Had a great lunch, food was really good pot roast sandwich was really good. I had the seasonal special of bang bang shrimp tacos which didnt disappoint. They do charge additional restaurant fee and server couldnt explain what it was for. Had a bunch of up charges that we werent expecting.

I came here with my baby and dog for a quiet afternoon meal while on a road trip. The service was friendly and welcoming. I love that they are dog (and baby) friendly!! (There were 2 other dogs there during our visit, and even another baby.) The view of the St Croix River is beautiful, and the food was tasty. I really enjoyed the cranberry brie turkey sandwich.

The food was amazing we loved it I definitely recommend going to this place I really especially loved the chicken queso wrap that I got and I got the moose is loose Burger and I think its called the Hickory Burger theyre all really good

We had a big party (started with 15 that grew into 24 as other family members arrived from out of town). Our server was wonderful! Drinks were good, food was tasty (and large portions) and everything came out quickly. In fact, we liked it so much Thursday night, so some of us returned Saturday on the patio for brunch.

We were in the area and decided we needed food, so after some searching we decided on here. Got there and didnt seem too busy but we were just the start of the rush. Filled up pretty quickly but service did not miss. Decided to order the wings with Cajun Ranch dry rub and Burbon BBQ burger. Both came fast and hot was a little disappointed on the rub was expecting a little hotter the BBQ was hotter but Both were delicious! We will definitely be back.

Stopped here for dinner with a bunch of guys on an annual golf trip. I got the moose is loose and it was amazing! The sauce that came with it was delicious the burger was cooked perfectly, couldnt have been more satisfied. The atmosphere was very cool, we sat in the outdoor area and it also has a second level. The staff was very friendly and our waitress was great, she was very personable and kept track of multiple orders. Would absolutely go back.

This place was really good! Started with the steak bites and chicken wild rice soup. Both were very good and filling. The husband had the Ribs with mashed potatoes and said they were perfect. I had the Moose is loose burger, my only complaint is it was a little bland but still good. Our service was awesome, music was decent and would definitely come back 👌

We went there just of the Juicy Lucy type stuffed burgers, which were great, and the rest was bonus. The inside is beautiful, cool, and authentic. The service was prompt but not intrusive.Then we wanted desert. Someone should have warned me. The carrot cake portion was humongus, (like the size of a small childs head, no exaggeration) and it was the best carrot cake in my 58 year long life. And carrot cake is my favorite. I didnt eat for the rest of the day. The next day I woke up and wished Id saved some or bought another piece. My wife had apple pie a la mode, and seemed to like it. Shes allergic to walnuts so I didnt have to share my carrot cake.

The best part about this place is the open air patio overlooking the river. We had a few appetizers, including the fried pickles and wings that were very solid. The hamburger was below par but the fries were awesome. The service was excellent and ambience was amazing. Incredible sunset dinner for our group.

This place is amazing. The customer service is outstanding, very friendly staff. The food is made from scratch, and this is some of the best comfort food that I have had.

After sitting at our table for 15-20 minutes we had to ask someone how we could get service. I dont think our table was assigned to the waiter who ended up taking care of us, but he was really nice. The cooks in the kitchen didnt bother to look hard at our order. I asked for no avocado and artichokes on my St. Croix salad, but they were put on it. One of my kids got a plain hamburger but a cheeseburger was brought out, so our 5 year old had to wait for a new burger while the rest of us had our food. We ate here a year ago and things tasted better then.

Walked in and there were four staff members who didn’t acknowledge us. It’s a place where you’re seated by a hostess and we waited, then walked to the bar and asked if we could have a drink and sit outside, but we were never acknowledged or led to a table after getting a bloody (it was good). It’s a shame because the atmosphere is very cool. Will not be returning and would not recommend if you like to order when you go to a bar and grill.

First time in Hudson, WI and we chose this restaurant due to the live music playing.They have lots of seating indoors in addition to patio seating upstairs overlooking the water and seating downstairs.Food was decent. We had stuffed burgers and boneless chicken wings. The sweet potato fries were really good.We also had blueberry lemon mule, which was ok, but the raspberry mojitos were better.

You got to try the dry rub chicken wings. The lemon pepper and the smiling moose favorite. Their spices and the Carolina BBQ is so nummy got to love this place. Come here every time I go to the Hudson

Stopped in for lunch. I had the walleye fingers, wife had the Mac and cheese. Both were pretty good. Wait staff was attentive. Tables are packed in tight, Id hate to be here when its busy. Log Cabin themed dining area. Would stop in again. Love the area

The food was delicious! We had the walleye, cheese curds, ranch chicken wrap and soup. We chose the outdoor seating with a view of the St. Croix River. The service was pretty good, but I wish the waitress would have been more helpful as to what actually came with the entrées. Overall a good experience.

Had a great lunch of fish and chips of local walleye. Nice portion and quick service. They have a lot of outdoor seating and lots of indoor as well it’s right on the river it was great and affordable. Great menu.

Old school lodge feel overall. Food was good along with the service. First time my wife and I have been there well worth the stop if your in Hudson.

Came from MN with some friends during the 4th of July firework show and carnival at night. This bar has a great atmosphere and location.Buddies got drinks from the bar, (kitchen was closed), I only wanted water since I don’t drink. Bartender purposely did not get my water. My buddy went back up to the bar a 2nd time, and the bartender would still not get my water.Doesn’t matter how busy it is, don’t ignore customers simply because the drink doesn’t cost anything.

Food was really good!! And it didnt took long at all! We had a nice server and the outside sitting is beautifulI had the salmon entrée with the soup. The raspberry lemonade was sweet and refreshing. Totally Recommend.

Ate here on a Saturday night when they had live music going which was a nice surprise! There’s an extensive menu with lots of options and it’s has tons of seating both indoor and outdoor.This was my first time in Hudson, WI, and this restaurant is conveniently located near Lake St. Croix which made for a nice sunset and a pretty walk after I ate. The food was pretty good and the huge selection makes it easy for large groups or picky eaters.

Went here with my wife based on a recommendation by 2 family members. I was told the food was really good and it was a lovely place. Drove 40 miles in a blizzard expecting to have a nice dinner. It was a warm and lively atmosphere when we walked and were seated promptly. Wasn’t busy in dining area and bar had 12 customers. Ordered steak (medium), wild rice soup, teriyaki green beans, and Cajun tater tots. Wife ordered blackened walleye dinner. When food was brought to table our plates looked like they were sitting a while before served. The soup was warm but tasted great. Everything else was not that good. The steak was cool and overcooked and barely edible with a butter knife and fork (no steak knife). Cajun tots were barely seasoned and cold. The server was very friendly and had a great attitude. I understand an establishment may have a bad day for a variety of reasons. It may have been an off night for “The Smiling Moose” due to the weather, but we weren’t smiling after this experience.

The smiling moose was amazing! Such great service and food. The fried cheese curds were delicious and the flatbreads and sandwiches were also great!

This is a very active bar in Hudson! If you’re looking for a bustling environment, good food, a variety of drinks, attentive service and even late night music - the Smilin Moose Lodge Bar & Grill is for you! Parking can be a bit of a pain if you go during the busy hours, but it’s worth the walk! I got the Chicken Ranch Wrap with Fries and added Buffalo Sauce to the wrap! It was delish! Our server was incredibly kind, helpful, funny and attentive! Check it out if you’re in the area!

Great sturdy bathroom. Definitely a bar bathroom. Only one stall. 3 clean and fragrant urinals. One complaint is the water pressure is ridiculous when washing your hands. Middle sink could pressure wash your car and your genitalia. Overall clean and large bathroom.

Great place. I really loved the food. The only thing I was a little put off by was the upkeep of the place. I noticed the walls and decor could use some dusting. Its just my thing. Some dust is ok, but when you can see it on everything, I think its time to dedicate a day to clean.

The inside is cabin themed, compete with fireplace, and is very comfy. The food was also excellent. I’m definitely coming back

Many choices. Always wild rice chicken soup on hand. Walleye fingers, bourbon bacon burger and tasty appetizers are our favorites. Outdoor patio upstairs and down.

We were here for a company lunch. The burger I had was pretty good, and the tater tots were very tasty. I could have used about twice as much of the seasoned sour cream, but I made due.Everyone seemed happy with their food, and the staff was friendly....although some of us ran out of drinks and had to wait a while before refills were offered. I thought things were a bit overpriced, but the portions were ample.Overall, a good experience, and I would eat here again.

Great location to enjoy the Packer Game. Easy to get to from Minnesota if the game is blocked. Get there early to enjoy the drink specials and to get a seat. Plenty of TVs and very attentive staff. The food was very tasty and a lot of it.

Fun place to stop by for a drink and a dance on the weekend, but often a bit to busy. You can expect to wait up to ten minutes for a drink and spending 30 bucks for 3 to 4 drinks. How ever they are often not busy at all during winter.

We love to go and sit ontheir outdoor patios and have drinks and dinner. The food is great and we have always had spectacular service.

Experience was good when I walked in door. Drink was prepared correctly and tasted good. When it came to the menu I was thoroughly disgusted. They are wanting you to buy the food and had good descriptions. However, for persons like myself who are on a calorie diet and looking for the nutritional info...there was none. WHY???? So, house salad and a bowl of soup. Loss of business from me. Owners need to reevaluate the need to put info in the menus. It would help in more people making decisions. Then paying the bill and there wa sa Restaurant Fee of the WHOLE bill of 3%. When I questioned it I was told They havent raised prices in a couple of years so they just charge 3% at END of every bill. LEGAL????? Just saying...

Went to smiling Moose for breakfast and watch football today. Everything was great. Food, service the bartender Abby is top notch! Like I said everything great till we got are bill. Let me explain I totally understand restaurants charging a 3% fee for credit cards.because they get charged that by the credit card companies. So the moose has a 3% restaurant fee I was paying in cash and assumed this would be removed. But apparently the moose charges a 3% fee on top of your bill? I was told the did this so they did not have to raise there prices. I’m sorry but I think this is wrong I would much rather have you raise your prices than put a restaurant fee on your bill. As far as I’m concerned this is false advertising and does not reflect the actual prices of your food or drinks. Again the bartender Abby is very good at what she does and by no means was I ever upset with her in anyway. This is just poor business practice by management or ownership! I get it it’s only 3% it’s not going to make a brake me. I just think this is wrong and misleading! What if you decide you want to make your restaurant fee 40% or 50% are we as customers expected to pay that?

Food was good, service was good, and cool decor but very cold in the whole backside of the restaurant because that garage door is apparently not insulated. We went when it was around 0 degrees outside so suggest sitting in the front half of the restaurant when temperatures are that low.

Food was pretty good. Needs a little TLC before it can get a 5 star it could use a facelift.

We celebrated our last summer soccer game of the regular season last night. Called ahead (about 15 people came) to let them know. They pushed some tables together for us and we had. Nice rooftop / outdoor setting. Service was great, our server Madi must be used to teams as she used Jersey numbers to coordinate the bills. Food was great! I dont recall the name of my burger - but it was awesome! Really tasty, didnt even need ketchup. Overall our service was great, we enjoyed ourselves and had a great time. I will be taking the rest of my family here later this summer as the food and experience were that good.

Friendly staff and a bustling atmosphere on a Friday night. It can be loud, so be prepared to speak up and maybe miss some of what the other person is saying.There werent any vegan or vegetarian options or anything that appeared allergy friendly, especially for a dairy allergy.

Lovely outdoor patio, dog friendly. Good menu, just dont order the salads. Lettuce completely old and gooey. Hard boiled eggs were over cooked and dark green. My dinner ranked in the horrible gross department. Other meals in our party were tasty. Beer was cold, tough to get a few glasses of water though, so we just went without.

We had a few meals at the Smilin Moose during a hockey tournament. The food is quite good and the atmosphere feels very rustic. The only issue is that the garage doors leak a ton of cold air in on cold days. Dont sit back there!

I had lunch on a Monday and sat on the patio. Nice atmosphere overlooking the lakefront park and river. Mostly high top tables and wire chairs that aren’t the most comfortable but not terrible either. Lots of umbrellas so shade was good.The menu is huge so everyone should be able to find something to eat. I had the Avocado Impossible Burger. It was really good. It could use something like coleslaw or pickled onions inside for texture but flavors were great. A great casual restaurant and bar with a good patio.

The lower level outdoor bar is one of top 2 in Hudson.... especially when live music is playing on top level.

Nice to get out of Minnesota for a walk and a bite, but just average bar food. Waited forever for our food in a half full lower level. Ordered the sampler platter and couldnt even finish it. Will try another place next trip back to Hudson. Beers were good and cold.

We always stop here when we are in Hudson or the areas. We not only love the atmosphere but also their St. Croix coconut chicken salad. Awesome fried walleye fish finger.

Loved our meal at The Smiling Moose!First let me say that we went on a Wednesday evening and it was mostly full, they were short staffed, but our waitress still did an amazing job! The food was excellent! I had a The Moose is on the Loose burger (Angus beef), and my wife had fish (Walleye) & chips, and both meals were delicious! The prices were reasonable and loved the log cabin atmosphere.This is a unique and great place to enjoy a meal.

Went for weekday lunch. Staff was cheerful and attentive ... once they seated you. View from the deck is great. Music gives the place a frathouse party atmosphere. Probablynot wise to go there expecting great food, at least not if you order the poutine (too salty) or the chips and salsa we ordered.

Neat place to get drinks with friends. The atmosphere is a great homage to the Midwest.

Had dinner here on the patio. There is an upper and a lower patio, so lots of space (patio looks out over/at the St Croix river). I had walleye fingers from the appetizer menu which never disappoint. The waitress was responsive and pleasant. Restaurant is clean and well kept with street parking available.

We normally love the Smilin Moose. Last weekend, though, we were very disappointed when we stopped in for a drink and appetizer. We ordered Chicken Nachos. A huge plate of them came out almost immediately. Unfortunately, they had NO sauce on them. We asked the waiter for a side of sauce. After about ten minutes, the waiter provided a tiny bowl of it. The best part was receiving the bill and seeing we were charged for that sauce that should have been on the Nachos before they were ever served. Classy. Money spent better elsewhere, I guess.

Ordered appetizer and cup of wild rice soup and bacon cheese burger. Food tasted good. Service was exceptional and our server came to our table three different times and asked us if we needed anything. Will definitely come here again.

This place was better than I was expecting. To be honest I figured it would be low grade unexceptional American food. It was actually quite good. The service wasn’t great as there were five of us and they seated us at a small square table and forgot to bring silverware and were generally inattentive but, honestly, maybe it was a bad day because the experience overall was still better than expected and I’d return.

This is a pretty cool place in downtown Hudson. The food is good with pretty generous portions. Lots of selection from beer to their custom drink menu. Lots of TVs too so itd be great for taking in a game.

Chicken and ribs was great and they have the best Tots! Crunchy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside with the signature Cajun dipping sauce. It is not spicy at all btw.

Great place to eat. I never been disappointed by the state of the dining area, the food, or the people who work there. Ive tried a few different burgers there now and loved every one. Orders are always done in a reasonable time and the waiters and waitresses make sure drinks are flowing. Will definitely be visiting more often.The balcony/patio areas are the perfect hangout spots in the summer for drinks and live music!

I just do not like the tables and chairs here. The table tops are always sticky. Chairs are heavy and clunky to move. We went on a beautiful day, and the patio was packed, but the inside was completely empty. They have the ability to open screened garage doors and side windows, which were shut. Their dessert menu is awful except for the large carrot cake.

Cool vibe of a place. Liked how you could see the water from the patio. We did sit inside because we had kids with us. Service was kinda slow and the other servers who were hanging out behind us were not appropriate with their language with a table full of young kids. Food came out pretty quickly was just mediocre nothing over the top fantastic.

Great atmosphere, too bad the seating was so uncomfortable, after 15 minutes I was done. The food was good, a bit pricey for essentially a burger joint/sports bar, but in downtown Hudson, they have to pay the rent. It was a good meal, large portions, uncomfortable accommodations, at a not unreasonable cost.

We stopped in last weekend when we where camping. Though well its raining lets go into town and see what is there! We walked by and the place was live and looked like a fun place. We walked around for a bit and came back. The staff is warm and welcoming and the atmosphere is so fun and exciting. The food and drinks where spot on and really good. If im back in the area will come by again.

The place was cool. Server was very nice and knowledgeable. Food was meh at best. Walleye was loaded with bones and not the greatest Ive had. Tots were soggy. The beer selection was mediocre. My wifes drink was so bad she sent it back for another. I probably wont stop in again.

Met up with a friend for lunch as we do @ least 1x month.Sunday @ noon, not busy.Not sure where to start, on a menu that was given to us was a pecan desert, but not served until 2pm. ?Friend wanted a open face turkey sandwich. Wait staff said they didnt have it. Turns out it was a dinner meal. We had separate tabs , the wait staff member, gave us hers & her, my husbands & mine , we didnt notice this until after the tabs were paid for, as no one ever came back to our table even to see if we wanted a fresh beverage. Wont be back. Table was sticky. Service poor.

Terrific spot. We were part of a large party that came in on a late Saturday afternoon/early evening. A very cool ba & grill with a patio -- that played live music -- with a nice view of the water and an log-cabin interior straight out of the 19th century Klondike. Atmosphere was buzzing with a great upper midwest summer vibe. The service was first rate: friendly, fast and able to deal with a frenetic pace of a high energy place. The food was excellent (bar food was the mainstay of the menu - I dont mean that in a perjorative sense - Im a big fan and it happens to be a bar and grill). Plenty of cocktails, wine, beer and spirits abound for those who want to imbibe. Highly recommend!

I forgot about this place until it showed up on my FB timeline. I stopped in here once, a few years ago, and it was amazing. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. A really fun environment. Im planning a trip back soon.

Went for lunch today, this is a really great lunch and dinner spot. Huge spacious restaurant with plenty of room to social distance. Our server Chelsea was amazing. Perfect timing and attitude. Food was very good and always consistent. I had my favorite, the pot roast. It was Supreme, super moist and tender. Plenty to take home with me too. My wife had the Tennessee chicken that she loved. The manager Joy is very good and stopped by as well. It was not very busy, and the food was very quick as it is even when they have been busy. The owner is also an Army Veteran.

Do you like racism? Well, Smilin Moose is the best place where you can get it, yesterday I was relaxing with my father having a couple of drinks when suddenly two security guys arrived to take us to the exit without giving us an explanation among the people as if we were criminals or Bad people, and being outside, they forced us to withdraw due to supposed complaints that the security guys said that we were affecting the environment and that we were harassing women, which is a complete lie, we did not remain silent and demand evidence of any kind and these people completely denied it to us (he clarified that we were the only Latino people in the place) I had never experienced this type of situation in my life, neither because of my nationality nor because of my skin color until I arrived at this place, I hope that the people who read this reflect and hopefully justice is done, all people are equal and we all deserve the same treatment, good luck if you enter this place.

This was our first time bringing our 2 dogs to a pet-friendly patio, so we werent quite sure what to expect. Hubby and I had a really nice, comfortable time with our furbies there!! Would go again and highly recommend it!!

We took my daughter and her boyfriend to lunch here last Saturday and it was fantastic! Everybody loved the walleye sandwich and I highly recommend the sweet potato fries! I had the grilled chicken club and it was great! The patio was very nice and they allow dogs outside.

Waited at our table for over 1/2 hour for a server. Went to the bar to order our drinks and food. Bartender was great and said he will send a server to our table. She came AFTER we went looking for the server. Bummer!

I have been here a few times and have enjoyed the food every time. It has an incredibly fun and comforting atmosphere that makes you feel as if youve been transported up north. It took quite a while to get service or for anyone to notice us, but once we placed orders, everything came out fairly quickly.

My friends and I have loved going to the moose, the staff have always been nice and helpful. It was our favorite place to go. Sadly, one of the security staff members rudely kicked out my boyfriend and his best guy friend who were visiting from out of town for using the restroom together (girls do it all the time, I know first hand). There is a sign on the door but the door was open and neither my boyfriend or his friend saw the sign. They got no warning and this man didnt care to hear us out. Very sad that my favorite restaurant had a security staff member treat my friends and I so poorly.Date and time when it happened: 5/27/23 @ 11pm*UPDATE INCREASED RATING FROM 1 STAR TO 3 STARS*They have since updated their policy about the bathroom. 2 people are allowed in the bathroom at the same time! Hopefully they will be more lenient if it happens to someone on accident and they don’t notice/see the sign.

Great downtown hudson spot, gotta sit on patio, usually a dude with a guitar on deck playing some tunes, prolly the guy who always brings a guitar too bonfires 🙄 wings were undercooked last time, but normally good food too

It’s hit or miss. Sometimes you get amazing service, sometimes you feel like you’re intruding on staff playtime. The food is pretty consistent and the drinks are good. A little overpriced but on par with the rest of downtown Hudson.

Family of 11 had supper there. Food, service, and drinks were all excellent!! Most of us were from out of the area. We will definitely return every time we visit the area...Im just sorry I didnt take photos to post...

The fish is delicious, my family ordered different dishes we like it , the drinks are good and they are friendly. Nice view outside and in winter is nice too

I’ve had mixed experiences here. Sat on the patio once for brunch and the food and drinks were awesome. Our server was very busy but did her best to accommodate our large group, no complaints from any of us that day. The server kicked a**However, about a month later my husband and I came back for an early dinner (4:30pm). We sat at the bar and ordered beer. The bartender grabbed a hot glass fresh out of the dishwasher for my beer making my beer instantly warm. There were other clean glasses already out, I don’t know why he went for a hot glass. Then he proceeded to basically ignore us the entire time. Never asked if we wanted food menus. A couple came in after us, also sat at the bar, and they got food menus and ordered dinner. We just took our check after one disappointing beer and went elsewhere for dinner.

First visit ever and bartender was great and attentive. Ordered the nachos and there was no cheese. Very blah. Perhaps they missed it given it had rest of ingredients described on menu, but without cheese, I’ll never order nachos again.

Our server was attentive but did not hover. Spring chicken salad was awesome. I appreciated how we were able to carry on a conversation even though the place was busy.

Was there on a Saturday for our Daughters Bday. We got a special table and great service. The food was really good and and servered at the right time. I could hear well and loved the fun atmosphere...I had the Focaccia Grilled Cheese. Excellent for all of us all 7 of us. Montana was our server and they all were great to us.Our daugher was in a wheelchair and all was good there!

Friendly fast service. This place was clean in the restaurant/bar area and the bathroom. Our server was friendly and funny. We enjoyed all the dishes we ordered and our drinks.

The blonde bartender routinely messes up mixed drinks. But rarely ever serves something that is undrinkable. Great atmosphere, great music when you go for a dance night. Decent food when youre there for a meal. One of my favorite spots in Hudson.

Great servers & bartenders. Honestly love them. They have a violently atrocious disgusting waste of space for a DJ. What an absolute degenerate pathetic excuse for a human being. Seriously have gagged & violently puked because of whatever the frick is coming out of those speakers. If you try to say next song or recommend anything he literally gets you kicked out. Not joking, that actually happened. I can not believe they actually pay that guy to be there. I would honestly pay him to not be there. Their sorry excuse for a manager couldn’t even give us a reason why he was kicking ppl out. Just some small D energy, happens to most guys who are 5’3 I guess. F the Smilin moose

Love this place service was great. Food was again awesome! I had ribs with Yukon gold buttery potatoes. My guest had chicken wrap and sweet potato fries 😋 everything was delicious. This place is huge! accomodations are a plentyIt has an inside, a patio and a underneath outside bar. Walking distance to the river 😁 Smiling Moose does not disappoint!

Tale of two experiences. The good: Inside brunch Saturday and Sundays are the best! The service has always been on point! The food wonderful and the bloody and mimosa specials are a great value. Favorite place for Sunday brunch in Hudson, was just there yesterday. The bad: The deck and lower patio are beautiful, however the service is really, really bad. I tried several times last summer and the experience was the very much the same, waited over 5 minutes to see a server at the table. Had to order and get drinks from the bar myself. When we did see a server waited over 10 minutes for drinks and over 1/2 hour for the food after the order was placed. Had to get flatware and water ourselves. When the check never arrived we had to wait at the bar for 5 minutes while the bartender tried to get the check for us to pay. If you want food, go inside upstairs. The patio is good for drinks only.

Absolutely loved the basket of bones.The atmosphere is upbeat YET intimate.The service is awesome. The whole serving crew works together.Had a specific part of the security crew members dedicated to disinfecting areas and limiting patrons to bathrooms which was very well organized. Great to see during the current needs.Special requests were accepted with a smile and managed VERY well. Efficient timing.Great staffGREAT food

Management was very very rude to us when we went. i went with my family and boyfriend and they kicked my boyfriend out because his shirt was too revealing! they told him to go buy a new shirt and separated us from my family it was the fat manager it was a guy and then the girl hostesses we’re all giggling and looking at us the whole time after he got a new shirt i’m disgusted with this ratchet place very trashy and i’m hurt from this experience spend your money and time somewhere else!

Been here several years ago and again last weekend to celebrate my daughters birthday. The food is delicious and generously served! Although we sat inside, they had live performance on the patio that played throughout the restaurant, so you didnt really feel you were missing out. I dont play slots, but for those that do, they have some. Bloody Mary was really good and the salmon was delicious! Prices were reasonable. Ill be back.

Came in with a larger group for my husbands birthday. Our server and all the staff were so patient with us and super nice. This was our first time here and everything was perfect!Great food, great drinks, great service!

The ribs are good, probably the best in town. The service was ok - the male server got our order wrong, twice - it was clear that he wasnt listening - but it was corrected. However, I really dont understand having the female staff wear short shorts while the male staff wear jeans or practical shorts. It was clear from body language that this is not a personal choice. You are not Hooters. You dont need to degrade your staff just to get business.

The service was good. But the food not so much. I had the steak wrap and most of the filling was good for you green stuff only 7 lil bite size chewy pieces of meat:( We also had the loaded tots and they were warm at best and the outsides were soggy.

Overall service was good, food excellent. I had my granddaughter out for dinner, she chose lemonade to drink, was not very good so asked to switch to a soda, we got charged full price for both. Usually refills of nonalcoholic beverages are free. I was not pleased

Love the lodge look! Super cool, great food and drinks and beautiful view of the deck. Had the walleye dinner with to 5 oz fillets and it was seriously enough for two people, my girlfriend and I split it. Plenty of food for both. The wild rice soup was excellent and had lots of chicken in it which is often hard to find in a restaurant soup. Definitely worth the drive to go to dinner there , saw many other plates go by as they were being served and the food all looks phenomenal😋

I sat in the lower patio tonight. Ordered a sandwich it was terrible Couldnt eat it. Sent it back. No offer to fix or get something else. Very disappointed Smiling Moose. Paid for a meal I couldnt eat. I was asked weeks ago to reach out on the FB page. I did. No response. Fail again Smiling Moose.

Our first time there, but will not be our last. We walked in just before 5 on a Saturday with a party of 7. We were seated within in 15 minutes. The food was awesome!!! Portions are generous, bring an appetite. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive.

Met up with some friends for dinner and cocktails. The atmosphere was good, the server was great, food was delicious, all be it my tots were a tad on the cool side.What we really didnt like is the 3% service fee that is now attached to all bills if you pay with a card and is based on the amount of your bill, so the more you spend, the more of a fee you pay. The mark up on food in restaurants is already plenty high, as with everything else, and being that more and more places are going to card only after the whole covid pandemic, we felt that adding a fee if you pay with a card is b.s and we probably wont go back due to this. Rarely do i or many people i know carry cash with them all the time.

The food was great and the service was quick, and friendly. I was seated immediately, even with the busy football crowd. They played multiple games and all were in view. I highly recommend the deep fried pickles as an app. Normally I’ve had slices when ordering at other restaurants, but these were spears. I thought that was a nice twist and they were delicious. I’ll be going back the next time I’m in town.

We went there after a camping trip and we had our dogs with us and they have a dog friendly patio! The staff was great, they gave our dogs bowls of water with ice and the food was excellent! Get place to visit, we will definitely return if we head back to that area!

Went tonight with a friend and the overall experience was terrible. The food and my drink was the only enjoyable piece of our experience. Our waitress had a bad attitude, I get it things aren’t easy, no need to get an attitude with us when we ask a simple question. The waitress we had never asked how are food was, we had to ask for her many times, even had to ask for our silverware and napkins. We didn’t even get our silverware. Ordered a dessert after that took 20 plus minutes we went to the bar to pay and never saw the dessert. We did see waitress many times hiding at the other side of restaurant arrant. Never going back.

This is a pretty good restaurant. The food is what you would typically expect from a Bar and Grill and is good quality. Nice spot to meet with friends as it has a good atmosphere, and car watching in this area can be pretty decent. Alcoholic drinks can be a bit pricey depending on what you get, so make sure you check the price before you order.

Fun place, noted for their burgers, (I agree) if you like Bloody Marys, very reasonably priced and comes with a beer chaser of your choice of beer from a large selection.

Food was super greasy, which was to be expected, but a lot was also totally bland and disappointing. Liked our waitress though, but she forgot us a lot and would leave mid-order.A very strange experience to be honest. Place was clean and drinks were good, when they werent forgotten to be brought to us (our waitress informed us someone had just left them on a counter for 20 minutes before we got them).

Very good food, we tried apps and burgers.I am very picky about my fries being crispy. They got it just right. Burgers cooked as expected and seasoning of beef is terrific.Someone needs to provide training on how to pour beer into a growler. When we got home to enjoy our beer it is completely flat.

Stopped into the lower outside bar to celebrate our 6 year anniversary. Was looking forward to having a few fancy drinks and a nice meal. We sat at the bar and were completely ignored by the bartender while he served everyone around us, even people that came in after us. For some reason he wouldnt even look at us. We are in our sixties and were dressed decent so we couldnt figure it out. Waited 15 minutes and finally left when he served the people that came in and sat next to us. Went to pier 500 instead. Very upsetting and disappointing.

Yet again another restaurant that is way overpriced for what you get. Food pickup time was off so cold food yum. On Christmas as well. Cold flavorless fries fast food places have better fries. Took a bite of the $13 cheeseburger and no surprise but no flavor. Doesnt come with mayo or ranch even tho the prices youd think they did. You get half a cup of queso cheese.. Like quarter of the chips get dip only I guess? And to top it all off we had missing items. Dont waste your money here I regret it. I seen how popular it was and thought Id give it a try when I can splurge but no just another place that rich and/or people dont care to pay for even when its bad food and bad service so it stays running.

At any time of day, this place is worth going to. During the day they have great food, their lunch is so good. At night its so much fun to come here and drink and dance. We love it especially in the summer, when its warm. The patio/deck are open at night so the dance floor leads outside to the deck and its so nice!

While in town we decided to have dinner here tonight. So glad we did! I had the fish and chips and my husband had the hot turkey plate. They were both amazing! And enough food for at least 4 people! We ended with the smore brownie dessert and it was beyond delicious!!! I high recommend you treat yourself and eat here!

Excellent local pub! Great atmosphere! Lots of places to sit, plenty TVs to watch games on. Great menu with a nice selection! The half rib rack was yummy and pretty big for just a half rack! Loved it! Absolutely loved the Satans Mule, delicious!

The new Seasonal Goat Cheddar Cheese burger is the best burger Ive had from a restaurant and a very long time!!! Highly recommend it, the flavor is unbelievably amazing. Also my girlfriend got the Salmon BLT also from the seasonal menu and that was incredible as well. The size of fish you get is perfect and she loved it. Will be back here once a week for the amazing food and amazing staff that they have

I had a bad experience the last time I visited, but the food and waiter Mario, completely made up for it! The skillets we had were delicious and Mario was extremely attentive and sweet! Thank you Mario for the great experience, well definitely be back to see you again!

Good food, fun patio, a taste of normalcy. I had the chicken club with regular fries. We had a pretty good sized group but only had to wait 10 minutes for a table on the patio. Easy walk to the water if you take a boat to Hudson.

I was there Saturday 11/24/18, for the first time and had a really fun time. I havent had that much fun in a few years. Dancing and drinks, were great. I met a few fun down to earth people, one in particular. The Security staff had their work cut out for them, but looked as if they handled it well. The bartenders were super busy, but did what they could to be fast and on the ball. Cool to see safe sober rides right out front (very important). My buddies and I will definitely be back soon. I am seriously impressed with this restaurant. Tons of beer to choose from. Food was fantastic. Staff was better than fantastic. Our servers were incredible. Every person from the door to the payment of bill was so friendly, atmosphere was great. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I would 100% recommend and will revisit the Smilin Moose.

Delicious food, a cheese lover’s paradise! Our waiter was wonderful. Additionally, I mistakenly though our card was charged wrong and when I called in to ask, the staff member went out of her way to assist me and email an itemized receipt. This kind of place makes me miss living in the Midwest!

We went here for a friends birthday. I was very pleased with the service. The band they had playing that night was a ton of fun. Being from MN I dont get to drink Spotted Cow from tap very often. Since they serve it here I cant wait to go back. We all had a ton of fun and will most definitely be going back!

Great place to go if you want a different atmosphere. Have been inside only the few times Ive been here. If many people, can be more difficult to hear in conversation. Food was great. Parking can be tricky in the area due to it filling up quickly. Have taken multiple family members here and they really enjoy it. Have not heard the live band they have. Good overall.

Great patio with a river view! We went for happy hour on a Wednesday. Captain cokes are 3 during happy hour. Service was fast and friendly. I do wish they had more umbrellas but overall the Smiling Moose is one of the best patios in Hudson for happy hour!

Had the Steakhouse wrap. The quality and flavor of the beef was perfect! Kudos to the chef and having it as a selection on your menu.👏

Had a wonderful Sunday afternoon watching football. Great, friendly staff even though the place was packed for the Viking and Packer games. Had the chicken nachos which were HUGE and delicious! Would definitely return!

Went to the smiling Moose for a burger today with my daughter. The food was good but probably the worst service I’ve had at a restaurant in at least 5 years. This young waitress gave us menus Then 15 minutes later I had to ask the bartender if I could get our waitress to take our order if she just forgot about us or what? Then a girl who was a food runner brought our food very pleasant and nice I ask her for a refill on my drink which had been sitting at the end of our booth for 10 minutes. She refilled it for me. Then after we were done eating waited another 10 to 15 minutes keep in mind still have not seen our waitress. Then had to ask the bartender again if I could have a to go box and maybe he could give us our bill. I have eaten at the smiling moose multiple times and never had service like this. The food is always been good. But to me when I have terrible service like this it is a huge turn off to me as I will not be returning to the smiling moose anytime soon!

The food was fine besides a biscuit that would of worked as a hammer. They made a fresh one for me that was very good. Kind if confused with all the dance club equipment. Doesnt seem to fit the decor. Would give it another try but not overly impressed.

First time going here! Bourbon Burger, Hot Turkey Dinner and Grilled Turkey on Cranberry bread was phenomenal! We live in MN and will definitely be back and worth the drive! Great service and great food!

Had the walleye dinner, 5 large pieces and fried very crispy. Husband had a burger that was so juicy that he enjoyed every bite. Grace our server was so nice and very bubbly. Thank you for a wonderful supper.

Its worth it in the warm weather for the open air bar/patio. The whole place seems to be to be trying just a bit too hard to be the Up North Cabin, but its overall OK.The food is pretty typical of a mid level restaurant. A big menu that tried to appeal to everyone and has a bunch of inoffensive items. Ive had the burgers (pretty good), wings, (ok), various appetizers (fried stuff and fried stuff with cheese), and some stuff off the entree menu. Its a pretty typical place for our out of town workers to go after work for a happy hour, so Ive been several times.Short version, its a nice place to have a summer evening drink and a snack, but I dont know that Id make a special trip to Hudson just to go here.

Got here at 11am and didn’t get food til 1210pm! We were the only ones there… we even had to find the waitress to place our order. Of course after we got our food she never checked on us until we were entirely done. Not sure how 5 staff members can’t figure out how to handle one party for lunch on a Thursday. Disappointed in the moose… no respect of our time on a work day.

The poutine is really good. I had the crab salad special, and it was great. My daughter had the kids chicken tenders, which she liked. Nice outdoor patio and close to the river. We will definitely be back!

I have been here a couple times and the food is delicious! Theres plenty of seating so the wait usually isnt that bad. Going with a large group of people required a 20-25 minute wait during dinner, but still not bad. Definitely good food, reasonably priced, and nice atmosphere.

Food once we got it was OK. Waiting and waiting and waiting for service , drinks, waitress, anybody to help us was another story. I would give the 14 staff people that were aimlessly walking around ( yes I counted as we waited since all had same uniform shirts on ) a pass if the place was full of customers. I also had plenty of time to count the 6 other tables with customers which hardly put a dent in the available seating capacity. I suppose it would not have seemed so bad if 2 of the 4 of us did not face the bar and pointed out to us all the staff visiting with one another. It was maddening to watch one after another staff member walk past us as if we did not exist, stroll out to the outdoor seating area , make a lap and then stroll back past and rejoin the staff grouped at the bar. If you do not mind the complete disorganization and general apathy we received from all staff the food really was not that bad. Then again there are a lot of places with good food and for us the poor experience left a bad taste in our mouths the food could not overcome. We wont be back.

The service is great, and the environment is comfortable and great for groups. We ordered ahead and had our food within about 10 minutes of sitting down. The specialty burgers are excellent, as well as pretty much everything else on the menu. I highly recommend the Smilin Moose.

The Moose has become a staple of downtown Hudson. They offer a wide variety of food for the meal time crowd. Almost everyone can find something they like here. In the evenings, especially on weekends, it turns into a full blown bar. They pour the basics all day and night with a few specialties to mix things up. All of that said, youre not going to find amazing food or drinks here. They play it safe and cater to the standard American taste at a reasonable price point. The staff is usually nice but they get overwhelmed with a full house. The asthenic of the space is nice. Its unique for the area. It can get a bit loud with all the hard surfaces but overall I like it. Its a solid establishment in Hudson thats worth trying for yourself. Its just not quite above average for me.

Loved it here. Great atmosphere, strong drinks and friendly / prompt staff. Went there to dance with a few friends. Open layout to drink, dance and sit out on the patio to enjoy ur beer / smoke. One thing to note, dance floor is between the bar and patio.

Went here to celebrate mothers day with our daughter & her husband. Loved the atmosphere and the mood. Our waitress was excellent. The food was very good.

Big restaurant with a big menu and big portions. They have upper and lower outdoor areas, and can open the windows so that youre practically outside in good weather.The food is good and the kid menu portions are huge. Be sure to order on the more done side as my mother in law and I recently ordered our steaks to be cooked medium and they were very red and rare.Ive never partaken, but they have ladel shots as well as live music.Be advised that parking is always a pain in downtown Hudson near the restaurant on the weekends.

Great hussle, great service and awesome food! Nice bartenders and friendly staff through hard time!I was there on memorial day and surprised at how hard they worked but my party and i unsettled by the Minnesota state (judging by ALL THE MN LICENSE PLATES in town) and other people were very rude.Not a good way to treat the some of the only places that are open during this time when and Minnesota establishments are closed.You could always go back to your neighborhood and try on a holiday.Just a thought. Really good place if you like to go dancing in the summer time. They have a bar downstairs and up. They have great music, friendly staff, and an all over great place to hangout with friends and have some drinks. Would reccomend to many others. Is close to the cities as well. Clean and great atmosphere.

So called “bouncers” are wanna be thugs who think they can do as they please with their $12 wage. If your a single male who goes out to meet some woman and have a good time wrong place to go because the “Nazi” bouncers will stop you from doing anything wether you are buying a round or taking a pi$$. Good food downstairs has great barkeep. Only positives I can say. Go upstairs and deal with the trash bouncers especially the head bouncer Mexican guy with a goatee and black slick hair also overweight with a little man syndrome… horrible thinks he’s Al Capone running the show. Absolute horrible service due to the trash bodyguard will never return or recommend this place. Also bouncer is in cohorts with Ziggys bar so get ready for the same situation down the road. These Mexican bouncers have no respect for anyone

By far one of my most favorite bars. Staff is fricken absolutely EPIC. Food is great and just the city itself superb. Oh lets not forget the dj literally plays the best setlist every saturday which is where im at come weekends!

LOVE the moose! The service is always good and there are so many awesome food options to pick from. Only complaint is that they took the Lodge BLT (made with candied bacon) off the menu!! :( its a shame to see it go since its always been my go-to order! The place seemed busy and full of energy. We sat inside although there was patio seating. Inside wasn’t nearly as busy as outside. Hostess was friendly and showed us our table. We waited for more than five minutes for a server to come to our table. We saw two that were assisting tables close to us, but we were not greeted by either one. So we decided to move to the bar. As soon as we sat down, the bartender looked at us as like we were a inconvenience, and greeted us less than enthusiastically. He wasn’t that busy, you’d think he’d like to make some money. We sat at the end of the bar that was closest to the servers station. It seemed to be more of a hang out and we could hear them talking about patrons and could hear them ridiculing them. We saw one gentleman who seemed to be the manager or owner? It was the dinner rush on a Friday night and he was more interested in sitting at the bar on his phone and mingling with the servers, rather than greeting patrons and making his presence known. Overall it was a less than professional environment. It seemed like a toned down Hooters with college students that were required to have a certain appearance to work there. The bartender had absolutely no personality. Nor did he genuinely care about the patrons at the bar. I have worked in the guest service industry my whole life and I was really disappointed with this place. The only thing keeping this place open is the location and how it’s decorated.

Great place to eat! Wonderful service, good food and ample portions!!! As many times as we have eaten there we always see the managers (??) Visiting with customers, preparing tables for next guests, and delivering food. They both manage by leading their staff with their expectations. So very good to see!!In this day and age, we seem to get excited when we just receive adequate service. The Smilin Moose exceeds adequate!! Good Job!!!!

This is my first time leaving a review and I am upset to say its not for praise. Today was my grandmas 71st birthday and she chose to eat at this restaurant for lunch, our family has ate here for her birthday multiple times before. We had mentioned to our server, Abby, it was her birthday while asking about the complimentary dessert. Abby had little to no emotion our whole time there, very flat affect and didnt wish my grandmother well, or even say happy birthday. Being my personality, and a server, I always wish Happy Birthday to anyone who is celebrating. My grandparents both agreed their meal (which is their regular order) was very tasteless and not as well put together as the previous times. At the end of our experience, Abby had added 20% gradituity before we got the bill to pay. My grandpa was not able to chose the amount he wanted to give as a tip. This was the most upsetting part of our experience. To say the least, my grandma said herself, Im disappointed. They were not up to their usual standard with service or food.

The decor is so inviting, the service and food is simply amazing. The menus are simple. And its inexpensive. Great place for date nights or even a family dinner! I highly recomend this place...but make sure youre really hungry cause man do the portion sizes come big. Amazing...simply amazing! I will be returning again and again!

Came for a friends birthday dinner - staff was very friendly and accommodated the large group - we did have to sit a separate pushed together tables for our large group but it worked well! I had the stuffed burger and I would definitely recommend and get it again!

Ive been to the Smilin Moose many times and have always had good experiences, which is the only reason I am giving 2 stars. I had a very poor experience on 4/16. A few friends and I went out for dinner and drinks around 8 PM. The restaurant was decently busy but not packed and we didnt have to wait for a table. Everyone at our table ordered water and my friend ordered a vodka Sprite. The waitress brought 5 out of the 6 waters that were needed and my friends drink was wrong, not a huge deal. She replaced the drink when she returned to our table to take our food order.We then ordered 3 appetizers: 2 poutine and 1 order of nachos. We waited for 30+ minutes until 1 order of poutine came out. I had to seek out a hostess to get plates, napkins, and silverware. 25 minutes passed and we still hadnt received the rest of our food. Our waitress finally came back to check on us and we advised her that our other food still hadnt come out yet. Her response was: I hate working here. She talked to the kitchen and said our food was overlooked but she put in the order again. 10 minutes later she returns to our table with ONLY the nachos. We told her we were still waiting on our other order of poutine so she went back to the kitchen again.Finally all of our food came out, over an hour later, even though half of us had already eaten. The entire evening, our waitress did not ask if we needed anything else or how everything was tasting. Rather than sitting and waiting for her to refill our drinks most of us opted to go up to the bar and order from there instead- most of the time she was too busy socializing with other diners. Based on our experience and the inconveniences, we asked her if some of our food could be comped. She placed all blame on the bartenders/kitchen and talked about how much she hated her job, even though her service the entire night was also mediocre. We did get 1 free order of poutine but my friends who were the ones waiting for 45 minutes had to pay for theirs. When it was time to pay she basically threw our receipts at us and her body language said it all.In total, we sat for 2.5 hours waiting for 3 appetizers, which is unacceptable. Every single person sitting at our table had previous experience working in the service industry so we completely understood that it was a little busy and not every issue we had was out waitresss fault. However, we did not appreciate the attitude toward us and our experience really put a damper on the beginning of our night out.
