The place was nice it wasnt crowded at 10pm but around 1130 it started getting packed. Good music, good energy def recommend. For passing through wasnt bad we went on a Wed night
I wanted to be proud of this diverse establishment. I wanted to dance there and love it. But instead it seems to cater to gunmen and gangsters. Please shut this business down, or take some drastic measures to improve the situation.
This place is terrible. There have been 3 murders and 7 shooting in the neighborhood by the patrons of this club. Also, there are always broken bottles outside and other kinds of litter around because of this club and noise into the morning from the club-goers shouting and being rowdy.
UPDATE: To the Benard Babot who responded to my review. How is anything I said racist? Did I once mention the color of your skin or even your patrons awful behavior once they leave? No I just shared exactly what happened.I stated facts and despite your pathetic personal attacks its all true. **IF IT WASNT TRUE WHY DID BERNARD FEEL THE NEED TO ATTACK AND CALL ME A LIAR**. Noticed the owner giving himself a review - clearly in the wrong and trying to CYA so the truth about his businesses dont get out - I see your review Benard Babot. The owners clearly dont have a inch of realistic expectations for what they need to do as positive members of their community, if they did they would stop calling people racist and address the real problems in their establishment like lack of cleanliness, trying to host a dance club in a residential neighborhood and instead have enough courage to show up at community meetings.----------------------------------This place is poorly managed - there are rats all behind the bar and I even saw one in the ice machine, drunk patrons spilling out onto the street shooting each other, over aggressive bouncers who arent smart enough to keep guns out of the club an owner who doesnt give a damn about his neighbors and lets his staff leave broken glass all over the street so that people walking their dogs get their paws cut.Nothing good happens here and its SHOCKING that no one has gotten sick and died because of the disgusting ice machine and rat infestation.
This establishment has brought great crime (July 31st, 2023 Murder) to our Bonnycastle neighborhood, and needs to move to a more appropriate part of Louisville to conduct its 3am business. This is not a rave/club community, and we residents want your business gone. We have young children and senior citizens in this neighborhood, that dont need to fear for their lives, every time your doors are open.
We called them on the way to ask them about the prices and they said girls would get in for free and men would pay $20 since we had a huge party including a popular African artist. When we got there, they changed the prices when we were checking in and said everyone was going to have to pay. It is Halloween weekend, no one is gonna be at an Afrobeat a club when there’s Halloween parties going on everywhere. We had a huge party for them ready to pay for drinks and promote the location with the artist that was visiting but they chose pride and disinformation over service. I love my people but afrokanza needs some re-inventing.
Bunch of hoodlums that grew up without fathers that dont know how to act right. Needs to be down past 15th Street not in the Highlands.
The building is filthy the walls are dirty and so is the couches tables and floors it’s really triflin I can only imagine how they kitchen look No tolite paper in the restroom I just Ms can’t get past the walls the floors are sooo sticky my shoe was stuck
Good food great music good vibez it a scene where u would wanna be
I paid 20 dollars to get into here and spent over $100 in alcohol. I went outside for less than 5 minutes and they tried to charge me with another $20 for re entry but they gave me a wrist band. What was the point of the wrist band then?? I won’t be back to this place they are too money hungry. I would have came back in and spend another 40/50 dollars in alcohol so they are really screwing themselves in the end.
It’s midnight on a weekday and like usual your bar is disrespectfully loud! People are trying to sleep and live! Its a weekday so why do you all have to open the big windows and share with the neighborhood how loud you can get! Cant you all do that on a weekend and not a week DAY? People around here are sick of it! Its like the only way to survive out here is to get a third shift job. Been living out here for almost 40 years and it’s never been like this. Its truly sad how people can be so controlling and not care or compromise with others who are getting affected by this!
This place was just on wave3 news about the issues that this place brings! Murders, shootings, assaults and pure chaos!
Brought back memories from my college days. Nice African music vibes. And beautiful women everywhere. Guys clean cut and in suit jackets. Someone in a vip booth had to have ordered about 10 bottles while I visited which was a period of about. 2 hours. . . Nice place. Music was a bit too loud though. Maybe thats for the younger people. But the feeling is one everyone can appreciate. My ears are still ringing from Saturday!!
The food from Jessie eats is soooo good it’s the only reason I come because the music is so loud. The back patio needs some work.
Says they open at 5, but nothing was set up. We just came for food but never got greeted, never shown a menu or offered anything to drink. Didn’t even get acknowledged by the 2 workers once we sat down. So we got up and left. Place was still a mess, smelled bad… Number on the website/IG page doesn’t work.
I had been eagerly waiting for the opening of this venue for months. I attended the soft opening, and the appearance inside did not disappoint! Very nice look, with glowing tables and cool lighting throughout, along with a neat DJ booth and bar. The afrobeats music was creating the vibe that I had been wanting for so long. However the high prices were a problem. During the night, I ordered two Makers Mark with cokes - there was no ginger ale- and was charged two different prices totalling over $20. The bar tender charged $3 more than the waitress, who was friendly and attentive but scantily clad. For a locale that seems to be going for a cool and classy vibe, having staff dressed in what amounted to lingerie with hosiery and very little attire was incongruent. I saw more cheeks and spilling flesh than Ive seen since my last visit to a strip club. I planned on returning for the grand opening the following week but the surprising $30 per person cover charge was ridiculous. This is Louisville, not Atlanta! I hope management reconsiders some of their decisions soon, otherwise I fear they will be out of business before long because many in their market will be unable to afford to visit except for the infrequent special occasion. So much promise unfulfilled!
Great place, great food, great atmosphere and wonderful service
Music was so loud we left the establishment 2 doors down. Beautiful night on bardstown road but they were too selfish to consider their neighbors and local businesses.
Was stopping by for just a quick drink and the staff was very friendly and made great conversation. The atmosphere was sophisticated yet cheery. The drink were amazing and very smooth. I didn’t try the food because it was a quick stop but we will be back to stay longer!! 10/10 would recommend
Very bad place if you want to out and enjoy with your friends this is not good place for you.1. They fight every time I went there and they kick everyone out, so look they let you come in you buy drink or food before even you start eat or drink they said everyone should go out and they said you can’t even take your drink home this just happened last Sunday.2. You pay to come in but they don’t allow you to sit down on their chairs you have to buy very expensive drinks to sit to down and drink which sells $70 they want you pay $300 this is ridiculous.3. Music is loud4. If you are not their friend sometimes late night they will not allow you to go in this will tell you that they reached maximum number in side .This place should be closed.
Beautiful club music was okay but he could mix it up a little bit hookah was great but to pricey food was trash very nasty customer service wasn’t bad friendly girls I been in there 4 times and every time I been in there the owner and his wife is sitting around laughing and talking terrible. Liquor is ridiculous high $13 for Ciroc to much beer is $10 they want you to pay for sections to sit. place is way to high and they need a new cook
Great place to be indeed! Good vibes, good music and good food. Heading there tonight. Been there from day one! Thank you for a place to go to when nostalgia kicks in.
Something Louisville has needed for decades. I was born and semi-raised there but have lived around the world three times over. Its nice to come home and be able to have somewhere to go that reminds you of all your travels. I dont come home often but when I do this will always be one of my stops.
The bass is WAY TOO LOUD. It travels all the way down the street and makes it impossible for residents of the neighborhood to get any sleep. I cannot escape the sounds of this place. Please be more respectful of your neighbors.
I love the crowd and music by the way I love dancing to it as well. Thanks peoples for bringing something to Louisville KY that I can dance at 🙏
I am very proud of the management team. Everything looks good and adjustments will be made as they go along. This is new and management will make corrections as they go along. Hey, folks! Just be patient and Everything will be very fine soon.
Its not comfortable for western Africans who been america a long time so we dont fit in with our other African brother and sisters and it has a hostile feeling
Great music and drinks! Servers are awesome! Cleanest bar in Louisville!
Have not been here yet, but will be there soon. Heard the music and food is great.
They don’t care about their neighbors… loud music blaring at all hours.Edit to their response: it’s not the loudness towards bardstown rd. It the loudness on the back patio.
🤝❤❤❤❤❤❤🙏Afrokanza is where you can enjoy good food, all kinds of drinks and good vibes. The owner and his employees are lovely and humble.
The music mixed with the gorgeous women is an awesome atmosphere. Dont miss out
