Visiting my boyfriends best friends in Kentucky. We went out bar hopping, and this is where we ended the night. This place was very fun we danced the night away I had a couple of dance offs and I told the dj that it was my birthday so I could get some say on the songs being played😉 only thing that did suck was the restroom situation 😒 I hate waiting in long lines but that just comes with the night life activities everything is a long line including waiting at the bar to. Cover was 10dollars cash only there is a ATM inside. I am not sure about the food 🤔 I didnt see anyone eating either so couldnt say anything about the quality of it.
I love going here but it’s so freaking hot. To the point that it’s not enjoyable. If they had better air conditioning I’d probably go there more often.
I came in and had 1drink. I parked in the parking lot in the back attached to the bar with the sign that said for customers. In less than an hour I was towed by Dave’s Towing company, which found out later isn’t even the towing service for that area. I was told LMPD towing or Suburban towing were the only places to tow from there. It was $160 for the towing fee and as I left 4 other vehicles were getting towed from the same lot. It’s a scam! I work in the area and it’s a shame that this kind of racketeering happens. Karma. Never again.
Wayyyy tooo expensive. But nice place to chill. Great Music
Wow what a place. Great food. Live music. And a dance floor where people actually love. Great location. Believe it or not there is actually parking very often on Bardstown. Was there on a Saturday night and partook of tacos. Came in the next day and bartender extraordinaire Jeremy hooked me up with a hair of the dog. Great local stout, and fish Tacos and Brisket Tacos, courtesy of Chef Chicago. The Chef even came out and greeted me. Baxter’s places a premium on real diversity (people interact), a variety of entertainment, and personal touches. I am new to Louisville but this is one of the best places I have discovered.
Good music and pretty popular on the weekends; very strict about rules of exiting and re-entry so keep it in mind. $10 entrance fee, smoking area/patio out back.
The drinks are extremely watered down, the bartenders pour 4 drinks at a time before they even give you yours. There’s no music playing outside. The dj plays music from 10 years ago. Overall not the vibe.
Baxter’s should be called bastard’s, that’s what management really portray. Why would this establishment promote an 18 and up Open Mic party then literally have security walk around, pointing kids out hollering about “you gotta leave”. GTFOH. The manager knows the law, failed to communicate and tried to be passive aggressive and capitalize on our kids.I hate to be the more aggressive parent that raises hell and put management in their place but tonight; it prevailed.I DO NOT PLAY WHEN IT COMES TO DISRESPECT. THIS PLACE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT “THEY” WERE DOING! NOT TONIGHT!
Ive not been out in about 7 years. I was surrounded by college age kids, and a few adults. It was a Saturday night. . . The crowd was thick. And the women; young and foolish if I must say. . . Lots of young people drinking and trying to impress each other. . . Have mercy. . . I like the drinks!!! The menu before it gets later in the night is decent. In the past I went on Wednesdays. . . But phoenix Hill was still alive in those days.
Love it... great drinks Friendly staff..
Excellent live music venue! These folks always have great bands playing, it’s one of the only places still having live bands play consistently. I was also very impressed by their security team. Very polite but firm, it’s a great place to have drinks and dig on live music!
We did not like this place at all! The cover charge was too high, too crowded and the security team was extremely aggressive. I wont be going back.
Worst bar ever they dont care about you they treat you with no respect
My friend turned 21 tonight and had a valid ID, the temporary license he was issued earlier that day when updating it, and was told he looked too young to get in. When we said to scan the ID the bouncer refused to scan it, and when asked again he threatened to take it. Take his ID that was also his current Drivers license. Since we needed that for the rest of his big night, we left, but a crime was almost committed due to a bouncer being too lazy to scan an ID and wanting to go on an ego trip.
We went there last night for new years eve and we was only in there for about 10 minutes and then they told my cousin he had to leave cause he was band it cost 60 to get in there and didnt even give us are money Im really passed off about it cause if he was band why would they take my cousins money at the door why didnt they tell him he was band at the door I will not be going back there cause its always a problem with black people there
Food is exceptional, environment is solid for a good time. Make sure to count your change that is given back to you after paying for drinks/food. I was short changed twice now, Ive been going to this place now for nearly 12 years and it was by the same person. first time I was drinking, this go round I was sober. She was cought and called out first time. Second time nothing needed to be said. Just beware, maybe they expect most people that are drinking & having fun with friends to not pay attention. Makes you think though....
This place is racist. And they buy fake fraud 5 star reviews from websites. Most of the good reviews are fake. They use their dress code to stop black people from going inside the bar late at night. I had on a Rock Revival shirt and pants. I was told told that i could not go inside by the bouncers. They said their boss does not want anyone inside with the color silver on their shirts. I called the bar the very next day and talked to a manager. She told me what the dress code is. I didnt violate their dress code at all. She said he should of let me in. Those bouncers and the owner of the bar is racist. They make up all kinds of fake dress code rules for black people. They are trying to keep as many black people as possible out of that bar at night. There are tons of one star reviews talking about how racist they are. This is a on going problem. They been doing this for a couple years now. They wont stop doing this until they are sued. I was told by a guy that works at the news station that we got to get them on video denying black people and letting white people go in wearing the same exact clothes. Then after you get the footage, hire a attorney and sue them.
Loved it, Loved it, Loved it. I just wanted to go out for a quick bite, didnt feel like cookin😏. The food was great had their amazing fish tacos, seasoned house fries, and coleslaw. Plus, I got there before HAPPY HOUR was over😊! Great Food. Great Drinks. Even Greater Service, shout to the cook, and Alexa.
If you like to go somewhere where fights break out (an all out brawl) then Baxters is for you. However if you are a decent hardworking citizen who expects a peaceful evening out I suggest you spend your money elsewhere.
The live band karaoke is awesome! Great atmosphere, not from this state and felt welcomed immediately. HUGE place for being in down town. Way more room inside than you think. Pool table and courtyard in the back. Really awesome place, must see.
Music is the worst. They play the same 2000-2005 songs no matter what dj is there. Haven’t heard a new song there in years. I could never be drunk enough to enjoy this place. Please stop giving these ppl your money.
$5 cover for standard priced drinks and pretty obnoxious karaoke on a Wednesday. Not the worst place but wont plan on going again since there are lots of more fun/young places with better drink deals. Also have heard from lots of people about the rumors of racism/sexism/homophobia- Didnt experience it on the one night I went, but I definitely dont doubt the stories and I dont want to support a business like that. But hey if youre a bigot and love karaoke this might be the place for you!
Really fun place to hang with your friends. Usually packed and the music is good. Bartenders are quick and its clean.Only issue is the bouncers and doormen are very rude.EDIT: Last few times Ive been have been worse than normal. Crowd is dying down.
This bar has usually been fun. However, I had a terrible experience with the security staff. Three of the male staff members said horrifying misogynistic degrading things about to women to my friend. They then threw a drink in our faces in their Baxters uniforms, after we tried to stand up for ourselves and other women. They continued to execute gender based hate speech. I am very displeased that this establishment entrusts incels with the safety of their patrons.
I like the multiple bars, and the bartenders make really decent drinks. I will say I think the dance floor is positioned kind of awkward, so its hard to pull your friend on the dance floor which makes it so nobody really jumps up to dance much. But its a cool bar to have conversations with your friends.
Rolled through on a Friday night and they werent allowing any new people in. The bar wasnt closing until 4am and roughly 25ppl walked out in front of us yet the 6 of us were denied. Disappointed in a local establishment denying access when folks are finally in town visiting after such a rough year. While I respect the business, they should reconsider the policies when it appeared they were making personal decisions on a case by case basis.
The music was great and the drinks were strong. The employees were very nice. Its a clean place, but parking can be a challenge.
This place is amazing. Great FOOD. The Chef really loves his job. And it showes in the food. They had a band playing last night Audio Addiction that kicked butt. Great service. And a real cool laid back Pub.
Baxters is a very chill environment. They sometimes play good music. That would probably be my only complaint is its not always the best music to dance to. It is also on the smaller side for a bar so it gets packed very easily especially on the dance floor.
Literally male employees peeking in the bathroom opening doors before any females came in, my friend has medical issues and they were so disrespectful calling out names outside the bathroom, calling her diarrhea girl telling her to pinch it off when she has IBS. Clapped as she got out for staying 5 minutes after closing because of said issued. We were nothing but compliant and polite but theres nothing you can do when issues like that come. we are all human but no man should enter a woman’s bathroom harassing us calling out disrespectful names. Thinking we were all drunk entering a bathroom is not a smart choice when we know the laws. Would give 0 stars if i could.
My group of friends and I have been regulars here for years now. We love Fridays with the no cover and $2 wells happy hour. I would love to give them 5 stars but they have the rudest, most unfriendly, hateful bouncers/security ever. They’re just always nasty no matter what, even when asking a simple question or needing legit help with something. It won’t stop me from coming back, but I wish the owners would talk to the bouncers about their nasty attitudes.
The staff is kinda and fast. Very courteous and professional. Security does a very nice job of handling any altercation immediately and pays attention to detail all night. The barback works very hard to make sure the bartenders can work smoothly to handle the big crowd easily at all times. Always see staf emptying trash and ensuring a smooth environment for fun. Entertainment varies but the sound system is great and the overall ambiance is welcoming. Live bands sound really great here.
Not the best not the worst. The food is ok at best. Id suggest eating before coming for any band or late night fun. Server was great and very attentive. The place was clean and they cater to a diverse clientele. Skip the mixed drinks they over priced for the quality. Stick with beer enjoy the music and youll have a good time
The security guards are so aggressive, disrespectful and unkind to women. Do not give this bar your money or your time.
This place was AMAZING!! We was looking for a place with a live band & good food & we got FANTASTIC FISH & BRISKET TACOS & the band was GREAT. A/O out of Nashville. The Chef from Chicago came out & introduce himself & the drinks was good. We TOTALLY will be back again..
Worst treatment by staff I have ever experienced from a bar establishment. Our friend who had too much to drink, was nursing herself at a table sipping some water. While we sat with her attentively and finished our drinks. Half of our party was using the restroom when the head bouncer informed us that he was kicking her out. We explained that we will all be leaving as soon as the rest of our party returns, that way we all leave together and not get separated. Well that wasnt good enough for Mr. Clean and way to old to be making his living bouncing at a bar. We were told to leave immediately. I have frequented some shady low down establishments in my day, but whenever a customer had to much to drink, the bar always tried their best to work with people and see them home safely. This guy didnt care if we just tossed her out on the street. He was a being a real class act, so I thought I would return the favor and educate him on many of Kentuckys fine establishment laws concerning the inebriated having minored in law myself, since he was so ill informed. He even called all of his bouncer buddies over to share in the discussion. I had stalled for enough time to allow for the rest of our party to return and all of us receive a grand escort outside. The best part was when our friend who we had to rush out of the bar disoriented and confused, vomited all over the dance floor. One star is too good for Baxters.
Love it here, two bands and a DJ in the same night from 8ish till close. Dont know of two many venues that have that. I work as a DJ so I try to reserve my review for something worth reporting. Likely you will like this place of you like my review.
The best. Very unique dishes. The head chef came out to meet and greet. Live music on a Friday night. Great food. Pepper jack mac n chez😋. So yummy
We had a great time at the bar with Chris last Saturday. Good times and good drinks.
Read the lower star reviews, theyre all accurate. Place was a lot of fun. Service is quick. Drinks are priced fairly. But, theyll kick you out without warning.
Saving grace of this bar is it had Rangtang and the bartenders were super friendly and helpful. Have to say though be prepared because this place gets crowded. Bathrooms were also basically a war zone so be prepared for that. Also Im from Orlando and having to pay cover to go and spend money at the bar is kind of bull... that extra 5 could have gone as tip to staff or another drink...
The various rooms at Baxters is what I love about this place. Live music in the front, pool in the back, nice patio, and another more quiet room to hangout. Every room has its own bar, so you never really wait for drinks.
Fun place to hang out, but the service was lacking. It took a long time just to get a drink. Youre not even allowed to walk up to the bar and get a drink, which even today, is pretty ridiculous. Should probably have more wait staff.
Fun place. Walking distance to several other bars and eateries. There arent a whole lot of tables so plan on standing some. Arriving early, like 9-10pm, can sometimes allow you to avoid the cover charge.
Very racist towards black people. Me and my friends went for a night on the town, they told us at the door my dress was too short and the bouncers jumped my friends boyfriend. I would never recommend a person of color go there! We are not from any ghettos and we just wanted a drink.
Excellent bar and restaurant... the food is absolutely on point for what is needed in the Highlands, great menu with variety. Also, few places in the metro area do barbecue well and this one is a must try. For a night scene, great atmosphere with excellent staffing and booking sets Baxters apart. Best in class.
This place used to be a decent bar on Wednesday. Now its a bit creepy. The bouncers also arent friendly to the LGBTQ crowd, I have had friends that have had bad experiences there.
This is the worst bar Ive been to in Louisville. The drinks are weak, the food sucks, and the service is terrible. The bouncers are the worst part, the kick people out for no apparent reason and turn people away because they sagg when they dont want you to come in. Go to the many other bars right around there.
My friend got sick here and the guy security kept opening the door to the womens restroom and yelling at us that we needed to go 3 minutea past closing timeKept calling my friend diarrhea and clapped as she walked out of the bathroom.Dont come here they dont understand and they dont care anything customers.
The brisket tacos were very delicious. The brisket was smokey and full of flavor. My husband raved about his fish tacos. We received fast, super friendly service on a Sunday afternoon.
I am a transplant to Louisville so I came across this bar randomly and it was solid. Good crowd. Theres several different areas within the bar that all have different vibes. Dance or chat or play pool etc. the reason I left a star off was as I felt demeaned for a specific event. Somewhere along the night I lost my drivers license inside this bar. I did not notice this until the bar closed. I knocked on the main door and one of he bartenders did search forMy ID and he did not find it. Which i did appreciate but because I did not go anywhere else that evening I knew it had to be in this bar somewhere.numerous times I asked I could look myself as I would have a better memory for where I stood but was repeatedly denied. I emphasized that this was the only Place I had been so there was a high likelyhood of it being there. I do accept that Losing an ID is my responsibility, but do not expect them to allow u to find your license.
Came on a Saturday during a bar hop. The hop stopped here. We spent three hours hanging out with the bartender and Chef. Mike and Chicago made my whole vacation. I really had the best time here. Best nachos this side of the Mississippi, no matter which direction youre coming from. Mikes people talents are wasted at his full time job. Hes the peoples bartender, and you can only get him Saturday.
One of the most popular bars in the highlands. Doesnt really get buzy until after 11pm. Drink prices arent anything special. They do serve food pretty late.
One of my favorites to visit over the weekend. Usually has a cover charge but never a bad vibe in the atmosphere. 3 bars. 1 pool table. And a dance floor.
Baxters is a fun, energetic and lively bar that is much needed in this area of town. As a female, I have never felt unsafe or uncomfortable at this establishment. The food is outstanding and the bartenders and management have always been overly courteous. I love the fact that they always bring in live entertainment and try to push the envelope with new ideas to bring people back through the doors. For both locals and out of towners, I would highly recommend coming in and enjoying a night out at Baxters! You will NOT be disappointed.
Good place for nightlife but Everytime I go and use my credit cards the bartender(s) add a tip for themselves. Youll think you spend 13 dollars on drinks and itll turn to 25 everytime. Dont trust them with my money
3 times now I have seen the bouncers be incredibly disrespectful. Maybe it was a coincidence that all three times it was towards my friends of color, but when I asked the police officer politely why are they so racist? The bouncer immediately starts yelling at me and telling me that my friend couldnt come in because he was slurring too much... he barely spoke english, mind you. I gave this place 3 chances, its just not worth it.
Absolutely a delight.. the service was above and beyond. Chef delivered the food, told him we ordered the burgers with bacon... no biggie, we werent charged and food was really good... 2 bites in.. 2 slices of fresh bacon coming to the table.. above and beyond. Will be back. Thank you!
Absolutely fantastic experience. Great service, including the waiter being very personable and the cook coming out to ensure we were happy with our food. And the food was fantastic as well. 10/10 would eat here again.
Always a solid decision. If your other plans fail, theres always a crowd here and its big, so its usually not uncomfortably crowded. It attracts lots of different crowds and has a solid dance floor, but when it gets too loud for you, theres other sections of the bar that are far from the music. Youll never have a bad time at Baxters.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this bar! Everything about it is exceptional! The food is amazing, the drinks are top notch, the service is incredible, and no other bar in Louisville can top the LIVE entertainment that Baxters 942 brings in! I highly recommend!
Live music or DJ most nights. Its a little loud and a bit clubby but when thats what your in the mood for its a great place. Its a big space so they also have games in the back which can be nice if your looking for something a bit more relaxed.
This place is my favorite as they play my favorite kinda music. They have cover charges on Friday ($5) and Saturday ($20) drinks are regular priced as per the area. $5 beers. Crowd is bit rowdy here.
I had the brisket at the recommendation of the chef. It was delicious. Bartender was very friendly and we watched jeopardy on an otherwise boring Tuesday night. I would definitely go back
I couldn’t dislike this place more. My interaction with staff and patrons was off putting. It tries to enforce rules that seem easily broken, and some if the clientele is less than appealing to be around. Not my cup of tea and won’t be back.
Friendly bar tenders and decent drink price specials. Decent size inside area along with multiple tables outside. Never tried the food.
I guess its just not my type of environment but the people who are drawn to this place seem judgemental and stuck up. Ive been here several times for different occasions and I see some pretty bizzare things. A group of guys were grabbing womens butts until they were removed by security. A guy beat up a gay man for looking at him. Ive also heard several stories of girls drinks getting drugged here. It is kind of a sketchy place. The live music sucks and the drinks are really watered down. Youd be better off spending your money elsewhere.
Their menu is overpriced, and the management routinely hires people from Amazon MTURK, to post fake positive reviews on Google and Yelp -- so keep that in mind when reading any positive reviews of this place. They also discriminate against black and Latino patrons! Im white, but when I recently went to a concert there with a fellow paralegal from work (hes African-American) --the bouncer hassled him for having his dress shirt untucked! This happened right after the very same bouncer allowed me entry despite the fact I was also wearing an identical untucked dress shirt. It wasnt until I stepped in and explained we had come together that the bouncer allowed him entry, but as we were leaving we saw a similar thing happen to a Latino man trying to enter the venue -- the bouncer told him they didnt allow patrons to wear white socks! This despite the fact that half of the people in this venue had white socks on!It seems to me theyre using this dress code selectively, as a way to keep out people of certain ethnicities.
Went with a large group Friday, the staff targeted our African American friend and taunted him the whole evening. He then used personal insults against another female while he called him out for his blatant racism. The male bouncer with the long beard has a vendetta against African Americans, the. While I was complaining of this mistreatment to the bar staff, they told me to watch my mouth, so after being threatened by the entire staff of this establishment I will never return, lost our business as well as the business from my friends. I’ve seen a massive decline in turnouts from January til October, now I understand why. Smh this is sad. 2018 and this bar still wants to run a segregated establishment.
Was racially profiled. Said we could not come in because my husbands shoes were untied. When we asked could we step to the side and tie them, security said hes not allowed at all to give us entrance because he came up to him without the shoes tied. A night out, that we never get with each other because we dont usually have babysitters, was ruined. Another reason why we want to leave Louisville.
If it wasnt to see our favorite entertainment performing here we would of gotten up and walked out! ordered a drink and the watriss disappear! went to the bar to order food they said they would get the order out to us 30 min later went back to bar to see what the hold up was they said the waitress never came over? so after 30 min our order was never placed took 15 more min to get the food that in opinion is a rip off on there prices!
Baxters 942 is AWESOME!! We had a child battling cancer and the owner (Nick) got with the radio station and has done several benefit concerts to help out our little girl during our familys time of need. I cannot express how much Nick and all the bar employees mean to our family. Addies Army loves Baxters 942 Bar and Grill and especially adore Nick for his big heart. If you want to have a good time and listen to great music; THIS IS THE BEST STOP TO MAKE IN LOUISVILLE, KY!!AND.... the food is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great bar, but limited selection of food. Had some beers, a couple whisky sours and some fried pickles. Everything we had was great and the service was wicked fast and friendly.
This establishment does not even deserve one star. 0/10 - I will not give Baxters a dime nor even a penny of my hard earned money. I have seen this place racially discrimate one too many times. If you are African American they will not let you in. There might as well be a sign on the door that says, whites only. My boyfriend and two friends of ours went to Baxters last Saturday and was denied at the door. My friend who is African American was told that he could not come in because he was sagging. My friend had on an American Eagle outfit and A BELT!! This was not the first time that I witnessed Baxters deny African Americans for no reason at all. They like to use the dress code excuse. I have seen African Americans get denied with suits and ties. Not only do they racially discriminate but their music is outdated and the drinks are watered down. If you are looking for a fun filled night on the town, STAY AWAY FROM BAXTERS.
Y’all’s OLD light skin bartender that works nights kicked me and my friend out for no reason because she’s insecure. And she don’t know how to do her hair.
Those boys are always working to improve their already beautiful building. Its a great music venue and brings in incredible artists, has fantastic BBQ, and is a great early evening spot to hit with a girlfriend and people watch on Baxter Ave.
Dont wanna sound like another targetedblack man here but their dress code is ridiculous so I just completely stopped wearing jeans. Other than that, its a decent time. There may not be anything racial about it, but it rubs people the wrong way. I can understand insuring a safe and presentable croud but it has not been a good look for Baxters for years. Not saying I wont be back, just giving an honest review.
If your looking for the crowd, look no further! Food, drinks, all walks of people. Easy hangout spot.
The nightlife ar Baxters is great. Its a pretty popular spot for locals to go to listen to music, dance, and of course have a few drinks. They have a DJ playing music most nights but they also do have live performances and small concerts. I recently went to a Chase Rice and Kane Brown concert there.
Good drinks and dancing. When they say they close at 4 they actually mean 335 cause thats when the lights came on and we were ushered out. Good time before bouncers took RoboCop mode...
You want to be offended? GO HERE. This place is terrible. They are offensive and bait patrons to try and start a fight. DO NOT GO HERE
Bouncers look to pick a fight. They will push you for no reason. I walked outside to talk on the phone for 10 seconds, never left within 5 feet of security and he wouldnt let me back in. Iv been pushed off stage, put in a headlock, dragged out by my neck, and more all for no reason. When you try and talk to them they will ignore you then the second you say something smart about them ignoring you, you get kicked out. Just an all around terrible team of security and I would love to see them all get their asses kicked.
The guys at the door are the mostly friend list souls Ive ever meet as a man of mixed race..they are such sweethearts..the older bald guy is so sweet and sexy...I just wanna hug them so hard.
Ruby MartinezTheir security is on a bad power trip! At first they wouldnt let part of our group in because he had an authenticity sticker on his hat. Then, we are out on the patio, and another rent-a-cop closes the doors and tells us the place is closed and we have to exit out of the back. We had to walk through a dark alley to get to the front and meet the rest of our group. They think they are some type of special secret service when they are actually NOTHING but Adidas-wearing douchebags with security stamped on their backs.
Maybe midnight on a Saturday night is too early but when I went here they tried to make it like a club environment and there just wasnt enough people. If you want a club like environment just go to Osheas a block down the road.
Extremely Racist Staff!! I was turned around at the door because the bouncer claimed that my Medium sized shirt was too long. I then stood and observed yhe same security gaurd let 3 people in with longer shirts less than 30 seconds before I was denied. Smh. How has this place not been sued yet??
Baxters 942 is always a blast! They have delicious BBQ and a great atmosphere! The brisket tacos and fish tacos are must haves! I always have a hard time deciding between the two. They have great DJs and awesome bands coming through all the time. If youre not wanting to hear a lot of music and need a more chill night, theres several other rooms you can hang out in like the sports bar area. You can make whatever kind of night you want to at Baxters. Highly recommended!!!
Last night I withenssed rascism first hand. Me and my friends were about to go to baxters when the security guard checked for my I.D. and then asked me to lift up my shirt. Which I was ok with because I thought he was checking to see if I had any weapons. But then he told me that he couldnt let me in because my pants were barely below my waist. Even though i had on a belt and some basketball shorts underneath. And even after I pulled them up right in front of his face, he still wouldnt let me in. If this is how you treat your customers who are willing to pay to get into your establishment and have fun, you wont stay in business for long.
The food and the drinks here are freaking amazing...I had to very picky eaters with me and they for once didnt complain. In fact she even brought her husband back the next day...If I could give them a higher rating I would.
The bar has a silly no bucket hat policy... Let me repeat... You can wear any type of hat backwards forward but not bucket hats. How silly and ridiculous is that. That bouncers are a bunch of unintelligible morons that couldnt pass the entrance exam to a kindergarten special ed class. Very hard to grasp to out of townees who can tell the difference between dont wear your hat in the bar (which I complied) and tried to wear the hat in the back outside in the lot smoking area (which I put my hat on because i did not want to get a head cold) which by some incredible logic is still considered inside the bar. No management to speak to there... just moron security duck dynasty inbreeds. As an earlier patron commented THEY DISCRIMINATE AGAINST BLACKS THERE. NO PLACE IN AMERICA IN THIS DAY AND AGE.
Ive visited Baxters 942 now on just about every day of the week and time of the day within their business hours, and can attest to the constants of a clean environment, delicious food (the brisket tacos are INSANE), and courteous staff. Ive never had a poor experience with the staff, but then again, Ive worked in the industry and have the capacity to comprehend that these people are here to make me a drink (with some element of pleasantries) and not stroke my alcohol-inflated ego while making 8 other peoples cocktails. That may be a factor. When I go out, I look for a place where I feel safe, can enjoy live entertainment, and where my shoes dont stick to the floor, haha, and Baxters offers all of these things, and more.LOL @ run by mobsters.
The food is second only to my Pop-a-shot high score!!! Great drink specials away from the 4th street scene. A must stop every time Im in Louisville.
Weekends is busy, it can be fun. The bar has a couple different sections that you can hang out in depending on if youd rather dance or just hang
Only had 3 drinks, bartender skipped over me 3 times. When I said something about getting skipped the bartender called security on us and got us kicked out for no reason I will never be back worst service I have ever had
Only been to Baxter’s once, but I can say I won’t be returning. My second attempt in going, my friend and I were turned down because my friend was wearing black joggers. Not even 3 minutes later 3 guys were let inside, one wearing gray joggers and sneakers. The only difference betweeen my friend and the 3 guys....my friend was black and those guys were white. The man that checks ID’s at the door with the beard is racist, and this is one of many instances where my friends have been turned down for similar reasons.
I loved this place until tonight they kicked me and my friend out for being too drunk but we literally only had two beers here and were not drink at all.
Baxters has been a favorite hang out since they opened a few years ago. From bachelorette parties to live music to game day with friends, Baxters has it all. Their chef delivers great menu options and service from the staff never disappoints. If youre in to supporting the community, Baxters regularly brings in great bands to which proceeds are donated. All in all, whether you live in Louisville or are just passing through, put Baxters on your list of places to visit!
I have been to Baxter’s twice, and each time they have charged my card TWICE. And not the correct amount. After tipping I spent $30. I currently have two $25 charges to my account. And this is exactly what happened the first time I went. If you go take cash because they WILL rip you off.
Theyre racist and profile black people. Kicked my husband out randomly, they said the reason my husband had to leave was because of sagging but he had a belt on and his underwear was not visible unless he raised up his shirt. (Only the elastic band shows on his small frame when he lifts his shirt). They had let him in prior wearing the same thing. This isnt the first time this has happened to him in this area.
Me and my family really enjoyed our self last night great atmosphere great drinks good energy ,💃🏾🕺
Horrible. They have a dress code designed to discretely discriminate against black ppl. Was not allowed in because my sister had on a jersey. They dont deserve to be open.
Great place and atmosphere of people to be around! Even the bar tenders are even cool to convo wit!! Thumbs up!!!.
We had a large group of people and the group felt super welcomed and very well taken care of. Thanks especially to our lady bartender Lars Ulrich. Haha.
Amazing brisket tacos! Amazing sausage sampler! Awesome pulled pork sandwiches! Manager is an amazing guy! Service is excellent! A must do in Louisville!
Fantastic service, great drink prices, and the space is perfect for an afternoon happy hour or a late night party! Fav spot in Louisville!
At 1:30am on the 2nd of November I attempted to go here and was told that the main entrance wasnt an entrance at all so naturally I asked is it in the back and the tall white mean man said nope.... And stared at me silently. Discrimination against transgenders....
Racist staff. The bouncer at the door wouldn’t let my friend in because his “pants were too low”. We then gave my friend a belt and went back to the door. The guy looked at my friends waist and still said no because it wasn’t his own belt. Will not be returning to this bar after that experience and reading that countless people have had the same problem here.
Had a good time. The live band was good and the music was not to loud to still hold a conversation. The bar tenders were prompt .
After being at the bar at 1pm with receipts stayed there for 4 hours and left bar for 10 minutes came back wouldnt let me back in told me even with receipts would charge me 10 dollars per person to get back in. they pulled me rudely by my purse out of the bar when trying to enter. they knew that i knew the bartender but didnt care about our $200 receipt. Terrible customer service wouldnt recommend. Wont be going back there.
I spent $25 on an Uber to get to Baxter’s tonight and they wouldn’t let my friend in. The guys at the front are extremely rude and racist. I’ve heard of the racial issues this place has had & I never believed it, but we tested that tonight. They let me RIGHT in and I was “sagging” worse than my black friend was. I will make sure me or any of my friends spend a dime here again.
What the hell are these $25 charges when I’ve paid in cash and signed after each drink?! Overcharged. I need to call to get this corrected! This is the second time this has happened. I know damn well one drink is not $25.
Visited while out of town. The atmosphere was awesome, cheap drinks and a great Dj.
Love this place! Great music, friendly staff! Perfect place for a birthday celebration or just a fun night out on the town! Absolute Louisville must!
I wear a blue collar and tie to work every day of my life, and to be profiled like Im a felon should be a disgrace!!! Not to mentioned Id already been in the bar 2 or 3 times and spent a ton of MY HARD EARNED time and money there!
Anytime I walk into a bar that is mostly dead with the exception of a large table full of English people while four guys sit at the bar wearing dinosaur costumes and hang out with the lady in a house coat with rubber duckies and have a waitress that looks like my wifes friend from preschool bring me bourbon, I instantly fall in love with the place.
First time at a bar and wasnt allowed in because of the type of shoes I was wearing. Basketball shoes! Didnt realize that places were being this petty! Will not come back to Bardstown Rd again because of this place.
Who says Wednesday night is lame? Ripped it up at Baxters 942 with some full contact karaoke! House band is killer! Great place.
This place has outstanding food. The pulled pork is to die for. I highly recommend this place. Live music. Great atmosphere. Love it.
It was great. My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves. The music was fantastic and very age appropriate for the crowd.
Great place! Music is a blast and is usually pretty packed. Pool is fun and the basketball area is also.
The DJ who was playing on 1/22 was terrible. Read the room! No one wants to hear spice girls and techno! They were also rude and cut me off before I could even request anything!
If you racists and straight this is the place for you !!! Don’t expect to see anyone of color or openly gay in this bar. Trust me the rude bouncer has dismissed them at the door right along with the rude lmpd officers that watch!!! I will be building up a case to sue them don’t worry !!!!! Just terrible !!!
I love baxters! My favorite person there is Jessa! I always feel safe there and she takes care of us for sure! Jessa deserves a raise! Will be back again soon!
Always a good time! The bartenders are super hard working and the music is always legit! A local fun factory!
I went for the Kevfest 2017 Benefit. Id never been to Baxters before & they did a tremendous job accommodating all the bands & patrons!
This place has a nice crowd on the weekend. During the week would be the time for family or couples. The food is average. Its mostly for people who want to go out
Went here to grab a beer to start the night and ended up staying for 5 or 6 more.. music and dj were top notch
I love this place!! Great music, AMAZING food, and awesome people!!! If your looking for a great time... CHECK THIS PLACE OUT!
I really like the free concerts because the venue is small. Its perfect for the before midnight party crowd.
I love the staff. This is a great place for music. The food is incredible as well. One of the best chefs in town.
Always a great time to have a drink or beer, staff very friendly, especially Tatiana, great bartender
Went for Halloween an had a blast.. Really nice place even on a regular night!! Friday or Saturday!!
Great place to eat and drink, good music too. Make sure you dont get towed on someone elses lot!
Awesome place! Best BBQ in Louisville! Nice venue to see bands up close and personal.
Not to shabby! Nice outdoor area. Cocktail prices were reasonable.
So the music is pretty danceable. Drinks were good too
If you like a constant dub step on all songs, this is the place for you. No variety. The crowd was a little douchey.
I came here with my girls, and then I went back with my hubby. Both times were great !
Horrible! As soon as I walked in I got hit in the back of the head while security was attempting to maintain a fight or throw someone out. I will not return
Had a great time. Good crowd, nice bartender and bathroom did not run out of supplies. I hate that LOL
Baxters has delicious food, a great atmosphere, and a super fun venue for concerts! The brisket tacos are a must try!!
What are some of these other people talking about? This place is great! Women want a safe environment! Thanks Baxters for making the ladies feel safe.
Great Service didnt make it in time to eat but had drinks with my friends
Great atmosphere, security takes their job seriously. Great dancing music.
LOVE Baxters 942 and Nick.....he has done so much for our daughter that was diagnosed with Leukemia when she was 2. Nick and all the staff have been amazing and its such a great atmosphere for anyone!!
Security didnt let a friend in because his shorts were too long. I have never in my life heard of such a ridiculous thing. My friend is a short guy so of course all of his shorts would be long on him and no he was not sagging. Hes just a little guy.
Great place but dress code is to strict and security is could deal with things better then they do
Someone should sue this place, and they would definitely win. There are so many people that could witness to how racist this place is. Not giving my money to them.
Simples of hate. Racist staff. If u went there u feel unwelcome before u entrance. plus drinks are not clean
LOVE THIS PLACE!!!WE HAD MY SISTER IN LAWS 50TH BIRTHDAY PARTY THERE THIS PAST WEEKEND ... WE ALL HAD A BLAST .. THE FOOD IS AMAZING THE STAFF IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING ... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!
I would like for the owner to contact me I have an issue that needs to be resolved immediately.
This place has the best pulled pork. The staff is the best. The bands that come and play are great
If you want to enjoy good music, great food and awesome drinks... you should go here!
Great bar, even better food! They have really nice tent shows!
Great music great crowd when i come in town its definitely a place i will visit again
Love to party here on Saturday night! The layout is phenomenal and spacious, service is always amazing!
Chris and Courtney were the best bartenders I’ve ever met! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THIS PLACE!
Great place to go for drinks and live music. Always busy and staff is great
Great food,Great people and live music, karaoke on Thursdays nights $5.00 cover
Its really fun to hang out there, Wednesdays they have a 5$ and then 1$ wells all night
This place sucks. Gross, sticky floors. Dance music from 15 years ago. Weird crowd.
Great lunch food. Not a huge selection but good none the less. Great friendly staff.
This bar features luce music as well as DJS for your entertainment needs. Nice spacious areas.
It was okay. It is just very loud music and make it difficult for me to tell the bartender and the drinks are just okay.
Security will overcharge to try and make a buck sometimes
Service was great and the band, Honky Tonks was incredible, keyboard player was for real
They have great live music and the staff is always super friendly!!!!
Omgod I had such a good time its a mixed atmosphere young, old,in between
Great atmosphere! Tons of beer to choose from and good food.
BEST NACHOS!!! CHEF CHICAGO AMAZING!!! WE WILL BE BACK. WHAT AN AWESOME PLACE MUSIC AND FOOD UNBELIEVABLE...
Apparently my pants were too low, according to a over zealous bouncer. Nevermind that I was wearing a belt. I find it hard to believe that I will ever return.
Went for my birthday while visiting KY. had fun didnt encounter any drama
The barbeque is unbelievble. Best ive had in a long time..the chef chicago is awesome
Good dj, friendly bartenders, chill clientele, overall popping place.
Great drinks and the DJ throws down!! Go see Chris on Thursdays or Other Chris on Fridays and Saturdays
These other jokers that left some of these reviews are crazy! This place was off the chain when we went. Food, girls, & music was poppin!
Fish tacos were to die for. Great hip space, though Im not a hipster.
Only bar in town someone has tried to fight me on two separate occasions...weird mix of dudes In thier 40s here for conventions and 22year olds..
Great place to listen to live music early and eat some fantastic BBQ.
Couldnt believe how cheap the drinks were!! Also never tried karaoke with a live band, cool experience.
Rodents.Baxters Bar & Grill, 942 Baxter Ave.Grade: C/88• Presence of rodents.• Rodent presence throughout facility. Cease and desist/closure of facility.
One of the coolest places in the Ville!!! Great music venue.
I had the fish tacos. Big enough to share. Very good!
Just ok for a bar. Just ok for a music venue. If you are looking for a just ok time, go here.
AWWWOME THE BEST HERE! GREAT FOOD, DRINKS, AND STAFF IS AWESOME HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Great atmosphere, good food. Theres not really much for vegetarians though.
First time to visit. It was great. Brisket tacos were awesome.
Generally good experience, gets a little rowdy but is fun if youre into that.
Excellent management--- good entertainment variety through the week and weekend--- GREAT BBQ
