We had a great night here!! Everyone from the valet parking attendants to the servers, the manager, the hookah and the coal service was outstanding!! We were here on a Saturday night and arrived a little before 8 PM the place was just starting to fill up. They have an option of outdoor seating, tables as well as couches. The place is extremely spacious and tables have enough space in between them. We choose the sofa area since it was extremely cozy and very well ventilated. The food was super good!!! But the best was our hookah experience. They have tons of flavors and even specialty hookah heads like pineapple and watermelon. The service is fast and efficient and the prices very reasonable! They even have belly dancers. Definitely returning here.
Never been here before and my sister suggested this place for lunch. The place is pretty huge with plenty of seating, there was no one there at the time of lunch so that was nice. Food came out fast and everything tasted pretty good to me. Only thing is that the inside was a bit too hot for the weather weve been having.
A great place to enjoy authentic Arabic atmosphere and dishes.also if you like to smoke hookah they have a lot of variety in flavors I was not a big fan of their hookah it made me dizzy and thats very rare for me. Food taste is not too sure for but it looks good. The atmosphere is the winner for this place, they have a variety of Arabic style seating and its very big place they also have entertainment on Friday and Saturday night so I highly recommend enjoying that atmosphere in the nice weather months.
It’s the whole package - the loud Arabic /Asian music, belly dancing and energized crowd at times joining in on the dance floor and good food & hookah. No alcohol but nice selection of smoothies especially mint green lemonade and Mawal Special is a great entree. Once the show starts servers would be busy.
This place better shuts down. The bathrooms are nasty by all means. The playground needs to be flagged as out of order for safety reasons. The food takes forever to come and never comes as one order. Good luck going with family and friends because their food might come 1 hour after yours. INSANE. The service is horrible and the music is SUPER LOAD.
The atmosphere was pleasant, visited for the first time. Service and cuisine were both excellent, and for hookah coal is always being changed like the service. Best place for weekend vibes if people like to have hookah. They can add some freshly squeezed juices in the menu, recommended place for weekends.
If you havent been, then you need to go. The restaurant was a former house. From the outside, it looks small, but dont judge a book by its cover. Once you step through the front door, its a complete transformation. Theres a playground in the back for kids to play and tables upon tables. The place is enormous! There are even areas for private dining. The parking is a little messy but its worth the wait. They have a variety of hookah to choose from but I cant tell you about that because I didnt try it. What I can tell you about is the tea and the food. I ordered mint tea and chicken shawarma.
The new renovated super lit Mawal is my favorite place to go. We reserved one of the newest air conditioned tent for a party of 12. Food came out on time, super delicious, server was very friendly and took care of us. Their mint smoothie amd mint tea is my all time favorite. I love how they have turn thid old place into INSTAGRAM worthy place. Outside seating area is now updated and is very beautiful. My daughters love the play area. Its 2 in 1 package for us. I recommend this place and give 5 stars for food quality, quantity, flavor, hospitality.Great job team MAWAL
This was our first time exploring this place. The atmosphere is pretty cool and laid back. I provided 4 stars instead of 5 because most of the seating is outside with covering BUT none of the NUMEROUS heaters they had out, were working...at least thats what we were told when we told the host it was too cold to sit outside. There was a large party inside so understandably, there werent any available tables inside that were offered. There is a room in the back thats cool to chill in with many other guests that are enclosed so that worked out. We didnt order food so I wouldnt be able to rate that. The hookah was NIIIICE! One of our pet peeves is spending money on trash hookah but this place did not disappoint! Spring and Summer are coming so sitting outside og a covered area will be perfect at that time for sure so we shall return! Give it a try!
Nice place, its crowded during the rush hours(8pm -12am),but you will still be able to spot a table or two open. The main deal breakers for some people is the parking and the waiters attitude(only sometimes), hey and I dont blame them, because when it gets busy, they gotta take care of like 10-15 tables. Ill give em 5 stars for the atmosphere(outdoors and indoors) and the hookah selection(i only go there for the fruit heads $25).
Food was ok, hookah was good. Service was horrible. Service was slow, no communication and bad attitude. Ill start: I ordered hookah, hot tea, shawarma plate and rice pudding for dessert. I sat around for 2 hours enjoying myself and the great ladies next to me. Seemed like all of us had issue with service. It was so bad even the server knew he did horrible job so he added 20% gratuity. I am in the same industry. It is against the law to charge gratuity for 1 person and not notify them. I didnt see the shameful act until after the fact because it did not show. After when I asked for itemized receipt the man asked me, why do you need that? (First sign of guilt) I told him I need it please get it to me. After seeing the receipt witch is in this photo, their the tip appeared. I was having conversation with waitress name Lisa told her about it, she couldnt believe and was very apologetic and said let me get my manager. I spoke to manager about it and said, he did that because he knew he gave bad service. However I am not the one to just not tip.. (minimum 20%). Some other guy sitting on his rear end chimes in and says he did it because people do not tip... I told him obviously its not the people its you and your buddies horrible service. I proceeded outside to get my car. Very young kid gets my keys, he jumps in the car and he couldnt even put my car in drive... At this point I was like you gotta be effin kidding me right now. I asked the kid for his license he said he forgot it at home. I said how did you get a license if you dont know how to put a car in drive?? Nothing special 2022 Durango.. I had to pay 10.40 to park my own dang car and also get my own car out the valet. I would like to know whom can I contact to resolve this matter. I would hate to have to take this to legal action..
Overall, the place aesthetically looks terrible. Colors were all over the place and a million different patterns. It gives me nostalgia of any circus I attended as a kid. To make matters worse the areas you sit in a like tents 🎪 sort of the way that a circus really is. Anyways I was seated with my date and we got some juice drinks (the same pineapple juice drink) and some waters and a hookah. When they arrived the juice was more of blended pineapple and was berry pulpish. It had so much pulp it was thick like a smoothie (no exaggeration). She immediately said Eww this is not juice. I agreed in my head. Fast forward to me ordering Chicken Tawook. My sides we salad and hummus with naan of course... the naan 🫓 came out hard as a rock and not fluffy at all. The chicken was cold as the heart of a truck driver and the salad was on the same plate as the hummus and chicken and it was almost like it had just been in water or washed because all the water from the salad was thinning out the hummus and maybe the culprit to my cold chicken. It was bad but so bad that I was like let me not make a scene out of this terrible plate. I left as soon as I finished what I could tolerate eating. Do not order anything here. Bring your own food 🍱
I will never go here again. I waited for 5 minutes before anyone every even acknowledged me to seat me. Furthermore the food was very sub par and the shisha was also far below average. In addition the service in general was atrocious! I waited 10-15 minutes as they retrieved my car from valet while several other people came up and got straight into their cars, then to be asked by the rude valet attendant weather I payed him and if I could help him find my keys which he had given to a valet agent 10-15 min before.Being Arab myself this establishment is far from customary excellence with Arab customer service !!
There was barely anyone there on a Saturday but we still had pretty slow service. The hookah was great, pretty strong. The spicy fries were interesting, I ate them all lol. Don’t think I’d try them again, though
Came here for a late night hookah and dessert. A great atmosphere and vibe ! Not to risqué but not a boring restaurant either. They have food items, but we had the desserts and drink. The rice pudding was delicious and the kunnafeh was really good too. The virgin drink was also really good and was professionally made. The hookah was ok and the only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is our waiter forgot about us after sitting us down. We waited a good half hour to get our order placed and hookah setup. Otherwise a great experience, the food looks good will try it next time !
So Im not even going to ask why this is the case but for some brilliant idea this place charges tea by pot AND per cup to drink out of... Does that make any sense. You buy a large pot of tea and they charge each person for a glass to share it... The hookah is great that why it even got 1 extra star. Please change your archaic practices.
This place is very cozy. We went here for hookah and was not at all disappointed. This place is a hidden gem for sure. Wish we didnt eat before we got there because we wanted to try the food for sure, but we will definitely be back and tell others about it. I want to have my promotion party there soon.
Loved this space and the open availability for seating and hanging out. If you have an experienced anything like this, you definitely should try it. Unfortunately, there was something going on with the kitchen and some of the service staff so we have a bit of difficulty with anyone taking our orders or then telling us that the kitchen was going to close early before we ordered. But after everything, it all worked out and we enjoyed the time to hang out. In this space. Valet service was appreciated and helpful for this parking area. Would recommend to anyone looking for a spot to visit or study or enjoy delicious food!
Loved the mint lemonade. Pina Colada is nice. Food is good also. This place is the most lit hookah lounge on Saturdays as there will be a lot of people that will come. Hookah is good also as they have a variety of flavors and options in hookah. For a hookah Enthusiast the hookah will probably be basic but even in basic hookah it is good. Prepare to valet you car here because there is no parking here
After many great Saturday dinners here its sad to say this place has gone down. Family came out of town to celebrate my brothers birthday. We reserved for a total of 18 people including about 8 kids. First thing was there was no more valet and we were all charged for parking and everyone was charged different rates. The whole restaurant had about 20 guest total not including us. Music was extremely loud and lights blaring at the tables to the point we could not even have a conversation with the person next to us or even open our eyes. So we moved to one of the back rooms which is really uncomfortable to eat with the family.Ordered drinks and food almost immediately with about 30% of the items we requested being not available. It took almost 45 minutes for our drinks to arrive but that was after I went to complain. about 10 - 15 minutes after the drinks arrived the food arrived and it was cold and very bland (not the typical experience i previously had here). After asking why they were so slow in serving us they said they were short staffed. I did not believe because the restaurant was almost empty and the waiter were hanging out in the front. The least they could have done is communicate with us the delay but they continued telling me they are short staffed. At this point the entire family was very annoyed and my poor brother had the worst experience being visiting from out of town and wanted to experience this place after I told him so much good things about my previous experience. Now to the worst part. When I decided to pay the bill, I was told to pay a service charge for using a credit card. Grant it that this was almost a $600 bill and they wanted to charge a credit card service charge. This has never happened before to me at this establishment or any other restaurant. I am not sure if the management or owners have changed but we will never be going there and never recommending anyone to this place. So sad to see this place take a dip from what it was.
Favorite hookah bar! They have a big patio and multiple rooms,The place is huge! Tons of food options (including vegetarian options, dessert and shakes) Hookahs with fruit heads (apple head, pineapple, watermelon and orange) ANDDD my favorite part is the belly dancer and live music! Also the dj here is always on point! Good for groups and it can get loud. No alcohol here but you can now bring your own for a small fee.
LONG REVIEW: Would give a ZERO, If possible. A couple friends & I came to smoke hookah and continue to have a little fun after a comedy show. This place is HORRIBLE with customer service! FIRST PROBLEM, they brought over our hookah with no coals. We waited a about 5mins or more and noticed that everyone around us had coals when their hookah was taken to them. So we had to go FIND someone to get our coals. SECOND PROBLEM, we had to find someone to get us a refill on coals... which took over 30mins (we never received them) BUT THE PPL AROUND US RECEIVED COALS WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS (they knew the owners... the ppl next to us told us they knew the owners after we asked them where they got the alcohol from. The establishment don’t serve liquor AT ALL) so of course they were WELL TAKEN CARE OF.It was like we didn’t exist to the workers. After waiting over 30 mins & finding the manager multiple time for the refill we finally decided to get up and leave. The waitress we had stopped us at the door and asked if we was ready to pay ( SHE NEVER CHECKED ON US AFTER SHE TOOK OUR ORIGINAL HOOKAH ORDER). The “manager” never apologized he just said “y’all are ok” and we left.I don’t plan on ever being back.
Worst new year ever! Starting with the parking. I am disabled veteran with disabled tags and placard. Valet told us that handicap parking was not unavailable unless, I paid him. So, I had to get the manager. Problem solved! All white and black Americans had to sit in one section and could not see the show and experience the full event in which we paid a $40.00 entrance. All party favorites were not in our section. Service was very slow to the American section. The belly dancer totally ignored our section. When could we have pictures as well like the our guest. Request went ignored. Was told, next time sit in the front. Wow really! They pick our section for us.It was new years even, full of paying guest no matter were we were seated, same price for all. Dance learn to work the whole floor not just for her people! Very disappointing night to end 2022 with Cafe Mawal if your are American. We still spent of $250.00 dollars just for my wife and I. The waitress Lisa was very nice and we tipped her very graciously. I thinking of reporting there Valet service to the IRS, all the under the table money that guy was collecting, I am the owner of Cafe Mawal would but a stop to such activities. Right the the face of all the other customers not willing to pay for the extra cash, in which the $40.00 parking was supposed to included. I was told the valet guys were there as a courtesy for paying guest to direct parking and to ensure no paying guest to the event at Cafe Mawal were not parking there. What a shame!
Came with a group of friends for a private party in their private room. Excellent atmosphere, seems pretty popular within the southeast Houston area. Great DJ & hookah to order as well as food if you so choose. Severs were attentive and very kind. This is a great place to book a small private party. Young adult population.
Came here on a Saturday at 1:15 PM and it was completely empty. The hookah was ordered right away but didnt get here till 45 min later. And then we had to wait another 30 min for coals. The manager let us know that the person in charge of hookahs flaked on them. She ended up comping one of the hookahs and brought us tea on the house.
A girl was attacked at this establishment a few days ago by men and women. A bottle was broken over her head and she was sent to the hospital. Security/management are both lacking. Hopefully this establishment won’t be open long since they don’t take the safety of their patrons seriously. Very disappointed in management and ownership in how the situation was handled.
On a Saturday night, it was super understaffed. I ordered only lentil soup despite others in my party ordering hearty dishes. About 30min later, I reminded the waitress I was still waiting on the lentil soup. She and the manager (who was assisting her due to sparse staff) said it will be arriving shortly. When we left, 45min later....I never received the soup. Thankfully we werent charged for it.Also, We asked for an additional outside heater to be brought to our table since it was close to 50deg or below. There were about 4 heaters not being used. The waitress said yes shortly, and even the manager stated give me a second 2 different instances within 30 minutes. After another 20min, I asked the bust boy. And HE was nice enough to say He couldnt because they were out of gas for the heaters. Just curious why the manager couldnt even follow up with us with that information. So sad.
UPDATE: FEBRUARY 10, 2020I met with Saeed Sr., Saweed Jr., and Maysara Alyasin recently regarding the issues at hand. They were very sincere with my concerns and made a concerted effort in resolving the case. It was determined that my claim was not channeled to the right people from inception, and therefore the situation was not attended in a timely fashion.I find everyone Ive met to be very professional and expressed compassion for my case. I am satisfied that my case is now closed and will continue being a happy customer of this establishment. I will rate this restaurant FIVE STARS and will highly recommend my family, friends, and associates to patronize this business. Thank you both Saeed Sr. and Jr., and Maysara for your collaborative assistance. I appreciate it. :-)Sincerely,Richard David
We go here quite often to hang out with family, but latley the service and atmosphere isnt that great. Took 45 min to get a hookah that we ordered and 35 min for food. Waiters are straight face about mistakes they make, and the prices are over average. Plus parking is now $10 when it was $5 not too long ago. There is a better hookah place but its farther and always packed.
This is my spot! Im big in to Sheesha/Hookah and so far been to many States here in USA no other place has yet beaten Cafe Mawal! Lots of different seating arrangements available, private room as well, indoor as well as outdoor. Kids play area along with Belle Dance, Tempura dance and a DJ. This place gets very busy on weekends and is mostly only valet park ($5) during weekdays daytime its complimentary. People cry about the valet parking but its fine, they have been out of Houston I think to NYC or somewhere where parking is a true pain. Their Sheesha is very good as well as their food, servers are pretty up to speed, coal masters wonder around everywhere. Cold days have heaters out in the open, rainy days got umbrellas on the table. My fav Sheesha there is Blueberry coconut with a little bit of Pan on a orange head star buzz hookah and hose! (Little pricier but smooth, ask price before you order!)
I’ve been coming here a long time with friends but as of recent, the quality of the service has gone down entirely. To be fair, there is an owner change happening but my experience tonight was sadly disappointing. We ordered some fruit drinks which consisted of orange juice and some strawberries bits that cost $7 but the price was not on the drink menu - which is separate from the main menu.As for the service, the place was nearly empty and yet they still managed to forget about my table. We had to get up and find the server at least 3 times. They have installed a button system that requests a server when pushed nevertheless the server did not show up. The button was practically useless. We were a table of 4 with a very simple order, a plate of food each and a hookah. When we got the bill, they automatically added a 15% gratitude despite the lack of good service and us having to find the server ourselves. To top it off, they have mandatory valet at night that is $10 when it use to be free parking at the back. Definitely a disappointing experience.Edit: I forgot to mention that they now add a 4% fee on your total bill if you pay with any credit card.
An absolutely disappointing experience. Only leaving 1 star for the entertainment. Came here with the family to celebrate a birthday, and had the worst experience. Upon arriving, we had to pay $10 to self park. Food took over 2 hours to be served, to be fair the waiter did say they had a wait, but we did not expect over 2 hours and thirty minutes to be served from the limited menu. Everyone’s entrees came out at different times and food was ok at minimum. We even ended up taking our cake back home with us because we just couldn’t wait to leave. Definitely will not be back anytime soon.
Came in tonight and faced several issues. Firstly there is a self parking sign in the front. An arrow point to the back. Got followed by valet to be told that self parking is $5. No sign or mention of the $5. The valets attitude deserves negative stars. Still continued to go in hoping that atleast the food and service will make up to the rough start. Over 50% of the menu was unavailable. Would order and 10 minutes later we were told, that they don’t have it. The hookahs were aweful. Asked for three flavors and specially requested light on a flavor and then server denied that light was requested when 4 other people said light was requested and confirmed.Food wise we asked if there Philly cheesesteak can be made of chicken and was told that’s not possible. Someone from my table still ordered it, tell me why the Philly cheesesteak was made out of chicken. When it came to food timings. It took so long. We were a party of nine. Two people didn’t get their food until half the party left.
The gotten worse, we went here on Friday night up until midnight there were less than 20 people in the entire place. Ordered a hookah and it was the worst hookah. Had to call for server and he showed up when the charcoal was entirely turned in to ashes. Waste of time, money and energy.
To say that my recent visit to Café Mawal was a disappointment would be a gross understatement. Dining out should be a pleasant experience, not a challenge to ones patience and tolerance. From inattentive service to a blatant lack of hygiene, my experience at Café Mawal turned out to be a gastronomic nightmare. To begin with, the service was subpar at best. I could easily excuse a simple oversight or momentary neglect due to peak hours, but the blatant disregard for customer satisfaction that I experienced is beyond pardon. The waitstaff was not just unresponsive, but displayed a clear lack of interest and enthusiasm for their job, making the dining experience uncomfortable. The delay between each interaction— from ordering to receiving the food, and from asking for the bill to finally being able to pay— was exasperatingly long. This is certainly not the standard of service I expect when dining out. However, it was the hygienic standards (or lack thereof) that truly astounded me. Imagine the dismay upon discovering a hair in my food, an incident that completely put me off my meal. The lack of hygiene is unacceptable, and such negligence raises serious questions about the cleanliness of the kitchen and food preparation methods. The management handled the situation poorly as well. Rather than demonstrating concern and offering a genuine apology, the response was insipid and uninspiring. There were no tangible measures taken to rectify the situation, which only compounded my overall disappointment.Food is an integral part of the restaurant experience, but ambiance, service, and hygiene play equally important roles. A single lapse in any of these aspects can mar the entire experience for a customer, as was the case with me at Café Mawal.
I have been trying to contact the owners for 4 weeks for reserving a private party. When ever I call they said the owner will call me and never has. It’s been 4 weeks. I have known people who would call the owner to get a table without being in the list and get a place a to sit while everyone waits in line. I have seen that with my own eye couple time over the years with the staff also.Owners need to get their priorities straight.
This place is CLOSED! Made arrangements to come here today to celebrate my Birthday. Their hours show 11 am to 4 am. We arrived at 1:30 to the gates and building closed! We went out for ice cream at Booze, which was as fabulous, then came back and still closed! Went to the WaterWall, returned and still closed. I think they’re done. Even if they do reopen, I will not trust them. Drove 45 minutes!
Bad food, bad service and hidden charges on the bill. SO Many extra, extra extra charges. They had not one, but two extra credit card convenience fees added onto my bill, then a gratuity charge(which was not for the waiter, but for the kitchen), then of course the tip for the waiter, then of course the self-parkcharge for valet(I thought self park means self park-but no, it means another charge). Then the food was cold, not good and it took forever. There are just too many other good honest Arab restaurants in town to waste your time and money at this rip off joint with bad food and poor service called Mawal.
I walked in, sat down and waited for 45 minutes, no one offered to serve , take my order or even acknowledge I was there. After a long wait I eventually asked a waitress for a menu she looked at me , said nothing and then walked away. Who knows maybe they only serve/acknowledge certain races.
Mawal is not the same anymore. I came after about 2 years, it used to be good back then. Came here Friday night, it was mostly empty, figured out why after the food was served a good 45 minutes later. Ordered Arabic shawarmas, and hummus. Chicken Shawarmas and Hummus, the garlic sauce and the red liquid that the mentioned as chilli sauce were all completely bland. No taste whatsoever. The beef shawarma wasn’t too bad.The place was dirty, and it was definitely not worth paying $130 for 2 adults and 3 kids. Definitely not going back ever again.
Its a fun space with good desi music and good hookah! Been 2xs and Ill be back again... their spicy fries are soooo good! But its a cool vibe, its pretty chill.
Came here for the first time and had amazing experience!! Tasty and fresh food for a very reasonable price. The best hookah in Houston, huge flavor selection. Various seating options like patio, tents, and a stage area. Amazing weekend entertainment program with belly dancers, fire show and a DJ.Definitely worth checking out!!
If I could give this place negative stars, I would! Horrible service here! They brought out wrong orders and it took forever for them to bring food. The hookah was absolute trash. It took them an hour to change the hookah because they couldn’t make it right the first time. They didn’t have sauces to go with food and half the food on the menu was not available. I ordered Chicken Tawook which came out burnt. Would not recommend this place to anyone.
Food was late to come out specially for the kids. The playground was muddy and old, the place is full of puddles of water. The tables and patio were old and full of mold. The hookah use to be good in the past but this time, it was horrible and replaced few times. There have been 4% charge for using a credit card that no one mentioned. Ive been asked to extra tip the waiter. I will never go back there again.
I like the place for hanging out with friends. Loved their Carmel cheese cake. Highly recommend. Mint lemonade is not as good as it used to be. One thing I didnt like was 2:30am some drunk and high people came and its wasnt pleasant anymore. But I think they rather be there instead of being on the road driving and risking their lives and of others. But we left little after they arrive. Customer service otherwise is pretty good.
Awful Awful place and costumer service. Couple times I’ve been there and the desert was awful . It’s not busy as before , just because of terrible costumer service and food. Last time we’ve been there at Friday night and only we were there and couple more people , we asked to change the music and the rude blond long hair lady who’s name cinya ignored and when we asked again, she said this is Arabic restaurant and only Arabic music should be playing, I told her there is no one here and your costumers are not only Arabic people and she didn’t want to talk . We asked the other employee that we need to talk to the manager and the same lady came and said she’s the manager for that night 🙄 we asked for supervisor or the owner and she said there is no one that we can talk to and she’s the only person🤥. That was funny that the restaurant doesn’t have an owner or supervisor who can take care of the costumer. Another group of none Arabic people came and saw her arguing and they didn’t like the restaurant and left immediately. Terrible place to hang out .
Have been coming for many years.Saturday night, Eid weekend and at least 4 items were not available on the menu including French Fries for kids... no shawarma on skewer neither. Will not come back. New ownership demolished the old reputation.
Absolutely amazing! The place is beautiful and all staff are super friendly and the food is so delicious. The menus options are an excellent value. The dining experience overall is very pleasant. Its the best hookah lounge in Houston Ive ever been to . I highly recommend this place you will definitely experience it yourself lovely.
👀$150 for a table of 4👀Best experience Ive ever had at a hookah lounge. My best friend just met his future wife for the first time and she cool AF. Beautiful atmosphere, dope mixing from the DJ, server Kennedy chill AF, SMOOTH pineapple hookah, and BYOB!
Had the worst experience ever! I drove all the way down here from the other side of town with my wife only to be told by the valet that since they are short staffed, I had to go find the parking in the back by myself and then come and pay him $10 to park. When I tried to argue whats the $10 for, his response was that its for complimentary valet parking but there wasn’t anything complimentary about it! Sounded more like an extortion! Whats next? They want me to jump in their kitchen and make myself food and pay them on top of that too?
I really wanted to enjoy this place. I just didn’t. The DJ on Thursday and Fridays, and I have been there a few times, is terrible. He thinks random noises make a “remix.” The music is too loud for the crowd size, and song selections are awful. The price of food and drinks, for what you get, is terrible. And the service is fair to poor. I will not spend another Penny in this place. And after the under-aged valet stole the customers car last year and had an awful crash, how can anyone trust their vehicles with these valets?!? I’m done with this place.
Good ambience . Good can be improved upon.dancers are amazing providing a great atmosphere .
My recent encounter at caffe mawal left me utterly appalled and dissatisfied. After being unjustly kicked out for smoking hookah, I approached Dia, a staff member, to request the bill. Shockingly, he informed me that there was no bill and promptly expelled me from the premises. This incident not only exemplified the restaurants unprofessional conduct but also raised concerns about their unsettling practices. Denying a customer a bill is an unacceptable behavior that further tarnishes their reputation.Coupled with my previous negative experiences during my employment there, this incident reinforced the notion that [caffè Mawal ] is an establishment that should be avoided. I wholeheartedly encourage others to refrain from patronizing this restaurant, as their treatment of customers and dubious practices are simply unacceptable.Save yourself the frustration, disappointment, and potential financial complications by seeking out alternative dining options. [caffe Mawal ] has demonstrated a lack of professionalism and integrity, making it an establishment unworthy of your time and money. My experience with [mawal] as an employee was nothing short of a nightmare, and I feel compelled to share my story as a word of caution. The establishment exploited me, made me work for free on numerous occasions, delayed my payments, and wreaked havoc on my personal life. The never-ending drama associated with this restaurant is something I strongly advise others to avoid.During my time at [mawal], I was constantly taken advantage of as an employee. I was expected to perform tasks outside of my job description without compensation, essentially working for free. The managements blatant disregard for fair employment practices left me feeling used and undervalued. To make matters worse, receiving my rightful wages was an ongoing struggle. Payments were consistently delayed, causing financial hardship and stress. This lack of professionalism and respect for employees well-being is a clear indication of the restaurants disreputable nature. Moreover, the drama that surrounded [mawal] seemed never-ending. The toxic work environment and unresolved conflicts permeated every aspect of the establishment. It had a detrimental effect on my mental health and overall quality of life.I implore anyone considering employment at [mawal] to think twice. The mistreatment, late payments, and unending drama are not worth the toll it takes on your well-being. Spare yourself the pain and frustration by seeking employment opportunities elsewhere. In conclusion, my experience with [mawal] as an employee was deeply disheartening. The exploitation, delayed payments, and perpetual drama were detrimental to my life. I urge individuals to steer clear of this establishment, as its managements practices and disregard for employees rights and well-being are a recipe for disaster. Look for a workplace that respects and values its employees, ensuring a healthier and more rewarding experience.
The atmosphere here is fun and chill! You could eat in a lounge-like area with lots of seating. Fun place to come eat with your friends and smoke some hookah. Their drinks are so good and they do not serve alcohol here. They have plenty of vegan options here! I loved the falafel platter and cauliflower.
Food had no taste what so ever, terrible, Like their Tabouli no lemon juice and dry no olive oil, cold kibbeh looked like it was frozen they microwaved it then served , all that on a side and the waiter had no clue . It took him about 46 minutes to bring the rest of our order . Then for dessert we ordered rice pudding again it was horrible, not fresh at all. What a waste of money. This will be our last time ever .
Unbelievably low quality service. Our drinks and appetizers took 45 mins and were delivered partially without quarter plates. After another 20 mins wait they brought wrong item. Ordered tea and falafel that we reminded 3 times but never got delivered. I ordered water that took 2 reminders and 25 mins to deliver, upon enquiring why water takes 25 mins guy bluntly told, we forgot (even with 2 reminders, really?) I am yet to get my main course but frustrated enough to write a rare negative review.
Unbelievable atmosphere! The audience is the life of this place. Relaxed, had some good food and in the end got on the stage to dance as I couldnt resist anymore. ♥️ Thanks to all the waitresses there who are young and energetic. Will come back soon. Saturday after 8:30pm is the best time to be there.
Something was probably messed up in the kitchen the day I visited. I was served wings from the refrigerator. Then one was served while the entire family kept on waiting for their orders which were served at least 20 minutes after one serving of 5. The lights are too dim to read the menu. The music is way too loud like a concert is going on and you cannot hear each other.Pina colada was really good. The food is decent.
Wonderful place, not packed. The manager is so attentive he is always checking on people. Food is pretty awesome & they have dessert. For a place that does not serve alcohol they make an amazing virgin pina colata. They come around changing your coals, play great music, & there are belly dancers with swords & fire. Like geeez so worth the 5$ parking.
Good place for hookahs. Open air/outdoor setup helps with ventilation of all the smoke. People take their kids, but Im not sure how good the smoke is for kids. There is a small kids play area. Food tasted pretty good. Service is good too. Our sever Jose, 17 years old, did a fantastic job. Only valet parking is available, they charge $5 during pick up. This is my first time here, and I noticed that the owner walks around and makes sure his special customers are happy. Overall, it was good.
When I first got off my car I was like what is this ?But once I walked through the back door I was shocked to see the unique and well lit huge space with many different seating and different style rooms.First time experiencing the food it was real good and hookah was perfect I’m definitely going back.
The hookah here is some of the best in town! This is definitely a family friendly place. It is not uncommon to see families at this establishment at 2:00AM. It is a great place to see some entertainment with belly dancers. Or catching up with friends while drinking coffee. Oh their coffee! It’s to die for! Seriously, this place is worth a visit. You won’t be disappointed.
Ive been to this place several times and never had any issues. They pick and choose who gets valet service now? To me and one other car they said valet was full at 8pm then they let the 3rd car behind me go in to valet parking. Felt so disrespected. The story was repeated by many patron inside. So we parked next door (not affiliated with CM) on a muddy dirt lot, 10ft pot holes and charged us $20 to park in the back. So valet people paid $5 and dirt lot people paid $20. Seems fair right? If it wasnt a event we were attending for a friend I would have left on the spot. Inside the service wasnt much better. Next time someone mentions Cafe Mawal Im probably going to decline the invite.
Very beautiful place. When you drive up you dont really expect the place to be as large and pretty as it is. My friends said the hookah was good, my food was decent as well. The waitress was kind, but a bit slow. Also, no cups of water, only bottle, so there is a charge. Other than that, wonderful experience, would go back again for sure.
Can’t believe I still wrote a review for this place. One of the best hooka bar in houston.Service is always great, attentive and knowledgeable, food was always amazing, everything on the menu taste good, price is super decent for what you get. Large quantity great price and tasty. Veggies Are fresh and meats are flavorful, butter rice is so tasty. Now Lots of hooka selections, water melon, pineapples and other fruits. the most Amazing thing is the ice pipe. Makes your hooka flavor even more intense. Price is great too.Lots of area to hang out. If you want to enjoy the breeze then go outside patio with water fountain, the traditional room with pillows makes it a lazy fun night and if you want to up close to watch the free belly dancing show during the weekend then sit by the stage, you can watch anywhere tho because the dancer would dancing around, they are so beautiful to watch, fun and skillful. Great customs and pops. They have face painting for kids, play ground like your own baby sitter while you enjoy your food and show. It’s crowded during the weekends but you don’t feel too noisy but so fun.Great place to hangout with family, friends and coworkers. Great environment, great food, great everything. Just need to be patient with the valet.Highly recommended! Would always go for some r relaxing nights. And their soft drink and juice and smoothies are so good too.
Worst service ever. Went for my sister in-laws birthday party, scenery was nice and food was not too bad. Service was horrible, had a waitress named FouFou she came to the table every 30 to 45 min, reminded her about are drinks about 4 to 5 times finally got tired of waiting and went to the gas station to buy drinks. Another waitress had to come and assist her, as they were removing things from the table I got a drink spilled on me and was told it would be taking off the tab. When receiving the checks I noticed a couple of things were off. No big deal so I kindly ask FouFou if she could take a look at the bill and also that the other waitress had spilled a drink on me and she would remove it due to the incident that had occurred. She rudely took the bill and said she didn’t care that the other waitress was a nobody but that if that’s all I was complaining about she would take it off. She proceeded to argue with other about their bills and things she was charging for. By far the worst experience in a restaurant in my life. Would never recommend someone to waist their time and money in this place. Many more options around the area. With better food and by far much better service.
This is a good place to hang out. But their hookah was too strong. The only the other hand, was just like any other Mediterranean grill. I did not see anything new or special. Prices are acceptable and the seating atmosphere is also good. They have sofas, open space and closed space as well. On weekends there is often a belly dance performances. This place is good for adult gathering. But not for kids underage. Some customers under the influence of hookah were trash talking and not realizing any public place ethics. The servers are also fine.
First, self parking will cost you ($5 minimim!! ) first time ever i see in my life a self parking that you need to pay for?! It is just a sign to make you go inside with your car and they they ask for money to get your car. ...food delayed for more than an hour, the tea pot they brought has the wrong cover and it spilled on my friend legs. We left disappointed and will not go back.
Ive been here many many times. One of my favorite spots to chill. The ambience and atmosphere is great. Nice seating outside, under some trees and a tent area. Theres a DJ on the weekends, and valet is $5 from Thurs-Sunday (Complimentary Mon-Wed). The hookah here is great as well, tons of options to choose from, even different base options! The place gets really busy, so service slows down a bit, but its expected when the entire place is packed. Eating options are plenty, and the food is good. Its not GREAT but its still tasty. Assortment of drinks, teas, desserts. You have it all. Overall, I think the place is one of the best in Houston.
Terrific place for hookah, appetizers, and mint tea! They have a great assortment of hookah flavors amongst which are pan which is my favorite.Ample amount of seating area with seating outside as well as indoor lounge style seating section.Service can be a bit slow at times but that is to be expected during busy nights on the weekends.
My girl friend and I enjoyed great atmosphere on a Saturday night. However, it wasnt the food or the environment that made the night wonderful. Although both the food and environment were great, I complained a little to the server about the taste of one of our dishes. It was just to point out the experience so that the restaurant could do better. The server apologized. I few minutes later, our server came back and apologized again and brought a complimentary pot of tea. We really appreciated the extra step and will continue to come back for all the right reasons. If you havent tried this restaurant, please do!
The food itself was really good, the hookah was very enjoyable and the atmosphere was great. But the valet people were sort of an issue, our car came out very dirty with mud streaks along the side. And the gentlemen in charge of having us pick up the car, accused us of cutting in line and made us wait while also making a big deal over it not being his problem. Great food and atmosphere, terrible valet service
Love taking my kids here to play while I can enjoy a great dinner in a good atmosphere. It can crowded in the afternoon with kids on the playground but kids want to have fun. Great place with great food for friends and family to come together. The service is usually great. The female waitresses are usually more friendly and take care of the customers and tables compared to the men.
I love this place, nice mix with nature! Food need to be improved! Chicken shawarma had onion on it! That tasted bad. I did see the shawarma chef is Mexican. Please review your foods and don’t mix with other cuisines!
It is a place where everyone want to spend time on a weekend evening. They have a great hookah, belly dance, fire dance performance and some other performances which are really good. I love to be there on every weekend day. Huge crowd and lot of premium cars in the parking lot and it is not so expensive for the service. It took lot of time to get a service since this place was full house. I would recommend this place if you are looking for good hookah.
There was a time I gave this place 4-5 stars, now I would give it 0 if I was able to. Last 30 days I went to this place 2 time. First time took over 1hr. To get my food. Went yesterday, it was over 2 hr. Before I got my food. Before soon as I walked in someone follow you to the table, now I have to sit myself then go look for someone to come help me, because if you don’t you will be sitting for hours. Food qualities went really bad, our food was burnt, the burger meet looks worse than McDonald’s. I will not be visiting anytime soon. Oh also to make it even worse, you have to park your own car and still give them $10, I didn’t mind paying that when they parked it for me. Why am I parking my own car and it still paying the money for that.
Food is delicious but service is SO SO slow. I love the outdoor seating options that make it feel like you’re in the mother land. Also nice that they have an outdoor play set for kids so they at least have something to do while waiting ages for the food.
This restaurant charges 15% gratituty automatically into your order. It was just two of us and the waitstaff was average. We only ordered a salad, smoothie and a slice of cake that wasnt fresh!! I understand if its a large group of people but it was just two of us. It ended up working out okay because I always leave a 20% tip but the fact that they would assume I wouldnt leave a tip is what makes me mad. Also their furniture is old and out dated. Dont sit on those nasty couches.
Was not happy with this visit at all!. We used to wait for a long time to find a table, music would be loud and valet would take forever to get our cars but not this visit. We walked in, nobody greeted us, valet was not there but the sign was. So we parked and walked in. 6 minutes before someone appeared. She said yeah sit wherever. We picked a table close to the playground so we can watch our kids. Table was dirty. I am talking sticky and dusty with watermarks on it. We stood and waited for the waitress to come. She placed the menus on the dirty table and walked away. We called her to ask her to wipe the table, she rolled her eyes and sent someone to do it. He smeared it and made it worse. I grabbed my own wipes and cleaned the table for us to be able to sit and touch things. We looked at the menu and waited for the waitress to come take our order. In about 15 minutes or so we got our water and hookah, 30 minutes later the food arrived cold and dry, salad was soggy and bread was hard.1 waitress serving the whole restaurant is bad. I mean the place is huge and it only had 3 occupied tables! The 4th table left due to lack of service. The hookah guy took forever with the charcoal! Overall it is sad how this place tanked its service
Good ambiance and great food!As far as the hookah goes, they do a much better job of preparing them than most other places. They dont over-pack the bowls so it doesnt burn out as fast or get too harsh. Coals are replaced frequently.Highly recommended!
Sad to see its downfall. This is not the same place used to be before the pandemic. It lost its vibe big time. Tonight’s visit was the last time visiting this place. All of kabab, chicken shawarma, beef shawarma, and even the kids chicken nuggets were salty. The server was nice but the service in general was slow and the place was barely half full, on a Friday night! The kids playground did not use to have an inch empty, now it’s deserted. The only two good things about this place are the appetizers and their floor plan.
Terrible staff and ownership. They bought land in a neighboorhood and bank on the fact that local authorities are too busy to enforce any regulations on them. I would hate to be in the actual building just by hearing how horrendously loud they are from across the street. I can’t imagine anyone having a good time with how rude they are on the house and how loud they are. Seems like a headache and a pain in the a$$
My friends went here to watch the belly dancer one evening for fun. The initial experience seemed to start out well. The food was excellent, well seasoned and reasonably priced. From everywhere you can see the stage and performance. I rated this low because it is not well suited for a casual meet and greet place; the tea no matter what type is overpriced and you might as well have ordered water. They dont sell anything but water bottles regardless of the beverage you purchase. Coffee was terrible as well with no strength. The DJ sounded like he was on drugs and I dont know how they let him up their nearly tipping over. This isnt at all what I expected an upscale Arabian restaurant to be. We had no waiter service until we ordered food and then over a 4hr period came 2x to check on us and never introduced herself, we tried waving over other servers but all ignored us and looking around seems that happened to several other tables near us that were being served by other waiters. The hookah had several options compared to other places and were in line with other hookah prices. I dont partake and yet I think thats the only reason someone would vote this a 5 if they ordered nothing else.
The best place ever for any occasion! Food is wonderful , management & staff are amazing. Always a great time here. DJs & Belly dancers always killing it🔥🔥🔥🔥Recommend 110%
Place is Spectacle. Saturday nights are madness, but also toddlers playing in the playground at 1am. Its a trip. So much going on at once. Valet is nice but the queue can build up. Sometimes parking down the street is open but lots of parking lot parties at the same time.Hookah is pretty good. Lemonade drink is great, very refreshing. Nice cloth wall sofa areas outdoors. Thats what sets it apart
My first bad experience started with my friends and I (three of us) going to Mawal ready to eat and smoke hookah for a laid back night. The waitress came once, gave us the food, drinks, and hookah, and never showed again. I hated my food and so did my friends. We didnt touch it after the first bite and I wanted to tell someone that since I didnt like it, I didnt want to pay for it, but the waitress denied taking it off the bill, and charged a $15 gratuity fee even though she put in NO EFFORT with us. The bill came out to be $75 for 3 of us and we were baffled. My second bad experience and last time going: The new management ruined my whole experience at my favorite hookah lounge. Ive been going here for years and recently my friends and I booked the private room for a birthday party and told them we would have 10-15 people show up. There was 9 of us and they said it would be $15 per head. We all shared a hookah and I bought a cake from the grocery store and brought it there for my friend to cut with all of us. They charged me a $20 cake service fee which was basically the amount I paid for one of their waitresses (with a very bad attitude issue) to bring me a knife and 4 plates and forks. I tried to talk to the manager, but I waited 20 minutes and he never came out and spoke to me. On top of all of that, the waitress still had the audacity to tell me we didnt buy enough items and/or pay enough to rent the room. My loyalty to this place gave me no reward and I will never be coming back 0/10 DO NOT recommend.
Beautiful atmosphere! I highly suggest sitting outside in one of the comfortable tent rooms. The food and tea was delicious and the wait staff was so chill and kind. Do yourself a favor and order a hookah, you wont regret it!
This is a nice place to hangout if you like hookah. They are pretty crowded on weekends and also have some belly dance performance. So if you are going in weekends, be aware of that.In weekdays you should be good, we liked the pan hookah along with that mint sharbat
The food, the service and the atmosphere are all stellar. Plus, who doesnt love hookah. I love the VIP area and regularly request Shelby as my server, shes always on point! Great for date night, hanging out with buddies or a business lunch. One of my favorite places in town.
I have been here a few times and continue to come back. The food and hookah are excellent! There are tons of different flavors and types of hookah to choose from. There is a large outdoor patio and limited seating inside. Gave a 4 star rating because parking is limited (VIP only) and the music is so loud it is difficult to talk to the people at your own table.
Good food, good ambience! Feels like Middle East! Very good hookah! Servers are nice and attentive. Definitely coming back!
It had a great atmosphere and its very spacious inside. The attendants pay attention and stay ready to meet your needs. The hookahs are available and fresh food. Thus place is perfect anything from dates to private parties.
Shisha “hookah” is bad. The menu pricing and charge is not professional, as what you see in the menu is not as what you going to pay. I sow this comment online once but I end up going there. I don’t recommend the place to visit. However the workers are very nice guys.
The worst experience I’ve had in a restaurant. Verryyy slow service you gotta wait for 45 minutes for food just to get half of it, utensils were dirty. Took the waitress 30 minutes just to bring us the check. Save ur time and money.
New year eve yesterday Dj and shows were great, service wise was terrible... we called two days before the party to make a reservation, they said party of 6 and up can reserve only... went a gathered 8 people in total.. called to reserve the manager (girl) was very rude, refused to take the reservation after a long conversation she finally did. We got there with all are family’s and kids and there were no table reserved, same manager seated us in tent with a lot of guys which was very uncomfortable. One of the girls was leaving we had to walk her outside, when we tried to re-enter , the girl handing the tickets asked me to pay $10 again screamed at me and called me bad words.. never again, Mawal was the place I hangout with my college friends and birthdays, last year till now management been very bad.. also employees were treated very poorly specially the charcoal guys.. very unprofessional. Not worth the money we spent.
First and foremost, I absolutely admire the attention to details and the atmosphere of the facility! The service is amazing!!!!! The food is great, the hookah is 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 is a 10 !!! The variety is great. DB, the owner is outstanding!!!!! He personally comes to every table to make sure the service the exceptional!!!!! This is my fav spot in Houston!
Really loved the atmosphere. Luckily I didnt get stuck paying $5 for some dude to park my car in the lot right next to the door. Mandatory valet is always a deal-breaker for me. I enjoyed the food but it could be improved as could the service. All in all, I will be back for the atmosphere but Ill make sure not to order anything too expensive and Ill either uber or make sure its in the morning when I can park my own car.
DJ was phenomenal! Played all types of international music. They had a great belly dancing show. Reminded me of the Renaissance Festival gypsy dancers. Variety of food all delicious. I personally enjoy the beef kofta, hummus, pita bread, and cucumber salad. They also have several types of hookahs with different fruits on top that you can smoke out of. They give you your own personal disposable mouth tip adapter top enjoy. The guys come around to place coal cubes and keep your hookah fresh. They serve all types of teas. Arabic coffee, Turkish coffee, and regular coffee are also part of the desert menu. Its family friendly. Even have a kids playground out back. Highly recommend this place.
This is one of my favorite hookah places in the city. Great, friendly staff, huge range of flavored hookah, and a very relaxed atmosphere. Theres a diverse crowd there too. Managers are friendly to new customers, and even more accommodating to regulars. Its awesome.
Good coffee, good hookah, no complaints personally. Reasonable priced. 1 hookah and 3 coffees was $23. However, my friend who I was with told me that someone there stole his credit card number and charged $2000. Contacted the owner and the owner did nothing and didnt even respond. Yes, it can happen anywhere but pay in cash just in case since it has happened there before.
I went there with my family the night before to eat. Unfortunately, the food was very bad. I think their ears had been cooked for three days. The price was also high. I prefer not to go there anymore. Also, all the cafes had free parking, but Mawal took only $ 15 from me for parking, why ??
The staff is the most rudest I’ve dealt with in Houston so far . Very ghetto unprofessional with a nasty attitude. The servers were all sitting at a table smoking hookah very obnoxiously loud and disrespectful. The manager which I thought would make it better was rude and avoiding while we were talking . Four other tables were waiting for service . It’s sad to see such a nice place managed by such horrible staff .
This was a horrible experience, I called to check if they had belly-dancers and they said yes and I also asked when we got there again “yes they will be here at 10:30” so we sat down and waited till 10:30 we asked the host what time the belly-dancer would get here and he immediately said “no we don’t have any shows tonight”I was mad cause they lied to us they didn’t even have any Dj or TV to watch as we were waiting. Over all I wouldn’t go there again but the food was good and the only good thing about the experience was our waiter he kept apologising about the host. I definitely wouldn’t go again I spent lots of money on nothing.
ToGo order review.I called and ordered for pick up on a Saturday night, so I’m more forgiving than I normally would be with the food I received. Sam answered the phone and took my order. He was patient and very nice even though I could hear they were busy. He’s kind of employee you’d want representing your restaurant! Parking was a bit of a mess and since I’ve always had my food delivered, I was shocked when I pulled up. The valet was super nice and let me park near the door since I had my pups, so thank you!! Then I get home with my food...eh. Cauliflower was spicier than normal (not in a good way), they forgot my pickles for the falafel platter (big disappointment!), and the meal was overall just eh. Not their best and certainly not worth $40. The place looks awesome, so I might go back, but just for drinks. Unfortunately I’m probably done ordering food though.
Crazy authentic and truly interesting. If you like hooka this is a must. The staff is awesome and super helpful. Major props to the manager who was so accommodating and the server who had great suggestions. The food was meh. And there is no alcohol (traditional Muslim customs). But an awesome atmosphere with some great live performance.
Great atmosphere to hang out with friends! Hookah is always good as well as the food. There are other hookah spots but none have the nice ambiance and layout of Cafe Mawal. The owner and managers are always there making sure patrons are comfortable and enjoying themselves. Its always a fun time at Mawal!
I always go there with my friends. Their service used to be slow. But i think they had management change and it is great now! Really fast! Food is delicious! I celebrated my birthday there and they were great. Especially Jason, he came up to us couple of times asked if everything was ok. Great customer service. Thank you so much Jason! If you are the new manager then you are the best manager ever! I also love the atmosphere and outside seating.
I heard good stuff about this place but unfortunately from our experience was the opposite..Food Taste is very poor ( some food got served with plastic inside) 🙃 … Another item was just bad taste …Drinks were frozen Shakes ( It supposed to be juice )Hookah burned from the second inhale ( Wrong preparation)Playground for the kids was very dangerous and injury hazard ( In my opinion should be torn down ) Thats a law suite …
Atmosphere was amazing! Loved the indoor/outdoor settings. The only problem I had was with our waiter. Probably the worst service out of any restaurant Ive been too. Im not sure if she was new or something but I noticed that the tip was included in the check. Just because youll get a tip regardless does not mean you ignore your customers and provide absent service. Anyways hookah was really good, food was really amazing but just the service with that particular waiter. Hopefully next time I go I get someone better, that was really a let down.
I’ve come here too many times to count with my family and it’s a great atmosphere. Decent food, good hookah, great customer service, and great fruit drinks. I’ve never had an issue with the valet service although many people complain. We’ve had graduation parties (on a night that isn’t so busy) and multiple large family hangouts here! They play lots of Arab music and occaisionally some bollywood songs. Their prices are average.
Service is good, food is good, hookah seems to burn way faster than it should, and it always takes for ever to get charcoal. The only thing that I don’t like in this place is: the music is too loud! Even for a place that have belly dancing, it is just too loud!If you ever heard of the term noise pollution and wondered what does it mean, you can come and find out.
Came for Christmas dinner, ordered to go. The food was horrible, chicken was not fully cooked and it was burnt. I would recommend Prospect Park across the street. Ended up eating there and it was way better. The customer service was also really bad.
The BEST Hookah cafe Ive been to.. relaxed, chilled out place with good people and crowd around. Live music.. and on weekends if you get lucky enough after 9 or 10 pm, theres will be belly dancing show too. Food is great as well.. pick any on the menu!!
Hookah was the only thing good about the experience. The food is barely acceptable. The service is very slow and the biggest downfall was the valet parking. They are extremely rude.
It is family friendly. Everyone is doing their own thing. Its a good place to sit and smoke some Hookah. They have a lot of variety! Plus they have belly dancers in certain days(:
Absolutely loved this place. Food was AWESOME! Hookah was even better. The atmosphere is euphoric. With a group, on a date , for a meeting, even a celebration. This is a HUGE venue and staff was exceptional. Can’t find a bad thing to say. I’ll be back shortly ... maybe today!
The hookah options are great.. the atmosphere is great.. the live music is fun. The service? Hit or miss. Weve gotten the same man twice and he has neglected our table both times. Maybe its because we look young.
This place is good to spend some time with friends. Very spacious and a lot of indoor outdoor seating. I like their hookah and their mint tea. Food quality could improve though. Weekends get very busy and parking is a hassle if you don’t wanna pay for wallet parking. I personally suggest to use their parking though.
To be fair this is only Hookah lounge Ive been too, but I have had Mediterranean and middle eastern food. The food was delicious!!! They have some amazing fish! Real nice atmosphere, playground in back for kids, belly dancer to entertain during meal, and nice lounge areas to just relax and enjoy hookah
It is a cool place since it is mostly outdoor and they have a middleeastern DJ with belly dancing. They even have a playground for the kids. We have mostly tried their kabobs, and they were all good. The only problem is that it gets hot during summer. They have some covered parts too but it is still hot.
The food is really good! I was there a few years back with my boss and coworkers for a Christmas party and i been trying to find the name ever since, they have live music and its a place that kids are welcome, which is a plus for me and my little ones. So i give it an 9.5 just because they do take a little bit to bring your food and your hookah.
Really good place to chill and have some hookah with friends. Was there during the weekend. Was kinda crowded but service was good. Had to wait a bit on the food but besides the wait time wasn’t too bad. Place was somewhat clean but I’d expect it to be a little more clean especially during covid
Unfortunately after being a regular here for a couple of years with a perfect record, we went again after about a year and a half and man has this place gone down...The play area is completely run down. Damaged play equipment, the mulch that was on the floor is missing in many parts exposing the asphalt underneath it.The food quality has completely diminished. Being very particular about food, here is my honest feedback. The taste is nothing like it used to be. It has changed drastically and for the worst. The shawarma wrap and salad have barely any flavor. The meat in the shawarma is about half of what it used to be and there is almost no taste. The prices have sky rocketed. 4 people having an average meal there with 1 hookah came to almost $200. This is absurd. Same quantity meal with a hookah at places like La Pasha are about $120 with tip.I feel bad saying this but I will most likely not be returning there.
We love this place it has amazing food and service. We give 5 starts for it. We were regulars here until this incident.I am writing this review in regarding valet parking experience we had 3 weeks back .After giving our car for valet parking and when we got it back it our right-side view mirror and body was damaged. Parking company manager MOE promised he will order parts and get it fixed.Initially he responded to our calls and messages from last 2 weeks he stopped responding to our messages and calls regarding parts or repair. We have to shell out 500$ from our pocket now to fix the car now.. ☹️.
I had a great 😊 time eating delicious food at your restaurant. The waiters and waitresses were committed to a great service and where very friendly. The atmosphere was awesome 🤩Differently will come back again✔️Great for family/friends 🙏Thank you for the wonderful service 🤝
Such an awesome place! The manager is so fantastic and has treated us so well each and every time we go! This is our favorite date night place. Amazing atmosphere, food, dessert, and hookah. We even got engaged here.
The place is so welcoming. It’s manager MAJ even a great and true doer. Last week when I visited there were mosquitos. On my pointing out, he not only sprayed area with mosquito repellent but brought me cologne to apply. Beauty is, he did all of it within 10 minutes.
This place use to be the best. Now they nickel and dimed befor you even walk inside, charge $5 to park whether you valet or not. Food is still great but hookah not so great. Flavor of the hookah burned out rather quickly and it felt like I was smoking tobacco. Dont know way places dont stay true and consistent. But Im not paying $5 just to walk in the door.. like a club cover charge. 2 stars for good food.
Definitely favorite spot for a hookah! Great selection of flavors, fruit head options and different cool ad-on options 👍🏻Great entertainment program! On weekends they have belly dancers that perform fire shows 🔥🔥🔥😱🤩and a DJ. Sometimes they host different Arabic singers and private events.A very spacious cafe. You will find yourself comfortable either at a table on one of the two big patios, by the stage with a great view on belly dancers, or in one of the 3 tents. The tents are a different story!! Comfortable couch seating with colorful and very authentic interior! Cool vibes! One of them has doors and AC.They have this huge screen by the stage where they show sport games and events with a high quality picture and sound 👌🏻 there’s at least 7 tvs around the restaurant as well.Love their fresh fruit smoothies and the KUNAFA ❤️ KUNAFA is definitely is a must try! They make it in house and it’s OUTSTANDING!They make really good coffee and tea in various flavors, and mouthwatering deserts 🤤Would recommend to try their sambusa, cauliflower, spicy potatoes, mawal bowl, pastas, shawarma… try everything 🤣👌🏻
(Oct. 2018 Review)Ive come here multiple times in the past and had a great experience but this past Saturday was terrible.Cons:Cafe Mawal only offers valet parking. When we got here, we wanted to park the car ourselves. The valet manager was very rude when we asked. Not only was he absolutely rude, he charged us MORE to park ourselves, when the parking sign clearly says $5.I understand service can be slow on Saturdays when its busy, but when your server just stands around and not pays any attention to you then it is unacceptable. Also when I presented a 10% off coupon on my phone, the server said that she could only give me the discount if she showed it to the manager. So she had to take my phone somewhere in the back for at least 5 minutes. The server should have the authority to give me that discount without taking my phone in the back to the manager. Unacceptable.Pros:The hookah is indeed great. Smooth and flavorful. The patio is clean and well maintained. The food is decent. I had the chicken shawarma which was pretty filling and flavorful.(Sept 2017 Review)Nice place to chill and get hookah at. Outside patio with AC and fans. There are also tvs outside. In the winter time, they offer heating outsideValet parking.
Been wanting to try this place for awhile now and it did not disappoint. We sat outside in the patio area which was nicely decorated. Our waiter was friendly and quick, I ordered their pasta with chicken and it was very tasty. Great place to hangout with a group of friends or even a date. Will definitely be back.
Bad service, bad food, bad environment. We visited mawal yesterday evening. It was very chilly weather. We asked many times to turn on the heaters (the portable heaters with propane gas). Only after 20 minutes the heaters started to work...The quality of food is very bad. Chicken kabob was terrible. It was very noisy music. The bottom line: It is not a good place for relaxing and eating a good food.
The food is pretty good here and different. The fact that it’s also a hookah lounge is pretty cool too. It was definitely worth the drive even if it was a bit far but totally worth it!! I went at night and let me tell you, it is so pretty so if you plan on going go at night!
We went during a belly dancing routine which was cool from what we could see. Unfortunately, aim to be there early, as the stage isnt raised enough for proper viewing from all areas. Hookah is excellent and has a good selection of add-ons. I got ice in the hose which Id never tried before, smooth as hell. Food was great and perfectly priced. The patio outside is picturesque. Great service all around.
I would like to first off say that the food and hookah was great! I cant stress enough how good they were. That being the case the service was terrible! The hostess was rude about sitting us. We asked to sit in the couch area and when my friend tried to speak she just gave him the hold on finger. It was a little busy and she sat us somewhere else. I didnt mind that but she wasnt very kind about that. The waiter was probably the worst. It was hot and I only was able to get two waters. Not because I only asked for two but because he never came to check on us. I had to get his attention In order to get more drink. I myself am a waiter so I usually give the benefit of the doubt on servers. However even when he was near by he never looked at us or anything to try and attempt to draw attention so that I could ask for more water or anything. On top of that like I said it was hot and we wanted a near by fan on. He gave a poor excuse about how he couldnt turn it on. And to add even more the Real Madrid and Barcelona game was on. There were three tvs near by and when we asked about turning them on he said they didnt work. This may be true (if it is they should be fixed) but it seemed so not genuine I assumed he was being lazy.We were there about 3 hours but the last hour was just waiting on him to somehow even chat about paying the bill and then actually paying it.The tip was automatically included which was good for him because several people in my party said they would have not tipped him at all due to the bad service. All of that into consideration I have been here before and the service was good. Like I said before the food and hookah was also great! So if you want good food and hookah I suggest going, but you may not get the best service.
Awesome place. Sam has great service along with the rest of the staff. The food was fantastic along with the atmosphere 🙂 will be coming back
I believe THIS BUSINESS NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN! The staff is incapable of managing even a 10 people within the entire café. The service quality is absolutely horrible!!
You can only go here for a hookah! Because once they give you that they won’t show up again to ask if you need food or anything. And it’s embarrassing to see the manager on her phone and doing nothing about it.
Awesome Atmosphere. Good crowd. Perfect open hours. Would love to try more juicy food to give a verdit on it. First try and Im impressed. Definitely coming back for a chillaxing evening. Would definitely want more gravy combos with the main course. Loved it.
The most tastiest dish I have had here is the chicken kabob platter . I have been looking for same taste as my country but couldnt find it anywhere but at Mawal . Its tastes exactly the same . I ll definitely come back
This place used to be good couple years ago but their service and quality of hookah had dropped drastically. I went to mawal two days ago, ordered a hookah and several water bottles and a tea pot The hookah was broken and was leaking smoke from the pipe. So we asked the individual who brought us the hookah if he can fix the issue, he Brought out another pipe to attach to the hookah. I was waiting on my friends, I tried the hookah and I didn’t like the quality. So I decided I will just go to another hookah lounge and leave. Also Nothing else from my order made it to the table except the hookah. When I went to the front desk to pay for my order and cancel the rest of the order which never made it to my table. The waiter told me that I have to pay for everything I ordered. I told her that I am glad to pay for the tea if it was made already but the 6 water bottles that I ordered and never made it to my table, can you cancel that from my total bill? The waiter told me that you have to pay for the water bottles you ordered which never made it to my table. It was the worst experience I have ever had at any hookah joint. I didn’t even get to smoke the hookah because it was broken. I spent 50.00 dollars for just going in and sitting there for 15 mins in which I just placed an order and received a broken hookah, and terrible service. Trust me, I used to be a regular to this place couple years ago but they have but they have changed drastically for the worse. Go to Nara or La Pasha. Trust me. Better hookah there and way better service.
Belly Dance on Weekends...Nice ambience and okay Mediterranean food. However the public here is not only to eat as the DJ plays nice Arabic and Bollywood music and hookah lovers actually crowd the place. You wont regret your evening.Note: They have Valet Parking. NO FREE PARKING.
The service is very bad👎🏻👎🏻. I waited 20 minutes, then a girl came to me and told me to let me see if the service is available for you. At the same time, the food is not good, it tastes bad.. It was a stupid experience for me, and I do not wish this to be repeated with anyone else.
