This is probably the best Mexican food I have ever eaten outside of Mexico. The red salsa was the best I’ve ever eaten. The chicken molé was the best I have ever eaten. The food was prepared quickly. The service was pleasant. The atmosphere was wonderful. The price was extremely reasonable. If I could have a last meal on Earth that wasn’t my momma’s or my wife’s, it would be at this restaurant. My compliments to the chef!

Lovely atmosphere, delicious family Mexican restaurant. Staff is wonderful, attentive, and friendly. We ordered the classic margarita and spicy mango Rita for drinks, salsa is fabulous and comes with chips. Ate taco salad with chicken and vegetarian burrito with Spanish rice and refried beans. Highly recommend if you’re in the mood for margs & yummy Mexican food.

Fantastic restaurant with delicious food, drinks and great service. My partner and I enjoyed nachos & calamari as starters on their happy hour menu and enjoyed happy hour margaritas as well. Then we got steak fajitas and the meat was flavorful and tender and the veggies were fresh. The beans were also really good. Will definitely come back. The staff was very attentive

I happened to go on a day they were low in staff. They were polite but I never got my drink I ordered. I waited over 30 min. Food was great, fun atmosphere

Five stars all the way! Our experience here featured great food (their chicken mole is now my favorite mole dish ever), great service (Lizbeth was fantastic), frequent tortilla chips refills, and a nice and airy dining area.

We stopped to get a little bite, to keep us safe. When our bodies run low on fuel, a we are in a small space with someone, we can get irritable with each hour.I had never been here before.I lobe their deco!!! Totally cool!!!We each had a Margarita. Pretty good for $7 we also gotfree chips and salsa (nothing to write home about. We had the Calamari for $7. Tasted like fresh oil on the Calamari. There were some yummy vegies, too.Now we will be able to travel to onward without screaming at eachother.

This is my first time visiting Maya Palenque and Im upset that I didnt do it sooner. This place is great, it is super friendly, the appetizers we had were good and the drinks were flavorful. I will be visiting again and Ill be recommending it too.

My daughters name is Maya so went for the experience of having her name on a restaurant. 1st impressions was that the place needed some cleaning, floor seemed dirty and the chairs had velvet covers and attracted a lot of lint, dirt and other stuff. Salsa was ok, the red one was super salty and the green one was good. I ordered the tropical pork and the Maya Palenque margarita. I very much enjoyed my margarita and my meal was delicious. My family didnt like their meal very much, the nachos were not that appetizing, cheese was cold, I would go back for drinks and skip the meal, I also thought is was weird they charged for tortillas that went with a meal. Overall not that impressed.

We always seem to end up here for super special date days for my hubby and me. That day was no different. Great food, great drinks, and great service, every time! The atmosphere is perfect for our personalities. We were a little bummed that the back deck was rented for a party, but that was fine, we enjoyed seeing others having fun! Oh, and I LOVE the artwork!

Good Mexican food, this is a regular spot when we are running at Sonoma Raceway. Parking is tight for big trucks but we have always found a spot.

Great atmosphere—very lively! Tasty food. The server brought us extra napkins every time and ALWAYS gave us lime wedges in our drinks (without us even asking).And the drinks are just the right strength 😀

Lacks flavor, this isn’t true Mexican food! Very disappointed considering most of the reviews on here say it’s great! First and last time coming. Calamari sucked, green burritos had no flavor and sauce was bland and my daughters French fries had no salt. Don’t waste your money here. Store bought chips.

Not lgbt friendly!!! Don’t come here I was grabbed by security for defending my brother who’s was being bothered by another drunk guy and never stopped him but came in to grab me. These Mexican ppl are out of hand with their security.

The Pork Tamale was excellent. Everything else was average. The service was below average.I don’t usually notice what servers wear, but come on management…really?

Love Maya Palenque and have for now over 30 years. Upbeat at times loud (in a good way) atmosphere, usually no wait. Great service. Plenty of parking in lot or on street but gets busy on Thursday-Saturday as expected. Cocktails are decent, solid selection. Outdoor patio dining great for nice weather. Large bar inside, wonderful bartenders who are fast, attentive and knowledgeable. My go-to order is crispy chicken tacos but I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and the choices are typical but food tastes great and portions won’t leave you hungry after dinner.

DOES NOT CLOSE AT 10PM .Came here on a Saturday Night at 845pm trying to get some food waited at the front to be seated for about 5 min lady came up being slightly rude, asked if she could help us I said yes please table for 2 she said actually the kitchen is closed and we are going to get ready because it turns into a night club at 10pm. All we wanted was a couple of drinks and tacos 🌮. Will never return.

This place has been here for about 20 years really good Mexican food right alongside the freeway 101 in Ignacio. The food was not as spicy as I like but most Mexican American restaurants are that way. The atmosphere is fantastic the bartender was great really nice guy to talk to always made sure we were taken care of. The food came out hot a lot of food for the price I was definitely pleased and will definitely go back.

Excellent food & drinks. A bit more tvs than I like (you can see one from every indoor seat), but if you sit outside they are avoidable. Of course, if you want to watch TV its fantastic. Drinks are great. Drink prices are above average, food is reasonable.

House margarita had a slightly novel flavor to it. I didnt love it, but the last one I had was Chevys so maybe I was searching for too much sweetness. However, the calamari was one of the best I have ever had -- order it. The tortilla soup was solid.

I love this place! Im crazy about their shrimp tacos and peach margarita. After living in Washington for 2.5 years, it was wonderful to return and enjoy some fantastic food and drinks! Prices are very reasonable, too. Everyone is always so welcoming there. Dont miss it!

My first time here. Very friendly costumer service. The food was delicious, I order the steak torta with a side of house salad and fried plantains. The flavors were amazing, you may get a cheaper torta in other places, but this steak torta is way above in flavor and quality. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Cant wait to comeback and try another dish.

Good food. No dairy free alternatives. 😢 Service was okay, except for the guy bussing our table he was exceptional. I might go again, but only if someone else in my party really wanted to go there, it would not be my first choice, mainly because of the lack of options for my dairy free kids.

The service is slow and they overcharge for drinks! My friends and I went during happy hour, discussed happy hour drinks with our waiter, and were still charged the normal price. We tried to dispute the charges, but were told because we didnt explicitly state the words happy hour margaritas when we ordered, they gave us more expensive tequila. They just try to scam you out of money.

This place is a Must-Go if you are in town!!Excellent!

We decided to grab some Mexican food and this place came up on Google so we gave it a try. The parking lot is very small. It looks like its a good bar drinking spot, but the food was meh. Too bad we werent there for the drinks.

Great food and good pours on drinks. If you want good Mexican food and like to get your moneys worth at the bar then this is the spot. The chicken tortilla soup is a favorite of mine

We ate here passing by on the freeway and are super happy that we did! The food is really good, the staff is friendly and the restaurant has great ambiance. Cornelio was our waiter and he was awesome!

Good and authentic food. We ordered takeout and it was ready in just 15 minutes. The place is large and looks like it could accomadate a large number of people. The horseshoe shaped bar was busy with lots of TVs available for football. We ordered the green burrito and the chicken tacos, which were both excellent. Our order came with chips and salsa which was great. The only odd thing was that when I walked in, it took a good while for someone to help me with my pick up order. They didnt seem overly busy so it was a little strange. They also didnt include any utensils, which made eating our food very messy. Overall this place was good.

Friendly, prompt service. Fajitas were spectacular as were the burritos. Only drawback was we went during happy hour which only applied to the bar a few feet away and not to restaurant orders. The house margarita was great regardless... Overall very good experience. We will be back.

We were greeted with a warm welcome and seated right away. It was almost 9pm and it was one of the few places still open in Novato. As we enjoyed our dinner many more family groups and couples came in. Overall a great dinner.

The restaurant is conveniently located next to the freeway. Greeted by Joe and Carlos, very friendly and ready to please!The restaurant is beautifully decorated and clean! The food was authentic and delicious! They helped me put together a taco bar for our ladies’ group, although, I picked up my order, they do cater as well.Go check out Joe and Carlos and experience their excellent service!

My husband used to go to this place when he was younger, and remembered it fondly. We stopped there on a whim, on the way home (Sonoma County) from the Oakland airport, where we picked up my stepson. We ordered to go, and had a a beer while we waited. The waiter was very welcoming, and it felt like the people there were having fun. When we got it home, the food was terrific. It was a but pricey, but when you consider how well we were treated, and the quality of the food, its well worth it. It would be fun to sit in next time.

Although today was the worst service I have ever received there, I have to still give 5 stars. Id give ore if I could. The food is that outstanding and my regular favorite wait staff are that friendly and fabulous. Today we went to eat on the porch. We asked for a shaded area and were directed to sit in the sun. We asked again for shade and were told what the couldnt do which I have always hated. If you want my money, tell me what you CAN do. Eventually we got our shady table and the food was above and beyond delicious. The wait staff didnt want to come near us and avoided us as much as possible. We had to stop them as theyd run by to get any attention. The bill was under $17. I gave a $20 and a $5. They didnt give me change. I would have left the whole amount because generally I over-tip. But poor, nearly hostile, service shouldnt assume theyre receiving a $7+ tip. Or 40%. We asked for the change and received the $5 bill back instead of breaking the bill into 5 ones. When I tried to tell the server about breaking the five he told me most people would have just left it all for a tip.OkayI would have also, but now Im leaving 20% because it was so bad. Imagine, 20% as a standard for bad service.If I see either of them serving instead of my favorite servers, Ill have to leave. Love the restaurant, but I dont want to pay for hostility. Wish I could have tipped that cook instead!

If I could give this place 4.5 stars I would. I was helped quickly and the team member was super kind.I ordered a veggie burrito and I am SOOOOO grateful they fill it withactual veggies vs. just some lettuce and pico like so many other places do.My only 2 complaints are that that although I love the fact that the veggies were not cooked to mush, they were nearly raw, so something in between would have been nice. Also because I cant eat dairy, I would have liked for them to put a little more than a tablespoon of guacamole on it. I know avocados are crazy expensive right now, but since I had no sour cream and no cheese, it would have been nice for them to put a little more on it.Other than that, I highly recommend this restaurant.

Weve been eating here since it was a tiny shack with bad lighting and excellent food. Its grown up a lot but the food is as good or better even after all this time. Service is also amazing...and friendly; a hard combo these days.

Ahhh, me and my father go here every Sunday during the football season. We always get there before it opens and wait right until they open, then once they do we go on the couch and we get man with the plan to set the channel to the Buffalo Bills(Best defense out there) and then I ALWAYS get cranberry juice and watch the game. When I hanker up my appetite I get the Burrito with just rice and cheese(ol rusty never failed me). They are the best Ive EVER eaten in my life, they are godsend. The little bits of corn make my day and really set my track for success. The community in the restaurant is so friendly too, it is so nice. After a extremely pleasant meal and juice I make my way out making sure to leave a great tip. Would go again.

Stopped by with a girlfriend for a late afternoon nosh and drink. Joint has been there for 30+ years - who knew? Drive by it all the time and never realized what a sweet spot it is. Lovely terrace and patio along the creek that are dog friendly, spacious bar/restaurant inside. Quality margaritas and yummy chips/salsa/guacamole.

Bar atmosphere is cool. The couch area is nice to watch sports games. And the dining area is decorated nicely. Micheladas are great. Food could use a bit more spice or flavor but all in all its great. And their prices are decent.

Food was really good! It was a decent price, and very tasty. The other servers were very friendly but ours was rather indifferent. Margaritas were big, but inconsistent and sometimes weak. However, would definitely come back for the food.

Owner is very nice , Wonderful cocktails my favorite item on the menu is their Chicken Domingo and they have plenty of tvs so you can come watch your favorite sports. On Saturday nights they have a DJ so you can come dance too!! Great times and lots of fun.

Came here for lunch, walked in was super confused on where to sit or what to do no hostess or direction. Seemed rushed on service and ordering. The food was poor quality for the price you pay! Chips and salsa were terrible! Ive never been to a Mexican restaurant where the chips and salsa sucked so bad! My husband ordered a Chimichanga it was dried out no flavor... was really hoping for some good Mexican food and this was not it!! Would have rather went somewhere else and saved our money! Very disappointed!!

Our server was Joe and he was great! He was such a gentleman, he even gave me extra chips and put the guacamole and salsa in little containers for me.By the way, the chips were GREAT. They were thick, delicious and really different from what Im normally accustomed to. I didnt feel ignored nor did I feel smothered by constant check up.I got the chicken mole, wasnt too impressed, but I want to come by again because of the service.I will definitely visit again!

Yummy carne asada and nice portion margaritas! Their food is delicious and fresh. My family and I especially enjoy the fresh ceviche and sangria.

Bar tender was on top of it. Working several tables. Great value for happy hour. Calamari was a bit oily.

I really like this restaurant, but some reason I tend to not remember it when I am looking for dinner. Maybe because its not downtown, or centrally located with other places.I have always had great food, excellent service and while it gets busy the wait is typically not more than a few minutes.When the weather is nice you can sit outside on their patio (love that!) During the colder months there is plenty of indoor seating, or you can sit at the bar.We have a lot of Mexican food options in Novato, add May Palenque to your must have list.

The food is always good here and the service is friendly and accommodating. Whenever I come to this area I have to stop here for dinner. A wonderful local restaurant!

Great tortilla chips and the mega burrito is excellent. The fish tacos are tasty as well. Theres a dog friendly patio for sunny days and TVs for sports.

This place is so nice (the out side) but lets talk about the service and the food.The food was really dry and not that good. The drinks is just water and beers (they dont have sodas FYI), the service was bad and the waiters where not that professional we could say. It was a really bad experience at this restaurant

Authentic feel... spacious... but a little on the dark side our visit was about 7 to 8 PM and on hot summer days.... theres sun until 9 and with the temperatures we had today (95+) it wouldve been nice for some AC. Or open doors lol... Food and service was good. Wish our entrees actually came with something (rice, beans, dips) instead of just a burrito on a plate and have to pay extra for just a plate of rice for our little one. Drinks were deff on point 👌. We will return and try more food at different times.

Every time Ive been here with coworkers I have loved what I ordered. Some of the best service Ive ever seen. Owner very concerned with guests experience. Even had a work holiday party for almost 20 that went well.

This place is completely renovated and now has a full bar/lounge area in addition to the restaurant area. Great happy hour specials on drinks and food. I tried chicken nachos and while they werent the best Ive ever had, they were good enough, especially considering the price. Id go back again.

The salsa! Oh man! This place was bomb! I cannot wait to go back. We got the fajita combination , my husband and I ended up splitting it, it was more than enough for two and Im pregnant so I was STARVING.Love love love this place!

Ticket time for food to come took way longer than expected. We have kids and I kept seeing other people who sat after us get their food first. Food was ok, was not anything to rave about.

I have been to this really twice for the past two months for work happy hour gathering. The sitting of this restaurant is somewhat awkward. Service was definitely very slow. The food was okay, nothing spectacular.

Great experince. Stopped here for dinner with my husband. not too busy, i got a specialty veggie taco qith corn tortilla and it was GREAT-husband got pork tamales and he liked his as well. He is singing about it now😂Would recommend

Its mexican food, its good - not the best - maybe for Novato it is. The dining room is pretty nice. The bar is good. Food is a bit pricey for the type of food, but, its most likely high rent there. So, I dont like paying for the rent. Just the food.Ive had good and bad experience with the wait staff. I had one waitress come running out to the parking lot. I left her tip on the charge card - I do that allot - and then left what was left over from a trip to the bar because I had waited for the waitress long enough. It was maybe 3 or 4 dollars. I just left it on the table. Anyway ----- She comes running out to yelling distance, and, in front of a lot of people - including 3 car loads of people I was with - all saying our goodbyes in the parking lot - and yells hey - thanks for the BIG TIP big spender! while holding the 3 or 4 dollars up. Then turns around before I can say anything and runs back into the restaurant. What a B**tch. My friends ask did you stiff her? no I says - I left about 25 percent on the charge card for her .. I really felt like going back in and taking that back, but, I had places to go. So - have not and will not go back since then. But - its not a bad place - too bad though - NONE of us have ever gone back - about 12 or 15 of us that day.

I had my 1st order as a to-go order. The food was great and the order came out correct! Cilantro on the side and not all over the food! I hate cilantro and that pesky little spice has ruined many a to-go meal!

Been here hundreds of times. Amazing service. Family oriented. Bring a date for drinks or have dinner with family. Super fast service for quick lunch.

Best tortilla chips around. Normally I use chips to eat guacamole. This time, the guacamole was an excuse to eat the chips. Crisp and (almost) flaky? Not sure how to describe it-- never seen it anywhere else before. Fish tacos were also good. Probably would have tasted better if I werent so full already from eating chips!

Maybe try something other than the house Margaritas , basically unpalatable. The food was decent but nothing to write home about. In an area with so many restaurants of this type , I believe they need to kick it up a notch if they want to stand out.

Service was very prompt; staff was nice and attentive. Wine and nachos were delicious. Ceviche looked fresh and I was told it was very good.

I wish i could give this place all zeros. I will never waste my time with this place again. Food used to be very good a number of years ago. All they do now is pour a bottle of hot sause over it now. The food sucks. The ambiance sucks and oh yeah...THE FOOD SUCKS!!

Great festive place to go and have good mexican eats. Aside from the food, they have a good bar and good service which makes this place a no brainer. There is also a lot of TVs if you want to catch up on your team and even a large side room for big parties. Just a heads up though, they sometimes have dance nights and it can get pretty loud.

Great food and great people. I like that the gentleman that took our food orders recommended a smooth tequila that was enjoyable. I dont normally like to drink tequila, but his suggestion just fit. Thanks.

They serve chips with two different salsas and I honestly cant pick a favorite. They are both that good! All of their food is wonderful!

Absolutely horrible. Ordered flatas. Which should be a flour tortilla with chicken or beef. They dropped off a chicken paste taquito. Tasted like chicken toothpaste. Disgusting.

The food is ok was better when I was younger but I go and a drink thats not on the menu. Its one of my favorites. If you want a good drink ask for acazuela. It will get you where you want to be.
