First time to attend the monthly PotLuck Gathering this past Sunday, August 4th. Was pleased to see such a good turn out, staff did an excellent job and the fellowship was great with our Brothes and Sisters. Will plan on future PotLuck Gatherings! Thanks for supporting our community!

Very nice and friendly atmosphere. Affordable wide selection of drinks. There are several displaced people in the neighborhood, however, and I would not feel comfortable being there late at night.

Im writing the review I wish I had read before putting this on my trip itinerary. If youre visiting Asheville from out-of-state looking for a fun, gay atmosphere, this is not where you will find it. The vibe was completely dead. My wife and I stood right up at the bar for 20 minutes getting ignored by the bartenders in obvious favor for the men who kept elbowing up around us. The show started before we even got our drinks, but thats okay because we werent missing much of a performance: the drag queens just walked around and lip synced, almost no dancing. It was my wifes first drag show and I had to tell her afterward that this was NOT your typical drag show and promise to take her to another one back home. Immediately after the show ended we couldnt get an uber fast enough. We might have been gone an hour total and could have just driven our own car for how sober we ended the night.

My boyfriend and I went to this bar because we were in the area. There was almost no one else there, but that is to be expected at 5ish on a Tuesday after the 4th of July weekend. It seemed like a nice place, and they had pool tables! I loved that they had gender neutral bathrooms, too.

Great atmosphere, friendly bar staff, welcoming regulars. A great, safe place to grab drinks, do karaoke and even catch a drag show.

The Underground was packed! I wish they had of switched rooms for the bear fundraiser, but fun anyways!

I had such a fun time on our girls’ trip to Asheville and this was the last stop. The show was awesome and the staff was amazing, especially Cap!! I ended leaving my phone behind and they mailed it to me!!! Above and beyond, for sure. 🩷

This was my home away from home and always be my personal cheers bar. I love the staff and owners. I hosted Cocktails and Karaoke every Wednesday night. I cant wait to visit again. ❤

We came for a drag show and to celebrate our best friend’s bachelorette! The Queens, Ophelia Love and Ekisha Renee, WERE FANTASTIC. The DJ even played our girl Chappell Roan. So much love!! We danced, sang our hearts out, and had the most amazing time here

The bartenders are nice Cap is my favorite. Laid back atmosphere, I have become more of a regular every other two weeks. Ive been to the other bars in Asheville, but they dont seem to be as laid back nor as clean. Only thing I would ask to change is to play more techno music please? 😁

My first time at O.Henrys and love it, friendly staff and the drinks were on point. Bartenders are super cool and the vibe was great. I went to Asheville for the first time with friends that have been to ohenrys before. Had a amazing time in Asheville and plan to return very soon.

Visiting from Dallas we really enjoyed this chill off the path neighborhood bar . Very laid back fun atmosphere!

Shannon is a great bartender and a phenomenal singer!! Great karaoke fun!!

The bathroom floor was full of piss. Toilet seat was disgusting and scattered with pubes. Hardly anyone there on a Friday night around 9. No excuse for the bathroom to be that filthy. Drinks were overpriced and weak and the atmosphere was not friendly. I had been wanting to go here for a while, it was disappointing.

Ive been here a couple times , the top shelf kinda doesnt exisit here. But they have great cheap specials often. They welcome everyone music is always pretty great. I go with my friends whom have came there for 10 plus years. Always good service and never thought they had food though. Never seen a menu for food.

Was there about a month ago had a very nice time great atmosphere. Definitely will be returning.

We literally come here for the bartenders. We come here a handful of times a year from out of town. They remember us and are always so hospitable and friendly. We look forward to coming to O’Henry’s every time we’re in town.

I came into NC around 1AM last night and went almost straight to the bar. From the moment I arrived in my Uber and coming in the door, I loved the place! Seth was the bartender and there were very few people inside. Seth walked me through how to check in with ID and such and when I asked for a fruity cocktail, he knew exactly what to make! I had three of those, had great conversation with Seth and a few of the guests and got a big hug from Seth before leaving. I’m coming back tonight and can’t wait to have another, wonderful time! Y’all are my home away from home! 🙂

Eclectic atmosphere where one can go and fit in regardless of your outward expressions. A Positive and friendly place. Full bar and nice beer and wine selection. Daily entertainment. Clean bar with clean bathrooms and a nice outside area to congregate. Friendly staff, Friendly environment, friendly drinks and fun entertainment.

I had a wonderful experience at an underground private event. I would highly recommend this space as they are extremely kind and the bartender that hosted us, Seth was absolutely the most attentive and respectful bartender. I felt very comfortable and always had my water more than half full! Truly thoughtful and everyone working made the experience a night to remember. Highly recommend this place, I will be booking this space for many future events

Went once and had a great time and enjoyed dancing and the drag show. The next time we went everyone there seemed over 40 and the bartenders were completely rude to me and my friends and made us feel entirely unwelcome. I guess it depends on the night and who is working. Fortunately Sly Grog is right next door and always friendly so if its rough inside you can just walk down the hill

I hosted a party this past weekend at The Underground at OHenrys which was a total success! Everyone who came loved the atmosphere and had the best time! The bartender was super accommodating and made sure everyone was taken care of. He did a great job serving us all! The owner is also wonderful to work with and I cant wait to book my next event with them!

I live to go to this bar. Its the only bar I visit in Western NC. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. Asheville is a melting pot of diversity and culture. The lovely men and women who are lucky enough to get to call Asheville home are living examples of that diversity. Take an open mind and let yourself simply be.. who knows, you might discover a little more about yourself through the insight of others in this colorful establishment.

Atmosphere has changed. Not as friendly as before. Many patrons go there to sit and scroll through their phones. Bartenders used to talk to you more. Kind of important for visitors.

Wow! Phenomenal bar!!! Just in town for a day and saw this place was close by. The bartender on Monday night was amazing and we had so much fun! Great vibe, great bartender. I will make this place a must-go next time Im in town.

Went to a private event at the underground and had a wonderful experience. Having been a member here in years past I was looking forward to a good time with good friends, and got just that. Our bartender (Seth?) was beyond accommodating. He remembered everyones names and was very attentive. I hope to have more private events here, with the same bartender, in the future.

It was slow since it was a Monday night, but the atmosphere was wonderful and extremely welcoming. The bartender was very nice, even spotted us for pool!! And very helpful. Well be coming back on Saturday for a more fun filled night!

Went to a friends event at the underground and had a damn good night. Got to have a private space for all our friends to dance and hangout. The Bartender was amazing and truly added to the already great atmosphere. Absolutely no complaints from me. Guess some previous reviewers just can’t handle their liquor… smh.

Why was my friend, visiting from out of town, required to pay a $5 membership fee just to walk in? We just wanted a quick beer, and the Members Only law for NC bars was relaxed in June 2022 such that memberships are no longer required. We walked out, rather than pay for the membership, and had a drink elsewhere (with no membership requirements or fees).

I went here for my 21st birthday and the bartender, Jeff, was AWESOME! I asked him to make me a drink he thought I would like and he made me the best drink!! It was such a good drink, both bartenders were very nice. my friends and I played pool and had amazing lemon drop shots, a couple good beers and of course the awesome drink Jeff made me.I recommend going to O Henrys!

A fun place to hang with friends. Great drink specials! Friendly bartenders! Fun game area! Classic drag shows. And DJ for dancing the night away. I will definitely come back here again!

Horrible experience. Other than Seth the bartender and the lady behind the bar everyone else looked and acted miserable. Dj was extremely rude over a simple song request. Would never come back. Show was very slack.

Where to start? Ohenrys use to be a great place. But ita gotten awful with the current owners. They own thw property and building while telling others they dont. $7 for a beer!? While they pay $1 for it. Paying employees less than minimum wage!?! While the owners make themselves look like they are good people. The owners are complete drunks! Can often find them drunk at the bar. Playing favorites. Thieves constantly at the bar trying to get free money! And trying to be a medical Facility at thw same time. DONT GO THERE! THIS IS YOUR WARNING!

Was welcomed warmly, had plenty of laughs, and just an overall wonderful experience! My new favorite bar, hands down. Gentleman tending the bar with all the piercings is all kinds of awesome! My partner and I will definitely return time and time again from now on.

OHenrys has always and will always be a good time. 10+ years and always fun.

Epic karaoke night, somewhat of a dive but tons of fun

Amazing. I grew up in Asheville but have never visited this bar. Had a great time, much better time than the bars up in Milwaukee, WI (near the area where I reside now). Will be back again when Im in town visiting family!

My visit while working in the city as a health hero with co-worker. A nice friendly place filled with good people

The location was ok, not much parking, music was ok, crowd was ok. We were visiting from out of town. You have to get a membership to enter, its good for a year. (Its not expensive.) What we noticed was there were a lot of overly drunk people that could barely stand still being served. We left because it became more of a safety hazard than a relaxing evening. The next time were in town we may try it again, it might be better (for us) when they have an event.

This place has been here most of my life. Tho I’m a breeder, I’m proud this place is a local landmark and one of the few remnants of “Old Asheville”. Hope it’s is here to stay! ❤️❤️❤️

I had fun, bartender was super nice and the drag show was fun. Went for a wedding party so the group mainly hung out back. Parking is tight but, hey, at least theres a little bit.

Some friends and I Went out to ohenry’s on a Saturday night. We got there and the atmosphere was pretty dead. We went for the drag show, but ended up leaving because the show was pretty boring. All the queens kinda stood there and didn’t dance. And the announcer kept asking us to yell, and if it wasn’t good enough she would nagthe crowed to do it over and over again. It became really obnoxious after the third or fourth time.

Went there last night to finish off my birthday trip to Asheville. As a bisexual woman, sometimes it can be hard to find gay bars that feel accepting to me and include me within their spaces. Ohenrys delivered exceptionally, friendly people that supported each other, incredible staff and a warm inclusive lgbtq+ atmosphere. You could tell that all walks of life were welcome here. From a money aspect, I paid a $6 entry fee which is super cheap compared to other bars in Asheville and their drinks were super reasonably priced. I recommend going with the on special liquor, because it doesnt matter what the bartenders make it is going to deliver and be delicious. Will definitely be returning on my next trip to the high country, thanks for making my night spectacular.

Great bartender and a great atmosphere

O. Henrys has always been the Gay Cheers of Ashevegas. Clean, comfortable, inviting, and unpretentious. Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name, and sometimes you dont. This place works out well on both accounts. The staff is friendly, the drinks are stout and cheap, and the oldest branded gay bar in North Cackalacky is still proving now more than ever why.

OHenrys is a low key fun place. Every one is very friendly and they have a great Drag Show on the weekends. It is a bar not a big dance club, but they still have a dance floor that you can dance on.

The place was nice , but in NC they have some type of rule that you have to be a member to get in the bar? Also the price of the drinks where expensive

There are not many gay bars In Asheville but O’henry’s offers you a great crowd and very friendly service. Also, a bouncer helped me with a drunk who was bugging me! Thanks! Excellent. Check out the special gin tonics served on the mirror balls!

I have been coming to this place for almost 17 years and I will always love it. Sometimes it is packed and sometimes it is quiet, I like that it is not always predictable. What is predictable though is that the people who work there are generally cool and the space is open to everyone in the LGBTQA community. Even though the ownership has changed over the years there is always a theme of openness and fun and you get the feeling lots of people in Asheville know each other and support one another. Asheville seems kind of metropolitan sometimes but we are still a fairly small city and the community is tight knit. Plus it is the oldest gay bar in NC, which means it is a part of NC and Southern history! Def take in a drag or burlesque show if you can.

If youre not a local, you dont matter here...rude staff and patrons. Agree with a previous poster, come to Atlanta for friendly people, you wont find them at OHenrys.

I remember the old building, there were the old speak easy booths. Back in 1981 - 89, it had a basement area. I held my Diva shows with one or two others. There werent many that did that then. Use to make sandwiches for Brunch there, run across the street and work in the Jarreds 5 star french continental late afternoon, then for dinners run into the back of Piccolo Mundo. One of my favorite things was when I got jobs to paint Murals on The Civic Center N wall when Barnum came to town, all in all I think 22, from W Asheville to Blantons Jr College, and even the Pepsi plant. Hung allot of my art in Malaprops. The best memories were hanging out at OHenrys. I still have proprieties up on the Blue Ridge Ill have to get out that way soon and stopping at the New O Henrys is a must. It sounds as though You wonderful guys n gals have tried to keep the best of the things I remember from the high-points in my life from that time, even the club that used to be called Trax now called The Plug and Paradox, hope they are still a place I can feel comfortable in too. Meet some nice people, staff was very friendly, place was casual and seemed like a good local place to see friends and grab a drink or two..only suggestion... they need to name a drink after Bugsies Bounce lol...Ill definitely be back ..

Ive been in many spaces like OHenrys, local gay bars, but there is a unique kind of magic about O.Henrys that Ive seen play out time and time again. Longtime, long-seperated friends just happen to come to O.Henrys at the same time, reuniting by sheer luck or chance. It happens often enough to lead one to believe in a certain influence of a grander design that ensures particular friendships and relationships are forged for the betterment of both parties, both persons just having had run into each other at random despite both visiting from out of town and neither person seeing the other for years. There are no consequences at this special spot. So, come for the drink and the camaraderie, stay for the full experience. You will be enchanted.

A Great Gayborhood bar with friendly people great staff and awesome drink soecials. Something going almost everyday of the week from trivia and karaoke to drag shows. Wednesday jaraoke you can win an awesome cake from a local bakery a must go place

Was very disappointed .It was close to where we were staying so thought it would be fun to meet the locals .LOL they could care less that you were from out of town.It was my first time to Ashville NC. The city is nice very artsy.So you would think the gay scene would be thriving for a city this size.From what we were told at the bar it is the only remaing gay bar in Ashville .These reviews say it is voted number one.. ITS THE ONLY ONE LOL..Should have checked YELP before we went there it is truly accurate.Google reviews isnt at all !Come to Atlanta GA.Where all bars are friendly ! We welcome visitors and there are lots of bars to choose from. Only 3 1/2 hours away JUST SAYING!

Cool local bar. Waiting for 15 min plus because only one bartender, not so cool. $6 to get in and wait 15 or more minutes for every drink made me leave and find somewhere else to go. Would return with better service.

Asheville is a progressive town with amazing restaurants culture and a progressive attitude. But walking into this bar, I felt like I went back in time 30 or 40 years. it wasn’t even 80s night and they were playing music from the 70s and 80s as if that was hip and current. The bar is run down, the drinks were weak and there was a cover charge to get in - when there was probably 20 people there. Why is Asheville treating gay people like it’s the 1970s, and why do we have to sign in like it was a club why are gay people different from the rest of Asheville? Why do people settle? Why can’t such a hip and vibrant city provide an environment for gay people that fits within the realm of the 21st-century?

Good music and reasonably priced drinks! Fun night out, lively shows, great entertainment! Definitely a must go for the gay community and its supporters

This neighborhood bar is under new management and totally renovated. The men here are a friendly crowd and there are great drink prices. We are very impressed.

Nice hidden downtown gay(man) bar...with a awesome dance club in the back. All really friendly bar tenders and clientele and this is coming from a woman whos been to her fair share of pretensions gay club/bars and this is not one of those. Great place!

Oh man..... what can I say.... they need to get with the times. There is so much they can do to make it just.... AMAZING! it had its prime but.... its so run down! They need to keep up. Loved it at one point but, we WANT MORE!

Its a lotta fun starting around 9:30 onwards... Wander around, youll find some spots featuring unsolicited fun. Possibly the best club in the south. Dance the night away.

Karaoke night... 5 people and the bartender was very slow and on their phone a lot. I had to practically wave her down to get a drink. Not my best bar experience :/

Its the back room of OHenrys. Theres a small stage and bar for separate events and more of a dance club feel. Always a great time
