Bowies is AWESOME! Always great live music, fantastic staff, full bar upstairs and down and the food is really good! Even stepping outside for a breather is cool. Loads of people walk by. Music City Stones is a must seek band! Contagan is a great 80s hair metal cover band, catch them on their rare appearances for sure! And Payton is the most fantastic bartender!
Came in after a pub crawl tour with ville tour that had included Bowies. Was completely empty we were the only people there. Music was to hopefully start a bit later. It didnt. Ordered drinks and fried pickles. Took 35 minutes for the pickles. Which only came after another couple came and ordered food and their food came at same time. Chelsea the waitress stopped by the table at the 25 minute mark. Asked if she could bring the check with the food. 10 minutes later still no food. Another person in the group went to the bar to see if we could cancel our kitchen order. She immediately brings the food snaps that we were lucky to get the food this fast. And tossed the checked at me. charge me extra for using a credit card when I was paying cash. Ended up leaving the food it was so over salted. We asked if it could be removed from the bill. No. It was also very hot and weirdly the bathroom was at least 30 degrees colder. I usually tip well when on vacation but she managed to be rude to every person at the table at some point. Walked past hours later looked in still empty. I get if theres an issue in the kitchen but our tour got waffle fries an hour earlier no problem. When the waiststaff is rude when you ask politely its unfortunately on them. Plan on coming back to Nashville but not to Bowies. Went down to Kid Rocks Honky Tonk which had 3 floors and was packed. Drinks arrived in 5 minutes and food in 15 minute. No excuse Bowies. Also didnt appreciate bras hanging on the stage.
This isnt really a cocktail bar the beer selection is just so so and the wine is served in plastic cups. Which is what you would expect from what this place really is....A music venue and when judged as such is a true gem in a city full of honky tonks. If you live your life off the beaten trail then Bowies is for you. Or maybe you just need a break from country and top 40 bangers? We walked in on a Tuesday night to a lounge style diva vocalist and a classicaly trained jazz trombonist absolutely crushing with a soulful bassists and pocket drummer backed them up. What a treat on a Tuesday night for locals with no cover! This is certainly going to become our favorite spot on weeknights they are closed monday but offer live music 6 nights a week!
Metal Mondays with guillotine is the best. The band can play all kinds of awesome rock music and do requests! I like this place so. Much because they have great live bands that arent like every other place in down town, only bar I think with no country! . Great food too I think they just won Nashville best Philly sammich too so Ill have to try that. Bartenders are really cute too, I try to bring out of towners here when they visit
Your word is your bond......straight forward and simple......just not @ Bowies. Traveled 613 miles from FL to give my son, who is already a paid professional singer, to perform @ Bowies. We got there early and he put his name on the list for open mike and secured the second spot. We were then told it was starting an hour later than normal so we agreed to come back, after he sang at a far better small town venue. So we did. The singer/band in first position failed to show so he was first up. Unfortunately, the band did not know many cover songs and so they were going to play two and then he would join the band with Drive by Incubus or Creep by Radiohead. The first band finished and suddenly another band comes on and my son was told he would sing after this band did three songs. I personally watched him shake hands with the manager in charge of open mike. That band finished and he was shoeing the next band on and my Son again asked him why he was not going and received many absurd excuses. My Son had had enough of the abject failure and it was time to leave. We mentioned our sincere displeasure to the waitress and she attempted to engage a male manager, who may have been part owner, and he merely shrugged his shoulders and demonstrated no concern for this outrageous treatment. The waitress was still concerned and grabbed a woman in the back who was likely the wife of the owner and she attempted to bring a resolution. The original buffoon manager suddenly and nervously arrived in the conversation offering excuses, but failing to admit that he had failed to manage the talent appropriately. The woman manager/owner attempted to back her manager saying the band didnt know any of his songs. My Son cut her off and said thats funny because they had two ready to go actually. The management was only interested in having a circular conversation and made no real attempt to address our concerns. The waitress was excellent but David Bowie would not be impressed by the poor services and lack of cleanliness in his dive bar. This management will not survive even if Bowies does which appears unlikely. If you like thrash metal maybe this is your place. Avoid @ all costs. We had a much better time @ Kid Rocks bar a few blocks over.
Perfect venue for rock and roll! Most shows theres NO cover$. Just far enough from Broadway to not be annoyed by Woo Girls, but close enough to walk. Parking is open again in the lot adjacent to the building. Lots of street parking around the block and under city hall. Cant beat the fried pickles and the wings are excellent (coming from a Buffaloian). Chicken Philly and the veggies burger are also faves.
The guy at the bar said the food would take maybe 20 minutes to get. I let him know I had an appointment and only had an hour. I got a bud light and my wife got an all American martini. We ordered the food. After 50 minutes of waiting, I had to leave. I was charged $68 and didnt even taste any food.
Great live music! I ordered a Bowies burger with fries and these fries were amazing! They were hand cut waffle fries that tasted fresh and so freaking delicious! 😋
I loved it, mostly. The female bartenders were way cooler than the dude who did not once ask if I wanted another drink. We were sitting at the bar and he seemed to only want to speak to my fiancé. I let him get his drinks from dude and I walked my happy sled to the friendly woman on the other side of the bar every time I wanted a drink. And I tipped her extra for not being an a-hole.The live music was fun, the energy was great. I feel like the place should have been packed, but it cleared out relatively early. We will definitely go back next time we are in town.
The band Garden of eden was incredible. Food was great. The server was horrible, she only asked the guys for their drink order never once ask any of the woman if they wanted a drink, when we did ask her she acted like we were a problem. Had to get our own drink at the bar. The bartender was super awesome !!
I sat at the bar and ordered a beer to watch a band play. I was enjoying the band and my beer. After about 10-15 minutes, I was rudely told by someone who appeared to work there to get off my seat, as someone else was already sitting there, despite no evidence of the latter. This was appalling, and I felt embarrassed. Will not go there again.
Great little Bar off Broadway. The Closson Brothers played great classic & newer rock, place was not so packed you couldnt stand it, and.prices were reasonable!! We will.be back!!
My friends and I said lets stop by and we ended up staying here for two hours! The bands played rock & roll we had a blast. There is an open floor to dance but the seating is around the stage so you can eat and drink (no crowds)- while the band plays. Walking distance from Broadway without the hustle and bustle but still the same energy.
As locals (live in the city) this has become one of our favorite bars downtown. The food is allways great. The service is the best downtown. The music never disappoints. This is by far the best place to actually have fun.
My friends and I love this place!! We were lucky enough to be there for opening weekend, and ended up back there every single night on our Nashville trip. The bartenders were friendly and welcoming, and the bands were all great! This is forever one of our first and favorite stops in Nashville.
Went for drag brunch, the drag show was amazing. Food service was poor. Waitress was rude and neglectful; put our food down at another table, took it from table to table, back to the bar, and finally to us. Most everything ordered was wrong. Gratuity was included. Our check was altogether, unwilling to separate or provided itemized receipt. I had to go up to the cook to get the forgotten entree. Overall, very frustrating and took away from the drag experience.
Terrible food and drinks but the atmosphere was great. Not sure there was actually alcohol in my cocktail. The band was the best. We ordered chicken strips which were only so-so, also fried pickles which were a mixture of dill and sweet. I am never expecting sweet pickles when I get fried pickles.
We came in last night, left to go check out some other places and CAME BACK. This place is so fun! Rock and Roll!! The staff is all attentive and super friendly. We enjoyed it so much we came back tonight!!! First stop of the night. If you love Rock and Roll, great service and an amazing vibe, Bowies is THE place!!
Dont go to Open Mic on Wednesday nights, clown who runs it is a total Joker! Doesnt follow the sign up list like professionals at other establishments do. This Clown tells people on the list their next, but then lets his buddies cut the line! Terrible food as well. It will most likely close soon!
I have visited Bowies on several occasions and it has become on of my favorite after work stops. With rock roll themed decor and live music, it is a nice change of pace from the country music saturated honkey tonks. The food is standard bar fair, but down well and quality is consistent. The staff is always friendly and service is on point. Tuesdays offers 3 tacos for five dollars and five dollar Margaritas. The upper floor has pool table and classic arcade game. If your downtown and looking for a little bit of rock and roll this is the spot.
We came back in town partly just for the food and atmosphere! Great bartenders and performances! The cheesesteaks, waffle fries, and burger was all amazing. Thanks Bowies, truly!
The location is nice and out of the way from Broadway. Their drink menu is fun, I particularly loved Stairway to Heaven. They have a great stage for live music as well, loved seeing Fish On play there! An awesome rock and roll bar for having a fun time!
Came here last night with a friend from FL who is a HUGE David Bowie fan. Sadly, aside from the big sign out front with the name Bowie, there isnt really anything Bowie about the place. TBH I imagine he would think the place is quite drab. On the bright side, the live band (Rocky Mountain.. something) did some really great covers. Downside again, not a single Bowie song came from them the whole time we were there. Vocalist even lied to my friends face and said there was one coming in the next set, which is the reason we stayed through the next set. There was a 5 dollar cover, but they still had the balls to send around a donation bucket. 5 bucks per head for a band that wont play Bowie in a place called Bowie is plenty. I had ordered a burger with waffle fries for 10 bucks; not a bad price. The fries were really good, thin sliced in a way Id never seen. The burger was good sized, but just bland. I dont think it was seasoned at all. Our server Ashley saved the night for me. She was friendly and as attentive as she could be with how busy it was (they probably could have used another server). Two stars are just for her. If someone there reads this, please pass along the message that shes a beautiful person and shines bright enough to make Bowie proud😎
Awesome atmosphere. Great stage setup for live music thats always playing. The food was REALLY good. And everything was much more affordable than anything youll find down the street on Broadway.
Must have been an off night but this was the worst venue we went to in the four days we were in Nashville. Doorman and his buddy were smoking weed when we walked up to enter didnt care if we were there or not. Food took forever and was stone cold when served, took awhile to correct. Band was a real disappointment after seeing so many great ones up to this point. Even the scant crowd of patrons were sloppy drunk and rude, basically allowed to be that way by the management. Dont recommend and will never set foot inside ever again...
Good live music. Chill vibe. Table seating. A good break from the craziness of Broadway bars. Very nice staff as well. Highly recommend.
Service is fine, drinks are fine, but their food ingredients are the worst. I got waffle fries loaded, and it was literally like taco bell cheese, packet sour cream, and cheap prepackaged bacon bits for $11. Absolutely insane. Place is fine but dont get the food whatever you do
AWESOME STAFF. The bartender/host (Al) was very professional, personable, and took EXCELLENT care of us. He was always attentive to the needs of all the patrons around him, not just the ones he was serving.DELICIOUS FOOD. I had the best grilled chicken sandwich I ever had and the burgers were great. The waffle fries were just a touch too salty, but were otherwise very good.AMAZING BAND. They played mostly covers, but they were clearly very talented and added their own touches to their renditions. The only suggestions I have are to turn the volume down a little because it was too loud for conversation and to position the stage lights such that the audience on the floor and at the bar are not being blinded.
Stumbled on this place because of a Groupon and I’m SO glad we did. Amazing bands, wonderful staff, friendly owner and the drinks and Philly fries were SO good! 🙌🏻
Walked in because we wanted to get away from Broadway and saw the lightning bolt sign from blocks away and stumbled upon an awesome blues/soul/funk band. Exactly what I wanted to walk into in the central downtown area. One of two bars I actually liked! Not a single country song to be heard!
Probably my favorite bar in Nashville out of all the ones Ive visited. Bartenders have all been amazing. Live music has been 10xs better than anything you can find down the street on Broadway.
I live in downtown Nashville and have visited most all of its bars, clubs, karaoke bars and its honky tonks. But when comes to music my favorite is Bowies. Late 60s through the 90s mostly but will take your requests. Owner, Ms. Michelle, has great entertainment! And Ms Peyton serves great drinks and ice cold beer! Great place, great food, great service---- Mitch H.
Took my little brother to Nashville for his 21st bday. We got in on Friday night and stumbled upon this place for dinner. The Philly Steak was awesome and the fries were outstanding. Service was great and they were on the ball. This place is a hidden gem. The music was outstanding a mix of led zeppelin, heart, ac/dc etc. We will definitely be back next time we visit. The band even sang happy bday to my little brother.
Absolutely love Bowies ! It’s the best off broadway place to be .. sometimes you don’t even know who you might bump into in there . I was able to meet the key Boardist from Bon Jovi ! Bands are great , open mic night is cool, everyone is always friendly. I’m a photographer and I can say I can get some great shots of the bands because they have good stage lighting!
Bowies is a top notch club. Michelle and the Staff are always super nice and the food is great and affordable! Bowies is so much better than the normal cliché clubs downtown on Broadway, Bowies encourages and allows Bands that play original music to play and thats a win in my book!
All I have been drinking lately is Patron Silver shots. The Bartender poured me my first shot, it was great. Then another bartender came over a few minutes later, picked up the same Patron bottle from behind the bar, then grabbed the soda gun and filled it up while my bartender a I watched her. I thought to myself WTH! I was disappointed with my next shot of Patron to say the least. I confronted my bartender and had him sample the watered down version. He played it down and denied it. So shady! I cashed out and left.
Nice place. We went on a Sunday night. It was pretty chill. Bartender was our server also. She was really nice and super attentive. Even when it started to get busier, she was still attentive. Band was good.
Service sucked almost as bad as our food !!!! The entertainment was on point, the band absolutely jammed so I would sit at bar and skip on eating next time !!
Music was awesome for a Wednesday night. The band was amazing! Omg in the food. I had the chicken, when I tell you that chicken gave me life. Very flavorful. They are out of the apple crisp but I definitely will be back for it. Very clean bartend was on it! Good clean place to be. And that chicken is worth it on a wholenotha leval.
Ended up in Nashville by chance. Im a Rock n Roll girl and so glad we came across this bar! THIS PLACE ROCKS! Enjoyed excellent live rock music! Plus the food, drinks and service are fantastic!
Great cover music! The drinks are good not watered down and the nashville hot wings were delicious for those that can take the heat.❤
SUCH A FUN BAR! If you love Rock this is the place to go. This was my first time in Nashville and a buddy who lives here said we need to stop by. Highly recommend and since its not directly on broadway youre away from all the woo girls and tourists.
Went for drinks and music. Hard to find a good rock bar these days, but this is one of them. Immaculate sculpture over the stage. Rock-n-roll is what its about. Also is significantly cheaper than bars on Broadway.
Best Rock & Roll bar in Nashville hands down. Great staff, food and live rock music! Highly recommended for something off the beaten path of Broadway. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Amazing venue! Fantastic cocktails. PLEASE bring the Missy Garnett band back!! They were seriously amazing. We didnt want their set to end!
We happened on Bowies and the music drew us in... too early for the crowd.. we were almost the only peeps there. But a great two piece acoustic team was knocking out every thing we asked for. Even though they seemed to have never played them together before. We have a tour planned is the only reason we left. We will go back after! Thanks for the Zeppelin Guys!!
Our bartender was FANTASTIC, completely started out Nashville visit out right. I wish I had gotten his name :( Im a huge Bowie fan, even named my hedgehog Bowie, so this place was a must-stop. And im 100% glad we did!
Bowies is always our go to when we wanna have a night downtown! Great music and vibes. Get away from the typical honkey tonk and rock out at Bowies! Usually busy but without the elbow to elbow and drunk kids bumping into you every second
Im not a huge fan of bars but that one was a lot of fun the Life music was pretty epic that night and the food was killer get the Philly cheese steak
Just had first dinner from Bowie’s! I had the JOAN JETT BURGER (Impossible burger) and it’s worth every penny! This patty is huge! And the wafffle fries are super thin! They are so good! I think I have found my burger spot (and a whole lot more) in Nashville!
This bar would not accept my Iowa ID that showed I was a day from my 22nd birthday. The door guy forced me and my friends out. For the Broadway strip this was the least friendly and worst experience I’ve ever had trying to celebrate my birthday. Don’t waste your time here.
Loved this place! The staff is friendly. Drinks and food are decent priced. The live music was amazing! Lots of space to dance and have fun!
Xx| Our guys ( Burning Yesterday ) played there tonight. All the staff were so very welcoming and took great care of us and our people. Cant wait until the next show!! |xX
The music was good, the location is good, I need to try this at night. By the way the burger needs a little more flavor.
Love this place! Best music. Best stuff. Great food. Can’t beat it! Nice to have a rock club downtown.
I had a great time doing a photoshoot on Monday with a number of gorgeous models. Staff was awesome, food was great, and drinks top shelf
My daughter and I went in this place on our getaway weekend. She picked it out because she is a David Bowie fan. It was a really chill place! Will go again!
Food was tasty. I like the atmosphere of the venue great place to grab a drink and listen to music.
Says late night food but kitchen was closed. Tried to order a couple drinks and was given a much more limited list than what was provided and advertised. Live music was fun. Great set up.
My favorite spot in Nashville! Finally, us rockers have a place to call our own in the downtown area. Great music, great beer, great stage and great service🤘🏽
My boyfriend and I stumbled upon Bowies while waiting for our flight and I must say the atmosphere was awesome! Definitely going to return !
Best (and only) place to go for the alt/rock scene in Nashville. Bar staff are great and the live entertainment is always on point.
Paid $20 for the band to play a song and they skipped over it after watching them talk about it. Bartenders are really good ... Band is main cause for stars
Great food and even better rock n roll! Best venue in Nashville! Staff is awesome! Highly recommend
The band that played there ROCK! this bar was fun and I would definitely recommend this place 👌
This is a great place. The owner is a diamond. Best live music venue in downtown Nashville.
Jam night is one of the best ideas Ive ever seen. House musicians are super talented. Wish we could have stayed longer.
My boyfriend lost his phone at Bowies, they not only returned it but they also charged it for him! What wonderful & thoughtful staff. Thank you so much!
Best Rock bar in Nashville!! Great service great bands!!
Great music. Bartender is awesome. Did not eat here.We had the gentleman in yellow tshirt. Didnt get his name.
I just wanted to give a shout out to the AGM here for being a stand up guy. Hes gone above and beyond to address an issue when he really didnt have to if he did not want to.Thanks for providing a place for great music, and thank you for handling this issue with professionalism and grace.
Best bar in Nashville, so underrated… I could spend my whole life right here right nowShoutout Blackwater Down
Watched the “northern runaways” here. What a set! Great bar for some rock n roll whilst in Nashville!
My go to spot in Nashville every time we visit. Best place to find some serious talent and Great prices. Can’t wait to get back!
Always a fun time. Great drinks, friendly bartenders, and awesome local music.
Loose Lips is amazing...great music fun times.
Amazing fun laid back bar with great food. Tiffany is amazing and will take care of you and the bartenders are fast and very friendly.
Greasy bar food, beer and loud music!!! All the things charleston, sc is lacking. Had a great time and pretty good service considering a packed house with one waitress.
Parking garage right across the street. They have good cover bands, occasionally much better than good. Employees are super friendly.
A cabby by the name of #allangodspeed told me this is the #1 rock club in Nashville, and I got to agree, its a Good Low-key jumpoff from all the same old, same old music on the Broadway strip!
Very cool place, phenomenal beverage selection and great bands day and night! 😎
Nashvilles only true Rock Bar a must see when in Nashville. By far the best bartenders
Great place for Rock Music instead of the same ol country bars on Broadway.
We just had drinks and listened to the live band. The band was really good! The drinks were very affordable.
Drinks were good but the music was horrible!!!! I have never heard such a horrible excuse of q cover band before in my life!
Great atmosphere, a wonderful break from the monotonous honky-tonks! Also the chicken taco special was amazingly yummy!
Great place with perfect live music, good choice of drinks and perfect service.
Fantastic live music venue....great location of the main strip....great staff! Michelle rocks!
Great bar. We got there before the music but the bar staff and food were all great.
Great atmosphere and venue for live rock music!! Good food, too.

Bob the bartender is the best. The atmosphere was great. Service and drinks were great. Go check them out
So much fun, we went twice!! We enjoyed the more rock atmosphere.
Much better now that its a rock bar. Not enough places like this downtown. You might want earplugs.
Great service. Best chicken tenders I have ever had and the waffle fries are so good and thin.
Great drinks, great music, fabulous atmosphere!
Great bar. Loved the music. Our waitress Vanessa was awesome.
Great service and food. Friendly atmosphere and Three Legged Circus really rocked the house.
Walked in and was immediately asked to leave for no reason.Profiled for looking poor. Despicable
Good time. Decent prices. Good music. A chill break from the chaos of Broadway.
Waitress was amazing!! Such a fun vibe.
A great live ROCK and roll venue that serves food and full bar no cover
The best bands and nicest staff. Always a great time!
Hell yeah!! Great place to hear Rock Music!! Must stop by and check out. ❤️
Cool place. Terrible service (lady with pink hair). And got food poisoning.
Great music, good food and drinks. I loved it, will definitely be back!
Always friendly service and its great that Bowies is Away from Broadway! Keep Rocking!
Love this place! Payton and Michelle are the best!
Neat little rock bar amid all the country downtown. Great place!
Saw a badass Zeppelin cover band there! 🤘🎤🎸🎛️🥁⚡
Awful, singer wearing sweat pants and played Nirvana. I absolutely hate Nirvana and who goes on stage in sweatpants?
Nothing spectacular about the food, but the live entertainment was AMAZING!
Amazing live entertainment! A must go to on your visit to Nashville.
Really cool place to go, great prices, great live music and unique decor.
This place is amazing! Food and drinks for less than 2 drinks on Broadway
The owner is a doll and they always have great bands there
Hands down, best club, and staff in Nashville, my wife and always make this our main destination when we come to Nashville
Drinks were overpriced for a dive with a less than pleasant atmosphere
