As far as dive bars go, Darrells Tavern is one of the best! Stiff drinks, cold beers, awesome pizzas, and tacos on Tuesday. The staff is friendly but will not put up with any guff from patrons, unless they know you well. Dan the owner is a wonderful person. The live music is loud and proud so bring yourself some ear plugs. They have an outdoor seating area for those who smoke, and thats always a pleasure, its even heated in the winter.
Great old school style bar, love the staff and the atmosphere. They play pretty good tunes too. Delicious personal pizzas only $10!!!
We were there yesterday to watch a friend play, the band is called the morning watch! I have some samples of the show in the videos! I was so surprised that they had a stout on tap! I was so happy! We drank a couple of them and it was so delicious!Bartender was fast and great, knowledgeable and gives options!Lots of sitting (come early) and standing room to enjoy the music! It was a really great time last night. The bus from downtown was a treat to the destination! Will come again!!!
What can you say about this American institution? Some of the best live punk and alt music in the country. Darrell’s is a survivor and a thriver. It’s been serving the community ear candy for decades and has thankfully dogged the wrecking ball so far. With a full bar and a pool table, what more do you need?
I went to Darrells tavern to watch my sons band play. There was a low cover to enter the tavern but that was expected. The atmosphere was good and my sons band played and the sound was good. Unfortunately there were plenty of people and just a couple of servers there. I didnt order anything because nobody approached me to ask what I wanted but I was okay with that. People sitting at the bar got served and people sitting at the tables had food and drinks as well. I was standing up front listening to the band. Everything was fine and my son finished playing. I listened to the band after his for a few songs and then left.I may come back and visit another time when it is less busy and find out how the food and drinks are.
Went to this place with a buddy to see his friends band. Sat at the bar and both bartenders where horrible. I never got the womens names. But my buddy and I got yelled at for asking for are tabs? The one with the glasses tells me why am I bothering her. I told her I just wanted to paid my tab? I gave this place one star because the music was good. But never going there again!
Very laid back ... but how should I know, as I hardly ever go to taverns, yet the local musicians were marvelous.
Top notch joint for a low key, hassle free evening. The pizzas are pretty darn tasty
Very unique place to visit if youre in town. Good beer selection on tap and in cans. Theyve got live music with great bands regularly. They love to support musicians and artists when they come through. Highly recommend!
Great dive bar in the neighborhood. Didn’t see a band play, but the sound setup is pretty intense for such a small venue… I bet the shows are great!
This place is truly a hotspot. They get some of the greatest local bands Ive ever seen. The Mrs Bill Larson Band was so spectacular I was simply Blown Away. The bar is generally standing room only when a good band is playing. They have a great selection of beer and this place is a nostalgic 70s Seattle bar. The atmosphere is great and the people are fun.
Great old place for good drinks at good prices! They have several great beers on tap and a full bar of course. Free pool table too. On the weekends they have awesome live music usually with a small cover charge. One of the last great old Taverns, give it a try!
Straight outta the 60’s into the presentWhat an awesome place
My bestie brought me here for their weekly trivia night, and I had a total blast. Darrells is the kind of dive bar that scratches every itch: relaxed kitsch, simple & unfussy food & beer, and wonderful community. This place is a neighborhood treasure because of the people who love it - friendly and welcoming vibes abound. Definitely hit up Marys trivia night on Tuesdays (the stakes could not be lower, as they say, and Mary is always right! 😁). Mary is a real gem and handles the crowd hilariously as only a former school teacher can. Thanks for having me, Darrells!
I need to come back on a normal night for sure, which I am open to. Came on a live music Friday night with a $10 cover. Very divy bar which is fine but outdated, broken seats, a little run down. Music was fun but acoustics inside were not great so it was really just too loud, left you with ringing ears, and could not hear the vocals at all. Would benefit from a food truck in the parking lot. House margarita was very bad. Simple but fine beer selection. 3 stars is fitting.
First time here and I love the place... Great, out-of-the-way, dive bar feel. Hope it stays that way and doesnt become overrun by hipsters, bro-grammers and woo-girls. They do music most nights of the week except Tuesdays (Trivia Night)... Music is eclectic - Rock, Punk, Country, Jazz. They are known for their Sunday Jazz Jam. I was there for an Opera on Tap event and it was a great spot for it. Great acoustics. great open space, great outdoor area, great parking... Full bar (they have Maritime Jolly Roger Christmas Ale on tap!). Only pre-made pizza, popcorn and chips for food... But Id come for the music.
Great little dive bar with amazing local shows and events.
Nice traditional bar, bands, good pizza, unpretentious
Super fun venue, I love the live music and the bartenders are friendly. Great bar to sit at while you enjoy the music
We had a great time at Darrels. The service and patrons were friendly. It is a dive bar, so dont expect anything fancy. It also helps if you like velvet paintings and Elvis...
The place is a dive bar, good prices I had a good experience the first time I went. The 2nd time the female security guard was on a power trip and wouldnt let us in. She said we were to wet. It was poring outside right when we walked from my apartment. So we ended up going down the street at another local bar on aurora
I didnt eat but this place is fantastic. The bartender is kind and you really cant go wrong with velvet paintings. :)
Darrells is one of my favorite local dive bars. I try to come by a few times a year on Sundays, when they have the amazing jazz jam.The service is always impressive. They have a great list of beers, cocktails, and booze. Personal pizzas are available for food, and if they are out, you can bring in outside food.Always a good time at Darrells!
Great venue for live music, including an open mic on Wednesdays. Good vibe and one of the best house drum kits in Seattle for open mics.
Parking is a gamble but if you love dive bars like I do it feels comfortable. It was my first time there but I saw MDC and potbelly
Darrells is a laid-back bar with just the right sized stage for performers. Ive been to the Sunday night jazz jam a lot. Singing with the band is a lot of fun and its a great place to meet up with fellow singers and musicians. If you want impromptu jazz, Sunday night atDarrells is the place. And I really like their mini-pizzas to soak up the beer.
Excellent local dive bar that has bands that play every weekend. If you want to see some live music but dont want to drive to downtown Seattle, come here for a cool local show and free parking.
They arent friendly about havin k9 companions. Live music sometimes. Taverns should welcome all pets to join! Its a tavern. Not a place of worship?
Dive bar. Weird but fun crowd. Excellent drinks. The light my fire cocktail with jalepeno tequila is particularly good. The decor wasnt to my taste. But Im not a dive bar guy. If you like dive bars, youll love Darrells.
Ive been here 3 times to see my cousins band play. Super nice people and environment. Cold beer. Fair acoustics. Clean bathroom. Always surprised to find a parking space.
So glad to see Darrells Tavern up and running - theyve adopted some really great safety measures after re-opening including hand sanitizer and temp checks. The staff are outstanding and are taking the measures seriously while also providing great service. Shout-out to Emily who always takes great care of me and remembers what I drink, even if its been months since Ive visited.I miss the live music and trivia but Im sure thatll be back once safety permits.
Fun spot for good live music. Went to see a friend play there and it was a cozy, intimate spot for them to jam in. Food was good and they have some good local beers to slam down. Not a bad spot to catch some bands and drink up.
Had a very enjoyable time at Wednesday night open mic. Great house band.
Fantastic, classic bar. Staff is great and friendly, beer is good, cocktails are good and price is awesome. They keep things safe and open. One of my favorite places
First time impression! velvet Elvis esk decor Lively crowd, high energy crowd-pleasing band Alright by midnight Rocked the house! Good beer selection good bar! Would definitely go again.
My first time here and I liked it , its my kind of screaming, let loose ,dance place ,but was unhappy to find that the band I came to see had cancelled .The band Jodie Watts was real good and Ill go see them again sometime.
Litterally been coming here since I was four (4) years old. Darrell was my grandfather. He would let me play pinball while he did the books in the morning before the place opened. More recently (Im now 52) I had a few drinks, listened to some good live music, met the current owner and had a great time. Thanks for the tour of the old pool hall downstairs. It really brought back good memories of my grandpa.
Great music. variety of entertainment and right in my neigborhood. nothing like it around. the bartenders are delightful and the owner is around and will have a chat. i felt really welcome. prices are great too.
Darrells Tavern is our favorite bar in the whole Greater Seattle area. Everyone who works there is wonderful. Its a fantastic place for live music - excellent bands play all the time.
This is a good traditional tavern out in Shoreline. It doesnt look like much from the outside, in fact driving past on Hwy 99 you may not even notice it. But inside its comfortable, with a 1960s or 1970s type of decor, complete with (fake?) wood paneling. Beer prices are quite reasonable and selection ranges from local microbrews to Rainier. There is something special going on each night, including trivia, open mic, and live music on Friday and Saturday. Plus, they pay their acts fairly, a rarity in the industry. Well worth the trio.
Came in with no expectations and was never greeted nor talked to in this short visit. Was interested in seeing what the place had to offer hoping to find a diamond in the rough. But was just rough. Wasnt served so not much to report.
Stopped by here to see what it is like now. Taken over by twenty-something pseudo-hipsters who are decidedly NOT cool. Was accosted by a very intense young woman at the door demanding $9 for cover even though music wouldnt start for 1.5 hrs. Told her I just wanted a beer and was let in. Took fifteen minutes for bartender to get me a beer and then sternly told me ITS SIX BUCKS! Really, I thought, six bucks for a beer, nine bucks for a local nobody band? Pretentious A-holes, save your money and time.
Love love love this place! Emily is the best bar keep ever! Great live music, VERY diverse! I always feel welcome, the vibe is fantastic!
A hole in the wall with great service and good beers on tap. Happy hour prices make stopping in after work worth it. The food menu consists of pre-made pizzas, which are reasonable for a dive bar.
Great live music on the patio. Excellent mixed drinks, wide selection of beers, great service. Friends, family over 21, good times for all! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
This is an amazing dive bar. I felt like I was transported to the 1970s. A place that Tom Waits would call home or 1970s Waits would. Cool music, cushioned bar, and carpet on the walls. Americana perfection.
I remember when I make my first peek and step in to Darrells Tavern, I feel comfortable and after couple more visits a realize that this place have a lot more to offer then just old floor and cheep beer. Darrells Tavern give me big wormed welcome hand, friends and friendship for live. Darrells offer five six days of live music and sometime even seven, because they just want it to, oh yeah -, after while you, just like me find out and see, why this place stay in shape of sixstees.Darrells Tavern is live and kicking hard.If you like do Birthday party here, dont be shy to ask, because they are super fun and cast amost nothing!I love Darrells and so easy five from me.
The live music there its amazing. I think they have shows five nights a week. Cheap drinks, great staff, an awesome punk rock and Metal, and rock music
Ive been looking for a dive bar like this forever and was so glad to finally find it at Darrells. Its definitely the kind of place you want to take your friends, unfussy, but with a decent drink selection, good pinball machines, velvet paintings on a tinsel background like something out of a Kacey Musgraves video and some seriously solid trivia on Tuesdays. Plus, it felt safe to my lgbt friends, and thats important to me because not all dive bars are, even in the PNW, so props to Darrells for that, too. That and the $1 tacos. Yum.
Crowd is a little older and the bar smells like cigarettes. Went to a live show, they charge a cover for live music. Overall it was okay but I am not in a hurry to go back.
Took a little longer to get my food and drinks than I would have liked, but it was also very busy, on a friday night. Great food. Super friendly staff. Great place to take kids, or just go for a few drinks.
GREAT tavern & a great place to see all your favorite local bands week after week. Fun atmosphere & decor. Good times with friends. Bands from all genres of Rock!
Cover charge with live music was not communicated ahead of time. Music was awful. House had the music WAYYY too loud. Fail.
I love the open mic...the house musicians are wonderful! Very talented.
Good vibe and a fun place. If there is live music, I would recommend bringing ear plugs because it can get quite loud
Old style bar, mostly younger crowd. Went on open mic night, it was a fun time. Each performer gets a really long time, so that was awesome for the guys
Decent Dive Bar. Live music, good beer, parking , and a Jack in the Box next door for a post beer fest grub down. Great place to meet old college buddies but for anybody higher on the social ladder you better try someplace else
Everyone hi i have been at this for almost ten years the people i have met are wonderful it is a place to come meet great people and a wonderful enviroment. If you like music this bar has got it but dont forget to tip your bar tender they are awesome as well hope to see you. Down here thanks darrells tavern
Classic dive bar. Some outdoor seating / smoking area fenced off in the parking lot. Has a pool table, velvet paintings and a small stage. Oh, and a bar with booze.
This is a fantastic place with very friendly staff and ownership...
Love this place! Great pours at a good price and if youre lucky you might get to see some live music. Food is worth what you pay for it.
As far as taverns go this fits the stereotype. Im not even out of my car and there is already a fight going on outside. Once inside it had a older vibe to it. If youre looking to get drunk and not do much this is your place. Not the place for young drinkers.
Bartenders will go out of their way to make the drink you will enjoy. Friendly atmosphere. Bands play there so check it out.
Really fun place to have a few drinks and watch a local band play
Think twice ! “PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU ENTER DARRELL’S TAVERN!! Be warnedWhen you go there have a moment of silence in memory of a woman named Elenor for her husband abused her and neglected their three children and was the owner of this place during the nineties until his death a very evil man. I know of four men who were regulars who died of alcoholism and there were children neglected and were left at home without supervision and they had problems for years.Today the owner keeps a dog locked up in a travel box and is the most vindictive woman I have ever known. I wish you would not put money in her pocket.I pray that she finds the lord.
Great music, chill vibes!!
This is a great drive bar. It has a weird, retro feel. Keep in mind the drinks are normal strength not like most dive bars.
Great neighborhood place to hang with friends. Very friendly staff, good customer service. Will be back.
For years this place has kicked butt! From Taco Tuesdays, to live music on the weekends, this place rocks! Pizza is good too! Check it out yourself.
Favorite dive bar in seattle Damien is the man, good place to watch all sports great happy hour live music all week long. Go here now!
I only go for Sunday night jazz session and the homemade bitters...great placeOrange Cardamon bitters with jameson, yum! Come play your insturment, sing your song, play pool, and listen.
Always a great time at Darrells!!
Great dive bar with Great staff and live music. Open Mic on Wed... Jesse great host for that. Just good dive bar fun all around. .
Go for Taco Tuesday a couple times a month. Its exactly what it is suppose to be for $1 and never disappoints. Beer is cold and the staff is always friendly.
Great Rock bands...excellent indoor and outdoor stages...reputable beer selection....nice staff ...and the mini-pizzas are tasty!
Great music venue, active show schedule, no nonsense bartenders. Great pizza, good drink specials, best damn dollar tacos in the Seattle area.
Its not really a dive, not exactly a music club, not so much an old man bar, not especially a younger crowd, not trendy, not passé, not outdated, and not updated.
Oh yeah, Darrells place is great. They support live music and always have awesome bands and a good time!
Great place that has live music and drinks. Check their web site for bands/times.
A very fun place with friendly management. Music most nights. A great find for drinks.
Darrells has THE best open mic host, yeah Jesse, and a super friendly atmosphere! We love it there.
Im not sure what my husband and I were waiting for in visiting this place. Its rad! Live music, good beer. Close to home. Amazing.
My Dad drank here! Classic 60s restoration decor. Great tacos, bevs, and bands!
Great place and bartenders are amazing. If you love rock or punk music this is the place.
Great bartender. Older mainly male crowd on a wednsday evening, good cheap baked potato . Seems like it could be fun on a weekend night.
Hole in the wall type bar. Funky décor, awesome music, tall drinks. Free pool. The opposite of trendy, just your classic Americana bar
One of the last bastions of non-Amazonized Seattle. Culture and vibe is anathema to the soul devoid, career/network-focused tech world. Enjoy this hold out until the inevitable Bezosian blight reaches it.
Great, affordable bar with live music and pizza!
Best bar Ive found on the north end, great atmosphere and cool cocktails. Variety of live music is a plus!
We had a great time. Beer, Pizza, and a live band. It was a great evening.
Awesome people and I love the fact that they support the LBGTQ Community. Hope to be back soon and see yall again.
Great dive bar to hang out at with lots of live music.

I dont live in this neighborhood, but if I did, this spot would my regular. Great spot to see a band or just hang out with some friends.
Nice people, pool table, pin ball and trashy artwork. Good beer. Gets crowded so I like to go early.
Do you love velvet Elvis paintings and cheap beer? This is your place. Good live music too.
This place is great. The customers are friendly & fun, the music sounds good. Ill definitely be coming back
Great place to relax has been in the same location all my life (64) building new condos across the street
I was there on Trivia night. it was a lot of fun And I won a pitcher of beer to share
A single meh, but free pool table. Some decent pizza. Decent beer selection. Friendly atmosphere.
Nice atmosphere. Jazz on Sundays. Open mic on Wednesdays. Always worth popping in.
Friendly clientele, laid back staff, a good size stage and live music+jams.
Besides my friends opening line being they dont allow you to drink in strip clubs here in washington it was pretty damn decent little place that i will return to when Im in the area.
It doesnt get any more authentic than Darrells. A good honest tavern, live music, great prices and a good local crowd
Super adorable little bar! Love their open mic night on Wednesdays 🍻
This is definitely a dive bar that smells like old something! It doesnt turn me away at all, but my girlfriend doesnt like to go there.
Live music, incredible classy decor, cheap drinks; what more could you ask for?! Great pizza!
Throw back bar thats been there my whole life. Local dive bar that has survived through the ages and attracts everyone!
Great atmosphere and location. Great music, too. Cover was a bit expensive at $10, but worth it.
Nice neighborhood bar, live different music different nights. Jazz on Sundays, chill small spot
This is a nice drinking hole. Gabby is a GREAT bartender. A nice place to grab a drink. Need wings on the menu.
Shut up and drink, listen to bar bands and shoot pool. They may have highbrow IPAs on tap, but stick to your tallboys because, well, youre home with your peoples here.
Great place. Highly recommended to the folks in Shoreline looking for a local tavern.
Really fun place! There was a cool band, great beer, and fun people!
Awesome little bar, good local bands. Amazing Bloody Mary!
Great atmosphere. We also saw a legend play, so theres that. One Willis is a god.
Its a dive bar, near Aurora. What else can you expect? Supports local music scene which is awesome!
Amazing fun at trivia and such an old school feeling. Will be bringing my husband back to enjoy the vibe.
Great little dive bar for live music 👍
Great place to enjoy music. Tasty pizzas as well.
Great music and atmosphere can be found here, and with friendly and helpful staff as well.
Great dive bar with live shows pretty frequently. A real gem.
Kick a** music scene. Wide variety. Punk, metal, surf, open mic. Wednesday. Decent pizza from sodo.
Classic dive with the classic vibe. Tip a few back but dont forget to tip a few back to your tender as well. This place is golden.
Drinks are a bit much but a nice place and lots of bands coming all the time.
We had a blast here. Great music.
Dav dive bar of all time. Amazing music. Good staff. Awesome owner
Kitch bar with live music. See your friends band play here. Dress down, enjoy.
Nice bar. Like the smoking area ouside. Nice bartender.
Very cool vintage dive. Awesome vibe. Live music. Terrible pool table. Awful service.
Parking lot fills up quickly. Good, local bar overall. Friendly staff.
The smell of urine in the mens room is overshadowed by the stench of desperation that oozes from the bar. Also good for office parties!
They have great pizza and the service was good. A good atmosphere and good music.
Great place to play and the bartenders are awesome!
Very loud even for a place with live music
Best local live music venue!
Great dive bar where you can see local shows.
Great neighborhood classy dive bar, stiff drinks and great service!
Checked out a local band Guns of NevadaCheck these guys out! Great show!

ONE OF MY FAVE PLACES TO EVERY KIND OF MUSIC! FUN PLACE!
Really chill & cheap.. Really nice out side area.. I would hang here any day..
A cool old school bar with a velvet Elvis painting. Cool band too.
Loud, hard metal music by locals. Friendly aging metalheads and the odd 50 year old punk or two. Just my style.
Great place to get a beer and listen to surf music!
Great local tavern with live music and an awesome staff.
Fun, live music and fast moving bartenders. Loved it!
Great place for cheap drinks and live music.
Friendly bartenders and awesome live music!
Great drinks, great service, wonderful atmosphere!
Dive bar with lots of local color. Working class, comfortable. My spot.
Good bands. nice bar stools.
Fun, laid back and great jazz on Sunday nights.
Place is a legitimate dive, however it does smell bad so I would avoid drinking anything from the taps
They have Mic night, live music such as Jazz
One of the funner dive bars on Aurora. And, good music on Sunday nights.
Venue, music, staff...all get 5 stars!!! Love me some Darrells!!!
I love this place. Quirky, great music, interesting people.
Dirty, dank, old and awesome.. kinda gritty dive bar... i love it
Good group of people and laid back.
Good variety for open-mic on Wednesdays and a chill, friendly environment.
One of Seattles most authentic rock clubs.
My favorite music venue in Northend.
Best dive bar in Shoreline! Great beer list.
Hands down, Best Tavern around for Live Music!
