They play some of the most boring music Ive ever heard. This is one of the coolest venues in Williamsburg, playing some of the most god awful electronic music. Ive never seen a crowd look more bored.Just play popular music that we can dance to and Ill go every weekend.$10 cover after 10pm.
The bar has a fantastic layout, with plenty of outdoor seating that creates a welcoming atmosphere. The bar itself is well-stocked and the ambiance is generally enjoyable. However, I found the music selection and volume on weekdays to be quite off-putting. The predominance of dubstep, especially at high volumes, detracts from what could otherwise be a great experience. A more varied playlist and lower volume would significantly enhance the weekday vibe.Overall, ANIMAL has a lot of potential and is worth a visit, but I hope they reconsider their music choices during the week.
Ambience and crowd were great, but YOU NEED EITHER MORE BARTENDERS OR QUICKER BARTENDERS. Waiting 20 minutes (twice) to be served at the bar ruined the whole experience for me and my friends. 3 bartenders on a Friday night isn’t enough for a venue with such a large capacity. Will stick with The Exley for now.
Definitely have to walk inside to feel the vibes. Love the inside and outside areas. I know under new ownership love the direction it’s going. More of a calm vibes to chill sit have drinks and vibe out during the week. Fills up definitely during the weekend. I’ll wait to see how this plays out after some time being open.
Really love the space but my experience was marred by what I believe was racist behavior by the same bartender mentioned by a previous reviewer. I had my white partner order our drinks after mine was “forgotten”. I think he realized what happened and comped the drinks, but it still felt awful at the time.
There’s nothing else like it. People talking. Meeting. Engaged. Dancing. Making out. The best DJs. The best drinks. Staff makes you feel like family. This is what a queer bar should be.
What!?!? This venue has one of the most unique set ups Ive seen in NYC. What a magical place behind those doors. Excited to be so close by and sorry I havent been sooner! Will be back soon! 🏳🌈
Great atmosphere, but one of the bartenders just ignored me for 20 mins at the bar, served all the white gays, meanwhile, I’m an Asian gay man standing by the bar, he served people before me and after me, then he came to my best friend who’s white, instead of me, not sure I’m reading too much into this but very interesting impression
One bartender is not enough for such a big space. After waiting 20 minutes I finally gave up and closed out. It’s new so I’ll give it another try in a month or two to see if they figure things out. Great space but disappointing.
Over-engineer’s Award to Best Lounge Lighting of 2023-Q2Edit: you sir, you just earned the fifth fifth of the last star 🖖
These gurls just got it right. I’ve never been to a gay bar that has delicious red wine.
Had the best time. Great bar, and atmosphere
Best bar in NYC with best crowd and music
Great hangout place in Bklyn for the LGBT crowd.
A fun new gay bar in New York. Finally.
Love it. Girl it’s time to retire the glass cups tho
The best gay bar in America.
Nice addition to the Williamsburg/Brooklyn gay scene.
Best queer space in nyc
I absolutely loved Animal. My bartender Niko was very sweet. He was doing the frozen drinks so I kept coming back just for him. I’ll definitely be back! Great staff
