Small venue but fairly nice inside. Pretty art and stuff on the outside of the building. Located right above a bodega/mini mart called Mr. Kiwi. Inside, there is a small bar and colorful lights. There is 4 windows in a corner that allows you to see outside and you can occasionally see a train pass by. I have came here multiple times for different types of events. My only issue is that the alcohol is basically never mixed (meaning all the hard liquor is at the top and the first thing you taste). Furthermore, the first event I went to at Market Hotel was supposed end at 4am but the venue kicked everyone out around midnight mid preformance and never gave anyone a reason.Regarding the reply: the event that I attended that was shut down was called Electro Eden. I was not mistaken on the time. I have kept through track of that event and everything surrounding it. Actually, the last/4th picture here in this review is from the event I was referring to. It was July 7th, 2023. I could provide my information, but we as the customers and even the performers were given no reason or explanation as to why the venue was closed early. I attached 3 more images, one being the original post clearly stating MARKET HOTEL JULY 7TH 11PM-4AM and 1140 Myrtle Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11221. The other was a poster that was hung all over Brooklyn, also clearly stating 11pm to 4am. The last was a screenshot of an instagram post, sharing the original post and reiterating the time as 11pm to 4am. That screenshot was from one of the preformers Instagram, Hoshie Star. Also, I had no problem with the drinks. In fact, they were more enjoyable that wa, actually. I just thought it was worth mentioning.
Theres free water at this venue, enough said!!the sound system is great, air circulation is cool and open, and theres a nice amount of space for people to dance as well as good seating space for people to chill out... overall, a perfect venue!!
I enjoyed this venue overall. Good size, good sound, and reasonable bar prices (for a venue).Getting to the venue from Manhattan was pretty easy, just a ride on the M train and off at the Myrtle stop. Then its just a short walk from the station. The entrance isnt super obvious, but a lineup at the door will likely give it away. The room layout is large enough to accommodate a crowd, but small enough that you can generally see the stage from most* spots. I say most, because there are two thick support pillars down the center of the room, one of which is about 5 feet directly in front of the stage. The stage itself is set in an acute corner of the room, with a large window that prominently displays the NYC Metro trains gliding by at intervals. This was actually a great aesthetic to compliment the sort of electro-metal show that I attended there. I dont recall hearing those trains at all during the performance, but metal music tends to be louder than most other ambient noises.
Cool venue, friendly staff, close to the M and J trains so easy to get back to Manhattan quickly. Love the vibe of this place, great sound system too even though the drums are usually louder given the size of the venue. But the mix was good!
I’ve only been to this venue twice but it’s a really cool one. Love the sight of the subway passing by during sets. The sound is actually really good for this size of a venue. Hope to see more shows here in the future.
Great venue, great staff, full bar, lots of space, coat check, plenty of bathroom, light/sound guy was killing it. an elevated subway train passes by the window behind the stage, which is extremely new york and fun. at a punk / hard rock show you wont notice the subway noise at all, but i might not recommend it for classical music. tall staircase to get in.
Super cool look, particularly before it heats up and fogs the window! You can see the subway go by behind the performers. Such an iconic NYC look 🤩 AND! The only metal bar in town with multiple toilets for the ladies/stall users. An important detail because they are also the metal bar with the best beer selection!! And very solid hard liquor selection as well. One caveat is if you like to be front and center like me... the acoustics aren’t so hot. Move back a bit for a better sound. Fun venue!! RIP my left earring that was kicked out of my ear by a crowd surfer! Woo! 🤘
Awesome venue, love that you can see the train going by.
Nice venue but please install ac as it does get very hot inside
Teenagers and Twenty somethings nightclub. There is alcohol but not much to choose from. This is place is for teenagers into underground hip hop culture.
Really cool venue, love to see the trains coming into the station through the window as the show is going on. That is a really unique backdrop to a show. Decent bathrooms and they had a coat check, which is awesome in the winter time.
Great venue, very versatile warehouse space. Ive seen rock shows and gone to techno parties here. Good location in the city. The staff are nice. Sound is also excellent, which is probably the most important, though might change based on the event youre there for. If youre trying to see a band or go to a party here, this venue will only make the night better.
Updated reviewI came here especially for women & queer community to update them, and to make a suggestion to this venue.I have enjoyed Market so many times and come to really like it.But now I have experienced & observed a couple incidences with strange men there. They’ll go into queer centered events & just stand and leer. They follow and get closer and closer even as you move away (when there is LOTS of space and its not even crowded.) they try to sneak in behind you & get inappropriately close. And I can tell im not imagining it because again, there will be lots of space.I have been groped by a man and me & a friend had to get him kicked out. he got my friend and was looking for other victims in the crowd.I have now had a man ask me if I had a mask on and ask me if I was a “real woman”. He was already being inappropriately touchy. He then said “do you want to get out of here”. With both hands grabbing on my shoulders from behind me, he was already trying to steer me toward the door.( He bothered another girl, but seemed to only put hands on me, perhaps noticing I was alone. So heads up if you rave solo, be vigilant.)By the time I was notifying staff, he came through and sped out on his own, so all they could do was make sure he couldn’t come back in.But here’s my point. At this point I can’t be the only one who’s experiencing and noticing this dynamic here. and I have yet to experience this at other places in the area.Staff at Market are always helpful and do kick people out or ensure they stay out. They have been considerate, kind & respectful. But I think that Market should consider having security on the floor. Or adopting a system similar to Nowadays, with guardians on the dancefloor blending in but keeping an eye out for harassment, and having glowing bracelets to be easily identifiable as a source for assistance.—— old review——I like it here, they’re always hosting interesting events with amazing talent. If you love techno and the diverse genres across it, or EDM as a whole, I am sure you will find something here for you. They have benches you can sit on along the walls, and accesible free water. They have coat check (cash only) The drinks are good and average around $15 same as most places. I like the spiked yerba especially.I love how it’s usually quick and smooth to get inside. The employees are very polite and attentive as well.I unfortunately had a negative experience with a groper/creep in there, but once me and my friend pointed him out, security got him and kicked him out immediately.
Good venue, bad management. - look at the reply from the owner 😂😂
Im the dark shadow dancingMake the small room bigger or put the hardcore gabber DJs on the big stage!🤘 This place is greatThanks for providing water
Loved the intimate venue and the lights🔥will def be back
Cool place, good vibes, good sound. Drink elsewhere first/after tho, drinks too expensive for this area. For $10 a beer I’d rather be in Manhattan.
Always a cool place for shows even years ago before it was renovated. Now with all the upgrades to the place its great. The AC was going strong last time I was there and now they have a full bar. The sound here is real nice. Have seen some punk/indie type stuff as well as bigger/slicker bands like Earthless. That show was loud and awesome. The staff is always pretty pleasant also. Its a real NY venue. I wish there were more places like it to see shows.
Went there to see Dry Cleaning and it was packed, in my opinion a bit small for these type of bands however it certainly adds to the experience and the atmosphere which is why this concert was so epic.Watching the band perform and having the subway trains in the background was quite a view.
Went for a free concert (bbymutha) and had a blast. not sure what else the hotel has to offer in their venue space but the area was roomy, plenty of opportunities to go up close to the stage and dance but also chill in the back and hang. the bartenders are extremely friendly.
What’s not to love about this place? You can see a train go by behind the bands, drinks are relatively cheap. I guess the only thing not to love is lack of outdoor space but I’m not gonna count that against them. Great programming and friendly staff. Two thumbs way up. UPDATE: how could I forget the excellent outdoor stretch between Market Hotel’s door and Mr. Kiwi, très slice of life, très sexy
Multiple bathrooms in a punk venue?! No wait for a stall at a sold out show?! Im making Market Hotel a regular venue for my family to attend. A vodka/sprite + soda is about $13. Excited that most of their shows are *all ages* and cant wait to take my 4 year old to some shows!
Good location in Bushwick. Old loft space with the J/M train running directly behind the stage. The subway makes a great backdrop. This place is never packed. Its as close to the NYC of the 80s as you can get these days. The downside is the sound system. If that was improved, this space would be hard to beat.
I love this place they always support amateur local artists and the whole crew is very friendly and cool but they need better sound system and engineer and please next time do electronic music events in the big room and the others in that small room
One of the dopest looking venues in the city. For a spot with giant windows & the J train running along its south side, the sound system was quality!Drinks are fair priced, wait staff is chill and the front door staff was actually really nice and very respectful!
Cool space. Event there was beautifully staffed - with one exception: security.☆MALE SECURITY WAS PEEKING OVER THE STALLS IN THE WOMENS BATHROOM.☆NOT OKAY. NOT SAFE. Also drink prices went up soon after the bar opened. My first drink was $9. Two hours later, the same drink was $14, which is kind of bizarre.
I am giving them 5 stars because I hope they can improve. Staff is AWESOME and the bar is DOPE. The sound though? The worst acoustics I have ever heard. Don’t have rock bands play if your acoustics make life intolerable for the audience.Remove that one major glaring aspect and you have quite possibly the best venue in Brooklyn! Make the changes that are needed and reap the benefits!
Tickets said 7 but no one was let in until 8, forced to wait outside in 30 degree weather. Instead of standing in the cold I went to the bar across the street and came back at 8:30. When I got back on line I waited for another 30 minutes to get into the venue and then waited another 15 minutes on stairs. When the show finally started I had the option of standing the middle of a circle pit or trying to see the tiny stage with a view obstructed by two huge poles in the middle of the floor. The only positive thing I have to say about this venue is that they had EvilTwin beer.
A bit difficult to find, save for one small sign. The venue is on the 2nd floor and has a more intimate feel to it. The stage has a nice view of the subway station as a backdrop. If you dont mind the dive bar appearance, Market Hotel is one of Brooklyns better kept secrets.
Tight, intimate venue. Watched Kero Kero Bonito perform here and it was one of the most memorable performances I have ever attended. The stage is in the corner of the room, and there is a window showing a running train behind. Its a really cool sight to see.
They give out free water near the bar area :) really helpful after you’ve been in the mosh pit for hours
This place is basically legend. Like all legends, there are grains of truth and grains of... Sand. Coarse and irritating. The gist is: its cool as all get out, but its sound system get messed up every time a train goes by. Bring ear plugs or youll regret it, theyre a necessity. That said, this place gets great bands, all they all play like that love it there. Go go go go go go go
Nice place, sound needs work.
Aesthetically pleasing, interesting venue, but the poor sound and giant pole in the middle of the floor obviously detract from the experience. Also, coat check couldnt find my jacket for 10 minutes. When they did, it had been on the floor in a dirty corner, totally marked up. My gf picked it up and the guy looked at it, made brief eye contact and then kept helping other people. An apology would be great, but I dont think itd have been sufficient for how dirty my stuff was.
Bathrooms were a disaster. There was no sign on Toilet that leaked so far you could be 2 feet outside and standing in it before it was visible. A few people stepped in it, and more were stopped. It took management a very long time to do anything about it. Its not hygienic to have poopwater all over the floor... Someone should do regular checks and maintenance. The toilet was apparently broken BEFORE THE SHOW EVEN STARTED and stayed that way for hours.
Weak floor dangerous with large crowd. The floor flexes hard may collapse one day. I have been told the building was inspected 3 years ago and that it is safe however when I was there this year as compared to being there last year the floor was significantly more bouncy. It is really an unnerving feeling I think they need to have it re-inspected. It bounces more now than it did before.
Bass was rattling the store below, so I had to check it out. Upstairs found a utlitarian but unique venue. Not sure the usual scene, but the layout is cool, trains rattle by beyond the windows, and the sound packs a punch.
Not bad venue just need ac cause it gets hot in there. Good for small bands.
Yo it was such a vibe at the Kanii concert the venue is also pretty nice I love the ambiance
Great, homey spot, lots of space for dancing and hanging out.the staffs great. The stage however ...ask a performer.
Contrary to its name this is no hotel. I was there for Vegan Market and had such a hard time finding the entrance - it looked more like a back door. Im not sure how exactly big this place actually is but where the vendors were located its actually pretty small. You can see the entire space in pretty much one glance.
Awesome small venue. It is a loud place so if you have sensitive ears bring ear plugs are buy a pair on site which I thought was a nice touch.
Great venue! Saw pinc louds and loved it! Staff was courteous. Drinks were easy to get with the large crowd.Great venue to support.
It was cool here. Its a standing-room-only venue with a bar and very loud acoustics for alcohol-fueled shows. I saw the Hungry March Band here, and it was loud.
Over priced drinks, hot as hell, and the sound guys had no idea what the hell they were doing. Band we saw made the most of it, but seeing them anywhere would have probably been better.
REALLY cool concert venue. There are windows behind the performers that provide a view of the M/J trains as they pass through the Myrtle Ave station, and its really a bit surreal.
This is a really cool place great atmosphere allstaff make you feel like family like u are home I work here time to time a security and and I love to job
Well-run DIY style venue with a full bar. If you want to see a band closer than nearly any other venue, this is the place to line up hours ahead of time.
Very cool venue where you can see the subway coming and going thru a window on the stage. Vibe is very laid back and the drink prices are reasonable.
DUDE this place is sick! the only thing that has me confused is the whole backdoor one entrance and one exit thing but all around cool. Also theres like these annoying support beams in the middle of the floor which obstruct your view but if you can get around that youll be fine.
Love this venue - safe space for queers and bipoc to come together and live
Great little venue with excellent acts and earthy DIY feel
Saw Dry Cleaning Nov 21, tookem forever to get to the stage... sound was good though!
One of my favourite venues in bushwick, great programming, lovely staff, unique physical configuration, good vibes all round ♡
[venue for Vegan Market]When thinking about what Filipino food is, thoughts of mothers, titas, lolas and yayas whipping up meat-heavy dishes is what comes to mind. When we caught wind of a bakery creating vegan Filipino favorites at the Vegan Market in Bushwick, we jumped on our bikes 🚲 and rode from Queens down to Brooklyn.San & Wolves Bakeshop is pushing traditional (and not so traditional) Filipino favorites like the turon, keeping true to its fried spring roll casing, stuffed with jackfruit 🍈 and banana 🍌 filling, finished with a brown sugar caramel glaze. Their Pan de Coco (Filipino coconut bread roll 🍞) is filled with a sweet and sticky mixture of ube jam and coconut that resembles glowing amethyst crystals. Memories of grabbing a quick breakfast before school is what the buko (young coconut 🥥) chocolate pop-tart wants us to think of. This mix of Filipino and American cultures with sustainability in mind should speak volumes to how much our culture is evolving.🌱
Great show, spacious venue, literally right next to the subway. Theres also four or five delis and a grocery store on this corner for post-show rations.
I hope this place reopens. Best venue Ive ever been to by far. Whitney, Mac Demarco, Lady Lamb and many others put on their best show here
Very Brooklyn. Cool space. Backdrop is the subway and you watch the world go by. You cant actually hear the subway though thankfully. Good bar.
Saw leftover crack for $20 was an awesome show great crowd great atmosphere plenty of drunk munchies and bodegas nearby they served cans of beer inside at a reasonable price very friendly bartenders remembered me and gave me a buyback even though it was a crowded and loud punk show lol they also allowed re entry which is the best thing a venue can do
Event organizers pulled a bait and switch. Advertised event starting at 8 PM on Eventbrite get there and they inform us that event isnt starting till midnight and we cant go in despite it being 20 degrees outside. Avoid at all costs.
Loved this venue wish show wasnt cut early but other the. That very nice venue
Kind of dingy. But it’s a concert venue so I guess I shouldn’t expect much.
Terrible. They literally make you take a covid test before you can even go in on top of paying to go in and long lines because of that hahahaha go else where. And replying to whoever replied, I was negative:) check your records with this name.
Cool concert space with a view of the J,M trains on the background! Good sound but no alcohol!
Staff were polite, drinks were fairly priced (for a music venue), and watching the train go by during sets was awesome
Amazing sick venue. Absolutely awesome. Staff is sick, they have sick drinks, just awesome. Sparkling water??? Yes please!!
Classic venue that now has a full bar! Great sound and great atmosphere to boot.
Nobody wears masks. Show didn’t start at the advertised time. Overcrowded and unsafe. And if you complain the only answer is “purchase is not refundable for any reason”.
Small place but good energy but drinks are expensive but still great place
Nice evening! Amazing show with She Past Away made my trip to USA much more enjoyable!!
Still holding it down 15 years in. How could you not have a good time here?
Really cool venue, with nice staff and a dope disco ball!
Very cool spot with really good A/C, spacious standing room, and easily accessible bar.
Punk shows should not be safe, this place makes it feel real. Cool view of the m train
Great venue, you can see the subway pass behind performers. the weird beer area is weird
Great DIY space. The sight of the trains while the bands were playing was unreal.
Vegan Fest Pop Up was Awesome. #vegan #delish #vegan donuts by Artista Dough an How Delish HD
Pretty cool venue. love the decor
The worst sound in new york city
An institution that allows NYC to continuously contribute to culture regardless of sound issues that may arise due to the old building.
Caught Palm here, really cool view of the subway behind the band. Wonderful experience.
Love the food at vegan market but the prices are too high.. im still attending but this time I wont buy much
Interesting and fun vegan pop up.. Hope to see more good events
Came to see kenny mason and the background of the j train passing through is do NY 🤪
This place has got me hooked, Everytime theres a hardcore show it feels like the floor is going to cave in... So I have to keep coming back because I dont want to miss the day it finally happens.
Nice small area on the second floor great for private performances
To make the crowd wait,to get in after all that weve gone through in our day,to support the band, and make the bar $Rich$,Is unacceptable
Great music and atmosphere! Close to train and fast food! yiz!
The drink prices are outrageous for a venue like this. $42 for a white claw and a vodka soda!
Very cool venue. Nice drink selections.
Best music venue ever! Love this place.
Nice spot to see a live music show especially when the 🚆 runs by...
Saw FATA tonight. Great venue for a concert.
Very smokey. 😵💫🫨💨🚬
Very poorly run establishment. No communication among staff.
Great venue-went to Battle of the Bands
Told the line after hours of waiting that event was preticket only!
Fantastic venue for edgy live bands
This is an old hotel now used as event space, it is a nice space for events
Love going to and being a vendor at the vegan market here.
Great venue to see bands.
Best music venue in town!
Cool location, sound wasnt amazing.
Sketchy place from the outside but great for small events
Perfect spot for a punk rock show!!!!

Small Venue
The best location !!!!
Cool place
Fun fun fun
Bring cash otherwise you are put in an awkward situation where you have to tip 20 25 30% or nothing. Super annoying and sketchy.
Beautiful place
I felt comfortable
