Real Luck Caf (Luckys Bar)

I wish it was mentioned more in the reviews that this is a SMOKING bar. Its 2023 and there are still SMOKING bars around. They make no qualm about it with big fat signs on the door.We were there Friday around 10 as this was the gay bar from our hotel. The bar itself was pretty quiet with a few people smoking by the bar. Its busier on the top with 3 go-go boys dancing in a room filled with smoke and older folks.We walked out to the back patio and got recruited by a table of customers from out of town in Pittsburgh for a convention, who were also at the back outside coz they didnt want to burn their clothes after going to the bar as well. We hung out with them for a drink which was fun.As we were leaving the bar picked up a little just around midnight.The location of the bar is interesting. The bar resisted a buy out so the new development has to build around them now. Power to them in that regard.But if smoking bothers you. This isnt the place for you.

I hate to write this because I’ve enjoyed luckys so much in the past. However, I went to this bar with my friends to celebrate our graduation. The very first drinks I asked for after walking in was a Long Island and a gin and tonic. I asked for both (because my two friends didn’t have cash) and the bartender at the bottom bar said okay. Then just moments after I ordered my friend asked me (because I was the one with cash) to get him a Long Island. I asked for the drink after she gave me one Long Island and then she proceeded to yell at me “how dare you ask me for another, I will not make that. You should’ve asked me the first time”. Directly after this interaction she went to another one of my friends and asked what they wanted. They said they wanted a white claw to which she then proceeded to say “No. We don’t have anymore, I’m not giving you that.” And then what did she do? She went to someone else down the line of the bar and got them a white claw. I was truly appalled. Is that not your job, to make your customers drinks? Do you not expect it to be busy on a Saturday night? How are you going to lie to a customer just because you don’t want to do your job? I got ONE of my drinks and then she scolded me for asking for another while I STILL hadn’t even paid. And it’s not like I waited for her to give me all my drinks before I asked for the second Long Island, keep in mind I still hadn’t received my G&T. This is one of the only gay bars downtown, so it’s sad to see that the very first person you interact with when you walk in treat customers with such disrespect. I will NEVER be coming back to this bar again. The fact that you fully and completely disrespect your customers while they are trying to enjoy their night is honestly disgraceful. I cannot believe that you even allow someone of such negative energy and attitude to even be employed at your establishment. If you don’t want to work as a bartender at a busy bar and cannot handle the pressure of being busy on a SATURDAY night then you should find another job. I hate to have to write this about a bar that I loved, but it was honestly one of the worst experiences I’ve had going to any bar in downtown Pittsburgh.

Only order drinks in cans or bottles. Ordered a gin and soda. Drink had black specks of mold and a long hair at the bottom of it. Drank it anyway, and dont feel so good. Had a good time there otherwise.

Relaxed, unpretentious, old school, gay dive bar. I don’t love that they allow smoking indoors, but the vibe here is just right. Lucky’s represents a dying breed of neighborhood bar.Also, the federal cold storage building being torn down around it, gives a wild post-apocalyptic vibe.CASH ONLY!

Luckys is awesome, casual and unpretentious. Go-go dancers upstairs and a dance floor. Fun and friendly, like the old days.

This weekend was my first time back in Pittsburgh in a really long time and my first time at Luckys, which Id heard about but never gotten the chance to visit. I loved it! It had a great, friendly, dive bar atmosphere. The drinks were good, the bartenders and clientele were chill and fun, and the dancers upstairs were great (especially Ben, he was fantastic!). Ill definitely be back!

This may be a grungy and smokey bar, but I must say that if you want to have a good time, come here! The dance music is amazing, DJ playing the best remixes, and the drinks are cheap! You can’t beat $3.50 Vodka Sodas. It is cash only, but there is an ATM inside. Head up to the second floor bar where the good music and bar top dancing boys are located.

Iconic dive gay club for Pittsburgh, but also anywhere. Places like this dont really exist anymore, anywhere in the US, and were grateful to have this place. Great staff, great dive vibe, great crowd, great dance floor. This should be your first stop if youre visiting Pittsburgh.

Ive never been here but its an automatic 5 stars from me for not folding to the developer who tore down the Federal Cold Storage Building. Dont let them push you around. I will definitely come here at some point to support you in holding strong.

Friendly staff and customers and the dancers were hot without looking like they just walked out of the gym. Beautiful, natural bodies. The kind of guys you might think got their physique from working on a farm.

I like a gay dive sometimes. Some of the worst people Ive met in PG love or have been dancers here. But its also a hangout for nice older guys who just want to chat. Its called Luckys website and everyone mentions ita a gay establishment...if the shamrock makes you assume its an Irish Pub, thats just your lack of sense kicking in.

Such a great place. My first time there, it’s welcoming, upbeat, such a blast. By far best LGBTQIA bar I’ve been to so far! Will attend again 😘

Worst bar in Pittsburgh. They do run an illegal after hours bar in the alley out back thats somehow not quite as unsanitary.
