Booking was easy, I feel like the staff could have been a little more friendly and welcoming. In my appointment I asked for a male massage therapist and she said ok but when I got there she said the male therapist don’t work Saturdays. My massage was decent, I did the 80 min deep tissue. I didn’t like that THEY add the 20% gratuity, let ME tip her what i felt it was worth.
In my opinion, its counterproductive to have the customer facing up to begin with, if most of the work is done on the back side of all body. Zarya started on the shoulders with barely any pressure, seemed like she barely wanted to touch the shoulders. I booked a deep tissue massage and said to focus on the back and shoulders on the in-take form. It was a disappointment that less than half the time was focused on those areas. She spent too much time on forearms and the massage ended at the wrists for the most part. The arm massages should end at the hands all the way to the finger tips for a more relaxing massage & blood circulation, in my opinion. There were too many things that I did not like. When she first took me to the massage room, she took more than 5 minutes to come back after she told me to lay under the sheets. I thought she was ready, why else go get me from the silent room. Also, there was no flow from area to area. Its supposed to be relaxing, so why keep bumping into the bed, slamming shut drawers when its so quite in the room, abruptly moving around the drapes/sheets.Also, I would rather have cream or white colored sheets instead of maroon. It makes me wonder whether the sheets are really clean or not.The good thing was that the staff was inviting.Unfortunately, they charge 20% tip regardless of the service.
As many others have indicated, they do not answer the phone. My massage was great. I brought a friend and they enjoyed their massage as well. The issue was the billing process. Upon booking the appointment a deposit was due. After the services were received there was a gift card applied at checkout. The remaining balance was charged to my card after the gift card application. The only problem with this is that the deposit was not applied towards the payment due after the gift card application. Meaning there were two transactions on my card for the same service. I tried calling the establishment to rectify the issue, but no one ever answered the phone or returned my call. Ultimately, I had to dispute the deposit charge with my bank as Woodhouse Detroit never returned the funds. Ive still yet to hear anything from Woodhouse, which is disappointing as I enjoy their services. I work hard for my money and I do not have the capacity to give it away freely
I booked an appointment for my sister and I for her birthday, and I am a flight attendant stuck down in Orlando, I was supposed to be home last night and got stuck and was unable to call to adhere to their cancelation policy. I am also a salon owner as well so I understand having these policies in place to protect the business, I also understand and sympathize with people when these instances happen. Instead of being kind, they were rude on the phone and said there’s nothing they could do since the outage started on Thursday. Currently I’m out 300$, with no help or kindness from this establishment. I refuse to support an ugly business with greedy owners that have no compassion.
Thank you Asia for the incredible massage experience. From the time I walked in till the time I left, the staff are very Friendly, upbeat, and Super personable. It doesnt cost a thing to be nice to people, and you all are doing an amazing job of taking care of everyone with all their needs.Great wine and snacks selection too!
Such a wonderful experience. I came in with incredible back pain and Zenaya( I think that was her name) did such a great job, it took my pain way down. The facial was also amazing and Lexi even gave me her number if I have questions about products. Im not from the area, but Ill be back when I visit.
Everyone I interacted with was the sweetest and Shay did an 80 min full body massage and it was THE BEST massage of my life. And I had really bad knots and she helped a lot with them. It was my first time and now I’ll be a continuous customer.
They overcharged my tip. My bill was 265 + 20% tip (Which they don’t disclose on their website or when you’re checking out). But they charged me 59 dollars for the tip. I was told a manager would call me, but no one ever did. I booked the hydrafacial deluxe, which is 80 minutes, but they only gave me under 60 minutes. I wouldn’t go here and do not recommend. I’ve been to much nicer spas for cheaper.EDIT: I am adding to this because they left a reply, there is nothing that says you will be charged 20% when you are checking out and booking your appointment. Even in the FAQ section, it doesn’t say the percentage, but you still have to go out of your way to the FAQ section and read about the tip they add to your bill. They should tell you when you’re checking out. The Woodhouse in Rochester does not charge a tip, and they have much better customer service. Also, I tried calling the location several times and no one answered and no one called me back.
In serious pain after a 9 day conference and walking around non stop. Very nice establishment and the massage was great. Should have booked the 80 min rather than 50, but left feeling great!
I booked a massage reservation for my Wife and Sister in-law’s 17th Birthday. My wife had been attempting to fly home back to Detroit from Orlando to make it home in-time for their reservation that they had been so excited about for weeks but got stuck due to the Crowd Strike IT outage in Orlando and had been trying to get home for 2 days. I called the Spa at 10am as soon as they opened to inform them of the extenuating circumstances and to ask if we could reschedule the appointment for a different day in the same week as soon as we found out my Wife’s flights canceled and she wasnt going to make it. They informed me that they would still enforce the cancellation policy and take my $150 deposit since they didn’t get 72 hours notice in advance when in reality this situation was impossible to foresee. They wouldn’t even let me reschedule the $300 appointment to two days in advance and informed me that I would have to pay another $300 appointment fee just to get another day on the schedule. I can assure you no massage is worth a total fee of $750 when there are factors at play out of one’s control or ever. As a small business owner myself, I understand rules need to be enforced but when life happens and there are extenuating circumstances and you’re looking for empathy in the hopes to celebrate a loved one’s birthday at your business, you would think there could be exceptions to the rule. I would recommend this spa if you know 72 hours in advance that you could potentially be administered to the hospital, have a family emergency, or a flight cancelation, or a death in the family. Otherwise enjoy your experience but buyer beware and I would take your business elsewhere.
This place is a joke. When you book online they send countless email and text confermations. The day of my appt. I recieved a call 30 mins before my scheduled time saying if i could reschedule and they were short staff i cancled and just asked for a refund because thats super unprofessional. Why is it so hard to support black owned biz smh
My massage was great however, I came with my boyfriend we were scheduled for separate massages but at the same time. He told me after the massage that the lady was flirting with him and kind of touched his balls. It was disheartening because as women we have to do better. I wont be returning and ladies I recommend leaving your man at home because the thirst is real UNFORTUNATLEY .
I had a wonderful spa day! Shea was fantastic at massage, Lexi’s facial was amazing and the level of care I received from the host, Shawn was above and beyond.
Usually I’m not the girl to even leave reviews, but because they playing with my money im going to be her ! I booked two different massages for my birthday because somebody was planning to go with me , which led me to having to pay a $200 deposit on Feb 3. My appointment was on Feb 15 with I will say once I got there everything was good , massage was great . Once it was time to pay she told me that because my guest didn’t come I would be refunded my deposit & to just pay the $280 upfront for my service . Cool . It’s march 4th and I’ve been calling since the week after my service because I still haven’t been refunded my $200 deposit . I’ve been blowing their phone up everyday and getting no answer! So yea , I definitely won’t be back except to go down there and collect my funds in person !
I booked a Hydrafacial and Deep Tissue Massage for my 30th birthday after receiving a referral from a friend that goes to the Rochester location. Hands down the worst experience ever and I DO NOT RECOMMEND. Upon arrival I was informed that the esthetician that was supposed to perform my facial was contagious and went home. The concierge was very rude from the beginning. She indicated I would need to reschedule. I informed them that it was my birthday and I would at least like to get my massage. They indicated I would have to come back for the massage. Accordingly, I walked to my car and on the way to the car I received a call indicating that someone else could perform the facial. Therefore I walked back to the Spa, I was taken to the quiet room where I proceed to sit for 30+ minutes before I was informed that they only had one hydrafacial machine and that it was in use so I again would have to come back for my massage. I again left and proceeded to my car where I sat for an hour waiting for my massage. After coming back to the facility I was taken to the robe room where I was given a dirty robe that smelled like BO and had a granola wrapper in the pocket. They did not have any shoes available so is waited for new robes and shoes to be brought. I then went to the quiet room again where I sat for another 30+ minutes. Finally after my masseuse came and got me I was taken to the room where my masseuse informed me that I was scheduled for a body balance massage, I indicated that I scheduled a deep tissue massage and she said no you did not. She then went to double check and came back and apologized that I did in fact request a deep tissue massage. After preparing myself for the massage the masseuse came back into the room and indicated that the hydrafacial machine was available and they could do both services at once. I agreed as I was so frustrated and at the point that I just wanted to get it done and over with as I had dinner reservations for my birthday. I then was again brought to the quiet room where I sat for another 20+ minutes. The hydrafacial itself was okay as well as the massage however I would have much rather had the two separate services so I could fully relax and unwind rather than being rushed through two separate services at once. After completion of the services it was past 6pm at this point I got there at 3pm. I went to the concierge to pay at which point I was given my total including gratuity. I requested to pay the gratuity cash and provided the cash to the concierge. After leaving the facility I received an electronic receipt and discovered that they charge me for gratuity twice. I also realized that in an effort to get out of there as soon as possible I left my necklace that my son gifted to me. I called the spa that night and left a message. I called the next morning and left another message as no one answered again. I received a call back where the same rude concierge proceeded to argue with me until she realized that she did in fact charge me twice she also indicated that they did not find my necklace though I was the last person in the building other than staff. I am currently awaiting a call from management who apparently is away on emergency leave. Again I would NOT recommend this location maybe Rochester or another Spa in its entirety.
Im convinced this location exists as nothing more than a cover for laundering drug money or something. I bought a physical gift card for my moms 60th birthday in mid-February that still hasnt been shipped — and she lives in the same city.Calls to the location never get answered and they dont return voicemails. The one email I did send received a one-sentence response from their concierge team. They called only once; I called back an hour later and (surprise) no one picked up. Replied to the email, also no response.Contacting Woodhouse Spa headquarters is impossible. They only offer a contact form. The response I got was that they would forward my concern to the Detroit owner. That was on Monday morning. Its now Wednesday afternoon.Whoever responds to their Instagram inbox is inept at understanding my situation and re-asked the same questions. Theyre useless.Even if my issue gets resolved, I will not send my mom to this location to redeem her gift card (if its ever received). Its clear that no one here is interested in doing their jobs. So then how could you trust them to be hospitable to paying customers? You probably cant.
GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! Worst experience ever.I get spa treatments several times a month. I wanted to try Woodhouse Spa Detroit because I couldnt get into my regular place. I was disappointed from the start. Ive been to the Woodhouse Spa in Rochester and the experience was night and day.Things first started going downhill when I couldnt find the building. I called and no one answered the phone. When I got to the front desk, 3 young ladies were sitting there doing nothing. I was walked to the locker room but not given any instructions. I was not told that the robe sizes varied by locker. I should have been asked my robe and slipper size and given the correct size instead of searching for it. Once I got to the waiting area, I had to call out for my massage therapist to come get me. I informed her my main area was my back. She spent the least time on my back. She also cut my massage short by 20 minutes. I was told it was because I arrived at 11:55. I would have been earlier if one of the 3 ladies answered the phone or I didnt spend 8 minutes trying to get the correct robe. I had the same lady for my massage and facial. I was not asked if I wanted to cut my facial short to receive my full massage. After the service was complete I asked to speak to a manager and I was told by the same 3 ladies sitting at the desk she wasnt in and would call me the next day. I was also forced to pay 20 percent gratuity on poor service. I will never return!!!
The massage therapist did a great job :). However the session was definitely less than the 50 mins I paid for. Also the mandatory 20% gratuity is a huge turn off. It’s not really a tip if it’s mandatory!
I had a massage and facial today at Woodhouse Day Spa and it was a phenomenal experience. I absolutely cannot wait to come back! I feel so relaxed and rejuvenated. The service was amazing. Christina and Briana were exceptional and pleasure woman.
Brought my son here for an sports massage.Marcelina was his therapist and she was outstanding. We were a tad bit late due to the heavy traffic from the Lions game. She took her time and made my sons first massage experience great! We will be coming back soon.
I honestly use to love this location and have been going since it first opened. The service has gone down over the years. My last two visits have been very disappointing. I came for an 80 minute massage the day before Thanksgiving to relax. Big mistake when parking is already chaotic to get to the location. Why not just offer Valet? There was even less parking and Woodward was blocked off, not there fault but reaching out to clients to emphasize this cold help. The parking fiasco shaved 20 minutes off my massage time despite calls to the front desk to inquire where to even attempt to park. The locker room was a free for all and I had to roam the hallways looking for sandals. The locker room is also too small all the renovations and we still have to get undressed on top of each other. I have been to many woodhouse locations and would tether drive two hours than to have a subpar experience.
This establishment needs to get their act together especially being black owned and downtown! 1. They never answer the phone. 2. Parking is absolute horrid. Had a massage scheduled a while ago and couldnt even make it to my appt due to the horrible parking. Even though I showed up 30 mins prior to my massage. Still havent got that massage yet. Terrible
Very very rude front desk concierge. I left 3 messages and an email to book a massage with a birthday gift card that my sister purchased and called to make them aware since it was a gift card I wouldn’t have the card with me but when I arrived at my appointment I could’ve called my sister and had them give the number but instead they have token the money for a service I never received and haven’t been accommodating.
I came in for the couples retreat massage, and had Hope as my massage therapist. At times there was no pressure being applied, and I was supposed to be receiving a Swedish massage, it almost seemed as if she was falling asleep during some parts she would completely stop and not be moving at all and it was not a very comfortable experience. Ive been here once before and had a great massage, but this time I did not enjoy my massage therapist at all. I was very disappointed for the price that I paid.
I hated this experience so much. Took a friend and myself for her birthday after visiting the Rochester location I can’t believe it’s under the same name. No vibes, no robes, two seconds to changed , my massage therapist was cool she was nice but not sure she knew what she was doing, and my shoulder hurt so bad I wanna call and go off and it’s the day after. Never had pain in my shoulder before my visit but right now it’s like tender to touch have no idea what happened. $20 added gratuity should have been specified before booking. My appointment was at 4pm they called at the last minute the day before to tell me I had to come at 1pm I said that don’t work for me. They say well what about 3pm I said that’s fine. My friend was about 10 minutes late didn’t extend her massage which was the courteous thing to do seeing as though y’all changed our appointment at the last minute. Then after the massage we were being rushed to hurry up and leave because they were closing at 4. This was crazy to me seeing as though my original appointment was booked for 4 but whatever. I feel like I took a Big L and I’ll never go back. My shoulder hurting to the touch is crazy.I’m a stick to the Rochester location or Rivage day spa from now on.
My wife went here on her day off as a working Mom who already has worked 50+ hours this week, this was her email she shared with them about her experience below:Hello,I went to your spa for this first time today and nearly walked out because of how rude and unprofessional your front desk worker was. I came in and was a little frazzled because google maps took me to the wrong spot for your location. Regardless I told her that, “you all are hard to find”, which she didn’t smile and was curt and asked for me my name and if I had an appointment, which I did. I went on to explain that I tried calling to get someone who could direct me & she cut me off and in a sarcastic tone said, “we’re short staffed and I’m doing the best I can”. Her tone and demeanor were horrendous to be frank and with your prices and what I paid I can’t believe this is the first impression of your spa. I went on to say I wish I would’ve remembered that you have to pay for parking (just recently moved back to Michigan and I’m not familiar with Detroit really) & she said with a snide tone, “it’s downtown what do you expect?!”. I asked her if she knew the name of the parking place off of Griswold and Grand River and she got really nasty and said “you don’t even know where you parked?! How am I supposed to help you if you don’t even know where you’re at?!”. I sat down and cried the 10 minutes before my massage. To pay top dollar to be belittled and ridiculed when I am a store manager and have to be pleasant to people WAY less nice than myself on a regular basis. A spa is a place to relax, this employee should be held accountable for her horrible attitude and quite frankly shouldn’t work in a guest facing job. I’m not sure what it was about me, because she was much nicer to the couple who came in behind me, however I deserved none of her poor etiquette or treatment. The actual woman who did the massage was incredible but it took me awhile to calm down. Even after leaving and thinking about the initial interaction it just is still so upsetting and to have to pay for $20 for parking on top of the total of $232 spent at your location.Thank you for your time
Sent my wife there for a massage and facial, she said it was great and the staff was friendly.
Customer service was greatThe young lady Ashley is great with the massage. Great Experience
I loved this spa, it was my first time but the atmosphere and service was great... I will be back
Horrible over the phone service. They have no idea how to even book an appointment. The manager was not knowledgeable at all. Will never attempt to book there again.
I did an 80 minute deep tissue massage with Hope and it was wonderful! She was friendly and professional, talking enough to make sure I was comfortable but not enough to where I could not relax and zone out. The massage felt great and the spa itself felt clean and relaxing. I would recommend this business and this practitioner!
I Got A Massage Here 2 Years Ago On My Born Day & I Enjoyed My Experience Very Much. I Will Be Going Back. Soon.. 👍🏾👍🏾💯💯😊😊
Asia was AMAZING! She’s so soft spoken and calm, which released some of the tension that I had before the session started! Her techniques were one of a kind and after the session I felt like everything was pulled and released back into place. The atmosphere was relaxing and quiet and I highly recommend!
Susan is awesome! She provided an excellent massage and was really professional and kind. Unfortunately, Im giving a 3 stars because reception staff had pretty bad customer service, especially given the high price point for services, I wouldve expected better.
My experience with your spa began with making numerous calls, leaving messages over a period of three weeks, when I finally reached staff n explained, no apology was offered. I then booked a facial for my daughter because your room for manicures n pedicure was down n no expected date of completion was known. I was informed of your cancellation policy. On 7-6-23, pipes burst in my daughters business n we called to cancel her 7-7-23 appt. Cancellation n emergencies should be treated differently , yes it does result in cancelling. I will NEVER grace the doors of your facility due to the rude, inconsiderate policies!
I didn’t have a problem with the front desk staff like all the others reviews, but I was really surprised that an automatic 20% gratuity was charged and I had to pay my service in full before going to the back. This isn’t how it used to be. I feel like you are paying for the experience and high end products at a spa with this price point. The experience and facial I received today honestly did not feel worth the money I spent.
My friend and I went here today for a birthday celebration. We weren’t able to change into robes because the changing rooms are being renovated but they still required us to be there a half hour before the appointment to change and we sat in the waiting room until our appointment time had already started. When talking to the manager, she was immediately rude, defensive, and snarky. When my friend asked to talk to her again after our services to get some clarity, she was even more rude and unprofessional and yelled at my friend even while we were leaving. My massage table was also broken and the face rest had no padding so the plastic pressed into my face the whole time. Definitely not worth even close to the $600 in services. Will not be back. Please don’t waste your money here.
As soon as I hit the door the journey began. It was so quiet and calming, the ambiance was superb, the receptionist was friendly and knowledgeable. The massage was the best. It was the services they offered that was amazing, anything you wanted they could provide. I will be back and bring more people with me. Thanks to my sister who gifted me a massage session? She is the best❣️YO💯
Wow! Yesterday I went in for a deep tissue massage bc my back was hurting and I got the best massage of my life!Hope is the best massage therapist I have ever been to. She studied Kinesiology at Wayne and then followed that with a massage therapy degree, so she really knows her way around problem areas.I sleep with my dog and he takes up the whole bed, so I end up in weird sleeping positions; my back was so messed up. I also work on a computer most of the day, so my back was extremely tight and tense.Hope not only treated my problem area but found a bunch of other sore/tense spots. She uses her full body, forearms, elbows etc. to target stubborn areas that need additional pressure. She is a total pro. Whenever I go back, I will always request her. I cannot recommend her enough!!!The place is also beautiful and relaxing and they are so kind and hospitable. My friends got me this as a birthday present and it was the best gift ever! Much much needed!
I went to the Detroit location for an 80 min Lift and Firm Facial with Johnny. Best facial I ever had by far! I received compliments on my Glow the next day. All the staff there were super friendly and hospitable. I will definitely go back again. Thank you for such a pleasurable experience.
Visiting Detroit this week and my wife and i decided to get couples massages. My wife suggested that we go to Woodhouse Day Spa because of her wonderful experiences at the Alpharetta, GA location in our home state. Needless to say and unfortunately for us are experience at the Woodward Avenue location was anything but wonderful. We ordered a couples deep tissue massage and at best what we received was a forty minute rub down. We both agreed that we did not believe the skill level of the individuals performing the massages could identify the muscle groups in order to provide a deep tissue massage. Additionally, we both felt the service overall at this location was poor. Starting with the lack of a genuine greeting at the front desk to the lack of changing rooms, no lockers for personal belongings and bathropes as well as the walk out following the rub downs. These things were never offered. At no point were we offered basic services i would have expected as typical service which we always get at equal establishments elsewhere (I.e., hand towels, a glass of water or even a bathroom opportunity afterwards). My suggestion to anyone looking for a massage in the downtown Detroit area is to avoid this location.
I had the Body Balance Massage with Leva and she was amazing. I had a very stressful week and I was able to end my Friday was a massage that relaxed all my tension with just the right amount of pressure. She really listens to your needs and by the end of he massage I felt so relaxed and refreshed. I highly recommend her. The staff was so accommodating. We were able to stay a little later and have a few glasses of wine. Atmosphere was wonderful.
O unfortunately, I drove to the wrong location. When I booked my appointment online, I specifically was looking for the Rochester one not the Detroit one. Somehow I ended up not going to the incorrect one. After a 50 minute drive all the way out to Rochester I called Detroit, hoping they can accommodate me or help me out. After talking to the manager she was extremely unaccommodating. Told me if I make it back in time I can get part of my (90) min)services or if I don’t they will still charge me 50% of my service charge. Even after considering it was a complete mistake. I’ve been to many spas, and I have no issue paying the money, but I’ve never been to a spa that was completely unaccommodating and unwilling to bend. While standing at the front desk of the Rochester one, it was amazing to me that their front desk tried really hard to find a spot for me to squeeze me in since I was already standing there. I hate to say this, but an establishment ran by Black people versus white people is definitely completely different. Customer service is definitely a different experience. That’s really sad to say. Considering I am a person of color and own my own business. The most important thing is customer service. You guys have completely failed this time around. Even when asking if there were any other openings later in the day the quick response, Of “no we’re full” was given. You didn’t even take two seconds to look to see if there had been any cancellations at all or any accommodations to be made. Thank you for your unaccommodating, non- understanding, inflexible service! I’ve been more accommodated, at thousand dollar a night spa resort!! If spas like this can show their customers are valued, it’s ridiculous you guys can not! Not to mention that you guys lied on me, and said I was cussing and yelling. Which absolutely does not make sense considering I’m literally on the phone begging to be accommodated and have my appointment moved. What kind of person do I look like yelling on the phone and still trying to receive services. How unprofessional that you have staff members who lie and can’t take accountability for their own unprofessionalism!!! I have contacted your owner and corporate because after reading multiple reviews of your starky tones, this has got to stop! People are trying to relax and you guys cause stress And uncomfortable settings! Thanks for your lying response! You knew nothing about my pregnancy until a second call was made! And no accommodation was made then so please stop! As the manager it’s really a true test to your character and customer service! Poor! This wasn’t about a “pregnancy” but you sure made it about that during the call! Also perhaps you should mention in your services what is allowed for pregnant women and what is not since THATS what you choose to focus on and not that fact you have a poor attitude and managing skills. And refused to speak to the fact that you lied on a customer. Have a blessed day. Matters have already been handled in higher positions.
I left several reviews on various platforms, to say that my husband & I had an amazing couple massage! The massage therapists were professional and skilled. The front desk staff Makayla, Sierra & Angela were beyond pleasant & cheerful. They worked diligently to ensure that all guests were attended to and they did it so graciously! I liked that parking was validated also. I definitely would recommend this spa!
I cant even begin to explain how wonderful this place is. DETROIT location NOT Rochester Hills. I called in to Rochester for a couples massage and from the receptionists attitude, I would rather go to the beautiful city of Detroit anyway.Josie and Leva were wonderful therapists. My husband and I both fell asleep and I personally had to fight off farting with how relaxed and good it was lolThe receptionist at DETROIT was phenomenal and would love to be best friends with her and frankly, the whole staff. They are so wonderful. Thank you all of you for showing us a wonderful time and will see you the day before Thanksgiving!!!LOVE, LOVE you guys
My boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary on Sunday, 11/28. We absolutely loved it. Personally I worked with Asia and Shannon.Asia did my massage and it was absolutely by far the best message I’ve ever had. She has magical hands and knew every spot on my back that needed work. She was very professional but so sweet and also personable which truly gave me a more realistic and enjoyable experience.Shannon did my facial and body treatment. She cracked me up and made me feel relaxed all at once. My fav thing about her was that she was completely open and honest and showed me products that were safe and reliable for sensitive skin that I’ve already fallen in love with. Not only does she know everything about skin, she also knows all the good spots in town for good food.I can’t speak on a detailed level about my boyfriends experience. But I know he had a blast and has decided we need to build out a vishy shower in the house! With gratitude,Natalie Ray
Went for a girls day and what a beautiful environment! I loved my deep tissue massage, she did a fabulous job. She gave me some at home stress relief tips like an Epson salt bath which I did taker up up on while I was there and it was fabulous! I will return and cant wait to see the new services upon my next visit.
I had an amazing experience at The Woodhouse. Shannyn gave me the best facial massage Ive ever had with my HydraFacial. It was a wonderful service and I would do a 90 minute next time to have more time with her.I also tried a Calming Retreat and it was wonderful! Autumn helped me feel so relaxed. I have a hard time relaxing during massages, but this was so much more than a massage and I briefly fell asleep during the reflexology. That says so much about how relaxed I was with Autumn.I will definitely be back - thank you, ladies!
Wonderful day from the moment I walked in the door. The spa was clean, environment was welcoming and relaxing - everything you want from a high end spa. My first treatment had to be changed due to staffing. Nicole added stones and honestly it was a wonderful massage. I then had a signature facial with Brooklyn- very relaxing and the seaweed really hydrated my skin. They gave me several options for a healthy lunch. I was able to enjoy some time in the relaxation room. My day ended with a wonderful pedicure and manicure with Dara. Again, the used of the seaweed really nourished my skin. I would really recommend Woodhouse. It’s location is wonderful and the staff are professional and welcoming.
My experience here was not a good one. The aroma of the reception desk/changing area smelled like they mopped with a dirty mop. It was distracting and, to me, felt like the opposite a relaxing spa experience. I was told where to change, that I could use their private bathroom and private shower (nothing about it seemed private), and shown a private locker where I could keep my things (the first two lockers the staff showed me were broken and when I asked for help on how to lock it the staff member made me feel stupid and then when I showed her said, oh, that ones broken, its always broken). I was offered a beverage while I waited and said Id like some tea. My tea arrived in a cup that felt dirty to the touch. The massage I received was good-- the only good part of my experience. I did feel a little lost as a new customer as I waited, though. I didnt know who would be helping me, what information I should fill out on their new customer form (no one told me to fill it out, it was just lying there on a clipboard and my masseuse didnt look at it), how I should prepare for the massage, or where to go. The worst part was at the end when after my massage I went to rinse off in the private shower and when I walked in there was half-used cleansing products (the brands didnt match, they were jumbo sizes-- I guess I was expecting travel or sample sizes of their products? But not generic, large, half-used dirty products?) and worst of all: there was a small bunch of hair balled up outside the drain of the shower. Very gross, unsanitary, and nothing spa-like about it. I was really disappointed in my experience here and nothing about my experience before or after my massage felt tranquil, relaxing, or professional.
First I would like to say that my massage therapist did a wonderful job, my complaint is how the front end operates. I arrived to my appt and immediately was told that I had to pay before my service was even started which I thought was strange because I’ve never had to do this at the Rochester location. The receptionist than told me that I have to put 20 percent gratuity down and again I haven’t even had the service completed yet. I was using a gift card and wasn’t sure what was even on the gift card and the receptionist acting like that was a hassle to let me know and than asked if I wanted to use the entire gift card. I asked her what the balance was and she said 200, so NO I don’t want to give a 75 dollar tip on my 125 dollar massage that again I haven’t even started. As she walked me to the lounge area she said I will just change in my room because they were very busy and didn’t have any robes available. Going to a spa like this I’m paying for the atmosphere and it didn’t meet my standards for the price I’m paying.Again I like tipping especially in times like this but I should be able to Make that call based on my experience and maybe I would have liked to give more. I’ve never had to pay for a service and tip before the service was even started!
I really enjoyed my massage here! The last time I got a massage was at Walt Disney World so my expectations were kinda high, I think they did a wonderful job. The atmosphere was really calm, I didn’t feel rushed, and everyone that spoke to me was very calm and welcoming. I got the 80min Swedish, and she took care of everything on my preference sheet. I booked another before I left, so I guess you could say this place is awesome!:)
I am a repeat customer for the Woodhouse spa in Rochester which I absolutely love. My best friend and I decided to come to this location because we were having a girls day Downtown. Worst decision ever! Not only was the staff unprofessional, but they rushed our massages which were not enjoyable at all. I paid for a full body massage and only got a back massage. I will NEVER come back to this location. Please don’t waste your time or money and just go to the Rochester location!
The team is nice. My only complaint is that I wasnt told that I needed to be 30 minutes before my massage appointment. I was told 15 minutes so when I arrived I felt rushed and stressed. Partly my fault because I was already running late trying to get downtown then deal with parking. Not a problem since my husband & I were there for a couples massage anyway. This was his first professional massage. Our masseuses were amazing! They asked about troubled areas then proceeded to work their magic. I wanted to take home the velvet like blanket that covered me during my massage. It was soft & weighted. I almost fell asleep. Afterwards we relaxed while drinking mimosas in our robes.Once youre inside you dont hear the busy streets of downtown. The ambience inside Woodhouse is relaxing. The smell of essential oils flows through the air. I love the dark wood floors, the dressing rooms, and the decor. This is a really nice establishment. Well definitely be returning for more services.Cons: Parking for sure. I love the hustle and bustle of downtown. Construction is on going and businesses are generating a buzz that everyone wants to see. This makes parking difficult. We parked around the corner at a private lot ($10). After getting a lovely massage I hated walking around the corner to find my car.
Had a great experience getting a pedicure with Demi. The staff was really nice and inviting. Check in was simple. Demi, the service provider, was very informative, thorough and made it a great experience. The only improvement could have been larger chairs, since Im 64 tall, but they are planning to remodel in the next couple of months, so hopefully that issue will be resolved soon enough. Ill definitely be back!
Took my friend her for us both to have facials. By far, the absolutely worst facial either of us have beer had. When they left us on the room to get under the sheets, they didn’t come back for over 10 minutes. Then he didn’t even take my makeup off but instead just jumped right to moisturizer. During the mask, which was only about 5 mins, he was washing something. I just sat there. Neither of us received the usual hand|foot|head massage. It was absolutely horrible, for both of us. And since they make you pay for service and tip on the way in, there’s no recourse. Highly disappointed-do not get a facial here.
Can’t recommend. While the professionals who did my service did excellently, it’s a shame they don’t have an acceptable facility to work in. The place was filthy. Every piece of furniture was damaged. When I was having my pedicure, I had to sit with my arms folded up behind me because the chair was so broken. (This was especially frustrating because I had JUST had a massage, and I was already messing up my back again.)There was no toilet paper in the locker room and nothing to dry my hands on. The locker I was assigned had not been cleaned, which resulted in me setting my bag in a puddle of unidentified liquid. When I returned to the locker room over three hours later, there was still no toilet paper, and the same robe and raisin (that’s right, I said raisin) were on the floor of the bathroom. And there was still no toilet paper. Not the most relaxing atmosphere. My husband spent a long time on the phone setting this up for me and paying in advance so that everything would be taken care of (gift). When I arrived, his card information had been entered incorrectly and so I had to pay again, which was stressful because I was under the impression he had already been charged a large sum of money. And I felt I was treated like a nuisance throughout this entire process, which was not my fault and should not have been occurring. I was not given an overview of what my services would be, which was incredibly disorienting because at one point I sat in the waiting room for a half hour wondering if I was supposed to go home or just wait for a staff member to appear, which took a very long time.Honestly, where is all this money we paid going? While the professionals were great, I certainly didn’t get the impression they’re being fairly compensated. Lots of frustrated energy in the space, just a hunch, but I tend to have pretty good hunches. They’re clearly not spending it on spa-quality interior, soundproofing, cleaning, towels, toilet paper, refreshments for their guests, or adequate management. Whoever owns this place is making too much money for the quality of the product. Or their rent is too high. Probably both. But $225 plus mandatory gratuity plus the 12.50 I paid for parking *after* the courtesy validation is way too much for me to feel like an unwelcome guest in someone’s dirty home, which was how I felt the entire time I was there.Deeply disappointed. This was the first time I’ve been able to go out since having my daughter, and it will be a very long time before I get another day to relax. It was a waste. I was more anxious when I left than when I arrived. You’re better off just taking a warm bath at home.At least my skin and toes look nice. I hope someone opens a nicer spa and hires these professionals.
This was my first experience at Woodhouse Day Spa and every part of it was perfect. From the call back to book my appointment, availability to get me in fairly quickly, and my Foot Reflexology and Deep Tissue massage with Aaron was incredible. Ive had previous next and back injuries from a car accident and need a therapist who knows and understands the body. Aarons hands and the whole experience was absolute magic. I will definitely be returning and have high hopes that with his help I can finally get back to exercising at full strength.
Beautiful experience at Woodhouse. My Therapist Josie was AMAZING and the overall energy was Zenful....lol.... I look forward to returning.UPDATE🚩....Had a massage plus extras scheduled on my Birthday 2/18/22, but Woodhouse canceled my appointment on my birthday. They said my therapist was not available. They did not offer any discounts for a future service and were not very apologetic. The weather was not a artic blast. We live in Michigan so businesses should prepare for snow just like employees.I personally think they should have confirmed my birthday and offered an addtional service, a discount or a complimentary massge at the very least. For this reason Im giving them 3 stars. I didnt mention that for months they did not answer their phone lines or return calls apparently due to a burst pipe. It was not until I went to the business in person that I was able to find out why the were not answering the phone. They should have updated their voicemail advising their customers that they had a building problem and were not booking at the time. Please do better Woodhouse.
I did not enjoy my experience here much at all. To start I booked over the phone same day. I was excited that I was able to get in because I had an appointment somewhere else an hour prior and they overbooked that time. I called Wood house and they said they would call me back within 5 minutes to let me know if they had an opening in about an hour which they did. I was excited because it was a few minute walk from where I already was.Once I walked in the door the first thing the receptionist said to me was that my session had started. When I looked at my watch it was minutes before my appointment so I was a little confused. She then told me that she had said to come 30 minutes early. I did not recall her saying that especially since I had time between so I would have just come straight there. It was not the best way to start the appointment as she was like no I told you despite me saying I didnt remember that on our brief call. From there she took me to a room to change and said input a 4 digit code on her way literally walking out the door. It wasnt anything challenging but at the same time it was a little rude/dismissive especially since you dont want to show up to your spa appointment, be told it already started, and then be shown to a locker room with no hands on direction. I get massages all the time and they typically walk me back and show me around a little bit more. I guess because I was already on the clock it was rushed. Then I met the massage therapist who was really kind. I am honestly only giving two stars because she was so nice. The room was ice cold, the bed was cold. So although the massage itself was good the overall experience was terrible. I went back at 10 after the hour and finished 10 before, so it was a little overpriced for me for a 40 minute massage. Also I had the therapist continue to set her lotion bottle on my back/legs when she was massaging me. It wasnt anything awful but not something I have had anyone do before so just a little strange. For the pricing and experience I would not come back here :( its a bummer because its is in a good location for me.
With the additional stress that 2020 has presented, I knew it was high time to dig out my Woodhouse gift cards and put them to good use. I booked the seaweed pedicure with Toni & the Woodhouse escape with Kristia. Both services left me feeling joyful, relaxed and renewed. Everyone entering is asked to cleanse their hands, and has their temperature taken so you feel comfortable that precautions are being kept. The spa appears very clean and there were only a couple other patrons there during my appointment so we could all keep a comfortable distance. I highly recommend this spa. It is a longstanding fixture in downtown Detroit that is Black owned and despite many challenges has never compromised on the quality of services they provide.
Very first visit. The entire experience was EXCELLENT!! The entire staff were very welcoming and friendly, they made my wife and I feel at home. Very clean and neat. The changing area was spacious and included a shower and lockers. Very professional therapists, and your privacy and comfort come first. It was really nice to find this gem in downtown Detroit. Looking forward to our next visit.
I shouldve seen the red flags before my appointment. I made an appointment online and happened to call to ask a question and was told that my time and person was not available and there must be something wrong with the online scheduling. This was my first time at this location, and I wont be back. You pay for the service upfront including 20% gratuity. Technician was not great (and did not have to be since patrons have to pay gratuity upfront)- left product in nose and hair and skin didnt look or feel any better than it did when I arrived. Then when I asked about any recommendations technician tried to sell me a product that was new and he didnt know much about it. Ive been getting facials for years, but this facial was NOT worth the $200 plus I was charged (in advance... before any service is performed).
The environment was outdated and unappealing. They had water features that were not running and diffusers that weren’t in use with dust on them. The fake plants were dated and dusty as well. They took us back for our pedicures 20 min after our scheduled time and finished 15 min early so our pedicures were more like 30 min. The chairs had a massage feature built in but the wire was bent and it hardly worked. The staff didn’t seem to want to be there. There were scratched that bleed on my husband ankles from her scrubbing so hard. Wish I could get my money back. I left feeling more stressed then when I walked in. I only gave it two stars because they did do the service even if it was cut in half.
I absolutely love this place! First time coming here, and the atmosphere is so calming and the staff is very helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend Patricia for the sports massage! Best one I’ve ever had! She’s very thorough, knowledgeable, and kind. I will definitely book her again in the future.
Highly recommend this spa, I was treated for nurses week and it was absolutely amazing! The staff were very friendly and professional, the ambience is so relaxing, its like a mini vacay! Susan gave me the best massage ever, she applied the perfect amount of pressure and she was sensitive and attentive to my needs! Honestly I dont even want to try another person bc she was so good.....I love you Susan lol! 💗💗👏🏽👏🏽
We were recommended be Shilnola hotel to go to this spa since it was directly across the street from it in Downtown Detroit. We were very excited to get s massage and it was also well needed. We entered and we were impressed but not over the moon. Locker room were okay and staff were nice. The massage was mediocre, was not tailored to us exactly and we left feeling completely unsatisfied. Maybe if we did a longer massage than the 50 minutes we did it would have been better but no tell. Id say really look into other spas and dont have your expectations super high.
I have been having this spa experience since 2013. I have an awesome time each time I visit. The staff is knowledgeable on health issues and will work with you on your particular needs. I love this place! The aroma, the calming music, the robes! Oh and dont forget the complimentary glass of wine! I have visited several spas and have enjoyed myself but there is no experience like the Woodhouse experience!
I have had an ongoing WEEKLY massage appt for several months including a facial here and there. The atmosphere is peacful and quite. I did not like that the base boards were naked as if they had been ripped off and left in dispair. It makes the place look cheap. The first problem I had was being denied services until a $45 cancellation fee had been paid. I informed them that the fee was paid and deducted from my credit card a week prior when the appt was missed. I had to prove to them by leaving the building for better reception, screenshoot the payment and them return. I missed out on time from my massage that day.Today I was called to be informed that the appoinment for services that I made last week , for tomorrow, has increased from $125 to $150 plus gratuity as of TODAY. As a business owner I understand price increases. What I dont understand is not honoring the service price, of an appt I made a week ago, informing me 1 day in advance of the increase and the way it was relayed. BTW the price is not the problem, its how it was relayed to myself as the consumer of the business and the attitude of Well, this comes directly from corporate, I will cancel your appointment goodbye.I spend my money where I am appreciated so IF you do decide to visit this spa, JOSIE is the BEST, HANDS DOWN! Tip her wonderfully.
I had the most incredible experience here. The ambiance was classy, clean and inviting. Given the public health concerns globally, The Woodhouse Day Spa Detroit staff were very consistent in maintaining safety protocol through the scanning of my temperature, to the wearing of masks throughout the spa experience, social distancing practices and the distribution of hand sanitizer. The staff members were all very professional, personable and inviting. I felt as though I was the most important client in the entire facility. My massage was delightful, my facial was revitalizing and my pedicure was sensational. I was even more pleased to know that I was supporting a woman owned, and black owned small business ! Leva and Toni took excellent care of my guest and I. I will definitely be back!
We had the couples massage in the name of love and undertanding. I was really apprehensive and both had never experienced a massage. Upon our arrival I began to feel the aura. Nice! The atmosphere was calming and relaxing! The decor was nice, the staff was pleasantly friendly and wonderful. The massage is exactly what me and my sweetie needed! Mediation made easy! I love my girl with the magic fingers! And my husband was satisfied, as well, he is hard to pleased. We vowed to go back every three months.Thank you, Woodhouse for making me and my husbands stay pleasant, relaxing, enjoyable and stress free! ~The Wilsons
If I Could Give 0 Stars To This Place, I Would! I Booked A Couple’s Massage For My Parents For Their Anniversary In June 2021 & We Ended Up Having A Bad Storm & It Caused Severe Damage To The Spa. I Got A Call Saying That Everything Would Be Cancelled Until Further Notice. So I Call Back A Year Later Because From My Understanding, Business’s Need Time To Re-Build. I Tried To Book The Massage Again In August & Im Being Told That I Can’t Receive The Same Services Because They Are Not Offering Them At This Time Due To Reconstruction & Any Other Services That I Want Would Be An Extra Charge! MIND YOU: I Paid 50% Of The Payment For The Services & Then Still Had To Pay $250+ For The Services That I Originally Asked For??? ABSOLUTELY NOT! That’s NOT Fair! I Should Be Getting The Services I Paid For! And If I Can’t Then A Refund Should Be In Process. I’m Not Going To Pay Extra For Something I Didn’t Receive! I Understand There Was A Flood & The Business Needed Reconstruction But It Was An Inconvenience At The end Of The Day. When I Called To Try To Ask For A Resolution. I Kept Getting The Run Around For 2 1/2 Weeks Just For The Manager To Tell Me That I Can’t Get A Refund & All She Can Do Is Discount The Price (Which Was Barely A Discount) And I Would Still Have To Come Out $270! I WILL BE CONTACTING CORPORATE & I WANT MY MONEY!
I’ve been going to this location for years, went a few weeks back and waited an additional 30 minutes to have my services performed (I had an appointment). I then realized that my Technician had been working with another client, however instead of notifying the client that someone else was waiting to have their services performed, the Technician continued to engage with the customer. While waiting, I was offered tea, unfortunately they were out of both honey and sugar. After being taken back to start my service session, the Technician rushed, my pedicure lasted maybe 15 minutes. I always get their warm agave, however this time I received an exfoliation scrub....that truly ruined my mood/vibe (as I was really looking forward to the warm oil being placed on my feet). All in all, I understand that the service industry has had to increase their prices, but to increase them by 30%, while providing substandard services in return is unacceptable. This was a ONE time instance, my hope is that it stays this way. I’ll be going back (in hopes of them improving from my last experience), however if this has become their norm, I’ll have no choice other than to seek services from another company for a “relaxing” experience.
Had my very first facial experience with Johnny! He is INCREDIBLE at what he does and made me feel very comfortable. I have never had a facial and just this one time has me ADDICTED and wanting more! I highly recommend this spa and Johnny to anyone looking for some self care and relaxation! 20/10 all around!
Leva the massage therapist was GREAT but what wasn’t was that I did not get my full 50 min because appointment time was at 10 I arrived at 9:55 and did not get in the room until about 10:12 because no one told me to come early because change time was part of massage time. I advised Leva of this and she told me they are supposed to notify you on the confirmation call and apologized, but the lady simply DID NOT! I again told the receptionist and she said you should have received this info in a confirmation email and the call. I told her I did not receive a confirmation/reminder email and that the lady who called did not tell me she just said because the reminder call was after the 24hour mark I could not cancel without a fee which did not matter because I was definitely coming to the appointment. The receptionist looked in my profile and saw that I had NOT received a confirmation email and said well you are updated for the next time smh! I didn’t want my issue to be a reflection on Leva so I didn’t press. Since this place is in the thick of downtown and parking is a nightmare they definitely need to advise of the arrival time and due to the cost to receive services I definitely want ALL that I paid for. I truly hope to see Leva elsewhere but I probably won’t return because they could have even offered 10% off or a discount on a future visit but NOTHING, anything would have been sufficient just to acknowledge their error. Customer satisfaction is essential for the health and growth of a business. I spent $144 for a 35 min massage and still purchased bath bombs above the massage all because Leva was awesome and amazing.
Angel gave me a facial. She made sure to periodically assess my comfort levels, informed me about the products she was using before application. Wonderful experience.
My appointment time was 1pm. They changed it to 12pm. With me finding out exactly at 12pm the day of. They demanded me to come in at 2pm which I could not. My entire day was planned around my 12pm appointment time. I was not able to make it at 12pm and my card was still charged. I will be taking further action to get my money refunded. They are extremely unprofessional the manager is the worst. Their argument was “we been calling your phone all morning” this is ridiculous.
You’ve got to love Downtown & this Day Spa is located right in the thick of it in Downtown Detroit on Woodward. My massage was 10 out of 10. The architecture in the building is gorgeous& The smell in the room was refreshing. The music -perfectly peaceful & I got the rest my body needed. If you want a massage that’s a step up above the regulars, book yours here ASAP.
FANTASTIC! Special shout-out to my technician Asia! She was outstanding. Very professional and ensured I was comfortable and happy with my service. Would definitely request her again. The Spicy Mud Wrap with vichy shower was EVERYTHING! Highly recommend!
My 50 minute massage was only 42 minutes and not very relaxing nor the deep tissue I had asked and paid for. Also a little chaotic in the waiting room before I went in for my massage which started the experience off poorly. The place felt disorganized.
The massage person was ok but the reception staff was horrible and the place smells like mild dew......smh will not be back. It was a great spa to go to three years ago dont know who running the place now.
My previous employer offered free reflexology foot massages and I really enjoyed those. Afterwards I would always feel relaxed and in a rather good mood.I decided to give this place a try and was not disappointed. Woodhouse Day Spa has great atmosphere. The decor, the soothing sounds, and very courteous and professional staff all combine to create a great experience. The massage itself was fine I got the 50 minute Swedish massage it was my first Swedish massage. I prefer the reflexology in regards to how I felt after. Brooklyn did a great job.
Woodhouse Day Spa was amazing! They hosted our Holiday spa day, for 6. We had massages, pedicures, and facials. One of our group had a body scrub instead of a facial, and she loved it. The spa was very clean. We dressed in soft, fluffy robes. We were served mimosas, and they were yummy! I will definitely recommend Woodhouse Day Spa to anyone that asks.
Looking at the reviews I have to admit as well, they are super rude here. And if youre late then theres no point of even going. I was 10 minutes late for my facial, but after signing in they made me wait almost 20 minutes before anyone even came to get me. My facial was 15 minutes by the time I waited and the road outside was under construction! They were ripping up the road right outside my window. It was so loud, my body shook on the table and I left with a horrible headache. The rude woman who did my facial even said it was crazy loud. When I asked the woman when paying about it she just told me it was unfortunate... HORRIBLE SERVICE. I was thinking of brining clients here but changed my mind. Youre better off at MGMs salon. Theyre super nice and much more accommodating.
Staff was extremely unprofessional and rude, they did not greet the guests properly and were rushing to get clients in and out. Manager was professional in trying to smooth over my complaint, but did not offer anything for the terrible experience. Had me fill out the first visit form while getting my wax, which was done in a very random way, no cleansing of the skin prior or powder used, applying wax in random directions, also there were strips of hair left, very sloppy, seemed like the training was not there. Worst wax in 10 years of waxing experience, waxer needed further quality training and customer service training. Massage was mediocre, best part was the tea and drinks offered. I would never recommend this spa to anyone looking for a serene, relaxing experience.
I cannot Express how much I enjoyed my service at Woodhouse Day Spa today! The scenery was beautiful, the staff was amazing, and personable. Also, this was my first time getting a facial and the lady did amazing job. My face look so good. I purchased the Classic Spa. I will be back again.
I had my very first pedicure...and my pedicurist was Toni. She was so personable, easy to talk too and made this an amazing first experience. Cant wait for the champagne to comeback, but they have a forever client in me if they maintain staff like Toni.
This review is tough. I was really looking forward to supporting this business but my experience with the illuminating facial was not good.My esthetician was very kind and I enjoyed the majority of my service but I have a few significant concerns:1. I was not prompted with any specific questions about my skin or skincare routine.2. In my experience, esthetician’s will take a bit of time to visually evaluate what is going on with the skin prior to beginning the service and this didn’t seem to happen either.3. As a result I did experience a mild chemical burn from one of the applications. I had to see a doctor and got a prescription for a topical to help it heal.4. I sent an email regarding this to the Woodhouse but they did not reply to me. It’s been several days.In addition to this, while temperatures were taken upon arrival and the staff was wearing masks, I noticed my esthetician had her mask below her nose when my service concluded. I had my eyes closed during my service so I do not know how long it was like that for. Additionally, gloves weren’t worn. I’ve had estheticians wear gloves during non-pandemic times and this seems like an appropriate precaution that could easily be taken. I wasn’t bothered by this initially but the more I reflect the less comfortable I feel with my entire experience.I do hope management will review my comments and take appropriate action to ensure the safety and comfort of future clients.
Decent massage, friendly staff upfront. But, the massage table was very worn. I could not fully relax because all I heard was the table creeking with each movement. The massage did feel rushed.
I just received an amazing Facial from Shannon! It was so peaceful and relaxing! She was kind, professional and all around amazing! I would highly recommend! Best gift from my hubby! 🎁💖
Very sweet ladies and relaxing atmosphereThank you!!!
Arrived and the 2 receptionists sat on the phone and didnt even acknowledge us for 5 minutes. Then the whole place was not very clean. My friends massage therapist wore headphones and listened to her music so loud it wasnt relaxing. Very much not a serene spa experience, wasnt offered any tea or checked on for our two different services.
Myself and my mother had a great experience. We had a Swedish massage and mine was conducted by Ms Asia who was on time and AHmazing. My mother and I also received a great pedicure by Ms Toni and Ms Saundra. Loved them both. clearly professionals. that scrub was needed lolThis was my first time visiting!
I came here for a retreat as the place was a short distance from my hotel. I was fortunate to secure a last minute appointment with the woodhouse spa. One of the highlights of this spot is the hospitality lounge that caters to a 20 minute of self-calming session while you sit, chill, and let time pass indolently. Enjoying the cookies and tea were part of the bonus :DBrandi, my therapist was very skilful and knew how to work on my knots (from bad posture) properly. The quality of the massage was just superb and second to none !This spa is truly an oasis of comfort and relaxation. Id love to thank them for the lovely experience!
I loved the staff, location and the decor. Based on that I give them four stars. My hour message is not impressive at all. I had better at a fitness center. It felt like just a rub down with oil. Bot sure I would go back, others in my party felt the same. But they plenty of other services, so I say try it.
I definitely enjoyed my experience at the Woodhouse day spa. it is a very tranquil enviroment. Soothing staff. The massage was everything I needed. My massage therapist was very profession. They provide you with a PLUSH robe, Comfortable sandals, warm neck wrap, and drinks. Birthday guest receive a percentage off of one service. Great birthday gift choice!!
Incredible service, amazing environment, more amenities than I imagined! The original 1920s lights from the original dress shop are amazing, and the staff are the most nice, caring, and professional staff Ive encountered in any spa. Tracy is amazing for manicures and back massages, and Mya was so pleasant and fun to book my services through. All in all, I will be coming back and referring my friends, as this is a total hidden gem in downtown Detroit!
Myself and two of my friends were visiting from Canada celebrating a birthday and loved everything about our experience. The staff were friendly and the services were beyond any of our expectations. For a spa to be downtown busy Detroit, we found ourselves lost in a tranquil relaxing atmosphere as soon as we stepped in the door and walked down the stairs. We will definitely be back!Thank you ladies
I am so annoyed with this place! I purchased a gift card and booked an appointment for my moms birthday to have a swedish massage and aromatherapy bath. Her birthday experience was ruined because they only had her down for a massage. I specifically booked with place because of the bath! When asked about adding the services booked they informed me that they had no availability. I could have booked her a massage somewhere else and cheaper for the mediocre service and forgetfulness of the staff. Now theres a gift card with money wasted on it. I would not reccomend this place to anyone. So disappointed!
It has been a few hard months and I was looking forward to just taking a moment to relax and breathe. I booked a mani and pedi for me and a friend. As much as I like supporting detroit businesses I won’t be going back:1. The pedi started with water way too hot and had to wait for it to cool down.2. They then scrapped my toe and waited for me to stop bleeding3. The nail tech. took off their mask almost immediately and kept it off the entire time.4. The tech also answered their phone twice5. The pedi was scheduled for a 50 min but was out of there within 30 min (including the time waiting for the water to cool down and me not bleeding)6. The manager popped in the room to talk about the “next clients”The experiences was rushed and far from relaxing. This isn’t the only review with ppl stating that the techs are not wearing masks so beware!
I have been using the Woodhouse Day Spa since its opening in 05 or 06 (my memory fails me on the original opening date). The atmosphere is relaxing and invites the patrons to relax and enjoy themselves. This is the second massage that I have received from Josie. She just has magic hands! I have severe osteoarthritis in the spine, neck, hands and feet as well as a hip replacement. When I get off of the table, Josie has me feeling like a new person! The pain is minimized and I feel like I am floating on air! She focuses on my bad areas applying good pressure to loosen up the joints. She also loosens the scar tissue on my hip in incision allowing for increased blood flow and movement. Thank goodness for Josie and the Woodhouse Day Spa!
This was the Best Experience I have ever had at a spa! The ambiance was soo relaxing, the complimentary refreshments was a plus. The Masseuse was perfect. I literally fell asleep and can’t wait to go again! I went in to be relaxed and receive the ultimate experience!
Visited Woodhouse Day Spa - Detroit for the first time this weekend. Had a great time. Atmosphere and staff were awesome. And, Asia gave me the best Swedish massage Ive ever had. Cant wait to go back!
We used this spa for my sister’s birthday and we all had a relaxing experience and they opened a little earlier to accommodate us. Nicole (I hope I have that right) was an amazing masseuse and could pinpoint everyone’s ailments and things that were on their hearts 😳😃. Ambiance was great and products used were wonderful. Would definitely visit this place again.
This was my very 1st day spa experience. Josie was the young lady who worked on me. She made me so comfortable & her hands were magic. I would recommend her hands to work your muscles.i feel like a new woman. ❤️
What a terrible experience I had today! This spa has some of the worst therapists Ive ever come across. I get massages monthly and I know how things are supposed to work; we were shorted 15 minutes of our massage time, the massages were awful and my therapist sneezed in her hands and continue to massage me. DISGUSTING! Reception was very nice and helpful. The two therapists overheard me telling the reception desk that we were shorted 15 minutes, then they proceeded to walk out and approach me like a couple of thugs. I will never come back to this place again. Such a disappointment!
I had called the spa back in May (May 23rd) to reserve the day for my bach party. A deposit was taken. I called to confirm (August 25th) booking 2 weeks out and they said they had no record of the reservation and they had no availability. They did not offer any resolution aside from saying their old employee booked the event improperly and provided a refund.I am 2 weeks from the bach party, and now have to ID another activity.I am extremely disappointed in the service and treatment of customers. I will not be returning or booking future services. Please beware if planning large gatherings with this given spa.
Avoid. Prices are too high for pedicures, staffing is low (although Constance is WONDERFUL) and they seem under pressure and rushed. The first time i was there was great, but they knew it was a first time visit and probably were putting on their best face. This time, it felt like we ( i always book with my sister) were in somebodys random basement. Paper on the floor, clorox wipes, broom, dustpan, a couple of balled up towels, a light actually blew out while we were there. First time, they were all wd u like a robe? (Yes). This time, no robe even though I booked the pedi with the leg massage and i was wearing skinny jeans...so i ended up with barely an ankle massage. They rushed our service so much that my big toe was trimmed and polished at an odd angle, looking like an 80s asymmetrical haircut. My sisters pedicurist never warmed her water after the initial warming (Kirsten!) and my sis was not pleased. At least Connie asked if My water was warm and added some for my comfort. The proprietors are to blame, they are complacent as hell.
From a person who suffers ptsd from getting touched the masseuse was highly professional and tailored around my comfort zone. I felt completely relax and happy! Highly recommend Khia as a masseuse she did amazing!
This place is nice and the front staff was very nice but the service was very very poor. i bought the $250 spa day. pedicure, facial, massage. the pedicure was great. the facial was ok. she didn’t ask me what my skin care regimen was until half way through the service. never asked me what bothered me and never told me what she was putting on my skin. My least favorite part was when she rubbed my feet then touched my face. why are you even rubbing my feet while giving me a facial? i couldn’t get that thought out of head the rest of the time i was there. after my facial, i received the massage. which was not good at all. she never asked me what areas were bothering me. i filled out the form stating what i like and don’t like (which every other spa i’ve gone to actually reads) i stated on there multiple time that my hips need attention. guess what never got touch ONCE? my hips.this was the worst spa experience i’ve ever had. i would give Massage Green a chance before ever coming here again. waste of money, time and now i’m in pain and less relaxed than before going to the spa.
Went for a spa day with my granddaughter a gift from her.we did facials and a massage and ended with a pedi. the women that did mine was not to friendly plus all she did was a basic toe nail painting. Very short . My granddaughter fortunately received the full treatment. I unfortunately had someone having a bad day...cant say.
My daughter & I enjoyed our spa day @ the downtown Detroit location. We received professional and caring massages from Ms. Asia and Ms. Brooklyn. And we also received WONDERFUL pedicures from Ms. Sandra and Ms. Toni - we were so relaxed that we nearly fell asleep! We enourage everyone to patronize Woodhouse Day Spas downtown Detroit location for their SUPREME spa services!
This was my first time going to the Woodhouse Day Spa in Detroit. I took my husband with me for a duet deep tissue massage to celebrate his 53rd birthday. It was also. The experience was more than I expected. We have planned to go back monthly. Lovvvvvved it!
Very clean spa. Excellent customer service. Massages were amazing.
Dont waste your time. My mom brought me here as a graduation gift, so naturally we were both looking forward to a wonderful day. We were both getting a facial and shellac mani/pedi. I planned to coordinate the color of my nails with my school colors so they would match for the commencement ceremony! For starters, the spa was over-booked for the day, so we had to change/put our things in the mens changing room. We were also put in the quiet room with a bachelorette party...But we were flexible and made the best out of it.After we left the spa, my mom noticed her shellac peeling up on the sides. She decided to go back the same day and bring it to their attention since she paid so much for the service and didnt want to leave unhappy. An employee would be able to re-do my moms nails after she finished somebody elses, but since we had been sitting at the salon for 5 hours already (and our parking was about to expire), my mom just decided to leave. She figured that as long as I was happy with my nails (since it was a celebration for me), then that was all that mattered.Well, within 3 days my shellac nail polish was peeling. I was extremely upset. I have gotten shellac done MANY times and I have never had it peel within days of getting it done. If it had been cheaply done by a local salon, I wouldnt have been too upset. But since this was a service done by a highly rated spa, at a high price, and for a special occasion, I was not having it. I wanted my nails to look nice for my graduation commencement and now I was going to have to get them redone. I called the spa to request a refund and the manager was completely unprofessional. She told me that she didnt know how to complete a refund since it had been almost a week since I came in (mind you I made this call only 4 days after my service) and she mentioned that the shellac couldve peeled due to oily nail beds. I responded saying that shellac is supposed to last for 2 weeks, and she corrected me by saying its supposed to last UP to 2 weeks and how her own nails peel after just a couple of days. As I mentioned, I have NEVER had shellac peel off within 3 days of getting it...actually, I dont think Ive ever had shellac peel off within the first week. The manager asked me to email the spa a picture of my chipped nails since this is the first time somebody has called about this kind of issue. She said she would stay in contact with me via email once she received the images. I emailed the pictures right after I hung up the phone. Its been 5 days since I sent that email and still no response. This place is a joke.
Furniture is at least over 10 yrs old...in both quiet rooms... Dusty and who knows what is on them... If the same general manager from 2009, India Washington, than Oh Lord I see why when speaking to management you only get so far... The Owners are the true definition of cheap...money hungry and never give anything back to staff or their customers. Im truly surprised this place is still up and running...
Great service! I had a massage and manicure and pedicure. The environment was very relaxing and I felt very comfortable before receiving my services. I will definitely return and plan on recommending Woodhouse to others.
They truly treated us like family!! And they made my proposal more perfect than I could have ever imagined!!! A perfect welcome to Detroit and a wonderful way to begin the rest of our lives!!!!! Thank you ladies for the wonderful day!! And oh yeah, the message was heavenly!!!!!
Relaxing and peaceful spa, great parking alternative/(2hr parking limit/voucher good idea to confirm w/Woodhouse before visit ) Friendly reminder,Gift cards expire in 5 years(example: giftcard purchased/ recieved in Jan.2020, still have couple more days(in 2022) and 2 more years to utilize that gift card/ visit Woodhouse Day Spa by 2025😊) after date of purchase, gift cards are kept on Woodhouse Day Spa record at Detroit location-if gift cards are no longer in possession of the recipient/reciever, the Spa may search your name(If name of recipient was given/provide I.D.)Recipient may utilize the gift card 👍
I received a gift card for this place for a prenatal massage, I’m down to the final weeks of pregnancy, I’ve called MULTIPLE times, left messages (the voicemail says someone will return call by the end of the day) and u can’t book online AND NO ONE HAS CALLED ME BACK nor have they answered the phone. We are going on day 4 with no call back and I am steadily calling and no answer. I didn’t want to make the drive to Rochester because of how far a long I am. but I will instead. ATLEAST they answered the phone & cared to have my services. I’m disappointed.
Beautifully appointed spa is truly a hidden gem! Once you descend the stairs you are transported to another realm that calms the nerves and soothes the senses. Every service I have ever had was completed professionally, efficiently and left me refreshed and reinvigorated. Woodhouse is a must!
Place is old. Furniture is caved in and uncomfortable. Table rocks back and fourth in sitting area. Unsanitary kitchen area. Fake plants that do nothing but catch dust and lint: everywhere. Foot spas are a mere basin. For the prices they charge they dont have their stuff together. I was extremely disappointed.Response from the ownera week agoHello Sunshinin JB! Sorry you didnt care for the environment of the Woodhouse Day Spa Detroit. Our decor is vintage and many guest enjoy our signature scents and vintage furnishings. Thank you for your comment, as all comments are welcome.I know what vintage means. The furniture is flat out old and worn down not in a vintagey way either. Old as in time to be replaced sis.
Very disappointed with my experience here. The front desk staff were not accommodating and after voicing my disappointment, I did not even receive a courtesy apology or even an acknowledgement of my disappointment. The masseuse was okay but my service felt rushed and I did not feel like my business was appreciated. I will not be returning and do not recommend this establishment.
I love the wonderful experience I have here every time I visit. Very professional staff, very calm and relaxing atmosphere, and the massages are spectacular. I always get the Deep Tissue Massage....My favorite spa!
Customer Service is very poor. I could not speak to a live person and was told they only communicate through email??!! They for sure lost my Teams business. DTOUR Spa at Motor City was the absolute best 💯
I have emailed FIVE times to inquire about an $500+ gift card order. The funds were deducted from my account on 7/30 and I still have not received a response. The last I heard, they could not locate my order. Why am I emailing so many times to get a product that I purchased??? i would love to call, if I had time available to do so. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! This is a spa with incompetent people running the business. I am embarrassed for them.

The Service I receive today was Incredible and Amazing from the Staff. I dont remember everyone name but Toni is awesome and she has very unique customer service skills..Keep up the great job Woodhouse Spa Staff members.
Yesterday we went with my husband for massages, for our honeymoon, no only that is soo expensive, We paid for massages that not only took less time, but also a terrible service, I don’t recommend this place 👎👎👎👎
I ALWAYS find myself at Woodhouse when I need to unwind and escape the busy city!
I have to say it was definitely one of the best spa experiences that I’ve had. The staff was friendly and attentive. My massage therapist was excellent. . Without out I would return to Woodhouse Day Spa.
Had an unforgettable experience for my birthday with my family. Everyone was attentive and accommodating and made it very special for us. We will definitely be back! Thank you for making my birthday memorable!
I received a full-body scrub. It was amazing. Shannyn was professional and polite. Great service! I can’t wait for my next appointment!
I had an amazing time at Woodhouse recently. Shantel and Angie were a great help. My therapist Kris was awesome! I recommend them as your go to spa downtown!
Paid for my mom to have a massage with Josie. She absolutely raved about Ms Josie. Thank you for taking care of my mom. She will be back
This is the best Spa Experience I’ve ever had! Kudos to Leva & Johnnie!!! The services they rendered were TOP TIER!!! I will definitely be back! Thank you to the excellent staff!
Loved the hot stone massage! Everyone was professional, ambiance was calm and peaceful, and the smell was lovely and calming. Makes you forget the place is off of a busy street.
We went last weekend, and everything was amazing! These girls do a wonderful job, the atmosphere is beautiful and relaxing, and I had the best massage.
Had an opportunity to visit Woodhouse Spa today for the first time and it was an AWESOME experience. The staff and the service was wonderful. Ill definitely be back.
Had the best facial today by Johnny! My skin looks so amazing I will definitely be coming back to see him again!! 11/10
All I can say is Maddox and Ashley are great ask for them. The best ever in the world Craig.
Very nice place. Wasn’t totally impressed with my therapist, hence the 3 stars.
I got a Swedish massage here and it was very thorough and relaxing. It was a great value for the price. This spa offers some services special rates during certain hours.
I have been going to Woodhouse for at least ten years. Always professional staff and prompt service. I especially love the hot stone massage and the Vichy shower! Delish!!!!
Wonderful experience from start to finish. And a strong and beautiful staff!!! Deep tissue massase with Nicole was absolutely perfect! Feeling it today, in a good way.
Shannyn was absolutely amazing! Her care, knowledge and true dedication to her craft was definitely noticed and felt! I so appreciate you
Awesome experience again. I came back in June and back again for the winter. Its time to self care 😘 this is it. Mimosa 😘. Josie was amazing 😌.
I love this place. Everyone is so nice and accommodating. I definitely would recommend them to anyone who is looking to get the best massage ever.
I had a facial and massage and they were awesome! Josie was the best! Will definitely be back.
Loved my time spent at Woodhouse. Shannon was wonderful. Definitely booking with her next time!
The Lazy Day was Amazing! If the company above was not having an event (moving furniture) I think it would have been even more better. It was not a place of relaxation this time 😞😒.
I had such an amazing experience! Everyone was so nice and welcoming. If you’re downtown and need a quick getaway this is your spot.
The young lady who answered the phone is very rude and disrespectful. Now I am afraid to call them again and try to book an appointment. The sad part about it is that Ive never had a message before. I hope staff members at other spa locations are not as rude and disrespectful.
I love them! I heard about them from someone else, and have patronized them over the last 8 years. Ill keep sending others their way as well!
Woodhouse Detroit is my go-to for quality self care. The ambiance, staff, and of course the services serve to make each visit an affordable luxury.
Poor management and bad customer service! Don’t waste your time or money, I’ve come here multiple times and it keeps going downhill. As of this past experience I will never visit here again, Beach House Day Spa is the best place to go!
Really enjoyed the experience. Had full body massage. Left the spa feeling like I was walking on a cloud!
Woodhouse Rochester Hills is sooo much better. It’s a real “spa and pamper” feel.
Great spa! Parking validation offered. The esthetician was friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend for any service!
Im very disappointed in our experience we went in for a couples massage the room was cold and table was cold as well. both myself and my husband had to share a locker for are things inside of mens
I came here for waxing, got it done from Alice and it was a wonderful experience. The service was great and the place was very relaxing. She is very patient. :)
Was so disappointed when they said, not without an appointment. I had just arrived from New York for a Memorial Service and this place was recommended by the hotel staff.
Terrible. I’ve been callin for days, submitted a email and even drove to the Detroit location and no one answered the door. I also stood out with a lady who had an appointment and she couldn’t get it. Needed to book a spa party but I’ll take my money elsewhere !
The best place in Cincinnati to unwind and relax. Massage, facials, pedicures, manicures, the works!! First class, all the way.
I had an appointment that I missed because I was in the hospital. They charged my card $400 for services I did not receive.I called them and explained why the appointment was missed .They did not seem to care. Poor customer service.
So relaxing and calming from the first moment walking in. Everyone was so nice. Ill be back soon. Thank you Josie!
Kristia was great ! Professional and on time . The other workers were also professional attentive. The place was fabulous.
Definitely not a the spa experience I am used to. I have had better service for half the price. I wont go back there.
My wife and I love this place. Friendly staff and the service is outstanding. We have used their services numerous times and we will be back again in the future.
Terrible customer service and cancels appt without your knowledge. save yourself the trouble not worth it dont even deserve 1 star.
Good spa, nice location, great services offered. Its not as luxurious as their Rochester Hills location, though.
A-1 service, they took a facial to the next level. Loved the catering from all staff, orderly, excellent ambiance, amazing experience
I called to just inquire about service and who ever answered the phone sounded so irritated at initial greeting that I thought I had the wrong number. Then when I get to asking my question the response was so dry and aggravated I just said, “Thank you” and hung up. If the phone conversation goes like this I can only imagine what else and after reading the reviews I think I’ll just go elsewhere.
Bought a Groupon and after several rounds of calls and email, no response. Woodhouse is a waste of time and money, spend both elsewhere.
The service here is amazing! Very professional staff. Calm, warm, and welcoming environment from beginning to end.
Im not a real massage person but what I experienced was amazing.
Great service and wonderful place, Constance is wonderful. Got a pedicure today and feeling refreshed thanks to my lady.
THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE
Massage lasted 42 minutes instead of the advertised 50 minutes, which was very disappointing. The massage was good otherwise.
Very conveniently located, with a relaxing and professional atmosphere. Perfect for a little romantic getaway or some self-care.
Great menu of services. Relaxing atmosphere. Great massage
Excellent experience the two times Ive been.
High level service, an array of skin and body treatments, and fine touches designed for relaxing ambience.
They over charge the price , super expensive and terrible service, I don’t recommend this place
Been here for massages and facials felt well token care of! 100%
This is my first time and Leva B. gave me a great experience!!
One of the best experiences I’ve ever encountered. The staff is very friendly, and the services were amazing!!!
Excellent customer service! The massage therapist was also amazing.
Horrible customer service. Charged a friends card even though an appointment was not kept. Nearly $600! When contacted, they thought this was funny.
This is a wonderful place to get a great massage Leva and Josie is wonderful 😀
I enjoyed everything about my visit abd plan to go back with my daughters to experience it.
I felt like a Queen! Massage, facial and pedi was awesome and worth it !!!!!!
They were very professional and on time. I left feeling so relaxed. I will be back very soon.
Pleasant atmosphere...I received excellent service...clean, comfortable, relaxing...I will be back...
Great romantic getaway!! Couples massage is highly recommended.
