DO NOT use this location. Save yourself the headache and go to the Newport News location. I made several phone calls to this location, left a message, and got nothing. I called back a week later and finally scheduled a couples massage. At 1030 (4 hours before my scheduled appointment) they called me to tell me that my appointment time and location was moved due to the Hampton location being closed. After expressing my concerns, they were able to fit me into my originally scheduled time (after making arrangements to go to the 4:30 appointment, but I still had to go to the Newport News location for services. The location change was not as much of a problem as the time changes and scheduling arrangements. Maybe others will have better luck with them, but I won’t be using this location as long as I am here in the Hampton Roads area.
I have not yet had my appointment but scheduling was excellent due to Kwana taking my call. Not only was she super pleasant, but she was incredibly helpful. There were two different types of massage I was interested in and planned to schedule for both. She explained to me that the same person would be doing both types of massage and I could mix them into one 60 min massage & then got me booked for this fabulous massage this weekend; Sweet!!!Kwana’s customer Service skills are so outstanding that I opted to write a review before I ever actually have my appointment. Ive been a member for years and now I have to cancel my membership due to the constant late shows, last minute cancels and cancellations from a few of the masseuses at this location (home clinic). For example, today I was supposed to get a 90 min hot rock massage from Faith. I show up 10 mins before my 12:30 time and was told that she was going to be a few minutes late. I proceeded to wait and 30 minutes later the front desk staff told me she was at the light. Not sure what light but I waited another 15 minutes before I left the waiting room (now 1:15) and spoke to the staff to cancel. She never showed. This is just one of the numerous times it has happened at this location.
I had a 60 minute massage yesterday with Jennifer and it was amazing! She did a wonderful job at helping me to relax but not fall asleep. I’ll be getting a 90 minute next time for sure!Also, Haley at the front desk was very knowledgeable and helpful and sweet. I was hesitant at first due to some older reviews and of many new ones to go off of, so I’m leaving this to at least let people know about my recent experience with these two ladies.
I paid for an hour massage for my boyfriend . He said the massage was not to great and it seemed like the lady Andy was in a rush. She also ended the massage 15 mins early so it was not even the full hour . I did call the next day just to speak to someone to let them know and I was told by the receptionist I would get a call back from somone . I havent received a call yet. We all get busy thats understanding , however when you have a business and you want to maintain customers, I wouldve at least just appreciated a phone call back . I feel like I was ripped off because she ended it early and it was at 7pm however even yall close at 8 and your in a rush to get off , maybe you shouldnt take on night clients .
I had one of the most amazing massages from Jennifer today. I have been dealing with joint pain for years and after the massage I was able to walk without pain. It has been so long, I had forgotten how that actually felt. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The facility was clean, comfortable and calming.
IF they keep the appointment, you’ll get the worst massage you’ve ever had. They have maybe 2 good therapists. But they cancel 99% of their appointments. Typically last minute so you can’t get in anywhere else. I’ve asked 2 times to be contacted by a manager and nobody ever cares enough to get in contact with me. This is a poorly ran business, with poor customer service, and even worse care if you ever get on the table for the actual massage. Seriously save your time and money and go elsewhere. Destress express is good, go there!Update it’s now been 4 times I’ve been told someone would contact me so I could cancel and nobody has contacted me. Terribly ran business
The experience received today was frustrating. Much of my appointment was used debating front desk staff Haley about her forceful desire to have me sign a prenatal contract as a name chosen to decline to answer as. Signing a contract for a prenatal massage makes sense if pregnant however it is not accurate if currently not expecting. Ms. Haley stated “If you do not sign then your appointment will be canceled and you will pay full price.” Also per Haley “just sign so I can get you back there.”Customer Reply,Uh. NO.Additionally the promotion intended to use with my gift card was expired and was told so only after the massage was complete. Staff was informed the appointment creation date and upon arrival to the appointment that interest was to be paid by gift card. Basically appointment ended overpaid with shorten massage length due to the contract debate. The masseuse was gentle. Music selection was white noise and this customer preferred relaxing tones. Much of the appointment was utilized silently reviewing the disappointing service of front desk instead of relaxing enjoying the massage. There will be no praiseful recommendations for this location.
My experience at the Massage Envy in Hampton, Va was not as exceptional as my previous visits in their other location(Williamsburg Va). While the front desk and waiting area appeared clean, I was disappointed with the state of the massage room. The carpeted floor looked visibly dirty, which was unsettling.As for the staff, Kaitlyn at the front desk was polite but lacked a welcoming demeanor, as I didn’t witness her smile during our interactions. Moving on to the masseuse, I had Marche, who initially seemed kind. However, there was a last-minute switch from the masseuse I had booked, echoing similar experiences mentioned in other reviews.The massage started off well, and I was hoping for the same level of quality as I had experienced before in other location. I communicated my focus on my lower back and shoulders, especially since I had given birth five months ago. Unfortunately, the consistency in pressure throughout the massage was lacking, and Marche’s routine seemed to vary with each side of my body. Towards the end, I noticed that she spent an excessive amount of time on my heels, employing much lighter pressure that felt more like fidgeting than a focused massage.Regrettably, even after spending $140, I left the session feeling tense and dissatisfied. While I acknowledge that others may have had better experiences at this location with different masseuses and timings, I am hesitant to recommend this specific Massage Envy. Instead, I may choose to drive back to the Williamsburg branch, where I’ve consistently received excellent massages from their skilled masseuses.
My therapist recommended a massage after the death of my daughter...I choose massage envy for the quick appointment..I was really tense and had a lot tension in lower back and neck...even pointed it out on tablet they give you before massage...w.o going into detail...I let therapist know of death just in case I started tear up....and she started w.her own problems and talked during whole massage...even thanked me for listening...the actual hell???I was offered a free deep tissue massage after complaining to HR and salon itself...but no thanks..Im good...canceled my payment through bank and put stop payment on credit card since they had it on file...sometimes you get what you pay for...or in this case...what you scheduled for....
I love getting monthly massages. The membership is totally worth it if you have 1 free hour a month to spend on yourself. You get a booklet of free monthly add ons to go with your massages. And if you miss your massage 1 month you can get 2 the next month or bring/gift a friend a massage! The staff is super friendly and they always work with me for what I need, even if I have to go to a different location.
I have finally found my masseuse! I have gone to countless places and have always had a hard time finding someone with the right pressure, technique, aesthetics, etc.!Andrea is seriously amazing! I found a massage therapist that I loved but it started seeming like she had personal or health problems because she canceled on me within 24 hours three times. The last time she was unable to see me, I wasnt even notified until I called the night before my noon massage and was told she was in the hospital (I called because I forgot how long my massage was booked for). I was offered another massage therapist around the same time for that next day. An hour before that massage I was contacted and told the therapist called out. I told the person on the phone that I wanted to end my contract due to all the last minute cancelations then I got an email stating that I was locked into the 12 month contract. Ive just been charged the monthly fee today and am disputing it with my bank. The manager is never around and this is just so unprofessional!
I was gifted a 60 minute session. Person who gifted the session said Massage Envy was a bit unresponsive as they called four times without any reply.I was about 10 mins late to my appointment. They called 5 mins after my scheduled time to see if I was still arriving. When I get there I had to wait another 10 minutes for masseuse to get ready because they werent. My session lasted all of 35 minutes. They shorted me. Friendly but not worth visiting again.
Showed up 15 minutes early, store opened 15 minutes late. My significant other got us a couple massage before I was scheduled to leave for 4 months. Instead of pushing other appointments back they offered to cut ours short and upgrade (still our time was to be cut In half by 30 minutes) we couldnt reschedule due to my job sending me away for 4 months. Finally, we didnt even get an apology, just notified by the staff we would lose 30 minutes of our massage. Staff was friendly, but due to scheduling issues on their part, they didnt foresee things like this and thus the customer loses. I will not recommend this place to others. An apology goes a long way, instead of making the customer feel poorly about their mistake. Simply remarking the situation sucks, is not a good customer service standpoint. We will have to schedule something when I return elsewhere.
Amazing experience. Th front desk personnel were friendly and explained clearly what to the package membership consists of. My massage therapist was very professional, laid back and made my first experience well worth it. I am now a member and looking forward to my next appointment.
So, this evening, I drove 30 minutes from my house through hampton traffic, battled for an on street parking spot, and walked 3 blocks, only to find out that they had cancelled my appointment. They had the wrong number on file AS WELL AS MY CORRECT NUMBER THAT THEY HAD USED THE PREVIOUS MONTHS TO CONFIRM APPOINTMENTS. So, to whichever lazy person couldnt be bothered to put the effort into dialing the primary, correct number on file, instead choosing to just cancel my appointment: thank you. I will be going to a different MT from now on so I can give my money to people who appreciate my VERY loyal business and generous tips. Happy holidays!
I sent my wife there to start her birthday off with a relaxing massage. Unfortunately that didnt happen. She told me that the person giving her the massage talked the entire hour about their personal life. When I booked the appointment, I was asked were there any key areas to focus on during the massage. I gave them 2 or 3 areas and my wife said that the person did not focus on 1 of them. So overall, Im disappointed because my wife was not satisfied. Dont think Ill be sending her there anymore.
I scheduled a 90 minute massage because I had an issue that I needed extra work on today, which I clearly described when booking. When we were done, I was thinking it felt short. Well it was. 50 minutes. They say they only scheduled an hour massage. No one tried to remedy this for me. Just oh well. The massage was very average. Not sure Ill be back. Any local independent massage therapists that anyone can recommend?
The therapist was great but the floor in the massage room was disgusting. White gunk and dried slob located right underneath the table. I wanted to throw up.
The staff was nice, but my mom bought me a 60 minute massage for my birthday and it was only 45 minutes. They take 15 minutes off to ask you questions and let you get changed. My boyfriend got me a 90 minute massage at A day spa massage therapy not far from there and it was an actual 90 minute massage! So, disappointed in them taking 15 minutes and calling it an hour massage..... And the massage lady like shoved her elbow into my sides and I wanted to cry.
Not very pleased at all. The front desk customer service was alright. They were very welcoming whenever my boyfriend and I first walked in, however, as we were seated in the lobby filling out paper work they were talking quite loudly amongst themselves. In fact, the one lady who greeted us at the door walked into the other room and as she was walking away I heard her say let me go do this because they are taking forever. They referring to my boyfriend and I. When we got into the massage room it felt awkward not only because this was our first massage, but also because the massage therapists were not very friendly. It seemed like they were just their to do their job not make you feel relaxed. I must say my massage therapist was attentive to my needs in the beginning, but lacked to give me the full head to toe massage I had paid for. The massage therapist NEVER once touched my feet nor did they touch my boyfriends scalp as we both asked for in the beginning. I was also displeased with how short the hour massage I paid for was. Like the others said above they only massage you for about 40 mins and claim you get the full experience. After the massage was over both my boyfriend and I got dressed and the two massage therapist were there waiting for us with water, which I believe was very sweet of them, but as we walked away to go pay I heard them snickering and talking about us as they cleaned up the massage room. Like I said before, the front desk was okay. As I was paying the lady asked me if I wanted to tip my therapist when she was standing right there. In my opinion I believe that was very unprofessional. Long story short we will NOT be attending Massage Envy EVER AGAIN !!!
The front staff who answers the phone (when they decide to answer) are not friendly and inviting. On more than 1 occasion they have booked my appointment incorrectly.Jennifer though - gives the BEST massages ever!
I enjoy going to this location because John literally finds knots and rubs them out. The attention and technique he has is to me unmatched. Unfortunately the last few times Ive tried to schedule he hasnt been in. Im not sure if hes coming back because they dont know. I just need my monthly massage to rid me of all the stress I carry in my shoulders and to get rid of my tension headaches. Where is John?! Also, Megan at the front desk is super sweet. As are the rest, I just dont remember their names.
I was in the military. Called for months for them to cancel my service. They said i had to come in or fax them the paperwork. Naw, Im calling to cancel. They didnt accept it. So i cut my credit card off from them and now they keep trying ti charge me for a service i dont use.
The front desk was friendly and available for service. I have been coming here for 6 months now. I spend most of my time in the gym training, so getting a recovery massage to address any pain is great! John is the specialist and he has been professional and really knowledgeable about injuries and stress points. I believe he is the best out there, especially since he is always booked! I have been coming to different massage envy locations (Florida and Hawaii) for quite some time, and can honestly say he is the expert at his craft. Thank you massage envy and John!

I feel ripped off. I canceled my wellness program after a year because I found out my friend was paying $40 a month and I was paying $60. Then I called to use my leftover 2 massages that I paid for. I was told that they expired 60 days after cancelation and theres no way of a refund which apparently was sent in an email. I had spoken to someone on the phone when i decided to cancel about canceling and they said I could use my leftover massages whenever I wanted. The cancelation policy for the program is bogus and I lost out on $120+ because of miscommunication and the services there are definitely NOT worth the price.
5 stars to the therapists, 1 star to the front desk staff.I have been a Massage Envy member for over a year now and have been very satisfied with my monthly massages. When I first signed up, it was at the Landstown location in Virginia Beach as it was closest to my home. However, I relocated to Hampton and began using my services at the Hampton location due to proximity. I did attempt to transfer my membership from Landstown to Hampton but was told at the Landstown location that it was not possible as I did not move outside of a 50 mile radius. They also told me it did not matter where I designated as my home location. They essentially made me feel that my visit there was not very worthwhile. This was > 1 year after being a member.However, yesterday (Saturday, February 10, 2018), I had a 60 minute massage at the Hampton location. I had a carry over massage from the month prior and called the location (Hampton) in advance to see if I could transfer this to my husband and book a couples massage for the next month. They researched my account and told me that I could do this, with a $10 transfer fee. That was fine. However, once we both completed our massages, I was told at checkout that I could not, in fact, transfer any carry over to him. I was told that only at the Landstown location could this be possible. This was very frustrating for 2 reasons - 1) I was originally told by the Hampton staff that this was okay when I first booked the appts, and 2) I attempted to switch my membership from Landstown to Hampton and was told I was unable. Furthermore, the Hampton staff told me that I could have cancelled my membership at Landstown and created a new one at Hampton, especially being as I fulfilled my one year contract as a member. This was never advised to me by either location prior to this. In addition regarding this massage, this was the first time I was not given a confirmation call a day or two prior to the appt. That morning, after multiple attempts to get through with reaching the answering service, I called to confirm it was booked for the right date. It was the correct date; however, the time was later than what I was given at the time of booking. As a result, so as not to incur a fee for no showing or cancelling in less than 24 hours, we had to cancel our previously arranged plans to accommodate for the massages at this new inconvenient time. And then to find out at the end that one of the massages was not covered caused more stress than I was feeling prior to the massage. Needless to say, I am very disappointed and feel I was taken advantage of financially by these facilities. I am open to suggestions on ways in which this can be remedied. However, I do feel it’s likely in my best interest to cancel my membership due to inefficient front desk staffing. Sadly, I have thoroughly enjoyed my therapist, but it is not worth accruing additional stress in the long run. I can live without this luxury and monthly bill.
I did not enjoy massage today. It was not professional. The person massaging me used profanity that made me uncomfortable... aside from that she asked me questions literally the entire time. The massage felt very “choppy”... no true uniform to it, it wasn’t an enjoyable experience. I would not recommend going here. I went to relax & that just did not happen!
So before this week I would have given massage envy a four or five star review. I have been a member for about 3 years now. But in one week, I made an appointment and when showing up for the appointment they told me I was mistaken, that it was actually next week. So, sure- I could have been mistaken. Maybe for some reason I wrote down the wrong date as a reminder. Well whatever- its an easy thing to get over. So, my schedule conflicts with this actual appointment date. I have called at random times throughout the day ALL week long and it seems like everyone lost the ability to answer the phone. Where did everyone go? Over one 7 day week, they just wont answer. What if each of those calls I made, over 10 now, were new customers or just anyone trying to schedule an appointment instead of rescheduling??? They seem to not want customers this week. The stupid voice that talks saying that everyone is either preoccupied or on the phone tells me the hours of operation, and no matter how long I sit and wait on the line, the phone ends up hanging up. I have never been so ignored like this before by massage envy. So, whatever- Ill just cancel my membership and go with a place that actually wants my money.
The main reason I truly go to this Massage Envy is because of John and Susy. John does great pressure and focuses on Trigger Points (gets rid of all those bad knots). Susy does great work and technique and can do deep tissue, but not maximum pressure because of a previous surgery. I have been going to this ME for 1 1/2 years and I had tried different people, but these are the only ones that count... Everyone else doesnt focus on the area of concern even though they ASK me and do a full body routine or they say they can deep tissue when reality it is a light massage with no use of techniques to get rid of these troubled muscles. Its sad wasting money on people who say they can do things then dont.The staff up front are friendly, but they are horrible with answering phones somedays and if you leave a voicemail, the call back is a day late. Really? Scheduling an appointment can sometimes be a hassle with them as well.Good luck!
My massage was very light. I left feeling like I had only been rubbed on with oil. The area of concern that I mentioned was not addressed in detail. I left feeling like I needed a massage. Moreover, my wife ordered aromatherapy, but when we got back to the room was told she could not have it as the therapist was alergic. Why assign a therapist that you know would not be able to perform a requested service!
Had a massage with CeeCee and she was great! What made my visit 5 Stars is that she figured out a solution to a chronic pain that Ive had for over 13 years. A pain that Ive had medical doctors, specialist, and physical therapist baffled. Ive been dry needled, shocked, injected with cortisone and massaged by several therapists over the years. She figured it out in 15 minutes and Ive been pain free since. If you go for a massage at this ME, see CeeCee. She knows her stuff. Pretty sure after posting this Ill never see her again because Shell be super busy, but she deserves the accolades! Thank you CeeCee!
Below average. A little awkward at times because the person would pause during the massage for unusual amount of times. And I also did not like that you pay for an hour and they only give you 45 minutes.

To begin with they called me. I was told I could transfer one appointment per month. I have 8 to 10 accured so I transferred one Nov 30th. Called back to transfer one in Dec. Now they they say every 30 days. Sure its in some paperwork somewhere but thats not what I was told and they wontake exceptions for there error.
Very nice and understanding staff. Kat is my favorite massage women she intuitively knows where the knots are and can give one heck of a 30min massage if youre in a hurry.
Massage was enjoyable, but they advertise a 60 minute massage and it was only 46 minutes. I asked about it and they say 5 minutes to change before and 5 minute to change after. So you aren’t getting what you think.
I loved going here. They were great. The massage was amazing, but the price is a little to high. Even if your a member you still have to pay a high price.

Please never waste your time with this place its a joke. Tried reaching this place several times to cancel an appointment was unable to reach anyone an automated message kept saying they were closed during business hours. Once I finally reached someone they said it was to late to cancel without paying the amount of service and I couldnt reschedule for another date. This place customer service sucks they dont even try to resolve issues. This place is a bust. I will be sure to make this known.
Lisa is awesome. I felt sooo relaxed when I left and lasted for days. She hit all the right spots with just the right amount of pressure.Truly amazing!!!
They didn’t answer the phone during business hours last month. The staff plays around to much and take forever to get a task done and they barely have openings. I only gave three stars for the politeness otherwise it’s a tad annoying when your trying to go relax around adults acting like children and not doing their jobs
I would highly recommend the massage therapist Morgan. She did an excellent job and I have never felt so relaxed. The massage was excellent and service was impeccable.

I specified my massage on the website. I asked for a deep knuckles and elbows massage. The massage I got was like washing a scalp but on a back. Very disappointed.
