We had a great time at the Westerner. It was our first time and we had no idea it would be so packed and such a fun time. $10 cover charge, drinks, food, line dancing, mechanical Bull riding and karaoke.Service was great. We had reserved a table which was great because it was so busy. Food was your bar food. We got nachos, wings and boneless wings to share.
What a fun bar! Such a good vibe, great opportunities for people watching. My mother-in-law had an amazing time learning some line dances. We had Katie as our server initially (she was fantastic) but she left her shift early due to an injury. After she left, no one else ever came to check on us. Our food was mediocre.All-in-all, a great place for dancing but not so great on service and food.
Love it here always feel safe and have a great time dancing with fun food people and of course a great bar staff Eugene is great! He makes great Suggestions and has save myself and some of my friends from some interesting interactions with other customers the bar has no control over!
Hey Everyone! This Bar was awesome! They were willing to play ANY line dance I wanted I just had to ask the line dance DJ and from there it was on within minutes.Everyone was very nice including workers. For a thursday night their was about maybe 45 people, wasn’t packed at all.Tons of seating. The Dance floor is vertical not so much horizontal which was different but there’s so much room to dance I never ran into anyone.Food was good as well.If you’re like me where you want to line dance don’t read the other review’s!Just come,go out,and be yourself! The only down side was there was only one bartender ordering drinks and food and I waited a bit to order and get a to go box other than that GO! 🤠
Their free dance lesson night was terrible. First, theres a cover for their free dance lessons. You cant see the instructor or her so called helper because the floor is packed with patrons that already know all the moves and are there to get an early start on dancing and booze. Even when the instructors see you struggling, they couldnt be bothered to slow down and assist, but rather keep going super fast. Patrons are not friendly and the atmosphere is very uninviting. I am never one to feel out of place but I couldnt shake that feeling the night I went. Maybe its because I sent by myself, but I figured most people would be coming alone to learn line dancing not compete with the regulars. Its like theyre all in competition with eachother Bring It On style. I wouldnt recommend this place for lessons unless they made the following changes. Decidicate a day off lessons to true beginners where regulars could join in if there wasnt a big attendance and hang tvs high around the dance floor with the instructor on it so everyone can see from all parts of the dance floor. The staff is nice overall and I cant comment on the food because I havent had any.
I was completely sober sitting in a chair watching my friends dance. It was angled towards the dance floor. This guy came right in my face and said “you think you are supposed to sit like that?” I had no clue what he was talking about. He then escalated the situation and threatened to kick me out. I then understood what he was talking about and realized he worked here. If I managed that place the last thing I would want is an employee that is a hot head who can’t communicate to straighten a seat effectively. Eugene was the employees name.
We didn’t eat much but the drinks were fun and the service was good too! Crowded night but still we found some chairs. Loved the vibes though! Fun dancing and everyone was happy!
We had fun. However if you are looking to dance more than country swing or line dancing. You will want to go somewhere else. There is a bull riding machine and a karaoke section, for those people who are looking for extra entertainment or that dont want to stumble along with line dances they dont know.
I love this place, even though I live an hour away I still keep coming back. It’s not quite the western saloon type of feel that it was a decade ago but the renovations and updates are beautiful. The patio tables are very nice almost to nice though. It seems to limit social connections though. You sit at someone’s table and they stare at you like an intruder.😂 I couldn’t even come close to naming all the wonderful employees Ausha Chris and Frodo I believe are the longest employees they’ve seen it all and still manage to keep smiling. Ashley, Eugene, Kathleen, Joelle, Kaitlin, Kiley, Haley, Kenadi, Jordan, Keigan, Caleb, Colten, Charlie Brown, Jarin, I know I’m missing people but you are all doing an Excellent job thank you . I think it need to be bigger now though. Even though it’s a large bar , the popularity has grown a ton and you’re shoulder to shoulder many nights . A second location would be a wise decision. Up north preferably 👍👍 lol
I was with friends last night to have fun. The atmosphere is wonderful, we always go there. Then one of my friends decided to have a snack….after that everything was stressful. the attendant named Holly, super rude, charged for a sandwich that never arrived. After 35 minutes we went to ask for snacks, first of all she was extremely rude. Then she was stupid saying bad words. we asked to speak to the manager and she told us that the place had no manager and again offended my friend. so we looked for the customer service front who took us to the manager. We received this well. the money was refunded. But I want to make it clear that the “attendant” named Holly ruined our night.
Bartender Eugene screamed at us like a child throwing a fit ?? The other bartenders who helped us were delightful but he was really off-putting. Others in our group also mentioned it. Also he was wearing sweat-shorts while all the female bartenders were dressed appropriately, it was weird.
I never knew this place existed. Im so glad we went because I loved the dancing and drinks. I took off a star only because the food was no good. I plan on eating elsewhere and then going there for dancing next time. They have a great selection of drinks and the service was decent. The croutons on my salad were expired and I smelled it and knew immediately. They gave me a new salad, but I wasnt excited about eating at that point.
There was NOTHING online about a cover, BUT THERE WAS A $10/PERSON COVER. **BEWARE**Food was decent and decently prices.Bartender was amazing - attentive, great suggestions, heavy-ish pour 😉.Make a reservation if you want a table, but if youre seated next to the dance floor, EXPECT people to stand on the dance floor in front of you 🙄Also, the amount of people on the dance floor that WE NOT doing the line dance or 2-step or really any real dancing was crazy. 🤷♀️Great music. Live music was a nice touch.Huge dance floor.Great country music selection.Overall - great time.
It’s been four or five years since I came out for the line dancing lessons and I went last night with my husband and was pretty disappointed. Rather than the fun, casual, accessible line dancing that normal folks like us could do, it was super fast, complicated, and clique-ish. Kind of wish there was an “intermediate” or “advanced” warning on the class description or maybe a separate beginner class for those of us who want to come learn a few line dances but aren’t dedicated regulars. I guess in my head I interpreted line dancing lessons as teaching line dancing so people who don’t line dance regularly can learn some fun dances and feel more comfortable and welcome on the dance floor, but it was kind of the opposite. I assume there must have been enough people asking for new dances that the instructors had to get creative, I just wish I had known what to expect so I could come a different night. It’s still a fun club, good food, the bartender was great, but if you’re not already skilled in line dancing, I wouldn’t suggest attending the line dancing classes.
I’ve had some pretty bad food but normally when I’ve been drinking it’s not that bad. However I ordered some “buffalo” wings and let me tell you. Even after 8+ drinks these wings were TRASH! The only thing hot about them was that the fact they came out fresh. They were barely edible. If you like honey barbecue then maybe you would enjoy them. Overall if you’re expecting some good wings go somewhere else and order some and then come back to drink. These are TRASH!!!
I read the other dicey reviews: had a positive experience. We saw Professional, kind serving staff, good drink prices, no cover, and coupla fabulous wcs dancers, many good, fun loving dancers, good DJ groove... made this a fun fun wed dance evening. It was our 1st time...we stayed till closing . Sorry I dont gave any photos from inside. We were traveling thru Utah on a roadtrip. These are from town
Me and my group of 18 people went here to celebrate my little sister’s graduation. Everything was fine until the bar tender DEMANDED a tip after being tipped out several times by many people in our group of 18!! My sister barely turned 21 this year and was thrown off guard when this happened to her, so I went to talk to the bar tender and told her that I would appreciate it if she wouldn’t shove the machine back into my little sisters hands and told her with attitude that she “only work for tips and if she didn’t get her tip then she would refuse to serve her” (unfortunately, my little sister was the graduate and the only reason why we were all there so it definitely made me feel some type of way that she was being talked to like that) I literally could not believe she said that and then the bar tender was upset with me when I confronted her about talking to my sister like that. Never in my 31 years of life have I ever dealt with a server like this or ever had anyone DEMAND a tip! I understand bar tenders and waitresses depend on tips but unfortunately you’re not going to get one EVERY SINGLE TIME and that’s just facts. If you want more money then you should probably get a different job that guarantees you the pay you want.Other than this we had no issues with any other server and gladly tipped out the other ones who were kind, doing their jobs, and not DEMANDING my little sister to tip them out or they would refuse her service! Mind you the waitress serving our table was getting tipped all night and when we were waiting for our drinks or food some of us would go to the bar closest to our table where we had to deal with THAT bartender. Writing this sounds like a joke but unfortunately it’s not. I would have liked to give a better rating but this interaction alone ruined the rest of our night and the bar tender should put up a sign next time saying that she “only works for tips, or will refuse to serve you”
Westerner is a great club it is an awesome place to hang out and have a good time! They have delicious food & drinks the service is great they have an awesome DJ and live bands on the weekend. The dance floor is the best there is and they teach line dancing and partner dance 4 days a week! Check the website for details on dance lessons! 🕺❤️🎶
Really love this place, genuinely so much, but they say on their website and their signs that they have karaoke every night which is a blatant lie. Brought my whole crew off girls out for Galentines and promised them the opportunity to sing like rockstars because I CALLED and that’s what they said on the phone but that wasn’t actually case. Real disappointing. :(
Some of the most rude staff I have ever encountered. I have never been treated so poorly by other human beings in my life. Super disappointed in this establishment and I will not be giving them a dime after seeing how they treat people.
The last time we came there were no waitresses heard they all walked out… it was better when Theresa there as the manager she had the place running smoothly miss her hopefully she comes back… hopefully they get some waitresses when we decide to go back and their food is different they took some of my favorites out of the menu as food wise….
Wow, where do I begin. First off, I want to say that this is one of the best places I have ever been for country dancing. There are some absolute amazing dancers. What a blast. The westerner deserves a 5/5 ranking for just the dancing alone. However, my experience extends beyond just the phenomenal dancing. They went above and beyond to help me. I have never had better service anywhere. They are fantastic! They have excellent staff, management, and security. I cant say enough nice things about my experience there. If I could give you a 10 out of 5, it wouldnt be enough. Thank you so much!
I’m not a bar-goer, but I like to go here to dance. This place is very fun and the service is great. I didn’t eat so I can’t tell you about it. But it’s a very fun place and I love the dance lessons here. People are friendly and the place is clean. A very fun country dance night out! 💃🤠
My gf and i went here and ordered what they call the Mega Platter Which claimed in writing on the menu that it feeds 4 people it had 3 chicken tenders 2 wings (1 leg and one wing) 2 jalapeño poppers 4 fried zucchini 2 Mozilla stics 5 onion rings 5 deep fried mushrroms and about a half order of fries definatly not enough to feed one hungry man more or less 4 people and at $16.00 definitely not worth it.we had to return the first order because it was way over cooked. the drinks are over priced compared to other local bars. my gf and i waited 20 minutes for the cocktail to come over to us instead of going around trying to make money she was sitting with her friends 4 booths down from us i ended up going to the bartender/manager myself to get our drinks. half of the drink we got the security guy ended up getting us. just a pathetic place as far as staffing and food and drink quality and price. the only thing good about this bar is the atmosphere and the dance floor.
Listen, I’m not all that into country dancing. Country music, yes. Line dancing, not so much. But we went here for my best friend’s birthday and had the time of our lives. I love that it’s not a typical dance club where you have to pay $500 to sit at a table and you’re packed like sardines. You can actually DANCE on the dance floor instead of just feeling like you’re in a mosh pit. I still passed on the line dancing, but the chance we had to actually dance with each other was really awesome. The karaoke room was also a blast! And the cocktail selection was massive. We ordered bbq and weren’t disappointed.
This place is a blast, the food is so good, the dancing is so fun & lessons are even FREE.. what...how cool!! I really loved the live music too, definitely a must do again and again
$20 cover, apparently one of only two nights of the year they don’t do active military discount is the night I showed up, why? Do service members stop sacrificing the week of Halloween? Messed up my food order 4 times, on the 4th, I just ate the dry burger. How hard is it to check the order to make sure it’s done correctly, especially if having to send back multiple times. Server was kind about it but it felt really uncomfortable to have to explain that the same mistake was made 3 times. Nothing done for the inconvenience of waiting over 90 minutes for a Burger and having to send it back 3 times. Disappointed.
Very cool club with country theme. They have free line dance and swing dance lessons every week.
We heard great things about this place and decided to meet there with some coworkers for drinks and dancing. Once some of us arrived we went inside to look for our group. Mistakenly, we walked past the group of people in the front of the establishment who were in a line for stamps! We hadn’t realized this until the blonde bartender with the mustache came up to the table and told us. This wouldn’t have been an issue but he was extremely rude and when we apologized, he continued acting extremely rude to us. We then got in line and a short lady security guard was watching us like hawks and we felt extremely uncomfortable being in that establishment. The bartender kept watching us even when my friend told him we were going to leave and we just wanted to tell our group we wouldn’t be staying, he stared at her the entire time she walked there and back (it was honestly disturbing). We left and went to a different bar with the most welcoming environment. I hope you guys have a different approach in the future towards people who have never been there because we really would’ve liked to stay and have a good time.In case someone is looking for the place we ended up going to, Why Kiki was the nicest bar in the area! They welcomed us as soon as we walked in and took great care of us the whole time! The Westerner should take some pointers from their customer service!
I have made so many memories at The Westerner Club. Now, every time I make it back out there, it feels like home. Its the best place in town.
Super fun place, with great music and atmosphere! Fun for all ages. Make sure to check what dance style is on for the day--they are themed for line, country, etc. on different days
So much fun! Open and fun for people from any background. There are tons of fun line dances, couples dances and events. They even have indoor bull riding. The drinks are moderately priced and there is a 10 dollar cover on the weekends. Bring cash to make the process faster. I went here for the first time recently and I already cant wait to come back and experience more of the night life.
Where do I begin. This place is like a second home to me and has been for the 3+ years Ive been coming here. Ive made many friends and was actually taught to swing dance here. The staff are extremely friendly as well! Chris always makes a point to remember my drink and Nate always makes a point to come say hi. Its the only bar I feel safe coming to alone as I know the security is always alert. Always a good vibe and good time. The drinks are fairly priced and the dance floor is always moving! I bring all my friends here, especially for their birthdays! Definitely my go to bar every weekend and will continue to be for a very long time.
These fries though! Fries are delicious. Grilled cheese sandwich was your typical bar food quality. I used plenty of napkins to dry up all the grease. Margarita was decent. Staff was friendly. I love that they have a dance floor dedicated to mainly line dancing. They offer free classes Wednesdays & I cannot wait to go to one of these. Atmosphere was fun. They have a mechanical Bull that was fun to watch. I enjoyed the karaoke room & the Dj in there was really fun!
Great place for fun and to learn how to dance. Good customer service and great hot wings.
Ridiculous wait for food. Three hours for a burger minimum. I didnt even see them taking food to other tables. Why did they bother taking my money? There is absolutely no reason they cant sling burgers out in twenty minutes tops. Should simplify their menu to meet demand or double kitchen capacity.Good atmosphere and prices on drinks, but who cares if you cant hang out for a couple hours without so much as a snack of fries. You cant expect to have people drinking and partying with no food. Such a disappointment when the atmosphere is so fun.Edit for their response: glad to hear there is a plan to improve things! I will confirm that our wait was well beyond an hour and a half (verifiablely close to three hours, with no updates from the kitchen), as was the table next to us. I asked to cancel, and was told this wasnt possible. Maybe the food was ready and the staff wasnt delivering it? Regardless, keep on improving and maybe our experience will be better in the future.
The westerner is so fun! The cover charge is $10/person, but it includes live music, free karaoke, a free mechanical bull and tons of seating! They also give swing/line dancing lessons. Everyone dances and most swing dancing pros are happy to take you for a spin! There is an outdoor patio for smoking, and it’s heated with fire pits and heating lamps with enclosures in the winter. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because the drinks are very sugary. They have a huge menu with really fun-themed names. However, I stick to beer when I go there because I can only have a couple drinks/shots before I’m sugar-ed out. If you like those type of drinks, this is the place for you! Just not my preference.Every time I’ve come here I have a blast, it’s my friends & I’s favor bar in SLC!
I will happily add two stars when they make the following changes:1. Stop the dj from yelling so damn loud! Stop announcing birthdays, weddings, yelling for people to close tabs in the middle of songs, stop yelling at the end of the night for people to leave, etc (end the music a few minutes early to give people a little time to leave without being yelled at)! It sets a hostile tone and hurts ears.2. Freshen the playlist and keep the music going! Dont play the Wobble more than once in a night. Any Man of Mine is from 1994/95. Mix it up with some new stuff each week for Gods sake. Dont play the same songs that the live band just performed. Dont interrupt the music multiple times to announce bdays, etcThey seriously have the worst dj of probably 30 venues Ive danced in.3. Encourage dance etiquette! Two steppers get the outside track, swing and line dancers in the middle, west coast dancers just inside the racetrack.
They would not accept my friends out of country ID. They require a passport - even though the ID scans & clearly shows DOB. Thats the only thing theyd need it for anyway?Havent had her turned away anywhere else.
The Westerner is an okay place to dance to country music. The bartenders are as honest and hard working as the day is long. Security is sufficient, and they keep the tables bussed(a little to well, theyve taken my glass with a swallow of whiskey still in it). The reason they get three stars is for the fact that they play too much pop/hip-hop style of music. Id appreciate more REAL country music. It is after all the westerner, I miss old school honkytonks with a jukebox full of country.
Went here at 10 pm on Saturday to dance, and you could not even find a place to stand, let alone dance. Way way overcrowded. 30 minutes wait to get a beer.I was mostly disappointed that they were NOT playing country music. We listened to the shuffle song twice while there and Ed Sheeran and a few other songs from 97.9.Ridiculously expensive $20 to get in and then $20 for two beers..There are quieter, nicer, and less expensive places to listen to country music and other places that have space on the dance floor.
My date and I had a great playing pool, meeting people, and enjoying the music. The folks that were dancing were awesome. It was my first time at a country club, and now Im a fan.
Service and food is always great and it’s always fun to bring friends to play some pool and chat!
Ordered a Coke, barely any syrup at the right rear bar. Atmosphere was good. Colt .46 were great.Update, 06/09/22We returned for couples swing night dance lessons. Don was an excellent teacher. Ashton was a terrific tender. Our drinks were excellent. The music was better than on the weekend, as the DJ played 4 faster songs and then one love song to slow dance to, a fine system. I must note that love ballads are best to slow dance to. Please play more of these.
Could be more welcoming too minorities and a little bit of air flow would have been nice other then that there was one bar tender that was actually very nice to me and my sisters props too you girly thank you.;)
This place would be a 5 if they paid their AC bill. So much fun and the band was great, but it was honestly way too hot. Had to leave early because I have AC and alcohol at home.
Eugene is awesome. He found out that I left my card when I was Drunk and gave me my card back when I left it on the bar. He definitely needs a raise or a bonus of some kind
It was my first time at Westerner and I loved it. Its very funny, but I was expecting more country music.
Visited here for the first time in awhile last Saturday and place was popping!! Definitely a great place to dance to country music and definietely dont mind the fact they throw in a few non country songs here and there to keep the party going. I liked that the crowd was very chill and just out to have a good time which has for the most part been the case in all my past visits. This place is often times a not bad of a place to meet new people. I also like that have a mechanical bull that you can ride for free which is great. I also like the outside patio area which is a great place to get some air chill around one of the fire pits or for the smokers to have a smoke. I dont mind paying a 5 dollar cover on weekends which I feel is fair as long as the venue is hopping! The only thing I kinda didnt like when I was here last was they were a couple of cops walking around inside when just having a few bouncers to keep the drama at bay. I can see having them cops outside in the parking lot area to discourage fights and violence but having them inside the bar is kinda unessessary. The drink prices were a little on the pricey side when I was here last but not terrible. Other than the very minor drawbacks I still do love this place and will be back again when I come to Utah
Fantastic staff, especially the bouncers & bar tenders. They have good bar food, with more than a normal selection of fried veggie menu options. If you like fry sauce, they have my second favorite of all time. (More dietary accodations would be good though.)Great dancing: line dancing & country swing, are the most popular and they also offer, Westcoast, two-step, & Waltz.Space is incredible! Its open inside and spacious patio with fire pits.(Patio is transitioning with construction.)
Cover charge is at a ridiculous rate. 2 steins will run you about $22 and some change. They advertise for an Oktoberfest weekend, and there will be Das Boot, no where online did I see it was limited. After paying a $15 cover charge per person plus a cc surcharge fee, I find out it was limited and already sold out at 9:30 PM. The bartender asked her manager for us and told theyre out. I see him 10 mins later and he has the boot glasses in his hand. Not worth the headache coming here anymore, I came here expecting a good time.
Food was mediocre at best. Came for the free line dance lessons but they charge a cover to get in. Its only 5 bucks but definitely is a bait and switch. Still an OK time Ill try it again in the future
Honestly wish I could give this place zero stars. The staff here are so incredibly rude and disrespectful to its patrons. They don’t care about anyone’s safety. I would never recommend this place.
I’ve been swing dancing for almost ten years and the westerner is one of my favorite spots to dance of all time. The dance floor is easy to move on, lots of line dances to learn, the bartenders and security are nice and always watching over. So glad I found this spot after moving to Utah :)
Was there other than as a regular patron, that aside, i was impressed with the security staff, bar staff, the band, and the atmosphere. The serv staff seemed to be having not an A day and still represented. Great job yall!! Keep it up!!
I love the westerner i always have fun when i go there. The mechanical bull is AWESOME!. The drinks are high priced compared to other bars and the service isnt that great but its a club/bar so what do expect. The music is always great for dancing and the drinks are good. I havent tried there food but i imagine it wouldnt be to great considering its a bar. So i always eat before i go to the westerner. The bartenders are a little rude but only some of them not all, and the waitresses/waiters forget it youll wait all night for them to come to you. So I always go up to the bar myself and get my own drinks and its always quick. At the end of the day i LOVE the Westerner especially the dance floor. Oh and everything is free in the club except for the drinks and food.
I was lucky enough to spend my evening last night at The Westerner Club and see Garth Brooks. It was an incredible night. Acoustics were perfect and Garth Brooks sounded great. There were a lot of people and I imagined a lot of chaos but the event was well organized and from our perspective went off without a hitch. We ordered food and had pulled pork and brisket along with macaroni and cheese, baked beans and coleslaw. Considering everyone ordering at once, the food took a little while to get, but this place did a wonderful job and the food tasted great.
Been going every week for the last. 5 months fun love to dance large dance floor like how they have free pool, kareoke and mechanical bull a plus. ( But they need to change up the music so many new country artist like charley crockett. Jelly roll and many more if it wasnt for that I would give a 5 star ( we dont need no hip hop rap rave music its called The Westerner country club.
Great place for western line dancing lessons to recorded music early in the evening on their enormous dance floor. Ride the mechanical bull, listen to live music, spend time in the open air patio with multiple fire pits, and park in their huge parking lot. Typical bar food. Remember, a lot of the people here are Cowboys and they do like to fight. We leave by 11:30 p.m.
SOOOOO much fun!!They have ladies night, no cover charge on certain nights so make sure to find out when that is. Love the atmosphere, plenty of fabulous eye candy, good drinks, pool tables and a large dance floor. This place is a blast!!
What a wonderful place. Ive been going most Wednesdays for the past 4 1/2 months and started dancing for the first time in my life. Everyone has been friendly to me and the bartenders refill my water glass multiple times during the night without complaint. This place has made a positive difference in my life :)
Fun and upbeat bar with a mechanical bull and karaoke room. Played a lot of great songs albeit a bit on the loud side for my taste (my ears rang for half an hour after leaving). Staff were wonderfully friendly all while being highly efficient in helping large numbers of patrons. Drinks were priced a touch on the high side but not completely outrageous. The building is massive making it perfect for large groups wanting to have a country night on the town.
My sister’s bachelorette party was here and I can honestly tell you that we will 100% be coming back!!! The staff was so accommodating towards us, the bull riding was so fun and the karaoke was an absolute blast!!! Thank you so much to Nate, Red, Ashton, DJ MCK and Mr Thompson for helping us have such an incredible night!!
This is definitely one of my favorite places to dance Wednesday nights! However, Friday is hit or miss. I love how there is a live band which can add a whole different atmosphere! But the MC is so loud it can ruin that atmosphere. He also has the same tag lines every week. This can ruin a good song in the middle or sometimes it can become a disruption all night long...Another thing about Fridays that make the night hard is the amount of birthday celebrations (which can be 10+ a night). I do understand wanting to celebrate your birthday at such an awesome place, but does it really need to take 5 min to find and recognize them? Cant we just do one big recognition thing where we recognize everyone celebrating? Its so loud and it takes away from the dancing and the rhythm of the place...Also the amount of line dances makes it hard for those of us who want to dance. I get to dance one song, then wait through 4 line dances before I get to dance again. I get that it seems trivial, but when this is your way to relax at the end of the rough week... Its just one more frustration in a place that shouldnt feel that way.
This place is the best, the bouncers/ security guards are always so nice when I walk in, I love the mechanical bull ride (make sure you leave the operator a tip, it’ll be the most fun that way) the bartenders are always helpful and give amazing drink suggestions. The fire pits outside are nice and keep you warm if it’s chilly, I’ve never had a bad experience here and I’ve been coming back whenever I can for YEARS. Best place in slc for a fun night out ❤️
Went to Garth Brooks and I could only see his head here and there. The unfortunate part of seeing big name concerts at the Westerner is that people are allowed to stand up in front of the stage and it prevents others from seeing the show. I have been to, two concerts now and it is the same result. I think it would be better if the Westerner would have the fans remain seated through the concert so that everyone there can enjoy the show. On a positive note, It is a great place for a night out dancing.
Great atmosphere to drink, listen to music and hang out. The band is never insanely loud and the music is plenty loud without having to screen over the music. They do reservations and that is the best way to go, if you want a table for your group. They teach line dancing which is a good way to get involved.
Loved Red.... wish he was still there! Great dance floor and fun environment. Bar can be packed but if you sneak to the back bars you can get drinks wicked fast! Always a place I can take my out of town friends to and feel more like home!
I am a business man, and I have run many businesses. All I have to say is that the unprofessionalism in how you run your establishment is beyond sad. No amount of renovations can compensate for your lack of leadership and professionalism.Tried you once, and I won’t be going back—ever. Word of wisdom, which you mister won’t listen to, don’t alienate people that want to use your establishment. Scale your business by developing relationships—not rejecting revenue opportunities. Have a nice day…
Doesn’t accept digital ID, still living in 2010
It was a great atmosphere for how little people there were there on a Thursday night though another patron had been harassing me and another young woman as well, when the issue was brought up with the bartender we were told hes always pushy its okay when this patron NEEDED to be either talked to by staff or kicked out possibly. Wont be going back honestly
We went for the dancing, but it was more of a bar than anything. Which was fine, each to their own. The drinks were great, the food was great. It was just loud, crowded and full of people who were too drunk. Still had a good time with friends.
Had a great night here. I’m from California and reminded me of one of my favorite clubs there to visit called the Saddle Rack. Was very refreshing to find a place like this in Utah. The guy behind the counter, Logan i think, was super nice as well. Will definitely visit again when I’m in the area.
LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!! By far the biggest, nicest, cleanest, and most crazy fun bar and dance club in Utah! The bartenders are friendly, fast and knowledgeable. The dance floor huge and the food is awesome. I have no complaints about this place!!!
We walked in, the mechanical bull was in full swing, dance floor was packed, the band Colt 46 was sounding awesome. Only bad thing is no Dance Floor etiquette which is typical of authentic Country bars. The dance floor was a free for all, actually a little dangerous with dancers being flung around in the air. As a result we left earlier than planned.
Dance lessons are great! Fun and great instructors!
Pretty cool country bar for someone who hasnt really gone to many... Was brought here for a bday party when I was feeling a lil too lowkey for the environment.I am a huge fan of bar activities, so the fact that they have free bull rides, karaoke where you actually have a chance of singing within an hour, a huge dance floor and live music really upped this bars game. I like how big this place is so youre not bumping into chicks running around in daisy dukes. 360 bar as well! Cover charge of $5 on a Saturday I believe. The only bummer for me is that I could not get myself to do any of these activities. Everyone on the dance floor was like choreographed, and I am not well-versed in that style. I just could not make myself go out there, especially since the lights were up. The karaoke room was pretty divey which is fine with me, but every single person sang a county song. I checked their extensive list, and it was pretty much a giant country song list I was not familiar with. I love to sing, but I couldnt bring myself to do it in this country crowd. I felt like people would just boo me off the stage if it wasnt something they wanted to hear. Note: my friend WAS booed off stage awhile ago apparently.I would definitely come back but I would have to have more drinks in me to partake.
Fun bar if you like to country dance. Normally pretty crowded. Would have given more stars but the request for a tip while paying the cover charge just to get in is absolutely ridiculous!
Good bar, good friends, fun dancing, great staff!
I will never attend this establishment again and will warn others not to go. Our food took almost an hour and a half, we ordered one plate of cheese fries. When the food arrived it was terrible quality. I can make better cheese fries in my kitchen for half the cost. The worst part was the bartender. Ive never experienced such rude and unproffesional service before. The red head bartender completely ignored me for 20 minutes as I was standing there. She also took our drinks away and said something about bossing her around. We simply asked for an order of beer, Im still very unsure how we had offended her. I did my best to apologize for whatever miscommunication happened. At which point she dumped our drinks and ignored me for ten more minutes. Eventually when she decided to acknowledge my existence I reordered my beer without a problem. They really need to evaluate their staff and their proffesionalism. I strongly suggest going to different establishment.
Was there with a friend and had the worst experience ever with a staff being rude to us because most probably we were immigrants. Asked for the manager and he was as rude as girl. We ended up leaving the place. First time there everyone was taking so good about this place but I felt really discriminated and even humiliated! Not nice !
Its one of my favorite places! There are people of all ages and backgrounds all coming around to dance. Its a laid back atmosphere and so much fun if you can get into the dancing! For those who dont like dancing, sit back and enjoy a drink and the country music, or watch people make fools of themselves on the mechanical bull, or do it yourself! Love that place.
Very fun atmosphere and plenty of restrooms throughout the bar. Karaoke room was full of singers, dance floor full of dancers, mechanical bull and an outdoor patio with corn hole game and fire pits as well.
Clean, large dance floor! Lots of seating. Great dance instructor. Great d.j., staff, good food and drinks. Live band good but...not best. We were visiting from Ohio and were delighted to find this venue for dancing!
There should be no cover charge when there’s not a band. Only one bar tender on a Thursdays .The mechanical bull was not operating when I was there. There was no DJ to be able to request music. The bartender Chris needs to take some customer relation and customer service classes. Chris acts put out to do his job and makes you feel like you are inconveniencing him, he keeps your changes as a tip instead of giving it to you and letting you decide on if you want to tip him. Not a good experience.
The staff is rude, the sound man is awful. A fantastic band made to sound horrible. False reports of no cover for women on Fridays,I went on a Friday and $5 cover for all. This place at one time was very fun but it has lost all it worked so hard to gain after getting rid of the horrible reputation it once had.Not quite sure what Jason the owner is thinking but this place is getting worse not better.
I will never step foot in the establishment ever again. I paid nearly $17.00 for a plate of nachos. The price of nachos didnt bug me until, it took almost two hours for the staff to get my order to me. I dont care how many people are there, it doesnt take two hours to get a plate of nachos out of the kitchen. Its a teaser on their menu... Should I have gotten a refund? Absolutely, but I figured I would give it a chance.
So this place in my opinion is the best entertainment value in the State. On the weekends there is a live band and a wide range of country music that is played in between the band’s sets. On Wednesdays cover is free and in addition to that you get free swing lessons. There is a pretty even split between line dances and couples’ swing dances. Staff is very nice and friendly as long as you don’t cause trouble. They are quick to react to any situation that could become dangerous, so one feels safe and at ease to have a fun time here. The patrons are, as a rule, good and decent people, although like everywhere there is A to Z so keep that in mind. The place has an authentic country bar vibe to it. If you like to drink there is a wide variety of beverages and mixed drinks available. If you don’t like to drink there s never any pressure to drink, and you never feel like it’s just a place full of drunks. They have cool fire pits outside on the patio where there are often a lot of smokers on the weekends. Good if you’re a smoker, less good if you don’t smoke. They have a large selection of food items and although I haven’t eaten anything there yet the food always looks freshly prepared to order with more than generous portions.I originally meant to complain about the recent Halloween party costume contest going too long which cut out the band’s last set (the band, “Fox Brothers” was really great, super fun, and unbelievably energetic) but I then realized how much fun I have at this place and to be fair had to include all of my impressions about the Westerner and it’s an easy 5 stars despite little annoyances every once in a while. Well done owners-managers-and STAFF!!!
Didn’t go here by choice, but ended up having a really good time. Place must’ve been upgraded recently, plenty of space, outside patio, dance floor. I’d recommend a night out here. Attentive bartenders, too.
I for one have not been to this bar as a patron on the weekend, however I do work here so I can personally say that the staff I mainly work with or around are great at what they do. What do they do you might ask...Ill tell you, theyre definitely willing to provide excellent customer service and are willing to accommodate any reasonable request. Management is very respectful and Security for the most part is, well Security. We try to make everyone that comes through our doors happy to the best of Our ability. So a Big Shout Out to the owner Jason, Rachel and James for providing a great place to come and wind down after a Long Stressful week. The Westerner Club, even though Im working, is still my way of winding down from a Stressful week and is the Highlight of my weekends. I actually look forward to coming and working here, I get to meet all sorts of people, if anybody is looking for a Fun, Wild Atmosphere to help them relax and forget about their worries for a while, This Is The Place To Be!
The Westerner is a fun bar, but there is a lot more to do here then just drink. The main appeal is the country dancing floor and most of the people at the bar will get into it. Im a terrible line dancer but I still have fun going with friends! There is a mechanical bull and pool if the dancing isnt your thing. The only problem is that its pretty far from down town. I still would stop by if you havent before.
We always have such a great time at the W! The best country dancing memories that we have include the Westerner. What I think we like best is that you can always find happy friendly people and anyone is welcome and feels welcome. We have made great friends with people that we have met there. The dance floor is amazing probably one of the greatest I have ever stepped foot on.. Ive had the opportunity to visit many places in the South Texas, Oklahoma, etc. and visited Country bars and dance clubs, the Westerner is right inline with those clubs. We meet people all the time while traveling and when we say we are from Utah they always rave about the Westerner. Plenty of room and great music and sound a great little slice of country heaven right here in Utah! Thanks for all the great memories!
This is the absolute best bar in Utah! If Im in town, Im here... closest thing to Texas that Utah has to offer! Teresa, Odie, and Chris are some of the friendliest employees there! Keep up the great work!
Health department needs a review of this place. I was in there on Saturday 1-13. Ordered a burger from the bar. Sat there and watched it sit on the side counter for 30 minutes before I went and asked for the 3rd time if my food was ready. Finally gave me the food ice cold with nothing more than a shrug of the shoulders. Decided to give them another chance an hour later. After an hour and fifteen minutes of still not having the food that I ordered. We asked the waitress where our food was. She came up with some bogus excuse about us not being there when they brought it by. (someone was at our table the entire time we were there). She finally came and threw the food down in front of me. I told her that since it was so late I didnt even want the food any more (even though I paid for it an hour and a half earlier) once again a shrug of the shoulders and off she went. This is a place I will never go again. Customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. In my mind they could have flipped me off and it wouldnt have been any different than the way they dismissed my concerns. 1 star seems too high.
The envroment is fun to hang out with friends. However there servers and food department are lacking. The wait staff do not know their own menus and do not care to drinks and food alike. We had a trainee and an experianced waitress waiting on our table. The experianced waitress charged me for $30 worth of food when there was another item on the menuthat had everything i wanted plus extra things i didnt want for $15. So instead of charging me for the item and eliminating the items i didnt want. She charged me for every single item individually. I was only ordering for one person. I ended up canceling the order and getting a refund because when She took my card she said it would be $8. The manager never even came to talk to me. Even when the waitress had to talk to them to refund me.
Tonight for the costume party, I was extremely disappointed by the staff. We usually enjoy the Westerner but the staff in charge was extremely rude. They wouldnt give us straight answers on why they didnt do the contest (which they advertised and had a sign up sheet for) then proceeded to lie to us for almost an hour! This left a serious bitter taste in my mouth. The bartenders were wonderful as always but the event staff/security team/DJs were extremely rude and unhelpful.
Okay so just a little tid bit of info for yall, I come from Georgia where a place like this is hard to come by. If you are coming for hip hop music you can grind on someone to, dont come here you will get dirty looks from regulars. Yes it says club but this is not area 51 yall this is a place of country music and line dancing not some rap club. Love the bands and the atmosphere of staff and servers and security is chill. DJ is the most awesome guy. And the owner I have yet to meet but would love to one day to chat over a few drinks on me.
Im not a country swing dancer, but I had a lot of fun. I went there for the first time about a week ago and ladies were very friendly and so was everyone else. I even got to dance (although I didnt know what I had gotten myself into 🙈) What I mean is, Id recommend it. Id go again. This place has a huge dance floor. And they sell my favourite cider, so thats a plus. Going back this weekend, hopefully...
Being a bartender and manager for 15 years I was shocked to see the customer service that this bar provides. The feeling is that they let 15 year old kids deal with complaints with no professional answers to be given. Bartenders are allowed to be rude to customers with the attitude that they are better than the people that they serve. This bar will continue to step over dollars to pick up dimes as their attitude continues. They have the capacity to make 10 fold if they would be professional and stop covering for the persons that do not belong in the industry. Example is James the manager I dealt with on the night of 3/16/17. I will never visit this bar again due to the actions of the staff this night
Food prices are ridiculous. You can get better food from a real restaurant anywhere in the city. As far as bar food these were decorated 7-11 nachos. Prices for this quality of bar food is very disappointing. I will spread the word and never be back.A friend just came back to the table and said, it smells like black mold in the bathroom.
The most unforgiving place in utah. My boyfriend and I went there to meet up with my family for the new year. We drove 2 hours to meet them and celebrate as we dont see each other much. My boyfriend only had his ID and they wanted his passport (He doesnt keep that with him at all times). We have never been asked this at any other place. He is 28 years old and they wouldnt let him in. So thank you Westerner for wasting my time, gas and energy. Never going back.
Place used to have great couples dancing. Its turned into 85% line dances. The regulars who used to show up are pretty unhappy.
Ive been to a few country dance bars in AZ, CO, UT, etc and have found the Westerner to be lacking in a few areas that could be easily improved:*Their dance floor is glossed as opposed to powdered or dusted for sliding boots*Their DJ announcer sounds like a complete douche as he yells at ear drum rupturing levels during the middle of songs for people to close tabs and at the end of the night to chase people out. I seriously hate that guy and would increase one or two stars if he were gone. Thanks for coming out and thanks for GOING HOME... what a dick!*Security immediately begins yelling in rude tones at people to clear out at the end of the night, something I have not experienced elsewhere.*Security takes their sweet time checking i.d.s. which results in waiting lines out in the cold. Seems like they could add another i.d. check person fri and sat nights to hustle it up a bit.*A lack of air circulation causes dancers to overheat. Possibly a tactic to motive people to buy drinks?*The wobble and other line dance songs are repeated in the same night. Booty dance songs are played the last hour of the night and dancing gets pretty trashy
So lets start a few weeks ago. I on my bike and the weather was chilly so I was wearing my leathers and have patches from places I visited. That night I was asked to pull my chaps up high enough to see the tops of my boot. So I did and was asked if the patches were club related and they arent and the gal at the door cleared it and let me wear it inside the bar only to have security approach me and ask me to turn it inside out. I left instead of stripping. Then last night I went in there just to see and wasnt wearing my leathers and wasnt asked to pull my pants up to see the top of my boots and my cousin was wearing his leather riding vest and wasnt asked to remove it. Bikers beware.
I loved this place until about two weeks ago and one incident makes me question everything. This place offers free entry for military card holders. It is not really advertised but a couple years ago the door person told me. Two weeks ago I was stopped because I only had a spousal military ID card (That is not really a thing) But whatever... I clarified with James, the Customer Service Rep that night and he let me in for free as usual. I then messaged the owner (Jason) on facebook about that incident. He seemed very apologetic, respectful and kind. He promised me that it wont happen again and his club offers free entry for military ID card holders. Last week I went back again and entered the other line for payment because I did not want to be embarrassed or stopped again and again I was told that I dont have the privilege because I am a military spouse. I was embarrassed and I told the guy about the conversation I had with Jason. He then called someone and Tim another customer rep came out and gave me the thumbs up for free entry. I went again on facebook and advised the owner Jason that it happen again. He disputed the time it took from me entering the club to getting in the club. But that wasnt really my concern. My concern was that I was stopped again, that I was embarrassed, that I had to ask again and that other military ID card holder may show ID and still have to pay because they dont push back like me. Jason was not nice in the second conversation on facebook practically told me that I cant be feeling like that, it didnt take long, and he doesnt need my business. He failed to acknowledge that he told me it wont happen again, he told me that the club is free to military ID card holders and that I was only asking for clarification because some establishments are only free or discounted for active duty military ID card holder. So I guess I dont need to go there anymore. I was more shocked how mean Jason got from one week to another only because I reported it again. In the mean time I had great relationship with some of the waitresses even after they quit. Country Music isnt really my thing but I love the dancing and I love watching the gifted dancers in there. I really liked Kaleb Austin as the band but he doesnt play anymore. I love that the place has so much room. That there is an acceptance in there for everyone and that I can learn there. But I was clearly instructed that my business is not welcome anymore and its too far anyway
I had such a fun time the last time I was here! The mechanical bull is my absolute favorite! Won $200 in the bikini bull riding contest too!! Staff is always friendly and the patio fire pits are awesome in the winter. This place is hands down my favorite country bar!
Huge place, lots of western types, fun upbeat music (western and some older pop hits), monster dance floor for all kinds of dancing (line, couples, singles) people def let thier flags fly here. Bars are all over the place (one in each of the four corners) but none are connected to each other, so you have to bring your card from bar to bar or keep visiting the same one if you are doing a tab. plenty of places to sit and cool down or just people watch (which is excellent) - good parking out back too, may have to walk 100 yards though - overall a very fun time, not your normal bar type place, one of they few in the SLC area that promotes dancing activley.
Security need to chill. Paid entrance fee, went to my car to grab a portable charger, came back inside and security want to kick me out. Didn’t acknowledge stamp, and didn’t want to hear it. Did not acknowledge our stamp, and did not ask about it. Chill bro, no need to be like that.
So, use to love the westerner club until 12/21/2019. We would come with our mother who is from England for birthdays, parties and even my bachelorette party in October 2017. Came that day, got to the door and ready to scan our IDs to go in until mother pulled out her federally issued perminate residence green card and was turned down because they dont take that as a certified ID. This card can buy a house, get liquor from the liquor store, open loans and yet it has never been allowed at the Westerner. When we stated they allowed it before we were told they shouldnt have. So everywhere else will take it but not Westerner when they use to, oh wait but they shouldnt. If the owner reads these I would love an answer and maybe one from a government official? If its not allowed then maybe lisce needs to look into the employees that let her in before. She also looks and is over 35 which is why another bar we went to because we were barred from here, they accepted us.
I went to this bar for my birthday and gave them TWO DIFFERENT FORMS OF ID and they still accused me of having a fake rather than just having someone scan/run my information. Im so annoyed and will NEVER be back. Id never recommended this bar to anyone.
I LOVE The Westerner. Kirk is my favorite teacher. The people here are so friendly and fun to be around. Bartenders are friendly. My favorite menu items jalapeno poppers and club sandwich with sweet potato fries. Local bands on Friday and Saturday.
Enjoyable for the atmosphere, karaoke, mechanical bull, and bar
5 bucks to get in 6 if you pay cash. Girls no cover on fridays. Great atmosphere. Food inexpensive. Free mechanic bull. I dont like country music but if you do youd live this place
The karaoke room in the place to be, Captain Black Beard will be back. 🤠😤
I have read all the reviews. I find it very interesting that people either love the Westerner, or they seem to hate it. Not much in the middle. I cannot say for sure, but those who hate it very likely had an experience one time that they just had to tell others how bad it was. That is what people do. If they hate something or have a bad experience they tell everybody about it. Human nature. As for me, I have had good experiences at the Westerner. Everyone has his / her own opinion. Many people walk into a place with a chip on their shoulder already. (IMO)
Your bouncer last night was very hostile! Didnt ask me or my friends about the table situation instead we were accused of taking another patrons table. First we were seated there by your waitress who assured us the bouncer and your manager that the table was free and cleared of anyone sitting there and reserved. Rather then taking care of the problems among your staffs miscommunication behind closed doors you choose to involved your paying patrons and treated us as if we are there begging and that we are criminals. Ive never feel so mistreated by any business staff let alone the establishments manager.I will never go back for this mistreatment. Remember who keeps you in business. You will not last long if you think you are right in thinking how you handled last nights situation. I will spread my disappointment and my mistreatment by your staff through out the social media and anyone that i come across.
What a mess! More than two hours for an order of cheese fries and a server who disappeared when asked about it. We asked her for a manager and she never got him, About 20 minutes later, we asked security for the manager and he was promptly out. No apology, no comp, no bacon, no ranch as advertised. Poor experienc.
Such a fun place!! The bartender was totally accommodating to mix nonalcoholic drinks. There were a variety of fun things to do- dancing, karaoke, and the mechanical bull is included!
Nice little bar. Plays mostly country songs. Excellent dance floor though it is not a typical country dance floor. They have firepits outside. Good service, good prices. And of course a mechanical bull.
Horrible customer service! requested everybody to leave prior to what they stated their closing time was! A last call was at 1:30 a.m. started kicking people out at 1:45 a.m. security was rude bartenders were rude I would not recommend coming back here! Nothing but rude staff and horrible horrible customer service. This is coming from somebody whos worked in the bar industry managed bars and waited in bars cocktail service and all. never ever patronize this place again. Horrible horrible cu!!stomer service! Seriously disappointed!
Had the most fun here tonight! The band was amazing! Great dance floor, free line dancing. The staff is friendly and makes a great adult beverage!
Fun country western night clud. Big dance floor, multiple bars, mechanical bull riding. Serve yourself because waitresses arent intrested and their on the rude side. Good tapas but expect to wait for the food. Fun place , will return.
Any time I go to the westerner its a fun time. You can ride the bull, dance, play pool, or sing karaoke. Get a group of your friends and have a good time.
The bartender recharge was such an amazing event. They had an amazing buffet and activities available!
Super fun place if you like live music and dancing. Riding the mechanical bull is a blast. Fun and friendly staff. Love that they have free dance lessons during the week!
Big shout out to Holly for making me feel welcome and safe. I had a great time knowing that there was more than just line dancing tonight.
Went out looking to have a good time, when my fiance and I arrived at this bar/night club we walked in the door and the person at the counter just stared at us, I nodded as I walked by. Some ridiculously rude woman came running from the door behind the counter pointing in our faces GET THEIR IDS. Forgive me, but if your doorman doesnt at least acknowledge that I am a customer, I cant assume you want to see anything from me. As we pulled out our IDs the guy at the counter mumbled something under his breath, when I said excuse me? he said DO YOU HAVE ANY OUTSIDE ALCOHOL OR KNIVES! with the rudest tone Ive ever heard from a door-man. When I politely said No we took our IDs and began to walk inside. That is when the woman came back WOAH, WOAH $5 each!. At this point I am done. I am not going to pay $10 for two people to enter into to 1/8 full night club so that I can spend more money at the bar while the entire establishment seems to be run by assholes.I remember looking at my fiance as we were leaving and joking that I wish there were Mormons who owned bars because at least they would be polite and thank us for our business.TL;DRThe two employees I encountered were complete asses and I wouldnt return if it was the last bar in SLC.
Fun place, good dancing. Just wished there was a bit more A/C. It got really warm in there. Stars off are mainly because of the incredibly rude bartender.
Buyer beware!!!!! as a avid whiskey drinker this place waters down their shots. when we mentioned it and our waitress she seemed to know something about. A few people in our group noticed the same thing. Whether it be condensation in the line or purposely ripping off customers not sure, but it youre looking for a whiskey and water for $6 bucks a pop this is your place. Very disappointing!!!!
Great place to go line dancing. Instruction in line and swing dancing available most nights before 7pm. Affordable drinks, karaoke, pool, and bull riding along with some good food make this an all around great hangout.
** Please, for the love of God, stop the regular DJ from yelling!!Great place to dance Wed nights because:- The music is setup for social dancing with a good mix of fast, moderate, & slow country, cha cha, west coast, two step, etc songs- Line dancing is kept to a minimum, approx 6 social dance songs to 2 line dance songs- The DJ is not there on Wed to yell over the sound system absurdly loud in his hostile toneI WONT PATRON THE WESTERNER ANYMORE FRIS OR SATS UNTIL THEY CHANGE THE FOLLOWING:** Please, for the love of God, stop the regular DJ from yelling!! Whether its to introduce the band, close tabs, announce birthdays, or rush everyone out at the end of the night - its all done with a raspy, overly loud, hostile tone. Why would any business want this tone for their establishment?? And like someone else stated in a review, the DJs tag lines get old fast. I would bump this up two stars if they reign in or get rid of the Fri/Sat DJ- I get that the wobble is played by request but please only play it once or twice - not several times in a night- Songs that the band plays are then replayed by the DJ - add in the wobble several times and it all starts sounding the same- Line dances can be fun and bring people to the floor, but more than two line dances in a row kill the mood and flow for the rest that like to partner dance- Stopping the music (and dancing) for one birthday after another so that the DJ can scream at all of us ruins the night fast. Just make one announcement for all birthdays!!
The DJ is awful at best. He plays the same set of music every night and hasn’t changed for the past few years. An update on the music selection would be great. His voice is incredibly annoying and super rough.
Good food and fun place if you like watching people line dance!
Great place! Has line dancing classes, line dancing, freestyle dancing, live band, karaoke, multiple bars, outdoor patio and bull riding. Its temporarily closed right now (per the website) until 7/8/20 for remodeling.
I think this place has a really cool environment, but food was expensive and not the best. Drinks felt extremely weak. I would go here for the experience, and nothing else.
Great beer selection, karaoke room is open every night of the week and they have a live band on the weekend. Free bull riding was a fun way to pass time.
Fun karaoke room, mechanical bull, live bands. Good overall atmosphere, however, I wish they had a night of line dancing, then a top 40 dj after like 10pm.
This place was so much fun! We’re from out of town and stopped by for the Bull riding and left learning how to line dance.
Westerner is a great place to go Wednesday nights for lesson and dancing! Glad they do that! Nice venue, yet to conquer the bull lol, Its a blast!
Had a great time tonight, even through baby sitting, the band colt .46 , the bartenders specifically the red headed cool calm one, the food waitress, ect was great, not bad for a couple of Oklahoma boys passing through.
I love me some honkey tonk. I had an awesome time in my pink cowgirl hat and me and my friends had a good ol fashioned ho down. It was like i stepped into a time machine and went back to the old west. Best western nightclub ever!
Good place to dance have fun and enjoy with friends. The drinks are in the middle cost, you need to pay 5 buck to get in.
The bartender that was originally supposed to take my order kept overlooking me & taking everyone elses order when she seen a card in my hand she told me the bars card reader was down so cash only but on the other side of the same serving area the tenders were taking cash AND card payments so my opinion is stay away from twiggy blond bar tenders if you go here becuz shesnot customer friendly, lies so she doesnt have to do her job & waits on only customers she wants to choose....
I am Hispanic from Guatemala and Ive been at the Westerner a couple of times I love this place great service great music. Big and clean dance floor I definitely going back I am interested on learning how to dance country music. Cheers 🍻
Super fun atmosphere but DO NOT EAT HERE. We waited for over TWO HOURS for food … when they told us 30 minutes , then after complaining said an 1.5 hours … finally at two hours we got our food
Inexpensive, safe and fun. Great for a date or an outing with friends. My favorite spot is the karaoke room on a Friday or Wednesday night. Thanks!
Please Rotate todays country music with the old stuff like Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, etc. I don’t mind new country, but hearing it song after song gets old.
Weekend bands are taken over by a DJ. Disappointed for sure. Colt.46 awesome.... DJ not so good. If you come to see live music you will be disappointed.
Live band was great. Plenty of space on the massive dance floor, even on a busy Saturday night
Fun place to meet with friends. Dont go dancing bunch and theres the rona. So if I go back eventually and its way not awesome Ill up my review! 😁
I dropped my phone and somebody (possibly security) was genuine enough to return it to the front. People are GOOOOD! Come here. People and staff are GREAT!
We came in, started a tab with a lady and a man in a pink tank top said he wouldn’t take our drink order because he didn’t start our tab
Came in on 2-11-2017 for my valentines day with my husband and the waitresses have served ever one around us at other tables but not one ever botherd to serve us at our table sat for over two hrs waiting to place an order with a waitress so i could order a basket of onion rings with my drink and still at almost 9pm after we complained still no one has arrived to the table we are sitting at. Even stopped another waitress and still no waitress to the table........ forced to go to the bar for the drinks... when normally we do not need too... in the past all the waitresses come to our table...tonight we even complained and no one did a damn thing but say sure and walk away... RUDE PEOPLE INDEED WORKING HERE NOW
Normal cover charge, they add a dollar to your credit card. Normal bar service. They can make any drink with their wonderful bartenders.
Had a blast when I was in Utah and went dancing at the Westerner. Loved the huge dance floor and machanical bull. The DJ was great. Played a good mix of line dances with country and pop songs.
All I can say is it is one of the best country clubs Ive been to. Karaoke room on Friday and Saturday, not sure if other nights. Line dancing too!
It’s great for dancing bad for drinking. But what do I know - I stopped drinking :) had a good time in classes and high quality music LIVE
The staff was amazing, food was good . The music was awful. Didn’t hear a classic line dance or country song all night. Somewhat disappointing.
I love coming here with friends to dance. The floor is waxed well so you can spin with ease. Drinks are generally good too.
Fantastic bar, great food, staff is super friendly and love the environment with everyone like a giant melting pot of AWESOME!!!
Been here almost an hour, cant even get a menu and had to go to Bar for drinks, only thing i can say good is the music. Wont waste my time here agian.
Mardi gra night was a joke they told my friend her mardi gra mask had to go back to the car... our group was the only thing mardi gra there this place sucks and is ran down... the sign out front was even burnt out... at night the place is called the good luck ordering food I finally had to wave the menu spastically in the air, staff up front are super unfriendly
Bar tenders are rude and made my wifes birthday horrible by their smart ass remarks and no we didnt ask for free drinks just wanted them to remake a drink that was wrong. Worst bar experience ever.
Entire staff is amazing! Love all the dancing! This is a great spot, it does get crowded on the weekends but its awesome!
Love this place! Great place to get a drink, people watch, and dance. Live bands arent always the greatest but its a live band.
Awesome place to go.. great music, awesome staff and fun Karaoke your room . I will go every time Im in Utah.
Had a really good time definitely could use more pool tables instead of all the seating or darts etc

Love everything about this place from the staff to the atmosphere. I’ve been coming here for years and it just gets better. I can always count on great service and an even better night!
Me and my wife wanted to go for a night out we chose the Westerner we spent $130 dollars tipped the waitress $20 dollars one of the security guards in charge was very rude my wife was out front because she didnt have her high heels on that hurt her feet I was out back minding my own business not causing any problems with anyone he came out with the west valley city police told me my wife said I had her shoes I couldnt hear that good and told him I didnt have her shoes he also lied and said she was out side puking she wasnt next thing I noticed Im being forced in handcuffs for no reason went to jail for criminal trespass public intoxication and resiting arrests when I didnt cause any problems I was stereo typed and will never recommend this place to anyone how do you get public intoxication at a bar that you spent $130 at and get criminal trespass for paying a door fee I didnt cause any problems thank you Westerner for the welcome
Thursday night dancing is a blast. The teachers are great and will help you out if you are struggling. Best of all, its free!
Worst bar service I’ve ever experienced. Was there for over 2 hours and was served 1 drink. Terrible atmosphere and experience.
Dancing, kareoke, mechanical bull, live music, pool. What more could you want? Awesome staff, especially Taylor, and Chris.
Been here multiple times and requested a song and never once was it played. Also, they dont play real country music here
Love this place. Free pool. Atmosphere is awesome. Alcohol is great. Cant say enough about this place.
Always a great time at the Westerner. Pool, dancing, and a great staff! Don’t forget solid bar food.
This place was a blast! I also left my id and Bank Card and the management promptly got my cards in the mail back to me!
The DJ isn’t the greatest on line dancing night. They choose a bunch of flow songs. It’s a shame for those that want to promote it. I wouldn’t recommend
The food, staff and facility are decent! There are lots of boots. But most important! There is a mechanical bull.
The dance floor is a good size, and the dance instructions are good as is the music and the bands. Looking for a good night out? Head to the Westerner Club.
They tried to keep my ID and debit card after paying the tab and had me thrown out and put in jail for calling them out horrible place Ill never ever go there again to add to
This place is dark, dingy and dirty. Its so yesterday. I do not recommend ever! I would give this place zero stars if i could.
Ive been a farely regular customer here since I turned 21 and I can say it has always been a blast everytime Ive gone in.
Great country bar on a friday night. If youre looking for country dancing and a genuine country bar this is the only place to go.
Always a good time. Fun to dance at although for conversation, it is extremely loud. Still lots of fun
The Westerner definitely waters down their alcohol. BEWARE, stick to beer. So disappointed…
I love the Line Dancing Classes on Wednesdays with Leanne! its great for beginners and intermediate dancers.
Slow service and watered down drinks. Not worth it. Also not looking for a response or comment from the Owner so please dont. I will not be returning.
Was absolutely a great time reminding me of my hometown bar just bigger!
Its a country themed bar, without absolutely no country music. The Westerner isnt the same.
Best bar in Utah hands down! Good food great service very friendly atmosphere.
