Really fun drag open mic. Mainly performances that dont get a shot so fun and happy people mainly.Place is smallish stage area with not a lot of room to site or stand which is not great for shows, and even hanging out. There is a back area inside that seems disjointed from every thing else.Atmosphere has always been pretty good so

The Blue Moon is the most welcoming gay bar that Ive been to in Pittsburgh by far.I would go by myself when I first moved to the city and came out and, over the years, Ive introduced many friends to the bar.Ive had so many wonderful interactions with staff and patrons there and I cant recommend it enough!

Open stage every Wednesday is always great! Such good talent and performances! The bartenders are friendly, and the vibe is so welcoming!

Blue moon is the spot if your trying to get a good drink in Pittsburgh. Orange haired bar tender with the cute silly personality will make you a killer pizza, even better then the spot next door. With a playlist of gold blue moon is the place to be 🍊

Great spot for amazing local drag. Be sure to go for Wednesday open stage, or check their socials for any posted events. Not a ton of room so arrive early if you want to be sure you get a good spot to watch.

Arrived 30ish minutes before a show and it was pretty dead - nice time to grab drinks and chat. The bartender Izzy was sweet, friendly, and professional. It got much more lively when the show started. The drag show ran super smoothly in such a small and packed space, I was impressed. Good vibes and good people all around! Everyone knows everyone, without being cliquey.

I was visiting town and have never felt more welcomed and met sooo many awesome people and already staying intouch with them.

Just spent over $20 on drinks and pool within an hour before stepping outside because I couldnt find my friend who was just inside minutes ago. He wasnt allowed back in because the door person said they were at capacity even though we both had our credit cards on tabs and we both stepped out just for a second to get some fresh air since there was no other place. They literally just let out 10 people before me and didnt let that many in between me leaving or coming back in. I still wasnt allowed back in after informing the person I just stepped out minutes ago. Im a security guard at Ohios largest gay night club AKA the largest gay nightclub in the Midwest and I would not recommend anybody to ever come to this bar.....EVER.There was an assault at the bar tonight around 2 between a performer and a patron. The patron said she was in fear because the performer was a man.

Walked in with a male friend; I identify as queer. Two local patrons lambasted us for going on a date. Apparently, if you are not starkly gay appearing you receive a courtesy lashing by two older females. Stop the gatekeeping.

When there is an emergency and someone is looking for a loved one, bartender answers and say its a busy bar not my problem thats a huge problem.

Bartender wouldn’t serve us. I got boo’d by patrons as we left. Karaoke wasn’t working. I will say I am a POC but I had a cool jacket. That’s all I have to say about that.

Driving through and wanted to go to a gay bar and found this one had great reviews and was having a drag show. So I thought Id give it a try. First, the people when I walked in were super nice. That was the extent of the friendliness. Couldnt get a drink at the front bar for the life of me because there was no room to even walk, let alone order a drink. Walked to the back and saw there was a bar but the person wasnt serving drinks so I couldnt tell if it was an actual serving bar or not. (Been to plenty bars where the 2nd bar wasnt always a functional one). So I asked the person back there if they served drinks and if they could start a tab back there. And they were absolutely rude. Gestured to the bar saying uhhh yeah... And I told you I could do that. So I ended up just walking out. I rarely post bad reviews, but I couldnt not leave one with the horrible service I received. Im sure most people there were nice people. But that bartender in the back today March 11, 2023, was HORRIBLE.

Fun place, accepting of all types of customers.Overdose in the back room last evening, by a small group of unsavory characters.Not sure if the young man survived.Perhaps closer screening at the door would help.

I had an amazing time last night for NYE! The queens, bartenders, shot boys, and bouncer were all absolutely amazing!! I’m so happy I found this spot while visiting, will definitely be back every time I’m in Pittsburgh!

Went here for a drag show. Arrived three hours before show start time and got to see the place fill in. Seemed like a good mix of all sorts of queer folks...definitely a good spot to grab a drink and be yourself!Loved the vibe, the drink prices, and the drag show! Will definitely return.

Went in and bartender was outside smoking and was conversing with others within six feet — maskless. Wasn’t greeted but me and my boyfriend just decided to use the bathroom before sitting down.The whole place is very small and only seats a few people. 15 max.A few minutes after we had sat down at the table, we were finally approached by the same bartender — still maskless — who, at this point, had left the bar completely unattended for the whole time we had been there. We were not greeted warmly. We were not thanked for our patronage. We were told that the bartender needed to see our IDs. Okay. Fine. That was understandable since me and my boyfriend look pretty young despite being of age. Before we could even pull out our IDs we were informed that they were only serving people who had been vaccinated against COVID. Also not a problem as me and my boyfriend have both been vaccinated. However, my boyfriend had left his vaccination card at the rental — a 45 minute bus ride away.At this point, I said that I understand and we walked out of the bar.Note, however, that for all the people inside the bar who had not been served drinks because the bartender had left to smoke, each of them were maskless and socializing.So, from my entire experience of the Blue Moon bar, if one is looking for a small, crowded venue with cold, unfriendly staff, and poor lighting and atmosphere, who is selectively enforcing COVID-19 guidelines, the Blue Moon will be the perfect bar for them.

A nice, two-room bar, with bar-room in front and room with pool table in back. Weekly drag shows and Karaoke nights are held in the front room. Very friendly management and staff. Diverse clientele -- including some straight men who one or two of the drag queens seem not to know how to properly interact with...oh well. All-in-all a fun place.

My friend and I were roofied and taken advantage of at this bar . The bartender mildred kicked us out and then the guy who was taking advantage of us right behind us . We could’ve gotten killed or kidnapped. Honestly felt like a set up . Any other bar would’ve made sure you got to your car or a Lyft home. Ladies think twice before going to this bar. Also they charged us for drinks we didn’t drink .

Im afraid I dont remember the name of the bartender, but he was very friendly! I know it was a Thursday, and that he was a dancer who had been to Cleveland. Definitely the reason we will return in the future! We had been here once before when it was very busy and were not impressed, so cheers to him!

Second gay bar I went to in my life. Went to first pride, most ppl in bar were mix, gay, lesbian, straight support. Loved the drag show. Bar tenders worked butts off.

Great atmosphere!!! No drama jus great time with great people definitely a great time to bring friends. Karaoke night has selective music for any genre. The DJ is funny,bar tenders make good drinks at reasonable price. If your looking for a great time in Lawerenceville Pittsburgh without drama at Blue Moon you cant lose :)

This place is my Cheers. Everyone and anyone goes to the Blue Moon. Ive never encountered another place like it. I love the absolute diversity of this place and Andy, one of the owners is a big sweetheart. My only complaint is that I wish it were non-smoking as I no longer smoke and it can be difficult to manage, but I do realize that I am in Pittsburgh and this is what Pittsburgh does so I can just sit outside and shut the hell and drink my Long Island Ice Tea and be happy.

Blue Moon is a great bar, especially on nights with drag shows. Really eclectic, friendly crowd and zero pretension. Can be incredibly quiet early in the evenings, so head over when a show is starting or after 11. Can get really Smoky.. but most bars in Pittsburgh have that problem.

Great prices for drinks, quick/friendly service, and the whole bar was watching the newest episode of Drag Race. Great vibe, would definitely come back/recommend it to others!

Cozy, friendly, welcoming. Tons of niceness, and a twist of sparkle from the local drag crowd.The only thing I dont like is checking google for the opening hours, and seeing the review here that refers to a drag queen as it and as a freak. This bar is friendly to young, old, LGBT, also S,Q,I, G-N. Be dressed to the teeth or come as you are. This bar welcomes anyone & everyone except people who panic and turn hateful if confronted with a feather boa. If close contact with diversity disgusts you? Its not a huge space. Do everyone a favor, and go grab a six pack somewhere else. And, google, can you take DOWN the hater review, please?

Just a great all around queer dive bar. Especially on karaoke nights, the crowd is a fun eclectic mix of Pittsburgh personalities.

Love this place the vibe, clientele, as a Transwomen and entertainer( musician/ artist) i say dont just come for the drag shows( they are great) but come for the OPEN MIC NITES whoooo hooooo
