All 5 star reviews are bots. For sure. 100%. No question.Im giving this place 5 stars.Steph is transformed this open space into a local watering hole. Her passion is infectious and the autonomy she lows her staff is commendable. I cant wait to return and I hope you stop buy for a bit or beverage when you are in the area.
Its a large support full bar and restaurant with many screens and projectors around. Great for sport watching, groups, casual hangouts and meetups. There are big runs for private parties with screen in the back. Not kids friendly on busy game days but could still be nice on regular days!Service is great with many responsive attentive staff.Foods are petty good American. Id recommend burger fries sausage tri-tips pulled pork pretty much everything is good after couple pitcher of good beer 🍻😀
I had fish and chips, not bad but not great. You have to walk up and order from me the bar no waiters to take your order. You have to stand in a long line when it gets busy. It doesnt take long to get food once ordered though. They would probably do better with a mobile app to take orders and numbering the tables. That way you can order sitting down and just enter your table number. We enjoyed the music venue which is separate from the restaurant. It is a little small and can get tight with a popular band. Overall great experience.
Great venue to see bands perform. The staff is awesome and friendly. The food is excellent and they have a very good selection of beer on tap. This is a great place to meet up with friends or a first date with that future special someone.
Went to see RASH perform in Berkeley. The venue is an excellent location, well maintained establishment. The staff allowed me to park my expensive moto in front of the window. Berkeley has allot of vehicle break-ins and vandalism, and they wanted to make sure mine was not harmed. Kudos. The staff was courteous and prompt a with service and ticket for the show. The selection of beers and food is vast. I recommend going here if you have show to see.Ed
The food was really good. The drinks were pretty expensive but thats OK. The music venue was small but it was nice that theres an area up above to look over the show and give more space on the floor. I think there might be a better system to get people in but it was a nice place and most of the people were helpful and kind.
This bar (and music venue) comes well-stocked with a diverse selection of craft beer and rotating cocktails. Its roomy and spacious, with seating to accommodate large parties. The kitchen specializes in tasty comfort food. Think burgers, sandwiches, fish and chips, and things that stick to your ribs. They do have a couple vegetarian options, if thats a concern. You order your food at the bar, and staff brings it to your table. Prices for the food are very reasonable. Most of the money youll spend here will apply to the drinks. If you see a show here, its a standing-only venue, though staff can make special accommodation for seats if you are injured or have a disability if you notify them ahead of time. They have a bar in the back, if you want a drink during the show. The sound system is great.
Friendly bar that’s really spacious! The outdoor patio area is nice and isolated so you can still hear your friends.Definitely check out the music area near the bathrooms - ABBA night is actually the best thing ever. I can’t believe I’ve been coming here for 2 years before ever experiencing it! Tickets can be bought online.I’ve also been to social events here (weekend brunch for a local club, society). In the mornings, it’s a really nice vibe with delicious ciders and IPAs on tap! They also make a terrific mixed drink. If you host an event here, there are also often special requests that can be made (ex. Custom cocktail).
They will steal your money and lie to your face about it. I bought a NA beer and the price on the board was $6. I gave them a $20 and they gave me $12 change. When I asked about the discrepancy, they had the audacity to claim they raised their prices by $1.20 week ago but havent written it on the board yet (thats a word for word direct quote from the bartender). When I asked about my 0.80 change, he claimed it goes to the bartenders for tips. I knew he was lying about both and wasnt going to cause a scene over a 1.20, but if theyre doing this for single purchases, I can only imagine how much itll add up when people make larger purchases.
Food is so perfect, Drinks too. Dogs are very well welcome:) Place is huge and well comfortable designed. Outdoor-indoor place. Big dancing place. I just wish they will have stable open hours and kitchen hours. I came sometimes, and they were closed or kitchen close without notice. Also, that big screens with the sport are distractive. I wish more people will know about this place. May be some outdoor ad?
Second visit to this venue for music, first time for food. For music, absolutely loved! This time around I saw toyGuitar and Juliette and The Licks. Sold out show and we still had breathing room, which is not always the case wirh other venues so it was greatly appreciated. Our meal took so long though! The super peak is that we did not have to walk around to Will Call, our waitress actually printed them for us, score!
When I go to Berkeley I always try go somewhere different. This time I was invited to Cornerstone Craft Beer. First, let me just say the ambiance of this place chill and casual. I love the options of beer we can choose from. The food is Aaaaamazing! I had BBQ Bacon Burger on a bun with what looked like black sesame seed! That bread was so soft and the meat was so juicy! I also ordered the “make your own sausage tray” it is a must have! You won’t be disappointed! And did I mention there’s a concert venue in back with live bands! This night was a treat because CRSB was performing!!!
Great place for music and games. They also have a great beer selection and a cocktail menu. I even got an Abita root beer to wind the night down. They werent the friendliest with checking IDs though. Maybe theyve had a lot of fakes? They started putting bands on people halfway through the night and checked us while we were sitting. My friend of course had an open tab which required him to leave his ID behind the bar which just added to the confusion.
Caught a show in the big room tonight and wow wow wow. Does the room always sound so AWFUL? Not blaming the sound guy, but that room needs some sound proofing. It sounded like the bands were playing in an airplane hanger. Everything else was great though.
Typical brewery, but I love that there is a space for live shows. We walked in while the Warriors were playing so it was packed, but there was still alot of space. All of the college kids, professionals were cheering together and drinking. There was a nice enclosed outdoor patio with firepits. Walk up some steps and youre in a different space with another bar and stage. You unable to hear the other room from both sides, which is very cool. Good space for events.
First time Ive wondered in here since the rebuild, and walking around the place looking and hot I can smell it has been redesigned and cleaned up Im remembering many of its past incarnations thalassa Etc oh, and the many nights I spent over the years. The rebuild inside is completely all Hardwood and looks beautiful, the back area has several Oak tables, where one might sneak a smoke and I think, but the thing that makes this place shine really is the excellent stage room, the really nice sound system beautiful Acoustics, and a nice layout. Havent eaten here yet, but I asked the bartender, like I often do, you just make me a fancy-schmancy Tequila drink and he created something for me called a Peligrosa Formosa drink made with peligrosa tequila. The staff here is great, and on top of everything going on, bartenders know how to mix drinks and there is an absolutely huge selection of tap beers numbering around 42.I am reviewing this day mostly as a night club or bar, Ill come back at a later date and give a review of the food. So far so good!
They have a robust selection of beers on tap and a few nice cocktails. Plenty of sports on the TVs over the bar if youre into that. Late at night the back turns into some kind of club but I didnt go into it to know how it is, but thankfully the bar and seating area remained calm enough to carry on a conversation without yelling. It was a good mix of neighborhood bar and not dead inside
I went with my daughter and her boyfriend to watch a hip hop show and its standing room only and it was on a Sunday night big crowd though
Cavernous & spacious. Almost to the high-end for flavor & technique on the Manhattan that was ordered. Only one bartender when we went so if its busy, itll take a good few minutes. Outdoor seating in the back is nice. Stage for concert & performances are up the stairs towards the back by the wheelchair lift. Thats where the ping pong, corn hole & huge Jenga & huge connect four are which address probably taken away for Saturday evening performances. Nice people. Would come here again with a group of people.
Ok so we went here to see Foreverland (a Michael Jackson cover band) and this was my first time here.I have to say they kinda hide the concert venue in the back and up the stairs beyond the bathrooms. First impressions, new, open space tall ceilings big ol tap bar and sweet outdoor back area. Kudos in the design as you cannot hear the noise from the game in the concert area and thus cannot hear the concert in the bar area, they did a great job of sound proofing. Also the outside area in the back is walled up so its open at the top but with a few umbrella style shades and gas fire for warmth, I like it. The staff were friendly and helpful, the drinks were tasty especially the Apple chai hard kombucha (amazing). We really were excited to try their food n dessert offerings but were a few minutes late to order.Parking can be an issue as its limited so go early and take note that their kitchen closes around 8-830.I will definitely be going back, this time to try the food n another drink.
Baller building however, i got kicked out for dancing at a rave so definitely don’t go here if you want to actually rave or have an energetic energetic experience :/
Great spot for a bite, drink, or show. Its a great sized venue, the bathrooms are clean and have a number of stalls. I look forward to coming back!
I love coming here it’s where, I meet an amazing person! So glad the shows are here all the time! The rock shows are the best!
I had a tab and they over charged my card. I didnt check before I got home and looked at receipt. Also they charged 20% tip and they didnt tell me. So I gave a tip. The scam you here . Be carefull. I will call Manager tomorrow. Second time this happened.
For reason my drinks was took when I went to the bathroom and the new bartender started acting funny that took my drink I was chilling and other cliental started acting Ive been there all day chillen like wth I go to many bars and Im military I guess the military cant go to bars
Times say open late, open until midnight. They did last call at 8:20pm. At 825 the guy said we all had 20 min before close. Gave a five minute warning. Yikes. Unreliable. If youre drinking and need time to sober up before driving, have fun standing outside in the dark without warning... Wont be back.
We had a family gathering that was a tribute to a family member that recently passed away. Excellent food, great service and fantastic drinks.
Great music great TV wide beer, selection and incredible comfort and health food selection can’t go wrong with this place. It is a staple.
An atmosphere-free room that fits 500 humans. The sound system is top notch and thats the most important thing. The bar is at the back of the club and theyre so slow that the bar lines start getting long enough to merge with the crowd. It takes SO long to get a round of drinks here.
Favorite family place, very dog friendly- excellent beer selection, good eats and great staff.
Great bar, great food and a really fun music venue
Restaurant had nice ambiance. But the food that we tried, pretty meh. Ordered some Mac and cheese bites, and they tasted like a walk in cooler. Or freezer. Im assuming theyre Frozen and reheated. Which can work. But not here. They stunk. Fries were fresh from the Sysco bag. Wings were okay. But swimming in sauce.Personally, Id advise a quick toss and then plate. Not served like soup.Music venue was fairly well ventilated, which was nice. Decent beer selection.
Cornerstone Berkeley is a nice place to Have fun ! The Securities are nice too ! Friendly People in this city.
Love coming here! Great food and vibes. Kitchen usually closed at 8. Great selection. Try the Paradise hazy IPA. Their house burger and sweet potato fries! All their pub food be hitting. Cozy environment with flatscreens, outside seating, and a music venue with constant events happening! Check em out:)
The few shows Ive seen at this venue havent filled to capacity, which is a bit awkward, but its not for lack of trying. The sound system is great, the music hall is clean, the beer selection is fantastic, and the bands they bring through are solid. Cornerstones been a huge shot in the arm for Bay Area emo and pop punk, which previously was limited to essentially Bottom of the Hill and Slims.Ill keep seeing shows here as long as they keep booking them, and I hope word gets out that Cornerstone is worth the trip from SF. Berkeley is a bit isolated from the rest of that concert scene and late-night BART to the area is a pain but its easily one of the best venues in the region.
Second visit as good as the first. Full bar highlighting an array of quality beers. I opted in on the tequila based good time. Place your food and drink order at the awesome bar, take a seat, food arrives shortly. Excellent layout, multiple seating areas all trimmed in, nice. Outside garden seating with heated ambience. All a prelude to a concert in the attached high fidelity separate bar venue. Rasta friendly!
Great and friendly bartenders great live music events.
A welcome addition to Berkeley (3.5 Green Stars)I haven’t written a review for two months – the guilt! Looking through my photos, I’m going to review places where I’ve been, in reverse order. First up is Cornerstone, and I have to say that I’m proud of this photo. A basket of fries and pint of Death & Taxes, sitting on my table in the evening light, took on the gravity and artistry of a masterwork by Vermeer or Degas. Anyhoo, after a solitary start with my beer and fries, it ended up being a big group – a post-lockdown work reunion – and I think everyone was pretty happy with their night.I like Cornerstone because it’s one of those bars where you’re more likely to mix with more people (within your own group or randos) rather than somewhere like Jupiter where people tend to not leave their seats. Not that I don’t love Jupiter – the two places are similar in some ways but Cornerstone adds a level of chaos (but in a good way!). Good selection of beer and food, spacious and pretty – what more do you want?I’m also giving the Cornerstone 3.5 out of 5 “Green Stars” for social and environmental impact, based on this:• Large emphasis on local draft beer, which is so much better than packaged beer from afar.• On this visit, the staff ran out of clean glasses and switched to plastic cups. Generally that doesn’t happen but hopefully it won’t become a trend.• The food menu caters well for vegetarians and fairly well for vegans.• No info is provided on social and environmental impact (e.g., food sourcing, staff benefits, etc.)• According to Glassdoor, a server/bartender earns around $16/hr plus around $10/hr in tips.Interested in writing green star reviews? I had a BLAST!!! Went to see the Squirrel Nut Zippers on their Christmas Caravan 2022 tour & it was AWESOME!! The band was totally HOT🔥. The venue sound was well done & the staff was beyond friendly & helpful. ❤️My friend has mobility issues & it was gen admission, mostly standing room but the security dude (Im SO sorry I dont remember his name 😢) when we checked in was fantastic!! He set us up w/a table right near the corner of the stage, (carrying in the chairs & moving the table for us, mind you) to make accommodations. It was a fantastic night!! Ill definitely be going back again. 5⭐s
I came here to see a band. I was very impressed with the large and inviting space, I thought I was in L.A. for a minute. Upstairs has a great stage with first class sound system. Great place to hang after work, or to see a touring band.
I was surprised to find such an excellent music venue in Berkeley. So good that I went again a few days later. First show was Girl Ultra, second show was Karl Densons Tiny Universe. Great sound and visuals on stage. Worth the trip, even if you are coming from the South or North Bay.
Saw a concert here. Lovely, intimate venue!
I was here to work an event last Friday, and unfortunately didnt get to try the food - but it looked and smelled amazing, and the event goers seemed to love it!! Bar staff was friendly and attentive, Stephanie was fantastic - cant wait to come back on my own time!
Everyone here was so friendly and welcoming, it was my first time here, and Ill definitely return someday. It was a nice atmosphere, with a lot of room. The sound in the venue was as amazing as Hypocrisy and the other bands that played Friday night. Itll be a night Ill never forget, all thanks to the generous hospitality of the staff and others who attended as well, and getting one awesome seat to enjoy the music that these live bands were playing. Great place to relax and just enjoy oneself.
We came here with a larger group later on a Friday night after work and I was pleasantly surprised that there was room for us, I thought it might be crazy busy at that hour. The back patio with fire pits is great and the bar is huge with lots of big tables so great for our larger party. The bar staff were very attentive and polite, great beer list and some great whiskeys for reasonable prices! I am old so it was a little louder than ideal for me :) But not surprising for a bar/music venue so close to campus. I would definitely go back!
We really wanted to enjoy Cornerstone but just couldnt. The other night we swung by around 8 for drinks and a dessert and the kitchen was closed. So we nursed our drinks and headed back to our hotel. Today we seeing by for lunch and even though we ordered together, meals came out a dish at a time. I finished my meal before one person at our table of 4 got theirs.
Great place to see live shows. Parking can be problematic. Sometimes you can get lucky and find a spot in front. Sometimes youll have to park way over yonder and walk to the venue. Lots of beers on tap. Bartenders arent always paying attention, so you will have to flag them down. Usually more than once. Even if its not busy. Music venue is nice. Bathrooms are reasonably clean too.
I visit Sunday am before church for a house coffee and scone. Both are good and the staff are friendly and polite. Ill have to visit sometime for a beer.
We had a birthday celebration at cornerstone and we all had a very good time. Food was good. The club is nice, except for Walter was way too loud in my opinion. Even with your plugs. The balcony seating is where we were and that was comfortable.
I live in the area and I just discovered this gem today. Great atmosphere, not loud and very reasonable prices!
Cool vibes for a game, and I imagine it’s great for music, but need to visit again before I can gig e a thorough review.
I was moreso here for my favorite bands, but the venue did not disappoint! everything is open and accessible. the location was a bit tricky to spot, but in retrospect was pretty sensible. the interior is neither too large nor claustrophobic. the bathrooms are super nice and clean and the overall atmosphere was super nice!
Update: Yes, I am a repeat customer for shows. I saw Protoje last night, it was cool as hell. Its always a good venue to see a show. But it was pretty hot upstairs. If there were like two of those big shop fans in the corners, it was would totally help. Other than the heat, this is a great venue.I went and saw tribal seeds. This was my first time at this venue. I was surprised at how roomy everything felt after things got going. It looks small but its a nice place to see a show. The beers were $6 and the specialty drinks were a little more. I dont know if the bar portion has the same price range. But it was nice to be able to drink affordably when you consider typical concert drink prices. The sound was hella good. Ill definitely be back for future shows.
Very open, low-key spot (with a patio!) to grab food and some drinks during the day! Great shows every now and again in the back room, definitely worth checking out.
Watched a basketball game at the sports bar, the restaurant is in the next building but you can order food at the sports bar too.
What a great place and it gave us a shed of normalcy again. My husband and I were looking for a place with music, outdoor dining and drinks. My friend recommended Cornerstone. I called ahead to get an idea of the vibe and spoke to a gentleman named Mendoza. He told us he would take care of us and he did. We showed up right before the time we were told it would get crowded. We had a table outside near the fire pits, in ear shot of the DJ. It was awesome. The food was great, drinks were yummy and strong ( for me but Im a cheap date My husband said they were perfect). Delicious German beer that my husband loved.Staff came around often to check on guests. As the night went on the crowds got bigger. All wearing masks. Im glad we stayed outside, inside was a bit too crowded for me as the night went on. But it made me happy to see people dancing inside. I was worried this was another club like atmosphere full of 20-30somethings and we would look out of place, but not at all. People of all ages were present ( we are in our 40s). The DJ played music from 90s Era to present..Bar tenders were attentive. It was all around great business. Cant wait to go back. We were told live music will begin again soon. Thanks to Mendoza and the entire staff for giving my husband and I the first real date night we have had since the Pandemic started.
Beer selection is great. The two beers i got also tasted like they actually clean the taps daily. The food is good. The service was a little questionable. Bartenders are nice but not accessible when the bar was basically empty. I still rate this high because of the beer selection.
Went there for an event and get to try some draft beer. They are good but ther service is slow due to a lack of bartender there. However I would recommend anyone to just go there and have a great time with friends. Yhe vibe is very chill and it is also close to the bart station.
First time here. Had a great time met friends had brew and eats. Food was good and service was quick. Cocktails good and lots of choices for brews definitely going back. The music they were playing was ole school and good hits
Great food and fantastic atmosphere. We were there for a small venue and it was great being able to relax and eat before the show started. We sat outside next to a fire pit to enjoy our meal and the warmth. My girlfriend had been here several times and always talked it up. Now I know why. Great place!
Cornerstone has a great interior design and ambiance. They have a good menu, both food and cocktails. The bartender that helped me the night I was there seemed to be having trouble, but I would not hold that against Cornerstone. I will go back again.
Went for a concert got there early and enjoyed conversation at the bar. Felt cozy and sophisticated. Bartenders were upbeat and helpful. Each of the 3 bartenders communicated with each other and double checked that customers were satisfied. Food was fresh and made the way I ordered it. Loved this venue. Would suggest it for others. WARNING limited parking.
Great place to watch the game with nice drinks and food.
Great atmosphere- spacious, with attractive outdoor seating. Fresh, well prepared pub menu with outstanding collection of local brews, plus wine on tap, and more.
They have a great lineup of craft beers and a tasty food menu as well. Very open space concept to the restaurant, it is a great gathering place for friends. Connected to the restaurant is a music venue that has lineups throughout the week. For a smaller venue I think it has some of the best lighting and sound quality around! Cant wait to go back!
Cornerstone is everything that you want for a evening out. Food. Drinks. Service. Entertainment. All perfect. Get up and go. The fun is waiting to be had.
Went a few weeks back & was not disappointed. Bar & restrooms on bottom level, I think extra seating on top level but I didnt go up. Checked folx at the doors & masks were encouraged. Was a really good show. Would def go again.
Great place, loved their patio space
Definitely a good place to grab a beer and some food. Got the ribs and they were very tender Would Definitely order again! The corn bread that comes with it is also delicious, I didnt care for the coleslaw so much. Lots of beer on tab and full bar.
Great little venue Id never been to before. Nice looking sports bar in the front, surprisingly large venue in the back. Not ADA accessible though. You have to get up a flight of stairs to get into the venue, then another flight of stairs to the ADA seating, which was not reserved and I only got seats because I got there early. Staff seemed a bit impatient but there was a lot of people there.
Ive been to bar/restaurant portion many times and enjoy their food. It does get busy so keep an eye on the person helping your table. However, Justin is great and quite exceptional. Last night was my first time going to see music in the back on a busy Saturday. If seeing show, I highly suggest going when the music venue doors open and going upstairs to the balcony to get a bar stools. Also, there are great views of the stage up there. Otherwise, its just an open floor plan for standing on the ground floor. There a few chairs against the wall on the ground floor too. If you are seeing the show, get your drinks at the bar inside the music venue. There are less people and you need a plastic cup once inside the music venue anyway. We didnt know that and waited forever at the main bar. Before we could go into the music venue we had to wait to transfer our drinks to a plastic cup, right there at the door. It was awkward. But all in all, a fabulous venue for music, food, drinks and fun.
Bar is a cool spot. Lots of TVs for games and whatnot. I go for the shows. Small venue but it sounds amazing. Best spot in the East Bay for those little up and coming bands, or even the bigger acts stopping by. Close to all the food downtown.
I really enjoyed the food at this new location. Their menu is much improved! The music hall was great. Sounds was decent and the balcony gave us a great view of the stage during the show. They have a very large selection of beers and drinks.
A good variety of great beers, and a fun vibe. We were there with a group after another event and there was plenty of room to be together and chat without yelling (but it was a night without live music so it might be different other nights). The bartender was very friendly and helpful.
Ill reserve the fifth star until Ive had a chance to eat more food there and visit a few times. For now I will say this is a spacious, light and airy conversion of the previous dark pool hall into beer and food venue with attached music space. Theres even an outdoor patio with fire pits.Went here with a group of a about a dozen folks and we were able to reserve a couple of long communal tables. On a Tuesday night it was plenty quiet enough for conversation among us which is a pleasant change from bars that insist on making you shout. They had a good selection of craft beers and a full bar for the non-beer drinkers.Food that I tasted was good and a nice variety of smaller plates often being a twist on more traditional pub fare. For instance I had pork belly nachos - very tasty and good to share. There are some larger seating areas a big group could congregate although not as convenient if you wanted to eat anything that want finger food. The outdoor area does not have heat lamps so in the winter (which is most of summer here too) you will need to dress warm or huddle close to the fire.
Great place to hang out an get sum drinks or even enjoy a nice concert been here a few times for concerts it does get a lil warm inside the venue .
Well-priced pours, amazing selection, roomy interior, games on the other side when theres not an event. Havent been to a show there yet.The bartenders are almost always very attentive and let you sample beers (within reason) in a shot glass before you order.Theres an outdoor patio at the back with a fire pit I think.Yeah its a cool place. It could do with a little more interesting decoration on the inside since its all concrete, but thats just me. Youd probably be there for the beer.
This place was very nice and open, with a wooden top bar vs a metal top bar with spaced barstools. The host was friendly and greeted us promptly and offered us menus. We chose to sit at the bar and the bartender greeted us quickly and gave us food menus. She made our drinks while we waited for our food. She was incredibly nice and patient with my friends dairy allergy. The music was loud enough to hear but subtle enough to talk which was great. Our bill was pretty low even though she waved a drink off for using rum instead of tequila, which we didnt mind. The only reason I put 4 instead of 5 is because the food portion was a bit small. Normally we get anything and share fries and be stuffed but we ended up eating somewhere else after too. This place has big tables for larger groups and a wide selection of beer on tap and alcohol. I definitely recommend this place.
Huge beer selection and great atmosphere. Nice fires outside and plenty of benches and tables to sit with your group.
I came twice. Once to eat and once to party. Very nice place. The staff are very friendly. The mozzarella stuffed meatball was so Damn good. I went to a concert on New years eve and the band played til almost 2am! Theres lots of room inside to sit and the outside area has 2 fire pits. You can drink out there too
The music was fantastic last night other than being way too loud. Had the bass way up to high couldnt hardly hear the rest of the band playing. Nice venue lots of places to get a clear view of the stage. Could have had a few more bar stools around the edge of the room for people to sit on at the counters
Great restaurant, taproom, and concert venue. Food is very solid for pub grub and theres enough variety to make everyone happy (burgers, sandwiches, salads, etc.). They have dozens of beers on tap as well. And the restaurant space is huge! The concert hall is relatively small and intimate--and it sounded great. Well worth the trip from SF for a good show and a good time.
Drinks were great. Ordered the fish and chips and wasnt a fan so they graciously took it back and gave me something else. The servers are awesome.
As far as general hangout spots with decent food and outstanding drinks go this place is the ultimate casual corner to kick it at. The service, music sound quality, outdoor patio earned all 5 stars from me. Definitely a great spot for bdays and other special occasions to.
Nice, old, brick interior vibe with good sound track. Happy Hour with $2 off draft beer. Basic food options, e.g., basket of fries, kale salad. Apple cider average. Most servers friendly. The establishment doesn’t stand out.
This place is awesome. Good food, huge impressive bar . Its a lot cleaner than most venues. The concert area is small but big enough for a good circle pit. Too bad the polite politically correct Berkeley crowd doesnt know how to mosh
Great beer selection and back patio. Very cool music venue attached. Pretty normally bar food selection, but good quality. Downside is maybe a little on the pricey side. Its definitely in our regular rotation. Would recommend (especially on a nice day).
Great beer selection.Decent food if youre looking for bar food.I wish the mac and cheese bites were fried, not baked.
Good venue to watch bands. Not too big, and sound system seemed pretty decent. Saw Infected Mushroom and it felt like an intimate show. Not many places to go to after the show though, and since were not familiar with the area, we ended up going home.
We had never been to this place, but came for a concert and decided to grab a bite before hand. The food was so amazing. Our server was fantastic. A lot of delish beers to try on tap. The back live music venue was awesome with its own bar inside. Absolutely loved this place and we will be back!!
Nice concert venue and quick service. Went to see Dogs in a Pile last night and the kitchen was already closed but I hear the food is pretty good.
I was looking for a place to chill with beer post concert in Downtown Berkeley. I decided to try my luck at Jupiter but decided to give this place a go. It looked insanely huge from the outside and I wasnt disappointed upon stepping in .Amazing beer selection (they even had a couple of Gose and Sour beers) and they have a nice patio as well as booth for a perfect chilling experience. Im glad I came to this place and would definitely bring more of my friends here.Do give this place a try if you want an alternative to Jupiter.
This place is fantastic! The brewery has amazing beer and food and having a music venue at a brewery is such a cool idea. The venue is intimate, but there are plenty of places to get a good view. All around great experience at cornerstone. I will definitely be visiting again.
Spacious bar seating with multiple big screens and a jumbo screen for sporting events. Patio seating in the back. Good variety of ales and ciders on tap. Food is standard bar and grill fare with a flair, so it is not boring. Reasonably priced.Room for bands in the back with about 250 capacity. Saw Y&T and Saxon there. Intimate venue with good sound. There is a smaller bar also during shows.
Music, food and drinks - ALL Good. Really enjoyed the PhuturePrimitive performance, the sound system is top notched. Before the show we savored the Cornerstone burger and fries (regular and sweet potato) Yum. The beers are interesting, great tasting and broad in variety. Be warned, these shows are dance shows. That means standing room only. Thus, not for the couch potato. But who wants to sit when the music makes you want to move!?!
Generic but pleasant bar. Lot’s shows. I went to a Bad Bunny impersonator who was awful, but my roommate went to the midget wrestling night and said he liked it.
Love coming here for dinner/drinks, or to see a concert. Always a great venue
I attended a love performance at Cornerstone and absolutely loved it. The stage area smaller than average but it allows for an intimate feel with the performers. Three crowd surfers later and I realized I would definately attend another show here. Great sound, great people, good times.
This is a great hangout space for people over 21 at night. It has a very good hip modern feel to it. As you may expect everything is pretty expensive and it would make sense if it was an average serving size but it appeared that a $12 menu item was going to leave everyone hungry, and if you wanted to share it you were just going to have a few bites. The most disappointing was the nachos. Its not even a basket full, its a few chips on top of a plate. Probably only like 15 tortilla chips on there. So if youre looking to eat here, you probably shouldnt, but the scene is good and the drinks are well drinks
Been here a couple of times and it’s a fantastic place to watch concerts or sports games and it’s a good vibe with a mixed ages crowd
More of a music venue I think its a little bit too spacious for my taste but its clean and they have tons of beer on tap
Sound quality was exceptional. They made the bands sound better live than they do on their albums. A bit louder/better for the headlining band but that happens at all venues. Merch areas are on the side and out of the way but not impossible to get to. They didnt overpack the venue and Im pretty sure it was sold out. Beer is extremely cheap. $6 for high quality beers! Cant beat that price anywhere. Would definitely go again.
Not sure how the food or drinks are, but its not a great music venue. Bands sound like theyre playing from the back of the room, not the stage.
Great beer selection and quick food service. The little outdoor patio is a great spot to catch lunch. Unfortunately they dont have ping pong and cornhole like the photos suggest.
Overall a very nice venue to catch a show. Sound and lighting were good for the space and ticket pricing was very reasonable. My only qualms are those probably personal to me. The floor was so sticky I almost left my shoe behind twice when trying to move from my spot and felt a lil unwelcomed by a staff member. But again probably just personal to my experience. Id definitely give it another shot
I always like it when a venue combines food, drink, and live music. This place has a great mix of the three, and the owner is a chill dude.
Came here to see the deisel boy show... And was introduced to good smells and a full bar. The inside is very nice mid of contemporary modern and industrial. Nice patio and a good music mix while people are having drinks and snacks.Going to that show found me a nice new place to go in the weekends, check it out!
Kind of hard to get to for event parking, smallish building for the concert hall but an enjoyable venue once a show starts. Definitely feels more like a local rec area for a high school dance than a wild place for a concert. That said, there is a dine-in service that looked great, although I did not partake.Saw Chris Webby here and once the show started the environment became very much not an issue. Just isnt a glamorous location right in the heart of Berkeley.
Cant really say anything about the food or restaurant portion of this place, but the music venue is great. Good sound and really comfortable inside. It doesnt get too hot like some places can when you fill it with people.
Pros:Nice enough bartenders, plenty of space, good music. Decent selection of beers, slightly above average food. Nice outdoor space.Cons:Food was only so so. Beer menu wasnt bad but lacked variety. I had trouble finding good brews outside of the IPA regime. Also, i wasnt allowed to smoke out back because their doors dont work right. Nothing really special about this place.
I would give it a 0 if I could. Extremely racist staff that made me wait an hour and a half for drinks. Its also extremely pricey. Better option would be Kips and they have a cover lol.
This used to be thalassa back in the day. Its been nicely updated and great location to eat and drink. Ive been here plenty of times to grab a beer and watch sports, but I never ate here before. So I cant say how good the food is. In the back by the restrooms, there is a set of double doors where concerts or special events are held. Every time I come, theres is always some one either performing or some other activity. Great hang out spot if anything
Good atmosphere, good music, huge alcohol selection. My ding comes from the bartenders. Bartenders on a Friday night.. not so much. My friend stood there for 25 minutes without a Hey, how are you doing? Need anything? Same with me. My bartender asked me what the tab was when I closed out, then BSd with some other patron, made a few drinks, came back and asked for my last name AGAIN, did a few more things.. and finally came back with my tab. Not the greatest. Again, good atmosphere, not the greatest bar service.
Brandi reserved seats for me in the balcony so I wouldnt have to stand. The beer was good, Particle was awesome, and prices were very reasonable. Looking forward to another show! Great venue!
Very sportsball-oriented. There were 3 giant monitors, playing 3 different sports. The physical venue was very open and airy.
Really good atmosphere. They are a large bar. Plenty of beers on tap and liquor. The food is good. They have some smaller snack options. They also do live music. Cozy stage with their own bar in the back. Staff is great. Only thing is dont sit at end of the bar. Its hard to get attention for drinks. Try sitting more center for faster service.
Ive come here a few times and Im really happy that cornerstone is open - it is a necessary addition to the bars in Berkeley. Lots of space, a great beer selection and decent food. I wasnt particularly impressed by the fries (Tap Haus is way better there), but they have a substantial menu and the burger was quite good. Will definitely be coming back.
The food is gross. The chef is apparently not receptive when it comes to constructive criticism (to him, simple food means lacking in flavor and generally unpalatable). I visited to try the food twice: once when they first opened the kitchen (which is when you would expect them to put their best foot forward), then again recently, because I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. The music venue is cool. The recreational activities are fun. The liquor selection is nothing to write home about. The owner is only passionate about filling his pockets and getting chummy with college girls in the VIP section during shows. But hey, what do you expect from that super classy old guy who runs Pappys? There are too many good places in Berkeley to waste ones time helping this slob line his pockets.
This place is a gem. The acoustics are great, its never overcrowded, and the coat check is super convenient. Ive driven over from SF twice for shows, and have not been disappointed yet!
Wonderful live music. The beer selections were alright. Our server was sweet, although it took us a very long time to check out even if we had asked for the check. We needed to approach the server because it took that long.
I remember coming here when it was Thalassa. The pool tables are gone and the place has a nice makeover. Food was good, and the beer selection was great. Even has some outdoor seating and live music. I would definitely come back again. Good place to grab drinks on Shattuck.
I love the small music venues and this one was very quaint. It was well worth the weeknight show to see Silverstein again so soon after the Sacramento show. Had it been a weekend show we could have enjoyed it a little more.
Great bar and venue! Had a blast here and would definitely come back. Drove for an hour to get there and dont regret it at all.
Great concert venue, drinks were great wish they served some late night bites, 4 star only because I left the place hungry, otherwise groovy spot.
My oldest daughter took me to see Stephanie Lambring, Tejon Street Corner Thieves and Amigo the Devil tonight. What a great show. All three acts were awesome. Love the Cornerstone venue, cant wait to see more events. Thanks Misty! Love you!Ps. Excellent food!
I got to see several of my favorite bands live and it was a surreal experience. The venue is well ventilated, well lit, and overall amazing. Totally worth the drive from Roseville!!!
Great selection of beer, tasty food, and a wonderful venue to see a small intimate concert - not a bad view in the house
Good beer selection. Lots of seating. If it is cold, bring a sweater/jacket. Whatever the temp is outside is what it is in there, from what I have seen. But I appreciate the fresh air.
Any burger that has mac and cheese and pulled pork gets 5 stars in my book! I went for lunch. Staff was super nice! Good food. Great drinks. Very nice venue.
Like the place itself. Ripe and the bands last night 9/3/21 were great however, Cornerstones sound system and sound man made all the bands sound bad. The base was up way to high so hearing the the words above the sound difficult.I won’t come back to that again; it was painful.Sincerely,Lisa
We were seated quickly then ignored. Our waiter told us hed be right with us, then rather than coming to us he went and flirted with a waitress. We waited 10 minutes before getting up. The hostess was rude about the whole thing and said we should have been patient. They only had maybe 10 tables in there all he had to do was take our order. Will not be returning.
Nice place!Very attentive waiter, kept checking on us and making sure we were all doing okay.
Incredible venue EZ parking E-Z parking great staff nice service Great band highly recommend if you like music at all wonderful been going to concerts for 50 years this was one of my favorite times ever seeing stick figure was awesome so glad that they could host this band for me great friendly crowd highly
Stumbled on this place looking for some where new to eat. Great beer & great food, I really enjoyed this place, they had a Belgium Delirium beer that took me visiting the Delirium in Brussels Belgium. I had the grilled chicken sandwich & it was fantastic. My new favorite spot, then I realized I was actually sitting in the old Thalassa pool hall lol.
Nice big bar with a huge covered hall for performance. Warm and cozy backyard too. Line of 20 types of beers 🍻
Went on a Saturday night, the place was busy but not so packed that we couldnt get a table. We fiyt there while the food and table service was still available but they were really nice about getting us just drinks and then letting us know when the food and table service woukd be ending. All staff were nice, even the ones that had to ask people who were too drunk to leave. I want but I got to watch some young girls get bounced. 🤣
