After coming here regularly for about a year, I got the opportunity to work as a spa attendant and not only has my experience working here been some of the best, the owner, John, has gone above and beyond to give me time off for knee surgery, and to accommodate me doing light duty until I was ready to go back into the full flow of things. And not even a month later he allows me to take two months off for another job opportunity. I came back a few weeks ago and I was welcomed back with open arms.I genuinely enjoy coming in on my days off to use the deck, knowing how much work is put into keeping it clean and safe. Of course nothing on earth is perfect, but this place is pretty close.
My partner and I really like the concept behind this (C/O mixed gender spa), but it still has a bit to go before getting a fifth star. The facilities are clean and well maintained, but a bit cramped (the single sauna is just too small to accommodate everyone at times). It would be nice if there were a sauna clock or sand timers in the sauna too (typical in European saunas for safety concerns). Also, there can be a lack of available seating outside... especially if you want a sunbed. With regards to etiquette, they give you a thin wrap and a single towel for your visit. We chose not to cover up with either during our visit, since it seems silly. However, it would be nice if they had a rule mandating shower shoes/slides when using the facility. Also, though people did sit/lie on their towels, there were lots of bare skin on the sauna benches and sun beds; my wife laid down to work on her tan, only to complain that the cushion smelled like feet. Another problem was that people frequently entered the sauna only minutes after someone else had; this lowers the temperature and is poor sauna etiquette. As far as atmosphere is concerned, it was 80% single males...which seems to be the norm when it comes to social nudity in the U.S. Not to say that single males are a problem per se, but rather the ratio certainly could make females uncomfortable and is certainly not Sacred Rains fault. All this said, will be returning!
This is one the best places in Seattle! The staff are incredible and helpful, the body workers all bring their unique magic, and the management is always working to make sure people feel safe and supported. I started coming here shortly after losing my father and it’s been so healing for my grief process
Visited today between 1130-1400 with my daughter. We had a stellar experience enjoying the deck, spa, and sauna. All facilities are very well kept and immaculately clean. The showers had dispensers with soap, shampoo and conditioner. Blow dryer available. Keyless lockers for your belongings. We were given a towel and cotton sarong to use. Next time Ill bring an extra towel from home. There were a couple water coolers and a hot tea station at the entrance with Stash teabags. If you want to relax, this is the place.
Well.... since you asked I will gladly expand on the 1 star rating. You have a policy of canceling straight men for doing absolutely nothing wrong! So I would happily worn ALL straight men to avoid going here! Please may this be your warning! You canceled my partner of 24 years because of a lie from an angry man-hating Karen! You even told him that you believed he did nothing wrong but canceled him anyways?! If this is a tolerant healing center than siding with an older lady that vocally talks about hating men in the steam room over someone that was simply being nice and taken the wrong way. The lady that was the original issue obviously has emotional and mental health problems with men. All he did wrong was give her trip advice for her and her girlfriend to do on an island that we know a lot about and love! After that the moment she lost it was at the group meditation where the meditation guide had the group hold hands and it happened to be a...... wait for it....... man (my partner) next to her. That catalyst that she lost it and started false rumors (aka lies) about him was on you guys. Anyone would have clearly seen that he had nothing to do with her or Karens problems. You saw it clearly too, but you canceled him anyways! A happy customer that spent thousands of dollars to you, came there for 2 1/2 years, never did anything wrong, no complaints and promoted your business! I waited to say anything hoping you would make it right, its been 4 months and there were nothing but crickets! What kind of healing center is this that allows angry women to openly talk about hating half the population in a sacred healing center and then cancel that which they hate because you care more about you money than a loyal customer! Only 1 lady stopped showing up months prior to you cancelingmy boyfriend, the meditation lady that has major mental issues, no others stopped coming to your location. Man-hating Karen started spreading the rumors but still continued to show up. The other 2 clucking hens paddle board with the liar and are victims to (not my boyfriend, but the mental patient that cant be in a room with men, and gets off on being a victim).Again..... never doing anything wrong except for being a male at you facility. That is exactly why you are a 1 star business! You could have made this right. Everyone else that was a regular knew he was innocent. A few even cried that you kicked him out as he was a friend to many. He has NEVER disrespected women, and has often stood up for them above and beyond!Good luck to you and all those contemplating going to this business who are men!
I used to love this place and encouraged friends and visitors to go. Unfortunately the last time I came, the receptionist was terribly rude to us. Additionally, the sauna had an off smell this occasion. Sadly, I wont be coming here anymore. The sauna could have been a one off, but particularly put off by the bad vibes in reception; for a place that used to be a healing center to me it really felt off.EDIT: the manager sent us a heartfelt email after this review and offered a refund. was appreciated and feeling more positivity. will likely return :) adjusting my review from 1 to 4 stars.
This is co-ed but just to say it was all male patrons when I went. Being the only woman was uncomfortable so I left after the hour. The sauna is small. Glad guys have a place to unwind - we all need it! I might just stick to the Ladies Room up in Greenwood.
Never actually been inside but I did nap in my Jetta right in front of it. I also reversed and didnt see a classic Porsche. CRASH!!! Oops, my bad. I would have left my info but I didnt got insurance.
This place offers the dream patio, a patio Id like to recreate for my own home: outdoor hot tub and sauna, many potted plants including trees, plenty of places to sit and cool off or just chill when the weather is fine. Inside, there are cozy places to relax after the sauna and drink tea especially the giant bean bags that defy you to sit for just a moment before heading out. You didnt know youd be taking a nap when you plopped down but 40 minutes later... lol! It attracts a chatty crowd. I could do with it being a bit quieter but my partner and I go here together and nobody shushes us when were chatting quietly with each other. I would like to add that the environment feels respectful and people behave with consideration of others (aside from noise levels in the evening but thats a time of day thing). Spa employees are constantly cleaning and tending all the areas. I feel completely safe here. At $45/ visit, you dont have access to the wide variety of pools and hot rooms that Olympus Spa has for the same price, but its not gender-restricted like Olympus. You get way more at Sacred Rain than Sauna Hut which is overpriced considering the lack of hot pools or even showers. I havent had any of the services here so I cant speak to those. I love this place! I think its great!
Very nice facility with Spa. Clothing is optional means Co-Ed without clothes. Kind of made me a little uncomfortable (not much I could get use it to it) but if that’s what you like it’s a good fit. My only thing is that I wanted some peace and quiet and the hot tub had a women in it that simply would not shut up and a guy showing himself off talking with her. So it ruined the experience for me.
Amazing place! Co-Ed and clothing optional which I adjusted to faster/more easily than anticipated. Quiet is encourage but soft conversations in sauna and spa etc is fine. Gets very busy on Fri/Sat/Sun afternoons so plan accordingly. 10-use punch card is a great deal.
Always love this place. Great for relaxing and winding down after a long day or a long week. The hydrotherapy tub is great! I wish they had a cold plunge tub instead of the showers or cup, but thats my only complaint. The sauna usually get packed, but when you have a few people, its really nice. I recommend coming before high peek times, which ar typically after work hours.
My oasis in the heart of the city. A great place to get your clothes off, unwind and either soak in the jetted jacuzzi, sweat it out in the sauna, or lay out on one of the many deck chairs, taking in the rays. Even on cold rainy/snowy days, being able to sit in some heat is a pure joy. The staff and other members who attend regularly are all incredibly open and kind, creating a warm, welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. I hope to visit this place for many years to come.
This has to be one of the best saunas and spa that I’ve been. I was not expecting it to have all the services they have and in the open. I highly recommend this amazing sanctuary to come and get some sun rays in the open while relaxing in the jacuzzi or sauna! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I started coming here to use their sauna because I injured myself running and wanted a way to sweat and gain some of the relaxation induced by excercise without moving my legs. The sauna seemed to accelerate my healing process. I’m fully recovered now, but Sacred Rain remains part of my routine several days a week. The sauna and soaking pool are always hot and clean. The whole place is generally nice to be in and well cared for by the friendly and helpful folks that work there. The other regular guests and members I’ve chatted with have been great as well. Sacred Rain is an oasis, and a healthy escape from modern life. I haven’t tried any of their massages or other wellness treatments, but plan to in the near future.Do yourself a favor and try this place out. You’ll probably drop in for a single session and find yourself contemplating a monthly membership during your post-sauna cold shower.
Such a nice place. So diverse and body positive. Clothing optional. Everyone was polite respectful and kind. The deck was beautiful, the facilities were immaculately cleaned. The deep tissue massage was excellent. A little expensive but worth it.
Wonderful experience! I had a 75 min deep tissue / acupuncture appointment a few days ago & couldn’t be happier. I was a little sore yesterday, which my practitioner warned me of ahead of time, but today I feel amazing. Nearly pain-free! I got there early & was given a brief tour of the facility & was very impressed. Super clean, very inclusive of everybody, & lots of amenities. Can’t wait to come back!
I love Sacred Rain so much! I have come many times to get massages from Renata and she is a talented, friendly, and thoughtful masseuse. She always asks about any problem areas and gives very individualized treatment. The facilities are clean, calming, and gorgeous, and the deck is truly a little oasis. Highly recommend!
As the sun was setting and the first planets and stars were showing I was laying cooling off from the sauna staring at the sky. Super nice and relaxing to have a moment to appreciate nature, how lucky I found myself here.Nice spa option with some unique features (the outdoor patio). Its a new place and the did a nice job so the locker room is really nice and since its brand new everything is super clean. Its easy to get to, plenty of parking about. They give you a towel and a sarong upon entry. Its a mixed gender environment. Theres a cedar sauna outside on the large open air deck. At first I wasnt so sure about the outdoor business but its fantastic. Looking forward to winter! Its going to be awesome get hot in the sauna and stargaze to cool off. Also you can sunbath in the summer. Didnt get a massage but look forward to getting one here.Another somewhat unique thing they allow you to keep use of your phone. Generally I like the sauna cause you cant have your phone but it would be nice to lounge and still have access to email. Also they allow you to put water on the rocks in the sauna, a rarity.
What an amazing place! Peaceful, quiet, relaxing.....such a cool vibe. I received a massage from Sterling and it was incredible. He was very attentive to my problem areas, explained everything thoroughly, gave me solid recommendations to help me reduce my tension, and was just really cool to talk to. Michelle was awesome as well.....super chill and easy to talk to and so nice....clearly a very kind soul. The entire facility was absolutely spotless. They didn’t miss a single detail. The sauna and hot tub were perfect and the patio area was amazing. I left renewed and can’t wait to return! Thank you SO MUCH!
Amazing spa day from beginning to end. The staff was friendly and helpful. Massages, sauna, hot tub, a hidden gem of a spot.Edit: my original review was two years ago. I have come back annually and am currently pregnant and just got done with a 75 min massage. They did amazing at accomodating for my pregnancy and a recent injury. They are amazing. Ive come a total of three times and Ive never had the same masseuse but the quality is ALWAYS amazing. They are truly gifted. I edited my original review from four to five stars for the consistent and quality Ive experienced here.
Booked the solo deck experience with my sister due to COVID. Was a really lovely experience. This place has a lot to offer and the service was fantastic. If youre worried about getting sick, you should know that we only interacted and spoke with one person at reception and the rest we were completely on our own. Mask rules are enforced and it felt really felt safe. If youre healthy and well, go here! Support them so they can stay open! We had a really wonderful 90 minutes of relaxation. Everyone can use this right now.
We need more places like this! The staff is amazing. Really kind and empathic! The atmosphere is very calm and healing. The sauna and hot tub are so relaxing and always at the right temperature.
Sacred Rain is one of the cleanest and most thoughtfully designed spas I have ever experienced. John and his crew are so pleasant and helpful and they each take such pride in keeping everything perfect. I feel in quiet awe every time I go. And, in my experience the people that come to the spa are incredibly warm and respectful. Im just so glad I found the place.
This was a life changing experience for me. I spent two hours using the pools, sauna, chill area before a 90 min massage with John. I don’t want to even call this a massage because it was so beyond that. It was one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had and deeply healing. Thank you so much to everyone there, I will telling all my friends and definitely coming back.
I finally visited this on a Sunday. Everything is new and very very clean. Showers are private with shower curtains. Not crowded at all! Especially liked the hot tub! Others seamed to favor the sauna. According to Dr. Ronda Patrick (YouTube), doing a sauna is nearly equivalent to working out to retain mussel mass. Nice bunch of young men. Had a great conversation with one young gentleman. I think it would be a bit more fun with a few more women around though. Suggest they give maybe 20 women a free 1 month membership to try it out. Im sure after a month theyd figure out they arent going to get hit on or creeped on at a public spa. After a month, charge them equally. Hopefully they wouldnt mind preferential treatment for a month; but then even Einstein couldnt figure them out, what chance do I have? Still, very good place to chill out and recharge. Forgot to ask if they have Yoga.
HEAVEN ON EARTH. I had an amazing massage with John, and my friend had a terrific massage with Ticia. I TRIED to stay awake, but I was too blissfully relaxed. I loved the entire experience. Bring sandals. Thats all you need. I cant even tell you how relaxed I am right now. The jacuzzi pool, the sauna, the cold outdoor showers, the warm indoor showers, the cute relaxation room... They were all great. People were friendly, not just paid staff! When I visit Seattle, I will return!
Came for a massage and the session was nice but I was shorted at least 12-15min which is a bummer. We started late even though I arrived early. The therapist was accommodating and helpful. Just unfortunate the time on the table wasn’t the full 60min. Maybe next time.
We had an awesome first time here! The staff are so nice and the facility exceeded expectations, will certainly be back and recommend to others looking for a relaxing spa day :)It is a clothing optional spa so don’t be surprised to see people in their birthday suits lol
I feel like Sacred Rain is my healing home. As the yin yoga teacher, I currently have the amazing opportunity to meet the lovely members and rest of the SR community weekly. I supply blocks and straps, and try to design my classes with a restorative vibe. The floor work depends on the season and the accompanying meridian line. New-comers can enjoy a more holistic sequence as well. Although my class is changing from Thursday nights to Sundays in April, yogis can still visit and get their zen on late night enjoying a sauna and pool beforehand! Tell your friends!
I went for my birthday and have never been to spa before so didnt know what to expect. I booked a massage with Brittany who was really awesome and it felt amazing. Afterward, I hung out in the hot tub and lounged around in the sun. It was really relaxing and a great way to spend a birthday.
No words to describe everything properly.Ive been to see William and John for massage work, Enjoyed the sauna and soaking tub for hours, meditated in the quiet room or deck and generally have been able to center myself in this space. For me, this is a conflux of all the right things. Welcoming, tranquil, clean... All details and spaces feel like a labor of love. They have also attracted a positive, easy going crowd and atmosphere with no judgement or pressure.Ive liked it so much I progressed quickly from a day trip to a 10 visit punch card. Shortly after that was filled, I became a member.I gleefully drive from Kent to take advantage of this.
This all-gender clothing optional spa is a gem hidden away in Ballard. I highly reccomend if youre transgender or non-binary.Its an amazing healing experience that I cannot reccomend enough. The spa portion of Sacred Rain features multiple luxurious showers and locker rooms. The big feature is a large outdoor patio for sunbathing equipped with a cedar spa (185 degrees), and a hot spacious hot tub pool.
I go to spas across the country regularly; this was one of the best! Great serene atmosphere, clean, wonderful service. John gave me a great massage! Javen was very accommodating to our last minute appointment and gave us a great suggestion of where to have dinner. I would definitely recommend this place and I will come again.
Absolutely amazing business that has kept me + my partner sane this winter, during COVID. The hot tub is amazingly therapeutic (sauna too) and the staff is so friendly. Many thanks to Javen for providing great service every time 🙂
Since becoming a member 6 months ago, Sacred Rain has provided me a sanctuary for healing, an intentional community to connect with, a place to sweat my worries away, with delicious massage to ease any tension accumulated in my physical body. I walk in needing a reset, and walk away feeling like new person that is more in tune with who I am and how I fit into the world. There are no words to express how eternally grateful I am to John, Karen and SR crew for creating such a sacred place to call my second home. I feel so lucky to be a part of this community!
This place is amazing, exactly as described, and everyone both staff and fellow patrons were very friendly to me. Sauna is super clean and delightful.
My favorite place in Seattle. VERY accommodating/welcoming to all genders. Serene outdoor nude deck for a no line tan, sauna and hot tub get very hot, their cold showers are a must!
I’ve had two massages here within the past month (in the midst of moving so lots of aches and pains!) and both massage therapists have been very intentional and worked wonders. Couldn’t recommend more!
Casimir is a wonderful massage therapist. I recommend Sacred Rain highly. Great front desk staff too!
My wife and I have been there a few times and enjoy the facility very much. Very clean, the staff are always willing to help and the spa and sauna are amazing.
Little gem in Ballard. Beautiful people running a beautiful healing center. I often go there when I need to disconnect from electronics and too many daily life stimulus and relax and socialize in a calm environment.
Great therapeutic massage in a pretense free environment. William Leigh is the best. My sciatic nerve pain just goes away under his care. Office is soothing and very well appointed.
Theres a lovely small fountain on the sundeck outside which is lovely to sit next to and rest for a minute. You forget youre in Seattle sometimes, sitting among a tiny garden or letting heat soak into your bones in the cedar sauna. You can also get massages for 20mins to 2 hours and they have aromatherapy options of lavender, lemongrass, eucalyptus or cedarwood.
I would consider other Health and Spa locations.I spoke directly with John Manager who was extremely rude, confrontational and did not care about his company or providing any form of customer service throughout the conversation. I Do Not recommend anyone experience this types of situation
SRHC is a serene and friendly environment that accommodates my schedule for evening massage therapy. Have yet to enjoy the full facility but a personal tour by John Hanron gave insights to all that SRHC has to offer. Thats why, at present, Ive only given it four stars as Im saving the last star for future enjoyment/relaxation.
Enjoyed the relaxing massage so booked my spouse for one also
Beautiful setting and even got some sun on the deck in December.
A very tranquil spa that leaves you rejuvenated. Love the amenities and layout - super comfortable! Will definitely be coming back 😊
I really liked this place, is small with a hot tub and a jacuzzi, very clean and people were nice and polite.
I enjoyed a day pass with the sauna, hot tub and *freedom*. Excellent facility and amenities.
My favorite place in Seattle :)
John and kellie are cooler than the other side of the pillow!! Place is AMAZING!!! my new guilty pleasure thanks!! Highly recommended!!!
Great spa! Clean facility and welcome atmosphere. Only thing missing is a fire pit outside.
Very relaxing environment. Beautifully designed space with outdoor deck, hot tub and sauna.
Sauna is hot.Hot tub just right.Super relaxing.
Love this place. Good vibez and william is awesome massage therapist 10/10 would recommend
Amazing experience with the kindest staff. Thank you very much!
Awesome staff with the best patio. Cant wait for the hot tub to go in
Wonderful staff. Very clean, safe, and inviting :)
This is a beautiful oasis in the middle of an up and coming chic-industrial neighborhood in Ballard.
The Best!!! Nothing but Love for Sacred Rain...beautiful vibe, beautiful setting...
Good but to cold to enjoy the sauna
Unique place with a great community!
Good spa. I like the atmosphere.
Wasnt expecting to see everyone naked. It was a funny experience.
