Stopped here on the way back to Charleston from Myrtle Beach. Nice looking location and nice atmosphere. It was a Sunday afternoon and not too crowded, yet the service was a little slow. Cant recommend the old fashioned. Food was delicious. I would definitely recommend. Stay away from the old fashioned drink.
We stopped here for lunch before heading home after our vacation but wish we would have came in before our last day! This place was awesome! ALL the workers were so friendly! We had the male waiter with white beard, don’t remember his name, but props to him, best service I’ve had in a long time! Place was clean, Food was great, affordable price! Will definitely return when we come back! 🩷
Our server was not very friendly. She spent more time behind the bar chatting than working. When we finished our meal we waited patiently trying to get her attention if she looked our way. Eventually another young waitress who was extremely busy had observed us sitting and asked if she could get us anything else. We asked for the bill and she started to ring us out when our waitress decided to help us. Had we had the young waitress who tried to help us from the start of our visit my rating would have been much different. We had observed how busy she was serving inside and outside of the establishment.
Bit pricey, but you get your moneys worth of fresh, delicious food. Left with my stomach bulging, more than satisfied (I ordered the 8th wonder. Cool name for a burger to be honest). Music is just as advertised. Also got billiards table in the back. Nice place
This place is awesome, tons of history. The walls are filled with photos throughout the years. You could look at them for hours. The house band is pretty good and will keep you entertained. A one of a kind place. They have all kinds of memorabilia you can purchase. Hats, shirts, stickers, ashtrays, belt buckles, pins, lighters, shot glasses, mugs, you name it and they probably have it.
Shout out to Maddie who was such a doll! She reminded me of how fun it is to work at a bar & grill as I used to in the past. Her energy is wonderful and her personality is magnetic. I will definitely come back to eat the bacon burger and have just as good of a time as I did. Thanks again!
If I could give this place a 0 I would. I was surprised when we were walking the boardwalk to learn of this bar and its history with the band Alabama. We decided to go and have some lunch. My husband asked for a strawberry long island, and we ended up getting a drink with so much strawberry syrup in there, it was THICK and barely went through the straw. They only had the very front section open by the bar. It was very slow at the time and we asked if we could walk the back part just to see the cool memorabilia. They wouldnt let us do that. In fact, I didnt see one thing about the band Alabama in there- probably because it was all in the back. When we finally got our food, it was awful! Something as simple as french fries were soggy. It was the worst batch of deep fried potatoes I had ever seen in my life! I would never recommend this place to anyone, and Im half tempted to write to the band Alabama to tell them how terrible this place is and the representation behind them. I doubt the band will even see the letter, but If it were me, I would hate to have such a place backing my name.
The only positive was our server. He did his best to make our experience better, but the food was horrible. Waited an hour+ for 2 shrimp baskets, wings n a burger. Shrimp was deep fried so hard the shrimp was like shoe rubber. Wings were overcooked. Fresh cut fries were greasy, but I liked them. My friend did not.
I give service a 3 because one bartender was awesome and one looked like she’d never served a drink before lol but the vibes here are great!!! They were having karaoke or open mic or something and every one was great! Loved the servers I ran into going to the bathroom or whatever as well. Everyone looked happy to be there besides that one bartender. We will definitely be back in future trips!
Drove over 400 miles on my birthday and watching the house band was one of my things to do while there, I harassed from the time I entered, I went to an open table and sat for 15 minutes with no waiters acknowledging my presence, then security lady tapped me on the shoulder and said I needed to move because that table was unavailable. So I said no problem and headed to the bar for a draft, went to stand in a corner and then was told by the same security lady that I couldn’t stand there, so I went back to a table that had just opened up and sat down..then the waiter comes by and said I couldn’t sit there unless I ordered food because that’s how they make their money. So I ordered a burger that couldn’t have been cooked but maybe a min, completely raw but I ate it anyway. So after that I felt like I needed to stand up a second to stretch my legs mainly because I’m 6’5 and my legs go to sleep when sitting in those little chairs..as soon as I stood up the same security lady tapped me on my shoulder again and said I wasn’t allowed to stand there and I had to sit down or leave my table….relentless badgering ! So I decided to just leave and indicated to the security lady who was 10 feet away from me the entire time that she was the reason and she had ruined my night to which she replied “Good !!! I’m Glad!!!” … All I need to know about that place… never again!! If you a white male you may want to avoid this place and south Myrtle Beach as a whole, I feel it’s lost to us…
Me and my wife both 60 years old enjoying an evening there sitting where we were directed to sit were nearly assaulted and threatened with violence from an overzealous armed security guard I understand the night before a patron was punched in the face from someone working security there left several email detailing the occurrence not a peep from ownership so if that’s the kind of place you enjoy by all means have at it ,me a local and all the folks I hang with at the beach will take our year round business elsewhere contemplating a complaint to the city so at least it’s on record for the next time something happens there all he had to do was say hey this is reserved I know you have been here for a while we can seat you right over here thank you but that’s not how it went waiter was stunned other security personnel just shook their heads affraid to intervene on our behalf, if this was my establishment I came in a read this on Monday morning I would be furious and demand answers and I would Clean house, if you would like to reach me regarding this review check your in box but I doubt I will hear anything based on what I’ve seen up to this point, hold on to that video we may need that, and maybe explain to your lackey not everyone who comes in there is a drunken rowdy tourist, I’ve been counseled ,and we believe Deputy Fife has committed battery in the 3rd degree
Some of the service was amazing, but that doesnt mean everyone was pleasant. The good people made up for it. I enjoyed the House band. The bounty hunters I think their name was... regardless I went back 3 of my 6 night vacation to enjoy the music in a FUN low maintenance atmosphere. Idk, this place is just authenticly itself and as a dude from as far north as possible, it was cool. Shout-out to the band again, definitely a talented group of guys
If I could give negatives I would. We waited sooo long for our food (about 45 mins )It was only 3 of us my son started to get a tooth ache and so he had to leave to get some meds. The waiter very nice told me that there was a larger table they had to serve. However, I wasn’t born yesterday. The fries were over cooked and soggy meaning they sat for a while, the chicken sandwich was soo soggy and with fat. Meaning our food sat for a while. Meanwhile, another family that came 10 minutes after we did got their food fresh. It looked so good. I had to take the food to go, so I couldn’t thoroughly inspect. When I got to my hotel room that’s when I realized how bad my food was. Super salty for over $90.
My wife and I just wanted to listen to some music so we got there early and had a bite to eat good thing we did because the place filled up quick. Food was typical bar food but decent service was exceptional we would definitely go again
Dont go here unless you want to get ripped off. They felt it was OK to give themselves a 350% tip on my card. Twice. Ive been disputing charges for days. Never again will I go to this establishment. If you want to hear a good band go to Tin Roof or 3001, dont risk this place stealing from you.
Food was great and had a wonderful experience the first night went back last night the band was great and everything was excellent until the long haired bartender in the back bar ripped me off asked if I wanted a double tequila soda and charged me 32 for that and a double Long Island which is not possible also pored the Long Island from a bottle not made definitely a wonderful place but watch the shady bartender that will rip you off. Use the side bar with the mustachioed man he is honest and really nice.
Havent been to this place in 35+ years. Would come to the Bowery as a young teen with my dad when we would visit the area. Had a toast to my dads because I know he was with me. Looks like much has not changed since then, but thats exactly what makes it great. My buddy and I stayed and enjoyed some good country music. What a nice memory.
We found this place when we were walking on the boardwalk at MB. Absolutely loved their sign that says hot beer, lousy food, bad service. They have a great outdoor patio which was pet friendly so it was a perfect spot to hang out with our boys. Our waiter, Ishmael, was super friendly, loved chatting with the customers, was great with the dogs and made us feel so welcome. The wings were juicy & tender. We would go back there on another trip to MB.
THIS IS A MUST VISIT FOR EVERYONE WHO VISITS MYRTLE BEACH!Located right off the beach the restaurant/ pub has a live band performing even on weekdays! Great beers, must try the in-house Bowery beer, not many options for IPA, not much for variety for vegan/veg food though you eat fries and nachos! Dylan was excellent at accommodating us!This place has a vibe for all age groups!Cheers!
I wouldve given a five star overall review, but $100(not including tip) for Totinos pizza rolls,a single hamburger, and 2 rounds of drinks, was kind of steep for a dive bar....burger was good,as was the service, just the pricing left a little something to be desired...
Music was good. The food was super overpriced and greasy. $15 gross fried fish basket. Cigarette machine ate my credit card. Wont probably be back, as there is great live music all over town and decent food.
Ordered jalapeños poppers and it had about 5 small pieces. Took a very long time for our food to come. I ordered chicken fingers, which were more chicken nuggets size, and by the time they brought my food, they were already cold. Fries were saggy and very oily. Waitress asked how food was, and I was honest with her, so she got her manager to get it off the bill. Still paid almost $70 (not including to) for 2 draft beers, a Randy Bacon Cheeseburger, and a Hillbilly Philly Cheese stake.
2 beers prior and food at another bar for several hours. Last night at Myrtle beach. Ubered to Bowery per recommendation fro local. Was not allowed to enter due to side stepping trying to hook purse. VERY VERY disappointed and wasted $25 on Uber ride. Sucked!!!!Just trying to have a good night. Seem too strick!
Anthony gave us THE BEST service all night. We were a large group and he was friendly, attentive and gave us the incredible experience. Thanks for a perfect night! - the pink bachelorette party
Food was good, but the live music is what earns this place its stars! Phenomenal atmosphere. Great location. The servers on the music side were so attentive.
Marissa was the best bartender I ever had. She treated me with so much respect, was assertive and super kind. Shes also so cute! She made me feel so comfortable. I love her!
The amount of confederate flags should have instantly told us to walk out. The atmosphere was nonexistent other than confederacy vibes. The guy wasn’t very nice and they were over priced. The peach on the beach also tasted strait like sour mix.
This place should definitely be on your list if your looking for a great beach bar to go and visit while in Myrtle, especially if the Bounty Hunters are playing that night. They played every song so well and they take requests in exchange for whatever amount of cash you have to offer. I had a great time. The drinks are great and the food is decent for being bar food. Will definitely be there anytime I’m in the area.
One of the few places you can smoke cigars, cigarettes or vape. Staff is very arrentive to your needs. The burger was perfect however, the fresh cut fries were a bit soggy but edible. Will continue to visit during vacation every time.
This place is a fixture at MB. I hit up this joint with my family every time we go to the beach. The most awesome thing about this visit was how the wait staff would not only check up on their table, but even the ones nearby. Top notch staff! Food was great. Cant go wrong with the 8th Wonder. It is huge but worth every bite. NJ Drunkin Trooper Cheesesteak is a great option especially if you want a steak sandwich but dont like green peppers. Wings are crispy with no breading. Buffalo sauce is not very hot so everyone could enjoy them regardless of your heat index. Fries are hand cut and the kids are huge fans of the chicken sandwich and tenders. Top that off with a pitcher or two of their Bowery Beer on draft and youre good to go! Very cool place to sit outside. You can view the ocean, volleyball courts, or people watch. The long picnic tables easily accommodated a group of six.
I love Alabama but the server that greeted us at the door was rude and not friendly at all we asked to sit inside due to a storm that was coming and the nasty look we got for asking that we just left and went to another restaurant, definitely had better service last year not sure what happened in a years time 🤷🏻♀️
We ate here for a late lunch today. Its a cozy restraunt and bar. It has a positive and lively environment. Staff were great. Now lets talk about the food. Price wise, it is a great value. We ordered Chuckys chicken sandwich with fries and ultimate big daddy cheeseburger with fries. Their fries are probably the best fries Ive ever had. It is a similar case with the cheeseburger, superb cheeseburger. Everyone should definitely check this place out.
1 tequila 2 tequila 3 tequila = a night in jail and a headache and a hassle when visiting the iconic dive bar in Myrtle beach known as the Bowery. Not a place where you can drink and have fun without worrying about the police scoping you out and wanting to take you to jail, as your leaving this establishment while walking down the sidewalk, back to the truck, even if your being responsible and have a sober driver.
I would pass…the food was not good. I got a burger, my kids got wings and a chicken sandwich, no one enjoyed their food. Service was great, though.
Band was great, didnt eat so I cant tell you bout food, hadnt been here in over ten years since my last visit, missed the mugs of beer only that made it unique for nostalgia purposes, now, reading other reviews, if youre woke walking up in here, complaining belly aching whining, did you think it was a martini bar in NYC, this bar isnt hurting anyone or doing anything wrong, if you dont want to go here dont go, its ok if you dont like the bar, the vibe, or the scene, there are bars that are not my cup of tea either, and to the Bowery, keep your tradition, what got you here, a Southern honky tonk throw down some beers and damn good music, keep doing your thing for the people that love it
I came here late night on 4/17. I wanted to bring in my birthday (4/18) with a few shots! The main reason for coming was because it was fairly close to my hotel. They check your ID at the door before you come in. It was a little about midnight but it was definitely chaotic, in my option. One side was the bar and the other side was the restaurant area, i suppose. I went on the bar side to wait on more people. When I finally decided to order, I did so at the bar. Their alcohol selection is not the best, especially for someone who can only have certain alcohols (low carb). They had no circoc and no flavored sky, as an example. The bartender seemed to be in a rush. He was an older guy. It was hard getting his attention as well. Luckily, I’m just here visiting and don’t mind really bar hopping. I ended up meeting my cousin at Tin Roof down the street. I had been there yesterday. I would recommend them over this place. It’s more space and better vibes.
This review is exclusively about Aaaaaanthony the server. We had such fun with him! He took great care of my group of 14 girls at our bachlorette outing. He was friendly, helpful and made sure to bring us waters and refills on the dance floor. He really hooked it up for us and made our bride’s night. Thanks Aaaanthony! Catch ya on the Jersey Shore sometime!
I recently visited The Bowery at Myrtle Beach and had a mixed experience. While I didnt try the food, I encountered an issue with my tab that left me dissatisfied. It appeared that my bill included charges for more drinks than I actually ordered, and when I brought this to the attention of the staff, they seemed unconcerned and unapologetic. This lack of responsiveness was disappointing and something to be aware of when visiting.Apart from this issue, the overall experience at The Bowery was average. The atmosphere was enjoyable, and the ambiance had a certain charm. However, the service was lacking in attentiveness, with slow response times and minimal engagement from the staff.Given my limited experience, I recommend caution when visiting The Bowery. While it may have its appeal in terms of atmosphere, the lack of responsiveness regarding billing concerns and the average service make it difficult to provide a wholehearted recommendation. Its advisable to be vigilant about your tab and manage your expectations accordingly.
5 star 5 star 5 star. Bartenders are very chill. Charlene is a great manager as well, thanks for taking care of us this weekend!
“Hot Beer, Lousy Food, Bad Service” With a slogan like this you won’t be disappointed because your expectations should be well in check when you walk through the door! The food: nothing to see here… adequate to stave off hunger is all. Lots of stuff on the wall to look at, two pool tables and lots of 🍺 on draft and special drinks. Good beach spot to rest your bum and watch some volley ball! If you’re and Alabama fan you can brush elbows with folks who still remember they were once called Wild Country! Bottom line? Go for a drink and gawk at the memorabilia.
This place was so laid back... old school bar atmosphere. Service and food was amazing.
This place was great! Good food good drinks great atmosphere and amazing staff!!!
We love coming here to people watch and enjoy the outdoors and the ocean views. The atmosphere of the outside dining area is great. The food is good. I wouldnt rate anything as my favorite but I havent tried everything yet either. My husband and I usually get burgers and I decided to try the nachos this trip. If I ordered then again I wouldnt upgrade and just stick with the nacho cheese and chips version. The lettuce, tomato and onion werent necessary. My husband loves the 5 alarm burger and he always adds chili. Its pricey for what you get but you are paying for the location so we like to play tourists and venture over now and again.
Bar food so 🤷🏻♀️ but the staff was fun and the vibe was great!
Very welcoming & friendly staff. Cozy, inexpensive, casual, & rustic...my kinda restaurant/bar! Cheesesteak & fries were perfect & both hot. We were given free tickets from waitress for country/rock live band that would arrive later. We werent able to attend but a nice gift & a great promotion idea.
Went here on Saturday night. The food is your typical bar food. They have a small menue and beer selection. All we got was onion rings and burgers. Ths food was ok but not great. Prices were good for the location. The waitress and staff was friendly, helpful and professional. Service was fast and accurate.
What a great time! It was a Monday night but it felt like a Saturday. The band was awesome and fun to listen to as they bantered back and forth. A very crowd-engaging band that kept up the energy the whole show. The wait staff was on point and the drinks were strong. Im so glad we found this gem! Cheers!
I had a great experience! Incredible service, great music, definitely one of the best cheeseburger I had in my life, super cheap prices...There also is one or 2 pool table in the back. Lovely atmosphere overall. On a concert night, this place must be insane. Also, fantastic oceanfront patio for an afternoon beer. The only disappointment I can think of is that the beer/alcohol selection isnt to large. Dont expect any cocktail here.
Fun, friendly, tasty food, awesome service, great selection of drinks. Gotta try the Buffalo Mac n Cheese bites!! Delish!!
Website says the band plays until 1:30am, but the two nights I was there, they shut down at midnight and 11pm. The atmosphere was fun, though.
A Culinary Delight with a MAJOR HiccupMy recent visit to The Bowery in Myrtle Beach, SC, was an experience filled with delightful culinary surprises and top-notch service. However, there was one aspect that held back an otherwise perfect dining experience. The Bowery delivered a fantastic meal, with the famed 8th Wonder living up to its reputation. This signature dish is truly a must-try for anyone visiting the establishment. Paired with the exceptional service provided by the attentive and courteous staff, the overall dining experience was indeed memorable.Unfortunately, the one factor that prevented this visit from being a full five-star experience was the smoking policy at the bar. The presence of smoke in the dining area detracted from the otherwise enjoyable atmosphere. Its puzzling why The Bowery allows smoking in this space, as it has the potential to impact the overall experience for other patrons. In conclusion, The Bowery offers a remarkable dining experience with its delicious food and fantastic service. However, the smoking policy at the bar leaves room for improvement. If The Bowery were to address this issue, it would undoubtedly elevate the establishment to a five-star dining destination. Until then, the experience remains enjoyable, albeit with a MAJOR drawback.
A little heavy on the Confederacy for my tastes but the drinks were ok and the fries were pretty good.
Russell took great care of us! Our food always came out tasting great and location on the boardwalk is super convenient.
Great live music spot was exactly what we were looking for great band and cold beer. Didnt eat but do have food.
SUCH A GREAT PLACE, amazing drinks. The country band is so talented THEY PLAYED FREEBIRD 😍
Food was good but very expensive for what you got. Place could use a good cleaning for sure. Great atmosphere.
Fun place. $5.00 beer $12 patron shot. Great live music.
Bartender (Tyler) was just what you want in a bartender, wiisea@#$, good at handling bar and food service. Chili cheese fries were best bar fries Ive had in a while. Ambience was great! Character up tge wazoo. Some places are just easy, Duffys is that. Know what you want, 1 stars go elsewhere. The picture is bad because we couldnt wait to eat them. And and hour later....a darn good burger.
The fire alarm burger was really a solid burger. A good party and well cooked. Wed come back for a burger, but that was the only thing we liked. The fries were way to salty. The chicken tenders were cheap frozen seeming chicken tenders tossed in the blandest Buffalo sauce weve ever had. Essentially just wet low quality chicken strips. If you want a burger, then go, but skip the chicken.
Good place, pure American !!! Good live music , love it… definitely recommend!!!.. baru ii pizdos nai treaba!!!
Wanted to love this place because if the history, but it was not pleasant. More like a dive bar from a small town, messy and staff was limited if that..
Contrary to the humorous sign that they have hot beer, lousy food, and bad service, The beer was plenty cold, the food (I had the 8th wonder which was amazing), and the service was fantastic. The 8th wonder which is a full pound Burger with tons of onion rings and fries and and other stuff. It was so big that the staff commented on it and people on the patio were looking at it asking about what I ordered. I did end up eating it all but I didnt need to eat for the rest of the day.
Food was not good to me chicken fingers someone says there burgers are better
The place is a bit pricy but for the area its to be expected. Its a greate little spot to stop off for a bite.
We just stopped in for some quick food near our hotel. We were seated immediately and even though the doors/windows were open the AC was running high enough we kept cool. The food was good but its pretty heavy/fried food which can be a lot on a hot day. The bartender was friendly and helpful.
We had a good time. The food was really good. The drinks were delicious
Food was good and so was the service. Im not a big fan of eating in a smoke filled atmosphere though, but its a bar.
Microwaved chicken sandwich when the menu states grilled. The whole thing was soggy. Fries are decent. Loaded with dust and debris on the ceiling fans and the vents blowing on us. I guess it’s a trend or traditional around here that silverware is optional. We had to ask for some, but only received 2 plastic forks? No knives. We also tried the jalapeño poppers which were less than good. I guess back in the day it was a great place from what I hear. I wouldn’t eat here, but might be worth checking out if they have a band playing.
Everything was fresh. The waitress was very accommodating. Clean area
Service was great let us know kitchen was behind made sure we didn’t need anything while we waited. The food was NOT great our fries were soggy like they had been recooked because they set too long Maui Maui bites were very dry. Nachos could of had better meat from Taco Bell as my husband put it. The band was nice to listen to country genre. Like the ability to people watch from the outside dining.
Waitress was great. She did her best to serve us. However, the food was not that impressive. For the price I expect better. The food did not meet the hope. The band that night was mediocre. We stayed for 30 minutes and left unimpressed.
Love this place. Great summer band. They are great
The Band had a great country music theme, It was a very welcoming atmosphere.
Live music, but a pretty packed place. Only 2 beer on draft, Their “own” brew and bud light.
Great music. Great food. Coldest and cheapest beer around. Dont visit Myrtle Beach without checking out the Bowery. Dont forget the souvenir t shirt or hat. Ask any locals for a recommendation and The Bowery is where they will send you. Weve been coming here since late seventies and wouldnt miss out on a cold beer here on a beach vacation.
The lady at the counter was very helpful and even tried to go find the size I needed for the shirt I wanted
Great live music and love that it’s open late! A perfect stop for a Saturday night out with the girls. The one thing I found very odd was the setup in the bar - the huge area in front of the stage is taken up by tables where you have to sit and listen, no standing allowed. Even late night! If you want to stand and hang out or dance, you have to do so in the back of the room by the bar. Very strange and definitely changes the vibe.
My absolute favorite country bar. Love the people, the band, and the atmosphere. We always come here during our annual Myrtle Beach vacation and we look forward to it every year. Definitely nothing fancy but thats one of the many things we love about it. They have typical bar food but its pretty decent.
Two pool tables... I didnt play very well, but they WERE FUN! AWESOME TIME.
CAUTION!! Wife and I were there sat night 11-6-21 and the little crook bar tender was ripping people off . 4 times we got drinks from him and the 5th time we got drinks it was the lady and drinks were $1.75 cheaper and when I questioned it she shrugged her shoulders and walk away and then neither of them would service our table which was 12ft from the bar so I would walk to the rear bar and the drinks again were $1.75 cheaper . IF he would have refunded me the $7 and admitted his mistake we are very generous when we tip BUT when we left he got $0 and a messy table cause he was also a horrible lazy bar tender as we seen him standing there doing nothing and people waiting on service. We have friends and relatives in the area and we will be sure to pass the word. We will be in the area again soon and will stop to see if things changed and if not we will go elsewhere . (((To the Owner , I would love to see this taken care of because this kid is not only taking from costumers he is stealing from you. I dont know who to privately contact.
Absolutely loved the food, staff and live music.
Fun bar with excellent resident band. Small dance area with tables tightly packed by it.Think band normally start about 8.30 and go on until early hours.Typical bar food reasonably priced.Would go back again when in town .
Russell was our server. He was prompt taking our order but failed to inform us that a slice of cheese was $2.00 on a kids hamburger or pickles cost an extra 50 cents ... smh. The chili cheese fries were gross ... canned chili and canned gooey cheese on cold greasy fries! The poppers were small and cold. Pitiful.... next time I want convenience store food quality I will go to a convenience store. It would be cheaper than the $33 we were charged. When I addressed the bill with Russell he was unapologetic and uncaring. He told me he had worked there for 10 years and didnt know the prices or policies for the bill.
Very small tight place. The food was poor even for bar food. The service was also poor at first and then slightly better toward the end of our visit. The atmosphere was clean but trashy. The restaurant had Flys and gnats flying around inside while we were eating.I chose to visit this place after living here for almost 30 years and never having gone. I wish I had stayed ignorant and just imagined it iconic.
Great place to have fun and catch up some live music
Food was disappointing. Bathrooms were disgusting. And prices were not good. Take your picture and go to the Tiki bar down the street instead.
The band was great. Just wish it was larger with a dance floor.
Stopped in for some pics and a cocktail bought a shirt but attendant was not friendly moved on to a more friendly place
Had an amazing time here. Great performance..❤️
Ate outside. Legendary food and beer. Cannot be missed. The Spitter sauce is addictive.
Thought is was a great place to go from the outside. Walked in the front door and the wait staff asked how many? (Group of 6). The greeter then pointed to a table right by the door and said you can either sit there or outside. So we proceed to sit down indoors. Then the odor of strong cigarette smoke wafted over. Sure enough there were a couple people smoking at the bar right behind us. Not sure of the legality of smoking in a public place, but it definitely made the atmosphere less enjoyable. We ordered some drinks and what the waitress brought out were beers a little bit bigger than a Dixie cup. The ordering process was just, well, a process. It was very loud and the waitress had a hard time hearing us shout across the table. I dont know if the waitress was new, or there was a new system was in place but the waitress was inputting all our orders into an iPad and it definitely was ALOT slower than just writing our order down on a piece of paper. The food came out one at a time as soon as it was done. Not only was one persons order forgotten, but by the time the last person got their food everyone else had finished. Even just trying to get another beer after we were finished eating seemed to be a process... We would order another round of drinks and the waitress would walk away and poke around on the iPad for 5 minutes, then go to the bar and ask for more beers for our table. And the food was ehh... basic bar food. The place was dirty, and the decorations looked like they hadnt been dusted since 1944. This would be a GREAT place for a single drink along the boardwalk... But thats about it.
As I was closing my tab the bartender made a very rude comment!! Then said “I let you stay in here until 2” when. Indeed the bar is open until two. Very immature and disrespectful.
Burgers and fries were great. Wings not so much. Definitely be back for Burgers. service was awesome also. Drink prices said one thing. Bill reflected drinks cost 4 bucks more a piece.
Went here with my family while on vacation, had a great night until we were asked to leave. One of the security guards grabbed me and my sister (both of us girls) slammed us off hard concrete, recorded us on the phone laughing when I tried to swipe the phone out of his hand he grabbed my arm twisted it up my back and handcuffed me. Me and my sister both were arrested, spent a night in a cell for absolutely nothing told we were fighting the security guard. Can’t believe these power hungry abusive men are allowed to work at this place, I will be pressing charges against both security workers and I won’t give up until they are both fired. I have woken up and we cannot walk, we were covered in bruises, my knee is scuffed and my sister has a bruise on her eye because she was thrown off the ground twice she weighs about 110lbs, both being from the UK I am shocked and appalled at the treatment and I do not recommend anyone going here, should be shut down.
This place is never a let down. The nostalgia and the history is so interesting to sit and have a couple of beers, good food, and enjoy the atmosphere.
Awesome bar and great music. Worth a visit when you go to Myrtle Beach. Service was fantastic no matter how busy it got. The girls did an amazing job keeping everyones drinks filled.
Lunch time. Hostess sat me outside per request. Waited a few minutes on service. Bartender saw me outside and inquired if I had been waited on. Nope. She stepped up and took my order. Fried Shrimp in Buffalo sauce. Food came out quickly. Picked up fried shrimp by the tail, and the tail was cold, like refrigerator cold. I bit into the shrimp meat, and it was warm, not hot. When the helpful bartender checked on me, I asked if the shrimp was supposed to be served like this. Nope. Gave me a new order that was hot. Tasty meal. Kudos to the bartender that looked out for the customer. Chef/cook needs to improve.
We did not eat..but the house band is amazing!
Had a super time here! Great live band playing country and western music for the most part - really talented guys! All the staff were very friendly and very helpful all evening. Prices were very reasonable for the beer and cocktails. There was food available which we didnt try!Really nice fun place!
The Bowery is a landmark and speaks for itself, How ever historical its a great place .
My family of 6 went here yesterday afternoon before heading home & it was a disappointing first visit to say the least. Our server wasn’t friendly at all she tried to deter us from even eating there by telling us it was a hour wait for food, they weren’t that busy and I was pretty confused by that statement but we Still decided to stick it out because we were super hungry. I don’t know if she was having a bad day or what was up but the service was terrible. Not once did she ask how our food was or if we needed anything at all & we had to repeatedly ask for condiments & refills. The food was decent hence the fact I’m giving 2 stars & not 1. They do include gratuity here in parties of 5 or more so I’m supposing that’s why she didn’t try to check on us or make sure we were happy. Terrible terrible first experience at The Bowery & not worth the price or experience. Our bill was over 130$& after gratuity added was 170$. We did not leave any extra tip as per usual because of the terrible service & experience. Maybe they need to hire a couple more servers for lunch staff because she seemed stressed & not happy at all. We were super excited to try The Bowery & were going to buy t shirts but honestly I was so disappointed in the quality of service I couldn’t. Hopefully she was just having a off day & they can hire more staff or do better training. 😞
Amazing place! The burger was delicious and it didnt kill our wallet. The music was great too. They do allow smoking indoors, so if thats not something you can overlook I wouldnt go. They do have outdoor seating as well. Highly recommend stopping by.
Nice little cozy place right by the sea to hang out and have some good food. Youll experience the occasional musical band playing for the crowd. We went at a slow season so didnt have the chance to observe a lot. I had fried mahi bites which was really good and fresh and my friend had a burger. I would highly recommend this place.
What a great place on the beach. The bartender Nick gave some great recommendations to other places to check out. The staff on our second visit was amazing as well. The live music was very enjoyable. Thanks for making our first trip to Myrtle Beach enjoyable
Came for a visit from NY and was welcomed by a wonderful bartender Nick and had a blast. Recommend the onion rings and Hebrew National National hot dog! Casamigos Blanco as well that Nick perfectly chilled. 🥰
This place was AWESOME! The Bounty Hunters are a great band. I love that the dont all take a break at the same time. Our waiter, Lip, was the best server we have ever had! He definitely is a great asset to the place! Lip made our experience unforgettable! We will always come here when we visit and recommend it.
Cool atmosphere, good food, cold drinks and the bartender she was awesome! Wish I wouldve gotten her name. Highly recommend the super shrooms, although they dont give ya that good good high they are absolutely delicious! Lol
Great house band! They were very entertaining and played over 5 hours. Drink prices were good and the Mahi basket and cheese curds were good as well.
Good atmosphere and service. Dog friendly. Typical fried foods.
Looking for an original country music bar??? This is the place for you. So much fun, smaller bar with outstanding house band called the Bounty Hunters. We laughed and sang for 4 hours, literally the highlight of my trip to Myrtle Beach!!!!! Great way to spend an evening.
I have been to this bar several times. I always love the experience I have here. Its a wonderful place to walk to and relax with it being located on the Boardwalk. Good bands play here, and great drinks are served. I usually just get a Malibu pinneaple, but they offer a wide variety of cocktails and beers. The last time I was here, my mom came with me, and we stayed for a while listening to one of the bands. The waitress was cool, but I feel like she tried to charge too much on purpose. There were 3 extra beers on the ticket. When we mentioned it, she said wrong ticket and gave us another one but what are the odds someone else was doing double Malibu with pinneaple with someone who was drinking mich ultra at the same time. Idkkk. Still great experience
First time there and we had a blast. I wish I would have ask the bartenders name but she was really friendly and gave great service. Lots of history to look at on the wallls too.
No one greets/seats or tells you anything walking in. Sat ourselves at bar had to keep going to bar to order our drinks even after starting tab. Only towards the end did bartender try to wait on us. Drinks were ok but in little plastic cups. Band was disappointing. After every song it was boring to wait on them 2-3 mins to figure out what they were playing next. Bands usually have a play/set list to know what theyre doing. Overall it was just not a good time.
Very good burger and fries. Along with the live music makes for a laid back entertaining atmosphere. If u come to Myrtle Beach its definitely worth stopping in for a burger and a beer or 3
$9 dollars for Totino’s pizza rolls and the waitress sucked. Lives up to the motto.
Great live music if you like classic country
Brandon and Brandon were the best bar tenders you could ask for. If you go in you need to see the iconic duo. They saved our lives once or twice.
Love this place, if you dont like smoking on the inside, dont go, staff was very nice friendly
Perfect little spot on the boardwalk for a snack and a drink. Server was hilarious and gave us everything we needed. Bloody Mary mix is made in house and delicious!
The Bowery is world renowned famously known for Alabama big break in their music carrer. They have great food at great prices. They also have a great selection of memorobilia for purchase. They have a great live band that takes requests. It does get loud so if your ears are sensative then this is not for you. Their beer is cold as ice. This place is great to visit during Bike week
Great atmosphere. Wonderful staff and servers. Made us feel welcome and we had a great time.
This place has great music but be careful with the bartenders. On my first round he overcharged me by like 8 bucks . I’m guessing they put that in their tip jar on top of my 20 percent tip . Then on the second bill he charged my drinks twice . Food is good and the ppl are nice but they over charge the tourists so be careful.
Might need a little refreshing but still a cool and iconic place. The food was decent but the staff was awesome and even when crowded, they were still attentive. If you are a country music fan, a great place to visit.
