The Royal is a classic Bellingham party location. Been around for a long time and my favorite thing about them is that they have many different spaces and bars to explore. The music always hits, & the bartenders are always so polite and patient!
Got dress coded for wearing the same attire as the majority of the fem presenting folks there. No issue with having a dress code, but enforcing it by how masc/fem the patron presents is in poor taste in a town like Bellingham. Unfortunately not the most LGBTQ friendly location in my opinion, and a truly disappointing experience for a night out on the town.
I am 29 and have never in my life got drugged. I got roffied here for the first time. I am sketched out how that even happened.
Everything seemed very pleasant good drinks and Lisa smiles. Alright by my opinion. Thanx to royal staff and customers. Impressed my friends from outa town. So thanx again
They denied me and my gf entry sober at 1am. We had money to spend…their loss. Rumours it s than. The bouncer girl at the door was hella mean and inexperienced.
Would give 4.5 stars but physically cant. This place was pretty good. Idk if it was cause I brought a female friend with or what but cover was cheap. I mostly drank shots but the size to type(patron) to price could have been slighly better. I like how much there was but not how much it costed.Did try one of their slushie mixed drink and it was delicious. Went on a Saturday so of course the DJ is playing mostly the bangers from the early 2000s to now that bring a club some hype but not much outside of it. But overall did have a pretty good time.( I also dressed kinda like bad bunny on bullet train apparently ) so dont know if that affected how security saw and reacted to me. Also be wary if you have a out of state I.D.(Florida specifically) you might not get entrance because apparently people from out of state caused trouble and they dont want that, was the reason I was told. So maybe bring your military I.D. if you have one just in case. If the drinks was a little cheaper and if the D.J. was a little adventurous would give it a 5. Would go again.
Came here to celebrate a birthday and our drinks were roofied 😅 not going back.
The music is horrible, BUT the lightening is fire.If they changed the music and catered to a younger audience rather than the 33 year olds, that still listen to early 2000s pop hits, this place would be the best nightclub in Bellingham. Also, there’s so much testosterone. So much. The music high key kills my vibe tho.
I wish I could leave 0 stars. My friends and I went here last night and were harassed by the staff and by the men here. A man standing at the front told us that we needed to be careful and “watch our backs” as young women, stated as a threat. I wish we would have left then. We proceeded to be harassed by the other men there, and myself and my friend believe we were drugged. The staff shorted me on money and were both rude and petty. This place is truly disgusting, the owner of this horrible establishment can rot in the ground for all I care. I wish that the pandemic had killed this business. Ladies, take it from me, take your business elsewhere there’s no need to waste your time here. The men here are boys and the staff are children.
Apparently if you have 1 drink and are remotely having any fun here.... you will be kicked out without question. They dont go and ask the bartender how many drinks you have or use any logic. They are worst then police now a days. At least police make an effort to not act like tyrants. These police academy dropouts are the personification of ego and have low reasoning skills. They also have an undeniable power in the establishment that goes unchecked.
We have gone here multiple times and the staff has always been great, but last night was awful. They had a new bouncer, big guy with a beard and wore a beanie(not Dalton) and he questioned all of us and got snappy if we didn’t know exactly what we drank at the other bars. Let’s be real if your friends buy you drinks your not going to know exactly what you have been drinking. He allowed all of us in but the one guy we were with. I have never had this experience before and it makes me not want to go back. We went to two other clubs with no problems.
This place is trash the Dj plays the same music from early 2000s the head bouncer is a child and a low life .Don’t go there unless you want to be over served and drugged !!
I had a group of friends waiting for me while having a smoke and the bouncer who wouldn’t even give me a name denied my entrance after asking how many drinks I had. I was honest told him 3 and even had a friend vouch for me who I was with. Really don’t suggest this place unless your a cute 20 year old girl, chances are someone’s getting kicked out cuz these bouncers really have no idea what they’re doing. Really lame, don’t come here or Redrum!!
Decent bar, but the music was entirely dated, mediocre white people jams, and nobody I was with could get into it. The DJ was even nice enough to ignore all the requests made by multiple people from different groups. Kind of a bummer
Bouncer asked how many beers I’ve had, when I wasn’t even acting out of the ordinary, I responded two and replied “drink some water and calm down” he for sure was on a power trip. When we were inside we requested a song to the DJ when he saw it was a song in Spanish he said no threw the tip we gave him back. Then proceeded to play lame tik tok viral songs he literally played “my money don’t jiggle jiggle it folds” such a bad dj
Bouncer stole my actual I.D, she looked at it for 2 seconds and said it was fake. I guess latino hate is a thing now. I cant stand latinophobes and I guess this place likes hiring racists. Would give negative stars if I could. Never go here!!!
I was asked to leave this bar tonight for “looking like I was giving a lap dance” to my boyfriend who is in a wheelchair. To explain a little more in depth, the bar had no place for me to sit where I could even talk to my boyfriend comfortably. The main area where they were hosting karaoke tonight has no seats except barstools... barstools are much higher than the average height of a wheelchair. So... in order to even sit down and look my boyfriend in the eye, it was necessary to sit on his lap or bend over. Upon my arrival at the bar, I checked the entire first floor for normal chairs, but all chairs were bar height. Tonight was karaoke night. I sang a couple songs. Danced. Had a good time. I wanted to give my boyfriend a kiss... in order to do so, I had to be on the same level as he was... so I sat on his lap on his wheelchair facing him. Yes, it was intimate... a little bit sexy even... but I wasn’t anywhere near giving him a lap dance. I was completely clothed and he wasn’t pulling any of my clothing off. We kissed briefly... next thing I know the bouncer is asking us to come have a chat with him and the bartender. They asked me to stop “giving lap dances” because other customers might get offended. I asked if anyone specifically said that they were offended. No. I asked if the they themselves were offended. Also no. But regardless, we were asked to leave. I watched other people in that bar tonight kiss their significant other. I watched partners dance and rub up on each other while doing it. I can honestly say that what I did was no where near as provocative. My behavior was indeed mild and innocent, far from seductive or inappropriate. I’m disappointed with the blatant discrimination and clear lack of judgment of the bar’s staff especially since they admitted that no one was actually offended by my actions. Shame on them for their lack of perspective and sensitivity to our unique situation!
I’ve always had some fairly bad experiences here. On New Year’s Eve I was kicked out of the bar when I confronted the bartender for letting her friend cut the line waiting for drinks. The bartender then charged my card for both my drink, and her friend who I did not know and definitely didn’t approve of. The bartender kicked me out when I told her I didn’t approve of the charge and wouldn’t sign the slip, and tried to take my credit card from me. Poor management and shady workers. Tried contacting the bar multiple times, no way to, and they don’t care.
Horrible service. Staff was very rude, and the bouncer was even worse. Do not recommend at all!
My friend, who is transgender, went to use the men’s restroom and was forcefully kicked out. I have never been so horrified in my life. The bouncer claimed because my fiend looked like a girl that he would not be allowed to use the bathroom in their establishment. The royal has exhibited blatant transphobia. I feel sick for my friend. I figured bars in Bellingham would be more forward thinking.
If I could give this place Zero stars I would. December 2018 one of the royal night club bouncers kicked my friend out on the terms that his shirt did not meet dress code requirements. Mind you my friend was wearing a sleeveless black tank top, no huge arm holes, no v-neck, In fact the neck line was high. The royal night club does not have a website with dress code requirements, nor have they posted anything on fb or other social media sites in reference to having a dress code. So careful ladies and gentlemen, dont show off your sexy shoulders!!!
$5 cover charge. $8 for a long Island ice tea. Dont even give you a tall boy glass like they used to. Overfilled with ice in a normal sized 8oz glass. This place overcharges and underserves.
Honestly this is one of the best clubs I’ve been too, if you’re shy the dance floor is always welcoming and the bartenders are absolutely amazing and always very sweet ☺️
Looove the royal. Best karaoke in Bellingham, love everyone who works here. ❤️❤️❤️ If I could change or suggest anything it would be that they served coffee. Even cold in a can on ice. Lol it would be a great alternative for those who don’t drink regularly but like to come;) just saying.
I see it from outside all the time and it looks like a lovely place to hang out and have fun with friends! They have really cool looking lights that change color all the time. Unfortunately they have a policy where you have to be 21 to enter so 1 Star
Great prices. Highly recommend starting your night with a game of pool and some super well priced drinks, specially on Wednesday!
Ya know, wasnt my favorite place in the beginning, probably because theres such a bad word around about it, but its come to be one of my favorite bars for many reasons. stupid cheap drinks and karaoke 3 times a week, beer pong, and some wonderful staff. 10 stars if I could.
Lots of beautiful blonde women and I had a good time got faded really quick good security also for anything I felt safe here🍻🍺🥃🎉
As an outsider, its probably the busiest and most club-ish bar in town. Loud music, lots of college folk.
They have been regularly letting in underage individuals into the bar, terrible staff, Ive been hearing the individuals bragging about getting into the Royal (theyre 19) and using the wrist stamps from the Royal to get into other bars downtown. I plan to contact the management about these individuals.
I have been going to the Royal forever and have always been treated extremely well. The staff is great great drink specials. Fun place to hangout.
The people outside at 2am when the club closes are ridiculously loud on the weekend. Im losing sleep and losing my mind. Please stop screaming and revving your douche-mobiles.
Changed my review because this place thinks they are a high end club when it’s absolutely not. It’s Over priced cover. It has a Gross and dirty interior. I avoid it at all costs
Been kicked out countless timess, someone stole 20bucks from me. But I met my girlfriend here and I love her very much, 5 stars!
Upon asking around bout this place every person had directed me elsewhere!when your own community says to go elsewhere SAY no more also many have said This establishment is racist so all people of color go elsewhere don’t waste your time and your money go elsewhere to have a good time
I got dress coded for not having my shoulders covered. Are you kidding? Trash bar, outdated policy’s, 10/10 never going again.
I come here because of Vaughn. He is attentive and enthusiastic. There was a huge line and he paid attention to us. We will be back, and looking for him
They have bouncers enforcing cis gender separation in the bathrooms. Why!?
The blonde female bartender in the bejeweled outfit was amazing and made the night so fun!
This place is honestly trash. Avoid it like the plague. Terribly long lines to only be double charged or get a watered down drinks.
Two words to describe this place: pure trash. I cant think of one positive thing to say about this dump.
The bouncer called me the n word and told me to get lost this place is racist don’t go here
Went to this place many years ago came back to see if anything has changed ,,,,,nope dont waste your money here.
If I couldGive a 0 I would. F this place
