Fun night out at the Taylor Swift DJ dance party! The place was sold out, which means there were 1000 people there. The crowd was nice dancing and exchanging bracelets. Very limited seating so maybe 30 people could sit at a table or bar for the 3 hour event. Great to find parking in a lot just a block away for $5 was great.
Ive been to Ace of Spades for only a few events. It gets better every time. The last event I paid for a GA ticket with the coat check add-on. The temps in March 2024 were in the upper 40s. A jacket was nice while waiting for the doors to open. While in line, attendants were checking ID and giving a wristband to those over 21. The line started moving efficiently about 40 minutes after doors opened. When we were able to cross the street, we made sure we had our digital tickets ready and were let through. They do allow small bags. But expect to have it searched. Once in the venu, the coat check was convenient. Hung up our coats and proceeded to the interior to enjoy the show. The bathrooms are gender neutral. There was a line for one bathroom as expected. Some fans went to the other bathroom without issues. There are areas where you can stand and sit. The staff is extremely good at keeping the lanes open for walking. I appreciate that. Bar service seemed quick. The only issue I found was that the standing room only area near the upper bar was super crowded when fans went to get a drink. When someone went to order, they cut right in front of our group. Other than that it was a good time.
Quality venue. Great sound, three full bars, however completely cashless so plan accordingly. Merch area is small, so can get crowded trying to get your band gear. They use metal detectors at entrance and they will search and bags/purses you bring in. There are no in/outs but there is an outside enclosed smoking area.
We attended a concert here (SOJA). It is open and small. There is no such thing as a bad spot in this venue.I always have fun here. The only down fall is because it is such a small venue, the drunk people are hard to avoid. Oh, and it can be very loud. I went last night (7/17) and my hearing is still suffering. Like I am under water and everyone is speaking high pitched. Other than that, I love this venue
I like this venue, parking is paid bc its in downtown ofc but getting in is very well organized and neat, even if a little time consuming, its not the biggest venue Ive been to but its pretty decent, my only main complaint is their bathrooms are all gender, so anyone and anything can just go into whichever one they want which I personally do not think is a good idea. Other than that its alright, the stage is in one corner and theres 3 bars in the other corners, a place to buy merch near the exit, and seating accommodation in the rear, and i even think they have complimentary water cups
Their restrooms are all gender bathrooms. At a concert with a bunch of drunks that isn’t safe for women in my opinion. First venue I’ve been to that has isles that need to be kept clear so you’re stuffed into squares like sardines. Security has a heavy presence on the floor. The biggest thing for me was the bathrooms. Boo.
Excellent venue. Coat check came in handy. Love that they keep the air circulating, so it never feels stuffy especially while youre drinking. 😆 Id have to say the only complaint was we couldnt hear what the artist was saying on stage half the time, but couldve been his doing with the mic. Otherwise great time. Perfect size venue to see an intimate show. Viewing is great from anywhere. Getting in was a breeze, as was ordering at the bar. Staff is friendly and helpful.
I have seen countless shows at Ace of Spades over the years. A smaller venue but always fun. Staff is extremely friendly. Only time I’ve had a poor experience was picking up will call and trying to get through. The lady would not listen when I told her I needed to pick up will call. Finally got her to listen and got my tickets. Aside from this one experience which was the most recent (5/20) the staff has always been great. The restrooms are clean, which is always a plus. The sound quality and lighting are great quality, always creating an immersive experience for the audience.Minor drawback is that the merchandise area can get a bit crowded at times due to its small size. However, this doesnt overshadow the overall great experience Ive had at Ace of Spades. The energy and excitement during shows are unmatched, and I always have an amazing time when I visit.Ace of Spades never fails to deliver an unforgettable experience.
Dude my 1st show at Ace of spades Prof performed. That fool could rock show. Loved the balcony seating. My favorite spot to watch live music. Not sure the capacity but it was still intimate being a Hip Hop show. Several bars are located throughout the venue. Place is Dope youll be seeing more of my business.
Decent-sized venue with a great layout. It has three accessible bars, friendly staff, and clean bathrooms. Even when packed full, the mosh be moshing, and its nasty hot outside, it never feels warm inside. They show great bands and its close to other great foods spots! Its been become my go-to spot. 👌
Love this venue! Intimate setting to see live music. The bar tenders are great too! The guy at the front bar has a great sense of humor and loves to have fun while doing his job.
The ace of spades is such a cute venue! i loved the decor and the retro vibes it has to it. the only concern i had was how many people were in the room… it was kind of scary!! like i couldn’t really believe it passed fire regulations LOL. most people were really touching shoulders so it felt very stuffy. also, it isn’t fair for those who came in first, only for people who just walked in to make their way in-front of us and block our view :( i think besides that and the claustrophobic feeling, this was a good venue for my first concert experience.
Cool venue. Staff were friendly and professional in handling the line outside and processing entries. The interior itself is nice and has a decent sized open floor as well as upper level and balcony seating. Got to see the big Buckethead himself and it was an incredible show. Great lighting and sound.
One of my favorite venues in Sacramento. Big but cozy. Upper loft area and good size floor for dancing or moshing. Very very good lighting and visual aesthetic. Sound is killer also. Would recommend going to a show here. Ive seen many different genres over the years. They are always great shows at Ace of Spades. Also late night eats all around for after the show!
Visited for my first time for Cradle of Filth 2023 and checking into the venue was easy. Great size. I appreciate the white lines on the floor to help with traffic coordination!! So smart.Cool vibe, great art work. 3 bars and an outdoor smoking area.Staff and security were nice and seemed like they didn’t mind being there/working. Often times it’s easy to have bouncers or line checkers be rude or look like they hate their lives but they did not give this vibe.Concert was great. Fair prices too.I actually appreciated their event calendar in the bathrooms!
The sound is great, the staff is friendly, the drinks are strong, and the bathrooms are clean. I am not a fan of the tape on the floor, walkway setup. Its so hard to get in and out of the crowd without being rude to your fellow concert-goers. I decided to just stay against the back wall to avoid any frustration. Still had an amazing time regardless.
What is there to even say about Ace of Spades? Its a Sacramento classic and my go-to venue for shows. The bar is always great, rotating signature cocktails are delicious, and staff is always friendly. Its crowded, loud, and always full to capacity, so make sure that you prepare for that. Otherwise get ready to enjoy the show!
I attended an event at Ace of Spades and really enjoyed working with their staff, who were very friendly, accommodating, and professional. Dylan, one of the managers, was great to work with. I look forward to coming back to see a show.
I saw AJJ here in 2022. One of the best concerts I’ve been to. I love the smaller intimate venue. I also saw The Offspring here years ago, they opened up the balcony area for more people. You can get chips and water at the bar, and the bathrooms are nice. You have to park a block or two away but its not bad at all. Definitely show up early if you want to get close to the band. I’m excited to go here for more concerts in the future.
Went to see Pepper!! Definitely buy seats!!!! I ended up buying 2 seats upstairs and it will be the only way I ever see another concert at Ace of Spades!! We were roped off, had table service from the bar and could see the band PERFECTLY!! It was monitored the whole time since people of course want to sneak over to where we were but they were immediately told to leave, which was awesome! Definitely recommend always buying a seat unless of course you want to stand the whole time down in the pit. But for us had a blast!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Have been here many times now over the years and always have the same pleasant experience. I dont usually eat/drink here so cant comment on that aspect but I never have an issue with staff, cleanliness, restrooms, or bad vibes from people. As a petite female who usually goes here for girls night I always feel safe and have a great time!
Great small venue, excellent vibe, standing room, also sitting room for people who are disabled or pay a bit extra. Very convenient. Food and Alcoholic beverages and non alcoholic beverages, the venue is all ages. Bar is decent if slightly pricey but hey! Great acoustics, I saw Gary Numan with Front Line Assembly opening, the bass is great. FLA and Gary Numan were both class acts, and its very nice to have standing room next to the artists! Definitely would recommend and the next show if its an artist I like, I will be there!
First time at this venue, but was highly recommended. Location is excellent, very close to bars and restaurants for the pre concert festivities. Access and security were fairly standard, once inside the layout and bar provide good flow. Sound and acoustics were average. Get there early for close parking.
Ive heard of the Ace of Spades for years and finally got to check it out at the Circle Jerks, Adolescents and Negative Approach show on February 26, 2022. It was a great show and I really liked the venue. I liked the set-up, the sound was perfect, and the staff including bouncers were all very nice and cool - which I dont know why so often the staff at clubs feel the need to have an attitude like theyre doing you a favor by letting you be there. When people were crowd surfing and made it to the front, the bouncers helped them down into the area between the barrier and the stage and politely showed them their way to the side where they would go back into the crowd. Im definitely looking forward to more shows at the Ace of Spades.
Loved all of the places you could watch the show from. a perfect place to people watch is up in the stairs. security was quick to resolve problems and clean puke. the bathrooms are clean for a place that constantly has headbangers, as are the floors even with the beer going in and out of everyones bodies.
Great place to see a concert. Terrible place to buy a drink. $17 for a tall hazy. The pizza place across the street is a fantastic place to get a beer or five.
Ive watched several shows here and every time is a good time. Bartenders are accommodating. Theres a coat check which I like since I dont want to carry my thick jacket while enjoying the show.I really enjoy this venue. They also have great performers that do shows so I know ill be back!
My friend got drugged here last night at pride prom, and security didnt believe us, just insisted she had a lot to drink (she had 1 margarita and was sipping a can of wine), and she was in tears telling them something was wrong, and nobody believed her, they kicked us out of the venue, saying she needed to sober up, as we were both trying to explain it wasnt just alcohol. please be wary of your drinks here.
Now that Live Nation owns this venue they have become extremely proficient at separating one from ones money. So unless you are rich, follow these steps. STEP 1. DO NOT PURCHASE EARLY ENTRY. all this buys you is an extra hour drinking $16.00 beers or $20+ mixed drinksSTEP 2 PRE-GAME. lots of great bars in the area. Get your drinks pre concert. Dont buy Aces over priced drinks. STEP 3 SHOW UP 1 HR AFTER DOORS OPEN there are no seats unless you want to pay $70. Yes a chair for the night costs $70.00. Show starts usually an hour 15 or hr 30 after doors open so limit standing time by showing up close to show time. Other than expensive, the venue is OK. Sound in area left of the stage is bad so stay in the main floor. A waiter spilled a beer on me and did not even apologize. So know staff is not trained. I much prefer Harlows or Trading post but Ace gets some good acts. Has to be something really special for me to go there.
I noticed when there are black people black rappers I should say perform it’s always a load of cops outside. I will never come to this place again the YG concert I recently went to was packs of police outside but when I went to the Taylor Swift listening concert probably like one or two cops outside, when I went to the SOB X RBE concert a few years back Hella police when I went to G Herbo hella police …. It’s sad but I guess
Love this small venue. Been here four times so far. Wouldnt recommend it for kids under 14, for most shows, but check the show details beforehand.
Great concert. Declan McKenna. Halloween night. Lots of costumes. Got there 2 hours early to get a good spot on the floor but the band bus broke down en route so we waited outside another hour for a total of 3 hours in the cold. Mostly young crowd but a few old folks like me as well. For future reference, the line to get in is across the street (not in front of the buiding). Look for an easy-up with a radio station logo and event staff. Because of the late start, the opening act didnt perform.
Nice venue, cool atmosphere, but $100 for a ticket upgrade to be able to sit down is not for me.
Our first time at this venue was incredible. Only 1000 people makes a concert feel so personal. We were able to get right up front and Phantogram was so amazing! The sound system was great, the lights were great, the bar area was crowded but moved quickly. We had a great time and will definitely go again.
We came to see Twitch Angry, they opened for the Dead Kennedys!!! Holy cow! What a great venue! Plenty of places to get beverages, everyone checking to make sure theres no underage drinking. Backdoor load in, private pre-staging, merch area and plenty of room for the mosh pitt that looks like a tornado of people! All ages venue! Totally cool!
Saw Crosses and a few other bands play here. I always have a great time here. Its kinda small, but I like that!
I used to love this venue, but it’s drastically gone downhill. For starters, they always overbook the events. I went to the Collie Buddhz concert and you could hear the staff telling one another that there was too many people, because they allowed their friends into the venue. So, people who actually pay for tickets can barely find a place to stand, because the staff allows non ticket purchasers to come in the event anyways. This is not the first experience I’ve had with this bar engaging in over capacity bookings. I also realized that everyone smokes cigarettes, so I’m unsure if this is allowed or if the staff just doesn’t regulate smoking rules. If you want to enjoy a show and have room to walk and breathe I wouldn’t recommend this venue. So sad that they let it deteriorate so quickly.
Great place to see your favorite band. Alcohol is reasonably priced, tickets usually arent that expensive, and its bigger than it looks from the outside. Just do yourself a favor and purchase the upgraded seating if you can: the floor can get VERY crowded, and youre likely to get beer spilled all over you.
Awful venue! I got there 45 minutes before and didn’t get in until after the show started. They intentionally don’t let people in the venue so they can have an employee walk up and down the general admission line trying to convince people to buy a “lightning lane” pass to skip the line for $20. It got so bad people were sitting on the pavement waiting to be let in.
Staff are rude and not professional. I Recommend finding another place if I could go lower than one star I would have. Bars are hard to get to and slow service. There are better options in Sacramento
I went to Ace of Spades this past weekend to see Nate Smith perform and the entire experience was unpleasant. I dont know how theyre up to fire code with the amount of people they crammed in there. The show was sold out, but the Live Nation money grab surely bumped the crowd beyond maximum occupancy. We did a lap around the u-shaped aisle and there was nowhere to stand, while security simultaneously wont let anyone pause for a second in the aisle to look for a path into the crowd. I definitely dont need to be next to the stage, but I would have expected to find a place to stand that wasnt literally in the back hallway. It was so crowded that it didnt feel safe, and thats where I draw the line.
Havent been back in many years but Our Last Night did not disappoint! Staff was friendly and parking was easy. 100% recommend!
Great venue. Wonderful customer service. They also have a coat check, $5.Fyi, when ordering a shot, ask for a double. Its usually only $5 extra on most spirits
Best place to see a concert in Sac. I always have a good time when I see a show here. Good energy and the place feels safe. Drink prices are a bit high
Saw the Voidz here and it was pretty awesome! BEARDO put on a show that was both comedic and pulled off flawlessly as a performing musician! He was acting so over-the-top as if he was a caricature of a lead guitarist and thus, was so classic! I was reminded that music can be fun and silly without sacrificing depth and musicality. Julian Casablancas is my all-time FAVORITE singerwhich in my opinion, and the fact that you can be so down to earth between songs when you were takking about watching Road House and the torn rhing
Ace of Spades is a good venue, but does have issues. I usually just buy general admission tickets. However for the Atmosphere concert I purchase upgrade seating. Seats 71 and 72. This was great at first but, as the venue filled people started crowding the area and having extremely loud conversations directly behind us. I mean they were pretty much touching us. The red rope guards just got moved as people filled the upstairs. People behind us were also placing their drinks on our reserved bar seating area. Also people who did not pay to be in the reserved area kept coming in. At first the staff was on top of it, but halfway through the show it was a free for all. Our server Rita was trying her best to be security on top of doing her job. I feel the only reason was mainly because I kept asking about individuals who were not supposed to be in there. We ended up heading down stairs to finish the show, and Im glad we did. The sound quality was much better down on the floor, it was sort of muffled upstairs. I will most likely be back but Im not buying reserved seating again. No point! Its just a way for the venue to rob you of money. $80 on top of your ticket price for people breathing down your neck, sneaking in, sitting and smoking next to you all while no one enforcing the area. If youre going to have a reserved area. Make it reserved. It really put a damper on the night and show. The vibe at ground level was much more relaxed and joyful, and the air much more ventilated.
Had Great experience showing art at this location! The Ace of Spades staff all were on the ball tonight and the space itself was clean, perfect temp and decently lit! I was worried it would be either too cold with the doors constantly opening, or too warm since it was a packed night, but some how they managed it!
This is my all time favorite venue in all of Sacramento. It’s a perfect mix in between small and big. There’s seating on both sides, reserved for people over 21. And there’s 3 bars. It’s kept very very clean. There’s an upstairs area that’s also for 21+ (I think) they’re very strict about carding. The security is attentive. Best thing is to show up after doors open, about thirty minutes after. The venue is so intimate and it doesn’t mean that you will be stuck at the back. You can easily make it to the front even when showing up later. Park across the street in the parking garage!! It’s only like $12. Bring earplugs if you’re sensitive to sound, this place is bumping!
Ace of Spades stands out as a premier venue for music enthusiasts, regularly hosting big-name bands, rappers, and singers. The sizeable indoor space provides an excellent setting for live performances, accommodating large audiences without compromising on the overall experience. One of the notable features is the well-thought-out layout, including three bar areas. With efficient bar service, excellent restroom accommodations, and a well-designed outdoor smoking area, it stands as a top-tier venue for those looking to enjoy live music in a comfortable and dynamic setting.
Dont bring any friends under 21. Or if you do make sure they dont raise their cell phone up or they will get kicked because there phone looked like alcohol. Even tho they sell liquid death. Which is not alcohol. Thank anyway
Ace of Spades has always been a good place to see a band. I have seen several shows and took my daughter to her first concert here. Aside from the parking, which I dont believe is operated by the venue, I have had great experiences. The bass and sound profile are better than the larger places and you get get a more personal vibe. The food is something I cant comment on, because I didnt order any the last couple of times I was there. It can get packed pretty quickly, so get there early to get a good spot picked out or you could get stuck in the back(which is still not a bad place to watch from). The drinks I have ordered have been a little bit of a wait but still not to bad considering the amount of people that are ordering. You have to expect a wait of some kind like at all concerts. This place gets 5 stars from me for being a well rounded experience every time I have been to Ace of Spades.
They overbook shows to the point you cant fit in their designated areas then yell at you for being in the walkways.
It was a great night, and the bands were fantastic. We truly enjoyed our time at the show. Drinks were well made as well. The only thing I would do to improve the place is to add some seating at the bars. While there are seats there, you have to pay extra for them. I would recommend this place and cant wait to return.
Harassed about my seizure medications and medical cannabis, despite them allowing multiple people in front to me with vape pens and weed inside. Checked my bag multiple times, dropped my medications all over the ground outside, and made me stand for over ten minutes while digging through my bag and questioning me multiple times about my emergency seizure nose spray and my regular seizure medication, that I have to take at the same time everyday and therefor have to have with me. Will not come back here again for any reason. I will also be reporting to the ADA for discrimination against me for my disability.
Love that they host so many shows, sometimes they oversell and it gets a little too crowded, in my opinion. Make sure to not stand in the walkways because they do get on you, which is nice, but sometimes you get pushed into people by mistake
Money hungry, cramped, terribly designed venue. Bottlenecks towards the back so leaving or using the bathroom is a pain. They treat anyone who doesnt buy a fast pass or VIP like a peasant. Will not be returning to this venue, ever again.
Fun venue. They recently went cashless for some reason though(terrible idea) so bring your cards if you want to buy anything. Otherwise youll have to convert your cash to a gift card. Sound system is great so if recommend hearing protection of some sort. Great place to catch a show
Fantastic Venue for a concert. There isnt a bad spot in the place. We saw ZZ Ward here and we opted to stand near the back, but it still felt super close. All staff members were great as well and we are looking forward to going back.
This venue needs to be evaluated for maximum capacity again. I have seen 3 or 4 shows here and every single time there are more people than there is space for them to stand. The taped off area cannot fit as many admitted ticket holders as there always are. It’s ridiculous. I don’t understand why it’s such a reputable venue and bigger artists always come here first. There are better venues in Sacramento to go to.
I hated the venue. I went with crutches during to an ankle injury and I was kicked out of the ADA seats since you let people reserve the seats (that have no reason to be in ADA). I had to pay twice for parking. I purchased my parking in advance and nobody knew where the parking garage was. Once inside I was stuck near the front door due to nobody wanting to move for me. However, once an attractive women went through the crowd (who moved for her) I, as quickly as I could, followed behind. I thought I found a seat in ADA, but even though your website stated that ADA is first come first serve, reservations are on all of the seats (I looked to see if I could make those reservations beforehand, but your website said I couldnt because of first come first serve policy).
Cool spot to catch shows and have a good time. The security team was on point! A small fight broke out, killing the vibe but security jumped on it and got the party back on. After that ended the crowd was awesome. Nothing but love and respect to the artists and the scene.
Excellent venue and staff! They make the experience great, and no matter where you are in the crowd, it feels like youre very close to the artist. The sound mix is well done, and the location is convenient to parking.
It exists and has good bands that come through. They seem to be trying to improve the experience but it always ends up too crowded
This place has had its ups and downs... but this last week was a great experience! They didnt sell out/oversell so it was mucg for comfortable. Thank you to security/Allen for helping my wife and I get situated with the meet and greet. Shout out to Travis behind the bar too, always quick getting us our drinks!
A great venue, no matter where you are at, you have a direct view of the stage, the staff was very professional, and awesome. It was my first time there, and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who hasnt been there yet! also BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME WAS EPIC!! 2nd time seeing them, defiantly not the last!!!
Been to plenty of shows here. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Food and drinks are a bit pricey but in alignment with other venues. Read the rules on the website before coming to make sure you have a good time.
Thanks for the invitation to the concert. I want to go there to see the bands but i just cant. I remember when i was standing in the back in a meet n greet line. Everyone was standing against the wall. I stepped out away from the wall and a bouncer grabbed my shoulders and slammed me against the wall and told me to stay in line. Im an older person and I could break. I love some of the bands, just dont trust the safety.Scary
This venue is Awesome!! Lots of bars inside, so you can always grab a Drink no matter where you are in the venue. The stage is high, so you can see the bands well, even if standing farther back. The sound is good, lighting is perfect vibes and there are air vents all around, so stays cooler than a lot of venues Ive been to for concerts, packed full of people. The staff is helpful and friendly. Would go to a concert here any time they have someone I enjoy.
Cant wait to talk to a manager about my daughters experience last night. Trash security that bullies little girls. If youre a manager or owner of this place, please contact me about how it belittle young women and steal from them.Just trying to see if this was securities fault or this is your standard practices in business
Ace of Spades is my favorite local venue for live music. It always such a fun experience. The service is great, and the vibes are always right. Love how conveniently located it is too. There are many restaurants and bars surrounding the venue if you’d like to go have fun somewhere prior to a show.
I’ve seen dozens of shows at the Ace of Spades over the years, and I have always appreciated the intimacy of the space and the variety of areas they have to accommodate everyone’s comfort level. You can be right in front of the stage on the floor, or you can enjoy the seating in any of the balcony areas if you would rather sit back to enjoy the show.
I had hearing loss and tinnitus from a concert I attended here! The sound was too loud, and I couldnt move back because it was too crowded. Im quite sure there are more people who had hearing damage. The venue is responsible for this. I do not recommend it; its not worth it.
The wait time to get in was a bit outrageous. But once we were inside, everything was great! The sound was perfect, the bartenders were really courteous, and there was plenty of room to dance without feeling squished. I would recommend Ace of Spades, as long as you get there early or youre prepared to wait an hour outside when its 95 degrees.
Wasnt expecting much and was blown away. Great venue, especially at 1000 capacity. Its just big enough to accommodate major artists, while retaining the intensity of a small show. The layout is pretty good, with multiple bars and segregated pathways leading to them. The sound was pretty good too, though I felt the bass to be lacking. The ambiance is 100% metal, with a buttload of interesting wall art. The only downfall? They frown on cannabis Vapes, the smoking section is miniscule, and the drinks are radically overpriced, especially given the size of their shots. Still, one of the better venues in Sac!
I recently went to Ace of Spade August 8, 2018. For a concert of Yuridia.. even though Yuridia has an amazing angel voice and all her dancers, moves and theme was amazing.. the athmosphere of the club was not what i expected. It was extremely hot, way to small for an artist like her. And i only bought one drink because it was impossible to walk to the bar since it was packed... hopefully they can find a solution.
We saw the Wailers last night. Staff was great. Sound was good. Drinks were good. Esp liked the option to upgrade from GA to seats in different sections of venue. It was our first time there. We had a blast.
This place has a big stage and plenty of room to dance. Security is tight and on their job, walking around and watching everything. They scan your ID when you pass the seurity at the door, so have them out and ready. They had a $13 Modelo tall can special and they sold out from what I heard. Either way, the band sounded great and overall, a good time.
Great sound, no bad seats in the house. It reminds me of being in the bowl at the amphitheater. Amazing experience. Great staff take very good care of their guests. Multiple bars, smoking patio. They have a bag check for 5.00, the less you have on you the quicker you get through security.
Been to a few concerts here, and its a cool place, so its a shame they keep overbooking the venue. The last few times Ive gone there, there has been nowhere to stand. They are selling way too many tickets which kind of ruins the experience. But I do really like the venue! It has a neat old school feel. But its such a bummer to cram in like sardines and still get spoken to by staff for being in the way :/
Pros: Good accoustics and perfect sized venue. Food and drinks are available. Staff is very nice. Plenty of bathrooms (all are unisex). The bands were amazing, and put on a great show!Cons: the way they sell swag makes for very long wait since only one person (or a together group) can shop and buy at a time. It would have been helpful if we could see what is available while in line it could have saved time.SUPER con: There is very little seating available, and none are free. They charge an exorbitant amount for a seat from $60 to $80 each! Hell, my show tix didnt even cost that much!! I felt very ripped off as an ADA person who was not able to stand through the entire 4+ hour show.
Had a GREAT time at Electric Feels!!! Thanks Ace of Spaces for bringing it!! People were friendly, drinks were flowing and all was well. Only ehhh thing I have to say is A/C!!!Omg there were wayyyy too many people in there for the A/C system to be intermittent. All vents needed to be blowing the whole time. I vent hopped lol because I wanted to keep dancing without having to stop for napkins/paper towels.
Saw Trish toledo concert and sat in the balcony. Our waitress was great but the chicken wings ordered couldve had more than 5 wings. Everything else was great
Although the prices of any beverage is on the level of ridiculousness, the staff keeps the venue as safe and organized as any I have frequented. The sound level is within reason of what a concert should be. The staff last night was quick to remove drunk patrons, before they caused any more problems than they already had. The crowd was able to focus on the music and not being bothered.
I used to be a regular at Ace of Spades, after the last three shows, especially the one last night, I wont be coming back. The venue is way OVER SELLING the shows. There is nowhere to be inside the venue. We couldnt see the stage without pissing someone off by either touching them or blocking someone elses view. Personally, I dont want to be forced to touch strangers in order to get a half view of the stage. We left before the headliner even got on stage. We were very disappointed.
I sustained permanent hearing damage after attending a Queensryche concert in March 2023, due to ridiculous volumes by the sound technician. Ive been going to concerts all of my life, and have played in live bands for years and I have never been subjected to volumes like in this show. The high ranges, especially, were through the roof. Between songs I could hear the guys behind me complaining the sound guy is a f---n idiot!. Many around me were angry as it not only was dangerous and irresponsible, but just sounded horrible. The opening bands were extremely loud as would be expected from a heavy metal show, but the technician significantly increased the volume for the main act. When I heard the volume of the sound check, I was sure that was a mistake and there was no way they were going to play that loud. I was wrong.I now have to live with permanent tinnitus (ringing in my ears) and there is no cure or treatment for that. I have sustained permanent hearing loss that is also incurable. I will never attend this venue again as long as I live.If anyone knows a good lawyer or also attended this concert, let me know.
Drinks are crazy expensive! I paid 31 bucks for 2 cans of beer smh but other than that the atmosphere was good!
Ive been here for quite a few different concerts from Tech Nine, to X Ambassadors, hell even Cobra Starship. Overall its very personal when youre watching the band because everybodys so close its nothing like when youre at a concert outside and people are smashing you against the gate just to get up front, it kind of feels like everyones up front the music could be a little bit finely-tuned, and the drinks could definitely not be as expensive, as for security I stood on the stairs for most of concert because Im short as hell and no one told me to get down like usual so on occasions they have good security and on the other occasions their security could be jackasses. I guess its really about how you present yourself as a person whether they let it slide or not the only negative thing I really have is the line outside is ridiculous but I liked it and Ill definitely be going back besides anything is better then the Boardwalk.
Great smaller venue that gets A list performers! Ive seen 10 plus performances there, and all have been my favorite shows. Its very intimate, the performers are usually really stoked by the crowd participation. Pro tip get at least 2 drinks at a time from bars. The lines are longish. The bathroom wait isnt too bath for ladies.
Great time at the Prof show. I love the venue. Balcony seating is a must if you want to watch the show sitting. Nice little food menu.
People leaving good reviews from this place must just not go to many different venues. This is without a doubt the most annoying venue you can attend. They have walkways taped off that youre not allowed to stand so youre all crowded into small areas around the place. There is metal railings separating everything so its really hard to navigate. On top of that the staff is constantly patrolling the place with flashlights out so it kind of feels like youre in a prison. If youre even holding a beverage expect them to shine the flashlight on you at least a few times until they realize you have the right wristband on. Also staff just has an overall very authoritarian attitude. Just a very off vibe for a concert venue not relaxed at all. Also they way over sell so all the areas that they have taped off are completely packed with people and you can barely find a spot to stand. And on top of that there are areas that are available for upgrade so they essentially overpack the venue and then ask you to pay if you dont want to be packed in like sardines. Also the sound system of the place just isnt that great doesnt sound great when it gets really loud. Dont get me wrong if theres somebody you want to see playing here then go for it just realize its not going to be like a lot of other venues. Still had great time seeing Waterparks DESPITE this awful venue.
They take your photo to be able to get in, really creepy. and let you pay extra $20 to get in first, pretty scummy
Went to see a show here last night. This place has a cool reto rock vibe. The staff were really friendly and kept all the crowd moving nicely. The guy with a red Mohawk was super upbeat and all the ladies were really cool. So the employees rock! The place has several bars so you never wait to get a drink, thats a plus. The negative if you will is not selling bottle water. I know its not huge on anyones list but I dont drink so, bottle water would have been nice. They do have water available to get in cups, but I prefer bottle. Also paying $40 bucks for a seat. I didnt mind buying a seat but my friends complained. Thats how you make money. Capitalism at its finest! Its America baby! Parking was easy get to. Overall I would definitely come back to see more shows.
I’ve had great experiences and bad ones. It’s been wayyy too loud at times, which makes it hard to hear. It’s been wayyy too hot at times. And it’s been wayyy too crowded. But it’s a concert venue, so that’s part of the experience. Ace of Spades is nestled in my favorite area of Sac the R Street District is amazing. You can grab food and drink all on the same block as Ace.
I like that theres multiple bars to grab a drink so theres never a long line or wait time. Plenty of stalls in the bathroom, floors clearly marked for foot traffic, the stage can be seen well from anywhere in the venue, everything just makes perfect sense! Small outdoor patio area to grab some fresh air, but couldnt find a place to sit. Anyway, it really is the perfect intimate venue for any show.
Very safe environment! They were very thorough checking everyone into the concert. Also, the staff were very polite. Great show!!
Trash. Used to be such a great venue. I was just there, I paid $80 for two tickets for myself and my sister. It was her first show. I had her hold my drink for 30 seconds while I asked a staff member a question. They in turn kicked us out because they said I was giving alcohol to a minor. There was nowhere for me to set my drink down, and they got on me if I “stepped over the tape” to set my drink on the bar. So I was out of options. Not once did they say anything, staff watched me hand my sister my drink temporarily and said nothing. They waited until I took it back from her to “take us outside”, lecture us, and then kick us out. I’m disgusted. I’ll never go back to this venue no matter what.
I went to the Redo Pride prom event on Sunday, June 25, 2023. I went alone, but I met so many interesting, loving, and wonderful people I had a great time. I wish it was on a Saturday, so I could have drank, lol, but I still had fun either way. I hope they do that event again!
This venue is a drag. I think three times about attending a show here. It’s my least favorite of all the venues within the area. It’s always over packed/over-sold, over priced, and this venue has a “corporate” atmosphere. It feels dirty and is worse than a dungeon. The staff is constantly herding the crowd like cattle.Such a bummer because so many great bands come thru here.
Spacious yet intimate venue, good drinks. The best part was the staff. They were all amazing. I went to a show recently with my little one in tow and every person I talked to was super caring and friendly. They made suggestions as to where to stand/go and assured me that my diaper bag was allowed in 😄It was a great experience with great energy. Everyone felt it. Great show.
Unbelievable how these guys can judge a person by a scan of a Id and then not be let in to the venue. This place is a joke . Let u buy a ticket then not let you in for no apparent reason at all.Ill never spend a dollar here again. Not that my 1 person makes a difference. But this joint is a joke.
Collie BudzThis was my first concert at Ace of Spades. I really enjoyed the venue. The atmosphere was inviting and the sound was fantastic. Collie Budz was a reggae concert and the event was Cannabis friendly. There was a very long line to get inside but I was able to make my way to the front. It waa a bit chilly inside and the drinks were way over priced and weak.
The security obviously need to learn some people skills. These guys are the first people the customers come in contact with and they are rude and aggressive. My 17yr old daughter went to a show there. She was so excited only her second show and I allowed her to go with her friends it was a big deal!! My daughter and her group of friends got their bracelets and apparently one of the girls had an unopened white claw in her pocket so she took it out and set it down before going into the show and the security would allow them in. So you ruined four teenage girls night because one of them had an unopened drink that she voluntarly removed from her pocket before entering, but you didnt servh any of them for weapons??? ACE OF SPADES YOUR SECURITY IS BAD FOR BUSINESS!
Loved the atmosphere, the bars were quick, easy access to gender neutral bathrooms. The staff were pleasant and worked quickly to get us in to our event.
Dope. My friend lost his phone and wallet crowd surfing with me at Imminence. We found both in lost and found and whatnot.
Small venue. Color theme is black with with clear Rock n roll vibe.. Literally not a bad seat in the house. Speaking of seats they are only in the balcony area or along the sides. We knew that going in so we wore the right foot wear to stand for GA tickets. Cool vibe. Large bars and several of them so lines were never that long for drink. Air conditioning was blowing. Sound system was excellent. Not too loud and could hear the artist not just the band. Once the concert is over there is no hanging out. They are very assertive with the ushering process. We had a great time and look forward to going back to catch another artist. 🤘🏼
I love this place. It makes you feel like your at a big show, while being just small enough to be close to your favorite bands. Always great sound and light display. Ive been to a few shows here and Im never disappointed with this venue.
Amazing venue with great staff. The female bartenders I interacted with were so kind and understanding. The venue itself is large enough for lots of people but still so intimate. I was on the second floor upper balcony, practically as far away as I could be from the band, and I STILl felt super close. It was amazing. Absolutely loved this venue and cannot wait to attend another concert here soon.
Its not bad but its not amazing either. the no moshing/crowd surfing sign reminds me how santized this place is. People with beer standing in the front rows cause youre not allowed to dance. weak.
The crowd was great! The vibe was perfect! It was really stuffy in there though they need more airflow. Of the two bartenders there the lady was the best. The guy bartender tended to yell and seem as though he couldnt hear, a bit too much. I understand we are at a live concert but the lady bartender heard me just well every time I replaced an order. Thats why she got tipped more!🤟
I had so much fun Here its a little bit small but its very fun
