Paradise Massage Spa

This is my first time in California. I booked a massage for here online for 2:30pm. Carefully booked around the rest of my plans for the day. I arrived at the location, only to be told to come back at 4:30pm. According to the male receptionist I was supposed to call for an appointment. If that was the case why have a direct booking link? Super Unprofessional! Needless to say I will not be coming back at 4:30pm because I have pre-existing plans!

I wanted to get couples massages for my partner and me but our usual place was going to be closed the day we wanted to go. So I ended up choosing Paradise Massage Center.I looked at their Yelp page and saw that they were women owned and they have a good amount of reviews. When I called to make an appointment, the lady on the phone didnt even take my name or number down.When we got to the massage center, we were (surprisingly) greeted by a man. I guess women owned wouldnt mean only women work there.Now Ive only ever been on one massage place ever. So I can only compare this place with the other one.When we walked in, we paid and then went straight to the massage room. He didnt give us a rundown of how everything worked. He didnt ask us about what pressure we wanted to start out with. He didnt ask us if we were more comfortable with a male or female masseuse We didnt even meet our masseuses! I ended up with a male masseuse and believe me it was weird when one of the first things he touched was my butt. Still, when asking my partner about his massage, it seems Paradise just has a different massaging technique and they spend more time on butts because his female masseuse also massages his butt for some time.When I asked if my partners massage could be only upper body and mine be full body- he said yes! But when the massage was happening- they did full body for both of us!My place also allows us to pick an essential oil to put in the room so it can smell good and relaxing to us. And their full body massage includes face and head whilst Paradise worked on our backs for 45 minutes and then our legs for 15. My place uses hot rocks in the beginning of a massage so that way your body and its muscles relax. Paradise used it halfway through for some reason. Brought a bucket of water into the room to hold the rocks and some towels. Loudly splashing the water as they rung out their towels.They get on the table with you?? They talked to each other multiple times, in what i could only say was a loud whisper. They completely broke the vibe quite often.They used hot rocks on us, hot towels, dry towels, and then a body scrub that we had NO IDEA they would be using. The body scrub was absolutely the worst thing about the massage. We werent expecting to be scratched during our massage. Also the masseuses-- when they were finished with our backs and legs, they like- slapped them?? Like we were drums. It was so weird-- I had to stop myself from bursting out laughing.The massage overall was like a 5/10.Service was a 6/10 because they did give us water bottles when we left and had offered us some candy and drinks in the massage room as well.Professionalism: 3/10I think its important to log appointments/clients. Its important to sign waivers your first time coming. (Thats what my place does.) Its important to explain how itll work, if the masseuses speak english or not and whether you have code words so that we can adjust the pressure when needed. Its important to meet the masseuses BEFORE youre naked. Its important to listen to what the client wants. Its important to have someone who can speak and understand English to fully comprehend what their clients want. Anyway, would not go here again. Definitely sticking to my place.

I got the deep tissue with Annie . Ill be back. Not a fancy place, smells like a dirty fish pond. Ive been to the swanky places and gotten pitiful massages. Im there for the massage...not the decor. 😜

Booked an appointment over the phone and was able to get in earlier than expected. It is located in the same parking lot as the grocery store right there. I believe it’s a Safeway or Smart & Final. The massage was worth it. I paid $55.00 for an hour. You get your own room for privacy and it is probably good to know that you do have to remove all of your clothes. They mostly keep you covered up the entire time except a little bit when they do a body scrub. She spent a lot of time working out the tense spots in my back and shoulders. It was surprising how quick she was able to feel the knots and massage them out. My favorite part was towards the end when they massage your neck and upper shoulders. Everything looked clean and nice. The people working were friendly and kind too. Enjoyed this first time having a massage. 10/10. They gave me a water bottle as I left which was nice. I felt so relaxed and good after that I wanted to leave a tip with the massager. I even told them I’d recommend this place to my friends and family. Love it!

I took my daughter to get a massage for the first time for her birthday. I didnt care too much for the environment. We were able to hear the conversation that was going on in the next room because the walls didnt go all the way up to the ceiling. On top of that, it didnt have the relaxing aroma smells like a lot of the massage places have. I have no complaints about the massage its self. Its just not the environment that Im used to, and I wish I would have picked a better place for my daughters first massage experience.

Walked in on Christmas Eve morning for a quick 30 min upper body/lower back massage. Lovely ambience (soothing music, perfect lighting, good sized room) and a really good, deep tissue massage that included hot stone and a scrub.I honestly wasnt expecting much but Im so happy I stopped in. Will definitely be back when we are in area again!Reasonable price, professional staff and again, a really good deep tissue massage!

The reviews from this place made me a little nervous. But I wanted to treat my love to a couples massage. It was a nice ambiance, clean, quiet with relaxing music playing. We had the 60-minute massage. It was absolutely amazing. I want the same masseuse every time I go. She was exceptional. Me and my love felt euphoria leaving there. I enjoyed how they focus on making sure to relieve all the knots in my back. The hot stones were short but felt so amazing. My favorite part. I liked the place and expressed my appreciation with a decent tip. I was nervous we would be pressured after reading the reviews, but they didnt mention it when we finished. She handed us bottled water. I think if they work that hard, they deserve a tip. Its only right. We discussed it before we went, so everything would work out fine. My love and I both gave our masseuse $10. BTW we pay before service, tip after service. But it was great service, so no stress.

First of all I bought the hr combo massage off Groupon for couples for $130. The first thing she tells me is pay through her not Groupon it’s cheaper which it was. Then they took 15min pass out apt time to pull us back, it was cold as hell and the gas you you to get naked, they spent a total of 3-4min on both my back and legs with the hot stone sand scrub for the entire hour. Homeless guy was yelling at us to leave his shop alone when we walked in. It was not relaxing. And to make matters worse when we left the lady had the nerve to say next time pay $10/each in tip not $5 cause they work hard. Knowing we paid more than what we got. Horrible service horrible environment not worth your money

The facility was neat and clean, tastefully decorated and the lighting and music was soothing. The young gentleman that gave me my massage was respectful and used just the right force that I requested. Very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend visiting this salon!

Made an appointment at 6pm called me 6 times while I was at work too reschedule for 3:30pm. Arrived at 7:30pm and asked me to wait 30 minutes..not professional

First of all, the massage was good. Lets just say that.The massage therapists were friendly when we arrived and they took our Groupon and led us to our rooms. I was actually pretty happy with the experience overall until we were leaving.They offered us a bottle of water which I thought was nice and then immediately asked for a tip.I was so put off that I was like I dont know, maybe like next time? I have never felt pressured to tip before it was really weird.The man said, if you dont tip, dont come back. We work very hard.Okay, I felt guilty. I gave him $5. He looked at me and he looked at my wallet and he was like we work very hard. My $5 tip wasnt enough. I was confused.I said hey Katie we paid for this right? We bought the massage? Yes. Its paid for.And I just gave him a $5 tip and it wasnt good enough. And he was being increasingly rude, so I made sure to inform him the tips are actually something thats voluntary and that you should never pressure your customers to give you tips, and especially if they do give you tips and pay for it, dont tell them to not come back. Thats really stupid. Youre going to ruin your own business by telling your customers to go away after they pay for things.I own a business. I work hard as well. I dont expect tips.He didnt speak English enough to fully understand and argue with me lol. We left. We wont return. Its really a shame, because the massage itself was good.If you go, I guess, be prepared to pay more than the prices say, or theyll be offended and tell you to leave.

Went to this place with my other half and it was our first time getting massages at a spa. Originally we scheduled the appointment for 7pm, but called back to reconfirm because the lady did not take a name for the appointment. They kept calling my other half to make sure we were going to make the appointment, even though we had already confirmed. We were a few minutes late because we got turned around trying to find the place. When we got there, the lady at the front desk found us by our phone number. She said we needed to pay first and asked if it would be cash or card. Before we could answer, she said we should pay cash because it was better. The language barrier with staff made it difficult to communicate. The front desk lady had to use Google translate in order to understand what we were asking for. I didn’t expect them to speak perfect English, but to be unable to communicate with customers or understand questions being asked, was frustrating. We were taken to a room that had two beds, and were told to undress. They asked my other half if he wanted a male or female masseuse, and he had no preference. A few minutes later, two males come into the room. I requested a female, which they told me was not available and tried to have me keep the male masseuse. I told them I was not comfortable with a male, so they went back and forth until finally a female masseuse entered the room. The massages were 60 minutes and the masseuse, I felt, did a good job. The hot stones was my favorite part. After our session, I had my other half tip because, like I said, the masseuse did a good job. He gave $20 to the lady who worked on me and said the other gentleman that he had, walked away. As we were getting ready to leave, the woman he tipped, ran out to the front and said something to the front desk receptionist in their language. The lady at the front desk stopped us and said, “you forget tip?”, meaning the tip for the gentleman, and was very pushy about getting it. I was taken back at the way they handled everything. If it wasn’t for the massage, I would give this place a 1-star or negative stars, if it were an option. This was our first and last time going there.

My husband and I had never had a massage before and it did not disappoint! The massage was incredible. They really took their time. The bed is nicely warm and the ambience is very relaxing. The hot stones were the perfect temperature. We both left feeling super relaxed. Definitely will be back again!

My daughter told me about this place. I called and made an appointment for the same day. Massage was good but I paid $150 for two people and they wanted me to leave a huge tip. I really dont understand why I have to pay more when I already paid for the service. The tip is supposed to be based on the gratitude I feel in response to the service. I gave the tip that I felt was adequate for the service I received and they asked for a larger tip. I complained to the front desk and he told me that I had to pay for the tip. The fact that the owner doesnt pay their employees enough doesnt mean that I have too.

The massage was okay. The carpet was dirty. Towels were ripped. So this place is ghetto. When the massage was over the masseuse was waiting for me outside the doors to walk me out just to point out a sign that said, “we appreciate tips”. I was practically forced to tip her. I will definitely not be returning.

I was gifted a massage from here, and I must say that it was great! It was suggested to me that I request one of the ladies, but the gentleman that I ended up with did an outstanding job. The establishment is very clean and peaceful, and they were very professional. I would recommend. Do be aware that this type of massage is slightly more of a deep tissue though, and it is normal to be sore later. (Go home and soak in a nice Epsom salt bath afterward)

I been going there for awhile now but 100% sure I will NOT return. My massage guy did my head for about 20 minutes pushing down very intensive. I always got my back done at any massage place. This guy did not do an inch of my back I didn’t even get told to turn over. And what finished it off for me was the lady at the front desk forcing a tip. My friend tipped 5 and she was smiling telling her she needs to tip 10. It wasn’t even professional how much they try to demand for a tip.

Not a terrible place for an average massage. The overall experience was tainted by the lady at the front desk who, upon receiving my tip, laughed and told me I needed to tip more. This was my first time coming here and I had purchased a Groupon in advance. The massage itself was average, and I felt I tipped according to the service I was provided. I guess expect to tip more than $10 if coming here?

The massage was not good the lady felt the knot, and skipped over it. It was supposed to be a custom massage but I felt like they done the bare minimum cause I purchased off Groupon. When the lady asked for the tip I gave her $5 cause I definitely was not satisfied she had the aducitiy to say no 5 dollar ten dollar. Will not be getting my future service. Very disappointed.

This was my first massage ever. I came with my husband. It was amazing. The guys a little rough, but i definitely needed it. It was so nice, relaxing and pleasant. They had a room with 2 beds so my husband & i can get our massages together. I liked it so much i told my husband we should do this once a month. Definitely will be back. Thank you!!!!

This place is horrible! I let them know before my massage that I have lower back and neck issues. This was the worst massage because he seemed to rub so hard even when I asked multiple times to lighten up. Then he began punching in various places. If youre massaging someone, shouldnt you be able to feel when theyre tensing up? Not one moment of it was relaxing. I was especially uncomfortable when he spread my leg and began rubbing higher than I even like my husband to go. Couldnt see tipping for this lack of service. They did, however, proceed to call me multiple times asking if I was coming back with the tip. Really?

It was okay in the beginning, besides the rushing and no busy traffic at the time. The massage was okay , in the beginning, barely worked on my feet legs and head. At the end my whole group of 4 was beyond disgusted on how they reacted about our tips. I know that they “work for tips” but I do not Carr they did not even do that good of a job. I felt ambushed when I asked for my tip money back, as the clerk , a man I didn’t get his name but anyway I hated the overall experience for my first time getting a massage

Tacky and unprofessional place.Tried this place out for the first time today.They asked for payment up front. No problem. I paid plus a 20% tip up front in cash. The receptionist tried to give me change and I said no, thats the tip.I told the receptionist that Im very ticklish and to make sure the massage therapist knew not to touch my feet at all.I told the therapist again directly when she came in.SEVERAL times throughout the massage, she kept trying to massage my feet. She LAUGHED every time even though I was obviously uncomfortable and kicking. I flat out told her dont laugh. This isnt funny. Dont do that. But she would do it again like its some game.The massage was mediocre at best. A lot of sharp elbows and just kind of random like whatever she could think of doing in that moment....no flow or progression at all.You can hear lots of people talking in neighboring rooms the whole time. You can hear the receptionist talking to the other clients up front.When I was done as I started walking out, the massage therapist grabbed my hand, stopped me, said I need tip. I told her, in the waiting room in front of other clients, I already left you a 20% tip. It was so embarrassing. She insisted again and again that I didnt tip her. She even said You tip other lady. You need to tip me too. So apparently she thought I gave the receptionist, who did nothing other than take my money, a 20% tip.Eventually the receptionist came and said no, she wasnt keeping the tip and shed give it to the massage therapist. And then tried to strong arm me into booking another visit.No way. Nothing about this experience was professional, relaxing, or therapeutic.

I bought a couples massage on Groupon for my DILs birthday. It was her first time getting a massage. She loved it. She said she felt amazing. Only complaints I have are: I needed harder massage in areas (next time Ill speak up) and when I flipped over, more massage on top of legs. We were greeted and taken to room promptly on arrival.

I’ve been here a handful times. 3 out of my four times have been really good. I think it’s a hit or miss with masseuse. Take cash with you because they charge $2 every time for charging cards. My 4th time they forced me to pay before massage, charged $2 fee and then after massage they wanted to charge $2 fee again for tip. I didn’t tip high because I paid for 90 mins deep tissue and was given a relaxing massage. I had to tell my masseuse twice to give me deep tissue but after a couple minutes she stopped…She forced me to tip her more.So a suggestion; get your massage done and then pay!

Purchased a couples massage on Groupon. Got a killer deal for around $80. The massage was the best my boyfriend and I have had in a very long time. Staff was friendly, and did there best for us to enjoy a nice relaxing time. I very much recommend this spot. We will def be coming back for massages. We feel so relaxed and like new :) thank you!

Went for 90 minute full body massage, the girl @ cash register said head to foot massage. Masseuse only and only focused on back, though it was great, but she barely massaged my arms and legs. So when I went up front and when I was asked how was the massage I tried to tell her and receptionist kept on saying ok thank you, see you next time . Then I started again she repeated same. Either she didnt want to listen to me or language barrier.

Couples Massage was excellent. Deep tissue massage was emaculate. Foot massage helped calves and ankle pain. Even had a head massage included. The stone massage was like icing on the cake. Be sure to do after care for deep tissue massage.

Great massage by Rose she did my whole body and,The knots I had on my back were specilly rubbed out she focused on them till gone .she was too focus on the time though as if she didnt want to get into trouble .Overall I will Def be coming back ,thank u rose...

WOW! Mama and I have been here twice now, which is kind of a big deal for us bc we live in N Stockton. AMAZING! Great massages and Groupon also has a coupon (youre welcome). We get the couples 70 min. head to toes and leave completely relaxed. We HIGHLY recommend.

I went in a group of three. I was very satisfied, but they didnt have a room for three only two so our group got split. 2-1 . We got deep tissue massages and it was great. It was from head to toe. Most of the focus was on the back which was perfect for me. Overall it was a good experience.

My mum and I have been visiting this place for years, and well always come back. In our latest visit, they provided us with water and Squirt soda. The staff is always friendly and the masseurs are very professional. The environment is very calm and relaxing.

Just got a massage done here that I bought on Groupon and I must say it was amazing! I would definitely recommend this place to everyone! The lady at the front desk was so nice I couldn’t get the Groupon to work at first and she tried helping me then offered to let me call Groupon and cancel and then pay in the shop and still give me the discount. It was so nice they did such a great job I feel so relaxed and will definitely be back again!!

Honestly I regret going here. It wasnt even relaxing just painful. The guy dug into my shoulder blades while I winced, groaned, and tensed up in pain trying to get him to stop using that amount of pressure but he never listened. Plus all he did was rub his forearm across my back leaving me thinking if this was even a professional massage business. Next day Im in pain and can barely even move my back an shoulders making my job very difficult to do. Will not be going back here again!

Everyone is saying they get pressured leaving tips, therefore I won’t go. I hate to be pressured to leave any tip. Sorry for the one star. Maybe change that attitude towards customers and we can go use ur massage

My friend introduced me to massage in the past. It was really a great place. It did n’t disappoint me. Everyone was very nice, very clean and tidy, and my body was relaxed. I highly recommend everyone.

Me and my boyfriend came here to get massaged and it was so relaxing! We had head to toe massages and included was the sea salt scrub, hot stones, and essential oils. It is definitely worth it and definitely what we needed!
