I went here for a metal concert. The venue is very small. You can buy beer in the upstairs balcony area, but cant bring it down to the floor area. If I wasnt right up against the stage, I feel like I wouldnt have had as good of a time. This used to be a night club, so they still have the bartenders and other female staff wearing skimpy clothes which I thought was really weird. But am not going to complain too much about it because, well, I am a man.
Update: I messaged their Instagram as their reply requested. The *best* they could offer me was a gift card. I only wanted a refund on my open bar tickets ($120), not the general admitting ticket. All in all, I dont recommend this place. It was trashy and overpriced. We bought tickets to the NYE event in advance. Two open bar and one general admit. $150 to stand in line for an hour in the rain to get our tickets scanned. Once inside youre stuck standing like a sardine trying to access the open bar. I finally managed to get to the bar, and the bartender let me know that the open bar tickets ended 30 minutes prior- after I just stood in line for an hour! She ended up giving me drinks anyways, but they sucked and were poorly mixed. We left prior to midnight to celebrate elsewhere. Deeply disappointed in the grand opening. I will not be recommending this place to anyone and I will not be returning.
This is the best club on the Southside they make u feel comfortable and it’s always good music and good vibes and the staff is very friendly
Really great atmosphere, best place in Pittsburgh for dancing and a night out. Its the kind of place youd expect to pay a cover in most cities (no cover here). Two stories, VIP areas, security was present and active, but not pushy. Great music, fun party atmosphere. Crowded, but thats hard to avoid when its a great place.
Trashy place! Overpriced, did not give a band to return. Staff were very rude.
The place for being new was kinda janky to me. The staff wasnt super friendly especially if you had a wrist band for the special they were offering night I was there. They said there would be food and there wasnt and for the price to get in , def not worth it. Plus entrance staff was rude as hell .
Horrible service and overpriced. Seemed like I was interrupting the girls. Wanted to get bottle service but ended up leaving and spending money at a better establishment
Never have had a bad experience at Fox! Fun and upbeat place for a birthday, bachelor, bachelorette, graduation, or just a regular night out! They are always bringing in live artists, hosting events, having theme nights (with cool bottle presentations), and there is a rooftop bar…WITH A POOL!!!
Witnessed gross mistreatment toward a member of the LGBTQ+ community by the staff. When I tried to address the issue, I was directed to the owner. I approached said owner with complaint and to address the issue, he dismissed me and told me to just go have fun. I asked for his name and he told me Bill. I then asked another staff member to give me the name of the man I pointed out (the owner) and was given the name Rocco. Thankful I was only drinking water and did not give any financial support to this establishment. If I could give a lower star rating, I certainly would.
We went there for a Freddie Gibbs show and the venue was overwhelmingly mediocre. We were absolutely PACKED in on the first floor, and I say that as a regular concert-goer. 2nd floor had maybe two dozen people, to make things more glaring. Openers finished up at 8:15 and we went to try to get a drink at the bar during the break. Waited in line with a group of 6 for 30-45 minutes and we didnt even get acknowledged by the bartender (to be fair, they were GROSSLY understaffed for that crowd). We gave up, thinking the main event would start soon, while the rest of the group waited over an hour for their drinks. It wasnt until 9:40 (an hour and a half after the last act finished...) that Freddie got on stage.Shows start late all the time, and concerts are crowded, but know the limits of your venue and staff your bar to match. The only reason its getting 2 stars is because Freddie Gibbs put on an absolute clinic in the 50 minutes he was on stage.
My wife and I attended a charity fashion show at Foxtail a week ago. Line at the door but I can understand why. Great ambiance, the bartenders are quick and it was a great crowd. I enjoyed the bar upstairs most of the night. I think the warm lighting is a great improvement. The only issue was the parking in Southside but other than that the establishment is 5 stars.
Great atmosphere, good music and fun place for a girl’s night out. We just celebrated my cousin’s 21st Birthday and they were very accommodating. They had a huge set up in VIP, champagne with sparklers and our bottle waitress was on point. Definitely recommended and suggest getting a table if you’re going with a group. We sat 10 comfortably and didn’t have to wait in line at the bar. This place has a fun vibe and the staff we dealt with last weekend was great. Job well done Foxtail!
My fiancé and I have both worked in food and beverage security and cocktail waitress in night clubs down south for many years and there’s a lot of improvements to be made here. We traveled a hour to come for a bday party and the experience was less than worth it. When we arrived the door guys weren’t friendly or inviting. Took us about 15 mins to get a drink at the bar at 10:45 pm, with 6 people behind the bar. Later on Got a bottle in a “private section”/ vip took a while to see a server and even more timely to be served. VIP section was damaged and dangerous, going out to smoke is only convenient if you know someone I suppose. Even 20$ couldn’t get me back into my vip section without waiting in a line. Again door guys only after coming in and out 3 times remembered me. As I said before it’s easy to judge the operation after working in a similar environment in Florida bars and nightclubs. The dj literally did exactly what the prior review said.. same songs on repeat. That was the worst!! This place has a lot of potential. But there’s a lot of ways to improve as well
Only good thing about this place is the music and lack of lighting so you don’t have to witness the absurd behavior that comes from people at this establishment. my buddy michael marinelli was hitting on a girl that looked like she could play offensive lineman for the steelers, he buys her a beer, it gets shoved up into her where the son don’t shine, im talking front door, not even the back door like a little freak. i witness it with my own eyes. i will never step foot back inside that establishment.
There’s no actual dress code policy. How are you supposed to follow dress code and they don’t have one? It’s up to the door manager!? Literally saw people with flip flops on, high tops but a friend couldn’t get in for having on high top shoes? Ridiculous. This was one of my favorite places but with the with the weird dress code policy, I don’t think I’ll be back.
I checked the website for specials before driving the 45m to get here. Website says certain drinks are $2 from 9-11. All good, until I went to order another drink under this special at 10:18 and the guy said it ended at 10? 🤔🤔 so either the website needs to be updated or management needs to clarify with their staff. I have no issue adding stars to my review once I figure out what happened here. I had to hit up another place down the street after he said that 😩
I Had a smoke with a gentleman outside before I went in, he was unable to enter and was not refunded his ticket. They said he was too intoxicated The gentleman seemed completely in control and was pleasant to talk to. Inside multiple people complained Foxtails card reader wouldnt scan their ID and they were unable to go upstairs to purchase alcohol, even though they were of age. There was a rude staff woman running the venue Sunday night who was completely unprofessional and unnecessarily rude to everyone. Friends and myself were unable to purchase merch because that woman was again screaming at people, this particular time it was get out were on a time frame mind you it was 10:09 PM and the show ended at 10pm sharp! Apparently..
It was ok. No wine! No where to sit for the general public, except the bar. Honestly, sitting at the bar is kind of rude because other people are trying to get drinks. If you are lucky enough to weasel your way to the bar through the crowd, it will take a while to get their attention . I hated that someone walked up beside me while I was waiting on the bartender and they were waited on first. You have to hold your drink all night. Sky bar was a nice atmosphere. The pool was covered in glass that made the dance floor. The view is great. But it was difficult to dance up there because you cant hear the music. VIP seating isnt labeled. I figured out that all seating is VIP except the bar. I liked the decorations. It was well ventilated. Even though there were alot of people, I didnt feel claustrophobic. I suggest small stools and/or tables. Definitely should have wine. Label VIP sections. Reconfigure speakers at the sky bar. I recommend flat shoes since you will be on your feet all night and you have a long walk from wherever you can find a place to park.
First time at Foxtail for a concert. The bouncers outside are very strict on dress code, so be aware. However, they are very inconsistant when screening people, for example we noticed people being turned away for the concert because they were wearing Nikes, sneakers, etc. but inside noticed people with those types of shoes on. No boots allowed, but cowboy boots are allowed. Just odd in my opinion. Screening should be consistent. Bartender was helpful in trying to find out about a coat check. It was raining so a lot of people including me needed a coat check. They did not have one, which was disappointing. The venue itself is decorated nicely but very very small inside.
First, DO NOT be fooled by the managers comment below. Both clubs (diesel and now foxtail) are under the same company and ownership. The club manager (Adam) is the same guy - no difference. You will be treated with disrespect.I went to the night club on a “open bar” ticket on New Years. Many things went horribly wrong. The worst was that my Columbia jacket (worth $160) was STOLEN from the coat room. I never got the jacket returned, and club management took no action to figure out who stole the coats. The club promised to give me a free night to make up for the fact that their coat room staff had failed to protect our jackets (at least 10 coats were stolen, and it was less than 10 degrees with wind chill). When I reached out to receive this night, I was ignored by the club manager. I also never received my money back that I paid to check my coat, or money back that I paid for the tickets that night.Additionally, the bartenders stopped serving after midnight. The place was very sticky/gross and there was hardly any room allotted for general admission people. This night was the most disappointing way that I could have chosen to celebrate New Year’s. I would never recommend attending this club because of how disrespectful the other attendees and the management treatment.
Job well done AMPD group! We had a blast. Love the renovations, especially the larger seating areas. Adam G set us up for the night and made sure we were taken care of. Our bottle service girl Danica was wonderful. They made our night!
Foxtails was a Great Place but its Sooo repetitive the music. I will have to lay off of the box for a couple months. The drink prices are bomb tho even though you may wait a little long at the bar.But they definitely need a change of DJ.
The club itself was actually very nice, staff was very rude. The bartender tipped herself extra money on my card when I bought a redbull and didnt tip her on the card. I left cash on the bar and she ran my card for extra money. I tried to contact a manager by phone and it sends you straight to voicemail and or leave a text message. My card was run twice that night when I only purchased one drink and paid out for that. Very sneaky bartenders I suggest you pay in cash or avoid the establishment completely. I will not return.
The venue looks like someone turned a live laugh love poster into a bar. If you want to be surrounded by pretentious 30-40something Beckies and Chads on off nights then this is your place.Drinks are more expensive than they need to be, and its a small venue, but I guess if someone is playing there that you want to see its tolerable. If youre just trying to have a fun night out there are plenty of other places on Carson that are more fun.
Last night was my second night at Foxtail and I wasn’t pleased by the staff. What I assumed to be the manager, was constantly complaining about the act. Before the concert began the woman was complaining that the act didn’t inform her about the meet and greet after the show. Then after she was complaining very loudly about the act after the show because of throwing cake (that’s his thing). Your floors were sticky before the show. Very unprofessional in my opinion for the manager to be complaining in front of customers that obviously came to see the act that you’re complaining about. I wouldn’t want to come here just to come here.
We went for NYE and there was water dripping everywhere. The steps were so covered in water that people were falling and sliding down the entire night. Nobody mopped it or attempted a cleanup. I’ve never seen such a lawsuit waiting to happen. They also cut everyone off their drinks that they prepaid for 30 minutes early with no explanation. It’s a beautiful place, the people working there are friendly.. but honestly the steps were dangerous. I’ve never seen so many people fall.
My girlfriends and I had a wonderful time! We were out celebrating a well deserved girls night. The bartenders were great throughout the night! We had blast dancing the night away ! Can’t wait to go back and celebrate my 30th!
This is by far the worst bar in Southside! Last time i was there i witnessed a man put his hands on a woman and she got kicked out for defending herself. Every tine i go there i have had a terrible experience. Its over crowded and the crowd that it draws in are rude entitled people. So if you want to be disrespected by both the staff and the patrons and get into fights then this is the bar for you!
If you like loud music in tight places, you could definitely do worse than foxtail! DJ and bartenders are both rad people who seem on top of their jobs and the bouncers are on top of it too. Watched a fight get broken up in less than a minute when I was here. All in all a good bar a bit loud and it wouldnt hurt them to limit occupancy a bit more
Foxtail is by far the most happening place in Pittsburgh right now. It has a great, welcoming vibe and it’s super fun. I’d like to send a special shout out to Sarah M. for helping us put together our event and making sure everything went smoothly. Thank you Foxtail! Definitely recommend this place!
Crowded/small dance floor. Employees don’t tell you where to put coats. The reserved sections are not clearly indicated. Music selection aight.
Went here for first time post pandemic It was jumpin, Tonsof young hot chics And 3 levels of nightlife Thought the lay out of the venue was exceptionally unique IDK what’s w the low ratings I had a great time PS if you can’t tip your bartenders or like to complain about $7 beers and 12$ shots Maybe downtown nightlife isn’t for you ;)
My friends and I were having a good time until a security guard was way too physical with my friend and grabbed her by the neck and dragged her out. My friend is the most harmless girl and didn’t do anything to deserve this. I yelled at him trying to chase her down and he grabbed me by the hair and slammed me onto the dance floor. Another friend tried to break it up bc she thought he was gonna swing on a girl and he grabbed her by the neck too and dragged her out. We told the other security guards and they let it go. We filed a police report and the cops seemed to be the only people who cared about the safety of girls. We had about 16 people see the incident and tell the police it’s true and the guy who’s did it lied and said we punched him in the face? Complete lie. Long story short, beware of the light skin security guard with dreads. He’s not afraid to touch girls and hit them. Have a good time but be safe.
This was one of the clubs in the south side that did NOT need remodeled. However, given that the new ownership decided to do so, it would have been nice if they could make the doors for the mens room stall closeable and got toilet paper dispensers that allow the lowest grade toilet paper on earth be dispensed.Money spent in the wrong places here IMO.
Always have good talent but they don’t get on stage until 1 am and the club closes at 2am ! If the events states it starts at 9 don’t show up until 12:30
UPDATE: They swiped my card FOUR times while I had a tab open and charged me over double what I should have been charged. This place is absolute trash. The security team was rude, continuously let people they knew in ahead of everyone else. The drinks are over priced and the crowd was gross and also extremely rude.
Incredible attention to detail in both decor as well as services offered by staff. It was super packed by 11:30 and was high energy the whole time. Absolutely fantastic. Probably the best club in Pittsburgh.
Open space friendly bar maids with hot outfits urban mix of old and new music when I was there it was pretty early and empty. Started to pack about 11 nice place. Very limited seats
I find it funny how Pittsburghs City council wanted to close you citing public nuisance .. When they have this drug infested public nuisance CarWash at 3405 West Carson St terrorizing the life long residents that live nearby.. People publicly urinating, breaking into cars, littering, beggars for money ... TELL THE CITY TO STICK IT!! And that goofy Distinct Magistrate is a punk too!
Felt like I was in a mosh pit too many fights not enough security. Ja rule was supposed to perform at 11 wasnt until 12:30 did he come out and he only performed for maybe a half hour. No metal detectors no one was searched patted down or anything prior to going in needless to say when fights started to break out it was very uneasy feeling not knowing if anyone had weapons on them.
Stopped in here on my birthday for a couple drinks. Maybe Im just cheap, but $1k for me to sit at a table when the place has barely anyone in it is a bit ridiculous.
The first time we went was on their opening night and the bar wasn’t completed, it was planks of wood, they said we were getting in at 9 and we didn’t get in until 10, the bartenders made us wait almost another 45 minutes and would not take our order even though they knew we were standing there. I thought maybe it was just because it was their opening night, so we decided to go back again to try it out. BIG MISTAKE!! We waited in line for 15 minutes. By the time we were the next to get in we were told they were at ‘full capacity’. Within the next half an hour the bouncer let in almost 50 people that he knew and refused to let us in. He kept telling us he had no idea when we could in it just depends on when people leave, but continued to let others in in front of us. If you want to wait in line for almost an hour just to watch others get in in front of you then this is your place, I just don’t recommend doing it in the middle of February!! I will not give this place another chance.
They forced us to eat beef tacos before drinking. We were all vegetarians. Waitress gave herself a tip because she knew we didn’t like the service. No toilet paper, no soap, and no hand sanitizer. Terrible place.
One of the premier nightlife destinations in Pittsburgh. The multi floor layout with a rooftop bar on floor 3 really makes it stand above some others... however be prepared to deal with a large rowdy crowd, many of whom smoke indoors and aggressively push past you. All in all great club with a few rude patrons here and there.
On Friday evening, your obviously incompetent door guy became triggered by my ID. While I am flattered that he so steadfastly believed that i couldnt possibly be 33, he still decided to crack my ID in half, then take a knife and try to split it down the middle. he failed. its real. and now completely destroyed. and I cannot help but feel like you guys owe me 35 bucks plus shipping and taxes, right? My Venmo is @haleyrwallace thanks guys!!!🤙
This place is a good time. Better get there early because the lines could get real long. But the music is good and you can have a good time. Plus they have celebrity guest events every now and then
If you go outside to smoke can you re enter? Im not going for a show but for my birthday. I have never been there yet so im looking forward to it. I will share a review once I have experienced the club. Thanks
Chicken tendies were cold, I’d much rather spend my time eating @ Carnegie’s Schatz Dining Hall
The performers were great but the staff was absolutely terrible. Completely rude. You cant go outside to smoke either or they wont let you back in.
Im not from here, but Ive never been anywhere that there are people sitting in the bathrooms handing out paper towels and asking for money in return? The venue was beautiful, but I could have done without that.
This bar is okay, but it has seriously lost its luster. Its diesel days were the best. The DJ and music choices are not very good at all.
Bought one drink for $6 (including tip) and they charged my card $15. This has happened more than once and I am starting to think the bartenders add extra charges to your card. They steal from their customers... never buying drinks here again.
If youre a dark-skinned individual, make sure you wear something Leonardo DiCaprio would wear to the Grammys. That is the only way youll avoid being singled out. I was allowed in, but my black friend was denied for wearing boots, a collared shirt, and a Patagonia. A white male in a cutoff t-shirt was let right in seconds after. No joke the man wore a cutoff t-shirt,sweats, and boots and had no issues. When it was called Diesel I witnessed similar situations. New name same prejudice I guess.
Bouncers are total d bags. They threw away over $100 of my property when I tried to enter. I politely and calmly asked to have it back and leave the premise and they refused.
Environment inside is beautiful and a beautiful bottle girls prettiest in pgh and bartender, Micayla made the best drink and knew how to make me laugh
Beautiful inside! Great lighting with tons of seating. Very modern but has some fun sayings all over the place. I will definitely be back!
This place is not great for live music. To drink you have to be upstairs and cant see the band. They also only had two bartender serving most of the night, so no one could get any drinks efficiently.
A good place to go and dance with some friends. Vibe of the night heavily decided by the dj but drinks are reasonable and the space has ample room for dancing.
Dress code isnt consistent between men and women. If you dont have proper jeans as a dude(any rip) you will be rejected. As a women that will be tolerated. If you can sell yourself you will be allowed, otherwise you will be rejected.
Got a VIP section the ladies were hot
Had a great time. No cover, great place to dance. It was very. Busy though. Hope you dont mind a crowd
Derrick the security guard and olivia the bartender are 💖💖💖💖
Awesome service! very fun atmosphere. Awesome security guards, fun dj, awesome servers! Definitely would recommend this place to my friends!
They need a new DJ or something. Every time I’ve been there they have played the same music with maybe 3 new songs added. They need to find better music to play.
Security would rather ride the dxcks of those they know and get mad when they can’t choke out people that are stronger than them. Lucky they’re walking
I can honestly say this place is over sexualized. Men all over you and when you complain that you are uncomfortable the security stand back and let it happen. I dont get uncomfortable in public situations but this place took the cake.
Worst venue ever! Will never go again. Paid 200 for a meet and greet that never happened! Pure garbage!!! Id expect more after driving hundreds of miles
This place is awesome!!! I definitely recommend this place! Great spot for a few drinks, friends night out or even for a big party!! Great job with this one!!
Rating only from concert experience.Awesome environment and production for a concert. Upper level was awesome to watch a show.
Asked for a long island iced tea, $7.50 for a 12oz cup and it wasnt no where near a long island 🤦♀️🤦♀️ so packed in there, go upstairs and cant even look over unless you pay for VIP section and the people in VIP were fighting.....
Foxtail tonight best DJ theyve had down here best Ive seen. Come see him DJ magic Mike owns it.
TERRIBLE PLACE FOR CONCERTS! NO STAGE, POOR VIEW OF STAGE, SMALL VENUE, STAGE GEAR ALL OVER THE PLACE, NO RE-ENTRY, NO SMOKING, EXPENSIVE DRINKS. AND THE STAFF ARE TERRIBLY RUDE!
Awesome place love the music cool vibes only energetic people always have fun with my lady!
Horrible!!! After 12. Ja Rule was suppose to perform at 11 occurring to website. Still no Ja. But numerous fights.
Love the 🦊 tail awesome place to have fun and dance. But the dj skill s could improve
Treated well in the V.I.P. section. Unfortunately a fight broke out next to our party and security was nowhere to be found. But before things got too bad they finally came and broke it up.
Way too many rude people. New shot girl was very nice though
Beware the bartender took my change for her tip . 12.00.. she doesnt deserve 50cents.. rip off
Great place! Management, bartenders, security were all very nice and helpful!
Loved it it was fun got to see my childhood cousin
It was a horrible experience, they ain’t let me in with a legal form of identification because the staff don’t have the knowledge to know what’s accepted and not.
Just tell ‘em u related to Paulie-D they let you drink for free. Just know the Jersey shake
If you have a tiny hole in your jeans, then don’t bother going here cause you can’t get in. They haven’t caught up to 2019 where everyone wears holes in their jeans.
Very fun place to socialize, drink and just to have fun mostly!
Had a VIP section for Pauly D! Love the amazing atmosphere and service!
Great service, wonderful staff, Definite must see if youve lived here youre whole life or just visiting.
Nice spot, kind of tough to get a drink and some pretty sticky floors.
I love it there!!! Me and my best friend’s favorite spot!
WAAAAYYYYYY OVER PRICED!!!!!! DEFINITELY WONT GO BACK. TOO MANY RULES!! HAD NOOOOOO FUN!!!!!
Always fun. Great DJs and ove the rooftop!
Best nightclub in the city people need to go and then go upstairs to Skybar
Overpriced and underwhelmed. Not the fun club atmosphere I was expecting.
Great atmosphere for younger crowd.
Good music and good drinks. Still needs to enforce masks.
I would go back. Some of the guys there make it an awkward experience though
Great spot, amazing staff, and tasty drinks!
If you feel like being attacked by people, at your own private table that you spent thousands of dollars on, go here.
Loved seeing Gary Owen there last week!
Too many 19 year Olds but it was cool
I love foxtais my favorite spot to relax and unwind
Very sleazy place. Was only there to see a music act. Would not go.back.
Music was good. Atmosphere was awesome!!
Great show and a great venue to boot.
Great tomes with good friends and DJ Tweak
Didnt appreciate being judged by staff for how I looked and treated like a criminal
It was lit seeing Fetty wap and the gang
Its better than Diesel was at least.
Typical club. Nothing extra special or out of the ordinary. Like a million other ones.
Too many fights,too much fog
Good service, good atmosphere, fun bottle service
Definitely a place to have a great time!
Staff was rude, overcharged me and to many doe boys standing outside
This is the best party bar in Pittsburgh!
If you’re looking for a fight, foxtails your spot!
Clearly never going to this awful establishment lo
Frankie Capri show was great.
Very fun and good music
Line is crazy but fast getting in
Terrible place of business. Don’t spend your money here.
Just wish you could smoke in there
