Switched to a smaller room due to a wedding? Talk about fly by night. Horribly uncomfortable seating arrangement. Didnt have to worry about what to drink or how much because no server even approached us. The MC and first comic were simply not funny. The third on stage was better, first time we laughed. The headliner was decent, about 7 out of 10. Would we go back? Nope.

They convert Conference Room B into a comedy club! How clever! It was really nice and the service was great too. Only thing is that I put a tip on my tab and they didn’t take it, so our server is out her tip until I get it to her. Management is helping me with that.

I only found out about this club because of a comedian I follow. It utilizes a conference room in a hotel... so aesthetically it could use a lot of work, the vibes are weird. They also have all the tables set up like a cafeteria and try to jam in as many people as they can. 90% of the people had to turn their bodies to see the show. Service was pretty bad, only got served once while the wait staff loudly repeated back orders to other customers around us. Like come on guys were trying to watch a show! I had a great time though, again only because of the comedians. Ill wait til they play at an actual club to see them again.

Had a great time here. One of the two opening comedians was really funny and the headliner was hilarious and didnt disappoint. The server was very quick to come by and bring us drinks and super nice and helpful with questions. The hotel that the comedy club is in is really nice too. Clean bathrooms.Definitely make sure to get there an hour early because people do come in packs at one point and youll end up sitting in the back if you dont buy reserved seating tickets. Show was just about sold out the night before, reserved seating was sold out already, and only three tickets were left the day of. Theres also a nice bar at the hotel if you get there early. Beware though, beer costs $9. But definitely recommend this place and will be returning soon.

Everything was fine, but it just felt like we were all packed in like sardines. Tables and chairs were just too cramped. Service was fine, food was alright. Comedian was a hoot! I love the comedians however they pack everyone in a small room. Chairs and tables are too close together Food and drinks are overpriced. Poor quality of food and choices. Forced to get two item minimum per person! Not everyone wants to eat and drink at that time...especially what they are offering. They no longer offer pitchers of Sangria. Constantly being distracted from show due to servers asking you or people around you for orders and passing bill at the end of the show. Last show I went to it was dark in the room so I didnt realize that they automatically charged for their tip under SERVICE FEE! So I ended up leaving an extra tip! We ended up spending an extra $70. We used to be able to pick up tickets and save on the processing fee ...now that is no longer available. I used to go at least once a month and now since it has gotten so expensive I will only go maybe 2x a year!

Went to two shows recently and at both shows ordered Tanqeray Gin with Tonic water. Both times I wasnt servedTanqeray Gin. Very disappointed! I paid the bill but didnt say anything as I did not want to start a commotion. Also, for two people they add in an 18% surcharge! To me that is totally absurd. So although the comedians are very good, Ive lost some desire to go back there.

Nothing against the comedians they were great, but this place is trash. You are in a conference room, with a little stage with a black curtain up. The service is insanely bad, my group of 10 was waiting for our drinks so long I got up and went to the bar and the server was hanging out with our drinks on the tray. $33 for the tickets and $5 a water bottle, the prices are ridiculously high. I paid 2 different prices for the same drink that I ordered. Just not a great experience at all, I will not be returning to this expensive circus.

This is a new temporary Bananas location (Renaissance Meadowlands Hotel in Rutherford). This hotel has a very clean and elegant bathroom, has a full restaurant and bar called Finchs. As always the comedians are very talented and funny.Bananas do follow social distancing guidelines, the comedy room is located in a large conference room with a stage. The drink and food menu that Bananas offers is quite unlike Finchs menu. Bananas menu is quite limited with very few appetizers, entrees & drinks. We wish it offered a more varied entrees and drinks, such as Steaks, chops, coladas, frozen margaritas, etc. We would rather eat at Finchs restaurant than inside Bananas. The staff are very friendly and helpful; huge Thanks to Sam (Finchs bartender), Brian and Chelsea.

We came to Bananas Comedy Club to see one of our favorite comedians. We were a group of 4 people. Our ticket cost, including service charge, was $144. Our bill for ordering 2 items each, including mandatory 18% gratuity, was $108. So minimum cost for 4 people is about $252 or $63 each. Cant say it was worth it.The night had an mc warming up the crowd who needs way more experience before he should be awarded the task of keeping the crowd engaged and laughing. He has some bits that if he worked on them longer might be good, but his energy, delivery, and interactions with the audience were off putting at best, offensive at worst. The warm up act was fine and we loved our headliner who did about a 60 min set.As for the venue, its a conference room in a hotel so the set up looks a little bit amateurish, wish they had a slightly bigger stage, but its workable. As for the food, about the quality youd expect from a TGI Fridays or Applebees. We ordered mozzarella sticks, fries, and Mac and cheese bites and they tasted like they came from the grocery store. The drinks were fairly priced and that was certainly a plus in their favor.

HORRIBLE SERVICE! My boyfriend and I went there for something different. The headliner comedian Jeff Dye was hilarious! BUUUUUTTT, it was really difficult to listen and have fun because of the TERRIBLE service. We ordered a chicken ceaser salad and a house salad. It took 1 hour to receive our margaritas and 1.5 hours to receive our salads! People that arrived 30 minutes after us, we got there at 6:40pm for a 7:30pm show, were getting their drinks and meals BEFORE us! We never even had a waitress/waiter. Everytime we had to flag down someone walking past us. We were seated directly next to the kitchen. It took all of me to not walk back there myself. Instead I wen to the manager DURING the show bc we were starving. He eventually came to our table to apologize and asked us how he could make it better. I said that he could AT LEAST deduct our drinks, but we should be reimbursed for our entire meal. Well, the bill came...... $95 dollars! He took $4 off of our bill! Obviously we left no tip, bc we didnt even have a server to tip, and left how horrible our experience was on the bill. So, in the end, we spent $76 for our tickets to see an awesome comedian, $95 for 2 salads and 2 margaritas in a tiny plastic up and were given plastic forks. NEVER AGAIN! If they had compensated AT LEAST our 2 drinks, like we asked, I wouldnt be taking my time to find EVERY website I possibly can to give Rutherford Bananas Comedy Club 1 star. And the 1 star is bc I cant give a 0 and Jeff Dye was great! Wish we got to see his whole act instead of trying to flag someone down for our salads.

Didnt have a great experience here. The comedians were funny but the venue was disappointing. The comedy club is really just a hotel conference room. They seated everyone at these long, narrow tables which were very uncomfortable because there was no leg room so youre touching legs with the person in front of you. Also half the seats are facing away from the stage so you have to turn around the whole show. The other thing that I really didnt appreciate was the way they handled food and drink. Before the show started, servers went around and asked for everyones orders. Its a 2 item minimum for each person, which is a bit annoying but fine. My main issue with it is theres no prices on the drink menu so you have no idea what youre paying. They also automatically add 18% gratuity so we ended up with a $25 tab for two sodas and two water bottles.... Furthermore, they take your credit card and hold it during the show. That would be normal at a bar if you choose to have an open tab but I dont see any reason why they REQUIRE we do it here... They should just charge your card when you order.

We came in a party of 4 .. bought our tickets online.. I’ve never been to this location, but the hotel & lobby were really nice. The bar outside was really nice.. but I’m giving a review on the comedy show/club not the actual hotel ..so here we go ! why it’s getting two stars.. so they actually are utilizing the conference /banquet room of the hotel, which is fine, but they had the long rectangle tables set up like I was at a work meeting and we all had to turn our necks to look at the stage …. They didn’t even set up the tables in a different formation to be able to look str8 forward... It literally was like we were at elbow to elbow ,work conference. It was so uncomfortable and so poorly set up that it made us not wanna go back again. There is Nothing cozy here. Their website says—-“the hottest craft beers, as well as a full spread of entrees, desserts, and homespun cocktails in a relaxing, cozy atmosphere.”First two different beers we ordered from their list, They didn’t have any more -they were out. 🤨 of course after we try to get a server to stop. They ask for a credit card just to hold for the order which is fine, so then at the end when we wanted to split the bill, they charge the full amount to the card that they were holding without even telling us and besides the fact that our server was terrible and we couldn’t even get her to come back and bring us a drink . every time we tried to get her attention it would take her about 15 or 20 minutes. They had the nerve to charge us a gratuity. I’m sorry I’m not giving you a tip if you’re terrible -at least not that much. …

I would have like to see what I was charged for each item purchased. I received total and noticed on menu that gratuity will be added to bill however that too not clearly indicated on final bill. People like to know what they paid for just saying. Show was great as well as opening act for Jaime Lissow.

Went to Bananas last night for the first time, overall it was a very good experience and I would definitely go back again.Comedians - Anthony Rodia and Goumba Johnny were fantastic. Definitely recommend seeing them on their tour! The show did look like a legit sellout. After the show, Anthony gave out signed photos and also took pictures with everyone who wanted one (both at no cost). They were also selling tour T-shirts for $20.00 each.Parking - There were plenty of open spots when we arrived prior to the show, however when we left the lot seemed pretty full. I only saw 2 empty spaces when leaving. I would recommend getting here on the earlier side for a show and not coming at the last minute. There was also only 1 show last night so I can see how this can be an issue on a night with both an early and a late show. It’s also in a hotel so a busy night could lead to even less parking. The Club – You need photo ID and the email confirmation when you check in to go to your seats. The line moved very quick to get in. We had “reserved” seats and wound up getting seated right in front of the stage. The General admission seats were just a little farther back but it is a small “conference” room in the hotel. No matter where you sat it didn’t seem like there was a bad seat. From our seats it sounded great and there were no audio issues. The room is very plain, just tables setup with chairs and a small stage with a blue curtain behind it. Nothing fancy, but for a comedy show it worked. With the exception of a few tables up front for 2 people each, you will sit next to other people at a larger table.Service – Was very good and quick. Our waitress came over multiple times throughout the night and we did not have to wait long for our drinks to come out. She did not take a credit card when we ordered and took it from us when we paid our check. The bill came about 15 minutes before the show ended which was a perfect time for that. They do add a 18% “service charge” into the check.Food – We did not eat, however the people sitting next to us did and they enjoyed the food. Appetizers, Burgers, Pizza, etc… were on the menu and ranged from $7.00 to about $24.00. A lot of people ordered food and it all looked very good when it was coming out. I would not hesitate to order food if I was hungry the next time I go here.Drinks – They had beer, wine, mixed drinks, soda, water, etc… on the menu. There were no prices listed, however we were drinking Corona Light’s and they were $9.00 each. That’s the same price that the bar was charging in the lobby for a bottle of beer. Pretty expensive in my opinion, but it is what it is. Kind of expected the higher prices going in so it wasn’t a huge surprise. Not sure how much the other drinks were going for but I would think the hard alcohol would be priced higher. The high price for this is the only reason it is a 4 star review and not 5.

Ill start by saying the comedians were phenomenal for the show we went to see. The set up and seating however, was a joke. Im not really comfortable basically sitting on the lap of a person I dont know.. and they really cram the seats together. My leg was pressed into a bar on the side of the table the whole time and I left with pain in my neck from having to look sideways the entire night. To make matters worse, I was turned down to make a request for placement of reserved seating for the next show we attend. Im sorry, but why? If you have a guest buying tickets as soon as the event is posted, and the requested seats are available, then why cant that accommodation be made? Not sure if I will continue frequenting this venue unless they can figure out how to properly set up seating arrangements that dont make people feel uncomfortable.

We saw Adam Ferrara and he was EXCELLENT. He is the reason for even giving two stars. We would definitely see him again in a heartbeat but we would not return to Bananas Comedy Club. The parking was awful and we had to ask the front desk for help while other people were parking illegally and moving cones for designated parking spots. It was incredibly disappointing to then walk into the club which was just a hotel conference room with poor lighting and sound. We were crammed shoulder to shoulder at long tables and it was uncomfortable. We also had to strain our neck to watch the act because the tables were facing a different direction. The old location felt more like a club and it’s a shame that the new location is set up like this. I would understand if I was asking for a refund or date change, but I’m not. You would think bananas would want me to attend the show and give them food and beverage service ($$) and enjoy the experience so I come back and tell my friends… now I’ll just avoid it and tell my friends the same…EDIT: A general manager called me hours before the show and offered to do the transfer free of charge. Im glad that they called to rectify the issue, but disappointed that it took me leaving a bad google review and an email to management to get here. Went to the Bananas new location in Rutherford NJ very disappointed. I’ve been going to the location in Hasbrouck Heights for more than ten years. I’ve seen multiple comics there from Godfrey to Dave Attell and many in between. First, the parking is terrible now. The room for the comics looks like a conference room, very small and inadequate sound, it’s hard to hear if you’re in the back. Just two small speakers in the front. We ordered 2 beers and fries and chicken tenders. They were out of several items on a very limited menu. We ordered the food around 9:50 for the 10 o’clock show we didn’t get our food until 11:17, absolutely ridiculous. Other tables were served before our table because of some mixup of when the orders put into the system. When I complained to our waitress she said I was getting loud (I was not)and I shouldn’t wave her off. A member of the staff then asked us to leave because we were being rude. The manager ended up letting us stay for the rest of the show because they knew the waitress was overreacting. Needless to say not a good experience. Also the food was not as good as the Hasbrouck Heights location, mediocre at best. I am a manager myself and have employees in a customer facing job. This was just bad service and when the waitress was called out on it she got mad. The comic was excellent but everything else, not so much.

5 star for JR de Guzman but the venue and service most specially sucked. It is a conference hall turned into a makeshift comedy club. Except for a number of small round tables set next to a small stage, the rest are long conference tables set very close together which are quite uncomfortable. You’ll have to maneuver your seats to watch the show comfortably or get a crimped neck. Worse was the food service. We were the first ones who got seated and first to order food but for some unfortunate reason, we had to flag our server to inquire about our order when we noticed that people who came in later got their food first. Bananas is the best! My boyfriend and I have visited several times and we’re very happy about their arrangements for COVID. There’s plenty of space between guests and it’s nice knowing we can safely enjoy comedy shows. Every performance we’ve seen has been fun and beyond entertaining. Bananas has given us plenty of laughs that we’ve definitely needed to help put the gloom of 2020 behind us. Go out and support comedy!

I had bought tickets for the 10pm Annie Lederman show that was supposed to occur todayI show up and find out the event had been canceled. I received no email or any other form of the contact that the event had been canceled. Very disappointed and very much ruined my anniversary, as I had planned this specifically for my boyfriend. I have never dealt with anything as unprofessional as this. Will definitely never come to this place and I will be letting everyone I know about this experience.

Wow... I could not stop laughing!!! The comedians were/are hilarious. I was able to do the dinner combo with the show. Food, drinks and service were great. If youve been to a comedy club before you know that you can be picked on at anytime... of course me, the wife AND friends were pick (we had front row seats), jokes were told but you have to be a good sport. I will absolutely come here again. Will recommend to anyone.

I have been is some hole in the wall comedy clubs, this…. This wins. It’s a business center in the hotel. Granted, the talent that comes in is great, and they have lots of material around it being a board meeting or pta meeting room. The talent gets 5 stars but this venue…. Try a little at least. Throw up a fake brick wall or something.

Comedy was outstanding, but food and drinks were overpriced and tipping mandatory. Waited 1/2 hour in a long line only to be seated in a crappy location. Service was poor and the girl had attitude. Many other comedy places to go to in the area which are much better.

The past two New Years Eves have spent at Bananas to start the new year with laughs and smiles. I appreciate that there is an early show so I could spend time with family before the ball drops. Throughout the year I go to several shows and have always been pleased with the comedians.

For a suburban club, bananas did very well. There were only 3 comedians in addition to the host, but the showing on for at least an hour and a half. the main attraction was a comedian who would been on national television both in Americas got talent, where he did not win but came close, and on one of the late night talk shows. Within the usual pattern of variation, all the comedians were good. the crowd got a bit rowdy at time distracting from the show but ultimately it was a funny evening that the not require crossing the George Washington bridge. And for that one should always be grateful.

I recently saw Claudia Oshry and was very disappointed with Bananas VIP experience. The show started at 7 but we were told the meet and greet started at 5. Bananas staff literally rushed everyone through their photos and would even interrupt Claudia when she was trying to chat with her fans to say we needed to keep it moving. There wasnt even anyone behind them in line! Claudia was so sweet trying to engage with her fans and Bananas really rushed the experience for no reason as we still has TWO HOURS before the show. The VIP Meet and Greet was over by 5:20 and everyone who paid more than twice the amount of general admission was just left to sit in the room with nothing to do for over an hour and a half. I cant wait to see Claudia again but it will not be at Bananas!

I had bought tickets for a show on Oct. 15 2017. I got the flu and couldnt make it. Called and emailed for 2 weeks and got a response saying that I couldnt get a refund nor could I receive credit because coincidentally there was new ownership after the 15th. This place has the worst customer service. Relayed messages never get to the manager and they never respond to your concerns. All they care about is selling tickets. I have been here multiple times but no more. I dont recommend this place at all.

WARNING! you have to spend extra money on alcohol or food when you go to bananas comedy club. Even though when I purchased the ticket on their website or when reviewing my receipt or even the ticket i was given THERE WAS NO MENTION OF THIS EXTRA CHARGE. The waitress (rudely) informed me that if i didn’t buy anything I’d still be forced to pay a fee for sitting here. After going back to Bananna’s site I found this info buried at the bottom of the FAQ page. I didn’t realize getting shaken down for more money was a question I should ask.I’ll stick to watching my comedy shows on Netflix.
