If you look at my history of reviews you can see that I really dont leave poor reviews anywhere. I spoke to someone who is presumably the owner to try to redeem a gift card my friend had bought me for a specific massage. From the get go the person on the other side of the phone was confrontational hostile and generally rude. Whats really troubling is she told me that the gift card in my possession was only worth half the value of the massage that it has listed and I told her wow the price doubled? I asked well then what is the monetary value of my gift card so that I can redeem whatever the value is. She had no idea. She was also just generally rude I had to call multiple times and during the last transaction was literally saying terrible s*** about me while I was still on the phone because she thought she had hung up. At the end of the day I will just not redeem this gift card thats probably worth at least $120 because I would not want to be in the presence of this human being. With 3.6 stars this place cant be good. Hopefully they can get some better customer service skills.
Do not waste your time or money!I’ve been a massage therapist and business owner for almost two decades, and I would never recommend this place. The owner, who rarely answers the phone (it took hours for her to call me back to even book appointments), took total advantage of us and showed her lack of human empathy. We flew in from Chicago, our plans changed, and we called as soon as we landed at 11:40 a.m. to cancel our reservations for 11a.m. appointments the next day! 40 minutes past the 24 hour mark and this woman charged us full price! Not a percentage of the service, but the full price. She initially said she would only charge us if she couldn’t rebook the appointments, yet charged us a couple hours after we cancelled our appointment. We don’t have proof she didn’t rebook those appointments, especially since it takes a plethora of calls to get her on the phone.When I called back to inquire about her cancellation policy that was NOT stated on her website at the time she got defensive and HUNG UP ON ME!! Followed by an afternoon of her texting me while I was on vacation with my mom and sister with justification for why she charged us and why she hung up on a paying customer. She also kept calling me by other peoples names. Get the peoples names right that your screwing out of $700! She didn’t give up and kept texting about how I should understand because I’m in the industry. I said I would never pull what she pulls.Absolutely unethical, a terrible business owner, and extremely unprofessional. Again, do not waste your time or money.She also charges $10 more for a ‘nut free’ massage service. Like having an allergy should constitute paying more for less ingredients.
The massage therapists are good but the owner or the person who provided the customer service is rough around the edges and a little rude. And since when does the customer pay tax on a massage which she added to the listed price? Because of that we gave the massage therapists less tip. Maybe theres a reason why theyre not listed in the top 10 of Santa Fe.
I booked a 30 minute scalp and foot massage. When I arrived I decided I wanted the whole time to be spent on my feet. April was my masseuse and she did a wonderful job. So relaxing. The spa was very comforting and welcoming.
We love Downtown Day Spa! Our household has received massages from the kind and talented staff at Downtown Day Spa for the past 8 years. Christina is kind and gracious, and she is always willing to work with us on scheduling. Bruce is our favorite massage therapist, but all of Christinas therapists are skilled and friendly. Highly recommend!
Cannot recommend this place enough! Affordable services, and incredible staff.My mom, sister and I came to Santa fe for a weekend getaway and they were able to get us all in for massages and facials the very next day. The massage was perfect to soothe our pains and relax our bodies and the facial made my face look and feel so good that I bought all the products which smell incredible. And they carry some great local products as well! We will definitely be back many many more times
My mom had scheduled a massage for her birthday. She was super excited to go and in normal circumstances would have been there. My mom was in a terrible car accident the day of her massage, I notified the owner and she seemed accommodating and said whatever we needed. Then a week later I was handling finances for my mom while she was still in the hospital and noticed that not only had the owner of this spa still charged my mom but she charged her more than the amount I heard them agree on when scheduling the service. I followed up with her about getting it refunded and she said she would have to go back and find the receipt and give me a call to maybe give us a gift certificate. That was weeks ago. No word. I love supporting local small business but will never use or recommend this spa. Extremely disappointed in how they treat people. 👎🏼
The massage was great very relaxing I’ve been her many times and never had issues however now I feel like I’ve been cheated. I purchased a 60 min massage from Groupon. When I called to schedule I was told to return my Groupon and they would match my rate.? Which they did however my massage started at 2:00pm and felt short .. when I checked the Time it ended at 2:40?! Please explain. I tipped well as the masseuse gave a good massage but I was very dissatisfied with this experience and doubt I’ll be back . In fact I don’t think I’ll be recommending anymore business to this spa.
My massage was very good. I haven’t had enough facials to be able to rate one. However, I will never go back because the owner of this place is Sketchy AF! I wanted to pay before my services so I didn’t have to deal with a transaction after. She had me wait, and now I know why because she tried to slip in extra charges to my massage and gave me the hard sell on buying future services. I think she waits until your guard is down after your massage to try to scam more money. After reading other reviews, I am particularly sorry that I let her handle the tips for my services. Doubt the massage therapist and esthetician saw much if any of that money. I should have known something was up when I noticed all of the “Tips are appreciated” signs all over the place, which is just tacky. Avoid!
This is probably the first review I’ve written in years and years but I had to- I just finished a pumpkin spice facial with Gina and it was amazing ! The whole experience was relaxing and rejuvenating. She absolutely focused on me and in making me feel beautiful. She has a gift for healing and I left feeling 1000% better then when I arrived. The owner is truly someone who cares about her customers and her community. This was such a treat for me and I left feeling fresh faced and my heart full of love ! Thank you ! 💜
This place is terrible and I was treated very rudely by the woman at the desk. When I called to make an appointment I told her I had a Spa Finder gift card I wanted to use. That woman said she could not accept the card because I had to use it before my massage, not after it. She was a complete witch to me and treated me like dirt. I ended up having to give her all the cash on hand that I had. How dare that witch treat me or anybody like that. I would advise everybody to never go there. The massage place itself looks like a dump, too. The massage I received was not that great either. All she did was talk and I could not even relax. I get a massage frequently where I live and they always treat me with respect. If you are smart, do not go to this place.
I have had service here before and my experience was fine the last time I came in November I had purchased a Groupon for a couples massage, when we arrived everything was great our massages were great the only problem I had was with Christina she would not use my Groupon and charged me for the massage I have spoken to her several times since November to get a refund and she keeps blaming Groupon for not refunding my purchase. Shame on you Christine Groupon should have your business removed from their site. We will not return and will let others know not to do business with Christina.
I never write reviews but i have to tell everyone about this spa. I have had one couples massage with them before and had a good experience. My therapist was good. But i went today and i will never go back again. I purchased a groupon for a couples massage with hot stones. My therapists hands felt like sand paper and i could not relax at all. Me and friend never recieved the hot stones! So when we finished i went to the front desk to pay my tax and told her that we never recieved our hot stones. She was very rude and blamed me for not letting her know we purchased that. I gave her the voucher number over the phone a week in advance! Instead of giving me my money back she gave me a gift certificate but i am setting it on fire because i am never going back. After reading other reviews i checked how much the groupon was vs how much i ended up spending and it was way more than expected.. if i could give 0 stars i would! Do not recommend. I think they have a few really good therapists there that deserve better. The owner or whoever the lady was at the front desk was rude and greedy. So done
I have been to this place twice before and had good experiences but today was just not the day. My friend bought us a couples hot stone massage off of Groupon about a week ago. My massage was great but unfortunately my friends was not. She said her therapist had “sandpaper hands” and barely massaged her. She said she really couldn’t relax. And remember how i said she bought a couples HOT STONE massage? There were no hot stones.We went to the front desk to ask for a partial refund because we didn’t receive the service we paid for. The rude lady at the front desk, who is the owner, stated that we had not informed her that we purchased a Groupon with hot stones. I explained to her that we had given her the voucher number of the Groupon a week before when we made the appointment and that it is not stated ANYWHERE that we needed to tell her what kind of services we purchased. I also told her that I have never bought a Groupon in which I needed to specify what I was buying to the merchant.She rudely told us that we were the only people to ever look at the the Groupon and were the only people to know what was bought and because she had over 9 Groupons on the website, she shouldn’t be responsible for knowing what we purchased.She also told us she couldn’t refund us and the best she could do was give us a 50 dollar credit. A credit we will not be using because of this experience.
BEWARE.I visited here last week & was over charged for my services. The receptionist (and owner) told me (twice!) That it would $90 for the massage & facial plus a $25 upcharge for prenatal massage. When I left I realized she had charged my card $11.75 more than what it should have been. When I called she was very condescending & rude! She said you know you have to pay tax, honey. I said yes, I am aware & even after the sales tax I was charged $11.75 over. She tried to tell me the prenatal up charge was actually $35. I said no, you distinctly told me twice it was $25 & I signed a form saying that as well. She got really flustered, freaked out & tried to make it out to be my fault & hung up the phone. I honestly couldnt believe it. Then she calls back 15 minutes later to say she has refunded the money to my account. I say thank you. She refunded me $10, not the $11.75 that I was owed. I wish I had read the reviews before coming here because this seems like a common problem. The saddest part of it all, is my massage from Brenda was awesome & I was in the market for a new masseuse since moving to Santa Fe. Downtown day spa could have had a regular client but had to ruin it instead with greed.Ive never been treated so poorly by a business owner for mearly being a good patron in all my life....just do yourself a favor & do not go here!
The only good thing i have to say about this spa is that Starla gave a good facial. The rest was substandard! Full disclosure, I bought a Groupon and was supposed to receive a 1/2 hour facial, 1/2 hour pedicure, and a 1/2 hour massage. I upgraded to a full hour deep tissue massage. The pedicure was 15 minutes and not a complete pedicure, the massage was the worst massage Ive ever received. I dont usually leave reviews but this was so bad that I had let whomever is considering this business that you will be disappointed. On top of that they charged my credit card an additional $79.53 stating that is was the additional 1/2 hour massage and tax! The charges are being disputed and all I can do is warn any unsuspected person that you will be disappointed!! If I could give them zero stars I would.
I was very disappointed. We came to Santa Fe for our 10 year anniversary. I saw that they had a Groupon for a couples massage. I called ahead and was told that while they could not sou the same room, they had room for us separately. I was fine with that and made the appointment. I called a few hours ahead of time with a question and was told that it was good I had called someone had called in sick and they may need to reschedule us. I explained that we were in from out of town and leaving the next day. I was told that she, who I believe was the owner, would take care of it and call me if there was an issue. We arrived about 15 minutes before our appointment and the door was locked, but I could hear and see people inside. After several minutes they finally let us in. At this time I was told that they had to cancel our appointment - NEVER A CALL BACK. There were still people there and it was obvious our appointment was given away. I understand wanting to make money, but if you dont want to honor three pricing of a special or Groupon, dont do it. Their greed and not honoring their commitment put a damper on that portion of our anniversary.
Weve had several one hour long couples massages here. Every single therapist has been professional and done a wonderful job. They take the time to determine what treatment is best and where to focus. The building is cozy and quiet. The receptionist/owner is always sweet and hospitable. We are lucky because it is very close to our house so we can wobble home in a state of bliss. I definitely recommend getting a treatment here. If you are just visiting it is very close to the plaza and the rail yard. Having a massage or other treatment here would be a great break from shopping, eating, drinking, and seeing a movie nearby. If you are traveling with someone who doesnt enjoy massages (you should reconsider your travel partner ;) ) they could see a movie or have a drink at the nearby railyard. The staff is very accommodating and they have a large selection of massages and a diverse group of masseuses. You will not find a spa that beats the price/convenience of this place.
At one point this place was advertised as a Native American spa, Im not sure if they still consider themselves as that, but it would be nice to see some more of that influence.We enjoyed a couples hot stone massage, it was different from other hot stone massages Ive received in that, there wasnt much of the actual placement of stones to warm up the muscles. Mostly used as a tool to assist the therapist. I had some extreme muscle tension and I regret not paying extra for deep tissue work. You must tell them ahead of time. Leaving, I felt more tense than when I began, I couldve used 2 hrs with the therapist. She did do an excellent job, I just wanted more. There were times where I wanted less fluffy and more intense work, be sure to clarify with the therapist exactly what you like. We will return!
Do not patronize this business. The owner/front desk worker was rude from the get-go. Their prices on the internet do not reflect their inflated “COVID” pricing. She explained that they raised their prices and reduced their capacity to 50% for COVID precautions but appeared to be booked back-to-back regardless. $125 for a mediocre at best 50 minute massage was a complete rip-off. I mentioned that I had some neck issues to the masseuse, he hit the spot just long enough to identify the knot, and never came back.I usually don’t write reviews unless the service was exceptionally good or bad. Take my advice and steer clear.
Just had a comfort and joy hot stone massage with Noelle. It was one of the best massages I have ever had. The staff at Downtown Day Spa are welcoming and friendly. It is my second time there and both experiences have been amazing!
We booked a massage through Groupon. We scheduled the appointment through the owner/front desk. We showed up at the agreed upon time and no one was there. We arrived early and rang the doorbell and knocked multiple times and even waited 10 minutes past our appointment.I received a voicemail a few weeks later saying that they are going to charge my card since we were a no show. I left a voicemail back saying that we werent a no show and did indeed show up on the agreed upon time and date. A final call from the owner indicated that they were unaware someone was at the door. I heard the doorbell ring multiple times over the 20 minutes or so we tried to get someone to answer, so thats a lie. The parking lot was also empty. They apologized and asked when we would like to be rebooked, and I said we were going to pass. After that, I was almost immediately rudely hung up on.If I were you, I would steer very clear of this business. I regret giving them my credit card information.
Not just no, but HELL NO!I called Christine to make sure she had availability for the hot stone couples massage advertised on Groupon during my trip. Ive made the mistake before of rushing to buy a Groupon before, then finding out I cant use it during the time I need to.When I called, she asked if Id already purchased the Groupon and I told her no. She told me I could buy it directly from her at the same rate. I initially told her no because my information was already on file with Groupon. Then she said that she wouldnt have any more availability for Groupon reservations until the next week (which would be after I left).Since I know Groupon does a 50/50 split with the merchants, I decided to go ahead and book directly with Christine at Downtown Day Spa in Santa Fe on Agua Fria Street.Cutting to the appointment: We arrived at the appointment a few minutes early and they werent ready. We chatted for awhile with Christine, then she went to give instructions to Bethany and Nancy, our massage therapists. To me, this shouldve been done in advance or while we were getting undressed, not while we were sitting in the front area waiting to start.The prices clearly state there is an addition $10 charge per area for deep tissue. We declined the additional service, since we were getting hot stone massages. The massages were fine, not great but relaxing, though there could be more hot stone usage during a hot stone massage. Nothing against the girls.After the service, I went to give Christine the ladys tips (mistake in hindsight, I shouldve given it directly to them). She then told me I owed her an additional $28.08 for taxes. I told her shed already charged my card $169. I didnt even tell her that I noticed the Groupon rate for the same service went down to $156 from a supposed $350.She said that she told me taxes and tip werent included. I know thats not true because I wouldve never agreed to that. I wouldnt expect tip to be included because tips are supposed to be based on your service/experience. I have never had someone charge me extra on a Groupon or prepaid service for taxes.I asked her what the Santa Fe tax rate was and she said it was 8.3125%. I did the math on taxes for $169, which came out to $14.04. I asked her how she got to $28.08. She said she was supposed to add taxes on the original price, which still doesnt make sense because that would be $29.09.She asked if I wanted her to charge my credit card on file. I told her I didnt know she kept my credit card number on file and I didnt give her permission to do that. I gave her $40 cash and she didnt give me any change nor a receipt.Then this illicit, unscrupulous shyster charged my credit card $96.26 AFTER I left.Bethany and Nancy will have their reputation ruined by continuing to work for this woman.Christine comes off very nice but its all a part of the con.
I wish I could choose ZERO stars. I had an appointment on Saturday at noon. No one was there. I rang the doorbell, knocked, called and waited in the parking lot for 45 minutes. After I drove the nearly 2 hours home, I got a call from Christina the owner. She swore this had never happened before and that she would make it up to me. She said her receptionist had shingles and a spider bite and that the therapist that I was supposed to see could not get in the building. I was scheduled for both a massage and a facial so I guess that means no one has a key but the receptionist. Very SKETCHY. She said she would call on Sunday to get my address so she could send me gift certificates. Nothing on Sunday. I texted the number she called from today and have gotten no response. I have ABSOLUTELY NEVER been treated like this by a business that so clearly screwed up. I am making sure that anyone and EVERYONE I know is clear on the lack of professionalism and basic decency displayed by this business. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME.
Came to Santa Fe for a long weekend get away with my girlfriend and surprised her with a spa package here. It was a Groupon and they treated us very well nonetheless. The masseuses Rick & Terry were very good and hospitable. Starla was awesome for the facials. The ambience was nice and it was a great experience, would recommend.
I would not recommend this place to anyone. After having to cancel an appointment for a couples massage for circumstances that were out of our control. The lady at the front desk was very rude and unprofessional. Not the kind of business I want to support.
Communication is almost nonexistent with this company. I left 5 messages and never received a call back. When someone did answer they were rude and outright nasty when I told them I had purchased a voucher from Groupon. I canceled my voucher immediately. Anyone who has purchased a voucher and was unable to redeem, was not scheduled, or were treated poorly after they told them they had a voucher, should write to Groupon to have them removed from the app. The reviews on the app are misleading and we should try and prevent anyone else from going through this.

Ah. Maze. Ing! With an emphasis on Ahhhh. Visiting Santa Fe for a weekend getaway & found the spa on Goggle. Tammy is absolutely fabulous! Lovely little place. Had 60-minute CBD oil massage for $95. A little more than Im used to paying so it was a bit of a splurge but I would definitely go again. Some of the reviews take a shot at the owner. While she wasnt overly friendly I wasnt overcharged and I didnt feel she was condescending; shes from Connecticut. We New Englanders arent known from our warmth.

The massage is wonderful, but the woman (owner?) at the front is horrendous. She yelled out repeatedly when we arrived more money is here! Yay, more money just arrived, give me all your money! We purchased a groupon that included a couples massage and chocolates. We were forced to split one piece of chocolate and she continuously tried to aggressively sell us oils etc. We took our amazing massage and half a piece of chocolate and we will never return. The massage was completely negated after dealing with the stress of this money-grubbing, rude woman who didnt see people standing in front of her but More Money. We will never ever return. I actually just purchased another groupon for a couples massage, but when I saw the location - I immediately returned it for a massage ANYWHERE else.
I wouldnt recommend Downtown Spa to my worst enemy. The customer service is unprofessional, specifically Christina. They advertise through Groupon and take your money and dont schedule appointments. Very unprofessional, unethical, extremely rude and hypocritical.

My husband and I Have been coming here for over a year and each time we’ve had a wonderful experience, great communication easy to schedule and fair prices ! Christina the owner is always very kind today we had a pre wedding massage and they even got us cupcakes so happy to have found this place we always leave happy and relaxed
Wife and I enjoyed a couples massage. It was simply amazing. The environment is great and the massage therapist are really friendly and know what theyre doing. The establish is clean and smelled wonderful.
Just awful. Secretary is a rude, awful person that I hope to never see again. Extremely difficult to get a hold of, nearly impossible to get the appointment set up because you call them, they call you, you call them, they call you, etc... NOT worth the trouble AT ALL. Then they get your credit card number and charge you LOADS of little extras afterward which is illegal. I WILL be talking to BBB AND other places!
Fabulous massage! Christine will work hard to get you an appointment and easy walk ability from the plaza. Recommend this place and will go again next time we are visiting Santa Fe.

Scam...beware! The owner is despicable! If you want overpriced, unprofessional services then this is the place for you. Whatever you do, do not give them your credit card number, they will charge extra extraneous costs without your permission. Im shocked they are in business instead of jail!

I called and the lady who answered was short at first and when I told her I had a Groupon she was outright NASTY over the phone. This is no place for health and relaxation if this is how they answer the phone.
