Went here to see the Black Tape Project on a Thursday night. Im not usually a club fan anymore but it was actually pretty good. Music was good, bartenders were friendly and quick and good crowd of people that were all smiling and just having fun. Only thing I have to say negative is after I left I looked at my bar receipt and noticed they had automatically charged a 20% tip on it. Not sure Ive ever been to a club/bar where that happens unless you dont close your tab or maybe for bottle service. There was nothing to say 20% would be charged so I left another 20% and basically my tip was a third of my bill. Bartenders were good but not 40% of my bill good lol. Maybe it was because of the event that night but to anyone that goes check your bill before you leave a tip just to make sure. To management you might want to put something up that states this is automatically added. Its a bit deceptive and I can easily see people getting mad and escalating it.
Worst club to go to because of the bouncer Chad Green. In the comments I can see he is definitely racist. He treated me different because I was a black patron. They need to retrain him or let him go because he is a racist and lies to the cops. You can check my case out that happened in Texas CC5 case MA2258122. He tried to lie because he didn’t enjoy the outcome.
Bought a section with a $5000 minimum. They lack security inside people would come and stand and sit in our section… they would stand right behind us as well on a stage platform even though they didn’t buy a section. Someone smoothly passed by and stole a bottle of ours straight out the ice! A DON PERI And disappeared into the crowd!NO SECURITY! spending almost 7k with grat and tax included and not having A1 service is absurd. We should have received top notch service and should have had security securing us and our belongings/ bottles !Felt extremely unsafe and do not recommend !
Be careful talking to females, because it’s a LGBQ bar. The minute you talk to females the bouncers will stop you because they’re jealous and probably gay. And. The DJ was going through heartbreak playing sad music the whole time. Place pretends to be high class, but I’m from Detroit and that place is trash.
Despite the low reviews, we decided to get bottle service at Citizen Saturday night for my birthday (my boyfriend knows the DJ, and we knew there’d be great music - which there was so props to him!!). Our section had a $600 minimum that we met with a $350 bottle of vodka & $250 bottle of champagne. At the end of the night, the girl comes up to me with a bill for $2,000+.. I was pretty drunk but knew it wasn’t right & I let her know what I had actually ordered. She then comes back with a new bill for ~1,000, which was still incorrect because she charged us more for the bottle of vodka than the listed menu price. When I asked her about it, she said it was tax & gratuity added…even though tax & gratuity were listed at the bottom…I was pretty drunk and didn’t want to argue so I said okay..thankfully when she went to charge my card, my bank declined it thinking it was fraud (which it technically was lmao). I let my boyfriend know what happened, he thankfully wasn’t as drunk as me, and when the girl came back to say the card didn’t go through, he let her know again that she charged us incorrectly for the bottle. Tell me why we had TWO menus showing the bottle’s price of $350, but she stood there arguing with him about it. 😭😭 She would not budge until my boyfriend asked for a manager. It was pretty ridiculous to give us a wrong check TWICE and then argue with us about it & cause a scene for like ten minutes. This would be an amazing place if it wasn’t for the horrible service! I’m upset we won’t be coming here for bottle service again, but there are other places here we can go for that with better service - nothing is worth being wrongly charged TWICE and then arguing with us at the end of the night. She came back saying they gave us a discount…no you charged us correctly & it was not a “discount.”😭 im wondering if they do that on purpose to take advantage of drunk customers! They definitely would’ve gotten away with it had my boyfriend not been there. Listen to the reviews & stay away from this place - there are other clubs both in Dallas & FW that will give you much better service.
Girl…. This place is trash. They will reject you for any reason. Including if you are gay. They are horrible and they run a very shady business. Some of my good friends were rejected for wearing “neon pink”. Awful. They are discriminatory and also have horrible music to boot. Stay away. Really awful experience.
If I could give this place no stars I would. So, I am one of the people who is extremely pissed from the dreamhack event after party. So I bought a $20 ticket to go to an event that stated ON THE TICKET this EVENT WILL LAST 8pm-2am…I got there at 8pm, danced, mingled and drank. I had a group of friends who bout a $450 bottle service. Fine and dandy, I had another friend who bought the same dreamhack ticket event; he came later, he was out in a line and waited 45 min just to be told “the event ended at 11pm we’re now enforcing dress code,” he was not let in. He drove 30 min to get to the event that he spent $20 on only to be turned away. They said the event ended at 11pm. But as you can see it states 2am ON THE TICKET! THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN COMMUNICATED THAT DREAMHACK WAS ONLY BOOKED TIL 11pm! I DON’T KNOW WHO DIDNT COMMUNICATE IT BUT SOMEHOW IT WAS NOT COMMUNICATED OR UNDERSTAND BY BOTH PARTIES. I talked to the event coordinator & he gave me a refund & he was stressing on the phone still trying to pay the bill to the stupid venue that just hosted his event, he should get a refund, citizen is a joke. Never ever going back here again. 100% DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE! It is not worth it! Oh on top of that, my group of friends who bought a $450 bottle service were being kicked out of the club and they didn’t even finish their alcohol…it was $450 worth of alcohol, I wouldn’t leave just $450 worth of alcohol lying around.
Owner said his club is doing so bad he is at Backyard begging for pretty women to go to Citizen.. He is creep and wouldn’t stop touching my friend and refused to leave us alone after we said “go away you are bothering us.”
I was out with a group of girls on saturday night and was aggressively grabbed by the upper arms by a large male bouncer and thrown out. For reference, I am a 53 girl. I fell as soon as he grabbed me from the sheer force he used and then was dragged out of the club. A friend that I was with was repeatedly asking him why this was happening because she knew I did nothing to bring about this kind of treatment and we were not given a reason for why I was being kicked out. I read some other reviews about racist staff and Im not sure if that has anything to do with this but being physically assaulted by the staff was NOT something I expected and I cannot believe this happened to me.
This club is a joke. We waited in line for over 40 minutes with a crowd of other people. They would not let us in. But they were randomly selecting their group of friends and people they knew in while everyone that was standing in line waiting. They weren’t friendly at all
Music was great. Tall security man was extremely rude. My friends came into town ready to spend money and spoke to him about purchasing bottles. He rolled his eyes multiple times and took the menu from us before we could pick out our orders. Replace him and we’ll return!
Horrible, bouncer is clearly racist and does not like brown people. Let all of the girls in our group go in and none of the guys. We waited in the front of the line for 30+ minutes. Chase or whatever his name is was letting groups of other people go in through the side without asking for IDs or anything. When we asked how long he said to shut up and wait and whispered something under his breath. Clear racial discrimination, do not go here
Although I love the dj and the atmosphere at club citizen. it really was a disheartening New years experience. every person we encountered that worked there was very rude. Including the owner a short skinny woman up at the the dj booth. The only thing citizen lacks is professionalism with those who don’t buy a section…I had a section the day prior and had no issues. I come the next day and it was not the same. You need to learn to treat all of your patrons the same consistency because there are other clubs on deep ellum with nicer staff! The owner is lucky I didn’t ask for their insurance information. I would happily file an assault claim if this is how they operate. NOT SAFE
I recently had a disappointing experience at Club Citizen where I encountered racial discrimination. It was disheartening to witness a bouncer discriminating against individuals of Indians. In a diverse society, such behavior is unacceptable.I hope the management takes immediate action to address these issues and creates an environment where everyone feels welcome. Discrimination has no place in any establishment. Its crucial for Club Citizen to reevaluate its policies and educate its staff to ensure a more inclusive and respectful atmosphere. I strongly advise against supporting a venue that fails to prioritize diversity and equal treatment.
Came here after the Cowboys win to celebrate. The place was cold and sterile. There was 6 other people inside and they were sitting around bored as could be. The vibe and atmosphere was terrible and the music was way off. Furthermore, my friend ordered two green tea shots that were half full…$26. What a joke. There are way better places in Dallas to go. 1 star. Avoid this monstrosity of place like the plague.
During my first visit at the Citzen, I encountered a series of racially discriminatory remarks and actions from both staff members and fellow patrons. This incidents made feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome, and they have left a lasting negative impression on me. If you are people of color, please DO NOT support this establishment. It’s said to say it be your own people that treat you with disgrace too.
I had my wallet stolen once about a year ago, made the stupid mistake of coming again and literally CAUGHT someone trying to steal my wallet again. I called security over and told them who it was they were about as useless as anything. I had to fight off my own robber. Then he went out to the parking lot and smashed my windshield while I was in valet. Don’t come here.
Came here for a girls night out on a Saturday and was denied access because I am disabled and confined to a wheelchair. Chase the bouncer outside said and I quote “we can’t do the wheelchair.” Well I can’t not do the wheelchair. This is illegal and complete discrimination. I will not be returning and neither will any of my friends And we will be contacting a lawyer.
Best Part was the music playing outside at the bar next door, worst part was the racist bald bouncer
Inside the club is great. Great staff inside. The problem is the main bouncer outside (bald white man). He picks and chooses who he does and does not let in- even on New Years Eve when people paid $100+ for a ticket. When I got there, there was a young woman crying by herself on the street (unsafe) because he let all of her friends in except for her despite the fact that she had a ticket. I also saw a young man dealing with the same issue as I was waiting in line. How can you sell someone a ticket then not let them in? I have been here several times and have seen this bouncer deny people of all ages, so it clearly isn’t just an ID issue. He is just picking and choosing who to let in.It is really unfortunate that Citizen keeps this man at the door with so many reviews here discussing issues with him. I won’t be coming back as long as that bouncer is still at the door. How am I to know he won’t deny me or my friends next time?
This place is traaaaaaashhhhh. Tickets were from 8 to 2am and they turned lights on and turned music off at 11pm. Dumpster of a venue
Came and grabbed the menu and they got onto me because it “has to stay on the table”, don’t waste your time coming here.
Club citizens, it is highly inappropriate to hang a Jesus Crucifixion sign outside of your club to symbolize Halloween. This action is offensive and disrespectful as the Crucifixion holds deep meaning for Christians. It is not a suitable decoration for this holiday, as it could be seen as mocking Jesus and the beliefs of many Christians. Please reconsider and choose alternative decorations that do not infringe upon the sacred symbols of any religious group.
The night I went there was a private event until 11 pm and they didnt have it posted anywhere so everyone was outside freezing until the event was over and even then it took an extra 30 minutes to get inside. The one bouncer was nice and let us in once he could but its just unfortunate that they didnt post somewhere that they wont be open until 11 pm so people didnt waste their time. Once inside it was a lot of fun but not sure if it was worth that wait
“CHRIS BROWN AFTER PARTY” This event was very unorganized, there were three separate lines and there was no one directing. We arrived at this event at 12:53 and stood in line for over 30 minutes and no one was let in, and once we made it near the front Lauren and Chase were arguing about the club being at maximum capacity and they were looking out for fire marshals but yet they were constantly letting people in that didn’t have tickets. There was only 20 minutes left until the club was supposed to close and they announced that they were closing the doors because they were at maximum capacity. I’m not understanding how the club was at maximum capacity but tickets were sold for the event. We finally were able to talk to one of the bouncers about what we should do because there was only 10 minutes left until the club closed, and he told us to get a refund but we have been trying to contact someone for about a day now and we have not been able to talk to anyone.
Me and my lady come here frequently! This place is the best place to be in Uptown after 11:30PM. Security has always been solid and attentive. We always get great service from the bar. Chris is a great bartender who is quick to make a great drink.Arlinda always provides grade A service when we get bottle service. Totally would recommend to anyone wanting to have a fun night out. Dress code is strict therefore I would recommend dressing up.
We spent alot for a birthday celebration for a friend by reserving a table that sat 15. It was a tiny space, and we were constantly being pushed out of the way. There is no personal space for your group, and the staff could care less about taking care of us. The bar was the best part with good bartenders, but if you want good bottle service, there are much better places you can feel like a VIP.
If it’s gonna be about a 30minute wait just let the people in line know and we’ll go somewhere else. This line doesn’t move and they let about 30-35 other people fromThe side lines. I hope this place realizes how it’s treating their people in line. Sorry, this is kind of bulls***t.FYI only about 10 people in front of me....
Sweaty, drunk, crowded, and heinous. If any of those words appeal to you, it may be a good clubby bar for a late night out. If not, probably try elsewhere. The staff is ridiculously rude and the owner is blissfully unaware of everything sketchy that goes on inside.
A friend reserved a table a month in advance. The day of it was confirmed and when we get to the location they say they can’t find our name on the list. They took our table and gave it away. Refuse to let us in and let in all the white people that were in line inside the club. They were very rude and refused to let us speak to a manager. As I read the rest of the reviews I see this place has a problem with BLACK PEOPLE. I wouldn’t spend my money here in any circumstance.
Absolutely the disgusting! If you want to watch entitled white men display their racism that’ll be the case here. You stand in a 30-45min line and watch the bald white guy with tattoos hand pick his “friends” who were all white. When I asked the other person at the door was their two lines or are we needing to reserve. Basically why they aren’t letting people in based on order of the line. He said, there was no difference in the two lines but he doesn’t get to decide who goes in… the white tattooed bald guy makes that decision, that was his boss. When yet another white girl comes standing right next to me… we we’re at the front of the line for 25mins at this point. She waves at the entitled white male. He acknowledges her. I asked her where’d she’s coming from because she was not in the line. She says she just got here but that the white bald guy was her friend. At that point I was disgusted by his behavior. How could the owners of this establishment be ok with racism displayed right at their front door.
The owner of this club is so rude and is in severe need of chapstick and a mint. He was standing on top of couches last night and literally stepped on me to get down. No excuse me, no apology. Then proceeded to turn around and tell me to “pay attention next time”How can you love hospitality and nightlife so much that you would open a nightclub, and turn around and be so rude to strangers that go there. Doesn’t make sense! Won’t be coming back.
One the best places to have a night out with your girls. Safe and drinks are so good. Music and atmosphere are always a blast.
When I went to citizen last night for the NYE event one of the staff girl was holding a huge sign above her head and it slip from her hands and landed on my head. I have a huge bump on my forehead and a terrible headache that hasn’t gone away since last night. Those signs are a huge liability and should not be carried by staff girls that are not strong enough to lift it. The girl walked away not acknowledging my existence after dropping the sign on my head. I’m completely disappointed with the staff handling of situation. I’m a paying customer that should at least been given the sensibility to make sure I’m okay. It is not the right way to behave. I’m completely disgusted by the overall experience. It ruined my night.
Worse service ever… for being so expensive I felt like I was paying for the waitress plastic surgery. Not recommending this as a good night club in Dallas,Texas…. Much better night clubs with better prices and friendly staff. If I could give negative stars I would !
Bald guy wouldn’t let me in because my ID’s color wasn’t “a light enough color”. It’s real bro, you just lost the business of 9 people. Apparently other people aren’t happy with him either. Get yourself a good bouncer and the owners might actually make some money off this place.
Great place to end your Friday or Saturday night. You have to get a table due to how packed it gets. The bottle service staff is amazing, always very friendly and helpful. Great place to come with friends for a special occasion or just a night out. Valet makes it easy for you to get in and out.
My sister reserved a table for us on the 9th a month prior for her birthday, a month ago and they gave our table to somebody else. They are racist and I highly recommend not coming to this club. Terrible business everybody who wasn’t of color got in but us.
I’m going to tell you right now, if you are black, don’t waste your time trying to get into here. The bouncer is really rude for no reason. I had friends who had a table and he said they had to come and get me. When my friend tried to get me, he said there was a wait. There were other people who were white who got straight in without showing ID or anything. Will never waste my time trying to go in here again.
FRAUDULENT CHARGES. My husband left his card with the bartender and forgot to close out his tab. I’ve been repeatedly trying to get in touch with them to get it back. Today we found out that someone has been swiping his card all day long and racking up a giant bill. We are absolutely furious. This place CANNOT be trusted.
All I can say is WOW!! I had an incredible time celebrating my 29th birthday at Citizen. The entire experience felt like something out of a movie. The bottle girls were extremely attentive and service was quick. Our section was swarming with beautiful women and the vibes were on point. Mad respect for the security staff, bartenders, bar backs, bottle girls and management that work hard to ensure everyone is having a good time. Citizen by far is the hottest most exclusive club in Dallas, there is no debating this. Lastly, I want to give a special shout out to Tyler Scalzi for his world class service. He really went out of his way to ensure my table had the night of our life’s. Thank you team Citizen!! Y’all are the best!! 🎊🎉💸🍾
They never fail to amaze me with their presentations, they are fast and courteous to our needs. Always ask for Linda. She will get you taken care of!
Trash- your stuff will get stolen 100%.Your night will get ruined for sure.
Exclusive, fun and sexy. I come here when I want a safe environment to run into all my best friends and neighbors. Owners are great people & down to earth. Bouncers are awesome, very professional. They let the cool people in and keep the bad attitudes out. Getting a drink can be a challenge when packed. This place is geared toward an upscale mature crowd.
What management thought when they installed that smoke right on the middle of dance floor??? When the smoke starts it shoots like a gun with small size ice cubes… it shoot me in the eye directly I couldn’t open my eye for next 30 minutes and it left red marks on my hand and it is painful !!! Remove that smoke from the dance floor you idiots! I have on a video even your team security guys and waiters turned around when the smoke comes. If you are facing to the place where smoke comes little ice cubes will hurt your face , leave some marks and if it doesn’t shoot you in the eye, you are lucky! Terrible experience 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
Awesome staff. The hookahs served by Houloo hookah was great as well , made it twice as good! Very helpful security guards and the managers and staff were all super helpful and kind. They prepared outside for my staff to serve hookahs and I really appreciate their hard work. I love how Citizen has both outside patio and inside space and it’s a super cozy place. I highly recommend it.
If you have money for the white guy name Chase or something like that, you can come in if you dont give him money he wont let you in as if he were the owner of the club, Ive seen many people give him money and just like that Let that stupid person in will never ever be a successful business, that place will have very very bad service from that unprofessional person in charge of that good club but with a stupid person in charge.I have tried to enter this place more than 5 times and it is always the same story with this boy and the worst thing is that the administration does not care but I will take my money to the place and I will make sure that no one else I know visits this place
The bald guy at the door wouldn’t let my husband and his friend in. Said they needed note women with them. My friend and I got there early and came outside to get them and be their “women” but he said we didn’t count. He wouldn’t even let them pay to get in. My friend had a table and he still wouldn’t let them in. He said the friend needed to get up from his table and walk outside to prove we were together. But then 3 white men walked in with no women with no problem. It was hip hop night and they wouldn’t let black men in. Ridiculous. I’ve never felt so violated. Never going back.
They definitely discriminated on who they let in and they changed up the rules last night. I have only been here once, maybe would return to talk to the owner. Bouncers are disrespectful and rude. The female services have to wear barely anything (dress code) while the men servers are completely and fully clothed; wouldnt bother me so much if the ladies got to keep their tips but it is all split amongst the men workers too, but who actually earned those tips though? We were trying to leave through an exit door (makes sense, right?) Tell me why this bouncer physically grabbed and pushed my sister back. She is 53?Definitely would have preferred/appreciated a verbal warning first. My friends of color werent let in.I cannot fully express how the treatment of people in this place enraged me. I have worked as a bar tender and as a customer service rep.. this place is just plain inhumane.
Showed up wearing a suit with three gorgeous blondes in skirts ready to party around 10pm. Was told by bald doorman with an attitude that only guest list or tables are being allowed in. Asked to buy a table, doorman says no tables available. Asked to sign up for a table and wait at the bar until one becomes available, was denied. Claimed no space. Mind you, outer bar area was empty with a clear view of the bar. Needless to say, well never be back. Bought a table across the street instead and had a blast. Bottled Blonde, the new Sporting Club and other clubs will get my business when Im back in Deep Ellum. We used to really love the old Citizen in Uptown, but this new location? Never again.
I am a physician from Boston who came to Dallas to celebrate my birthday. My boyfriend and I watched several other people get in......when we walked up the manager said clearly to the bouncer we are bottle service only. I was blown away. We had bottle service the night before at The Playground and it was fab but clearly this establishment does not want African Americans in their club. If u want a cool vibe go to the bar right up the street.
Bald guy at the front by the name of Chase has a small PP. Not black but noticed he was not in favor of the black women there. It was Sad to watch. I get im a guy, so let all the women in. But saw them constantly reject solo black women.
Chase the security at the door tried to say my friend falsified his height on his ID and wouldn’t let us in. my friend is clearly his height. it’s flat out wrong and disrespectful and felt like discrimination.
Don’t waste your time. It’s over priced and dirty inside. They bouncers can be a-holes, and won’t let groups of guys in, especially if your no white.Advice, let in paying customers and you might not go out of business.
An honest review. My two friends and I came here early in the night (around 11:15) on a the 2nd of February. There was no line and honestly the place had little activity/dead. I should mention that we were all smartly dressed and are young black professionals in the DFW area. When we attempted to enter, we were told by the attendant, Chase that we didnt have any girls and that it was going to be too busy later that night. I was shocked by his comments because logically, when it isnt busy youd want to let in people so they can buy a few cocktails as was our intention. Not to mention the degree of misandry that we need women to be admitted. Can we pause for two seconds to ponder on the level of public outcry that would ensue if a woman of legal age, in the 50 states was refused admission to an establishment simply because she didnt have a man or husband along side her. I submit to you that misandry is equally as discriminatory as misogyny but sadly it seems that weve become immune to it. The whole bit about it being too busy later and needing women was just a racist and discriminatory tactic similar to the dress codes at bars around the area. Needless to say, I will not be returning. If youre a minority going here just be aware that you may be treated as less than. For me, no amount of fun or good time is worth my dignity
I would give this place NO STARS, but Google would not let me write this review until I at least gave it one star. This place has a certain an image that that it wants to maintain and an obvious look it wants to have. That look does NOT involve catering to black patrons. Last night (11/24/2018), I observed and was actually victim to a practice at clubs I know to turn certain patrons away. That’s the “if you’re coming in, you gotta buy a table” tactic. Last night, my girlfriend, her roommate and I were going to meet up with another group of her friends who were already inside. I’m a black male and I valeted my truck and we all headed to the entrance. We were created by the door guy who proceeds to tell us when we get to the door this song and dance about “come back at 1:00am, we’ve got folks that bought tables and we’re waiting on them”. He proceeds to tell me “they have them reserved.” Then out of the other side if his head tells me “you all can come in, but you have to buy a table”....but y’all are sold out of tables? Why would I buy a table if they’re all reserved? It was a little odd and to be honest, I thought nothing of it. We go back to the valet and while I was waiting on m truck my girlfriend stayed by the door to alert her friends that we were outside. They proceed to tell her that they were not told they needed to buy a table and simply were ID’d and allowed entrance. As I waited for the truck, my girlfriend (who’s Indian and her roommate is Hispanic) come to me and advised that several patrons were allowed entry, but noticed that every single black patron was greeted with this same “you gotta buy a table” speech. I am one who has to gather intel, so I had to observe for myself. Luckily the wait to get my vehicle was long (we were waiting with other black patrons who’d been told this and I compared notes with them). I also stood at the corner for about 20 minutes and observed. There were about 5-10 cars pull up, valet and approach the door. There was no “you gotta buy a table” offer extended to those individuals and it was about 20 people. But the black patrons were ALL greates with this speech. There was ONE large black male I observed enter but he was only in for about 5 minutes and came back out. I’m assuming he probably is a bouncer in the area and is known to them. Later in that night we were at Velvet Taco (we ended up in Deep Ellum at Stirr) and I ran into a friend (he’s Middle Eastern) and he confirmed our suspicions advising he knew the owner and was sorry that happened to me. That being said, I would encourage black patrons to avoid this place! They don’t want us there and it’s fine. Dallas has many places we can go to and spend our money and enjoy a night out with friends. I would recommend that this place NOT be one of them. Very disappointing and disheartened...I’ll buy a table somewhere else!
This is the worst establishment I’ve ever even attempted to walk into they are prejudiced and racist and actively ignored me even though they weren’t busy and didn’t let me in for 30 minutes and continue to ignore me so I didn’t even get in even though they were clearly not busy or at capacity . Don’t ever waste your time waiting in line for this dumb excuse of a club especially if you are a man of color! Honestly -5 out of 5 stars!
This place is totally racist. A group of 5 of us (2 girls and 3 guys) was discriminated against simply because of the color of our skin. As we waited in line, the bouncer was letting everyone in until we got to the front of the line. He ask us if we had a reservation, we said no we didnt know a reservation was required. He said well I cant let you in without one. So we ask him why didnt he ask everyone in front of us if they had a reservation and he said the place is crowded now. So we step to the side and a group of white people came behind us and he just removed the rope and let them in without asking them if they had a reservation. We asked him what was up with that and he said I know them. We watch about 20 people in line he let in and not once did he ask anyone if they had a reservation. All of them were white. Mind you everyone in my group was well dressed with nice shoes and button down shirts and the ladies were overdressed compared to the women he let in. We are all college graduates, I even have a Doctorate degree. This is absurd that in 2016 racism is still alive. I cant believe a bar in Dallas, a diverse city, allows this type of bigotry. I will not be back and dont recommend anyone to spend their money in this establishment.
Went here last night the manager put her hands on me and got mad because I wasnt going for it. Yall going down and yall trash funky breath security ☺️ it will be addressed legally
I used to love Citi. But after seeing everyone reviews I get it. They only let the same people in every week. And nobody new is allowed. And get this, everyone inside is broke & cheap & poor. So I really don’t get it.
We received bottle service but 1 star service. Staff is a disgrace; doorman arguedwith me for an unprescribed amount of time when we were leaving because I told him that before we had received bottle service, my friends and I were sitting down and someone else had ordered bottle service and the man working rudely and disrespectfully told us to move when EVERY other table was empty in the place. It rubbed me the wrong way, which I get you want to make people feel special BUT BE NICE- It’s not that hard. You work in hospitality and I guarantee you, if you want to stay in business unlike half of the Dallas bars, treat your customers right, and Citizen- you did not. I don’t “club” anyway, we just happened to be out after a holiday Christmas party and everyone suggested Happiest Hour and I insisted on Citizen... next time I’ll listen to my friends. I hope the staff receives some training on manners and maybe this place won’t go under like so many others.
I Brought my friend into Citizen tonight for bottle service for her birthday, while we were there her wallet got stolen, and my jacket was stolen. Over all, I wouldnt go back. No check to put up jackets or purses when you walk in and its overly crowded with a lot of moochers trying to take your bottles.
Citizen Does not treat you like a CitizenDo Not GO HERE Went to Citizen few weeks back, on a Saturday for my wife’s birthday. The outside looks like an old rundown trap house. The Bouncer at the door whose name was Chase was completes POMPOUS JERK. Came with a group of 9 mixed guys and girls, he gave us a hard time that they weren’t letting anyone in without a table reservation. Although people were getting in without table reservations, our friend who was already inside had a table reservation, so he started to let us in. He checked our IDs as walked through, but when it got to me I was the only one in my party who was not let inside. I’ve been to uptown many times over the past years so I am aware of the strict dress code so I made sure to dress accordingly. There was obviously a race issue there since he let the rest of my party guys and girls of Latin and white races in. Will not be returning to this place, and do not recommend this place to anyone especially to my African American people. Concrete Cowboy or the Den are much better options in uptown, or just go to Deep Ellum where they know how to treat people like people!
Always have a good time when I swing by. Bartenders are some of the best in Dallas. The theme is typical Dallas nightlife with an interesting house party twist. I usually come and hang out on the patio but bottle service is also good here. You can try to find parking on street but valet is the best way to go. Dress code is strictly enforced and you need to be prepared for a hard door (arrive early).
CITIZEN HATES FUN. I came here for my friend’s birthday and he must’ve purchased tens of thousands of dollars worth of bottles that night (we are very rich). I thought it would be hilarious (it is) to help the bottle girls bring the bottles over to our table (I’m also super jacked). However, the bottle girls refused to let me partake in such activities bc they were terrified that I could do their job better than them. We will be taking our tens of thousands of dollars to Cicis where they do bottle service the right way.
I spend hundreds of dollars a week at this place. I have a few friends that work here and theyve always treated me well. Unfortunately, I happen to arrive one night at the same time Michael Finley (a Mavericks Legend!) and some of his friends arrived. They wouldnt let him and his friends in. The place was not at capacity because I went in and took a lap. Unacceptable and there is no excuse. Citizen has seen the last of me. At some point you have to humble yourself as an organization and if people are obeying your dress code, one should not judge. In no way will this post hurt them, they have a consistent clientele, but there are other cool places to go in uptown that omit the elites attitude.
I love going to Citizen best place to find a sugar daddy for sure!!! Bartenders are amazing and security keeps you safe. Everyone so welcoming and great energy. Totally recommend if you want to have a party night!!!!
Hottest club in Dallas right now. The reason why Im giving it 3 stars is because we ordered a 595$ bottle of Don Julio and they brought out a 1500$ bottle of Clase Azul saying they didnt have any more of the other bottles... seriously!?The waitress was really trying to get us, we brought it to her attention and she switched out the bottle to a different tequila of the same tier. She even told us the club would close as 3am and we bought the bottle at 2am. They closed early at 2:30am, so that gave us 30 minutes to drink a whole bottle of tequila. We didnt even get half way 😡
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. First off, the two numbskulls that are the face of this establishment are not professional. Where else will you find two people who are the face of the bar partying with their own people every week. This bar has a lot of potential and could be one of the premier bars that Dallas has to offer but it misses the mark entirely. The outside patio is never open. The women in there are subpar at best and need to put the white down and put more trust in the weights. Theres hardly any melanated queens in there because they hardly ever let POCs in. The music is terrible as you cant even dance to the skribbles that the DJ is mixing. Chase, the neckbeard at the front, is everything that is wrong with this bar. The guy that works at the bathroom needs a pay raise for the outstanding efforts that he has shown. People dont waste your energy going to a bar such as Citizen. Theres plenty other bars that will let people in with groups that wont charge you over the head for a small section just to be disappointed.
This place sucks !! Went today expecting 80s music from 3-8. AS ADVERTISED!! Showed up at 6 and they had regular club music. So disappointed. Anyone who goes in that area please avoid that place. I paid almost 80 dollars and no refunds ! Some rich kid owner who’s unprofessional.
The worst club in Dallas. My experience was so bad. I dont recommend it. I went there and one of the girls literally dropped the sign on my friend and didnt even apologize to us and left her a huge scratch on her forehead and she just walked away. DONT GO HERE!!!!
The owner was rude and so was the bouncer at the front. I haven’t came to dallas in a while but last nights service reminded me of why I don’t go to citizen anymore
Wish I could give 0 stars. This club is terrible an only let in skinny white girls (no offense) but that’s literally all they let in. It’s very strange and they will try to scam you on drinks, so check your tab before paying.
All I will say Racism still exist. Doesnt matter how well dressed you are or how expensive your clothes/bag/shoes may be, if you are black you are not getting in here. Im biracial and was with a group of 7 a mixed group I might add (black white asian biracial etc) my two girlfriends very well dressed in my opinion over dressed for this place were rejected so naturally none of us went in bc they couldnt and I the bs excuse we were given was we didnt have a reservation. I noticed none of the all white groups were asked this or had a reservation. I called the next day talked to the major of course they stuck by their door guy. Sad in 2016, 8 years under a black president, Harriet Tubman on the face of the $20 bill we still have to deal with this type of blatant racism and bullshit. This place needs a reality check at the end of the day all money is green and spends the same
Beware they don’t like letting black men in but let other races in through the back door for $200 without checking for weapons it’s no wonder they experienced a shooting in their establishment last year. Dallas Police watch that side door.
The hell with this place ! Paid 35mf dollars for a 80s party. Walked in listening to bad bunny nothing wrong with bad bunny. But they sell bad advertising. And the owner was a escuincle who can’t even run a club right. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME !
“AT CITIZEN, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE WELCOME.AT CITIZEN, YOU DICTATE WHAT HAPPENS.”Not the case. This mission statement should be removed from their website. They are not welcoming. The lines to get in are a jumbled mess. They pick and choose who they let in, table or not. Probably the worst customer service I’ve seen and we will not be back.
Best nightclub in town! Service was great and the venue even better! Will definitely be back.
Well... How I explain this...We (me and my fiance ) like nice places to hagup, this supouse to be one of those. Well, Horrible decision. First, at the door they just let in wherever people they like...and the file is big very big. Second, someone had been take it out because it was extremely drunk, he puke in my shoes....Then inside the sardine package night club or werever this it. When to the restroom and a drunk guy pee on the wall.Drinks are ok but not for what they charge I dont mean to pay for drinks, but have to be good.Thay dont have good scoth or good brand of spirits cheap stuff..Never ever been so disappointed with a night club or lounge.
Will never come back thanks to RUDE bouncer who treats certain demographics like they are worthless. People in front of me got treated with respect bc the bouncers knew them. Thats fine, but treat ALL people with respect!
Wouldn’t recommend. The customer service is awful. Blum and bottled staff are way accommodating and personable than citizen staff. I had the door guy tell me I need to work on my customer service skills in rebuttal of the feedback I gave him. DO NOT GO
Im a woman in her mid 40s and have lived in Dallas since 1989. With that being said I have definately been to a club or two in my day. Last night my first time in at least 10 years to go to a bar/club like this one and my review is this.... Its yet another Dallas hot spot, jam packed with 20 somethings, a fun and crazy social hot spot following in the grandfatherly footsteps of Decades of Dallas trendy clubs gone past. What would Dallas be without one? If you are a people watcher, expect to see tons and tons of scantily clad dressed beautiful women (emphasis on the word scantily) who give new meaning to the word dirty dancing and 20 something men who appear to be very very important in their own circle (emphasis on the word their). Other than that, my ears are still ringing. You wont be disappointed if you are looking to go out to a sexy Dallas hot spot and be flirted with by tons of hot people but make sure and get there way before 11 because the place isnt large and full capacity seemed to have been met at around that time and thats still with a long line down the street. Its sardine city in that place so cloister phobics need not apply.
The night started off decent... Snoop Dogg came out and eventually the entire club smelled like weed. Made me sick to my stomach 🤢 I know some people like that but it did made me enjoy the concert at all.
Thursday night. If it wasnt for Meetup event the place would have been empty. Bartenders provided quick, friendly svc. Room temp. could have been cooler. Small area so it can imagine it will get crowded on a FRI or SAT night.
By far one of the most worthless establishment in dallas Texas. After standing in a very unorganized line for a hour and watching random people come up and walk in it ultimately comes down to the color of your skin. So if you are of a darker shin tone dont waste your time.
Worst place Ive ever been too. They let me in once when I was with all white people but the second I came back with black people they said they were too full but still kept letting people in who were white. Dont go here if youre anything other than the color white because they will not let you in. Kenzie and the chase guy are the door are fake as hell. Dont trust this place
Security makes you wait in line and very rude. Only lets people in they know. They ask if you would give them extra money to go in. Very Shady stay away
If you want to see all The Who’s who of dallas this is your place. A renovated 1960’s style home is turned into a modern lounge that plays the best music in dallas. A patio and bar outside makes a perfeft place to enjoy a good time with dallas perfect weather.
The owner was extremely nice and accommodating. The bar staff was very quick and efficient and clean. This is probably our new go-to place for an awesome night
I am a well groomed black man who walked up to the door last night 12/4/15 at Citizen and was looked upon with scorn and rejected by the door girl and told this is a high end club and I dont look the part. The people in front and behind me had similar clothing that look even less classy.I had on black jeans a long sleeve button down and dress shoes with a black fitted north face jacket. It was my first time there and I am a Doctorate student who had a tough week in school so all I wanted were some drinks and to listen good music.I will be officially contacting management and also emailing the Dallas Observer among other well respected news outlets such that others can be aware of the racial profiling that occurs there.....this is 2015 and that type of stuff does not belong in the city that I love so much...It must be delt with in a professional manner and those responsible should be held accountable for their actions.
Rude, prejudice and disgusting behavior from the door guy. Will never attempt to go here again. It’s not for us. Lol spend your money and time somewhere else where your welcomed.
Best night scene in Dallas. Nothing else comes close. Most definitely the place to be
They only allow certain people go inside, and sometimes they will say they have an event, but there literally no line when me and my 3 three friends went there and we were very dressed and they use that excuse as opportunity not to let certain demographic of people into the bar.
Pretentious young adults and door people with power trips over literally nothing. Would not recommend
Way to packed... horrible set up... if the place caught on fire wed all die.. they wouldnt let us in even tho we had a table... in a horrible spot ... only positive is good music... wont be back.
The bouncer here are the worst. Did not feel welcomed and felt very judged. Never going back again
Really cool environment. This is one of the upscale bars in the area with strict dress code. Only downside is that its kinda small
Good luck getting in after 10pm… the front is a mess, no organized line whatsoever and the bouncers will pick and choose who gets to go in
Well never come back again the security they dont let me in they said pay 100$ to get in i pay after that at 2 am sunday night the black guy take the money and he said you good lol i come to spend money in this place but its not worth it i wanna ask the girl she workthere wheres the restroom she pushed me
Fun fun fun! Good music ( DJ Pete mash). 👍👏 went there last week and we had fun! Small space more fun!
Dj was a total corn ball wouldn’t play “enchanting” and the entrance was racist
Not good. The bouncer Chase is going to make this club bankrupt soon. Wait and watch
The host is super rude !! All the girls look so uncomfortable here.
This place is a place you have to go if you are in Dallas ! Great service, great setup and you never know who might show up from the celebrity world !!
If you’re black and don’t play for the Mavericks or the Cowboys, I doubt they let you in this club
Don’t come here unless you like hair in your food and drinks. Horrible service.
Love this place! Always a good crowd. It does get busy so make sure to get here by 11!
I just wanna go here because of all the bad reviews from butt hurt guys.. lmao
Never again worse customer service!!!! Take your business to OFF THE CUFF instead
Cozy upscale bar with very limited hours, good place for small private events
This place deserves 0 stars racist club they dont like people of color
They would not let me in my friends in because we were in a group! I was only 4 of us.
Staff is very very RUDE! There are way better places in Uptown. With better services
Terrible thats all I have to say! Zero stars! Terrible area too!
Don’t come here unless you have an even ratio. This location is just like uptown #Trash
Cool bar in the heart of Uptown. Very busy on the weekends.
We had a great night Sunday!!
If you black, don’t come here!
So. Much. Fun.
Small area but amazing atmosphere
Great place!!! Great music and overall great service!!!
Hair in my food, again! gross.
Nice place and very good music!
If you go, grab a section. The DJ is dope
They scammed my friend card here.
Worst. Place. Ever. Dont waste your time or your money.
The place is hostile towards black people.
One of the best nightclubs in Dallas!
The racism at this establishment is astonishing really
Good drinks and fun club vibe
Great environment. And always good service.
Sorry excuse for what a club is. Dont waste your time.
Loud, crowded, not very attentive staff.
Felt like being in West Hollywood...loved it
Good place to be on weekends.good crowd.
The worst place ever that I’ve been to.
Horrible place, avoid at all cost
Small night club. Good music
One of the better Nightclubs in Dallas
The VIBE was amazing
The staff is very unprofessional.
Yelp made me do it
Awesome music!
Great atmosphere!!
Crowded and rude
Great spot
It is what it is...
