Hole in the wall local bar. Great times on events: pride weekend, played Pride bingo and pool table. Inexpensive drinks and friendly staff and great owners. The owners were super helpful too. Friendly low key crowd. Highly recommended
The Stoned Wall is not a lot of things. Its not extravagant, its not large, and its not a massive tourist destination -- these judgements may seem negative, but I claim them with genuine affection. The Stoned Wall IS quaint, it IS tight knit, and it IS one of the better kept secluded hangouts in all of downtown. Walking in doesnt intimidate you, meeting the staff like seeing old friends, and the drinks and dishes feel homemade, with love.I adore coming here (especially with the NHGMC guys) to laugh the night away with cocktails and karaoke. You will too.
I realize that my husband and I rarely go out these days, however, earlier tonight we decided to meet up with friends who are visiting to grab drinks. We started with drinks from one plane then decided to check out another. Then had a relatively interesting experience when entering The Stoned Wall Bar & Grill. It was our first time visiting the bar after changing hands from previously being Doogies Bar and Grill ... there were four of us getting ready to open the door to enter the bar when some rando guy with no identification, who was sitting to the left of the door suddenly requests all of our IDs. Now, rest assured Im no spring chicken and you can most certainly tell Im more than 21 years old, let alone 30 or 35... Im damn near 50! No sooner than we all get past the first entry requirement of showing this guy our IDs (all while a few others who are seated to the right of the entrance were snickering and giggling which didnt go unnoticed) then we approach the bar to order drinks when the bartender also asks all of us for our IDs... and when told there was someone at the door checking IDs, he makes the comment of not knowing there was anyone at the door checking the IDs of people entering the bar. Well, well, well... come to find out, its none other than the new owner sitting outside flaunting his clout, requesting IDs from anyone hes not familiar with. Although it was my first time there, it will likely be my last. Antics such as these are not a good look and speak volumes about his character and the establishment hes running. And while hes posted numerous times about being inclusive and making the place accepting of all who enter, his act of needing to know who the new people are and acting authoritarian by asking for IDs, unbeknownst to his bartender speaks volumes about his style and approach. While Ill wish him well and hope he succeeds there are lots of other establishments that dont play these games. Its highly unlikely Ill return to this bar at any point in the future. Its really not a good look for the owner to ask for IDs of those entering when he knows or should know, his bartender would be asking for the same information! Cheers!
Dougies was a refuge and an amazing place to go to. The drinks were bad but you dont go home to have a boujee dine in. After Dougies passed the torch to Jared he has made the place more lively and brought it up to the times, the drinks are still 7/10 but its still feels like home. I believe that the bar is in the right hands and I still go here weekly. Wish they would have a broader bourbon selection.
The waitstaff is super friendly and attentive. Great vibe while you are there with friends . The food is amazing. (Thank you Virginia). Events are fun. Sunday drag brunch was a great time. Stop in for a fun time.. Love this place.
Its a vibe. Its safe. Its welcoming. Passionate/attentive staff. Good drinks. Good food. Good art all over the place. Fun events. Stoned is an overall good experience and I look forward to seeing it only get better.
I had the worst experience I have ever had as a customer, at this bar.…I had just finished my first drink of the night after getting off of a double. I finished my cocktail and my girl-friend (a girl who is a friend) and I, walked down the hallway to use the restroom before moving to another location. We knocked on the first bathroom door, occupied. We knocked on the second, open and we proceeded into the single stall bathroom together. If you know a woman- have a sister/daughter/niece, you are aware that we use the bathroom together. It’s the buddy system and I can guarantee most, if not all, younger women do this.As I am proceeding to use the bathroom there’s a knock at the door. I reply “yes” to let what I assumed was another customer know that it was occupied. It was followed with extremely loud banging on the door to which I jumped at. It was the owner yelling for one of us to come out. I quickly stood and pulled my pants up- my friend walked out. I continued to use the bathroom and then we switched so she could as well.I called my boyfriend over to the private hallway to share how uncomfortable I felt at this interaction. The owner then eves-dropped on my private words away from other customers and raised his voice at me. I quickly walked to grab my coat and purse to leave due to how aggressive he was being. He then proceeded to yell across his establishment, where other patrons were sitting, that we were either doing drugs or having sex with each other. I have never felt so disrespected, disgusted, embarrassed and sexualized.I am sure the owner will answer this- as I can see he does. He claims he told us not to go into the bathroom together. I apologize if he did say that as we walked in but I did not hear him. He had plenty of time to catch us in the hallway but instead I am vulnerable, 45 seconds in to actively using the restroom and the door is being slammed against. He also claims we had drinks in our hands in the restroom. This is false and also disgusting, why would I want my drink in the bathroom... My cocktail had been finished at my table before even walking toward the bathroom.I can understand that the owner may have had to deal with situations where people don’t use the bathroom for its purpose, but that was not our intent. If he continues to treat all of his customers in that manner, he is going to continue to scare away the customers who are enjoying the establishment and who are not engaging in any inappropriate bathroom use. There is also a previous review from a few weeks ago where a woman customer had the same experience and was accused of the same thing. The owner made my entire party of 9 people feel uncomfortable. We promptly left to remove ourselves from such an aggressive owner and toxic interaction. Unfortunately I will not be returning to what used to be a frequent bar of mine, and I will be passing this experience forward. As the owner, I hope you learn from this. I encourage you to do better. Don’t let past negative customers push you to treat everyone as if they have ill intent.
Upon my first visit to the Stoned Wall Bar and Grill I felt welcomed and well taken care of! This atmosphere is loving and safe where all can attend and enjoy! Jared, the bartenders, bouncers, cooks, shot boy, patrons and Helen made my first experience one that will keep me coming back for years to come ! If you want a great time, in a clean and fun barn this is the place to go !
Very warm and welcoming bar. Reminds me of cheers. A lot of locals. Everyone knows everyones name. The added drag shows, karaoke, and dancing, allow for a mixed variation from night to night. They even have local events held there. Yet another reason to support Local and visit. its a small community. that keeps growing, Highly recommend a visit. The new owner Jarod really has put his heart and soul into the business of creating long lasting memories. His smile, and the welcome of his team. Will make everyone feel right at home.
Walking into The Stoned Wall, is like hugging your favorite person in the whole world. It envelopes you with open caring arms and makes you feel like you won a million bucks! The staff is amazing and the owner is the friendliest, happy-go-lucky person ever! If you want the modernized ‘Cheers’ feeling, then you have come to the right place!
Not so much a review, but is there Trivia tonight? Or is the next night Aug. 19th? Sorry, not actively on Facebook Thank you!
Visited the Stoned Wall two Fridays in a row. All I can say is we are very fortunate to have such a great new establishment in Manchester. The staff has done a great job with updating a local favorite and maintaining the welcoming atmosphere.
This is hands down the best bar around! This is where you go to get great food and drinks all in a place that feels like stepping into your own main character moment. Theres always something going on and you wont want to miss any of it! Come again, tell your friends!
