WOW! Came for the catbus collective’s anime/Ghibli jazz night and ended up staying for their later show as well. Knocked it out of the park! Great drinks, great vibes, great music. Small menu selection (definitely eat beforehand, but the bar snacks are super tasty if you’re hungry and in a pinch!) definitely would recommend!(Price per person includes about $22 ticket for a seat at a table, drink, and snack!)

Ive come here for 3 separate shows but have to say that the Catbus Collectives Studio Ghibli / Anime Night was one of my favorite performances thus far! I am consistently impressed with the performances and the performers, as well as how good the service is considering how cramped the space can be. The staff always does the best it can to make it the best night possible - I recall the very first time I went, the power was shut down throughout the whole block, but they had the emergency lights on as well as candles everywhere so still felt very magical and intimate. I do recommend reserving seats if you can, as it does make the night that much more enjoyable. The food isnt anything to write home about (which is alright, given its not meant to be a dinner spot), the drinks are great, and the ambiance was beautiful. The pianist was such a great and charismatic host, but above all I was blown by how smooth and curated the performance was.Would recommend!

The Red Pavilion is a whole mood, seriously! Its got those old-school Shanghai vibes with a dark, sexy twist. As soon as you walk in, youre hooked – awesome energy, and they have really creative drinks! The performers I saw were on another level. A woman who could bend herself into crazy shapes, a singer with a voice that gave me chills, and a seriously talented pole dancer! This spot is all about showcasing Asian American artists, and they were crushing it.Oh, and dont sleep on the drinks. I had this infused baijiu that is very fragrant. If you want a night thats totally different and super cool, Red Pavilion is your spot. You wont be disappointed.

We went for the burlesque show— I was celebrating my birthday with my wonderful girlfriend. We paid for table seating, which was so nice, but I would totally do standing room next time for a cheaper night out. The host and entertainment were awesome and the environment— dazzling! They had a segment of the show where they brought 4 audience members on stage who told stories, which was funny and made such a memorable experience. After the show, they take all the chairs out and open up the space for dancing, which was great to keep the night going for a bit! It’s a great experience especially for the price.

I recently had the pleasure of attending the mesmerizing JAZZ NIGHT at The Red Pavilion, an unforgettable experience that seamlessly combined music, culture, and exquisite cocktails. The highlight of the evening was the enchanting performance by the AAPI Jazz Collective, who beautifully rendered a delightful array of love songs from across Asia. From the heartwarming tunes of China to the soul-stirring melodies of Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, and Taiwan, the music transported us on a captivating journey through the emotions of love and longing. The talented musicians skillfully intertwined various musical traditions, creating a harmonious blend that was both soothing and invigorating. As I savored the delectable cocktails prepared by the skilled bartenders, I couldnt help but be immersed in the warm and inviting ambiance of The Red Pavilion. The carefully curated atmosphere added an extra layer of enchantment to the evening, making it the perfect destination for a weekend rendezvous with friends or a romantic musical escape. The drinks were an absolute delight – each sip was a burst of flavors that complemented the musical journey perfectly. Whether youre a cocktail enthusiast or simply looking to unwind with something refreshing, The Red Pavilions drink menu is a treat for your taste buds.

This place is amazing! Attended a Friday night Shanghai Jazz event and the atmospheric and vibe were perfect.Prices for tickets were very reasonable, and Im comfortable saying I think any one of their events would probably be worth every penny based on the experience we had.The space is immaculately clean, so well decorated, cozy and moody all in one. It feels like youre VIP in this place because I feel like all staff is focused on patrons having a good experience. They didnt overpack the space and it felt so intimate, which is something I really loved.I appreciated that there were mocktails available on the drink menu and they were very good.I feel like Im missing so much here but I would implore everyone to go have an experience at Red Pavilion. I hope to visit again and that it will be a part of the community for a long time to come.

We had Sunday brunch on a hot summer day, so AC was blasting and a bit too cold (take a cover). The place was 80% full, so it didnt feel crowded. The service was very attentive, we ordered several dishes (my favorite was mushrooms salad, tofu and fried sesame balls) and a pot of Winter Plum tea (my connoisseur friend said it is a rare find) and they gladly refilled it with hot water several times for us.It is a definitely a place to discover if you are into Asian culture.

Went there on Sunday for the dim sum drag show. What a hoot! The drag show was entirely entertaining and I would 100% come back for it. The dim sum itself was okay. This is a healthy version of dim sum, so I kept needing to remind myself when the carts were coming around and didn’t contain the dishes that I know and love. These were definitely lower in sodium and msg, but because of that, they also lacked some flavor. I think they could have also given us some bowls and spoons, since there were numerous dishes (like the tofu, wonton soup, and the snow fungus dishes) that were liquidy—how were we supposed to share that when we each had chopsticks and plates? While my taste buds were disappointed, I did leave the restaurant not feeling stuffed or bloated which is my usual dim sum experience. So that was a plus!

If you want to find the best Traditional Chinese Medicine food and beverage place in Bushwick, look no further! The Tea Parlor at the Red Pavilion has unique and healing offerings. To start, I tried the Chai Latte, which was flavorful and not too sweet, with notes of spices such as turmeric, cinnamon, and ginger. Then, I tried the steamed buns of the day, filled with salted egg yolk which was one of my favorite items, it was served warm and had this sweet yellow paste (egg yolk) inside that made my mouth melt. I also tried the winter multigrain congee set (MY FAVORITE) and wow, it was mouth-watering, smooth, warm, and savory. This congee set was big enough to share with someone else and included toppings such as pickled lotus root, carrots, chicken breast, and some spicy sauce. I finished with the black wood ear salad which was refreshing, cooling, and delicious. I highly recommend this place! Last note, you will leave feeling satisfied and happy, without any GI discomfort!

I saw Wicked City Burlesque. Was $40 cover (inc seat) + $40 mandatory drinks for one person. Doors didnt open til 11, show started at 11:20 and was over by 12:40, inc a 20m intermission. One performer went once. One went twice. The MC did a sword swallowing routine, and then the show was over. Felt overpriced for ~1h of old timey music with a few acts sprinkled in.Despite advertising it on their website, there was no coat check. Erica, the delightful cocktail waitress, was super sweet and collected everyones coats anyway.I admittedly arrived grumpy having had to wait so long to get in. The show was fun, the decor was pretty, the cocktails were tasty, and Ive already sung Ericas praises. Still I dont quite feel like I got what I paid for. Ive been to house parties that had longer burlesque sets.

We were able to attend for a Jazz night event at 6:30 ish on a Saturday. The ambiance and entertainment is really top notch! But the food/drinks are definitely skimping on quantity and quality for their price. Attendees also seemed mostly fine but some really had weird attitudes.Mandatory coat check for guests that we must pay for is really odd. That should be a cost absorbed by the venue considering the tickets are so expensive and the lack of heads up before hand. Especially since there is a two drink minimum they tell you a bunch of times in person and while booking the ticket. With all of this in mind and the poor standing area room how far will they push for skimping on quality and continue asking for more money.

We were so pumped for Jazz + Burlesque night and what we got was some middle-ground jazz playing and no burlesque (having a girl in lingerie lie on an oversized glass and a singer take her coat and stockings off is *not* burlesque!). Considering the event was titled + Burlesque, this was false advertising, The price would have been good if it had been what the ticket title advertised.. but it was too much for 90min of tight space seating and a handful of Jazz songs performed by ok musicians. Drinks were very tasty but the table servers were super aggressively checking for more orders and cleaning the table - disturbing us during the performance. You’re better off going to a real jazz club or make sure to carefully read all the fine print of the event tickets, not rely on the event title!

This business has been accused of removing reviews from google so I’m not sure if this review will live but I feel totally scammed for how much I paid vs the quality of the venue and production value of the show. The place looks nothing like the beautiful photos shown online and the show is nothing like what’s advertised. It is a low budget venue that has poorly thought out seating, horrible lighting and overpriced food and drinks. Plus the people that work there are more focused on getting people to spend money on drinks and coat check than providing an experience worth coming back for. I would not recommend this place to friends.

Response to Business:In full transparency that statement is not the complete truth. As you have stated, the food portion was billed separately, which was comped when your team reached out to the host (seeing as only 10 of 15 ordered dishes made it out of the kitchen) ONLY in response to our initial review but the drinks portion was in fact charged in full, pending the conditional that we would kindly remove the one star review.Out of principle that review was not removed by us, but the business reported and removed said review as a means of preservation of a high star rating. As a courtesy we still tipped the staff as that was and is the decent thing to do; their time, sweat, and tears were still put in to try and rescue an operation that was extremely unorganized.Rather than attempting to skew reality to project a caring and endearing management team, take this review with your chin up and improve the business practices of your establishment.Original Post:I hope this review does not get taken down as I am looking out for the community and not the establishments upside. For context, here is the original hidden/deleted review as well as subsequent hidden/deleted comments:I’m all for supporting Asian American Businesses and what they are trying to promote, but unethical practices still need to be pointed out;In the Fall of 2023, a group of 20+ individuals entertained the idea of upscale Dimsum, after a horrendous experience, we just wanted the public to know about our personal experience, to be able to make that educated decision for themselves.Instead, this business decided to hide/delete said reviews from multiple different individuals,We only hoped to leave this experience in the past,However upon resurfacing on social media and an influencers post to promote the business (actual friends with management), we again only tried to educate a misled public. For said influencer to then disable comments on the promotional post, only exacerbating the issue we tried to inform people about.A bad review may be detrimental towards the business’ wallet, but falsified reviews are detrimental to the customers experience.

They neglect their obligation and due diligence as owners by deferring responsibility to the manager so are completely unaware/oblivious of how it actually operates. Turning a blind eye to some truly problematic behavior -- which I tried to address but was dismissed. Truly such a shame. Also the prices are downright extortionate -- $17 for a shot? $9 for a handful of peanuts that come in bulk and served in a paper cup? The profit margin is insane, even by NY standards.Better places nearby: Sultan Room, Mirage, House of Yes, Jupiter Disco (right next door)

I was very disappointed by the Afrobeats party last night. I brought 2 friends who were visiting home after moving away. We got there soon after the event page said it would open and were told that they were not open yet. We came back an hour later and were let in.. just to have to wait another 25 minutes, dehydrated, with no explanation until my friend asked and was told they didnt have a door person for the party. What??Finally inside, we got cocktails, which we were excited to try. The sesame colada was gross and overpriced. There was a bunch of sesame paste at the bottom of the drinks. The DJ was awful. Almost none of the music was actually afrobeats. There were pauses, silences, repeats, and bad overlays. The only free places to sit were one couch and the dirty stairs to the stage. We wanted to get some air bc it was getting got inside and were told that wed have to get on the back of the line if we stepped outside. We left after a little over an hour. Really lame.It seems like this place is not suited to be a nightclub and they are trying to capitalize on the space without putting in the effort for a quality night. Really was not worth the money or the online hype. Maybe its just better as a restaurant and tea house, but we wont be coming back to find out.

I had a great time at The Red Pavilion over the weekend. My friend and I had tea and a few desserts which we loved. The waiter was very friendly and helpful, especially with helping me figure out their vegan options.

This place feels like it’s struggling or something. A few months back, we tried to come by after they had posted on IG for a jazz evening (free before a certain time) and got turned away as “they don’t do this anymore” but we were also unwilling to pay $10 pp for the remaining 20-30 mins of jazz of the evening and the 2 drink min. Understood that it was a new establishment but disappointing as you should want to win your customers over.We wanted to give this place another chance so tried out Sunday brunch. Food was okay. Menu was small. Portions are small. Flavors were good. Tea was lovely. But ultimately, we walked out not feeling super satisfied. Servers don’t seem to be well trained like what’s the best way to order food or taking away used plates/dim sum trays. And it def was expensive for what it was … the ambience (maybe not super great for daytime) to the service to the food to the prices and the final check. The entire experience just didn’t feel warm and inviting.I also don’t understand the $20 deposit pp for resys…seems unreasonable since this isn’t fine dining or a white table cloth restaurant. And it really just sours the experience. Most of the tables were empty. I would def understand if deposits were needed for a large party or charging a fee for no-shows but that wasnt the case. One of the two bathrooms was also sort of not available (lock issues).Perhaps Red Pavilion could use some tweaks and refocus. Amping up their portions, lowering their prices a smidge, adding more substantial dishes, etc and then they can really drive some volume at least when it comes to food service.

Wow wow wow. This place is a time trap and sends you back to the jazz age. I love that is AAPI jazz representation. Drinks are so good and the music is otherworldly. Truly a hidden gem.

My friends and I came here for their first dim sum Sunday experience! We really enjoyed the various dim sum baskets that were pushed around in the traditional dim sum carts. Everything had unique flavor profiles and my favorite was the mushroom congee and the lotus bun! We can’t wait to come back again soon when they make this a regular thing on the weekends!

My partner and I arrived a bit early and we went to ask if they would allow seating, the lady at the desk along with the man (Long hair) basically chased us out. Very unprofessional and not welcoming at all. We decided not to go.

Very average is the summary, a bit of a money grab, Ill give them the benefit of the doubt that they are still working things out (its only been 1-2 months). We ended up leaving early and checking out some of the other spots in the area.Pros: Nice lighting, cocktails were tasty, the jazz music was decent (6/10, could have had more variety), I do quite like their location in Bushwick.Cons:- Jazz Night food menu was weak (they only had chips and nuts, each at $9 a serving)- Only 2 bathrooms (painful when 1 is out of commish).- They force a 2-drink minimum at tables (not a 2 item minimum like most other venues in the city). Not a problem except by the second round, they ran out of half the drinks (incl. the cheaper 8$ beers), pushing tables to hit their minimum with these $8$ CBD shots or $13 house shots as alternative (or I guess if you wanted to get jacked up on their $8 Red Bull).- One of the owners is also a tea/traditional medicine influencer which made this venue feel more like a store front to push her tea (as she was walking around from table to table towards the end of Jazz pushing tables to have her tea / the deceiving piece of her push was she purposefully left it ambiguous on whether the tea was on the house or it came with an additional cost / even when we said no thank you, her tone was off / you could feel she didnt like hearing no).All to say, hopefully you take this feedback well. Well be back to check out the venue in a year once youve had some time to figure it out.

Had such a fun night, the music and sound was amazing and the entertainment was top notch. Stoked to support such an amazing new spot to go out in NY and especially that it is AAPI women-owned. Will need to come during the day to try dim sum!

If youre coming here expecting an authentic dim sum experience this aint it, go elsewhere. Im baffled by the menu, half the items arent even Cantonese staple items, but hey they have kimchi dumplings. Also since when isnt tea complimentary? Do better.

The servers barely visited our table, and most of the foods were very dry, and the drinks were supposed to be paid for separately. The foods were quite bad, I feel the only good thing so far was the egg yolk bun, which was very dry on the inside. I don’t think I will come here again.

What a beautiful venue with great food, drinks, and entertainment! We expected no less from the owners — two ladies with impeccable taste and unparalleled experience in event planning and culinary arts. This space shines with its unique decor and meaningful intention to promote creativity, connection, and cultural representation of AAPI and BIPOC groups. I can’t wait to bring friends back with me!

Just alright. Stopped by on a hip hop night and had a very rude male bartender (short, black hair, black vest) who didnt service us or even talk to us. Wound up going to the bartender in the middle - the ONLY bartender (girl w long black hair) who was dancing and having a good time - to serve us some drinks. But then peeped that he got upset by that...not my fault if you dont pass the vibe check. Overall, the drinks arent all that, esp for the price...$12 for house shots? And if youre not going to match the vibe then dont work at a night club. Sorry, not sorry. There are MANY places to grab drinks in Bushwick, so if im going to get an attitude or be ignored...then why bother? The boo thangs in the middle were cute, but Id rather go to Tipsy Dog where you dont have to deal w stank attitude.

As an Asian women and someone who one was excited to go to this venue because of the Femme Fatale theme and knowing that this is an AAPI women owned venue I was super excited. However, the venue only had two bathroom stalls and took 2 hours to be able to go to the restroom. After, the DJ who was definitely a pretty straight looking man (who had played the 1.5hrs Id been there) just played generic hiphop/pop sets. I guess I had been expecting more AAPI women DJs and much better accommodations for uterus having persons.

A designer space capable of a slew of cool activations. The first thing this place does is make you wonder where it came from. The Red Pavilion is a culturally necessary step in providing representation for the AAPI community, and it does this with style. The space supports dual performance stages that can be used for live acts, DJ’s, fine dining, and more. If China Chalet left a ghost behind, it would go here.
