Small dance floor but big enough to take travel a little at a time. If youre visiting from out of if town, its be worth a visit. Lots of line dancing, but they still get a few partner dances in a row. Most of the kids only know how to swing, but some of them are aware of their surroundings enough so if you can navigate down the line of dance.Standard bar with all the usual beer and alcohol. Hot dog truck with grill was outside.Probably wont find anything better for country in SoCal.

Super fun place! I came here for a birthday party, and had fun trying to learn to line dance. We werent drinking, but they have a full bar and food available. We were there on a Saturday and there was a live band!

Great country bar with line dancing. Tuesdays/Thursdays has more advanced line Dancing lessons with weekends having more beginner lessons 7pm-8:30/45pm. Food is on-property via a food trailer/truck with the bar itself on serving drinks. Staff os always great/friendly. This place can get BUSY on the weekend and os a great alternative to the frat/sorority bars-....I mean Moonshine Flats/Beach. Parking is immediately in front and an additional lot to the left of the bar property itself.

Fun Bar! was packed when I got there and barely enough room to join the dance floor for a line dance but its a smaller venue so thats probably pretty normal. The crowd thinned out later on and there was more room to dance later in the night. Everyone was really nice! Good mix of line dancing and partner dancing and the live band did awesome covers of songs for both line dancing and two stepping.

Guys, I was too busy dancing to take any photos! I went on a Saturday night. It was crowded but not too crowded. You could still get on the dance floor. The band was on point and super fun. The dance floor is decent sized, not too small but not extra large either. They do line dancing classes I think around 7:00 p.m. p.m. but I got there after and missed them. Getting drinks at the bar was easy. I loved that they had a $7 rail old fashioned drink! Of course you can upgrade to a nicer whiskey but the fact that you can get an old fashioned for only seven bucks in San Diego... Unheard of! And it tasted decent enough that I got 2! Theres plenty of people who know how to dance really well, so I was able to follow along on some of the individual dances and got asked to dance a few of the couples dances and felt super respected in doing so. It was really fun. I wish I could have stayed longer. Its so nice to have a place like this. We used to go to in cahoots in Mission Valley but its been closed for so long now. I almost think renegade is worth a regular drive out to East County for. I think theres a small cover. Something like five bucks, but it was totally worth it for a great live band and a good ol wholesome good time! 👢🎶

Awesome little country bar that has anything from karaoke to live bands depending on the night. The owner is super friendly. The staff was nice as well. If you find yourself around lakeside, definitely check it out off lake Jennings exit.

If you love country music youre gonna love this place!! It has a good size dance floor, live music Fridays and Saturdays, pool tables, outdoor seating with a fire pit and enough seating around it to stay warm on the chilly east county nights. This place attracts crowds of all ages!!

This is a small country western bar. It has a good-sized dance floor for 2 stepping and line dancing. No food served.

The bar tender looked like she was ready to leave. It was okay but pretty empty. Im not from here, and I will not return. There was no cover charge but there was also no life. The bouncer was pretty aggressive. I ignored him, but this is not what a real honky tonk looks like.

Great authentic country western bar. Quite literally one of San Diegos hidden gems. If you are looking for a country bar with all the things you come to expect from a western bar, look no further. FYI they DONT charge a cover charge like that knock off so called country bar incahoots. Its all smiles and good times here. PS.. boots and hats optional ;-)

We always have a blast at Renegades. We go on Saturday nights for the live music. Nothing better than dancing 2 step with my guy! Bartenders do a great job on keeping up with the demand and I can always find a seat.

I had never heard of this place until the other night. If you like country music, then this is the place to be. The band was great and the dancing was fun to watch. I am going to have to learn some moves so I can join in.I think the drinks couldve been better. We ordered a Jamison and ginger, and it tasted like cheap whiskey and very little of it. Then we ordered beers. I wouldve liked a Pacifico, but they didnt carry that brand, so Modelo it was. All good in the end.

Fun lil country dance bar. Nice dance floor. Great band playing. Bouncer was super cool. There are some really great dancers there, fun to watch. Next time Ill come earlier for the lessons if they have any.

This is the best bar that I have been to. Lots of dancing and a variety of characters. The live music is pretty awesome too.

The dance lessons were fun, the teacher was great! It does get crowded so get there early to get a spot. There a was a bad review from Carol L but most people finish their drinks and not leave them on the table while dancing. I noticed her page is all negative reviews of everywhere she goes. I had to share because this is someones business they work hard at and there are tons of regulars who love it here. This is a great place to dance and have a good time with friends!

Lively, clean and fun place! friendly staff and fabulous food. Loved the live band that was booked, Rivertucky.Only downside, is when its packed with a live band appearing, parking can be a challenge, so get there early! Otherwise, had a blast!!!

We enjoyed it here. It was crazy busy, it was Saturday night after all.As we arrived there was line dancing classes in anticipation of the live band.Luckily they opened the back area, as there was no where to sit inside. We loved the menu. Delicious and affordable. My hubby had a great time telling our steaks for us!!We also liked that you could hear the band clearly, and still be able to chat outside.Not enough parking!!!Not enough seating!!!Overall, great, wed go again.

Good crowd ( need bigger building) Great drinks. Food a lil overpriced. Went specifically for line dance lessons. it was my 42nd bday havent done much dancing in over 10 yrs my bf none at all.these lessons were not for newbies. Also Very few line dances and took less time to teach then the song it was meant for.Going to try thurs night for couples swing was told way smaller crowd.

Small bar and dance. Great happy hour and bartenders. Get your country music and dancing on here. There is food available and it is good. Outside patio area to smoke, eat and drink if you dont want to be inside. It is out in the boondocks of Lakeside off interstate 8, but fun.

Not a huge country fan but it was fun. Singer was great. Lots of people for sure. Yes parking is sometimes a little bit of a walk away but no more than 100 yards so not that difficult in my book. Unless youre afraid to walk. Staff and everyone I encountered was friendly. Decent sized dance floor and drinks. What more do you want, lol

Great country bar. Mostly for locals though. Parking is a nightmare most of the time but thats not their fault. It is small and always packed. Like an exclusive night club. The staff always make you feel like family. Best country bar in San Diego. Unless you are into fake country bars that are actually clubs

September 22 in a friday i was drinking a beer and i got kick out for no reason I didn’t do nothing i was enjoying my beer and. Suddenly you have to go because your only drinking! What do you expect me to do its a bar

Smaller than we expected but still a fun night of line dancing. We came early to do the free lessons. Food and drinks were ok.

Bartender was rude. Told us to pace ourselves after being there 4 hours.I thought thats what we were doing having a shot and beer every hour. Is this really a country bar or is it another yuppy California bar posing as a country bar. Overall the band was great, the patrons nice, no food!!!

Really friendly, roadhouse atmosphere with free country dance lessons; with a beautiful new dance floor and some tasty menu items. Were going back to Renegade Country for sure!

We were so thrilled to have discovered this bar in a rural setting with a live band. We made the 20 mile drive with no question. We got to the door and paid the $10 entry to get in.There was literally no place to sit. The bar was so crowded and understaffed it took 15 minutes to get a drink.The band started up and they were fabulous, but line dancers (I thought they went out with the dinosaurs) took up the small dance floor allowing no one who wanted to really dance in. I thought I was at a Jane Fonda Workout.When the line “dancers”, if you can really call them that, finally cleared the floor, we decided to dance, even though the dance pairs appeared to be out of the “ Stepford Wives” not really dancing but following some choreographed step where they made the exact twists turns and gestures synchronized to look like some 18th Century minuet. It was so creepy we thought we’d entered the “Twilight Zone”.Fortunately we were able to score a tiny table to set our drinks on while we danced. So we place our drinks, jackets and phones on the table until we returned. One dance.Upon our return, we discovered that one half full beer bottle was left there, our jackets were messed with and place elsewhere, and a half full glass of draft were gone!!!! An empty bottle was left on the table.We asked the gentleman sitting next to us if he saw the table cleared and our items messed with. He said yes and pointed to the woman who cleared the half full glass and moved our personal items. He then told us “she’s the owner”. The owner??!! She obviously hoped we had drunk enough not to notice that she took the drink and would buy another thinking we had finished it. Cha-ching!!!So we approached her and asked about the removed drink but instead of apologizing, she became indignant and claimed she only removed empty glasses and bottles then turned her back and stormed off. She clearly DID remove a half full glass and left an empty bottle. The man next to us saw it happen to then told us she did that often.Needless to say we left and will never return and we will warn others as well as look into the legalities of of absconding with people’s paid drinks in hopes they will reorder. One of us happens to be an attorney.So just beware when you go to this place.

Great group fun with friends! Steak dinner is amazingly good and affordable, line dancing and live music makes the evening perfect laid back fun! Employees are the best anywhere in the county and no cover!

The best country-western bar in the San Diego area. Low key and cater to a mature, local crowd. Live music Fridays and Saturdays and line/two-step classes on Wednesdays and Saturdays with *the lovely* Patricia. I was hooked after the first time I came.

We are couples country dancers. We were disappointed because there really wasnt enough dance floor for more than 15 couples and they all had to be going the same direction. The music was loud when it started and all the same beat..service was good. Food was good. Probably wont be going back.

Real country bar where line dancing and two step is happening all night! Live music was fantastic and the crowd was great! Lots of laughter and my girl friends and I will definitely be back!

Nice bar, everyone is friendly. Just be aware of the judgy judgersons who will make fun of you and film you if they dont approve of your dancing.

When the right band is there on a Thursday or Sunday its not too crowded to two step or do wear coast swing. Weekends have gotten to crowded for my taste, but there place is VERY popular. Dont miss it!

Really pleasantly surprised at all the remodeling theyve done. It is quite a change from the old, rundown place it used to be. Nice ventilation system, new pool cues, clean inside... Well go back for sure now.

The best western bar in... well whatever. This place is awesome. The people who work there are fantastic, the music is great, and theres no attitude with the guests. Love coming here, love being here.

I went there a few times about10 years ago and I would have given the a -1.They have really fixed the place up! Very clean.Great bouncers made me feel safe!. Just not my type of place.But a nice place for a casual place to country dance.

The remodel is beautiful. They extended the dance floor but unfortunately took away the pool tables so that was a huge let down for the people who have been going there for years to drink and play pool.

This is a great spot for drinks with friends! They have live music on Friday nights, and the drink prices arent astronomical. It has a great atmosphere, and the staff is always friendly and fast.

Great free 2-hour class to learn dance steps, new ownership improvements are country classy, even have a food truck outside all price-friendly. Will definitely be returning!❣️👢

Fun and friendly atmosphere! I went for line dancing lessons--the teachers directions were clear and easy to follow.

The service was adequate and the doorman takes his job very seriously. All in all theres not much to complain about here.

Very 1st visit, under new management, lot of beautiful women ( all types ) line 💃 classes going on HAPPY Hour okay, service 👎. 🎱 tables busy..not regulation!! DJ playing only what boss wanted- no requests!! :(

Really nice airy country bar , I am by no means a country music fan but my boyfriend is somewhat and really enjoyed it there, they have a great selection of beer and wine , live music and dancing for those inclined.

Those who dont know this is a great place when allowed to dance on the big beautiful dance floor and watch live music like THE WHISKEY RIDGE BAND. Quality good time!

Visited here from out of town. We first went to the gaslamp area and I was so bored. We decided to come here and I havent had this much fun in ages. I learned to counter dance. Everyone was so friendly!

The floor was sticky and the James Kelly band wasnt that good otherwise we had fun as we usually do.
