Booked a last minute bff massage for me and my friend for mothers day. Phyllis the owner was amazing at squeezing us in at the very end of there day. Shes running an amazing business. My mom booked the salt cave and a bff massage for me as a birthday gift. The experience was great the owner and the masseuse Denise are great! Very friendly and lovely women. My massage from Denise was a 10/10 and I did recommend to a few of my college friends.My favorite thing about this place is it is the first/oldest black owned spa in Savannah. The owner also mentioned that her business is into ministry and they do plenty for the Savannah community. Don’t hesitate to book your experience you will definitely enjoy.
Very dirty room and the linens did not seem very clean either! My massage therapist was rude when I confronted her about the cleanliness issue! I do not recommend this place and will never go back!!
The girls and I celebrated my best friend birthday here! It was very relaxing and affordable! The spa is setup VERY nice and CLEAN! The owner was very professional and welcoming. The other staff were very professional and helpful too.

Ive been a customer for 9 years now. I started when my husband bought a package for my birthday, and have never stopped going. I love the environment and people. Phyllis always has a soothing environment, and I have enjoyed seeing changes and updates for the better over the years. The massages are wonderful and you cant beat the price either! The updates include a salt room now and I cant wait to try it! Love this place!

We had a wonderful experience here! The perfect way to close out a quick Mother & Daughter 3 day trip to Tybee Island. This Spa was one of the first Day Spas to open in Savannah and is family owned, so you will get that personal experience from making the initial appointment, through entering the facility and ultimately enjoying your treatments. Phyllis is so awesome and I love that this business gives back to the community! I had a relaxing 1 hour Sweedish Massage and my daughter had a Deep Pore Cleansing facial. We were both thoroughly satisfied. Dont let the outside facade fool you. The actual treatment rooms are as nice if not nicer than other high end spas Ive been to. Prices are reasonable too.
I had the pleasure of my very first spa experience here. Mrs. Phyllis is awesome. She made me feel so welcome and relax. The ambience and atmosphere was a plus. My services were perfected by her and I never felt do rejuvenated .This is truly her calling and Ministry. She also is very active in reaching out and giving back to the community.
I was referred to Beauty Essentials for massage therapy by the VA Out-patient Clinic. From my very first encounter with Ms. Phyllis I could tell that she was very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. Her establishment feels very welcoming and relaxing, and thats even before you reach the massage table. COVID protocols are strictly followed and good conversation is always your option.💯
I hate that I am just now getting around to writing this review. I had a massage about 3 weeks ago at Beauty Essentials and all I can say is WOW. Phyllis (the owner) was so sweet from the moment I called to schedule the appointment. I have had a lot of massages and this was by far the best one I have ever had. She used multiple hot towels and did many techniques that were similar to a medical massage. Will definitely be going back to see Phyllis!
Laxmi has been threading my eyebrows for about two years now and I wouldn’t dream of anyone else touching my eyebrows! She is gentle and takes her time to perfect my eyebrows each time! I constantly get complements on my eyebrows and would hands down recommend her for her services!!

In honor of Veterans Day, the Spa offered a free salt cave experience. It was my first time and I really enjoyed the atmosphere once I relaxed. I came out thoughtful and will try it again. I appreciate the spa for providing a quiet place to decompress. That is really important for veteran services.
My husband and I had the couples massage and jacuzzi package. The interior was not very nice looking and the jacuzzi was pretty small. We are not big people and we barely both fit in it.The massage was not as good as I had hoped. I never relaxed fully because the massage was just average.The staff was very nice until we paid. The lady was very unprofessional and tasteless telling us that we were to pay 18-25% gratuity. She didnt ask us if we would like to tip but insisted asked us what percentage gratuity do you want to leave, it needs to be between 18-25% she was one of the ladies who gave us a massage so it was awkward and rude to ask instead of letting us just tip accordingly. When we said that we would tip in cash she still insisted on having us tell her what percentage we were going to tip. Paying was just very awkward because while we were going to tip we both agreed that the service was not worth 18% of our total bill. Nothing about this spa was special or even nice. We will not go back and we would not recommend it at all. The prices are also WAY too high for what you get.
The salon does a good, solid job of waxing. It is clean, cute and cozy. The staff is nice, but should be more professional.The customer service and appointment procedures are poor. The website is incomplete and not user friendly. Calling, it is difficult to get an immediate appointment or call back; I was told by the owner that she does not check the emails, and rarely the voicemails. It felt rushed and last minute the last two times I visited.If Beauty Essentials had a full time receptionist and a specific appointment system that would be a great improvement.As it is, I would say my experiences there have been Pretty Good, but with so many spas in Savannah, a person can do better.
I had a great time at Beauty Essentials . Me and my wife went for her birth day weekend and had a great time . I felt very welcome and I loved the atmosphere. It was the start of a out standing week end , we enjoyed the jacuzzi tub and the fruit. The massage was great and we were both very relaxed , Michael you did a great job and Denise thanks for the hot towel ... ooohh whee . Loved it
I felt like I walked into a destination spa! Beautiful decor, friendly, immediate customer service. I was treated with hospitality and MVP service! I love it there I will be a repeat client for sure! You must experience the SALT CAVE! The only one in savannah!
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! I purchased the Rendezvous for two spa package from groupon. We arrived, and the manager was very unprofessional. She explained that I couldnt get in the hot tub because my bikini had strings, which was not explained to me prior to coming in. Also, the mimosas that you think you are getting, have no champagne in them so dont be fooled. The massage in itself was pretty good. But after that when we were supposed to be spending alone time, the manager kept interrupting and telling us how much time we had left. And then demanded AT LEAST an 18% tip of the original price of the couples package, which was insane!! So ridiculous!! The whole experience altogether was not very enjoyable, especially for the amount of money I spent. Not recommended AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!
I have never been one to leave a bad review for any business but here we are. I purchased a rendezvous for two spa package on Groupon in late March. We were unable.to get the appointment until today. We drove an hour and a half to our appointment. We were greeted warmly and made to feel at home by Ms. Phyllis. We were given a quick tour of the facility where most of the rooms were closed due to repairs or renovations and shown to our massage suite. It was warm, darkened, and comfortable. I was given a massage by Zarius and thoroughly enjoyed said massage. He was gentle and attentive and made sure I was comfortable at all times. My husband was offered a deep tissue or swedish massage by Phyllis before we began and he said that he enjoyed his massage as well. We were then shown to a room off the massage suite for our soak. The mimosas and strawberries were a nice treat given to us during our soak in the tub as was the chilled spring water. We werent given aromatherapy or anything scented and the Jets in the tub werent working in the tub which was a little disappointing. As an aside, Im plus size and did not fit into the offered robe but they were thick and smelled amazing. After our treatment we were told that we needed to pay taxes on the services full price not the Groupon price (it was 15.00 not a big deal), 20.00 for the upgrade (the deep tissue massage that was OFFERED to my husband without upgrade or pricing ever mentioned) and a 15 to 20% gratuity on the full priced package. We ended up paying an additional 84.00 for a 129.00 package before we could leave. For over 200.00 for an hour and a half package, a 3 hour roundtrip drive, and a salon that needs some serious TLC, We couldve stayed in Brunswick. Great massages but thats really all I can say about this place.
VERY unpleasant experience. My boyfriend and I thought that we had found a good deal with Groupon, but I wish we had done some research before purchasing the package. I highly doubt that my massage therapist had any professional training. What was supposed to be a special retreat with a couples massage and hot tub soak for our anniversary turned into an expensive body oil application and a tight squeeze into a bathroom tub intended for one. The facility was not clean AND the staff was a nightmare. We arrived on time for our scheduled appointment only to have the owner complain about how early she had to come in...for our SCHEDULED appointment. Then during what was supposed to be a Swedish relaxation massage, I asked my therapist to focus more on my shoulders. I told him I didnt mind a little more pressure. (It felt like he was just rubbing oil around on my skin, no more. I am familiar with massage therapy, and I could tell he didnt know what he was doing.) After requesting more pressure, the owner interrupted both of our services to argue with me over price. She insisted that if he used more pressure, she would charge an extra $50 for a deep tissue massage. OUTRAGEOUS! I let it go.. And then on to the hot tub. I wore a bathing suit without strings, as requested several times from the owner because the strings could get caught in the jets. My suit only has a clasp. But she insisted that she SEE me in my suit before I could use the hot tub (that was just a bathtub surrounded by plywood fashioned to hold it into a closet.) And then the tip...We had to hear from the owner about how much money she WONT be making because of the cut to Groupon. We were required to tip THEIR predetermined percentage on the total full value of the package. Take it from us, youre not missing anything if you just look elsewhere for a relaxing experience.
My only experience with Beauty Essentials Day Spa sucked. I had an appointment with them. When I arrived there, the door was locked. I waited for 45 minutes in the heat, and she never showed up. I have to put a star, but they dont deserve it.
I recently started a body cavitation treatment with Josie. I was not sure what to expect because honestly knew nothing about the treatment but Josie sat down with me and explained the whole process so I gave it a shot.Man was I surprised after just my 5th treatment I noticed a truly significant improvement in my appearance. I lost almost 2 inches off of my waistline and all my clothes started to fit much looser. This procedure is pain free and easy. Just follow the instructions that you are given and you WILL see a differance. If your looking to rid yourself of some of the spare tire look then I recommend that you go see Josie and sign up for your first session.
Mrs. Phyllis absolutely made our day! She is a beautiful person inside and out and made us feel completely at home and relaxed. Her spa was a complete day of bliss from the relaxing massage to a perfect lunch and ending with a wonderful facial. Thank you so much for our amazing mother daughter day!
After reading some of the reviews for this place, I was very worried about coming here. But I thought to give it a chance myself! I am the maid of honor for my friends wedding and I brought her here to enjoy a massage! We went July 18th, 2015. We got the BFF Package and we LOVED it!! As soon as we walked in the door, everyone was so nice and welcoming! Especially the owner!! She offered us water while we filled out the very short form. As soon as we were done filling that, they brought us to our room which was a relaxing setting!! Soon enough, our massages began! Ive never had a massage before but I loved it and was so relaxed! Afterwards, they brought us robes and slippers and sat us on a couch. Then they brought the chocolate covered strawberries and virgin mimosas... DELICIOUS!! Before we left, the owner gave us big hugs and told us to come back anytime! Yes, they do ask for an 18% and up tip but it was worth it to us! The overall experience was amazing and we enjoyed it so much! The only thing I did not like was that my massage table wobbled! Everything else was awesome! I will be going back again!
I got a LivingSocial coupon for a couples massage for this place for 105$. 2 one hour massages, jacuzzi soak, mimosas, and chocolate covered strawberries. Id say worth the money. The massages were awesome, probably one of the best full body massages I have ever had. I was worried after reading all these negative reviews about the place. But all the staff was very friendly and professional. Again, the Massage was really good and I was very relaxed after. I will say that with the coupon, it doesnt include tax or gratuity. Just be prepared that this will cost about 50$ at the time of visit. Im guessing the gratuity is added on what the original, not discounted price was (about 230$), so that makes sense, plus about 10$ tax. I understand the charge and why it was so much for tax and grat, I just think the coupon should be more clear about how much its going to be, because not knowing your spending another 50$ could upset a lot of people. But overall, I would give my experience a very good rating, and I would get another massage in the future because it was excellent!
I bought a Groupon in June for my husband to use before our baby was born (due November 1). The first week of October he called to make an appointment and it took 1.5 weeks in order for them to even confirm an appointment day/time. Well, I went into labor 3 weeks early and we had our baby the day before his appointment. With all that was going on, he of course was not able to make the appointment and Beauty Essentials has refused to reschedule the appointment or at least let us use the $45.00 I paid for another service. I understand Groupon has a 48 hour cancellation policy - however, I think with extenuating circumstances Beauty Essentials could at least be a little more helpful. Im extremely disappointed that this happened.
I was so rudely treated when trying to schedule an appointment that I decided not to go through with it. I purchased a couples spa package through Groupon but was told by the spa associate that I could not schedule a slot because it was a Groupon promotion. She could, however, offer me a different promotion for more money.....although the more expensive promotion included exactly the same things as the one Id purchased through Groupon. When I asked the woman how I could get a refund she said she didnt know and hung up on me.
This company is a hack and unprofessional! They count on you to book your appt. and take your money. I had a couples massage given to me for my birthday and when I called to reschedule due to a family emergency the lady I spoke with was rude, unprofessional, and sounded delighted to take my money because I could not show up. After talking with her I would not want her or anyone like her touching me anyway. I would not give my money to this business or anyone affiliated with it.
Very great experience @Beauty Essentials. The owner Mrs Phyllis (hope I spelled her name correctly) was so nice. One of our best anniversary experience (married 16yrs).We will be back to do it again.
Went once. That was enough. Came out more stressed than when I went in. Massage was mediocre at best and the employee kept talking the whole time about a slew of things I had definitely had no interest in hearing about. I wanted and needed relaxation, quiet time and pampering. Thats not what I received. This was several years ago and the experience has left a bad taste in my mouth ever since.
This is the WORST SPA EVER!!!! Do not use this spa!!! I went with two of my friends, we all got the Groupon, first off we all wanted to go at the same time and the owner said to do that we would have to pay $30.00 more than what the Groupon price was, are you serious, what EVER, not going to argue with her. (we had already purchase the Groupon) So we get there and the owner is just plain rude, to put it nicely, we are given the crappiest massage, rotten Strawberries and what was the grossest Mimosa I have ever tasted. When we were getting ready to leave the owner demanded an 18% to 25% tip, and not on the price that we had made for the Groupon, but 18% to 25% on what the original price would have been!!!!! This Lady is Crazy!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SPA TO ANYONE!!! Although, I do recommend He said... She said... on Chatham Parkway. I went there last Summer and LOVE IT :-))
BEST MASSAGE EVER!!!! Whoever complained about this place would have to be the type of person you couldnt satisfy even if you gave them ice water in a furnace!!....Due to the demands on my time Im not one to normally pen reviews but this was a must do!!! In travel capacity Im the one thats always looking for a nice place to dine, shop, site see and pamper myself which resulted in many opportunities to have great spa treatments in different states/cities. Choosing to take advantage of a groupon deal for myself and a friend I opted as a skeptic to take a chance on this place called beauty essentials.......... Its been said that A man can travel the world in search of happiness only to return home to find it! Thats how I felt when I discovered beauty essentials. OMG! It was truly the best experience out of all the wonderful (much more expensive) spas Ive frequented. You wouldnt believe the extra efforts Ms Phyliss and her staff put forth to accommodate us as we were 45 minutes late, (which can easily be extracted from the time you paid for). Instead she gave us a tour of her beautiful place which has such a relaxing ambiance. THE PRICE: Ive paid twice the amount for HALF the services I recieved at other places which made me feel as if my tip wasnt enough upon my exit. THE MASSAGE: Never did I expect such personal attention, professionalism and relaxation from this diamond in the rough! At one point I said to myself:Tthis cant be the FULL BODY massage option because she spent so much time addresing every detailed part of my back, arms, hands,head and neck but once again I was wrong. It was truly THE BEST FULL BODY MASSAGE IVE EVER HAD!! I would thus encourage all not to waste another penny on other spas based on location or name. Give Ms. phylis and her staff a try and become just as angry as I was for taking so long to truly be pampered in the way in which I deserve.......Cant wait to return!!!!
Was gifted a couples massage, Jacuzzi love cave experience with mimosas and chocolate covered strawberries. First, I had to wait 6 weeks for an appointment so my expectations were high. Surely with a wait that long, the masseuse must be skilled, right? WRONG! We arrived exactly 9 minutes late due to a wreck on the interstate that couldnt be avoided. They informed us upon arrival that our massage would be cut short 25 minutes! 😨 I asked if they could just skip the Jacuzzi part so that we could get the full hour for the massage. The answer was a firm no, they dont operate like that. I was disappointed but agreeable. We got our massages, which were mediocre, at best. I usually get so relaxed I drool while on the table. This masseuse wasnt even in that league. I was thinking to myself I couldnt believe I waited 6 weeks for this. Also, there is a sign on the door that said walk ins are welcome! This was my husbands first massage ever and he said it was nothing like what he was expecting and a huge let down. 😑After our massages, they brought us robes. We were in the process of getting our stuff together to go to the Jacuzzi and the owner came bursting in, being very loud and obnoxious and very much in our way as we were moving around in a very cramped space. At one point, she even bumped into me so hard I dropped everything in my hands. By the time we got to the Jacuzzi, we were frustrated to say the least. Turns out their jacuzzi, is nothing more than a bath tub with jets in it. We had to sit on top of each other to fit! PLUS, the water was cool, not even lukewarm!! 😨 We should have just left but we were really trying to enjoy our day.... Sigh. 😩The final nail in the coffin for this place is when we were leaving from our gift the owner refused our $50 tip. She informed us that was not enough! She said the very least she would accept is $80, but if we were decent people, we would leave over $100!! 😨 😨 😨 I thought we were being very generous by leaving $50 considering the service we had received. I told her those very words and she became irate and used curse words and gestures which were threatening. While she ranted about undeserving white people I pulled my husband out the door and we left. She then proceeded to call my phone and leave harassing messages on my voice mail. I have NEVER in my life experienced such horrendous customer service, especially coming from the owner! I dont usually write reviews but people need to know about this place. If my review saves one person from going through what we did it will be worth it.
Was not impressed at all. We did the bff package. For 150 bucks. Was told she would throw in hot stones for us.. Was a joke. Mimosas were nasty and non alcoholic. the tables shook while getting a massage, the man that did my friend had terrible foot odor stinking up the room. The lady doing mine was very nice however her stomach rumbled of hunger the entire time. We wont go back. Even of if were free. Go elsewhere!
Extremely rude when I called to schedule an appointment... Told me to refund my money through Groupon and then call back when I decide to give them all the money. Last I checked, you had an agreement with a company such as Groupon.. They dont imagine the location&massage packages. Definitely wont be calling back after that phone call.
Ive gone here every time Ive gotten a massage and the massage has been so relaxing. I cant even begin to explain the feeling once I got up off the table. The staff is very friendly. I would recommend this place for a nice relaxing massage.
Me and my girlfriends went here a few years ago and had an awesome experience. So when we decided to go back to savannah for a bachelorette weekend we went online to look at the packages. We saw the groupon available for a hour massage and all the bridesmaids purchased the groupon. I called the spa to schedule us for that weekend after carefully checking the restrictions on the groupon to make sure it did not exclude parties and weekends before everyone bought the groupon. I left 2 messages and called about 5 other times before someone answered. She told me the owner would need to speak me. Phyllis the owner calls me back and tells me she is NOT going to honor the groupon because they can refuse whoever they want. I told her we all lived hours away but that did not seem to matter. I see other people complaining of the same thing on here and I saw several negative reviews on yelp for the same thing. Needless to say we found another spa in savannah and I will never suggest this spa to anyone ever again it was the worst customer service I have ever dealt with . I hope the business realizes groupons are to bring positive attention to your business but they are doing the exact opposite. I will also be contacting the state boards in Georgia and the better business burea
I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. What should have been a relaxing experience for my mother (she just turned 54) turned to a sour experience. While on the way to this establishment I got lost I tried calling to get help with reaching there but no one answered. My GPS wasnt working, I kept losing signal so we unfortunately arrived late. When we got there Jade informed us that my mom could only utilize the remaining 30 mins. I explained our dilemma and how I tried to call. I accepted responsibility and I asked if there was any thing she could do. She informed me that we could reschedule my mother to next Tuesday because they are usually slow on this day. She didnt have the scheduling book because the owner was not around and that she would call us the following day to confirm a mutual time. She NEVER called me back to schedule this. My card was charged and when I tried to come to a compromise with the owner Phyllis she told me to take it up with my bank. This is after I called them NUMEROUS times trying to get in touch with someone.She was extremely RUDE and had an ATTITUDE. This was a HORRIBLE customer service experience. Do yourself a favor and deal with a professional Salon that cares about the clients. Hopefully one that answers the phone as well.
Horrible customer service. I purchased Living Social deals for myself and my three employees, and called to make the appointment. When I called, the receptionist said they would not be able to do both the massages and facials on the same day (there were 4 of each), so I asked her to give me a date when they would be able to do both. She got my number and said she would call me back (it was Thursday). On Monday I called back since they still had not called me. I told the lady (I think it was the owner) who answered the phone I had tried to make an appointment and someone was supposed to call me back. She just said they must have gotten busy--no apology from her. I asked her to look at one date, and she said she could do everything, but they would be about an hour and a half apart. I asked what other dates she had, and she seemed to get irritated that I didnt want two people to have to wait for over an hour. After she found another date, I asked her to hold for a moment so I could ask the others to check their schedules since we had not expected the appointment to be that far out. Again, she seemed irritated. She then asked me for my Voucher numbers, and she got irritated because I asked why she needed them since typically you do not give anyone the voucher number until you actually receive the service. She said she needed to make sure I had actually purchased the deal. Now why would I call to make an appointment if I had not purchased the deal? That did not make sense at all. Then she asked for the second voucher number. Since I had a baby in one arm and my phone in the other, it was a little inconvenient to get the other number, but I did it. Then she asked for the first number again. I told her it was the exact same number except the last three digits were 178. She would not accept that as an answer and insisted that I pull it up again. Not sure what her problem was. If they cannot handle extra business from doing living social deals and groupons, then maybe they shoudnt do them. I get tons of massages and spas, and I always make appointments first. I have never been treated this poorly.

Committed insurance fraud! Charged the VA for a massage therapy appointment that didn’t happen. I lost one of my 12 appointments that I needed for my back. I would avoid this business, unprofessional and literally committing fraud.

Sooo I was interested in visiting and using a Groupon. I called to check the process for redeeming the Groupon and it was completely foolish what I was told. It was communicated that I would have to pay taxes on my visit based off of the value of groupon. The Groupon was $45 and the value was $90. Then the lady told me I would have to buy the Groupon over the phone from her instead of online for scheduling & availability purposes. Not to mention she told me I need to include gratuity for my service also. I dont mind paying gratuity but dont tell me I need to add it in. I have never had to pay for taxes or any other fees after purchasing a Groupon. Luckily for me I didnt buy from this place....

Ive been here serval times and Im always pleased with my visit. Ive had a full body scrub; which I was nervous at first, but theyll make you so comfortable and youll leave with soft and smooth skin. 😉
I walked in without an appointment and my eyebrows were done really quickly and so good. I’ve had trouble finding a good brow threading place in the area and she did them perfectly and good price.
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Phyllis....we lived in Savannah for 3 years and while living there, I was at her shop at LEAST 2x a week for a massage....& she ALWAYS did an AMAZING JOB.....I NEVER felt rushed....EVER.....she ALWAYS gave me PLENTY of TIME after the massage to relax....She has NEVER ever FORCED an 18% tip....she might have maybe suggested it but Im sures shes HAPPY W ANYTHING.....& honestly, if you absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the massage as much as I do, whats wrong w paying the 18% tip?!?!?😍😍😍😍😍And Ive NEVER EVER had a problem with the receptionist being rude to me...ever. ✌️✌✌✌It makes me sad to see people who have no manners & no respect and who have no problem trying to tear people down and try to ruin their business....😭😭😭Phyllis works HARD to run a BEAUTIFUL, customer APPROVED business and shes doing a FABULOUS JOB....& I couldnt be anymore BLESSED to have HER as my massage therapist.....🙏🙏🙏🙏Im moving back to the area and while Im here house hunting, Im getting a massage from her before I head back North and when we get back in Dec, Ill be BACK to seeing her weekly.....👍👍👍👍LOOOOVE YOU PHYLLIS! 😘😘😘😘and youre doing a GREAT GREAT JOB running your business-KEEP IT UP!!!!
The owner Mrs.Phyllis is professional. The atmosphere was welcoming and pleasant. Very clean. I had a great experience. Not overpriced and definitely worth every penny plus.

This place in my opinion is very unprofessional, I have purchased the couples package and have been calling for several days to schedule an appointment. I have left several messages, I even emailed and I have yet to get a response. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone....
