Sidewinders Bar and Grill

Usually one of my favorite places to go, but unfortunately had a really bad experience tonight. The bartenders were both so rude to me every time I tried to order. When I tried to order one final round I was ignored for several minutes while the bartenders both poured themselves shots. Finally one of them approached me and said “there’s water over there” and when I tried to order he repeated himself and refused to let me order despite me only having had 2 drinks over the course of 2 hours and not being drunk at all. I understand if there’s a drink limit or something but that was never communicated to me, and being ignored for several minutes and being talked to so rudely like I was a nuisance felt humiliating in a space i normally feel safe in. I’m really wary to go back because their attitudes really ruined my night.

EDIT: Upon speaking with some regulars, I have decided to be a bit more specific with my review.The place itself is alright. Its not my cup of tea, but thats OK. I was told by a patron that there was favoritism based on sexual orientation (I was told that the bartender I was trying to get assistance from preferred conversing with gay men instead of gay/bi women) but in retrospect that was untrue, as this bartender was incredibly nice and pleasant to me.The crux of my problem comes from a certain Karaoke Jockey, whom I believe is named Simone. This KJ would only respond to patrons that tipped them, as opposed to the other KJ (whose name Im unsure of), and would deliberately push anyone who didnt tip them to the back of the karaoke queue, regardless of how long they had been waiting to sing. I witnessed this firsthand when I saw that the person who signed up before me was next up on the queue, but I did not show up anywhere, and I know that people who signed up after me sang (sometimes 2 or 3 songs) before I could.I will definitely not be coming back as long as this KJ is running karaoke. In addition, I do not appreciate being told that I am dangering an LGBTQIA+ bar for venting my frustrations. This bar could be gay, straight, or solely for women, and I would still have the same complaints if I had a night like I did. I much prefer the Albuquerque Social Club, and I will be taking my business there from now on.

This place is not disability inclusive, I am epileptic and generally avoid the inside as much as possible, but I had a small seizure here due to them playing different songs out of two speakers and I was screamed at by the staff because of my condition. They pushed me and my husband off property when he tried to explain I was not drunk, but having a medical episode. Very disappointed, very upset. You can come here queer, but not queer and disabled.

Had a late lunch, so it was not very busy. Its my first time here. I ordered the Yakitori Chicken and it was very good. Ill have to return and try more off their menu. Thank you for an enjoyable experience.

Visited as had seen they had food on google that wasnt just spicy food as the husband wont eat if not plain. Wanted to eat on route 66 as well. To be fair I did not realise exactly the market of the bar before we got there but we were made welcome and it was the first time either of us have had our IDs checked in a very long time :D , the barmaid was an absolute delight and sorted me out with an awesome margarita and some terrific fish tacos. We enjoyed some karaoke while we ate on the patio. Shame we were so tired from travelling or I would have stayed for more margaritas. Thanks for your hospitality!

Its 7:00 Friday April 26th! And the DJ?. has a great Mix of Music HOWEVER HES BLASTING IT So Loud ..NOBODY can TALK to the person IN FRONT of Them!!! YOU arent the Show!!.. Great Music. Music in the BACK GROUND..TONE IT DOWN 12 NOTCHES... Were trying to MEET people and Mingle!! I Grew up with BEST....Hollywood Ed Higgins...how do you judge?..Stand IN FRONT OF YOUR SPEAKERS!! EVERYBODYS LEAVING!! YOU made Every body LEAVE!! 7:46 EMPTY!! Lost the bar THOUSANDS!!

Ordered the loco Moko and it was worse than anything Ive had. The burger tastes like nothing but burnt char, and the rice wasnt even cooked all the way through. I genuinely liked the food there but that ruined it for me👎. It doesnt even look cooked!

Excellent food. Menu offers a variety of options and weekly specials have been my go-to lately. Definitely casual dining with good sized portions. Prices are not expensive and quality is good. My favorites have been the Lumpia, Loco Moco, Hawaiian Bowl, Peach Chimichanga and several of their daily specials. Looking forward to their extended hours for lunch! Highly recommended.

Nice staff and owners. Great for get-togethers and events for the local alternative lifestyle community. Food is pub style and sharable.

Service not to good. People working were not so friendly they seemed annoyed with everything and everyone.

This place is a joke . Told I wasn’t allowed to visit friends to see a show. Again support others that try to help support your business. The staff in here are all so small minded and so rude I mean nothing changed about this place . People be ashamed of how you treat your customers it all comes down to favoritism. I was just there last weekend with my best friend. They never told me anything, but once I’m alone, they attacked me I felt they like to embarrassed me, and I have to say people grow up sidewinders I see this place, unhappy, staff, and false advertisement on how they treat people. And for people to be talking when they never new a gentleman pulled my pants off but it was ok and I seen so much drugs and a lot worse but it’s ok write …. to the exact same thing but nothing ever done to them or being harassed. I pray for you all and get over it and move on ! 💋But hopefully this year you treat others with respect and get better management and staff . 💯I been alcohol free for a year and know I see how all you people work . Again they pick on people that they don’t like it was an excuse just like everybody that I had a conversation tells me pretty sad you people are I’ll be praying for you all.

I found this place to be pretty fun. The dance floor has enough room to accomodate quite a few people and the outdoor patio is very nice because it overlooks Central. The only reason for 4 stars is because Ive only been allowed entry once because I refuse to let them digitally scan my ID upon entry. The only time I was let inside the club was when I told the bouncer can you please just verify my age without scanning my ID and he let me inside. Every other time I have been denied entry.

It was my first LGBTQ friendly bar that I visited in Albuquerque, and it was very lively. I went for the Freak Show and the performance was very fun. It was a very cozy venue, with limited seating, but it felt very friendly! I never tried the food, but the drinks were great!

Lovely people per gay bar standards.However, I am not sure who designed the layout... But the bar doesnt have much bar space to sit at, the sitting areas are awkward... Music volume is all over the place. Basically the place has no style or feng shui. They should hire some gay people to decorate. I have seen some definite improvements, but its just not a cute place to hang out just yet. Dark and dingy.

Great spot. Having come here many times I’ve noticed there isn’t much diversity amoungst GOGO’s, bar staff, performers, djs etc. they all seem to be a certain type of person. I realize it’s New Mexico. But should be worked on

Went in to check out the place and food, since they had decided to branch out and relocate business and expand upon it.The owners are incredibly caring people, the staff is incredibly courteous and friendly.Menu has varying choices and completely eclectic and is changing to suit the public’s wants and tastes. So more than likely you will find something that appeals to your tastes.10/10 experience, the place is gorgeous, beautiful, and the staff is incredible. I’d recommend going and seeing for yourself.

I havent been to this new location and it didnt disappoint. The various rooms to scatter about and the music genre was perfect. Definitely will be back

Most excellent service with the atmosphere of inclusion youd expect that the owners cultivate. The new location is lovely and intimate, especially with the new patio and welcome menu.A sense of belonging from the staff, and a good scent from whatever delicious grub you enjoy from the kitchen.

Ive been going to Sides since their old location was near Wyoming. I LOVE the new location and my taste buds are in HEAVEN after trying the food!!I always have a wonderful time, both during the day when I bring my children to lunch with me, and during the evenings while at a show or with friends.Everyone is so kind and remembers my name and order!Im always excited to go and the inclusive environment is wonderful, I really feel like I can be myself there.I totally recommend giving them a try!

This place has amazing food and great staff. Has.killer fish and chips.Michael and Renato are some of the sweetest, most amazing people you could ever hope to meet.They really care about their patrons and are really supportive of the local LGBTQ+ community.They recently banned a rather nasty person that was a bully in the community from the safe space the bar has become, and by doing that they made our safe space even safer for.us all20/10 would go here again

Great lil place to meet for cocktails and good music...and Food! Albeit being outdoors...but they have heating lamps and they have set up things outside with a nice Ambience... I don’t get out much, but when I do, it is usually to come here. I have always been treated like family from the first time I walked in the door. Wonderful performance space (once we get back to that) and yummy food! I also appreciate that they have a mocktail menu for those that can’t or don’t drink.

Awesome Filipino food and drinks, but the menu has many other types of food too! Sidewinders is a gem for anyone looking for a great meal or a night out! The staff and owners are friendly and the prices are very reasonable. Give them a try and you will be glad that you did.

I love this place. Ive been going to sidewinder before they moved locations and the quality has never been better. The food is amazing and the staff is always super friendly to me and my partner when we go for a lunch or early dinner. I love the vibrancy that this restaurant brings to the nob hill area and will continue to frequent its warm and inviting atmosphere for many years to come.

Didnt know there was a restaurant too! Have to check it out next time, awesome staff, nice people, easy to find.

Needed dinner and called in for take out. Had the pork Lumpia appetizer. Requested a sweet and sour dipping sauce and this appetizer was great. A little greasy but great. Husband had the cheeseburger, I had the off the stick yaki tori. All was good, and the prices were great.

The owners and staff, since day 1, have always treated me, and my friends I bring in, like family. I’ve tried just about everything on the menu and have never been disappointed, the food is AMAZING!!!! Every time I’m in Albuquerque I make it a point to go in and at least have the lumpia! They keep everything very clean and take great care and go above and beyond in abiding by all Covid rules. The owners have always been extremely supportive of the community and part of this was standing against an EXTREME bully in the community which is where the negative reviews came from, someone with a lot of bitterness and ugliness and way too much time on their hands. Please experience it for yourself, you DEFINITELY will NOT be disappointed!

Not only is the staff some of the kindest people you will ever come across, but the food and drinks are incredible, and the energy is so positive and inclusive! The owners have taken great strides to provide a safe place for the LGBTQIA+ Community to gather, even amidst covid, and has come up with some of the most creative and fun ways for Drag performers to entertain while still keeping entertainers, staff, and patrons all safe. (Drive In Drag has become one of my favorite events ever!)Sidewinders Bar and Grill has become my fiance and Is favorite date night spot! My favorite are their slushies and the Lumpia! I recommend this restraint and entertainment venue to everyone, LGBTQIA+ Or not!

It is what it is...the creme de le crope of Albuquerque. Lol. Food is bomb though.

Really enjoyed the Filipino flare at their new location. The chicken adobo, pancit and lumpia were delicious. 3 of us shared these dishes along with fries that were spot-on. The owners Renato and Michael are great.

S4200 is ran by amazing and compassionate people. The staff is diverse and treated well. The menu is changing to fit what works for them and customers. Try the lumpia for sure!For all the one star reviews, they are being made by the same people from different accounts. Please do not let those fake bad review deter you from trying out this LGBTQ+ bar and grill.

I have been a patron at Sidewinders for many years, and the owners are amazing people who do many great things for the community! I recently checked out the new location which is a really cool space! The food was all so delicious (my friend and I tried 5 different things from the eclectic menu) and the service was excellent. I look forward to going again!

Foods amazing people are great. The veggie rolls are the best so are the burgers definitely a must check out spot an them one start comments on here seem like fake profiles sense leaving thier one star was the 1st time they ever left a review #bitterbettys

I specifically asked for no (grilled) onions on the burger. 🤔 It came with it anyway 😒 I specifically requested napkins and utensils, I Did not receive any of my requests 😒. But the fries were delicious.

Had eaten already, was saving this spot to stop and have a cocktail, but required to order food—everyone in the party—couldn’t split anything or share appetizers. Should just charge a cover. Unaccommodating at best, plain rude at worst. Definitely not a tourist or 🌈 destination! 0 stars

Came in tonight for a drink and told the server to give me something fruity with no coconut because I’m allergic. Got served a drink with coconut in it anyway. Great service friendly staff bartender was apologetic but i had to go home right away because of reaction.

The only place to get Filipino food daily in Albuquerque (all of New Mexico?), and jeez louise is it delicious! Theyre now the only true gay bar in Albuquerque, as well. The atmosphere is very inviting, and the owners are hard working and working hard to create an inclusive, supportive, and inviting atmosphere. Unfortunately, theyre currently dealing with a smear campaign on social media and review sites - a disgusting and unfortunate side effect of being effective leaders in a small community.Besides hosting drag and burlesque shows, Sides does a lot to give back and have for years supported multiple niche communities - such as the BDSM and leather communities - by dedicating recurring nights to them, as well as hosting fundraisers for local nonprofits like the Domestic Violence Resource Center and working with 501c3 organizations like the Brujos Rugby team and local Roller Derby teams to raise money for their organizations. They also gather community members for things like a community choir and community plays.Altogether an amazing business which I am happy and proud to support!

This isnt just a bar and grill this is a family. You dont just get to come in and get some food and a drink and leave no no, you come in and instantly treated like family, before you know it you are laughing and talking and forgetting the stresses of the outside world for just a little bit and right now isnt that what we all need? This place spreads love and cheer for all and passes no judgment. I couldnt think of a better place to spend an evening with My fiance than Sidewinders they make sure everyone feels welcomed and comfortable. The staff are fast and friendly the food is always amazing and the owners arent like other places where they hide in the office no they came out and sat and talked with us and made us feel like part of their family. Great establishment. I just got back into town a few days ago and this isnt a place Id heard of, so it may be pretty new. Love the set up, the memorialization of past events, and the employees were very friendly and helpful.

Ordered dinner for a 30 min lunch break, first timer, and show up to find out kitchen is closed and theres no food served because someone walked out. Waste of time, gas and now I am limited to what I can eat because I have 15 min left. First and last try here. Lame.

Very good food, a great place to eat. Very friendly environment, a diverse menu. It’s a mix of Bistro and Pub Fare. They’ve got a nice drink selection, even if you’re sober.

Ignore the trolls here. Sidewinders is an amazing supporter and queer community performance space. They have done an amazing job opening the kitchen to keep the doors open and a welcoming, inclusive space available to everyone. Please check out their delicious Filipino-influenced menu!

Sidewinders has always been welcoming and super friendly. It has a great atmosphere and they serve good drinks without charging an arm and a leg. I see a lot of negative reviews, and I recognize as many as 5 of them all being the same person using their many aliases. I definitely suggest giving Sidewinders a chance and judging for yourself.

Sidewinder’s is one of the most comfortable bar and grills around, the staff is friendly, professional, and helpful. The food is AMAZING! And I totally recommend it! I can’t wait to go again when it fully opens ! A PLACE TO BE YOURSELF! You’re treated like family!

Not really anglo friendly. First time Ive experienced this. Miss thing hostess had her attitudies for breakfast. Bad hip hop. This is the only gay bar in abq? Food is good

Gay friendly and super tasty! Everything Ive gotten from the kitchen has been super good and reasonable. Bar is well stocked.

Good food and fair prices. The staff is friendly and the restaurant and bathrooms are very clean. Tables are socially distant and face masks were worn.

Very boring. If you want to go to the bar on weekends, you have to pay a cover charge for the drag show. Even though you dont want to see it. Drag show is held in a separate room, separate from the bar.

I called and they told me 2am was last call, payed 10$ and showed up at 1:33, they told me last call was at 1:30.. so wouldn’t let me in…

Nice inviting atmosphere and everyone is friendly. Meeting people for drinks? This is a great spot. However the food definitely needs some work.

I have watched this great enterprise pick up the pieces from the pandemic and really step up with its offerings, atmosphere and comraderie over time. SO grateful for this safe venue on so many levels.

Unfortunately for the past two nights they have caused an insane amount of noise pollution… Will be reporting them to the city, the police and the rest of the neighborhood who has to get up to work in the morning.Wouldn’t bother recommending them for anything at this point.

Sidewinders is like a second home for me and my family. The atmosphere is all inclusive and the food is fabulous! I cant recommend them enough. Such a jewel for the community.

Its a great place their food is amazing french fries were good wings were the best I ordered mild wings they were so good I tried the hot wings theyre really nice and spicy some tacos crispy really delicious chips and salsa it was good salsa needs to be a little bit spicy but it was good and service was really really great one of our service was El Chino he did a great job however there was other servers that was doing a great job thank you for your great service I will be back a Day with a Shepherd night she did a great job!

Been going to sides since the old location the new place is great and the food delicous! I havent had a bad experience here and I never feel unwelcome.

This place used to be so funny, interesting people. Now its a hole in the wall with jerky people hanging out there.

This is a great place to see a burlesque show, sing karaoke or just have fun!

Rude bartenders. The place is a mess with junk just piled in every corner. Total identity crisis. Ive given this place chance after chance since they were at original location and its just mediocre at this point.

Bar had 6 chairs, it was dark, had 1980s price is right on TV mostly men guess regulars, not what I was looking for bartender was good
