We absolutely did not get what we paid for, as you can see from the photos (our group is in their early 30s). Time stamps on the photos range from 10 pm - midnight (when we had to give up on caring because the bar was so crowded/bouncers couldnt keep up with the volume - and thats not a dig, just the facts). These photos are also just a small sample of the number of people that took our reserved seats. As soon as we got up to get a drink, use the restroom, etc. someone would slide in. This is obviously not on the patrons, there was no way they could have known since the bar made little to no effort to indicate the seats had been reserved. Scott is correct that I was up most of the night (per his response to my last review), of course this is because our seats were taken. My partner and I have both worked in the service industry and are always respectful because weve been there. We point blank said to the cocktail waitress and bouncer that our frustration was not with them, we understood management likely did not prep their staff for our group coming in. Not cool to play that card, but not surprising, its low hanging fruit to say that we were rude to the staff. We also had an incident where the bouncer asked two gentlemen to move and they got in his face. One of them then proceeded to pour a drink on the chair so we couldnt sit down. Im shocked the bouncer didnt kick them out, now THAT was being terrible to the staff. They also didnt have a manager on duty, which is just poor business on a busy Saturday night.I dont know how they can deny what clearly happened and wouldn’t expect us to escalate this. I also called to ask them to please reverse the charges to give them a chance to do the right thing before we took this further, but never heard back. My only intent is to warn others of my experience in hopes they have a better one. I also do not know anyone named Colton (seems odd to assume other one star reviews are me?)UPDATE: My credit card company fully refunded this charge after a dispute period with the merchant. Shakedown had an opportunity to respond to my claim and they either 1. Did not respond, or 2. Did respond, but didnt have any proof that could counter all of the proof I attached with my complaint (+ a letter from an attorney). Clearly, Shakedown was in fact in the wrong and did not provide the service I paid for. Feeling very thankful to be done with this and to never go back - but, wishing all the best to the staff, I hope management does better for you all in the future.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Shakedown Bar again, and I must say, it was an experience beyond my expectations! From the moment I walked in, the vibrant atmosphere and warm welcome made me feel right at home. The live music lineup is nothing short of phenomenal, offering a diverse range of genres that cater to all tastes. Its evident that Shakedown Bar isnt just a venue; its a community hub where artists and audiences come together to share unforgettable moments. The staff at Shakedown Bar deserve a special mention for their impeccable service. Friendly, attentive, and always ready with a recommendation, they truly know how to make every guest feel special. Whether youre a regular or a first-timer, youre treated like family here. The drinks menu is another highlight, featuring an impressive selection of cocktails, craft beers, and spirits. Each drink is crafted to perfection, showcasing the bars commitment to quality and creativity. What truly sets Shakedown Bar apart, though, is its dedication to fostering a supportive environment for local musicians and artists. This place is a testament to the power of music in bringing people together, creating a sense of community thats hard to find elsewhere. In summary, Shakedown Bar is more than just a bar; its an experience, a community, and a celebration of music and camaraderie. Whether youre here for the music, the drinks, or the company, youre in for a fantastic time. I cant recommend it enough and look forward to many more memorable nights here!
A complete scam. I paid a $1,000 reservation for our Jack & Jill to reserve 16 seats and, spoiler, we did not get the seats. We are in the process of escalating this. Truly this was a complete scam. Do not go here and do not spend your money here.Update: Got a full refund after a dispute period. Because of the nature of the dispute, Shakedown had the opportunity to respond and either 1. Did not, or 2. Did, but was lacking any sort of “proof” to counter the photos, letters, and other documentation I provided. Clearly I didn’t get what I paid for, despite what the owner may have said, but feeling very thankful to be done with this all and never return.
Had an absolute blast here! Went here not once, but twice while on vacation. Great live music, drinks, and atmosphere. Marissa is the best— I left my phone here and was departing early the next morning. When I reached out, she replied instantly AND went out of her way to overnight SHIP my phone back to me after finding it. 10/10 experience and 10/10 recommend.
What an amazing hidden gem! After a day of skiing it was really astounding to find front row seating for a live music performance by Kory Montgomery! Big thanks to Dave at the door who leaned that we were in a hurry to catch a flight and convinced Kort to get on stage, perform his original works and start taking requests! The acoustics in this place are STELLAR and the sound guy deserves a high five and a raise, at least! Even the bartender was a laugh riot, and put up with our rowdy group like a champ! Seriously, I wasnt expecting such an awesome low key venue in Vail, of all places. Where else can you find a guy playing Nirvana covers on an acoustic guitar while taking requests for songs he almost knows? No where else! Awesome times to be had!
Great music venue. Scott runs a great business/bar. Respectful atmosphere and awesome place for live music. Always a good time.
Went to see a performer who cancelled, the venue made no effort to update this information. Was charged $35 for two coors. Would not reccommend
I love this place! It is awesome!I have been wanting to patronize this establishment for the past two years that Ive lived down the street from it. But, back when covid was happening, on their website they said you had to provide a vaccine card to get in. So I wrote them off completely and swore I would never spend one penny at such a place... However, it seems like everyone has gotten a hold of themselves about this virus, so I gave them a try and Im very glad that I did. I had a very fun time and all the people were so nice and wonderful. It is a really great place with some really great talent that shows up on occasion. If youre in Vail and you like live music, this is your place. Leave your vax passport at home!
Scott and his crew are awesome! Had a blast hanging with everyone and enjoyed the show!
The downstairs band was great the vibes were electric, the side bar in the back downstairs with the single bartender I paid 45 dollars for a double red bull vodka I tried to ask her to fix it and she ignored me on purpose and got her automatic %20 tip. A place like that should not have an automatic tip for the service that lady was giving all night and attitude she gave.
Absolutely the worst place Ive been to in a long time. Took bachelor party there. They lost my friends card and denied they had it. They finally found it. He did leave a bad comment on the receipt due to the attitude they threw us. He paid. They threw us out over it and proceeded to call the cops. Had my friend taken to jail over it. Cant believe they treat people like that
Very cool spot. Just don’t know how you get away with charging $20 a head every night for mediocre live bands. I guess they’re the only player in town. Definitely a cool spot tho and worth a visit. Just not the type of place a regular can pop in for a drink because of the cover. We had a group of ten who were coming by Saturday. They wanted $200 for us to walk thru the doors yet we just wanted to hop around. Doesn’t make sense for that. We dipped.
Great place for music, drinks and a great night
Went here for the first time last night. If I could give this place 10 starts, I would. From the vibe, to the decor & beautifully designed space, to the the bartenders and the talent (i.e., Scott and Rob) this place is top notch and by far the best music venue in Vail. Great music... such a fun place!
Best spot in town for live music. The audio mix is great. The dance floor is fun to watch and the drinks arent terribly expensive. $5 cover for the bands is kosher in my book for a good time in Vail.
This place is a blast! Great late night drinks and dancing in Vail! Live music most nights too!
Fun. Good drinks. Friendly service, friendly local crowd.
The house band is excellent! Its a cozy place so it can get crowded quickly and the bar area is small so be prepared to wait with some patience. Decent beer and liquor selection and the pricing is fair for being in Vail.
Cass sets the standard for service. She’s the BEST!
Went in to check the place out, staff was friendly and informative. Nice small selection of quality tequila. Band was great, acoustics lighting and effects we to notch for such a small venue.
Great place, great fun, great music!! I signed up for yelp because I saw a few pin heads post a one star?? I think they must have been turned away at the door for being stupid.. you won’t regret your visit if you love great musical talent a short and a beer
Great place to eat drink and be Merry. And Listen to Bands like Warsaw.
Not gonna win any awards for diversity, this bar, but then neither is Vail. Granted there was a solid live band we did enjoy. This was a trip down memory lane to the basic bro infested dive bars of your college days. And thats still appealing to some people. The cover charge at the door is honestly surprising for a bar of this type, but thats fine. Maybe thats just ski town bars. But somehow you wonder why cash only cover still exists in a society with credit cards, quick pay, venmo and other instant cash transfer apps. Service at the bar was fast once your able to actually get to the counter, because no one in a seems to understand how to keep moving once youve got your drink at the only bar counter in the place.
Loud, hot, dense, busy, intense. Feels like a dive bar, but not one where youll get in a fight with a redneck. The band was great and the bartenders worked fast despite a fully packed house.
A fun spot to hit up in the evening after a day on the slopes. Ive been twice - the first time the band was great, playing jam band type covers. The second time the band was just okay, but it was still a fun time. Dive bar drinks.
Great place! A little small, but still a good time.
When in Vail for after ski this is a great spot for a drink. Scott Rednor is a great artist and plays daily (check schedule) Also every evening they usually have some great bands come through.
Was quoted $10/person cover at the door. But they charged me $160. When I saw this on my credit card, I called multiple times, emailed multiple times, no answer, never got a return call. So I challenged it with my credit card provider, and Shakedown contested it by saying it was a legit charge. It was most certainly NOT. Still, no one will call me back. This is bad business.
Great vibe. Kory Montgomery was killin it, best rendition of Britney Spears Toxic ever, country style. A fight between some patrons was on the verge of breaking out within minutes of sitting down.Overall, a great all American experience one can ask for.
Fun but small bar in the heart of Vail village. Great live music on the weekends. Drinks are generally about $10 each so not too bad.
Such a fun hideout! Dave Tucker aptes singer is awesome! And 10th Mountain, the band following Dave is outrageously creative and fun!
You cant visit Vail without heading to Shakedown. Weve been coming here since it was The Club, many years ago. Best place for fun live music and shenanigans.
Tayler Scott Band and the vibe was awesome. Go right at 10pm to avoid the line at the door
The only venue in Vail to see artists daily , Must see to appreciate the talents that come here, especially on weekends. Good vibrations always had here for sure!
Always a Cool local crowd from Vail & the right amount of friends from around the U.S.A. intermingling to Great Live Music!!! Scott Rednor is always a Gracious Host!!!
Great live music dive bar. The band is always fantastic, drinks are cheap. Dance floor and tables available.
The live music was great. Very cool place, good amount of people for a Sunday. Had an awesome time!
Small downstairs bar with great local music. Fair price for drinks. They allow you to bring your own food. Only bar snacks on-site.
Dont go anywhere that requires you to get jabbed! Take your business elsewhere! Show them their business will suffer because of this! We lived a year with out bars, we dont need them!
My favorite bar in Vail!
My favorite place in Vail. Best service and live music.
Shakedown in this underground bar with great live music most weekend nights. It gets jammed in there so get there early with a crew and lock down some of the limited good real estate.
Saw a comedy show at this bar and had a delightful time!
Only 1 star because I can’t do 0! Pictures are worth a thousand words! Segregation is now back in the US.
Went to Shakedown after a wedding and it was the perfect end to the night. Great atmosphere to have a couple drinks and dance all night long!
What a great place to mingle with locals and tourists alike. The live music is awesome. This place is a must visit.
Live music with no crowd control. Fun but packed, cover charge to get in
Single room with stage and 2 bar venue. Opens often, cover charge during peak times. Good music.
Just as I had remembered it when it was The Club. Visiting after 15 years. Great live music in a fun environment.
FING. AWESOME... GREAT BAND FRIENDLY STAFF GREAT COMPANY...BACK AGAIN NEXT SAT. FOR BROTHERS KEEPER ROCK THE HOUSE!
Fun live music in one of the coolest spots in North America, Vail Village... Dont overlook this hip little bar on your next visit to Vail...
Fun bar with live music. Good drinks, good crowd.
The best live band around, Brothers Keeper. Another great night of great covers.
Great place to enjoy a show and enjoy time with friends.
I like this place. Live music and fin atmosphere
We are from Oklahoma and wish we had a place like shakedown close to us. Love the vibe and awesome music
In my opinion, this is the only place that feels truly like a bar in Vail. Definitely my favorite place I went when I was in Vail.
Great music. We enjoyed the talent and the staff attentive.
Cool spot to see a show. Bartenders are nice. Easy to get drinks
Great atmosphere, good music, expensive drinks other than cups of beer
Great music venue and bartenders are competent which is more than most establishments can claim
Fantastic live bands, fast bar service, Grateful Dead-inspired covers

Very small, cant fit alot of people in there, and ran out of a couple drink choices, but drinks were strong
Great place to catch live music when youre in Vail.
Great sound and great band. Cool bar
Great band. Fun place to hang out.
Shakedown is the premiere night spot in Vail Village. Bring your dancing shoes!
Do not recommend! They segregate who’s allowed in and who isn’t. Not chill!
Fun place to cap off the night, and listen to some live tunes
So fun. Awesome music! Had a blast.
Back in action! Great live music and happy peeps!!!

Awesome place for live music 🔥
Unaccomodating , bar closed early even though posted hours were 2am close-lame
Best Bar In Town From Drinks to Entertainment This place has figured it out!!
Fun spot. Good bands
Nothing especially bad. In fact, it might be the better choice in the area.
Great music, awesome people.
Best live music in Colorado
When sobriety is no longer an option, come here to exacerbate the problem.
Never go here and WARNING: do not ask the staff for anything. Could not rate any lower

Loved this place
What a blast!
Scott killed it
Overpriced and boring
Smells terrible
Live music!
If you’re looking for a tiny expensive underground bar with live music that smells like incense, you’ve found it. It is rather odd that they have a cover charge when there’s live music and then also have a band tip line on every tab. We were crammed in like sardines on a Saturday night with a bunch of 50+ men awkwardly swaying to the live music and trying to hit on every woman under 50 since they’d left their wives…wherever. Add in the locals who reek like pot trying to dance with the hot young wives…it’s just a weird gross atmosphere you’d only find in a place like vail or Aspen. It was so packed I’m surprised the fire department wasn’t in there removing people. I didn’t see the government mandated capacity sticker but they clearly weren’t doing anything to monitor capacity so who cares? It would truly be one star if not for the staff. They do their best with this nasty weird crowd and despite being busy they were all AWESOME!
The place has a good atmosphere but it smells like vomit and pee.
Good live music
Wow
