Riverside Red X

WOW! Talk about awesome! This place is so clean and neat and organized. We stumbled across them staying a few miles away while on vacation from California and were sure glad we did.Red X became our only source for all the supplies we needed while in Missouri. Its not everyday that you see a vintage fire truck parked inside a grocery store. The staff are all so, so very nice. Makes you feel like family.If you ever get the opportunity to go there then do it. Youll be glad you did.

Someone told me about Red X cooked food, not knowing that its a grocery /liquor store. Let me start off by rating the Grocery store. The Grocery Store is clean, neat, & organized, everything is in its place. Fruit & vegetables look very inviting, fresh. Red X has fresh seafood & meat. The bakery is also fresh different varieties of donuts & cinnamon rolls. Now to the liquor store, the best liquor store I have ever been in, the selection of liquor, mixers, spirits is amazing. I would recommend this store for all your Grocery needs & especially your liquor needs.

Nice grocery, solid small town vibes and decent prices.Supremely disappointed in losing the indoor bar as this is what made this store special to me. Its an interesting concept with a friendly great bartender in Brandon. Needs more investment and promotion so people know this gem exists!Please reconsider keeping it and expanding what can be done in the space as its an awesome staple of our area!Also get the Football games on so we can come for sporting events.

Yasssssssss, this place is a small tab of grocery shopping joy! A hidden gem!!Tastings, variety of foods (warm & cold), liquor , and empowered kind & knowledgeable.Bathrooms were clean and so were all the isles.... for a grocery store they take pride in the environment & it shows. Special shout out to bartender George for the recommendations, the drink mix, and the friendly smile & service! Man needs a raise!

Nobody working at cash registers - I went to self checkout and could not get the register to work. Man watching over them was clearly disgruntled and laid into me for five minutes and claimed he knew me. I tried to laugh it off but I almost cried. I was so embarrassed I even said anything. Horrible experience. Ruined my day. So disappointed... I wont be back.

The new Red X has been awesome, just sad to hear the bar is going to close. Grocery shopping with drink in hand is a fun treat (and definitely leads to some impulse purchases not on my list). Would love to see the bar stay open.

I was very pleased with the selection of crackers at Red X. I was a little disappointed when I found out they do not sell individual uncrustables. Regardless, still a 5 star establishment.

A staple. Iconic. Delightfully weird. Am sad to hear about the bar closing though. We will still come, mostly because we’re in somewhat of a food desert and it’s the closest grocery store, but the bar definitely made it more enjoyable. I hope it stays!

Red X is a great place to go for your needs. Recently moved into a new MUCH BIGGER building! The liquor selection is absolutely AMAZING! I smoke, and its very decently priced on smokes! Its been around for years and just getting better! Oh! And a very big selection of fireworks for 4th of July!Someone recently asked if Red X had a salad bar. They do have food ready made, but no salad bar.

They offer most items that larger grocers have at cheaper prices. Much less expensive than Hyvee and (outside of using coupons) cheaper than Price Chopper.

I truly love this grocery store because of its proximity to NKC, the prices, and the employees are always so helpful. The main reason I have continued to return is because of the bar.The bar is so unique and an amazing aspect to the grocery store. I just learned that they are planning on closing said bar and I am devastated. There are so many opportunities for this space to thrive. The music that started this summer is great, I would love to watch any KC sports here, and overall it is an innovative aspect to a grocery store. Brandon makes the best old fashioned and has a lot of fantastic ideas for this bar to flourish. Please keep it open!!

The lady in bakery was very helpful today! I was supposed to pick up a cake for my grandsons graduation and the baker didnt show up at another store. On the spot the wonderful lady in bakery wrote on the cake and put additional decorations on it for me!! Thank you so much!!Saturday May 11

New store is amazing! The staff is friendly and helpful, and the shelves are stocked often. Prices are a bit higher than my local store, but this store is fabulous, and the floorplan was well planned. EDIT: FIFTH STAR ADDED! I was prompted to go back and raise my star level regardless of the higher prices as on my most recent visit, I heard music!! LIVE MUSIC!! This store now has performers on friday and sat nights from time time! They have a seating area on the patio and the bar features $3 drink specials!! Come check it out!!

We just moved to Briarcliff and had heard a lot about Red X. We checked it out since it is less than 5 minutes from us. Seems very clean and organized. Prices seem reasonable. Nice liquor section.

I absolutely love this store, its so unique!!! When youre ever in Kansas City, Mo goto Riverside, Mos Red X. If you need it, they have it!! The customer service is amazing!! And the food, you would not expect to taste so good inside a grocery store. I would highly recommend you try the Corn, and the Catfish. Im posting a lot of pictures cuz. Im trying to entice you to come, and check out Red X!! Such an amazing store.

Red X is a staple in the Northland. I think its an average grocery store to be honest but they go big in a couple of departments that stand out like no others. Not necessarily for me personally but tobacco and wine departments set the bar for the most part. Its hit and miss if you get a wine head employee to help you out on selection but they use to have an older gentleman in there that has pointed me in the direction of some of my favorite bottles ever! Thats just not something you find at your typical grocery store. Red X really does great things with pretty much any fried foods prepared at the deli counter also. Not the healthiest option but if you ever find yourself in the mood they just do it better than everyone else.

This is the most unique store in KC! It is hard to describe this place, so you just have to experience it yourself. Its a grocery store, liquor store, smoke shop, hardware store, dollar store, pharmacy, and museum of oddities all rolled into one. They have great prices, large selection, friendly faces, and strange surprises in every nook and cranny. It is a true landmark in the Northland worthy of a day trip.

The grocery store is clean, well organized, and filled with a large selection of grocery needs. There is not much of an organic, health section, but the overall selection of foods and meat is spot on.

Im so glad they built the new facility and kept the friendly faces and atmosphere we were use to. The prices are always reasonable and items are fresh. The crab legs are our favorite at a GREAT price. Red X is always clean and well stocked. The memorabilia posted through the store was a nice touch.

Still love RedX; but its not the same as it was.... miss the nostalgia. Otherwise great place to stop and shop for some quick and fresh food. Sometimes the lines at the registers are more backed up than they used to be... wish theyd keep more cashiers available.

You already had the best bratwurst in town. The new pineapple version is something to try. Fry it up & slow roast with serrano & onion for a real experience.

I like to shop here because it is locally owned, not a chain. They have a very nice produce section, excellent meats and seafood, and are my second favorite after Hen House.

Great store, cashiers are a little slow sometimes. They have very reasonable prices on just about everything.

I used to go to the old Red X building but hadnt made it up to the new one. There is always something interesting to see. Amusement park type mirrors, interesting statues. There is an old fire truck just inside the door. Stepped into the humidor and looked at all of the cigars. Walked through the huge wine and spirits section. Started going through the grocery section when I decided it was time to go. Look forward to exploring more of this location.

Has been a couple of years since been here, so much bigger now, and lost that little charm it had, is how it makes me feel...... But alot of selection. Im sure I will be back sooner, really like the options.

Im extremely sad the bar is closing!? I literally come here for the bar because I can also shop for things I need.Please dont close it! I bring friends at least a few times a month. Please dont close the BAR! If you close it I wont have a reason to come. Please dont close it!

Yall HAVE to check out Red X since the new building opened! I went in last night looking for one thing, and came out tipsy lol. They have a wine/liquor tasting station. That St James Blackberry is amazing. Im actually VERY impressed!!!!!

Well I absolutely love this place a lot but the main draw is their bar area. Now I hear they are closing the bar! WHY??? This is a bad decision! I will not be coming back unfortunately!

Nothing I can say about RedX that hasnt been said before! Super amazing place to grocery shop that has a packed to the gills liquor store, lottery office and a mega fireworks tent on the 4th of July. If you cant find it there then it doesnt exist. The new facility is very nice but doesnt hold a candle to the original one for nostalgic reasons.

Huge new store close for us, fairly good selection. Veterans discount on Monday, Senior Citizens discount on Tuesdays. A little pricier than chain stores. Huge liquor store with many options. Bakery is pretty decent.

I love supporting local and Red X is about as local as it gets. Theyve been around for years and theres a reason why... Good prices and friendly employees!

Great family feel place. Love the upgrades and location. Just need them to not acuse someone of stealing because the color of my skin. I felt I was being targeted for that reason. O know I am the only one ever feeling this Way.

They should have hired an experiential designer to create a unique environment worthy of replacing what the original Red X was back in the day. or, maybe this is all they could afford to build - and if so, thats fine.selection of products seem limited compared to a price chopper, hy-vee, hen house or walmart. prices on the couple of items i checked were on the high side. BUT, its refreshing to see somewhere buck the nanny state and sell cigarettes. (not that i endorse smoking cigarettes, but i also dont endorse social engineering through sin taxes, carbon credits, etc.)

This new store looks really different. But they still have everything you need.

Love Red X!! Convenient and close by my Rivermarket loft, and love the bar with the solid selection and prices! Always stop in when I’m in the area.

My favorite place to go! They carry Best Choice brands which I like. Only wish they had the Best Choice Angel Food Cake mix 😍 hint hint.Y’all they carry Fanestil Products!!!Not as many as I would like but they do. I really need them to carry the regular bacon but if you are needing thick sliced Fanestil Bacon it’s in the deli case. If you’ve never had Fanestil Bacon you haven’t had Bacon 🥓 Seriously not an exaggeration. Fanestil is based in my home town and grew up having something from there in our fridge at all times.Their BBQ beans are amazing!Sorry for the raving but Fanestil is the best!Back to Riverside ❌! Always clean and well stocked. They also have an excellent selection of Roma Bakery items. Their fresh food counter at the front is also very good.I think my favorite section in the store though is the Liquor Store Section! I’m not a big alcohol consumer but I swear this half of the store is like turning a kid loose in the candy store 🤣 you will find something! They’ve got an entire huge selection of sample size bottles. Certain nights they also have tastings, AND they have a bar in the store!!Seriously if you’ve got a partner who doesn’t like to shop you can have them at the bar 🤣 it’s a Win Win!There is plenty of parking whichever entrance you decide to go in. There is the main entrance and also an entrance down near the liquor store and cashier cage where you can get your lottery tickets.Also if you don’t feel like going to to shop the have pickup! The liquor side has absolutely everything! If youre not sure what you want, they are eager to help you find something. The food side is pretty good but they will charge you wrong of what the signs say.

Has most of the stuff a typical grocery store has, but also a lot more! Won $60 on scratcher tickets! I definitely miss the quirkiness and odd selection of products from the old location, but the new one is very clean, organized, and quite nice. It was my wifes first time there and she loved it.

Love this place its huge..great selection of alcohol, cigars etc. Man! When I came in they offered me a drink to walk around the store with. Complete score. They have a bar too.

The sushi bar at the deli is amazing. Restraunt quality at a fraction of the price. The lady behind the counter is a sweetheart and has a true talent with her sushi.

Really interesting supermarket, has endless aisles of alcohol! (Which good prices!!!).All the place is filled by antiques, very nice to walk around and look

You can find hamster, guinea pig, ferret, cockatiel, parakeet & fish food here! Wild bird feed along with the expected dog & cat foods. When in a pinch, Ill grab a bag of wild bird seeds to hold my chickens over until I can get to a feed store.

Great place to shop in Riverside MO. If you make it that way be sure to check out the bacon wrapped filet mignon at a great price, along with some Larry the Cable Guy grub!

Great place to get a wide variety of thing youd need. It has definitely lost its charm since they switched locations from the building next door sadly. Still 10x better than walmart

Best grocery prices in town! I have a new store to go to on my errands day. I won’t get groceries anywhere else.

The new Redx grocery store is not much bigger than the old one its the high ceilings that makes it look bigger. The liquor part is probably the biggest Ive seen in a grocery store. Now some of the prices on the grocery items are way over priced as apposed to bigger named grocery stores and some are cheaper than bigger named grocery stores but not by much. If i had to rank the stores in my area for prices i would put them in order from least to most. Walmart, Hyvee, Redx and Price Chopper

Dont get me wrong very nice store, and Ill shop there again,but liked the old one just because its was an icon, shopped there when I moved to KC area and still live at home with mom and dad 😁

As a former employee I expected more my Kia was stolen I lost my job absolutely no compassion for a local family-owned company you would expect more concern about their employee knowing kias were being stolen all throughout the Country, mine was found in Oklahoma, just a little disappointed.. BUT what would I expect its Red X. Been around for years but not many people that look like me have worked there for years.

What a great reward for years of service this new store is!! The staff that been with Red X for so long rightfully take much pride in the transformation!! To my knowledge, this is the 1st live music venue in Riverside!! Cant wait for the patio to open again!! Wine and whiskey bar is fun!! (Recommend the Hurricane George 🍹 cocktail!!) Good cigar selection in their humidor. Produce and meat are top notch!! Food from the deli is Soo good. (Recommend the fried catfish on Fridays)

Brandon is the best bar tender at this grocery store, I hope it stays open!! Best place best ever!

Love the atmosphere! Very disappointed to hear the bar is closing one of the only reason I drive out from Gladstone.

Was not crowded, everyone wore masks, employees were kind ,courteous & i noticed they had signs that said they cleaned conveyor belts after each person.Store was clean & had fresh food & decent selection of meats that were actually not just fat cuts either.

Wow! They revamped the place. Its a new modern store with some elements from the old store in it. Its nice they still have the huge liquor store and its still big. I might be wrong but Im assuming one of those rich guys from Briarcliff may have bought this store and wanted to give it their look but I kinda miss that old redneck vibe it once had but I understand things cant stay the same forever. Overall, I like it and Ill stop by every now and then.

I have to admit that when I saw they were building a new store, it made me emotional. I have so many memories of this place and just wasn’t ready to let go of the old store! Lol But I recently went into the new store and I’m so glad I did. I was actually teary eyed as I walked through…there are so many personal touches from the family and owner, and you see that everywhere. It was definitely an enhanced experience for me. The store looks beautiful and is stocked so well! Plus the employees have always been wonderful, and of course, they still are- after all these years. Thanks for the memories and wonderful service!I just had to edit to add this very important point: I was afraid the changes would make this store feel like a corporate/chain model of a grocery store. And it’s the exact opposite, as always. This store has always been unique and the owner and family has understood that since day one. They know what they are doing! With so few independent grocers and family operated stores left in the KC metro (and country) it’s important that we support their business!! This is a personal experience, not a corporate one. Go see the difference for yourself.

RiversideGrocersThe real local grocery store. Great liquor and cigarette selection and a decent produce selection with nice wide aisles. Give me back the traditional old school supermarket and stop supporting Walmart trash. Your wonderful and unique local stores are always appreciative and you just feel better as a person.

Update, reduced to one star, zero if I could. Their food could be dangerous at this point! We’ve spent 20 on a Tippins pie here that was sour, and tonight a Chunky Monkey ice cream that was crystallized with no chips or nuts, until I dug to the bottom, where they were settled. Should call in the food inspectors, completely unfrozen and refrozen! First few visits to the new store were great. Good stock, good selections, friendly cashier. Tonight dashed my hopes. Completely out of two sale items, and one sale item was nowhere in the store, stocker couldnt even find. Cashier never spoke, not one word. I called after I left, and the lady who answered could not care less that they dont stock for sales. Said they get what they get, other customers got there first. Only having a few of something on hand means the store doesnt lose on it. She also didnt know about the product I couldnt find, wonder if its even there? Didnt offer rain checks, didnt offer to find out about the unfound product so I could come back and get it. I guess Ill drive farther, I really hoped this store would be awesome and well stocked. Not planning to go to two or more stores to complete my shopping.

Store fails to put customers waiting in line a priority. Would rather fill their lottery machines than help customers in line.

The new store was wonderful.buts no longer the store to explore and lost its charm and family aspect that they have pushed out for many years. Lucky the employee that we know and love still call us by name and treat us like family.

Wide selection of groceries we shop a local regional chain weekly and come hear to get items they dont offer or for the cheaper price we should use RED X totally but the wife prefers her store for the main shop and this as a odds and ends pick up

Been coming for years but last night had some issues…Visit was going good until we go to use self checkout, was with someone and we where using the same cart but the employees keep rushing us like they had somewhere to be.Also got some lunch meat that was moldy, just threw it away instead of driving all the way back.Maybe next time will be better.

I love the new Red X it has EVERYTHING! The amount of liquor there is incredible. The choices are wonderful. They have groceries and novelties too. Its also a beautiful store!

Its the Riverside Red X!Its been a,stop since childhood and I had to go again,wonderful people watching,helpful staff, EVERY person I came across asked if I needed help(Im in a wheelchair for now.),and thats a big store with lots of staff,and patrons.Youll be floored by the Sea Of WineAnd the walk in humidor.There are also clothes, a dollar section, and groceries.Years ago it was one of only two places to get rabbit,the butcher ordered it in,ummmmm they also had craw-pappies,crawfish, crustaceans,see you never know what or who youll find there,or what youll read on a t shirt or learn about some one in the checkout line,its a nifty place see I got these swim shoes for 8 bucks!Now I can not worry about slipping in the shower of the physical rehab center Im in!Yayyyyy!

It was our first visit. Overall it was clean. Workers were friendly. They have everything from groceries, household goods, toys, plumbing, electric, tobacco, lottery and booze.

The store is truly amazing, but disappointed in the restroom. I was surprised, it was not clean. The old store always had a very clean restroom.

Definitely pickup food from their front kitchen. Check out the 5 for $25 deals. The finish up with the fun selection of sample size alcohol options or their vast selection of everything else. Dont forget to stop at the bar too.If you have kids, a sweet tooth or the daily munchies. They have you covered too.

A Riverside icon. This is a grocery, liqour, hardware and fast food store. There are antiques and interesting relics.The brand new store is fabulous unlike any grocery you will ever visit. Ignore old reviews about the old store. You have to visit it!

I miss the old store, but the new one is clean and well stocked. Very good prices.

Love this new store its my absolute favorite go to for lunch I work nearby I love the little sushi guy hes always so friendly and willing to make a new bowl because I dont like the Sriracha thats always on the others!Great alcohol selection too!

First time going to the new store. RedX always was the store for everything you could ever imagine for your grocerys and liquor needs at modest prices. My favorite beer and namesake is Michelob not the lights, ultras or any of the diet verities. I love the full body version of beers. Through out Kansas City and the surrounding areas its getting hard to find Michelob Lager or Michelob Amber Bock. Red X saved the day for me.

Great place to shop; has a little of everything. The store has been replaced and moved to a brand new building just west of the old one! Friendly employees, great selections, and the Phillips Pharmacy is AWESOME!

Riverside Red X is hands down my favorite place to go shopping in KC. I visited the OG Red X when I first moved here a little over two years ago. That had me hooked, experiencing the brand new store with the same incredible selection and customer service and there was no turning back.The employees of RRX are hands down some of the nicest and most helpful of any service based business Ive encountered.Admittedly, one of the top draws to RRX is their amazing beer/wine/spirits collection, along with a full bar.If you havent visited yet, do yourself a favor and give Riverside Red X a try!!

The new store is nice but I miss the old store. I walk around the store on lunch breaks frequently and have noticed the prices are pretty high. Edit- beer prices are insanely high!! Everything else is 2-5% higher. 12” bland sandwich costs $10. Riverside needs a new grocery store to increase competition and lower prices.

I guess with a new building comes higher prices. Larger grocery selections, but the flow of the space seemed weird. The store was clean except for the rank smell in the meat department. Employees were slow and I watched two argue in front of customers.....so that needs work but other than that nice, friendly staff. Way better parking. Will miss the old space.

Today I ran inside to get sale items..buy 5 get 5 mix and match. Before ringing up item asked clerk if item was as in ad. Told yes. Rang it up, item not found in system. Woman in self check out had no clue about how their sales even worked. 30 mins later left.

The new store is so clean and seems well organized. I just find it to be a tad more expensive than Price Chopper or Hy-Vee.

I only gave it three stars because I miss the old red x. Now it’s just an everyday boring grocery store. Bring back the bells outside! Bring back the bronze statues, the wavy mirrors, the antique’s. Who ever decided to build a new red x messed up! It has zero character compared to the old red x. Did they sell out to someone? Who thought that was a good idea!? 🤦🏻‍♂️

Normally, Red X is a 5 star experience for all my essential shopping needs on a WEEKLY basis....However, tonight (approx 830pm) I walked in after work. I was wearing a hoody and a ball cap with my dirty jeans that I was still in from work today.I was 1 person out of maybe 8-10 people shopping and I was being followed by another guy wearing a hood and ball cap to see if I was shoplifting. IM OFFENDED BY THE ACTIONS OF THIS GUY. He made me feel extremely uncomfortable.In hindsight Im glad I didnt get mouthy with him because as I walk out, he is with 3 cops...tending to a true shoplifter.RedX, please recognize your regular customers and avoid hiring local law enforcement to run private security. Its a conflict of interest.

Red X is great at what it is - a hodge podge of booze, groceries & some random tools & odds/ends for your house. I am happy with the tequila selection & walk-in humidor. Its pretty much a Riverside staple.

Never call this place... they dont have anyone to answer just simple questions... guess you can only go in the store if u have any question about stuff... horrible service

Always interesting. Good prices. Good selection for a small grocery store. Love that they have stuff going on in the bar area and for the community.

The place is old outdated like owner dont want to look to the future and just rack up the money. If things were updated like walls fresh paint and floors cleaned and or maybe buffed and waxed more it would not be so low on the scale and business would be more then what there putting into it. Other wise the store is good to get something oh and if you plan to get a lotto you need cash only when else were card is good.

Love the new Red X store, I heard someone say it looks like Price Chopper but it does have antiques everywhere which adds that extra touch. Very clean, well decorated, laid out just other grocery stores. It has interesting palate designs, love they recycled, looks modern and has a bar which might extend outside when its warmer. Awesome beer and alcohol selection!

They have moved down the road from the original building and its pretty nice!

Riverside grocery and market have everything, if you can’t find it at your usual store Red X will almost definitely have it….

Well Im an ex employee of the Old Red X I put some got up to see the new store very very impressed with it I like to set up I lay out of it its just a shame that we lost the Mystique of the old store and all the nuances of that do they keep some of the Antiques out there but most people put away thats a bummer!

What an awesome business I attended when I was there in Kansas City, Kansas visiting from Columbia, SC. The employees were awesome. They helped me with everything that I needed. And gave me ideas also. Thank you for your time.

Love the new store. Everything just like the old store but fresh and new expect with some 1 thing I really don’t care for. I do love seeing the few pieces here and there like the bells, the Fire Truck and the sculptures at the entrances. I just wish a little more from my childhood was saved. Not knocking it at all.I decided to have something to eat and ate in the little area near the cigar room. Placement of some of the old vintage stuff is tasteful like the couple wooden chairs by the tv. I’m only 30 but I fondly remember the old store and it’s country home town feel. I remember when smoking inside was permissible.The modernization is absolutely great and much needed and appreciated in the new store. I just feel like the country store vibe has been sucked away. McDonalds, Taco Bell etc and now we can add Red X; have gone corporate with their look.

1 stop shopping love the prices most all the workers are very friendly the new store is huge clean & well set up But I have 2 say miss all the antiques that was displayed at the old store that was like a redX monument it would be great 2 see them only display again.. & I thought that maybe with the store being so big there would be a place 2 sit & eat a snake bar concession that would be great!!

A nice new clean store! Staff was as helpful and friendly as ever. It is just not the same though. Maybe it needs a few years to get a little rough around the edges. They need to move those artifacts back into view too. It is what gave this place character. Now, it just feels like any other grocery store.

Love the new store! The selection here is insane! I love it! I have found so many unique or hard to find items there. I could spend hours there just looking.

This new Red X is so much nicer than the old one. They have a lot more groceries, the selection is great, still have a huge liquor department, and they even have a bar now.

Still a FUN place to shop and look around at the museum quality pieces.I hope they turn the old Red X into a Museum. They have a lot of great pieces. Could make the bells operable and make a lot of noise like they used to in the late 70s when I went there. I volunteered for the Riverside Fire Department 86 to 94, when I moved away sadly, in December2, 1994. We went back last night and saw the NEW Red X, Great Start, 2023.

Im gonna give 5 stars. I havent been in the new store yet, but I was going to the original store in the late 60s I notice the fire truck that used to sit on the bluff across the street is now inside the store clean and looking good.Kinda sad that house was removed it always had a lot of flowers in the yard.Ill have to visit, havnt been in a long time.Usually ill come down to Visit Larrys nursery next door, that used to be a car wash years ago.We used to shop at Thrifway and red xWhen Thrifway turned into Flash marketWe started going to bobs IGA on north oakThen move way up North Oak to the Newmark area. Then out to liberty areaSo in 40 years time id shoped at a lot of the stores in the area but always went to Redx when I used to smoke. Stoped smoking no reason to go but Larrys and id like to see him get more room now that Redx opened a new building but ill miss the old one too many memories, maybe keep it open as a flee market like it was years ago with different vendors. I dont know what the plans are but its definitely a landmark.The Drive in is gone so is the race track.Both gas stations on the other side are gone and all the houses. The rock quarry is long gone and the hotel. That area is nothing like it was in the 1960s.Now redx is fancy youll probably get a lot of shoppers from the new homes on the hill.There are some houses with million dollar views of the city airport and the Kansas side of the river. The new store fits better.Ill have to visit.

Great local grocery store with a huge selection of liquor. Amazing update with the recent move. Everything youd expect from a large grocery store with the flair and comforts of a local store.

Show up five minutes before close and every employee will alert you they are closing in 5 minutes, but they will still let you suffer through a self checkout experience instead of checking you out of the store with a normal human cashier. Three minutes to get my items but felt like 10 minutes getting through the self checkout, even with over anxious assistance from the employee.

Miss the old place but this is a much cleaner upscale store now and with that comes along higher prices.. sad to see this change..

I shop here every week and look forward to going even though it is a 20 minute drive each way. Prices cant be beat on cigarettes and liquor and the selections are HUGE! Meats are an amazing deal here as well and the items that go on sale are good buys. The staff are always friendly and fast.

First time in the new store and it feels like it lost its zest. Feels like a normal Price Chopper but with a huge alcohol section. Its new but its ok.

The old Red X was pretty cool...I was not excited for a new updated Red X...until I went inside the new building. Wow! Huge alcohol section. Huge grocery section with 10,000 new items. They kept the tradition of hanging antiques all over. The new Red X is a must shop.

Nice new store . Same annoyances.Advertise sale items but never seemingly restock. Customers cant be guaranteed theyll have what you want. Ex... Ice cream on sale 1.99. today at 1O:00 am... There was just one carton avail on 4 shelves. This repetitively happens.

This eclectic place cracks me up! A wonderful variety of liquors and wines. Every kind of beer you could want. Groceries a little steep but quality. Grab and go food is always tasty. The random odds and ends are always fun to peruse!

Today was the first time Ive been to Red X in more than 10 years. First, the new store is gorgeous. I will give them that. But I was just dumbstruck by the high prices in the grocery store. Red X is probably the most expensive grocery store in KC, hands down. They probably get away with it because theyre the only grocery store in Riverside. I dont live in Riverside and have more choices--even High-Vee appears cheaper than Red X. I dont see any reason to shop there again.

A great store that will be moving its location in the coming year. It will be located just east of its current location walking distance away. Ive been involved in the build and the store looks great. With an expanded wine and alcohol section a new deli and a large grocery and frozen foods area. Theres also a health and beauty section a pharmacy and more...I cant wait to visit the store when it opens...there will be a change though it will no longer have a hardware section to the store...

What a strange little spot..in the best way. Definitely a hidden gem here in Riverside. Aside from the grocery store aspect, where you can get most of your basic needs, there liquor store selection is expansive. There are tons of craft beers and wines to choose from. There is also a dollar section of the store if you need to grab something cheap as well as antiques. They really have a it all here - highly recommend checking it out if you havent been here before.

The new location is beautiful. We loved the cute kansas city feel and the history that was worked into the decor and the isles have local street names. I was however disappointed in the amount of options they had for low carb or keto options.

The new RedX is a huge grocery store that expanded it liquor store. Shopping is truly extensive. You can get it all there. Prices were a little up on some things, but most were comparable to local chains.

Went to the new store today. Although it was a nice new store, all the charm and history of the old store is gone. Very few collectibles there now. It was like walking into any other grocery store. Very sad. Nothing left to bring me back.

This place is truly one-of-a-kind. The decorations alone make it a destination (bells... So many bells...) They have a little bit of everything, including a HUGE liquor department, a pharmacy, automotive, toys, possibly a flea market which was closed when I visited, and a full grocery store with fresh produce and a deli with fried chicken that smelled delicious even from outside.

The new Redx is big and shiny with a lot of selections! Im not sure I like the floor plan that much, and I really miss all of the neat antiques that have the old Redx its charm but the new store is beautiful.

Grocery section is just okay, I rarely use it even for a single item if Im out of something, but the liquor side of the store is amazing. Huge booze selection, greater than any other store Ive been to in KC. Groceries are limited and expensive. I drive past every day on my commute and I still choose to go out of my way to Hyvee as they have better grocery selection and, surprisingly, much cheaper products.

Ive only been twice but price choppers is better for food and Total wines is way better for pricing and selection.Staff was very nice

This is a family owned grocery store since 1948. Its survived fire and floods and continues to serve the KC metro. The staff is amazing, friendly helpful and courteous. They have a phenomenal liquor, beer and wine department, a walk in humidor and great meat department.It truly is a unique store to shop, drop in and see for yourself. It really is The store to explore.

Someone told me about this place but I think it looked better in my head, more like an antique store/grocery store hybrid I guess. Saw a commercial coffee I buy elsewhere for $3 more here and I wonder what else is price hiked here for the novel experience! Yikes.

I used to love this store because it had everything you could think of. But Sadly since they opened a new store the verity has gone down. There is no longer a section for parts for fixing things or just random things that you can’t by any where else. So it can no longer go bye the saying Red X it’s the spot for what you need that you haven’t got. I have shopped at Red X for many many years, now they have a new building, but forgot to bring a new attitude, the people arent as friendly as they should be, and getting something at the deli takes forever, it should open sooner than it does, havent been to happy with shopping there anymore and I spend hundreds of dollars there every month.

What is going on with this store!!! I’ve been shopping here for years and years and my recent experiences have been not sooo good!!! Y’all are supposed to have briskets on sale this week.... I have made 3 trips to only see 1-3 out...I ended up going to Price chopper today and they had like 40-50 to choose from and yet their sale was the week before but they were still offering the 2.99 per pound!! I placed an order for a cigarette rolling machine that cost $47 and I’ve been told it would be there Monday.... nope.... then I was told it would be there today and it’s still not in!!! I guess I’ll be looking for it at other smoke shops!!!Very disappointed in the lack of everything not being available on multiple occasions

I went in with my 3 kids for an in and out trip. I know.. who Im kidding, right!? A short trip turned in to adding several other items. At the check out, my 3 year old was having a meltdown wanting out of the cart, my daughter was crying that her belly was hurting, my oldest was sacking. Our bottle of olive oil fell and shattered all over. It was literally everywhere - my pants, my daughters feet and shoes, the floor, the register. I felt so bad! The nice man working self checkout called for clean up while I ran to get another bottle of olive oil. He made me feel like it wasnt a problem at all while I was literally trying not to have a meltdown myself. Im grateful for his kindness. Red X has been the place we stop occasionally for in between items. I will continue to support a smaller local business versus a large chain like Walmart!

It was clean and plenty of room for carta and people. The staff was friendly and nice. The check out person could have been friendly.Easy to get in and out of the parking lot.

This place is awesome. The people who work here are simply the best. From food and drink to hardware supplies beers and insence they have it. They all wear mask but you can see the smile in their eyes. Excellent customer service! Hats off and mask on to a wonderful experience every time I go.

Ive been shopping here for well over a decade. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They have good quality food (fresh, frozen, and cooked). They carry a wide variety of alcohol products. They have a good selection of tobacco products at the best price I have found in the area.

Good prices on some things but @ a lower tier to begin with. Customer service is on the average but I notice a big turnover. They seem to keep the ship afloat despite that but it needs an all hands on deck for a good scrubbing. Over all they are doing a good job serving the community with affordable groceries which many towns lack thereof!

Red x is a very big store which contains just about anything and everything that you could possibly want all in one stop. They have a hardware section, and excellent four rows of the best wine selection, they have a tobacco humidifier or humidor in there.Red x is very also known for their lowest prices on cigarettes and people from miles 45 minutes away will drive to Riverside just to get their minimum of six cartons of cigarettes at $28 a piece when anywhere else they can be anywhere from 38 to $42 a piece. Red x is an excellent store to shop at because you only need to go to that one store to be able to accomplish multiple tasks at once without having to go from store to store to store and I find that it is a huge plus knowing that you only need to go there, and get anything and everything that you need.

I dont have any problems with Red-X at all. I just go in, buy something, and leave. Its like a local market. Good part about it is, theres a $1 area all the way in the back. Unique store, nice selection of beef, purchased a whole brisket at a good price. Amazing wine and liquor section, you will find it right next to the hardware tools. Go to a wine tasting and decide what you like but buy it at Red X. Hope the new store is just as quirky!

If you havent had the opportunity to visit Riverside Red X youre missing out whole new location about 500 feet from the old store all the selection of their tobacco needs alcohol needs extensive and great grocery and fresh meat

If you can handle a community with a small town flavor, you might like visiting or even living in Riverside, Missouri. It isnt a terribly big place, and there are fewer than 5,000 residents. Probably the biggest draws to Riverside are the Argosy Hotel Casino & Spa, and the Riverside Red X, a marketplace that has anchored the community for about a bazillion years, and for reference Kieth Richards was, I think, a high school sophomore the year it first opened. LOL Seriously, though, Red X has a grocery component to it, but is widely known for being one of the absolute best places in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area for purchasing tobacco products, beer, wine and liquor. Price-wise, theyre very competitive. They also sell a huge volume of Missouri State Lottery tickets every week; consequently, they have a lot of winners, including for some of the biggest jackpots for the big draw games. So, a big recommendation for Red X, and if you enjoy casino games, Argosy is pretty nice with a variety of slots and table games. (Or, so Ive been told. LOL) You might also enjoy stopping for a meal at the original location of the Corner Cafe, renowned in these parts for its homestyle cooking. Riverside is also, in addition to the places Ive mentioned, home to a lot of light industry. So, the community has a solid tax base, which means, unlike a lot of American towns and cities across the land, big and small, that arent able to keep their local police force fully staffed right now, Riverside seems immune to the issues other places are struggling with right now. Accordingly Riverside, Missouri is a safe place to reside or visit, but I will offer you one word of caution: Take the posted traffic signs to heart, and I do mean every one of them. Ignoring or disregarding them will likely wind you up in court. Riversides Police Department has enough officers to not only deter serious crime and maintain order, but you may discover, as many others have before you, that Riverside pretty rigidly enforces the traffic laws. Hey, thats the way the people who live there want it. So, enjoy your visit, but pay attention and watch what youre doing.

Love this store. It’s a bit disorganized but it’s fun. Groceries are a bit higher than average. Liquor selection is great! They carry lots of items in the back that remind me of an old Ben Franklin (dime store). Loads of unusual displays of oddities sort of antique/ museum type collections. Very nice helpful employees This store also holds events such as wine tastings once a month.

Ive actually never been here for the groceries. I come exclusively for the absolutely enormous wine selection. Its such an unassuming place and has literally hundreds of bottles of wine from all of the world near the back of the store. Ive never once been disappointed in the selection, and Ive always found exactly what I was looking for, and usually Ill come across something else that struck my fancy, as well. The rotisserie chicken is pretty tasty, too.

Ive been coming here with my grandpa for as early as I can remember, its always been a very great childhood memory for me, and now that Im 21, I can purchase alcohol too! always loved the atmosphere, my grandpa has also been coming here since he was little just as well, we treat it kind of like a family thing
