Small venue, cramped. Stage was too low to see the bands playing. No ventilation l, very hot inside. Drinks were a good price. Staff was great.
Small personal venue to see great live music and enjoy the atmosphere. Yeah, its loud. Yep, its crowded. Its gonna be! Its definitely worth going to see your favorite band play though!
Ive been fortunate to have seen full devil jacket (2016), mushroomhead(2015), and nonpoint(2024) here. Not a bad little spot for a rock show,🤘
Great venue for a small show! Saw Larry Fleet and it was a good show. Standing room general admission concerts. You will stand for hours. If you need a cushy seat in club level so you can be on your phone this is not the place for you.If you are there for the music and appreciate seeing someone in a small venue then it is amazing.
Hottest venue I’ve ever been to in my life. Zero ac. Zero ventilation, so you feel like you’re suffocating the whole time.Roof is too low to actually see the bands, and they shine stage lights in your face the entire time.Security didn’t know how to catch crowd surfers and dropped multiple people, members of other bands had to catch the surfers so nobody got hurt.Had multiple cops standing around doing absolutely nothing. No re entry, so you can’t put merch in your car, you have to carry it. The whole show.Only gets one star because the bands were good and I can’t give zero.
Honestly, Ive visited Zydeco many times over the years. Went last night and while the show itself was fun, their a/c situation was HORRIBLE (even the bands were commenting on it) and most of the stalls in the girls restroom didnt even lock or stayed all the way closed. Unless they can get their air figured out, may be my last Zydeco trip. I listened to the final set from the back and then moved outside to the steps. Giving two stars because the bar staff was nice. They saved a one star review.
I appreciate the wide variety of bands but i feel like im dying when i go here. the ceiling is so low that you cant see the band that you paid to see. the ventilation system is nonexistent so youre barely able to breathe. the picture is from me standing on the side of the venue where theres almost a box built? its hard to explain
For my first time ever at the venue I would say my first impression is that is a very Urban fun kind of hit place to be it seems like no matter the music the people are well Blended while around a no one got too crazy seem like some people are over friendly but thats anywhere you go the staff the performers and all top-notch will definitely use then you again and definitely recommend to others.
The only draw back to seeing a concert here is Its just so darn hot inside
Decent venue for live music. Tough to see the stage unless youre on the front row.
This was by far the worst concert/event venue I have ever been to. I have been to a few events and shows here and none of the experiences I have had have been good. However, the recent concert I attended here was the last straw. I got to the venue right at door opening to get a good view and was still not able to find a spot where I could see a single thing during the show (see image attached). The ceilings are very low which make are very claustrophobia-inducing. The acoustics were also awful and made it really hard to understand the artists. It was so crowded and hot the whole concert that a girl passed out during the show and the show had to be stopped. The lighting is awful before and after events making it hard to see to get in and out. The usual clientele of the bar were also in attendance at the concert and were extremely rude to the artist and other guests by talking loudly during the set, yelling at the artists, taking photos with flash, and pushing through the crowd. They were obviously not fans of the artists as they asked if the artist was a person and a band and joked about not knowing the words to the songs. The space was also filled with vape smoke which made it even more humid and hard to breathe. Bags are also not searched at the door which made me feel extremely unsafe. Concert goers were also forced to exit through the bar out of the fire exit instead of out of the usual exit with bar clientele blocking the pathway to the exit making it hard to leave and honestly unsafe. As for the other events I have attended, one was a paid after party and the venue was doubled book so they held the event was held in the actual bar safe which again made it unbearably crowded and the event attendees were mixed with the usual clientele who were very rude and made several racist comments. I have also been to the bar on a night without a specific event and the culture the bar encourages is quite frankly awful. I was groped unprovoked while I was just trying to go to the restroom and have heard tales of similar experiences from other women at the bar. This makes me feel again incredibly unsafe. Overall I would highly recommend avoiding this place at all costs and book any events/concerts at other venues around the city like Saturn or Iron City.
Ive attended several concerts at Zydeco over the past two decades. While the performing artists have always been great, the venue leaves many things to be desired. Its always baffled me that people will pay good money for a live concert, then stand in the crowd yelling and screaming at each other over the music. Zydeco has consistently been among the worst venues for this obnoxious behavior. It would benefit the venue to post at the door, The rest of us are here for the show, not your conversations. If you cant shut up, take it outside! Last night was the worst experience Ive ever had.Honestly, the place should be re-named Purgatory or Styx, as standing in the crowd feels more like a stage between here and Hell. More often than not, the ventilation/air conditioning in the building seems to be out of commission, so the atmosphere is usually hot, stifling. We LOVE the Red Clay Strays, and have also seen them in Mobile and Nashville, but we decided to leave early last night because of the crowd and the conditions. And, next time we see them or any other act, we wont patronize Zydeco.
The bartenders dont pour the same at all. One will make you a good drink and another will make a weak one. The crowd was mixed depending on the concert. Lots of college kids who cant handle their beverages.
Always a good show at the house that swingline built.
I am new in town and love live music so I was excited to see a great act at a great price. But you get what you pay for. The staff was very friendly and it was easy to get a drink from the outdoor patio. But sadly, I will not be back. This is a very small venue with a very low ceiling and it felt extremely claustrophobic-like. We stayed for one song and left because it was so hot and crowded in the small space. We couldnt see the performer on the stage. Not the type of experience we were hoping for.
Great place with a friendly staff. Enjoyed the awesome music!
This is My go to spot for concerts and get togethers love the vibes love the energy the security is top notch great drink selection only down fall is finding parking but its birmingham what do you expect lol 😆
We went to see a concert upstairs and had a great time. Bartenders were prompt and had great attitudes. The drinks were super cheap, we were expecting a $60-70 tab that ended up only being $20. The bathrooms stalls sucked because a few of them didnt lock and it was dark and dingy in there.
My wife and I drove 2 hours from NW Alabama on March 24th to see Wade Bowen. First time at Zydecos and we loved it. Is the ceiling low? Yep. Is it hard to see the bands on the stage from the back ? Yeah kinda. BUT, if you want to see someone in a intimate place and not be 500 yards from the stage, this is the place to be. AC works great in there. Bartenders were really cool and fast. Beer was very reasonable and super cold. If you go to the bar and order some strange, hippie, beach drink, well you are going to wait a while. Just grab you a couple of beers or a Jack n Coke and keep it moving. The guys running sound did a hell of a job. Zydecos sound guys had the opening act Jacob Stelly sounding killer. To the point that we even bought merch from the guy and wed never heard of him but he sounded really good. Of course Wade Bowen had his own sound guys but it was still Zydecos PA and he sounded killer. Now lets get to the security guys in the red polo shirts. All I can say is that they were super friendly and professional. I kept having to walk outside by the steps and take phone calls due to severe tornados moving thru our hometown and causing a lot of damage. One of the security guys asked me if everything was ok cause i kept stepping outside to talk on my phone getting weather updates from friends and family back home. I told him about the tornados and he said if my wife and I needed anything or any kind of help to let him know. Class act gesture from that staff member. Ive read reviews on here about security there throwing people down flights of stairs. Girls saying their drinks were spiked etc.. I just cant see that happening. That being said, we were at a country show. Wade Bowen, Larry Fleet, Chris Knight, The Steel Woods etc are going to be older crowds who act a whole lot different. We will definitely be back to a show sometime in the near future. My advice is, get there early. My wife is short so we got there in enough time to get close to the front so she could see. Plan everything out. Parking wasnt too bad at all but we got there early and parked around back. My wife and I are older folks but we had a hell of a time at Zydecos seeing Wade Bowen. We sure hope they book him again. Yall keep up the good work.
The staff here is fantastic; theyre all really nice and professional, and the drinks are pretty cheap. When it comes to being a music venue, though, this is not my favorite in town. The acoustics are pretty awful which results in a pretty bad audio mix. I will continue to go to Zydeco when bands I love play there, but Ill be displeased with the sound quality when I do, unfortunately.
Never been to the bar, but have always gone there for shows in the upstairs venue. Some love it, others hate it. Personally, I think its great for music as it provides a more intimate setting for fans to watch their favorite acts. Fair warning: the upstairs ceiling is very low and if you stand next to the speakers during a show, your ears will ring for days.
Ive seen quite a few shows here and love how laid back everything is. Be prepared to arrive early if actually serling the bed is important to you. Otherwise youll see nothing but backs and heads. In the summer come as naked as possible cause it get HOT! Its a great Birmingham venue. Go!
My first time here was meh. There was an Indian after party to some dance event going on at the top floor and some bid day party for some fraternities and sororities going on at the bottom. The Indian after party was dead with no people. The frat party was ok, but the guys and girls were standing in circles in their own groups and werent really open to socializing with strangers like me, so it was whatever. I tried talking to a few people and then gave up and left when I got some low energy responses. The crowd here is mostly awkward late teenagers with high libidos looking for a lay among their friends, so it isnt going to be great for socializing and making friends.
The very low ceilings mean the PA is right at ear level and is crazy loud if youre close to the stage. I would recommend bringing earplugs because other than that its pretty cool! If you want to buy earplugs at the venue bring quarters because if you dont youll need to go on a Mario 64 typed of adventure to collect enough coins since for some reason earplugs are in an old gumball machine. I dont know anyone that carries coins around anymore, and barely anyone even has cash. Why not just put them behind the bar? I had to go to an ATM so I could get cash out so I could go try to exchange it for coins so I could get earplugs.
Went to a concert here and absolutely loved it! Only gave 4 stars instead of 5 because of the parking situation. There was also a support pole towards the front center of the stage, and I would rather have a support pole slightly blocking my view than to have the roof come down. The stage was good and the sound was great. I dont know about the bar since I dont drink, but they did have three bartenders working and it didnt seem like anyone had a long wait. The bathroom was a lot cleaner than I was expecting. Overall, had a good experience and would go back if someone that I really wanted to see was performing.
Always enjoy the shows here, but bathrooms really need some TLC.
Small. Hot. Low ball....real hole in the wallish. Drinks trash....like really...trash. wrong club to visit if you arent a everyday club goer. Too small for concerts. No A.C.....hot muggy and dirty. Im grown and felt like I was at a teen club.
Really cool and unique venue. Theres multiple levels and rooms. Ive been here for a private event and for a concert. For concerts, the ceiling is a little low and the sound not perfect, but theyve definitely maximized the functionality of the space. There is an outside area with heaters and is really enjoyable iftl the weather is nice
I love Zydeco and have been to many shows here but last night at the Gideon show security was our of hand. I witnessed multiple people getting kicked out and one of the security guards could have seriously hurt or even killed one of the guys they were kicking out cause he literally threw him down a flight of steps.I love zydeco but Iif thats the way you treat your guest then I dont want any part of it. That security guard does not need to be working there anymore.
I used to love this place 15 years ago what I was going to punk rock shows slim and skulls in the pit. Its still the same place for a fairly intimate Indy show it has a bar that may or may not have entertainment going on that evening. But honestly the kind of people that go to that bar arent really the folks that I enjoy hanging out with
Awesome small standing room venue. Felt like friends with the entertainment because of the vibe of the place, despite the big names they book. Fun night!
If I could give it a negative review I would . Probably the worst place in BirminghamTo visit
The Meet and Greet with Kameron Marlowe was Awesome! I had a Blast! Everything was on point! The Venue, Bartender, the Crowd and even my Uber was perfect! One of the best nights Ive had in a long long time!! Thank you! I needed it!
Great venue. Bartenders were great. There was an incident where a young lady has to mace a man harassing her. Guards outside attempted to resolve but the man clearly didnt care
Not a bad venue. Backstage isnt nice but its large with a private bathroom. Decent stage, obstruction free dance/pit/mosh floor. Its on a large hill so loading isnt the easiest but there are far worse venues.
Not the best place for live music. Website says open 7 pm for pub and food nope 8 at doors for live music. I didnt check the food but prices look like 1979 lol . Lots of puking drunk college girls
Weirdest setup for a music venue I have been to. The upper level has extremely low ceilings that make it pretty hard to see the performers on stage if you are not up front against the guard rails. It can get packed pretty quickly and doesnt seem to have much in the way of ventilation so be prepared to be hot and sweaty, even at the back of the venue. They do have a cool outside patio that you can hang out at, as well as a lower area with a bar and pool tables.
Paul was amazing! He made the night with great drinks. He was amazing at developing new and amazing drinks! 10/10 would recommend for the atmosphere!
I had a wonderful time seeing Benjamin time and they lost dog Street band play and it is very quite nice venue and everyone was awesome. Then I went into their bars and the bouncer is a little handsy and Im handicapped my left leg does not work very well, my knee doesnt function right. I was leaving the location and I had a drink in my hand, I was screamed at the leave due to closing and this gentleman was forcing me back somewhere I was asked.to leave. So I was shoved sideways back into the establishment. My does not go side to side and I am now sitting at my car in a lot of pain because I was shoved into the the building by an employee. I think thats completely inappropriate and if youre looking to have a decent time. Go for the shows but I wouldnt stick around.
Awesome venue, they have really improved the stage. And the sound is incredibly improved, it doesnt hurt your ears anymore. My one complaint: The show was rained almost out. Storming hard outside, and a security crew was marching around looking for something to do. That was bull. Bad management on THAT one!
This was a halfway decent venue. Its tiny, dark, dank, bathrooms are kinda gross and the stall doors may or may not lock. The acoustics were somewhat lacking. I cant comment on the quality of the drinks or their prices, being that (due to unfortunate circumstances beyond my control) I was not able to partake in any debauchery.Loved seeing Badflower here though. The guys seemed pleased with the venue.Oh, and shout out to the homeless guy who broke into my friends car for us when she locked her keys in it. This guy was a hella lot cheaper than AAA and quicker.
Had a great time at the Jelly Roll show. Parked for free across the street. The line moved fast outside. All the staff was working hard and was very friendly but it does need to step it up on the air conditioning it was way to hot inside and the ladies restroom needed toilet paper. All in all I will be going back in the future and maybe by then these things will be corrected. Keep up all the good work Zydeco. Great place for a small show... 👍
Went for the first time last night for a comedy show. Great space loved the patio space to be able to get fresh air. Bar service was awesome cant wait for the next time we go!
This cozy little nook on Southside features an outdoor bar & patio and multiple levels. Zydeco brings in a number of live music bands from all over the world on a regular basis. A decent amount of off-street parking is available, and the staff is friendly. Drinks arent half bad, either.
Erra! They played live here and the sound was great. Took a star away because of the 10 dollar minimum at the bar. Restrooms could use a little bit of a cleaning too. Overall, nice crowd and I was satisfied with my overall expierience.
Its too small of a venue for the artist we were attending. The ventilation isnt good and it was SO hot! Its definitely a chill little spot with good drinks. Steer clear if its crowded though!!!
I really enjoyed this place. Lived in Birmingham for years and never heard of it. But went with my son to see Slaughter to Prevail and Oceano. Not really my music style but they had a set up for everyone. Pool/Diner/Bar area down stairs. Mid level outside Bar like a court yard type deal and upper level concert/band / bar area. Impressed!
Ive been a few times. The DJ plays a lot of songs that are weird to dance to. Its best to go when they host a party or college event because it can be dead sometimes. You can still have fun if youre going with a group of friends and dont want to go far from UAB
Easily one of the worst sounding concert venues Ive ever been to. The bass guitar was so loud that the speakers were distorting. I couldnt hear the vocals, guitars, or drums. At times I couldnt even tell what song was being played because it was just a roar of speaker distortion at about 120 Dbs. Throughout the night the sound guy just kept turning it up, which is NOT A SOLUTION FOR A BAD MIX!! Its also pretty indicative of ear-fatigue. I always wear ear plugs at concerts (because I care about my ears), but this show sounded like absolute garbage with or without ear plugs. I honestly shouldve requested a refund, but then that means it wouldve taken money out of the bands pockets, and this clearly wasnt their fault. At one point the singer came out into the crowd and said wow, this is what it sounds like out here!?Also, the band got into a verbal altercation with security and had to stop the show because security decided to stop doing their job. Security then left the stage and sulked around in the crowd the rest of the night while the bands roadies had to help out the crowd surfers. On the positive side, the bartenders were good, the drinks reasonably priced, and the patio area is pretty nice. Didnt go into the downstairs pub area.Ive seen the list of bands that have played at this venue, its pretty impressive. I really hope I had an atypical experience, but as I was walking to my car I heard a group of guys behind me say, Why do we even pay money to go to such a terrible venue? Its never good. Thats my sentiment. I wont be back.
Im from FL I went there to see Struggle Jennings and the #angelsandoutlaws it was a awesome venue tho it had a downstairs area and u could walk up the steps to a nice patio with corn hole set up and outdoor bar and then the upstairs where the concert took place was awesome also nice place highly recommended
Cool, intimate venue. Bar downstairs, on patio, and in stage area. Very low ceilings and can get pretty warm. Good security crew and great sound. Definitely will return
Great place for shows, local band or not its always a all around good experience.
Had an absolute great time just remember no smoking inside have an outside patio with bar to smoke .. highly recommend..
Zydeco is one of my favorite stages to Grace in Birmingham. The people who work the venue are always friendly and very solution-oriented if there ever was a problem to present itself. Bartenders are extremely attractive and gracious in their services. The sound guy upstairs is a true professional and that was.very much appreciated. As far as a hangout spot, this is college friendly. Three bars in total, pool tables and TVs downstairs, spacious patio with tables and chairs and a well-crafted stage/music arena upstairs. Greatly recommend this place for anyone looking for entertainment throughout the week. Theyve had performers like Roscoe Dash, Waka Flocka and Big K.R.I.T. so dont think this is just a one sided venue. All walks of life are welcomed!!
5 stars despite shortcomings in areas of hospitable service and a decent cocktail or food selection. Why? The caliber of talent they bring in is phenomenal. Id rather them continue to focus on bringing great music to AL than serving great food, though I do miss the days of coming early for ettoufe pre-show. And, a good martini pairs so well with great music..
Cool place to hang out. If downstairs which is not a good place for a large Band. The pool tables are in the way of the Band & customers get hit by other customers with pool-Q. Security is great, they dont mess around.
Doobie and the rest of the boys were awesome and I had a great time at this venue! 10 ☆s and 2👍
Lost Dog Street Band and Matt Heckler performed an amazing show. The staff was very friendly and absolutely helpful with any questions. This is the 8th or 9th time Ive been to Zydeco in years. I cant complain. A great small venue to catch your favorite artists.
NOT an LGBT friendly establishment unless you want to get jumped by a bunch of inbreds. Security doesn’t care about your safety as long as the club is making money.
Zydeco is one of the best bars in the Birmingham area. Reasonably priced drinks in a relaxed atmosphere. Live music is always fun to hear on the patio. Even during the Coronavirus pandemic, they make sure everyone is socially distancing and wearing masks. Very great times!
Came to see chase Mathew’s here. Concert area was hot, couldn’t really see much. But, everything else was good. Just come early if your coming to see a concert.
This place is always having great bands coming through. It can get a little hot inside but its a metal show so who cares about that lol good vibes but no stage dives lol
I had gone there without cash. Thre was a $5 cover. Asked the bouncer to let me in to use the ATM to get cash. It wasnt working. went back to the guy and he ended up letting me in anyways. Great service, the DJ is open to suggestions from the crowd and cant beat Thursday night deals.
Great venue, most of the staff ate friendly, just wish it had better acoustic. That being said, the location is perfect and the smokers deck is beautiful, plus they book some great talent!
The thing this venue offers that, imo, is unique to Birmingham, is the live music quality and price combination. They get Texas County and real talent in other geenres, usually for $15 to $25. Bartenders arw quick and friendly. Bathrooms are subpar, but no worse than a football stadium or something. Tell someone youre going here, and you may get a negative reaction. Its really unwarranted. Its just the age of the place. Its been around forever, and people think its a dirty college bar from their old days. Well, downstairs is. But, if a band you enjoy is playing, buy the tickets. They wont be expensive & wont have additional fees. Be sure to check seating availability, if any.
Great place for live shows. Parking is decent. The upper room needs to have the roof raised along with the stage height should be raised. The staff and security were amazing.
Only been there for rock concerts. Was once a great venue, but seems like concerts are happening less and less. I blame Asking Alexandria for this one.Regardless, many great memories and hearing loss happened here. Going to miss the shows here
Google Markus Coke . -3 star establishment. Can you answer my interrogatories ? Thanks it’s only been 2 years
Came to see Dixon Dallas and was absolutely amazing 🤩🤩 staff is ridiculously friendly was worth the drive from Montgomery
Music was great. Got to see Jelly Roll but it was super packed in there and they didnt have enough fans or any air running. I literally seen people passing out on the floor and not being taking care of very well.
The security team led by Chris Russell is the epitome of professional. Best staff in Birmingham. They are the good people, the ones you want on your side. Ability to see what is really going on is great.
Bartenders = fantastic! Fun! Professional! All other staff (security) = rude, unprofessional,Buyer beware! Save it for a cleaner more professional environment, unless your 16,
Saw obituary last night great show, just wish the roof was a little higher but not that big of a deal other than that overall great venue
One of my favorite venues. Smaller place but the sound is always grrrrreat!! You can always feel the music. Its where you wanna see your fav band at.
Drove from atlanta to see the whitechapel show. Waited in a line in the rain for over an hour even though we bought tickets ahead of time. And the venue itself was garbage. Worst concert venue Ive probably ever been to. We missed the first two bands because of the line. And the stage floor goes up the closer you get so you could barely see anything unless your really close and the place was packed like sardines so it was near impossible to see. Ill never come to this venue for a show again.
This is one of my favorite venues. Ive seen everyone from mushroom head to Lorna shore . Great place
Would love to give an actual review but unfortunately I couldnt even park to attend the concert we paid to see. There is absolutely no parking near the building dont waste your money.
There is just something about rednecks getting together in a dark place that is just too overwhelming. Not only was this place by far the worst audio system I have ever heard in a concert but, there security guy had to be refs from the YMCA. There were multiple fights that, they just let happen because they were afraid to break it up. To add about the audio system, I would rather cut my wrist then have to listen to that horrible audio system again. The agony of having to listen to it made me cringe the whole entire concert.
Went to see bad flower was great but this guy in a red shirt and red hat took our drinks in the middle of the show and just walked off and threw them away
Saw Demun Jones, Adam Calhoun, Brodnax, and Dusty Leigh here. Small venue, but still good to have places like this to listen to live music.
I know so, so many horror stories of people being roofied at Zydeco, robbed at Zydeco, and come in crossfire from drive by shootings. Avoid Zydeco on busy nights, bar and bouncers do not watch for drinks being drugged (or atleast not well enough). I know people who walk into Zydeco, get one drink, and lose 4 hours of time. It’s not okay and management really needs to crack down on these issues.
The sound was absolute garbage. The ceiling was soooo low. The stage had to only be a foot off the ground. Im 63 and I was standing towards the back and couldnt even see any of the bands ridiculous haircuts. The ventilation was completely non existent. I felt like I walked into the Froomundamabawls rain forest of Armpitstankia. Will not be returning.
Venue/bar brings some good music, but low ceilings and no air flow in band room. Makes for a very hot night out during September in Alabama.
This place is a standing sauna in the summertime. I feel like I was gonna melt or die from the heat and humidity.. BUT it was fun to be upclose to the performers. surreal to be so close
Stage is still horrible, but the venue has really cleaned up in the last couple of years. I mean really cleaned up. My shoes werent stuck to the floor this last time.
Great bartenders and friendly security staff.
Sound system was terrible. Stage should be set higher so people towards the back can get a good view of the performers. They book good acts though
Great venue, staff, and fairly priced drinks.. Space could be bigger and more ventilated, but I had a blast at Struggle Jennings concert there, in 2019 and 2021!
Bullcrap experience. Travelled 3 hours. Went to see as I lay dying. Moshing in the mosh pit with everyone, then SECURITY grabs me in a CHOKEHOLD. The man choked me while cussing in my face until I fell to the ground unable to breathe. Threatening that he would whoop my A** if I did it again. I get up and storm out. While Im outside talking to security he runs out what are you crying about now then gets in my face saying he would beat my A** again. I tell the man Im leaving and did nothing wrong. While Im leaving, he is still yelling and cussing at me. THE SECURITY GAURD. I leave the venue and find a cop. I was gonna file a report until the owner came out and said the man was fired and just left. Very unprofessional place. I was assaulted by a security gaurd here. I do not recommend this place for anyone. Unsafe to have fun at a METAL concert without getting assaulted, for being in a mosh pit.
Really nice place. Good food and drink. Great atmosphere. Patio 2 DJs 2 floors. However it is 18 & up. But no drama 😀
Great venue for small concerts and to hang out with friends and family. The venue brings in some big names and new upcoming bands.
Great show but.... they should really fix the bathroom to have doors and also fix the roof that someone had put a hole in... other then that a alright venue.
The personnel is the life of the joint. Lovable bartenders and atmosphere! Some pretty attractive bouncers, too. 😜 Try the Fruit Loop or anything the bartenders give you, literally.
The Scarface concert was good. The opening acts werent amazing but to hear him, it was worth it. The drink prices were amazing!
My first time going here, cool smaller venue. Staff was wonderful, sound was outstanding. Will definitely be going back!
The place is clean an the bands where over the topThe top bar in bham around the uab areaI recommend so highly for those that never been should try it a least a couple of times the guy that running it should get a gold star
Small venue. Not overly crowded though. Only were upstairs for a live concert so can not comment on the bar area downstairs.
First time! New Years Eve with More Cowbell! Younger crowd, wow! but everybody was cool, even the one fight I saw was handled quickly and efficiently lol!
Nice to see they are expanding musically from the typical jam band stuff they usually book. Club is no frills and has a great outside area.
Came here for St Paddy’s day after the pub and it was a good time. Had discounted beers and 2 dollar corned beef hash tacos which were very good.
Nice place to have a good time and they have good security and the concert was great ...running on the walls is a great band ..had fun friday night
Gibbs made it worth it. Would have been a lot better if the 63 bouncer didnt block everybodys view that was on the left side...
Im here in town because my daughter is sick in UAB. Im staying close to Zydeco and saw that Devin the Dude would be in concert so I decided to go. I had a ball and the house drinks were exceptional at a good price
Horrible, nasty, venue. The owners and operators do not take care of this place at all. Pretty sure they got roaches and the place is so poorly ventilated it smelt of a giant room of hot breath. All you could smell in the air was peoples breath. Just nasty.
Staff is nice but I feel the ceiling is too low, I have to make sure I dont hit my head. But they get great bands to play
Good band, cheap drinks, and good atmosphere
Could not go in because theh said that the bar was closing soon so no more alcohol. I was not going there for alcohol just to have a nice time. So I left. The man at thev entrance didnt even try to welcome me in. So sad.
A really nice venue with a good staff, good sound and indoor/outdoor hang spots.Good times.
Great local hole in the wall with frequently great musical artist passing through unannounced. Heard Kid Rock and Uncle Cracker back in the day for $5
Cool divey small venue with big sound and big patio, great to see a band. No chairs but why would you want to sit?
Zydeco is a staple of the Birmingham music scene. They book everyone from your local country singers to jam bands on the rise to world-touring European metal bands! Intimate stages, loud music, huge outdoor patio, great bar food, cold beers.. what more could you need?
Great venue for new acts or bands. Intimate setting with plenty of room.
Good venue, columns block the stage depending on where youre standing and they have a no hardcore dancing sign.
Venue is standard but the events arw exceptional!! I feel that the performers tend to be more social at Zydeco than other spots in town.
Great place for small concerts. Attractive bartender. Alcohol is priced well.
Good concert venue been around forever it seems but its still a fun place
Great venue! Very small which means a very up close and personal experience with the bands which is what I love!
Worse place ever for a concert, I will never spend another dime here, you cant even see the performer from the audience, its extra hot, look AWFUL! If i could have gave 0 stars I would have.
Pretty chill place, drinks are decent priced, music was really good. Overall a fun time
Great small venue. Been here a few times.
Waited 2 hours for the band, never actually saw them. Service and staff were good but dont want to stand around for 2 hours.
It may not be the biggest venu but it sure does have the home feel to it. I love this place for concerts.
Came to see Struggle Jenning, got to see Yelawolf, and had a great time. Small place but theres not a bad seat anywhere inside
Badflower and Dead Sara were on fire. Small venue, great drinks and staff! Would go again!
One of the most underrated venues considering the amount of amazing artist that come through there.
Nice music venue. Inexpensive drinks and a friendly staff. Shout out to big Bob
This was the most amazing night of my life and I had so much fun! Zydeco was an amazing venue to enjoy bands at!
Loved seeing Circa Survive, but I wish there was a VIP option with seating by the bar or something.
“You gotta wear your mask when you go in the door and at the bar. Everything else is fine!”Almost to capacity.Shame.
Got to see JOE NICHOLS tonightTHANKS TO WZZK 104.7 FM & ZYDECO FOR MAKING THIS POSSIBLE. #❤LOVEWZZK&JOE❤#Got pictures with Dana and Craig and later with JOE!!!! HAD A GREAT TIME.
Great concert venue, probably the best one in Birmingham
Been here a few times now, only to watch live shows, relaxed place to enjoy music and have a drink with friends
This is the best place to park for the Fourth of July fireworks display!! Arrive early because parking can be nonexistent!👍👍😁🇺🇸
Sweet venue, nice local beer selection!
The best drinks! I’ve only been here for a glow rage party, but great venue.
I did not mean to give them any stars,s upstairs stinks the floor was sticky and that was at the beginning of the night after, the place smelled of stale beer, there was people with multiple drinks in their hands,it was these people were not there to have a few drinks and a good time they were there to get drunk and the bar had no problems selling them the alcohol, the guy working the gate at the bottom of the stairs no problems letting people stumble on down the road I witnessed multiple people who are drunk get into their vehicles and drive away, I WILL NOT RETURNED
Good place to see a band. Very friendly bartenders and bouncer with super cool outdoor layout.
Wonderful atmosphere! The Sound system, and staff were immaculate! Ill most definitely return.👍
Amazing venue, to play, and see a show, fantastic owmer and great employees! Love it !
Always have a great time here. The chicken sandwich is not bad at all for bar food either.
I went for a concert it was very small and extremely hot in the inside no fans or air conditioning.
Zydeco is one of the view music venues left in town worth going to. The staff is curteous and the drink specials make the place a bargain.
Acoustics are pretty miserable but the bands and fans make up for it 😁
Always events going on, drink specials are great. Thursday are pretty much college nights
Bouncers are power hungry and will kick out someone for breathing incorrectly. Was trying to pay to get in and I stepped to the side and the bouncer accused me of trying to sneak in and threatened me.
Benny is the best security guard here we had a situation where a young guy push a young lady which caused an issue where he threw out a beer from a young man yet is was the wrong guy he corrected it and made sure the right guy was gone and everyone had a great time!!!
Great place to go catch a concert. Serves food, and always a fun time!
Great environment, great food, great drinks, all around vibe
Great venue in bham. Definitely a must if youve never been.
18 and up bar not really busy during summer but when UAB starts back gets more crowded.
Great venue for people who like smaller venues. I enjoy going here.
A musical must go-to place in Birmingham. I have seen many great shows here
We saw Mac Sabbath here, and the audience was very responsive.A fine venue.
JJ, Jeffery, and Omar were very helpful. Great employees, makes me want to come back.
If you love rock and roll, youll love this place. Its the definition of Rock & Roll!
Went to a concert there and there was 200+ people there and they did not have the air conditioning on in the building. Worst experience ever.
We enjoy going here to hear bands play. Nice venue.
The show was great but more seating would be really good.
Great place to shoot pool or see a show at the upstairs venue. Been going for years.
I have so many memories of going to Zydeco to see shows over the past few years. They bring some of the best acts out there. Props to yall!
Its a dive, but somehow they pull in an unreasonable number of shows that youd never expect to be there compared with other venues and cities
Awesome concert great guys working it yall keep up the good work
Good music, good food & drinks, lively crowd, friendly employees! Brings good music and shows to the city
Fun place for dancing and drinking, went on a Halloween event and was pretty fun.
Great venue for live music and drinks.
Curren$y concert was too live. First time and the venue and loved every second
First time, felt welcomed by employees, drink prices are fair and will be back again!
Great bands! Empire Springs and Made Desolate. Great venue!
