We first dined at the restaurant. The food was okay. Its not what I expected for the price. The live show after was awesome. Allen Stone crew put on an amazing show. The acoustics were top-notch. Service in the VIP section was as expected. Never had to find anyone for anything. Show started much later than advertised. Expect to wait , have a few drinks, and make sure your parking times are adjusted for this. This city will boot your ride with a smile. Will definitely be back for future shows.
I had a great meal. That jambalaya was amazing and I paid extra to add shrimp. The corn bread was decent but too much for 1 person. I thought price was fair for the main. Cool spot stayed for a little music. Service was phenomenal, as I had a gem of a server and a bunch of laughs. Made the meal even better.
The House of Blues Restaurant and Bar is a large venue with a capacity of eighteen-hundred. The entertainment is first class and every seat in the house is a good one. The bar is large, well stocked and with a great staff to get your drinks to you. Maybe best of all is the decor which is eclectic and definitely over the top. Just looking at the old billboards and pictures could take some time. This place is an experience you will love.
I paid a visit to New Orleans a few days back and after checking out the city all day, It was time for some beers, live music and grub! That’s exactly what I got at the New Orleans House of Blues!I was served by a lovely bartender lady named Ace who gave me a fun and informative insight on the area and various places to visit before I leave! We talked for hours and had a blast! She is super nice so if you make your way there, make sure to tip her good! She knows all the cool stuff in the area!!As for the food, the burger was fresh, hot and full of flavor BIG PORTION and crispy nicely seasoned fries to go along with my burger and beers! Their menu is full of delicious foods and great booze!Outside of the House of Blues is the Voodoo Garden, make sure you stop by there too!Overall, if you’re in New Orleans! Ya gots to head over to the House of Blues! For a meal and beers you’ll spend at least $30, but bring at least $50-$100 so you can get a good meal, tip the bartenders and tip the band that’s playing!Support your scene! 😁
I usually never make google reviews but I absolutely needed to this time. Me and my husband have came here for concerts/raves about 4 to 5 times in the past three years. We’ve always have had a great experience up until last night. Before I go on to say the negative I would like to say that all of the staff we encountered last night were very sweet and we’re doing their best job. The bands sounded great as well. But there was absolutely no AC on whatsoever. I have been to many metal concerts and sure they get heated, but not to this extent. I even was drinking iced water and it was not helping. We were also in the back upstairs so we weren’t even in the crowded areas at all. At some point I started feeling like I was going to pass out so I thought maybe if I went to the restroom I could cool off a bit, but nope, it was just as hot as it was in the rest of the building. While in the bathroom I also overheard a group of girls who were talking about how crazy hot it was and how they’ve also have been here plenty of times and never experienced this. We ended up having to leave early because I couldn’t get an ounce of cool air and I kept feeling lightheaded. We were supposed to go to another metal concert tomorrow but I am glad we have changed our mind about going. House of Blues, please change this, this was absolutely not okay and if you are having ac problems than do not host the concerts. If I’m only 130lbs and feeling this than I know everyone else must be miserable too!
We really enjoyed our stay in this restaurant. My cocktail (hurricane) was really good and the food was really tasty. We can highly recommend the voodo shrimp and the seafood gumbo. the portion size of the dish was very good. very good price-performance ratio. we can highly recommend the House of blues. well meet again. Thanks to our great waitress (Nick)
We made reservations ahead of time but it wasnt crowded at all when we went. There is a beautiful interior section as well as cute outdoor section with music and bar. The live band was great, and they played happy birthday for my brother-in-law. The food was good as well, our waitress Jolie was the best. All of the drinks were good and well mixed. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone!
Good Jazz bar and great food. I had the fried okra which I would highly recommend and my friends had chicken wings. The only thing was we are from Britain and gave a 15% tip, the waitress came back to us to ask us what was wrong with the service...how much is expected here?? It wasnt cheap to begin with, Im not sure what is expected here. If they want a certain percent, thai should be clearer.
The wait is pretty long for the food and especially the drinks. The Hurricane was almost undrinkable. It was very strong. You just have to keep stirring it to try to mix it better. My sister in law said that the espresso martini was delicious. We were kind of surprised at how small of a piece of key lime pie they gave her. They charged her $9 for that tiny piece. That was our biggest complaint. But other than that my steak was cooked perfectly. Its really hard to get a good MW steak and they nailed it. The cajun pasta has great flavor. We were expecting to hear blues and it was more like heavy metal.
Small venue in the Parish Room. 26 ounce beers are $14. Saw Mystery Skulls in July. Super loud. Was glad I had in ear hearing protection. Bathrooms were clean and tidy. Very long staircase up to the venue itself. Very helpful and friendly staff from security to bartender.
What an amazing venue! We went the last Sunday of Jazz Fess for Kermit Ruffins and Rebirth and were not disappointed ! Very organized to get in, side note for the ladies purses are allowed- I had a small cross body just had to open it so they could look inside . At the door show your tickets , I had ours on my phone , you get a wrist band and are good for entry! 3 large bar areas on ground floor. Drinks are on the high side but not out of line for that kind of venue! We had a great time and cant wait to go back again to try the food !
Went to a private party on the back patio area. Great spot for an event like this. The food was very good. Although the selection was a little limited. Im thinking this was due to my companys selections. Multiple bars were open, so no waiting. Highly recommended!
Exceptionally bad service. Took more than 15 minutes to get greeted by server. Restaurant wasnt even crowded. Forgot salad. Delivered food without utensils and then disappeared so quickly we couldnt ask. Ended up having to walk up to servers station to ask another waitress for utensils. If at house of blues, skip this restaurant and go to the foundation room instead for a much better experience . Wont be back.
Attended the 2022 Interview with a Vampire Halloween party. It was off the chain! Costumes were incredible! Lots of fun themed cocktails and a crazy night of entertainment! Not for the faint of heart or single minded folk. Very explicit entertainment, and if that’s not your thing there were other options to explore. Once in a lifetime experience for a first-timer to NOLA.
Our first time eating in the restaurant and going to a concert at HOB. Our server was attentive a sweet and gave menu recommendations. Food portions are generous and we were able to take our dinner beverages into the concert venue. We saw the Silversun Pickups and they put on an amazing show! This is a very intimate venue and there is a good view of the stage from almost anywhere.
The guy with the beard was awesome. Food was good depending on what you get. I loved the gumbo and the mac and cheese was dry and not enough seasonings and small portion. We had to send food back 3 times from mess ups took a long while. One of our friends is gluten free age was still given food that had gluten she ended up getting sick being in pain her stomach swelled up. I dont recommend the dry mac and cheese. Our waitress was rushing us just wasnt the best experience. The manager was a nice gentleman. Wouldnt come back.
While in NOLA during Halloween we stopped into the House of Blues for some drinks. Let me first say that this place is so freaking cool and the vibe is even cooler. The staff was friendly, great and made some excellent drinks for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit at the House of Blues and will now become one of our favorite stops when we visit NOLA.
Was disappointed in my recent visit - expected more from the NOLA location. Had a house old fashioned - no large format ice, so diluted quickly. Ordered baby back ribs - the bark was charred to a crisp, and difficult to chew - almost inedible. Appetizers were good, and the service was pretty good, but overall, not a great experience.
Restaurant: very savory jambalya with a healthy portion of shrimp and sausage, gumbo seemed a little salty, and everything had a good kick.Venue: always opt for VIP. However, the smaller, intimate venue provides a great experience regardless. Two bars downstairs and one upstairs with food options (which is nice). I would watch any artist in this venue.
The House of Blues is a music venue in New Orleans w| various shows all the time. If you’re ever in the city it’s definitely a nice spot to catch a live band! Last night Kermit had to play for the annual holiday show put on by Dr. Price. It is always a great vibe when I visit. Service can be iffy at times but “okay”. I would recommend finding out what bands are going on and visiting. Perfect for a good time in the city!!
Came here from Mobile on 5/8/24 to see The Amity Affliction. Normally I drive to Atlanta to see them. They had a NOLA date on their tour this time and its closer to me so I figured why not, and I ended up completely regretting that choice. This was the most miserable concert experience of my life. Please beware if you plan on coming here. The building very clearly did NOT have a working AC. They had 2 giant fans at the front blowing around the thick, hot air. Thats it. I will say that the staff were sweet and checked on us, they came to the front and passed out bottled waters almost throughout the entire show. I witnessed several people pass out or on the verge of passing out. The air was so thick and hot that I felt claustrophobic and almost passed out before my favorite band even came on stage. I had to pour at least 3 of those bottled waters on my body in an attempt to stay cool. Drinking water just wasnt enough. Highly disappointing and shame on you House of Blues for putting people through this. That was absolutely not okay. I will never give you my business again and wouldnt recommend you to anyone. But THANK YOU Mugshot, Dying Wish, Currents, and The Amity Affliction for the amazing performance, despite everything. We love you. Please do come back to NOLA, just not this place, there are tons of better venues.
Restraunt is separate from the bar / voodoo garden area just fyi. And the Restraunt is only open a few days a week. Check the hours.Bar food was good, we had lemon chicken strips, they were fairly skinning but man they were good and tender.Drinks were good, I had a hurricane, and was pretty happy with it. But the bartender was nice and said he could make just about anything ... 😏
Came to see Thievery Corporation here. First time at a house of blues! We had a great experience! Got there early to reserve good seats in front of the stage, standing room. It is possible to reserve, and have dinner as well but we opted for the general admission. It was a great experience, would love to come back for other shows
Great atmosphere especially if you love blues. Was not overly impressed about the food voodoo shrimp came with cornbread that was cold, jambalaya was a little bland. I will say that the blues band was jamming it out though
$14. Beers, while they are 16ounces, they were WARM. One of the womens bathrooms were closed. Standing room only when youre short sux, male bartender upstairs, guessing in his 50s was a grouch. We left earlier, maybe it was our loss, who knows but $14. WARM beers in June drove me out of there. For a cover band, it was $59.pp
Visited the HoB while on a recent trip in New Orleans, and while the food didnt disappoint - with tasty meals and generous portions - the service was unfortunately lacking. An alleged error with the system meant that our food order didnt go through. And we found that the drinks which were implied to be complimentary in recognition of this were in fact not, evident when the bill came. When the food eventually came , we had to ask for cutlery twice. The room was too cold, despite the very warm evening, (air con up too high and we werent the only diners putting on jackets and shivering). We were seated in the restaurant and the music from the bar at the back was loud - fine for us but if youre looking for a quiet evening meal, this isnt the place. The problem did come however when a band started up at the other end of the restaurant and it became an absolute din of clashing noise.Food was lovely but the service and venue would stop us returning
Very labyrinthine, maze-like interior, live music all the time, elaborately painted in classic New Orleans style. Staff is very friendly, and drinks are well made. It is definitely a place you want to include on your trip to New Orleans. Just beware parking anywhere in the French Quarter is atrocious, especially in the evening.
Had an amazing time at the Madness After Dark event hosted by the NCAA and Wendy’s! From the red carpet and specialty Hurri•Kane Lemonade to the surprise concert by Darius Rucker, this was definitely a night to remember!!! It was my first time attending a concert at any House of Blues venue, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Every space was a great view and I absolutely loved the vibe and decor.
VIP is the best way to go. We had outstanding service from the restaurant to the very end of our evening. I suffer severe panic/anxiety attacks and they made sure that my safety and care was top on their list. We will return in the future if not for concerts it will be for food. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening with my boyfriend.
We had a private meeting here and we were originally in the lower floor room. It was fine st first, and then the male toilet backed up and the entire place smelled HORRIBLE. They moved us up to the upstairs room, where I believe they do a VIP thing in there on normal nights, but was much larger and comfortable. You could hear every sound made in the restroom in the main meeting room, and for normal times where three is a lot of people and music Im sure it wouldnt matter. The decor was very interesting and artistic. Loved the subtle humor mixed in with the traditional religious pieces. They did provide everyone with vouchers for a future show, and VIP access for the inconvenience. Though many were not local, it was a nice gesture.
This is about the club/concert hall and not the restaurant. It is a nice venue. Sound is good. They book good bands and they had booked one of my favorites this past weekend. All good until now. However... The whole things almost feels a bit like a scam. My first frustration is that there was an unannounced opening act. I looked through their website and others wondering about this. No opening act was not announced. Not on HoBs website and not on Fest After Darks and not on Live Nations. Nope. You had to go to the venue to see the poster. On top, HoBs website states that shows start on time and I can tell you that they dont. The show start time was 8:00 and the opening act started at 8:40. The main band was on stage at 10:00. Yes, two hours after they were supposed to. I live in Nola, so I know how this works, but at least announce that there is a (terrible) opening act so that I can show up two hours late. Seriously. Your venue is not exactly a place to enjoy a couple of drinks with friends. It is a concert venue. You may ask: what is wrong with you, why not have a couple of drinks and enjoy yourself? Well, I would, but a cocktail with two ounces of bottom shelf vodka and tons of sugar was $20. You can get a double pour of Jim Beam in a plastic cup for $15. They also sold way too many floor tickets (not sure it was fire safe) and it wasnt that easy to get to the bars. I found myself wondering why there was so much vaping of pot in the place and then realized that it is because the booze is so expensive...My recommendation if you have to go because it is a band you like: buy VIP tickets if you can afford them; arrive about 90 minutes after the announced start time; and spend those extra 90 minutes drinking elsewhere.
If you are not 6 feet tall, if you dont arrive when doors open, or if you dont pay extra to get VIP seating, do not expect to see the band. The sightlines are horrible and the stage is too low. This is not a venue where you can stand in the back and still see the band. Our only option was to hang out in the Foundation Room and watch the band on a video screen. So we left after two songs. Why would I pay money to watch a video plus paying inflated prices for bad drinks? We wont be back.
Restaurant was convenient for the concert and food was okay. The concert venue was terrific. Not too large so all the seats felt close.
Our server Katie (Katelyn) and the hostess Nikki were amazing. They made it an experience for sure. Katie gave us insight to the local traditions of NOLA whole Nikki made us feel beyond comfortable during our stay. When I return to NOLA, Ill definitely be returning to the HOB.I originally ordered the New Orleans Pasta and it had very little meat and plenty of lemon zest which didnt taste right. I then ordered the Fried chicken and to my surprise, it was bland. I asked my server to bring out sauces to help dress it up and that did the trick. The Hurricane was decent but $14.I fell in love with the carvings of the soul artists in the ceiling.
I went to go see the Sabrina Claudio concert. I get there and the website I bought the tickets from was down. I was directed to the ticket window. They were able to print up my tickets with no problem a few minutes later. Wanted to get some food. The Yardbird sandwich was delicious. Wanted a mojito but they were out of mint but the hurricane was just as good. My bartender/waitress was super cool. Get to the concert and the opening act was on stage. Regret missing the first 15 minutes. Head upstairs. The sound and the view are both great. Got VIP tickets and head to my seats. Overlooking the stage on the right hand side. Perfect view. Enjoyed Sabrina Claudios performance. The night started a little rough but the entire experience from House of Blues was perfect. Would definitely do again.
My friend ordered gluten free but something had gluten in it because she had a severe reaction and became very ill. My Mac n cheese was flavorless. The chicken sandwiches were way too salty. Our waitress seemed annoyed right from the jump.
Had a private event in the Parrish room and went wonderfully. Staff was amazing and compliments from corporate attendees. (Thats hard to do.)
Great relaxed atmosphere with live music. Bar staff were lovely and attentive in the Voodoo garden, bringing drinks ordered at the bar over to our table. One staff member was a bit rude inside when I asked for directions to the bathroom and inside seemed to lack vibe in comparison to the Voodoo Bar. There are overhead heaters outside, drinks and food were reasonably priced, plenty of seating on a Saturday night in March. A short walk from Bourbon Street, which we were happy to get away from. Would visit again!
Our first time at House of Blues New Orleans (had been to one on California). We had reservations and were taken in as soon as they opened. Our server was amazing, friendly young woman with a lot of pep in her step! They seemed to be out of a few menu items which was unfortunate but, we made it work and both enjoyed the jambalaya. The jalapeño corn bread is a must + their simple spring like salad was super fresh (just missing the Fiji apples). They were also out of their house wines, but the alternative was just fine.Despite having dinner there + tickets to the Teddy Swims show that evening, we had to leave the restaurant and get in line on the street. This hasn’t been a HOB practice so not sure why this has changed but definitely very odd.Overall was a great evening but would encourage the HOB to revisit some of the minor inconveniences mentioned. It’s an experience — a bit of an interrupted one though.
Paid a lot of extra money to get vip upgrade tickets to a show which gives you access to the foundation room. We were seated at the bar and treated awesome by the bartender, once our table opened up we sat there for 20 minutes with waitresses walking past ignoring us so we finally returned to the bar. Food was ok but very small portions. Once we got to the concert about halfway through we noticed tons of people being allowed in to the seats in front of us for free once the original seat holders left. Definitely would not recommend wasting your money to upgrade to vip here. 3 stars because the venue itself is pretty neat and has potential for 5.
Was in town for the amity affliction, walked into house of blues and immediately got hit with the smell of pee, it was humid and all their ac was off. Didn’t know they were renovating until this morning. I had to leave early bc my wife almost passed out. Near sold out show and people are being taken away by ambulances for heat stroke but they never thought about moving the show to a different venue because they want to make their money. Even the bartenders looked like they were about to pass out. Miserable experience and the only saving grace were the bands. Mugshot, Dying wish, TAA; you guys were fantastic. Hopefully it isn’t your last time through Nola
The staff was very professional and kept everything in line. They were very straight forward and made sure everybody was safe. The event we went to was very organized and well put together. The drinks were amazing and I even got a free one because the bar tender made a mistake with too much of something in a glass. The experience will last in my mind and I would 1000% recommend going to this venue for a great experience. They made it very immersive and were friendly every time I asked questions. We went to the Endless Nights Vampire Ball.
KELLLLIIIIIIIIII!!!!! There is no other word other than Kelli Riley. I’m so grateful for her and her tenacity to put together one of the greatest nights of our lives. We didn’t know how we would pull it off, and frankly I was ready to throw in the towel. But Kelli kept the faith. She treated us like family and I’m so grateful for her. If you’re thinking about an event, she’s definitely the one to call. I wouldn’t want to work with anyone else. Kelli, thank you again. We really appreciate you. Good customer service will keep me coming back every single time. Oh and the food was delicious as well. Everything she promised, she delivered on and then some!
I was here a year ago when the venue was under construction. The venue has since been upgraded and it was a much better experience this time around. I have yet to go to a concert outside of the Parish so I can’t speak on the main stage. The downside about the Parish is that it is standing room only. However, you can see the act from just about anywhere in the room. It can get pretty crowded if the act is well-known. There is a bench to sit on near the bar, but you won’t really be able to see.Restaurant was pretty good too, we were able to enjoy some food and even live blues entertainment before the show.
My food was horrible. I couldnt eat it. The gumbo tasted really old like it was something that was taken off the bottom of a pot. It was really bad. This was the worse gumbo I had since being in New Orleans. My new York strip streak was over cooked and very dry. My husband had these Nachos that we shared and those were really tasty. The best thing about my experience there was the live band, Troy Turner was amazing. I was very disappointed because after my great experience at The House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, I expected more.
For what has become sort of a chain restaurant found in many big cities, i was pleasantly happy with not only our dinner, but the atmosphere and the staff. Got to us right away and gave some very helpful suggestions about the menu, as well as drink specials. Only complaint was that it took forever after finishing to get our bill so we could pay. Not sure what was up with that, but at least there was good music while we waited.
This is a review as a concert venue but I unless the artist you plan to see is small I really dont recommend. It gets too packed when shows are sold out and its not structured in a way where people in the back can see. Too many obstructions like the balcony and poles . I dont know why HOB claims they have the capacity they think they do but they had to close the lower bar in the venue to accommodate the amount of guests which should have been a red flag for them. Ive been to two sold out shows and with todays concert culture, this is not a good venue for bigger bands.
Went to A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS concert and loved the venue!! Its rustic meets modern ambience was evident from the redbrick walls that blankets the entrance ways , which leads to a very modern high tech sound booth that supports a stage of same candor. Patrons are privy to two levels of space to totally enjoy this place and the fantastic events hosted here. House Of Blues is truly a gem of New Orleans!!
We were near New Orleans for the first time in over 17 years, and we remember on our last trip we went to the HOB for the Gospel Brunch and had a great time. So this time, we looked to book that again. There was no Gospel Brunch but, there was a Drag Queen Brunch. Having been to drag shows in the past we booked 2 seats. Our seats were in the first row of the balcony. Online looked fine. In person we were seated on a bench in a row with 5 other people. And we were seated in the middle. Getting back and forth to the buffet meant we had to ask everyone in our row to move. The food we good. Standard buffet brunch food. The problem was the seating. Also I have attached a picture to show what my view of the stag was from my seat. And standing was not comfortable either seeing that the table was in our lap. Most of Drag Queen show in in the audience and we could see non of it. Also when the Queens came to the balcony they were not able to get close to use to take pictures.I know that this will be my last show ever at a HOBs.
The best part of the show tonight was noble trash’s post show tailgator gig in the parking lot! Nice n tight
It was sweltering and looked overbooked. Not sure about capacity, but Ive been here a multitude of times over several decades and never was it so overcrowded and hot as last night. The show was great but really couldnt enjoy it to the fullest because it was SO HOT IN THERE. SWELTERING is an understatement.
Everything about this place is just okay, except the ceiling. The ceiling has faces of several great singers and their hometown. If you are going to New Orleans, I would suggest dinner somewhere other than House of Blues. Find a local, nonchain with music and dinner.
There is no fault of the bands at the venue, but this is a poorly set up venue for almost $400 spent on 2 VIP passes, and I cant even see the show. Get removed from where we found a spot to stuff ourselves by security for being in the way when there is ZERO room to move because they over maxed capacity. House of Blues New Orleans sucks for this night, the least value for my money I have ever had.
Great place to go for a drink. Also recommend the su day brunch and latin nights. The outside sector is really nice and has a good bar service. For good lineups it is recommended you get your tickets in advance. The same applies for sunday brunch. Get there with plenty of time to cue. The tables are shared and on a first come first serve basis.
My firm, DArcy Vicknair, LLC, was a co-sponsor of an event at the House of Blues on January 25, 2024. We booked the Foundation Room, the Parish Room, and Big Mamas Lounge. Over 400 people attended this event, and thanks to the incredible staff and management at House of Blues, it was an incredible success! Olivia and her entire team couldnt have been more helpful. Olivia went above and beyond - working with us to make the check-in process of 400 people as easy as possible, she kept in constant contact with us, and had the most wonderful attitude. She helped keep us hosts calm, which allowed for us to enjoy the event all the more. Starting with Anna, who we initially spoke to about booking, all the way down to our servers and bartenders, everyone was professional and friendly. Most people think of the House of Blues and just think of it as a performance spot, or a restaurant/bar. If youre in need of a wonderful venue to host an event - I cannot recommend the House of Blues enough. The Foundation Room, in particular, is so beautiful and comfortable - you will be blown away. Thank you to Olivia and everyone at the House of Blues for such a wonderful experience!
As far as Hob venues go, this is the best Ive seen a show at. Their sound setup put other HoBs to shame, but was about average for a venue of the size instead of terrible. The security was laughable considering the restaurant shares an entrance with the venue side. If you were just going to get food they didnt bother you at all, but if you were going to the show they made you empty your pockets(reasonable) and gave everyone a pat down which felt unreasonable considering they had full metal detectors and a wand that they werent using. We didnt get any food here, but the drinks were incredibly fairly priced for a venue.
Made reservations to eat at the New Orleans House of Blues but really only had access to the Voodoo Lounge outdoor area in the back courtyard. The main venue was closed for a private event as judging by the events calendar is commonly the case.In spite of this, we were front & center for a great live classic rock guitar & singing show featuring some originals and classics from the likes of the Allman Brothers, Carlos Santana & Jonny Cash. We drank more than we ate, and they ran out of a couple types of beers we wanted.
Pretty typical for a House of Blues, but I tend to like each House of Blues Ive visited. This one has a beautiful, historic courtyard, and the interior is cool too. Fun bartender, even if he didnt know much about the beer list. Tasty food and mixed drinks. Seriously good music from Jason Bishop too!
We went for the gospel brunch on Sunday. The food was good and so was the atmosphere. We enjoyed the singing. I would recommend you get there when they open on Sunday morning and enjoy the preshow that is outside where you wait. You want to order your tickets early. They were very friendly and it was nice.
I went to go watch cowboy mouth on feb 12 and I just wanna say that the security really does their job well. There was a guy creeping on me and my friend, but they noticed right away without me saying anything and they did the most they could with the situation. It’s really appreciated and they deserve a raise.
More places need to follow the example the customer service that HOB has in place ! The restaurant manager Michael went above and beyond to fix a problem we had while on vacation. Thank you all at HOB for being great. The Venue is amazing too! We really enjoyed the burlesque show Saturday and looking forward to UB40 on Tuesday.
Visited on a Sat evening for dinner then a concert in the Parrish Hall. I ordered the chicken pasta with a salad and my husband ordered a chicken plate with macaroni, mashed potatoes and slaw. We got a beer each and shared a Cadillac margarita. The rita was great. The food was delicious. His chicken was extra crispy and the honey drizzle set it off. I forgot the name of the salad but it was really good, however, I ordered without pecans. After dinner, we went a couple doors down to there smaller concert hall, The Parrish and saw Devin the Dude perform! The show was everything!
I feel bad for any band who plays outside here. Told the server twice we wanted to order food and drinks (4 of us!) after 30 minutes still didn’t come take our order so we left…
We had an excellent experience with Shane as our waiter. The atmosphere is very interesting and the music fills the room but isnt so loud that you cant have a conversation. We got our reservation on open table but the restaurant wasnt full so you can try to come without a reservation. Its not all atmosphere. The food was presented well and tasty. Shanes recommendations proved great although I wasnt a fan of the potato side dish.If you can request Shane as your waiter, you should. Check out the legends immortalized on the ceiling and check out the menz room art. I almost snuck my wife in there just to see it! We will definitely return.
Staff is awesome. Venue is just right size for a more intimate band experience.
Had a great time last week for corporate function here. Jake and his band were a lot of fun. Bartenders were better downstairs than upstairs for some reason so if you dont love your drink, go to a different one for your second!
I’ve seen a few good shows here and the vibe is good. One time I got to do VIP and I thought that was a good experience. The drinks are way too expensive and if they were cheaper, I would buy more and I would tip better. The restaurant is so so I would definitely go any other place in the quarter for something more authentically New Orleans - but some people are basic and just feel comfortable going to places like the House of Blues lol.
The set up was nice. We were there for the here come the mummies concert. Perpetual groove didnt sound like they were set up correctly, it was just a wall of sound coming at but the mummies sounded great. Only reason its not a five star review is the parking nightmare that is New Orleans.
Sunday brunch. Free memosas. Amazing food, buffet was hands down the best buffet Ive ever had, and Im from Memphis, so we have some awesome buffets at home, so thats saying a lot. Great music, you have a main singer/hostess and ours was great. You get to choose where you sit, we sat upstairs front center, that was a great view of the stage. Plus both upstairs and downstairs each have identical buffets. Now if youre looking for gospel music to be played here at this Sunday brunch, thats not what they do, at least thats not what they did the day we went. It was still a good time, no so much gospel as I anticipated but most of the songs youll still know. I would go again if I ever come back to New Orleans.
This is hands down one if the best venues in the city to listen to live music. Im partial to Frenchmens street but HOB Nola is the best. I always have a great time here. Parking is an issue but thats the French Quarters. If you can spring for balcony tickets. Thats a whole different experience! Overall great time there...
The restaurant..... Was told that we couldnt be seated without reservations in an empty restaurant....Asked for coffee, no coffee.Asked for hot tea and the waitress told us we didnt want it bc it was sleepy time tea but we could purchase a coffee martini.Nachos were cold.
I had a great time at The Foundation for my friends birthday party. The staff was super nice and they made the party experience really cool.
It is a staple of louisiana. Great music throughout the day. Tourist prices, but the food is good. It is definitely a place to stop. I enjoy the shows there but arrive early because a busy night means you can have difficulty seeing the bands
Enjoy live blues in on a garden patio out back or dine in the cozy interior under a ceiling tiled with moldings of historic musicians. A delicious menu and friendly waitstaff, all tucked away under a classy arch down one of New Orleans many scenic old brick alleyways. So fun to step off the busy street, hear the city sounds fade behind you, and find someplace special!
We purchased tickets (@$60) for the Drag Show Brunch. This got us a small table near the bar in the balcony area. These seats should Not be sold for a performance of this type. The minute a performer left the stage to mingle with the audience below, we saw nothing but the lighting on the stage. Performers did come up to the balcony area after their stage performance, but it was obvious they didnt want to be there and theres no room for them to do anything but walk through anyway. The drag performers were great. This was not our first drag show and we readily enjoyed what we saw of them, but we felt completely disconnected from what was going on. The brunch was mediocre - tepid scrambled eggs; generally cool, and therefore greasy, bacon and sausage; tasteless biscuits and gravy; waffles that were flat and tough; and no beverage included but water. House of Blues is an interesting and lively performance space. The Ticketmaster fees, drink prices, plus the show cost make it a pricey outing. Having paid this good money, we would have expected to at least be able to fully watch and enjoy the show. (Any customer would!) And, if a facility cant provide good food (and offer coffee or something to drink), dont make it part of the show at all.PS: The review remains in place but the House of Blues management did talk with us and agreed to refund our money. They were pleasant and professional to work with, understanding our position and being helpful, not responding defensively or dismissively. The issue was resolved to our satisfaction.
Don’t let it’s size fool you, House of Blues is one of the best music venues in the world!! You will be up close and personal with a wide array of musicians; those just getting their feet wet to those who have sold out stadiums worldwide!! They have a great restaurant and bar, so you can get your feast and drink on while you enjoy world class musicians. I have attended concerts across the globe and consider the House of Blu a to be amongst the finest places to enjoy a show. House of Blues New Orleans is the place to be, so yourself a favor and go check out one of their shows.
I ve never seen before that cold hamburger, it was cold and we waited for foods one and a half hour. Very disappointed.
I used to end up at HOB really often for a LOT of great shows and often attended many events here which typically led to experiences at their restaurant and bar. Ive eaten in the HOB restaurant many times and it has always seemed to be inconsistent as sometimes it would be really good and other times really bad. The last good event I attended here had a lot of great food on offer and it was one of the most enjoyable events I have experienced here. These days it seems I rarely end up here and the frequency of performances I want to see playing here has drastically declined. It has also been quite awhile since I last attended any events here which in general there seem to be FAR fewer events happening in NOLA these days than there used to be. I used to know LOTS of people who were members of the Foundation Room here but these days there doesnt seem to be that many members left I know. Ive kept hoping since the crazy times of the pandemic ended things would get back to normal and the fun times would return to NOLA but so far things just dont seem to be improving yet.
We were there on Oct 27 2023. We came from Alberta Canada especially so my friend could celebrate his (bucket List place) for his 74 birthday. That’s a long way to come to celebrate a birthday. What a supreme disappointment!!!! We were expecting mediocre food and we got that but were absolutely SHOCKED that the band that was playing was new age rock stuff and the singers could not even hold a tune. Had terrible voices. What happened to having Blues at a Blues Bar!!! Shocked and extremely disappointed :(
The Voodoo Garden has a cool vibe and was the perfect place to enjoy dinner, drinks, and live music. I recommend the Yardbird, the bbq bacon burger, and the brownie with peanut butter sauce- they we all delicious. The service was exceptional! From the hostess to the waitress, everyone was friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back.
Foundation Room is a great spot to chill, listen to great music and good food. Cocktails are always good.
Made reservations weeks in advance. One of our party really wanted to go and eat and listen to live music. Unfortunately theyre only really open a couple days a week. Maybe Thur-Sat? The other days its a small patio bar with a couple appetizers. So I guess we reserved a seat at a picnic bench and ate loaded fries. Pretty let down.
House of Blues, The Parish, was under staffed, but the one lady who was serving bevs for 200+ people did amazing! No griping, just got the bevys out there. I miss seeing people who can do that. The Show:Went to see the Bad Girls of Burlesque, it was a great show! Thanks!Hot wax, straight jackets, and pythons cant tame this show. Although there could have been blood, I winced when it came to that time.At times, it felt like I was the only one cheering which felt totally awkward, but they said it was Required? And I got dirty looks from people, for it. One lady said to me, how rude!I snapped back(in a whisper), its not a museum! And she actuality went to complain about me and never came back.I think one way to improve the show from my perspective is maybe punish those who arent participating. Also, I was thoroughly confused on how to get money to where it needed to go(I was way in the rear😜) , that could be explained better.Otherwise it was great! If you dont participate its like doing a dance and strip routine for your partner and them falling asleep, I think much of our audience was asleep. Less 5-10 people.I wanted to hang around a chat with the ladies after, but the powers that be said otherwise. So sorry, I look forward to the tour.Hopefully you find a place near ATW.! 😘
Huge shout out to Devin for his help last night. Couldnt get into my phone for the tickets, and he helped us work with the box office to reprint them. We appreciate you!Great venue -- easy entrance/exit, friendly/helpful employees, clean bathrooms, great show. Looking forward to coming back!
I cannot recommend this place enough! From the jump, Ramona the hostess was so warm and welcoming and then we were set and served by Marie (I think that was her name) who was an absolute doll! I would highly recommend the Yardbird chicken sandwich and the Voodoo shrimp! 12/10!!
This was the first time I had been to this type of restaurant. I ended up having a blast. The party was given by a sponsor, and the atmosphere was crazy fun. Food and drinks were flowing and good.
First concert I ever went to was Beartooth on Valentines Day, and it was packed to the brim! Crazy bass and the venue itself was dope!
Visited House of Blues with work a couple of days ago. Everything was fine until I tried paying my bill. First transaction declined but the money was still taken from my account…they then tried my card again in which the pay went through for a second time only to be refunded when I explained I’d already paid once…I was then dragged inside to pay a third time. Ended up spending just over £40 for a beef burger and a cider. This place wants closing down. The lady on the bar outside was also incredibly rude to me and my fellow colleagues…demanding tips from us all despite giving terrible service and rolling eyes. How do you expect repeat customers if you rob them of hard earned money at a time where inflation is at its highest? Just disgusting.
Totally enjoyed the concert. We had seats in the balcony but do not get the front row seats row 5. If you are tall. It will kill your knees shoot for row 6. More leg room and you can see the stage just fine.
Food is pretty good. You don’t get served here though even at the bar. You have to ask for a drink or ask to order food or ask for a glass of water. The service is non existent.
The food is good these days, but it used to be a lot better. We went for the concert and that was great. But the VIP sections are a bit pricey for what you do get. Maybe sell the upgrade for only the difference of the section you pick, and the general admission ticket that you pay to get in.
Had a drink at the bar...bartender was sweet..she have us great local recommendations for places to see and eat at.
Pretty subpar for a concert venue. I have been when the A/C was out, when they had general admission, but the floor had chairs on it so you had to stand around the side. The venue is just not great. I wish everyone would go to Southport Hall or the Fillmore instead.
Very welcoming people over there, we had a very good time, nice jazz band, good food, very good service. It felt private and cozy. The atmosphere was great!
Luv,luv, luv this places!!! Adi is the best server. She is so friendly and great with food recommendations. We were on vacay in NOLA and ended up eating there 3 nights in a row! The juicy Lucy burger kept us coming back! Cheryl the supervisor/manager treated us like old friends. The energy is top notch as well as the service. This would be my Cheers if I were a local.
The security guard was rude on both my entering and leaving. I can only figure he was having a really bad day. Otherwise, this establishment has delicious food, great music, beautiful decor, the clean bathrooms, and outstanding service. Be sure to order the bread pudding. Only wish that I didn’t have to go through security to get to dinner.
Took about 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge us and bring us a menu, as we sat outside under the patio...but there were numerous people, servers, giving other people service...after the young man gave us a menu, no one ever came back.. we were visiting from out of town...we left without any service
Not What I expected At All. We Did Not Even Stay To See Lyfe Jennings. Thoroughly Disappointed But He Can Keep The Money I Spent On The Tickets. He Needs It Way More Than Me If He Has To Play In A Nasty Hole Like This. I met him almost 20 years ago and I really though Lyfe Had More CLASS. Guess He Is Down And Out. God Bless.
Voodoo Shrimp was very good. The staff were all nice . Drinks were never empty. I will definitely be come back!
