I had lunch here with my mom and my aunt. I couldn’t decide what I wanted from the menu, so I went with the special of the day: a sloppy joe. Made me happy. My mom got the black bean burger, and my aunt got the shrimp po boy. All of the food was perfect. Service was attentive. I was glad to include this lunch stop in my short visit back home.
Been there a couple of times. Havent tried the food. Bar service is fine and beverages are more affordable than most venues. They either need more ceiling fans or need to service the AC. Pretty cool venue......
One of the benefits of living in East Atlanta village is having eclectic places to eat at. The Earl has been a long time favorite and they have great food and drink specials. My buddy and I both had the Big Earl and it did not disappoint. We had great service the whole night and the atmosphere was excellent. This is my favorite place to get a bite and see a show! Definitely one of the benefits of living in EAV!
We went here for a late brunch or then would that be lunch? Haha around noon. Surprisingly it wasn’t that busy. Sat at the bar and two seats left!My bf who swears by their consistency tried the brunch menu for the first time. He ordered the French Toast with coffee and said it was crispy on the outside and fluffy in the inside.I got the biscuits, eggs and sausage with gravy. Oh the gravy was delicious, the biscuits were soft and perfectly fluffy even with the eggs and gravy over it. Sausage also on point. The coffee was surprisingly good/ average. It’s a shame it was a Sunday with no tunes as we’ve heard from the sidewalk great bands. The bartender was polite and not overly friendly which we appreciated, he was busy but still checked in on us.I’d highly recommend this place as one of the best dive bars which also do a great brunch menu.
I’ve heard about this place from a close friend of 20 years. The stars aligned, I was in town working, and got to see a band I’ve been lucky enough in the past to see; Dropsonic. Headliner was Shiner. Great space, great bands. People getting the foods, the drinks. Music venue separate. Places of this caliber with such history are rare, but you know real when you find it. It seeps into the rooms. It breathes; its a vibe as the kids would say. It was great to finally see a show here.
This place is a great little dive bar in EAV. The food is good and the drinks are reasonably priced. the people who work there do a fantastic job taking care of you, whether youre a regular or its your first time wandering in.You would kmlw.it by walking up, but there is an excellent music venue in the back that hosts both local and traveling bands. The sounds quality is good and the area is very comfortable. We love taking new friends here or just grabbing a Nighy cap before heading home.
My daughter and her friend had to use the restroom and they stopped in to use the restaurantss and was met with hostility.. All was needed was civility,, unfortunately they were not shown any.. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
I had the earl burger and omg it was delicious the atmosphere was laid back and people very friendly BUT the server could have done better ...saw us come and we still waiting for about 8 minutes before he came and took our order after he got up from talking to friends
Ok, first up: I consider this a small neighborhood dive bar ... So dont go thinking of saying this 5 stars is fancy or something fake like that.Clean: my shoes didnt stick to the floors. Youd be shocked at the nicer places who cant manage this simple task.Lots of bar stools! I go to a bar to sit at the bar. It hurts my heart when I go somewhere and they need another 10 feet of bar for more stools. The food is really well prepared but warning, it is kinda fancy, so if you eat like a 5 year old because youre autistic, dont go ordering the hummus. 🤣 Got dayum the fries were great though. 😘 Seriously, I cant knock the hummus plate. I was impressed even knowing it wasnt what I really wanted.
This is the most fresh, delicious “bar food” you will find in all of Atlanta. The Earl is just one of those spots that makes me proud to be an ATL native. In this photo is the Earl Burger with a black bean patty, add cheddar cheese, bacon, and jalapeños. The Earl Burger also comes with onion, lettuce, and tomato. Extremely fresh veggies every single time I eat here.
I didnt have any food, just went for a show, the bartender was super nice! The acoustics are great in here! 11/10 would rock here again!
I stumbled into The EARL for the reason that I was in the neighborhood for an appointment and when my appointment was done I wanted to eat. The EARL was the only restaurant along the strip open at 4:30 on a Sunday. So why not?I walked in and seated myself at a table. One of the servers brought me a menu and took my drink order. The menu is a normal bar/pub type menu except I don’t recall seeing wings or a dip on it. Doesn’t matter. I was happy with the vegan/vegetarian options on the menu. Most places you go has just a vegan/vegetarian burger or a salad on their menu. The EARL offered a few extra items that was refreshing for the scene. I was in the mood for a burger. LolI got the black bean burger, vegetarian style. It was different for the sauce options to be salsa and sour cream, but it was enjoyable. For those who don’t like spicy hot foods, this was a good choice for you. I added Tabasco for a slight hint of spice. Paired my burger with the shoe string fries. I wouldn’t call them shoe string, maybe toothpick. When I think shoe string, I’m imagining a cluster of spiral-ish, super thin pieces of potatoes. Either way, the meal was yummy. The environment is a nice hipster area south of 20, for those who don’t want to pay for parking in the hipster area north of 20. Rock music and Shrek playing in the background. Writings on the bathroom walls. Wooden tables and seats with some outdoor seating. This was a nice environment. My server was friendly. The people I see working have this adorable hipster vibe to them: piercings, tats, clothes. Good team work too.
One of our favorites to go and grab a bite and hang. Best black bean burger in the city and super chill experience.
Nice little bar up front with food. The music venue is in the back down a hallway and separate from the main bar and restaurant area. However, there is a second bar in the music venue. I loved the small intimate environment for watching the performance. The sound set up was good, the small stage made it easy to see and there was a nice area at the back for a merch table. Parking was a little difficult but not bad. I would absolutely go see another show here.
Saw a show there. Great venue. Servers are on it even when they’re really busy.
Club has too much violence going on. Not a good safe place to hang out with friends.Recently onthe local news for a deadly shooting.
Great food, their burgers are amazing! Theres vegetarian options if youre into that. great staff, drinks are affordable, in my opinion best place to see bands play in Atlanta. Its a bar so no kiddos, wheel chair accessable. Parking next to the building.
Pretty rad little hipster hangout restaurant, laid back atmosphere, KILLER nachos, and a super entertaining waitress that randomly and hilariously, felt the need to apologize for saying, Cool beans, BRB after taking our order.Only gripe: When we asked for our tabs, she initially decided to combine all 3 of our checks into just 1 tab. Then after asking her to break them back up, she randomly chose to just split the total of that tab 3 ways equally... and then charged each of us 1/3 of the overall total, instead of charging us for the items that we actually ordered (ya know, the usual way that every other restaurant Ive ever been too, does it).Thankfully, each of our checks had totals that were close enough that it wasnt too big of an issue. Just sorta rando.
Great food and excellent service. Sat outdoors, only thing I didnt like was the music from the place across the street. But it wasnt worth moving inside on account of the weather, as it was such a beautiful day.
Katie and the rest of the staff are always so great. The food is beyond good.
Awesome little music venu. The restaurant and venue are split with the restaurant up front and then you go in the back to watch the show. I have trouble standing for long periods of time so it was nice that they had a few places to sit and enjoy the music.
I have seen so many great shows here some memories you know what Im talking about why I cant say I have many memories. Bar area can get absolutely slammed here because after all it is a music venue so they do get some pretty big crowds for that. Great vibes to enjoy a show though one of the few old timer places still left from Atlantas glory years. Sigh.
Great venue. We ate here for dinner before the show then went through the back doors to the stage area. The food was really good! Cozy atmosphere. Definitely recommend
Ive only been to the Earl for music, Ive never eaten in the bar. However, its one of my favorite venues! Very intimate, good atmosphere, and the staff has always been friendly.
I love a good dive bar thats a little sticky, a little smokey, and has basically no indoor lighting. The Earl is all this and more as one of the few strongholds of peak EAV before the bland condos came to town. The food: They have food so good that I, committed carnivore, actively crave a black bean burger. This is not the place that gives sad little proportions of culinary snobbery. They know Im hangry and hungover. They know I need a mountain of tots and a sandwich the size of a small toddler. The drinks: If you want to sip on an excellent whiskey like a refined elder millennial they have that. If you want to test that liver by getting the Miller + well whiskey shot of your youth they have that too.
To go ordered two burger and fries, one with fries, one with chili. Both had fries. No sign of the chili. One of the burgers was 100% RAW. Uncooked. Outside was seared, thats all. Steak tartar. Couldnt eat it. Wish I knew this before I left the building and drove home. Wont eat there again.
Havent met Earl yet, but this venue is sick!
Pretty good. I had salmon blt 🥪 atmosphere of customers a little unwelcoming but we got a booth and the waitress was so nice. Would return just for her!
I come here whenever Im around EAV. The cheap beer prices and extremely solid food are always an easy hit with the work buddies. Pork rinds were hot and fresh when I had them, the hot dogs are absolutely killer, and they usually have a few specials on the board to try out. The staff is pleasantly standoffish, leaving bar guests to ramble amongst themselves. If you want an overly friendly, saccharine bartender this is not the place for you.
Their food is always on point. The catfish po-boy is amazing.
My hubby and I recently had a burger & tater tots from here and they did not disappoint! The burger was flavorful & the tater tots were plentiful and perfectly crispy! Ive been craving another since I had the 1st one.
I always have a ball when I go. The staff is awesome
Cool little dive bar, with music venue in back.
My experience at the Earl was remarkably ordinary.Let me elaborate, the staff was very attentive at carding to go in, helping with directions and crucial details, they made no exceptions because of family, or because someone drove from another state AND brought 2 whole sets of cupcakes. Nobody under 21.The bartender on the venue side offered me a straw and an explanation its made with agave this set the tone to an upscale experience. I went back outside to join my friend (who was playing amongst like 20 other people) and ordered food while enjoying a hefty discount, on top of a reasonable price and a great meal prepared in less than it took to get my seat warm. While we were waiting I asked for the obvious, I had never been to this spot south of i20 has this place always been like, this... Upscale? The server reacted and confirmed this place is a living legend, its always been the same a 5-stars 2-star bar.The sound system was the most extensive you would think, specially for a 200 people venue. The quality of the sound mixing was so good it was unthought of, the sound guy decided that for these rock bands, the kick was the only thing on the sub, a young sound guy from another (new) venue snobbishly objected, of course, But thats the same guy who praised their loudness levels.Honestly I felt like there was a very wide stereo field, probably the sound booth had the best experience rather than in front of the stage. But to my grateful surprise, the bartender had earplugs, so I wore them all night long and lived right next to the stage.Their procedures and equipment are the quality of a brand new arenas, they should make it a recording studio in the daytime. And the funniest part is the way they mark their bathrooms.
Great place to see live music. Their support of the local Atlanta scene is unmatched.
Love The Earl. Great atmosphere. Unpretentious, they host killer shows in a myriad of genres. Ive seen Jessica Lea Mayfield, Cro-Mags, Midnight, Off With Their Heads & so many more excellent bands here. Great vibe. Also good food and beer selection. Wish the parking lot was a bit bigger but EAV is kinda small, not their fault. Definitely support this gem of a venue. It rules 🤘
Great place for bar food. Ive always loved their Earl Burger and onion rings. Today I did the Patty Melt with crinkle fries and whatever lager they had on draft. Service was a little slow tonight, but I had no place to go, no biggie. The patty melt was really good and suited my taste.Tried the Big Earl tonight. Their take on a Big Mac...really awesome.
Theres a good case this is the best small venue in the city for many genres of music and comedy.
I visited this place last month when my son played there. First, the food is awesome - not your typical bar food, but really good food. For the show, the acoustics were perfect and gave a great sound. On top of all that, everyone was so nice from the waiters to the bartenders to the bouncers. It was a great night and Id definitely go back again.
I havent been to The Earl since pre-pandemic. Its nice to know that some place seems normal.Great drinks, great service and laid back vibe.Try the tofu cheese steak if your a veggie type. Better than youd think.
I came here for a stand-up on Ali Makofsky. This place reminded me of the Florentin area in Israel, you can see how the local community is trying to make this place popular. Very original toilets and interior design. I noticed that some of the dishes here are cooked on an open fire, I think it must be very tasty. We didnt find parking the first time although there was a lot of space in the backyard.
Classic punk bar with tasty boiled peanuts and drinks.
I am always surprised to remember how good the food is here. I should really know by now.Greenie Meanie was moist and tender and SO DELICIOUSLY SPICY. It was perfect 👌🏻I also consider myself a connoisseur of onion rings, and these are among the best. Certainly worth the dollar upcharge. So overall just a great, chill spot with authentic East Atlanta vibes and good quality, fairly priced food.Good bike parking.
This place has it all!!! Great place to people watch , see local and national bands AND the food is quite tasty too! I am all about the condiments and the lemon aioli on their salmon is just a delight. Their sweet tater fries come with a raspberry dip that has a little horseradish kick and it is very satisfying. They have items for vegetarians too. The service is great especially considering he staff shortages these days. There is always a very eclectic mix of folks so people watchers will be well entertained. All this with a genuine dive vibe and you will have it all indeed🦊
Even with the smoke, I loved this place. After the nonexistent service we received at the Graveyard we were especially thrilled. My friend is Vegan and when she asked for the tofu pita with no cheese our server immediately guessed that she was vegan and asked if she would like hummus instead. My only complaint was they only had one cider and no actual drink menu. Excellent food though and SPECTACULAR service. Definitely recommend if the smoking wont bother you!
Love the venue in the back - its one of my favorite places to see live music in Atlanta. Theyve also got good food, strong drinks, and some of the best bartenders around.
Ive only been there once, and it was all the way back in 2011. Saw a band there that I had just discovered, and it was a blast. It being a smaller venue made for a more personal experience. The audio/sound quality was great and just the overall vibe of the place was a great and fun experience. Not to mention beers were a really good price too. Definitely would like to go back one day.
I had the pastrami sandwich which and it was amazing. I have had the burger there and it was ok. The servers are great when it’s not busy but can be a little abrasive when they are slammed. It’s ok I guess it fits the part for the restaurant’s theme. Won’t stop me from going to get another pastrami.
The food was amazing! I only didn’t give 5 stars because it’s a smoking establishment and I personally don’t like to be around smoke when I’m eating. It’s definitely a dive bar type of establishment so no frills but I was impressed with the service, everyone was so nice! I got the blue bacon burger but I hate blue cheese so I subbed it for goat cheese. I got sweet potato fries which come with some special dipping sauce that was so good I put it on my burger too! I haven’t tried any of the other spots in EAV so I’m not sure how they compare but I’ll definitely be back here for sure!
Amazing place to eat, drink and sometimes enjoy live music. I had the pleasure of visiting this place with friends and was not disappointed. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The waitress we had seemed very nice and patient with me even though I have down syndrome and can be kind of bicycle. I will going back the first chance I get. Thanks for a great time to friends and the staff of the EARL.
Saw Manchester Orchestra here on 30MAR23. Awesome venue! Friendly staff, tasty af vegetarian burger, and delicious Bloody Marys! Visit this place!
I have been to The Earl 4 times before i decided to show up again. the first 3 times were amazing, i dont know who was in the kitchen cooking but i had the earl shrimp tacos and i ordered the same thing every time i went back. The tacos were so amazing, the food was cooked to perfection and i can tell it was served fresh off the grill. This time i ordered the steak tacos and im not sure if thats how the steak is served or if it was already made and reheated but, when i got my food the server ( short caucasian lady with glasses and wild curly hair) seemed like she had an attitude but maybe thats her personality. After getting my order it wasnt satisfying as i said stated earlier and so i asked if they could reheat it and they did but afterwards the food just wasnt the same and not to mention my friend found a piece of hair in his food and i asked if we could just order food to go instead of paying for what we ordered to sit down and eat and the waiter asked the manager and i was told that theyd rather not have us get the same order to go if it wasnt made right the first time and they comped everything and we just left. I like the earl and i have nothing bad to say this was just my experience going there this time. I still do recommend the earl because they have great food and the drinks are awesome.
Great music venue. I like that the restaurant/bar area is separate from the stage area - you can go back and forth because it does get pretty loud (bring your earplugs!). Good hangout spot and decent bar food. Get the sweet potato fries!
Great neighborhood bar in EAV. Seating is sparse during busy times, but if you and your friends can snag a table its a pleasant place to hang and drink. There are plenty of drinks on tap and the bar food is restaurant quality. More down to earth crowd than Argosy.
I had never been here. I bought two tickets to a show and we arrived early to have dinner. Walked in. Nobody greeted us. I flagged the sole waitress who said to sit anywhere. 20 minutes later she never showed up so we left and went down the street to Ambrosia (awesome). Came back for the 9 PM show that started at 9:40. Three different HORRIBLE performers. Left early. True story.
Always consistent and the best burgers in town.
Great experience here for a concert. The staff were all super friendly. The bartenders were spot on with their beer recommendations. The concert venue was awesome. Great size and the sound was good. The bathrooms were clean, and very interesting with all the graffiti on the wall.
Came in late with my wife... paid $30 for cover, door guy says nothing he can do.... we just wanted to get out of the house tonight so okay...Band played five more minutes, didnt even have time to finish our drinks... dang..... door guy really shouldnt have even let us in....Bar manager made it right... he was going to do a 100% refund, but I just asked for $20 and a beer because I did receive some entertainment, just not $30 worth. They were super busy, and they could have easily told me to get lost, but they stepped up and took care of the problem. Bartender and bar manager are both rockstars, thanks!
This is one of my favorite spots. The food is to die for. The atmosphere is chill and the bands that comes through are really good. I like the service. You can always get a nice cold beer, if thats what youre into. Id recommend this place to anybody who likes music, great food, outside/inside choice of relaxation and hanging out with your friends.
Good sandwich . good price . had the rueben bc that was the sandwich of the day. bartender made me feel like i was a big to be squished which is a good thing. i have respect for him. i havent been anywhere else to eat in the city but i would come back. wish there was pinball
We arrived early for a concert and decided to get a bite to eat. The food was amazing. Probably the best burger I have ever tasted. I had the Earl burger with garlic goat cheese. Yummy! My hunny had the Patty melt and it was incredible as well. The service was great. Only problem we had was that it was too dark. We had to cover really close to the dim lamp on the wall just to read the menu. But other than that it was great.
Ive been coming here since 2003, its my favorite local watering hole. And they have good shows and good food. My parents will even tell you their burgers are some of the best in town. If youve never been, heres a few things to be aware of:- It is a restaurant in the front room, there are servers to wait on you. Dont order at the bar and then take a seat.- Kitchen closes at 1am Mon - Sat; earlier on Sunday.- The music room is in the back, head down the hallway next to the door to the kitchen.- The bars in the front and back are on separate tabs, so be sure to close out with both if you order from both.- There are bathrooms in the back and the front. The ones up front are single toilets and the lines can get long fast, so if you are seeing a show its usually best to use the bathrooms in the back room.- Their daily specials are good, especially the Thursday country fried steak!
Might just be the new place to go. Great food, the salmon BLT was delectable. Drinks aren’t really all that special; just the normal stuff. I guess that’s the best part, it really is just a normal dive bar. Comfortable and familiar.
This is about the back room, where the stage and live music is.Good size stage. Semi-Decent sound system. Very poor stage lighting.Bar in the room, with good variety of drinks. But very dingy-looking space, with almost nowhere to sit. (I guess the space is meant to be open for dancing.)And no food back there! The front of the venue has food, but if you want to eat while listening to the band, you have to sneak the food in!
Went here for a concert. The bar area is extremely loud to the point of being annoying; I literally had to shout at people at my own table. It was also a little dark for my taste, but if you like a dark atmosphere in a bar, youd love it. Decent service and food. If you want to sit down during the show you better get there early because there is VERY little seating in the venue. Its also incredibly loud. Great acoustics, but seriously, turn it down!
Dont really go here that much. It is smokey (cigar and cig). But this is where i come when I want some of the best sweet potato fries, and I swear one of the best burgers in town. What makes their burger so good is the quality of the meat. It really tastes unique. A true stand out.
I love the Earl for seeing a great local show. The food in the front is really very good. Expect good pub food, nice bar, lots of noise.
Best place to belly up to the bar and enjoy your favorite beverage. Amazing food and perfect place to listen to a band play. Has options for vegetarians and the best black bean burger. Waitstaff is always friendly and remembers your drink when you come back in.
I have been to 2 shows there now and love the set up. Great music sized venue. I have heard they have good food but havent had a chance to try that part yet. Would recommend adding a door to the ladies bathroom stall.... Sometimes a curtain just doesnt do it.
This was my first time here (Im new to the south). Kinda weird and gross to see smoking cigs in a restaurant but whatever, Im here for music. Nice little music space with really good sound. Bar staff was great. The band rocked and I had a great time.
Nice size venue in the back, drinks were also nice n strong. They still served coffee later in the evening (at the front bar), which is always appreciated.
The food is good. I saw Soul Glo play there and I really liked the stage and bar area they have. Merch was kind of awkward in front of the bathrooms, but it worked out. They required a vax card or negative covid test, and masks too, which I appreciated. It was a really fun show and Soul Glo sounded great.
Came here for Halloween night and the service was great. They have a good selection of beers including my favorite stout. For food I tried the Chicharonnes (pork rinds), sweet potato fries, and red beans and rice. Everything was great and the option to dine outside made it even better.
Im an Atlanta native and I love the Earl. It is consistently the best place in Atlanta to see live music that is up and coming. It is certainly a dive bar but it has a vibe that is unmatched. Venue aside, the bar/kitchen in the main room is great! Great salad options, amazing burgers, and good tofu substitutions. Love that spot!
Every time I have been here it has been a wonderful time. But I must say the chefs in the back are freaking wonderful. Currently enjoying the Irish nachos and these are fricking delicious. Definitely go for the Irish nachos and the patty melt.Edit: whoever made the Irish nacho on December 16/17th (all I know is it was before the kitchen closed) 2022 for order name Little, you did a damn good job 🫡Edit2: havent been to the Earl since the reopening in January. Coming back tonight was like my first time coming here all over again. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Edit3: oh my God I dont know who made the patty melt for order little on August 12th going into August 13th of 2023 but oh my God that was delicious. I dont know what chef did that tonight but I want to give you a very big hug right now. That was so good 🤤
Best neighborhood dive bar in Atlanta. The bartenders and servers are fantastic and friendly. The food is not typical bar food. Its amazing. The specials are always melt in your mouth delicious. The nachos and burger are just unbeatable!
Great vibes and the food never disappoints. Venue in the back is small, but has lots of character. Indoor and outdoor seating. One of my favorite Atlanta spots!
Was really taken aback by our waitress. They were busy but she seemed to make a point to be dismissive and curt to our table. A second waitress came along and gave much better service but we had already decided to close out rather than stay any longer. Wont be returning.
First time here last night before a show. Loved the dive bar feel and the service was friendly. Awesome intimate music venue. My one tiny complaint is that the music in the bar area is a little bit too loud and makes conversation difficult.
The food is AMAZING. Id give service a solid B+. Very nice, and quick to get you what youve asked for, just not the most attentive. You kind of have to get their attention about half of the time if you want something, as they dont often just come by and check on you. But honestly, its not a big deal because the place is so small its really not hard to get your servers attention. Its really cozy, and when there isnt live music its got a great atmosphere. The live music makes it so you have to almost shout to have a conversation, which is a bummer, but its friggin worth it cause I dont think Ive ever had food in a bar that was this good. Seriously.
*Non-inclusive environment* We came to the Earl to watch our friend’s band perform. During the set while our friend was playing, an unprompted, rude woman came up to my partner, who happens to be black, and scolded him saying she couldn’t hear the band over his voice. This came as a surprise to us because she didn’t scold me or our other friend who are white and were also talking. We looked around and quickly realized there was not even one other black person in the venue. There were several other groups cheering and talking around us but the woman only scolded one person. It was later brought to our attention that the woman who singled out my parter is the owner of the Earl’s wife! We will not be returning to the Earl knowing it is the practice of the owners to target micro aggressions to people of color. Shame on her.
Great tuna steak!! and this stew is so damn good!! Grungy atmosphere I love it good music cool decor. Good service.. will be back. Awesome string fries too!
I went to hear my son and his band. The place is small but controlled attendance. The drinks were pricey, but good. The music was a little loud for the size of the venue. Overall it was good.
A chill place with chill people. I didnt try the food, but any place with cheap PBR or Miller High Life on offer is OK in my book.
Stopped in on patio nice place and to people watch
Burger was incredibly on point as usual. Alexa our server was exactly the service I love when going out. Very sweet, funny, attentive. The earl is a solid dependable spot I can’t recommend enough.
Great food, and a good place to see live music. This venue has parking off to the side, and as long as you arrive early enough, it is generally no trouble finding a space to park. Sometimes you have to drive around the parking lot a few times before finding a space that someone has vacated, but generally free parking is no problem. This venue does often allow smoking, but not for all shows. If cigarette smoke is an issue for you, do check and see if the show that you are seeing is going to be a smoking show or not.
The earl is a great dive bar, they do allow smoking inside so if thats not your favorite dont go there weekends when its super busy. The food is great pub food so dont miss out. The staged area is spacious, has a bar and its own bathrooms.
Very cool dive bar, similar to the old CBGB in NYC with the style and events. Very casual and laid back in the day with some outside seating as well, the food was better than expected to be honest, better than your typical dive. Next trip to Atlanta i will hopefully be able to catch a show one night to see how it is at night!
One of Atlantas most iconic spots in my opinion. Great food, great service, great music, always a pleasure. I had their party melt and island salad last night and it was ohhh the best.
Probably my favorite venue even before I tried the food. They have water out and available for guests seeing shows in the back. The food was delicious, we even got to eat once with the band we were there to see since its open seating and first-come. Bartenders in the front area are kind of rude, but the ones in the event area in the back have been very cool.
Brunch is very good. The charm is that its grungy. Smoking inside. Shows here are fun but the acoustics are rough. In the venue, the bar will give you earplugs for free.
Great bar. And I love the bar where the window opens like a garage door! Youre inside, then they open the door and u r a part of the outside as well! Ive seen great bands here as well. And they have the best grilled cheese sandwich ever, but nothing beats the Irish nachos! I very much recommend them! Its like nachos but with tator tots! Freakin amazing!
Went for drinks and to hang on a Tuesday. Its a cool bar with a nice atmosphere.
Above average dive bar / concert hall. Below average listening room. Beer selection sucks pretty bad. I cant say Im super surprised. It was a great show and was only $15. Id never go here for the venue but Id come back if there was someone playing I wanted to see.
This place is awesome they have live shows here as well as good food and drinks. I highly recommend this place the vibe is a hip hole in the wall where you will find your local hipsters enjoying a draft beer. The food is excellent and service was always fast and friendly. What more could you ask from your local hole in the wall restaurant?
One of the best live music venues in ATL. Venue is in back of the restaurant. The food is always on point. Great bar food. You can smoke inside which is either good or bad depending on your wants. The shows are sometimes non-smoking (its up to the bands actually) but overall this place is an institution!
This is one of my go-to places in ATL. I like to get the black-and-blue burger (maybe not on the menu any more, but can still put it together) and when I venture beyond that other things are great too.
Since moving to ATL 15 years ago this was my first and favorite bar to see live music. Such a great atmosphere and you never know what type music will be played. I’ve seen everything from metal to folk to a huge Latin brass band. Highlight for me was Baroness
4 stars because the burger wasnt that great, but it was very good. Our waitress (cant remember her name, she was Asian) was absolutely perfect...very nice spot I will definitely be back and highly recommend it, think I will try the patty melt next time.
Drinks and food have always been great. Finally got to catch a show there, and then had late night snacks from the kitchen afterwards. Amazing!
Great bar. Awesome shows. Great food. Dont come here looking for all star service. Its a live band bar. The burgers rock. I got the seared tuna salad last time and was pleasantly surprised.
I enjoy my time at this establishment. The food is good and the drinks are generally good but depends on the bartender that night. I enjoy grabbing nachos when I go.
One of the best live venues in Atlanta. Very intimate stage setting, and they get some great bands. Only caution is that the bar allows smoking inside, but its usually not too bad.
Ive gone to several shows here this year and its a great little venue. the bar / restaurant area is nice as well
Amazing food, incredible service, friendly staff. Definitely a go to.
😳 OMG it was an awesome experience. I mean impeccable atmosphere. More than I expected for @ bar in EAV. Dont get me wrong they have nice and accommodating restaurants and different venues in East Atlanta village. Its jus I thought it was a bar but, it had a down to earth relaxing ambience in it. Really a comfortable vibe to where you forget its a restaurant or bar. Will be coming🔙 4sure. 🙌🏾🔥💯👍💕
Really awesome and laid back place. Prices were great! I got the veggie burger w/tots. Super delicious. (Im not a fan of black bean burgers so I was thankful for the alternative)
Ive been going here since it opened. It is consistently excellent: good quality and delicious food and great service. Also, no kids. Highly recommend.
Very good chicken nachos. Chill place. Great customer service. Love it. Definitely have to try the nachos again.
Good heavy metal bar for local, national and international shows with cheap and lots of vatiety of booze; Great fish specials and good bar food. If you are looking for a good turkey burger in Atlanta, this is the place. Their beef burgers are also on point. Smoking is allowed inside. Seen lot of my favorite bands here.
Good service at the bar? Nice people .Drink prices are great, food was good,Great dive bar atmosphere. Party in the back , just keep going back , keep going all the way back.
I went to see Josh Johnsons comedy show it was great and the drinks I had before the show were great. The food looked delicious
Very disappointed. I have had some friends wanting me to come here and eat with them for over a year. Today I finally made the 2 hour trip to come eat with them. We try to go in and they tell me it’s 21 and up. I’m 19. My friends have have come are 20 and have never been asked for ID. Ever. And then they want to not allow me to come inside. I’m wasn’t trying to drink. I wasn’t trying to sit at the bar. But they didn’t want to work with me for “insurance purposes”.If you’re servers check ID before selling, that would solve the issue.I’m mainly upset because my friends have never once been asked for their ID, nor do they have any kind of sign saying 21 and up that is visible. I wasted 4 hours of driving, and a whole tank of gas that I won’t get reembersed for. Business LOST.
Generally too much smoke for me (to each their own, though), and the sound for shows is hit or miss depending on the evening. Food is pretty quality. Drinks are reasonable. Conversations are plentiful.
Great venue with amazing food. Been going here for years and Ive never had an issue happen. I enjoy bringing my out of town friends here too if its not a super busy night
Im in the service industry, and I understand dive bars. Ive come to The Earl many times for food, concerts etc. And have always had a great experience. But tonight was extra BAD.. Our server approached our table with a bad attitude. We asked for drinks, which he threw on the table , literally slammed the table with our drinks. He then returned and grunted do you want food? I told him that we planned to leave due to his rudeness. The server didnt apologize and simply asked if we wanted the manager. Ummm, yeah..The manager, Kyle, came to our table and offered a free meal. But at that point, we wanted to leave. This was one of the worst experiences if ever had in a restaurant/bar.
Great atmosphere, good food & the drinks were fantastic! my only drawback was that Im not a smoker and there were a lot of smokers in the restaurant. Otherwise The Earl has hit the nail on the head!
Patty melt is bomb. they changed the sauce that comes with sweet potatoe fries and it tastes like cocktail sauce
It was really dark inside but my Earl Dog created some light....lololol. Didnt take me long to forget about that!!!. I had an earl dog, with chili, slaw, and jalapenos and shoe string fries. When the waitress brought the food to the table, I was informed that they may not have slaw the next time because the cook made it special for me. It looked so scrumptous before it even hit the table.. That hot dog was so sooooo good Id come back and sit in the dark again. My friend had a burger she said it was fi....
Its a fun vivacious happening place. The staff are excellent and the food is always on point. Not to mention one of the best music scenes in Atlanta. Youll be missing out of you dont stop by. Cheers. 😁
One of the best places to eat a burger in town. Great music hall with good food. What more could you want? Its not really for you if you cant stand loud noise and cigarettes.
Love the staff. Food is great - best burger in town. Seeing bands here is a treat as they hire the best to run sound. Highly recommended!
Food is just a notch below excellent, but very good for a gastropub... My experience is just less than perfect, as I am not a smoker/health issues toward the smoke; when I am downwind(outside), it is a just less than perfect experience…
Nice and dark and divey but without sacrificing the food sitch (black bean burger with verde sauce was solid). Cheap drinks as well.
Smoking up front, so be warned. Food is solid. Heart of the EAV. Grimy dive with a cigarette machine and a really intimate venue in the back. Would rate ten stars if I could. Incredible bar bites and really captures the heart of the East Atlanta village.
Such a cool little venue! This place fits perfectly into the vibe of the strip with its authentic, punky vibe. They provide an amazing place to see local artists, as well as bringing in touring talent.
Seems stupid to me to be a venue that invites your typical college radio bands in a city with multiple colleges and is super strict about a 21+ rule. Not like other venues who dont mind marking hands when asked.Im not as upset about the venue being so exclusively 21+ as I am how extremely rude the staff member on the phone was when I asked. A simple sorry, were 21+ would have been sufficient, geez.
Went to see bandito. Nice beer, meh nachos but friendly servers. The barmans really should improve their people/barman skills. One offered me a premixed drink as a cocktail. Overall nice place
The atmosphere was typical of a bar in Little Five Points. The food is a notch up from bar food. They had a great menu with lots of items to choose from. We decided on shrimp tacos. It ended up being a great choice. The shrimp were perfectly cooked with a balance of spices and herbs. And it came with lettuce, tomato, pico de gallo, cheese, and sour cream. You also get a side item. Thier are several to chose from. We chose rice and beans. They were cooked perfectly. But lacked flavor. The waiter was perfect. Keep in mind this is one of the last bars you can smoke in, in little five points.
I had a meal here one time, with salmon. i have been trying to recreate it ever since... ever try has been a fail. bar is good for wanting to go home smelling like the bottom of a newports ashtray :\i did enjoy the christmas tree of beer cans during the winter, made getting wasted feel festive!
Surprisingly tasty food and affordable drinks at this grungy ass bar. I like going for their Sunday dunch. If you dont mind the tattood crowd and cigarette smoke, then Its great. Not the best service, not the worst.
Off the top - Smokey , authentic, good food, good music, hip, too hip, great Sunday brunch, bloody Marys on point, meet up spot, drinks are better at the main bar than in the back. Good sound. A must visit venue. Rare in Atlanta.
Rock n roll. Food bar food. Great place to see live music. The front area serves as the main bar and table seating portion. Cigarette smoke sometimes can reach smog level. Thats rock and roll though. The Earl is rock and roll. Through and through.
Been going here fir years and the place never lets me down. The food is always killer. The crowd is always friendly and they host a variety of good live music. Check it out
The Earl is a really great live music venue with a restaurant and bar up front. It hosts mid sized national acts as well as excellent local acts daily. If you ever wish you lived in Brooklyn, just stop by here and youll get the same feel.
The brunch food has improved over the years. My most recent visit to Atlanta found it had improved and the wait staff is their best yet as well!
The food is incredible! Definitely not your average bar food (even though I am a fan). The staff is great. Highly recommend this place.
Service is what you would expect in EAV. Just know you are there for cheap basic drinks and the live music. The choice of bands that play here is consistently great. Good for taking out of town people who like dives.
The EARL was absolutely incredible. Im a big fan of intimate live shows and this totally checked all the boxes. Parking is super easy and the bartenders are fantastic. Cant wait to go back.
Amazingly great food such as portabello mushroom burger and chili are the best in town. they have really good talent come through here for music shows. excellent dive bar!
Great divey spot for a drink. Really enjoyed the black bean burger salad that I got to-go. Nice staff. Have not seen any acts here yet but looking forward to it.
Surprisingly good food here. The regular menu is solid, and their daily specials are often very good. Its also a great music venue.
Nice crowd and good atmosphere. Great live act venue. Bar staff is friendly but dont expect great drinks. I asked for an old fashion and was told that it was that type of bar?
Well, really bad experience this time, usually really good food and service. Waiter didnt seemed customer focused, just sliding by to do the minimal work. Tasteless salmon salad, very disappointed.
Place is pretty odd but that what gives it its original feel. Service is great and most of the people are friendly. Not to mention that they have some of the best prices in town.
The Blue Bacon Burger is outstanding as well as the boiled peanuts. Great music venue in the back as well. This establishment still allows smoking, just fyi.
I love the Earl. Never had bad food. Service is usually great. Amazing bands play there. Highly recommend!
Great staff and great food. Food specials are always tasty and a good value. They have a cool venue in the back with a variety of artists from locals to big names. FOR A GOOD TIME CALL EARL haha
Nice music and atmosphere. The service was surprisingly good. Our order came almost immediately and my friends and I had no trouble with our waitress throughout the night. The food was simply great.
The fried okra is amazing! I was also very pleased with my grilled salmon salad. I love supporting the Earl. Good food for affordable prices.
Bar is a nice hang in Midtown ATL, and the food is OK, but the venue in the back really makes this place. Great for local and lesser known artists. Small and intimate.
Dive bar so you expect dive bar food. But surprisingly did an awesome job with a seared tuna salad. Seared outside and just right inside. If they treated that well, i suspect the burgers are spot on.
The Earl is a music and cultural institution in Atlanta. A great low key quality pub whose clientele have great taste in rock music. The venue is amazing, an intimate room where the sound is excellent - awesome venue and staff.
Had never been before this show, i loved it. Food was great (for a bar) and the show was great, packed house. Had a limited bar selection, but who cares. Get a drink and enjoy the show
The band we serendipitously saw on Friday night was amazing. Anyone with good taste in music is ok with me! Staff was very friendly and its a staple of EAV.
