Great little spot right off of Bourbon street. Didnt realize it was a gay bar till we went in and we were there right when they opened so no dancers😢Bartender was super friendly, very attentive and knowledgeable about the city with some great recommendations. The Happy Hour deals are pretty hard to beat and the hour is from 12-7pm!!
Golden. Often described as John Waters’ favourite gay bar anywhere, and it makes sense… Assorted men in jockstraps parading on the bar, periodically and artfully crouching so that people can slip dollar bills into anywhere they will stay put. A scene and a half, and really friendly. Love it!
Wife and I stopped in multiple times to cool off during the heat of the days and have a couple of drinks. Great little local bar. Gary was pleasant with conversation and local recommendations. The drinks were strong and the beers were cheap. Highly recommended to stop here with your patronage. You may even see a parade go by like we did, who knows!
Respect the entertainers and staff and you will be greeted with open arms...and legs! The bartenders were fantastic and poured great drinks and had good humor. My friend and I may have put a couple of the dancers through college during our visit and it was well worth it. We each had our favorites but every single dancer was awesome!UPDATE SEPT 2023: Still just as fantastic and fun!!!!!! Bartenders and dancers are still very friendly and the clientele will also strike up a fun conversation with you!
Me and my boyfriend were visiting from Philadelphia, we had a great time. The bartender, Ashley, I believe, was very welcoming and gave us great food recommendations. The drinks were perfect, affordable and desirable. The other bar guests were also very kind and sociable. I will definitely be going back next time I visit. ◡̈
Had a fun night here. Only down sides be $5 entry free and bar being cash only. Dancers were friendly and a lot more raunchy n touchy than expected. Drinks were cheap, $6 for a Vodka n coke free pour.
This is true to their name! Its a smaller bar with dancing boys, decently priced drinks, and a great experience. Its cash only and they do have an ATM.
Casual neighborhood bar during the day that kicks up to a lively bar with dancers at night. The owner and bar staff are very friendly and welcoming. My favorite bar in New Orleans!
The bartendergave me a disgusted look and yelled at me when I asked for a water saying he was there to make money and then accused me of coming in without paying the cover charge and of course Iof course did pay. He then gave me a water and made a noise of disgust before turning away.
Drinks are strong, yet super affordable, especially for a bar in the Quarter. Since this is literally steps to my front door, Ive stopped in multiple times and both the bartenders are always friendly and welcoming. Full disclosure, Ive only stopped by during happy hour, but at that time of the day, the vibe is always amazingly chill and everyone is super friendly making the Corner Pocket my very mostest favorite neighborhood gay bar.
A splendid respite from life with happy people who like to dance.
Don’t go if you are in a mixed group!! I was part of a bachelor party for my favorite gay couple. We were a group of 3 girls and 7 guys. I walked in first, and made sure to follow the rules. My cellphone in my purse, ID plus money in hand. The bouncer gave me a weird look, took my ID and asked me where my male escort was... this question threw me off but I opened the door behind me, pointed outside, and told him that I was part of a bachelor party of 3 girls and 7 guys. I grabbed the hand of the closed dude in our group. He gave the bouncer his ID, and then the bouncer asked my friend what my name was, he answered correctly. “No! Get out,” he yelled at the both of us. Confused we went out to talk to the rest of the party. One of grooms went in to explain the situation, and the bouncer at the door lost it, and kicked him out. I did notice that there was no women inside. I guess to be a patron you have to physically look like a dude. I get the hesitation to let women into gay clubs. You don’t want straight women taking over spaces that don’t belong to them. In this case I was with a group to celebrate a male gay couple getting married! This put a damper on the night, since we had to walk away from the rest of the fun bars to get there. I wish we were warned about their prejudices (which are both illegal and ironic), we wouldn’t have even bothered to go.
After a couple of trips to New Orleans I can say without a shadow of a doubt that this is the most fun bar in town. For some they may think its sleazy. For those people I ask ... What did you expect from a gay bar? Class and sophistication? The dancers were cute, the drinks reasonable, and the whole atmosphere was relaxed and fun. Got to meet the guy running the bar, and hes a cool guy so stop and chat with him if you get the chance. The dancers were some of the nicest people I met in New Orleans. No need to be shy with them, and be generous. They work hard for the money. Then again its hard to NOT be generous here! :)
Was in New Orleans for the first time and went here each night of our stay(3 nights) Had a great time! Drink prices seemed reasonable and we weren’t charged a cover unlike how was mentioned in a previous review from someone else’s review post. Not sure if they charge one during peak times of the year but at least not for us at the end of February. Some guys were sexier than others, but that’s par for the course I’d say.
Great stop we happened upon after a Cemetary tour when we needed a cold beer and some shade! We were there during the day, so no dancers lol and we had no idea until we got in it was a gay bar! Gary welcomed us straight folks with open arms, cold beer and great conversation and recommendations for later on! We have dinner reservations at Adolfo’s thanks to him! 4 stars only because we were starving, and there was no food...no problem though! Don’t be intimidated, great place, very clean and friendly!
The dancers a little more aggressive for my taste. But, this was a great bar to drink at. The bartenders are really great, very attentive and the guys are nice to look at. They run all colors and body types with frequent wardrobe changes (aka change their undies). There is a resident DJ playing some tunes and also a pool table in the back.
I am just home from my vaction in New Orleans to celebrate my birthday, and I have to say this place was my favorite! The bar staff was nice and helpful, and the dancers.... let me just say I have not met a nicer bunch of guys in some time! Last night being my last night there I was a little down and 3 dancers tried their best to keep me in a good mood. I want to say further that Nate was by far the sweetest of them all (thanks for the birthday lap dance) I was glad I was able to hang with him after healing from breaking his ankle. If you guys there at The Corner Pocket see this please give my best to Nate! Nate if you ever decide you wanna come visit Dallas you let me know and Ill return your kindness! Thanks again guys and keep up the good work and know I will be telling every one that will listen how great I think you are!!!
Not your typical French Quarter gay bar experience. Drinks are cheap but expect a cover during busy times like Southern Decadence. Dancers are generally friendly, though some will only give you just enough attention to give a tip before moving down the bar to flirt with the next customer.Dont use your phone here - at all. Theyre very strict about no photos ( some of the dancers may have or eventually seek professional careers and wouldnt want a patrons snuck shirtless pic to potentially derail their aspirations ). Just come to enjoy the unique atmosphere, conversation with your friends, and the sensory overload of hot, shirtless guys of all kinds.
Had a great time! It was our third stop of the night. I wish it had been our first (and only). The dancers were super friendly most everyone of them made a point of talking to us...Christian (shared a story about driving through VA), Zach, Caleb, did I mention CHRISTIAN! Wish i remembered more names but so many took time to chat with us that I cant.... But did i mention Christian?! ). But i definitely recommend. It is not the flashiest bar but definitely one of the better bars!
Cool place, the guys are awesome. We had a really good time and really enjoyed the company of a certain blonde cutie ❤️
My wife and father-in-law and myself dropped in in the early afternoon and enjoyed one-dollar beer, top-notch service and good conversation for a few relaxing hours. We left before the entertainment began (not our scene), but our afternoon there was time well spent.
Fair warning, in December 2010 a friend and I were roofied here. A big older guy with a beard who introduced himself as the owner of the bar (you know who Im talking about if youve come here more than once. I cant speak to his stake in the bar but hes definitely in a position of authority.) and was able to conjure free drinks with a word to the bartender did so to conjure us two drinks. Both myself and my friend were unable to finish even the first drink because whatever was in it hit us so fast and hard. Luckily I was able to regain enough composure after about 45 minutes faceplanted on the bar with this creep chatting/feeling me up to escape to the bathroom, where I found my friend puking violently after his half a drink. We beat a hasty and shambling retreat, wandering lost through New Orleans at 1am with no sense of direction or balance. It took about 4 hours to come down from the effects of my one drink. The next day the big bearded guy who apparently owns this place called me, having got my number while I was incapacitated, and let me know that after we left he followed us in his car to make sure we were okay because we were pretty messed up. To me this read more like sized us up to see if we were still candidates for rape.Anyway, the Corner Pocket might be a fun dive if youre older and just want some bar coke and nasty strippers to grind on, but I would strongly advise cute men in their twenties to steer clear for personal safety reasons. Do not risk coming here alone or with people you dont trust to watch out for your safety. I wouldnt slander this fun establishment if the evidence didnt strongly point to management being a scumbag rapist.
This place was great to me! I was visiting from outta state n it was daytime so I thought I was not gonna have problems but I started to be spooked by a man who was following me around (I am a small female) I had passed this bar earlier doing a tour so my husband new where it was (he had taken our daughter to do a few things I wasn’t interested in. I just wanted to get out n have lunch while they were gone. Anyway sense he new where this was n it was close I went in n told the bartender about my issue and asked if I could wait there till my husband came which might be a bit. They were all so kind to me, told me I was welcome to stay as long as needed. I had great conversation, friendly n fun, clean with great music. I can’t thank you guys enough for giving me a welcomed n safe place to hang until my husband could get there. N the prices where great for drinks. I will always come say hi n enjoy some friendly drinks here every time I come n always remember the kindness I was shown when scared
I liked this place a lot. Old school gay bar. I got a delicious Red Bull. The place made me h0rn€y
While yes there are some cute dancers here, running the gamut of colors/body shapes (all twinked/worked out tho), and its a decent space to hang out in, overall could have been much better. Why? Got the feeling that at 42, I was too young to be in there...when I walk in with a pocket full of money, willing to say thanks for cute dancing/dancers, and I walk out with most of it, somethings a bit off.Seemed like I was at a bar filled with locals, where I wasnt really welcome because I dont hang out there every (Fri) night. I dont expect every dancer in the bar to drool on me, but in general they seemed interested in the 55+ guys only...maybe they didnt think Id pay to play?Yes, I did have a couple guys come up to me, but it was like trying to get the attention of a room of 5 year olds amped up on Pixie Stix and soda; some of them could barely pay attention to anything but themselves, or each other.Patrons were generally nice, with a mix of men, women, gays, bis, str8s and so on. Bar service is about what you expect from a loud stripper bar with dancers on it; back bar was more convenient. Yes, there was a weekend cover, since people bar hop and its probably a good way for them to make easy cash.Id say give it a try, but dont exactly expect a warm welcome, even if you have a large bulge...of $10s & $20s in your pocket. (And thanks to the one stripper who wanted to take me home...Mr. Ill Be Back In A Minute probably forgot when he was riding another guy, lol )
New Orleans Staple with the best staff. Tip well and treat everyone with respect. Ashlee and Bruce are absolute sweethearts.
Love this place. Everybody is alweys so nice.i come back to this town every single Month n enjoy this place. So sad this bartender is alweys looking so angry to us. It was a bad understanding with my friend n i was trying to explane him n he told me no im sorry n that we havent buy any drinks n i just had like 10 mins there n of course í can buy the drinks 😠. Looks like that bartender isnt making money but that is not my fault. He is in his 40 n gray hair . Be carefully 😖
Had a lot of fun there everyone was very nice. I can’t remember this one dancers name but he was my favorite lol he was wearing a grey zip down jacket so cute.
Love this place. I always come back to it when I visit New Orleans.
These people are darling! Everyone was super friendly. The dancers are adorable! Very welcoming place! Enjoyed our visit immensely.
Tuesday night, 1030pm, approximately 8 customers in the bar and it still took close to 10 minutes to be waited on by the bartender....I could understand if there were a ton of complicated drinks he was making but it was mostly beers and shots I myself ordered a Coke and the weight wouldnt have be bad if I would at least have been acknowledged
A real find in NOLA I was previously unaware of. The Corner Pocket is a small gay bar distinguished by its ***VERY*** friendly dancing boys - all sizes, shapes, and ethnicities. Lots of fun!
Ashley Jeremy rob are the top bartenders the dancers they well pull there own flare but its like a great place to relax and enjoy a vacation be 5 starts if there wasnt a drama queen bartender Anthony sucks he takes his personal life to the bar no one needs his baggage at the bar he chases off customers and the dancers people come for ask all the dancers and get your votes
Definitely my favorite place to go while visiting! The guys make you feel at home! A great show to experience 💙💙
Sucky bar. Bar manager claimed to come in my face and then a dancer came down and got in my face for my straight friend dancing better than any dancer in there. Extremely unprofessional.
Its the only place in the French quarter where you dont have to not be yourself and leave with a happy ending!Ask these friends & show stoppersHappiness served Southern style & their pants down
This is no doubt my favorite gay pub/strip club in town. I went there 3 nights in a row LOL. The guys are more accesible and younger than the other venues.
Had a great time during Mardi Gras. The dancers and bartender were nice and friendly . Will definitely be back!!!
Great little gay dive bar, the dancers are pretty friendly, and the drinks are reasonable priced for the quarter.
25 minutes to get a refill on a drink. The bartender was too busy flirting. Seven people at the bar beside us. No excuse. When we finally did something he actually said , Dont give me attitude.
Place is very fun. Owner is a great guy
Felt fairly out of place while there. Seemed to primarily be an older gents crowd. Expect a $5 cover, and cash only bar.
These people that work there do not like you if you are not gay ! And rude as hell to locals. Go down the street to were they care about what it means to be from New Orleans.
Should be called the Chicken Coop! If you like half naked very young men, this has the market CORNER-ed in go-go boy bar dancers.
Great atmosphere and friendly people!
Horrible experience waited for over a half hour for a drink. Multiple people came up after us and got waited on before us. Need more bartenders obviously not prepared for the crowd.
Duck you.
Worst go go bar Ive ever been to. They charge a cover and have over priced drinks. Dancers arent cute and the place is tiny
Had so much fun here even though it is difficult to socialize with Covid-19.. staff still made it fun.
A nice little sad, sick, petting zoo. 😜Cheap strong drinks and a relaxed atmosphere
Quality of entertainment has definitely gone downhill a bit lol. Oh well such is life
Justin is the absolute best bartender in the city and we had a wonderful experience at the bar!
Great fun. Wonderful drinks, friendly bartender and dancers.
Great dancers! Dont leave Nawlins with out a visit here.
You know, reality! If you don’t want a New Orleans experience, just stay home. No one sent for you!
Better dancers please but the drink cheap and good!
I enjoy the warmth of the bartenders the friendliness of the staff and the strong drinks
A touch of the wild side. I do mean wild not for anyone that embarrases easily or doesnt like oysters and escargo. 🐝🐬🐩
This place is very unique. Definitely a neighborhood bar.
A classy establishment with many gifted young men showing you their many talents.
Not my cup of tea, it could be a fun place if you have a pocket full of money for the boys working there.
This is the most disgusting place Ive ever been to in my entire life not to mention the acts that are performed there are 100 percent illegal.
Hot boys and cold beer, great fun!
Great Bartenders, Dancers, and place to hang out to have fun
Great relaxed bar..... Great atmosphere and very friendly
Horrible old guys
Some fun guys lots of tease, nice and easy.
Hustlers?? Or very aggressive dancers...did not enjoy it
Good little bar in the French Quarter with male dancers
The dancers are awesome and very friendly....
Nice bar. Baretenders friendly
One of the best during southern decadence
Fun, fantastic boys, and friendly.
Great place to hang out!
Great male gay strip bar
Unfriendly staff. Bad experience.
Very fun time.
