Happy Head Foot Reflexology and Massage - Rancho San Diego

One large shared room and about ten private rooms- it’s a big place. It seems all the massage therapists are from China and have limited English so that is a limitation. Each table has a button you can press to get translation help - but the receptionist just uses an app! She didn’t even know if they spoke Mandarin or Cantonese! Maybe other receptionists are bilingual.I got a 1 hour deep tissue massage and it was good. Not fantastic - I have had fantastic massages in the past and it is hard to find someone who is truly gifted. These less-expensive places are usually a crapshoot in terms of quality.I was given an envelope to give a cash tip. The therapist waited in the lobby for me to come out, Handed me a glass of water and I gave him the envelope. So that was all fine. It sounds like other people had negative experiences with the tips.It’s so nice to be free to communicate so that’s a downside to this place for me.

I have been a loyal client at the Rancho San Diego Happy Head for well over a decade and have never had an issue like I did today. My therapist today Helen was fantastic, the rest of the experience was awful. They booked a large party in the foot reflexology room so the entire room was full. All of these people came in 30 minutes into my massage. They were loud and talking, the therapists were talking to each other and the constant scraping of stools and foot basins was extremely distracting and not at ALL relaxing. I addressed this with the manager or owner, unsure. It was a pregnant female out front. I expressed my concerns and let them know I’ve never had a negative experience like this before. I was told well we had a large group come in and it’s the weekend so we are busy. (it’s a weekday, not the weekend) and next time you should use earplugs. The negative experience was made out to be my fault. That being said I will spend my hard earned $120 for somewhere else who cares about loyal customer experiences.

So happy with my service today at the rancho location. Ben did such a phenomenal job with my parental massage today. My body was in so much pain and I was able to get so much tension removed from my lower back, hips and upper shoulders. Staff is always happy and upbeat while checking in at the front desk.

First time going here and this will be our new go to massage place! Customer service is great and the variety of services at the prices are a dream.

I had a 60 minute massage with Rick. He was great. I had neck and shoulder pain and he made it go away. He was gentle yet effective. I would completely recommend.

Fabulous place for a quick massage or a planned relaxation. Quiet location. Very easy to relax. Always come back to this location.

Not up to standards I have to expect from private practices. Ive had 6 massages there with 5 different masseuse. Consistently, the same attention is not paid bilateral ly (more done on one side compared to the other). It is difficult to communicate what areas of the body you want worked on. I believe all practioners speak Chinese, only receptionist speaks English. She communicates with providers using drawing of body and pointing.Everyone is polite and professional. Setting is serene

It was my first time getting a massage there. I was able to get right in thankfully. I paid for everything in advance. The massage was good, but it would be nice if they had a space in the room for the hot towels so the therapist didnt have to leave the room. The only other complaint is that the therapist walked up to the front with me and waited for a tip. I took care of that in advance as well, but I dont find that waiting for the tip is professional. As a former massage therapist, this is something I never did. Never have a client feel as if they have to tip, and if they do, be thankful for it.

I absolutely loved the message I got! It was the one hour swedish message and my back and whole body just feel so much better. Im a person with high anxiety and Im just not the best at relaxing, but this was absolutely fantastic! It did hurt at times, but had to just breathe and let them work the knots out. The place was clean, and has a great vibe. The front desk staff was super friendly and accommodating, the message it self was just what I needed. I will be back!

My masseuse smelled like cigarettes. I tried not to think about it during the 1 hour foot massage but it was all I could think about. I went home smelling cigarettes, as he massaged my face and scalp with his tobacco fingers. Parts of the massage were nice, but there not that much focus on the feet for what you would expect from a foot massage, it was okay. Disappointed overall :(

I paid for a deep tissue massage but got something closer to a Swedish massage with stretches included. I expressed that I needed more pressure but no luck. The massage therapist worked hard but it wouldve been nice to actually get what I paid for. At the end of the massage I was pressured into tipping for the service despite not being fully satisfied with the service and expressing my discontent. It wasnt all bad; the setting (lighting, ambience) was nice and the room was comfortable.

One of the best massages I’ve ever had. My sister and I did Swedish Massages, and our masseuses Ben & Tony were great! They were incredibly professional.The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the ambiance was very relaxing.Highly recommend and will be back soon!

Received such care and consideration from both Melanie and Cassidy at the front desk and Owen was an absolute amazing masseuse. Already looking forward to when I go back.

POOR MASSAGE WORKERS UNETHICAL. Went to Happy Head Foot Reflexology and Massage in Rancho San Diego, Left With Angry Heads. Me and my homeless husband went there to our first massages since weve been married (4 yrs) after receiving first SSI money due to being medically disabled, Front staff provided a envelope for tips, didnt have much and the massage lady was complaining about the tip and gave us the evil eye. I guess tips are mandatory here or you may get the same treatment. Massagers are suppose to be healers, not money mongers. Totally Unethical. Slopping on the moisturizers without warming it up. Having to listen to the booth next to you talking about the Padres game, having the massager ask you if your okay after being rough and hurts your back and neck and then gets upset with what little cash we had, they need to hire professional and ethical workers and take action on customers complaints.

I usually get massages monthly, to relieve stress and relax after a months work- as working and going to school is both mentally and physically taxing. This is my personal favorite location. The only other place that rivals, is Angel Massage, in Mira Mesa, and I had a wonderful experience there, but the only issue for me is the long drive, since I live in east county. Here at Happy Head, prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is perfect, with calming decor and colors, dim lighting, and relaxing music (either Asian or New Age), and the massages are so good they make me want to fall asleep at the finish- and Im a very light sleeper! It seems that all therapists are trained to massage in a similar and highly effective fashion, knowing where and how to touch and apply pressure. Ive been here three times, so far, and I will continue to come back. Christina, the receptionist, was very welcoming and friendly, and my last therapist was MIchael, and he gave me the massage I needed :)

I am a horse trainer and I often have back pain. Everywhere now these days! I got a gift certificate over the holidays and made an appointment for the Signature “Happy Head” massage because they focus on the back. I wanted deep pressure and Ben was myMassage Therapist. It was AMAZING! I used to run a chiropractic and massage office and it was better than any massage I have had. I am booking another massage for next week. Thanks Ben!

I come here for the regular happy head massage; perfect for me as it concentrates on the back and neck. The rooms are clean and tranquil, theyve always gotten me in at the last minute, every masseuse Ive had has been good, and they offer wine in the waiting room. Perfect way to relax before the massage.

I told the front desk lady that I needed the masseuse to focus on my lower back. When I was in the massage room, the masseuse came in and asked me if I needed her to focus on my neck and I said No, back assuming front desk told her lower back. She hardly massaged my lower back which was the reason I booked a massage to begin with. I called back 5 days later to tell them and they said that I could book another massage and didnt feel at fault and consider to offer a 10-15 minute complimentary lower back massage. I am not going back.

If we could give a half star that would be more accurate. Receptionist was very friendly, but after checking in it was all down hill. We were there for a couples massage (both swedish) yet we got two different massages. Both masseuses were whispering and laughing the entire 45 min of the hour massage they were in the room (both left for 10 min to get wet, luke warm sand paper towels). His masseuse was extremely handsy and mine decided on his own to do a deep tissue massage. Neither of us had issues when we arrived and both of us left with severe back pain and multiple bruises. I received a foot massage immediately followed by a face and scalp massage (headache inducing) - not sanitary at all. If all that wasnt bad enough, the oil was ice cold, and both workers had rough skin/hands (maybe why they preferred to use their forearms and elbows). Furthermore, we were followed out to the reception area and watched until we left a tip we didnt think was earned. Please do not waste your money here.

It was an ok massage nothing to write home about . I was going to leave a 3 atleast and possibly come back until as I was leaving I got asked 2x about a tip 3x total . Im not a fan of being asked over n over nor do I like to feel pressured to do so. Especially with the masseuse hovering I will not be back to this location.

I live in Texas. But every time we visit our daughter in San Diego, California I get my massage here. Love it and took my husband for first time! The receptionist Stephanie was such a pleasure to meet and greet you with a smile.😊

Very disappointing.Just about the worst massage Ive ever paid for.Therapist didnt have good communication skills, and had a poor feel for how much pressure to apply.I actually ended up with a headache afterwards (which has never happened to me before) which I think may be due to the over-the-top pressure applied to my temples, and general tension I experienced during the whole session.Massage was good/therapeutic/relaxing for only about 30-40% of the time of the session.Additionally, I was turned off /concerned by the following:a) I got short changed by about 15 minutes of time: started 5 minutes late, ended almost 10 minutes early, and also stopped numerous times in the middle to excuse himself and go out of the room (at least twice, because he was coughing).b) Did I mention the coughing? Thats kind of concerning, in these COVID times.c) Therapist was literally picking his nose while he was waiting for his tip. It made me wonder about the cleanliness of the whole operation.I wont be back.

I have had many massages before but this is definitely my new place of choice! Friendly staff, great environment, reasonable pricing, & amazing massages! Ill never go anywhere other than Happy Head again!

I gave the place 2 stars because the lobby was nice and the lady who checked us in was really nice. We had a couples massage and the lady I had (I was told her name was Jennifer) was one of the most annoying massage therapists ever. Push, pinch and rub .....repeat.....I had to ask her to use oil and then she only did once so when she did rub (very vigorously) I damn near got rug burns. She was also all over the place with no fluidity, so I never knew where she was going to be or push on. I kept waiting to see if she would actually give me a massage but after an hour she said bye bye. I was almost relieved it was over although I was $55 poorer. That said my wife loved her girl named Sofia....glad she was happy!

I have worked in the Hospitality Industry for over 30+ years. When I received a tip/gratuity, I never took the money in front of the Patron, unfolded the bill(s) and looked into the Patron eyes and made a face (of acceptance/shock, EVER!I visit this shop as a walk-in, filled out card (up sale), taken into the serenity room for my massage. Upon completion of the service, the Masseuse met me at the reception desk with water. I provided my tip as you are required to pay all fees upfront. Its not my job to pay workers their hourly wage, this is the employers responsibility. If there is a wage conflict it is not up to the Patron to fulfill the gap if there is one. Gratuities to me are bonuses, not wages. Either this Masseuse didnt receive the appropriate customer service training from management or needs refresher training or needs to move on as I have. . . . .

My 1st visit yesterday I got a 90 minute deep tissue massage from Brutal Bruce. It felt like I was laundry being vigorously scrubbed on a washboard. He seemed like a nice enough man but PLEASE, somebody teach him how to give a proper massage.

Massage was ok. My therapist left for almost 10min for hot towels and ended up tweaking my lower back somehow. First time at this location, so just hoping to avoid the same masseur

Fantastic place. My only gripe about it is the high traffic. Easily hear people honking or trucks backing up.Otherwise its dark and relaxing. Nearby shopping plaza so perfect to fit it in between errands.Customer service is always on point. Ive cube here plenty of times now and is my main location i go to.

More like UNHAPPY HEAD, just a heads up this has a mandatory minimum tip of $10. Anything less and who knows what will happen. Apparently, $5 is not enough...I understand its probably a cheap tip, but cmon mandatory minimum. I dont agree with that rule.

They stayed open in spite of restrictions, kept the place clean, wore masks. Adjusted massages appropriately (no face massages) and did me a world of pain relief as I have fibromyalgia.

Just the relaxing music and smell of the relaxation aromas are enough to put you in a trance once you step inside. The massage therapists are so good. I absolutely love this place.

Absolutely Fabulous!!!!! I recommend the hemp CBD Oil with your massage. I feel Great!!! Highly recommend this place as I suffer from arthritis, anxiety, depression, and a few other ailments. Love them!!❣❣❣❣❣

Went in on a Sunday nite for a 1hr massage and unfortunately I didn’t get the therapists name but have to say did a terrific job getting the knots out on my back,, been here 3x and have not been disappointed,,, staffs great,, nice clean professional environment,,, calming rooms and relaxing music,,definitely will be coming back often!!

The masseuse of this shop is not professional massager at all, do not have masseur license, massage is especially unprofessional, rub make my skin ache very much, the room is unsanitary also, towel is dirty, the towel that covers a face is a smell of ugly foot
