We went to Bandits Dance Hall on a Wednesday for the line dance lesson and to do a little dancing. The dance floor is wonderful and the bartender was very friendly. There was a fun group of folks there for the for the lesson. It was too crowded so we were easily able to dance after the lesson. The beer was reasonably priced and the atmosphere was great! Kind of a roadhouse/ country bar feel, and right in the downtown area! We come to Houston 3-4 times a year and will put it on our list to visit again when were in town.
Great spot, not really country but country. Expensive drinks, with 20% gratuity included. Bull ride looked fun, people were getting thrown off left and right, as they should have been. Sort of a small place and if you didnt uber, youre paying for valet or getting your car broken into if you parked in surrounding streets.
Really wanted to like this because of the distance but my experience there twice will leave me probably not going back. The crowd seemed more interested in their own conversations than hitting the dance floor, and finding a single to dance with was nearly impossible. Plus, once we made it onto the dance floor, it was so small that you could barely move! To add to the discomfort, the bar space was incredibly tight, making it difficult to order drinks. Overall, while the concept is promising, the execution fell short due to the unfriendly crowd, overcrowded dance floor, and cramped bar space.
Automatic 20% “gratuity” on all drinks. That’s just a markup on the drink cost not a gratuity. Pay the staff an appropriate wage.Edit: Since I dont get to respond to the owners comment below. You absolutely make it mandatory. It appeared on my bill without asking, and when I questioned it I was directed to a sign up behind the bar saying 20% added to all bills. Youre putting it on the customer to pay the staff a fair wage - tipping is optional (and yes customary) and I would have just tipped myself. But forcing it on the the bill as an expectation is just raising the drink price by 20%. Wages are part of doing business. Its not a mandatory customer responsibility to prop staff up because you dont pay them enough directly. (And yes, Ive worked in service a number of times in some roles that received tips, and other roles working just as hard or more for a low wasge but just didnt have the custom in that industry. Its an unfair system. I still wouldnt have felt comfortable forcing it on a customer.)
Looks nice and has great potential but this place is outrageously priced and they automatically tip themselves 20% so for one round of drinks which was just 3 shots and 3 beers my bill was $65. Don’t feel like $10 is a fair tip to hand me drinks 1 time. Anyway, then they charged me twice so I have 1 charge that cleared and the other that has been pending in my bank account for almost a week which will hopefully fall off but just make sure you have plenty of money to be prepared for being double charged. Plus there was only about 6 people in there at 12:30 on a Saturday night so not a very good vibe especially when they are playing back to back tejano music in a country bar. The only good thing about this place was the door guy. He was pretty nice.
My friend who was visiting out of state and I went to this bar in her rental car and when we came out, a homeless man told us that two men broke into her rental car with a flashlight and they had a gun. A second car a few cars down from us was also broken into. The homeless man said that those two men have been breaking into cars every weekend like clockwork and he’s told the owners of the bar and they don’t care. He gave a full description of the men and their car to the police. Don’t go to this bar or your car might get broken into.
The parking situation is ridiculous. The whole lot is valet. I went on a Wednesday at 4:30pm, and they were trying to charge $20. As I was walking back, the valet tried to bargain at $10. I wasnt going to play games with someone like that, so I declined. I parked on the street, but in that part of town, you have to be careful about getting your car broken into. The bar itself is nice, but you might want to call ahead, because they dont always have it in full dancefloor configuration, so you may be disappointed by the lack of space, depending on what day and time you go.
Cute country spot, especially since there is nothing like it inner city. The music was varied not too old, not too new. Some line dances. The drinks are sort of high and not wow. BEWARE gratuity is included. Sucks because we were already tipping adequately, but on top of 20%?? Im generous but damn, and the bartenders wont tell you, except there are small signs posted on the bar shelves. Probably will be the hottest spot come rodeo season, very strategic of the owners 👌happy two-stepping!
Excellent spot for some good drinks and great atmosphere in the big city. We need more of these places. I highly recommend to see yourself. Great prices also with beautiful and kind bartenders.
Bandits, the new country bar in Houston, exceeded all expectations with its incredible offerings. The drinks were crafted to perfection, the food was delicious, and the service was exceptional. From the lively atmosphere to the step dancing, Bandits is a must visit for anyone seeking a memorable night out with fantastic country vibes.
Cool spot to grab a drink and hit the dance floor. Great location! Next to other spots you can bounce around and get a little bit of everything.
We had such an incredible time at Bandits. I’m not that big into dancing but the energy in the place definitely gets you moving and the drinks are generous to really amplify the experience. My buddy got some food and I basically had my second dinner I couldn’t stop eating.
It was a little slow, but LOVED this place! Well definitely be back! Just need to add some sawdust for the dance floor!
If you’re into Country music, or just starting to get into it, this is your spot. The only country bar in the loop right now, central to all things entertainment In Houston!Live music, talented DJs, and excellent drink specials and shotsForgot my boots, but definitely looking forward to 2-stepping again!
A great set up for an inner loop dance hall but very expensive drinks plus auto 20% tip no matter what. Also 20$ to park in the lot, valet or self park sucks
It’s small and expensive but Taylor was very attentive! They mixed up the music just enough. It was fun!
LOVE THIS PLACE!! Fun atmosphere and cool location!
Slowest music youve ever heard, idk why you would go. If you’re expecting county to dance to, DON’TGO. No line dances or any song except what you would fall asleep to
Ask for JOJO (Fridays only I think) at the bar and she will take phenomenal care of you. She is such a sweetheart and we will be back again because of her and the fun time we had.
Good little C&W place in an area where we need one!
Amazing place
