Super amazing venue! Went to mixer here during Anime Expo and it was an absolute BLAST! Awesome vibe, great bartenders and even better people to enjoy the night with. Thank you so much for having all of us Vtubers!
I happened to be there for an event that took place last week, I did enjoy the aesthetic of the lounge and the fully immersive speak-easy aspect of this location.I only did not rate the food because I did not order. However for me, more than the ambiance - it was the detail of the bar and wait staff. Annaliza was our waitress/cocktail runner and Kela as well as Larry(?) was quick with making the drinks. I had an awesome night there, due to the event - but the team kept it rolling SEAMLESSLY and that is truly commendable. Its been a little longer in writing the review because (i lost the list of names) however, I want to mention everyone that had something to do with making my evening at this LA Speakeasy all the more enjoyable. Thank you!!!*Kela! Larry! Isaac! Chris! Annaliza! Mac!*I hope to see yall again the next time I visit LA!!*Forgive me if I did not mention your actual title/role but just know that I left in great spirits, due to your teams efforts.*P.S. i asked Annaliza for a picture before leaving out, sorry.
I was walking around town and saw the security standings outside, under a pizza sign, asked them whats going on, turns out its this cool underground joint with amazing bartenders, and different nights play different types of music, but if you like jazz Thursday nights are your night.Larry was the phenomenal behind the bar, you could see the passion each time he was making a drink, and old fashioned is a must at this place, specially when Larry makes it.Also if you have sweet tooth, there are delicious complimentary mini cupcakes there for your enjoyment. And they are absolutely delicious. If you are in town check oit this place, you wont be disappointed.
Beautiful speak-easy-like lounge with funky lit interiors. Lush feels all around this classy place. Their bar is fully stocked and they carry special house cocktails. Two large tables can be reserved for a private party, seating about 8 at each table. There’s a private room in the back, decorated with Shepard Fairey artwork.Nice space for a small band to play live music, and for a DJ to set up a booth. Often this place is used for private events. No technical dress code, but the loungey atmosphere beckons you to dress well.Find street parking out front, entrance is down an alleyway.
We came on a Weds and not open + no indication it would be closed. As three girls travelling solo this made it very unsafe to be in the area. Please consider updating your opening hours so people are aware if you are open and if they should travel to DTLA or not. Very disappointing
I had a decent experience I asked them for stationary as I had to write a draft for my job and they told me housekeeping would bring it up but never did I never got to finish my draft in my report the phone in my room didn’t work and as I was trying to sleep it was a horrible cranking noise all night coming from the walls this time around I didn’t have such a good experience and my fiancé couldn’t sleep at all either and she works for a big cooperation so she was cranky at me I mean we hoped for better, beautiful hotel though. M
I love it! Decor liked the Frank Sinatra would host private party here. Located in an alley next to Bar AMA. Made an awesome old fashioned and a mezcal penicillin! They take credit cards & cash. Went on Wednesday night & found out that every Wednesday 8pm, there will be live Jazz! Totally chill. DTLA chill meets NYC speakeasy underground bar. I recommend it. (Late 2019)** Live jazz session now on Thursday night!! 1/2020
Low key bar in downtown. The safety and security here is a bit questionable. When we entered, they didn’t check any of our bags except someone carrying a larger tote, and even then, they only cared about a water bottle and didn’t thoroughly search. A metal detector could really benefit. The inside was a bit compact for the amount of people attending on a Friday night, seems as though we’re putting too much trust in everyone attending for our general safety in the establishment.
I absolutely love this location.Jazz nights on Thursdays WITH FREE CUPCAKES FROM BIG MAN BAKES😤🧁🔥(No I am not getting paid for promotion I just want him to keep bringing them and maybe some other flavors too...😉) Also a bunch of other great events throughout the weekend. The staff is hugest highlight for me. Security is absolutely respectful, helpful and informative and the bartenders are prompt, amazing, and friendly.Treat them right!
Was having a significant birthday, so I went out to Wednesday Jazz Night.Everyone was exceptional; from the doorman, to the bartender, to the musicians.I had a lovely evening out.No cover. Music was done by midnight. House cocktails are $15 and tip. The daiquiris were nice.I absolutely enjoyed the ambiance and staff! I intend to return.
Amazing space and crowd of people were friendly and not rude. Would come again 🔥🙂↕️.
Great little bar! I really love the vibe there, Its dark and gives lounge vibes however the prices are a little steep for my personal preference.($10 beer $16 cocktail which isnt extremely more than the average drink prices for downtown) They do a jazz night with a band on Thursdays
Drinks were actually very very weak.. music was good. $10 at door. its a Club not a lounge bar.
Best Time with Friends and we were able to surprise our friend on thier birthday with the help of the amazing bartender Kela!! Definitely coming back!Jazz band was everything you want!
The Continental Club is a fantastic music venue that offers a unique and authentic experience for music lovers of all ages. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere, with a stage and dance floor that beckons you to come closer and enjoy the music. One of the best things about The Continental Club is the quality of the music. They host a variety of live bands and performers, ranging from local acts to national headliners, and the talent on display is always top-notch. Whether youre into blues, rock, country, or jazz, theres something for everyone at The Continental Club.Another great feature of The Continental Club is the atmosphere. The venue has a vintage feel, with a classic jukebox, vintage neon signs, and a cozy seating area that makes you feel right at home. The sound quality is also excellent, with a state-of-the-art sound system that ensures every note and lyric is crystal clear. The convenience factor is also important when it comes to music venues, and The Continental Club delivers in that regard as well. They offer a variety of payment options, including credit card and cash, making it easy to pay for your drinks and cover charge. They also have a well-stocked bar, with a variety of beers, wines, and spirits to choose from. The cost of the cover charge and drinks at The Continental Club is also reasonable and affordable, especially considering the quality of the music and atmosphere. They offer competitive pricing on all of their products and cover charges, making it easy to enjoy a night of live music without breaking the bank.Overall, The Continental Club is an excellent music venue that offers quality music, atmosphere, and convenience. With their vintage feel, top-notch talent, and competitive pricing, they are a must-visit for anyone in search of a great live music experience. I highly recommend this venue to anyone in the area looking for a night of great music and fun.
I had a great time here last Friday night but unfortunately the fire alarm went off and a security guard intentionally blocked the nearest exit. :( I would give five stars if not for that concerning fire hazard.
Cool spot but the sitting situation is not very good. The 6 good spots to see the band were all reserved, then the band took an hour break after starting to play an hour behind schedule. I wont be coming back.
Havent had the opportunity to try their food so I cant answer that. But the drinks are great. The atmosphere is amazing and the staff is friendly. Definitely a date atmosphere. Live jazz on Thursdays is a plus
The Atmosphere was too DARK & was served drinks in a 1970s pitcher that was like 50lbs. All the extra taxes they add on. Not really the VIP EXPERIENCE WE WERE LOOKING FOR & WONT BE BACK.
So many guys there on a Wednesday night that my girlfriend was uncomfortable. She felt like there were desperate guys trying to get her attention because there wasnt enough girls there. Ratio 8-9 guys per girl. Which made the atmosphere abit stand off-ish. I didnt notice until she wanted to leave but it was true. Not much the venue could do about that on the night but maybe making ladies free before 23:00 and guys pay abit more might help. Its a shame because the drinks and music were fire!
The room is dark and the decor was nice- definitely did not match the crowd and vibes. The drinks were good, not the best but good. The music was a mix of KIISFM and Power106. Crowd was in their early 20s. This place looks nice to book a private party or to have a drink after work.
I recently went there for my birthday! I had an amazing time the vibe and all as well as the DJ was awesome. It was 90s night and everyone who came along to join me had ana amazing time. The reservation was easy to make online the service was great. The server was very polite and brought us our drinks on time. It doesnt get hot the have AC on full blast. All in all will recommend to go to this club!
Beautiful place. $10 cover. Qualified and friendly enough staff. Cocktails are fantastic. Latin night night played Devo one too many times. It started sparse, but began to liven up by the time we left ~11pm. We had a great time. Im sure it stayed popular for the rest of the night.
They lied about their closing time after have me $80 to get in. So I paid for 10 to 15 minutes at best. It is very small space and dont let them fool you there is no dance floor! The biggest thing was the lying and the crazy price for the last 10 minutes
Very very classy joint that smells of mahogany and leather. Wonderful cocktails that are worth sipping slowly and sharing with friends. Also, you cant beat the music. Before the DJ set up, it was all 60s r&b (Ray Charles, Wilson Pickett) over the speakers. As If I needed another reason to like this place. Great for mid to large groups and for special occasions. Not the kind of place you come to every night. Save this one for those who matter.
Love this place! You have to go downstairs in order to access it. Ive been here a few times. Ive only had to pay once (a few weeks ago) because they had an event going on, which was fun. Its a good place to grab a drink and chill but also dance if you feel like it.
Music on Sat night was good, a lot of r&b and some nice 2000s flashbacks thrown in too, great place, very unique location, solid place to have a group outing, music not too loud to have a convo or order a drink, but loud enough to get your dance on, awesome artwork on the walls too. 🤩
Went to an event here and was very impressed by the set up, definitely making another trip back..
NO STARS - Terrible! I felt the heat of how crowded it was just walking down the stairway. Bartender was extrememly rude when I called him out for ignoring the left side of the bar for 15-minutes straight. By that point, I just wanted to leave, but it was so crowded and packed I couldn’t tell where the exit was. I picked a hallway, but apparently, it was the VIP lounge and the bouncer shoved me violently. I’m 5’4 and a petite female. Contrarily, security to get in was extremely lax and nonchalant. Just an overall low quality experience for an afterparty downtown following a Beverly Hills premiere.
The Wednesday night Jazz sessions lured me to this underground bar in DTLA. The music was enjoyable and not too loud to inhibit a conversation. The drinks were a flat $15 each the night I went and very well made. The bartenders were a good balance between attentive and over bearing. The only qualm I have with this bar is that they added an extra $5 to my bill after I tipped in cash (also $5), and zeroed out the tip line. I hope it was an accident, but will update this if it happens again.
Despite a 2-block long power outage, the CC kept its door opened for eager patrons as myself who did not mind sipping in the dark. Their cocktail menu is simple yet elegant and with the trained palate in mind. The bar as others have suggested, does have a private club feel. However, it is quite open. I love the rectangular bar, as it allows for more bar seating and I can see someone and not just bottle across from me - when sitting at the bar.The bartender that night did a great job executing my drinks. Ill always be loyal to The Association, its sister bar - but I like this one just the same.
Nice Vibe and Love the scenery, but there was a moldy stench I couldn’t handle and the Saturday night”no scrubs” DJ was horrible . A glade plug in and new DJ on Saturday would turn this whole thing around.
We went here for part of a bar crawl, its a little stuffy and there is not a ton of open floor space. They played great music and we had a lot of fun.. Drinks are expensive, but that is expected in LA.
Really interesting classy/punk tension in the ambience. Friendly staff, quite good cocktails. Jazz and cupcakes in Thursday nights
Cool spot to hang out, listen to music, dance a bit for no cover charge! One thing is, expect to dish out some money for drinks. I got vodka with sparkling H2o and it was $17 bucks!!! I guess they gotta make their money somehow...Oh, no dress code either.
Cool bar with tasty, stiff craft cocktails on a rotating menu. They have nice candles burning so it smells really nice there. Not 5 stars because there is little seating outside of their bottle service areas. For a cool lounge vibe, it should have some cozy places to sit and relax, but it is standing room only for regular customers.
Beautiful bar. Classic. Wood ceilings.Great jazz on Thursday night. No cover, but drinks are pricey for that reason. My first time here and I enjoyed it.
Cool underground place. Music was okay. I was expecting more Latin music being that we went on a Latin night. Drinks are a bit pricey. But it is a fun place to come with friends and enjoy some dancing.
I often go to this club. Love the music and the people. But this last Friday either the AC was not working or we all were on flames!. Its was extremely hot and uncomfortable. I could see how people were fighting to stay under the vents. Would be nice to have more ventilation. It is an amazing place to spend the time but the AC unit needs an upgrade
One of my favorite stops in Downtown Los Angeles. The vibe is chic and dark and they usually play good hip hop. Craft cocktails are made by friendly bartenders. Seating is usually limited to table service. Gets very busy on weekend nights.
This place was very interesting. Finding it was a lil hard at first but because the speakeasy underground vibes it made it all worth the search. This underground bar drinks are pricey but completely worth the price.
Absolutely exquisite! The jazz band is wonderful! The lighting is lovely. The service from Arielle (sp) was superlative. She was attentive and thoughtful. I shall return next time I am in town.
Great Jazz bat on Thursdsys & other nights different themes. Delicious drinks, great vibe & really good decor over all.
Loved the music and the vibe. There was a lot of people but I was able to dance and have fun. They kept a few chairs by the bar where anyone could sit no VIP required.
A group of friends went on a Friday to celebrate a birthday. If ur girl wears heels expect to be her guide through the many steps along a dark staircase (but if shes rocking sneakers she may be in good shape). The night started good, because the ambiance and crowd showed potential. My first surprise was the well drinks were $14 - yes, WELL. When I ordered the second round I tried calling my vodka but the bartender wasnt able to comply. I do not understand why that was difficult to acomodate. The carpet was stickier than the floor of a movie theater, but nothing that a rental of a Rug Doctor couldnt fix. The photo booth was a + and the DJ had a good selection. When I factor everything I felt it was slightly better than average.
Funtimes the music is great, MC is awesome I even love the bouncers. The place is clean restrooms are nice, bartenders are polite and courteous. Mixed crowd. I always have a good time here
Great spot. The DJ played a mix of old school hip hop and 80s pop? yeah, odd, but it sounded good. The cocktails were good. Will be coming back for sure.
Great bar, super atmosphere. Larry was our bartender. Wonderful man, great drinks.
The space is small and the drinks are probably one of the worst I have had. i ordered a cocktail but I barely tasted any alcohol. And I also tried my friends drinks. Same thing. 3 stars still for the coziness, ideal to mingle and talk with people.
Been here one time, and will never forget! It was so much fun! We are going tonight, as a matter of fact. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a night out doing something different.
They played great music for their 90s hip hop night and a table is only 300. Only thing that was weird was that its extremely dark. Darker than a normal night club. It looks like its lit by candlelight inside
This place was amazing. I went here for a sudamericana event that they have there every month and it was impressive. It doesnt really have a club feel which makes it really nice and the drinks are reasonable and the music is good. DefIntely will come back.
This was our first stop for drinks on our L.A. trip for my friends birthday and it was FANTASTIC! The bartender was very charming and knowledgeable, and the drinks were AMAZING!! This is definitely a place to stop at when visiting L.A.
Funky time capsule of an underground bar. The mixologist is a budding savant. Definitely go for the Keepers ChoiceWe needed an enveloping environment for a night of deep and important conversation. Found this wizened retreat on an off-night and had the place to ourselves. Fantastic!
Clasic place polite clientele and servers
This was one of my favorite spot until security felt entailed…. How does the owner of a club tell you they don’t want something but people can pay you to over override what the owner said ?
Cool underground club! The bar is beautiful but wasnt excited when I found out theyre following the new DTLA theme of serving a lemon drop martini in a small curved edge glass that has nothing to do with the big V shaped glasses that are true martini glasses. Went there for a board game meetup which they cut off by 8:30pm and then lights were turned down and the DJ took over. Didnt stay too long cuz we wanted to hit up Cliftons, where you can never go wrong with the multi levels of bars and different music in each.
A cool basement bar and lounge with a chill atmosphere. We went on a Wednesday for the regularly held jazz night. The staff were friendly and welcoming.
Great DJ, Great Speakeasy Underground Location. And every freaking mellinial taking pictures on their cellphones pretending to be having a great time with no drinks in their hands. Ban cellphones at clubs its getting horrible.
A sneaky little speakeasy that is located right next to Barama, there is literally a nice door and a doorman right next to Barama.Make sure to not wear shorts if your a guy and dress up a bit, we came here on St Pattys day and some of my friends were not allowed in because he wasnt dress properly.I even spoke to the manager of the club since there were only about 4 people inside and wanted to see if he can just let them in a bit but there hella strict! You do feel fancy in this elusive club with its fancy couches and beautifully plastered expensive alcohol on the walls. My favorite drink here is the gordons club with a nice hint of salt and paper and the cucumber brings the lightness!
We came on a night that was very empty so I asked the bartender for a recommendation for a drink based on my preferences and what I was in the mood for. He made something on a whim that was super tasty and exactly what I was looking for. Thanks, The Continental Club ! Youre the best!
Omg my first time been there it was a nice Vibe love it I would definitely come back and a bartender shout out to him he made a Manhattan for me oh my God it was off the chain
Had my birthday here a littleWhile back and this place is great for dancing and drinks and littleMore like a lounge but everyone is dancing and the bar has lots of craft cocktails
Nice place with good music but the clientele is awful. I cant come here without getting rudely pushed around. Its a total vibe killer.
Had a great time! Loved the vibe, music, ambience, and crowd. Excellent drinks!
Cool vibe. Drinks werent the best. But if youre wanting to get trashed vs something that tastes good, then its probably one star more for you.
It’s a great place to have fun in the heart of downtownNice musicGood atmosphere
Dope venue...cell service is horrible and drinks are expensive, but thats everywhere in LA. Other than that great venue. Gives off a speakeasy vibe.
Great events venue! Its a little hard to find if youre not already familiar with the bar but thats kind of intentional. Theyre downstairs underground.
I was here for a meetup but I love the setup of this place. Super cool. Bartenders were nice and professional!
Nice old fashioned Jazz Club with great atmosphere. Super friendly staff. Next Wednesday well be back.
Chill vibes, dark, mysterious entrance, chill people, all kinds of music, reggae, salsa, pop, hip hop, old school rap, indie dance, trap. Decent selection of whiskey
I went yesterday with my friends and we had such a great time, the música was latino :) we danced yo much
Nice vibe. I went before it opened to the public at 10. It was clean and the servers were nice. The bathrooms are cool too.
Ive only been here once, but would go back. They have different types of live music down stairs and have great decor
Low-key kind of bar/lounge with a dj mix to it.
Nice jazz place, drinks were good and staff very friendly. Would definitely go back.
Great vibe with a speak easy feel. Decent drinks despite being incredibly expensive. Find a few times for meetup game nights.
It was a little too dark and crowded for me. But the drinks and music was good!
Great atmosphere, and the drinks aren’t bad either. I would recommend this place for a relaxing drink with friends.
Music was extremely loud and the overly loud bass made songs unrecognizable. Drinks were reasonably priced for the area.
Getting a little too popular for the size of the venue. Its downstairs and the ventilation is bad; a free sauna at the club I guess. Also takes a while to get drinks.
Wonderful jazz music every Monday. The vibe is great, people are nice and the place is cozy.
Omghe make sure to get a table! The DJ had it poppin, great atmosphere, good vibes!
This place has an awesome live band. I love the old jazz decor. Its underground too
Had a blast! Music was too loud though. Woke up without a voice having to yell to talk to my friends.
My friend got kicked out for a false harassment accusation.Security guards did a bad job addressing the situation, the guy looked similar as my friend and my friend was the one who got banned.
Design of it is kind of weird to me, needs an area to dance, not a big square
Great ambiance, fantastic house band, and excellent party with the hypest of hype-men KG Superstar
Been here only once and I loved the setup, is you are ever in the area its worth the visit.
The Sudamerica party they do once a month is great! Very latino mixed and love to dance.
Nice bar ,very nicely lit great workers ...specifically the cleaners they clean so nicely everytime I cone its always clean
Great Music! Also, a very friendly staff.
Way too hot. They don’t turn the AC on in the private seating areas. Not worth it.
Great vibes and good drinks! Definitely reccomend
The coctails are really good. Very carefully crafted. Good jazz music.
Money exchanged for alcohol. Satisfactory on my end for the amount of alcohol I received for the money I paid, for DTLA rates. YMMV.
It was awesome 👌 perfect way to end the year! Loved it!
It was my Birthday weekend I had a blast
Very nice ambiance. Great place for a date night.
The music was perfect. The table service very efficient and the crowd hip
Fun spot to dance, good music, but the floor is carpeted? Odd, and slightly sticky choice.
Fire alarm went off multiple times and was very stuffy not enough air circulation but nice atmosphere.
Cool, is in a basement, drinks were a little pricey, but fun spot.
Nice place with live music. Drinks are also nice but a little on the expensive side.
Loved it.good crowd no cover ,live trumpets its different
Drinks a bit expensive but the location is nice and the music decent
Super dark in there....but great place to chill nd dance
Good atmosphere, music and friendly staff, highly recommended.....
Great cocktails! Great vibes! Amazing times! Ill be back
Manny and Miranda provides excellent service. Good music on Thursdays
Expensive drinks but if you want to go somewhere dark and nice with live jazz, this is the place.
Nice spot cool event I went to
Good music and cool people, the only bad thing is its too small
Really good music. Especially if you like cumbia reggaeton and salsa..
Dopest Jazz club in downtown Los Angeles on a Thursday
I LOVE this place. Great service, friendly staff, and GREAT drinks😆😆😆
Nice joint, super chill place to hang with friends and meet people
Nice place. A bit tricky to find. Drinks are expensive.
Nice bar in the middle. Good music and fun.
Great bar. Drinks and bartenders including Tricia are awesome.
Good Night With My Good Friends; Bar:Ask them to repeat the drink back to you.
Ridiculously good cocktails and great venue + Jazz!!
Cool vibe, friendly service. No actual dance floor.
Expensive cover, long line, cool vibe inside though and good drinks
The music was great. The atmosphere was nice.
Great bartenders, ambience and jazz
Pretty chill atmosphere with a decent menu for drinks.
My spot! Love this place. Especially on jazz Wednesday.
I felt like I walked into an elevator…pure elevator music the entire time I was there.
Great atmosphere and music really enjoy it here
If you are looking for perfect Manhattans then look no further. Great ambiance and great service.
Not a very well stocked bar. Gets crowded and difficult to get around at times.
Totally feels like a 1950s strip club inside with some good drinks.
Played too much drake..lol
Great service, bartender was kind and the bouncer was friendly.
Great spot and pretty good music
Nice place, after another hard day run for beer)
Cool spot easy to miss from the street. The vibe is spot on like this place
Had our post production party here- AMAZING- worked with Farah!!!
Cool club, drinks are pricey, and its pretty dark lighting
Super dark in there....but great place to chill nd dance
15 dollars for a tequila shots that tasted like used white vinegar
Great atmosphere, drink are pricy tho.
It was very trendy and elegant...had a great time
Really cool first time there last night
Enjoyed myself first time there and it was relaxing
Love the C club. Great crowd!
Kind of a creepy entrance but a nice atmosphere.
Poor wine selection, not really happening
Great drinks and great music choice
Probably one of my favorites clubs in Downtown LA.
Really awesome location in DTLA. Very beautiful ambiance.
The place too quiet and not get start until 11pm
Every Wednesday isnundergeound jazz at the red room
Alot of fun when they had the sudamericano event
If youre looking for a place with a classy, retro vibe, this place is for you.
Nice venue, gets too crowded though
Liqueur selections are extremely limited. About 3 beer options as well.
Loved the music and vibe of this place.
Latin night. Super fun. $15 drinks
Very dark, but nice DJ!
Great music and crowd
Stay on line for a while to get in left on 5 min security guard are too pushy
One of my favorite DTLA bars
Very spicy club. Drinks are a bit expensive.
Great free Wednesday night jazz
Weird place. Too dark. Sketchy bouncers. Wont go back
Awesome club, great music!
Great venue for private events.
Cool spot for a date night 🌙
Great VIP and private party secions
If there was no stars I’d give that trust me
Nice club very friendly staff
Secret entrance next to a great pizza place
Great music and drinks
Wednesday night jazz is the Best
No service downstairs for cell phones.
The spot where people go when the lines are too long everywhere else.
Amazing atmosphere!
Nice chill place
Pretty small,but intimate!
Loud and dark, no reception in the basement.
Awesome big dude at the door!!!
Nice spot for a quiet date
Great Jazz on Wednesdays.
