This place was really nice and well air conditioned on the inside. The outside bar area gives you a feel like you’re on vacation. The bartenders were attentive and extremely nice. My only problem with this place is the bathrooms. They are absolutely disgusting and you can’t see. The whole bathroom is painted black and there is no light switch for light. There is a small red light at the top that lights absolutely nothing. You are literally using the bathroom in darkness. Only the handicapped bathroom had some light but still dark. This establishment needs to be more mindful of women, women’s biological needs and what women need to do in the bathroom. We need to see. I would kindly ask management to get some real light in these bathrooms. I had to put my phone light on because I was in complete darkness with a tinge of red light above the door. This is unacceptable. The bathrooms let me know a man owns this place. Please make your bathrooms women friendly
This place is a gem. Drink prices are really affordable. The vibe was such an experience. A place to dance and a place to chill in their outdoor section and eat. Fantastic place to go with friends or dates! It actually has to be one of the best bars I’ve been too. LBGT friendly and security was good.
Cocktails were on tap. I went to lesbian night on Wednesday thankfully before the line wrapped around the corner. Super busy! Has a pretty outdoor area in the back with a bar there too. Bigger than I thought it’d be! Bathroom seemed a bit of a mess tho and the line for that was super long.
DopeNYC was a great time, as always. This place has good drinks and service. The bathrooms are weird and stalls are TINY, but not uncommon for NYC where every inch counts. Not great access for mobility impaired folk.
I had one of the best, most random nights ever in this bar! Was in town last week, was out walking through Brooklyn, and randomly popped into this little spot. Completely dead except for one person at the bar... because it was about 530pm on a Thursday. Fine by me! Im well past the party age at this point. (To be clear, this place is normally hopping. I just happened to be there at the perfect time for me haha). Bartender Ferg was awesome...once he saw me. (Haha Ferg, I kid! I kid! You were truly great!) Ferg was great to talk to, provided great service, and really made me feel welcome. Honestly, I had the best time ever here. Met some great local guys and had great drinks and conversations. These guys happened to be local liquor and beer reps who were there hanging out and bought me a couple of drinks! Like Ferg told me, I really was there at the right time that night. I love this place. Fantastic vibes and hope to visit again. Im probably older than the normal crowd, but I had one of the most memorable, random nights of my life here, and I had to give a shout out for a great NYC memory. 👍
Big dance space during special events, a large bar in the front and a smaller bar in the back. Friendly staff and security team. Will come back again. Cocktail prices and good beer options.
If youre going to check IDs and maybe get some scanners to check if theyre actually fake!! my friend is clearly over 21 and had her real ID confiscated. she gave the correct info on the ID when asked and was told that she gave the wrong info and so was denied entry. after showing a passport photo we were allowed entry but the bouncer did not admit fault. if you are going to be confiscating IDs then employ some technology to ensure they are actually fake because its bad practice to take someones legitimate identification and insist they file a police report to get it back. large crowd of people experiencing the same issues. witnessed another girl not get her ID returned because the bouncer said she was causing too much of a fuss (a reasonable response to having your real ID taken). bad music
I LOVE that the woods has food and u can sit down and eat it and in the other room dance and in the outdoor area smoke and socialize. Love that you guys have queer nights. Would love to see more vegan + local + sustainability sources options on the menu! :)) ❤️
I hate to have to leave a review like this for one of the only lesbian-catered nightlife spaces in NYC, but the treatment that my friends and I received last night at the Woods by the bouncers was so upsetting and violent that I have no choice but to do so.The bouncers refused to take one member of our party’s New York City ID, claiming that she needed to have a New York State ID. Our friend is not a US citizen and had the only ID she typically needs to get into bars and clubs, as her passport is not in English and wouldn’t have been able to verify her date of birth. The two male bouncers said our friend’s ID was rejected and that she wouldn’t be able to get in with the rest of us, which is a completely unsafe practice—splitting up a group of visibly queer people on a night out when alcohol is being consumed is never, never ok.As different members of our group began to ask the bouncers to either talk the issue out or to give us a moment to make a game plan after we waited nearly an hour to get into the bar in the first place and didn’t want our group to get split up, the bouncers began raising their voices at us, telling us to get out of line and escalating the situation. They then accused me of calling them names and began insulting and humiliating our group. The bouncers completely denied us entry based on these claims of name calling and started letting people behind us into the bar, barely checking IDs and accepting photographs of people’s IDs on their phone because they were too busy yelling at and being belligerent with my group, who refused to leave the line due to the unfair treatment we had received from the moment they decided to deny our non-American friend. Even after apologizing to these men, they continued to berate us and deny us entry. All in all, this was a completely upsetting and humiliating experience to say the least. Organizers at The Woods: I am BEGGING you to hire queer bouncers for Woods Wednesdays, ESPECIALLY during pride month, because the bouncers that were working last night were violently misogynistic. The whole experience felt like dealing two men who were on a power trip and got their feelings hurt when they received pushback on their unacceptable behavior, which I’m sure many non-cis men have been on the receiving end of before. This entire insulting experience should NOT have happened, and I am honestly not itching to go back to The Woods anytime soon until there are queer bouncers hired for Wednesday nights.
The music was good but the vibe was off when we went on a Saturday night. Coming here on a Wednesday was more fun. The doormen were very friendly tho
Normally the Woods is a good time but the bouncers have been so trifling. They let me and one friend in but rejected our other friend who has a real ID from out of state. He also had a birth certificate and SSID on hand for proof but they refused to look at it. While we were outside trying to figure out what to do, we watched SIX other people face the same issue within a five minute span and get barred from entry, some of them being regulars. The bouncers said it was a “new policy, new scanners” and dismissed us all. So all of us just coincidentally brought fake IDs and the bouncers aren’t in the wrong?? Girl bye.
Due the bouncer I was never able to come in, though he was doing job to make he had to everybody id. He held on to my Id and refused to give it back to me. Because someone did not had there Id in the grgroup Then refuse service to everyone that had id in the group. Though the individual withe Id went to get there Id. So I would not recommend this place due to customers service and to the young bouncer who had no customer service.
Been coming here for years and love the expansion in the backyard area. The food is great. Service is awesome and cocktails are quite strong.
Cool outdoor area, was a karaoke night going on. Drinks were strong. No complaints!
Love it! Guys had to pay $5, and girls were free on a Saturday night. The music was a mix of hip hop and chill reggae? The floor was crowded enough to be fun but not too crowded to be annoying. There’s an outdoor area which leads to another building, which is kind of like a barn. Back there in the barn building you can buy tacos + nachos! the bar is not crowded, and there are picnic tables for large groups. We were able to bring out some games like connect four; and it was a perfect time to pull out catchphrase on our phone. I really like this place because there’s 3 spaces with different vibes, suitable for a large group!
I cant remember the name of the drink that I ordered but it was a cocktail on tap which is my first time ever hearing of that. The drink was nice and strong. Only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because I wanted a long island iced tea but they said they dont make those which is crazy because its a full bar so all the alcohol you need to make a long island was there but I guess they want you to order the speciality drinks on tap. I dont know. But its a nice chill spot
I had a great time really fun play different types of music every other night. I feel looking for a great nightlife, but not too crazy than this is the place. they also have a cute restaurant in the back that sells good Mexican food. also, I didn’t have to pay for coverage to get in.
Huge place. Bars inside and outside. Food in the back. Lots of dancing space. Really cool spot. Will be back for sure.
Chill vibes good food. Drinks are so so but I will definitely go back, great atmosphere
The Woods is an interesting and lively bar that caters to a variety of tastes and preferences. With ample dance space, you can let loose and enjoy the music, making it an ideal spot for a night out with friends. The true gem of this venue, however, is the outdoor seating area that features a taco bar in the back. The tacos are the main cuisine served here, but youll also find other delicious Mexican dishes to savor. To complement your meal, theres another bar in the back, ensuring that your food is accompanied by your favorite drinks. What sets The Woods apart is its ability to cater to different moods and preferences. Whether you want to dance the night away or relax in the outdoor area while enjoying a bite to eat or sipping on a drink or two, this place has something for everyone.I would highly recommend The Woods for anyone looking for a versatile and vibrant night out. With its combination of lively dance space, outdoor seating, and delicious food, its sure to become one of your go-to spots for a memorable evening.
I’ve only been on Wednesday but the bartenders are speedy and friendly. Usually have great DJ’s and the outside space is soooo nice. I’ve never gotten food (usually hit up the deli down the block lol) but it always looks and smells really good! Can’t beat their beer and a shot special!
I had one of the best burgers ever at The Woods. Absolutely delicious and got it to-go quickly. The restaurant staff was friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, the front of the house doorman was unwelcoming and rude. From other reviews posted, I am not the only one with this experience. He needs to go.
We went to their Wednesday evening party. The music was overall pretty good, and it would have been a lot more fun if it wasnt SWELTERING inside- it didnt seem like they cranked the AC to accommodate the number of people. Everyone was literally dripping sweat, it definitely felt 85F+ in there. And though there were many fans and ceiling fans, they were either off or on low. Dancings definitely a lot less fun when youre already overheating. I dont know if this was a one-time issue or if its always like this.
Wednesday Nights are ladies night!!! 🌈 such a good vibe and to be honest what makes it better is the staff. TRACY IS THE BEST BARTENDER EVER! He is quick with his drinks, he works well under pressure and he genuinely loves working. Also the Gabriel is my favorite too! He always has my back.
Good ambience inside and outside. Food is always delicious.
This system is odd... I dont mean to imply that I went to a place called The Woods... I mean this photo was literally taken by a trail cam in a forest WAY up north here in NY.
Extremely disrespectful staff. Very loud bar and disrespectful to the neighbors, neighborhood, and the community in that area. This place is constantly blasting music on every night of the week till the AM (not just the weekends). This is a residential area after all and they are not willing to do anything about the loudness at anytime. There are other bars in the area that respect the people living there, for example, other bars in the area would limit their outdoor space to 10PM to avoid blasting outdoor music and loud people gathering outdoors. Very confrontational bar tenders and will threaten and try to intimidate you with the bouncer at the door if you try and ask them to keep it down. The entire neighborhood is bothered by this bar.
DJ is So Trash! I had to leave. Bartenders was Great!
There’s a coat check, go to the outdoor portion then go into the indoor annex in the back of the patio, it’s next to where you order food
Amazing spot, day or night -- esp when my Dope Day Party People are there!!!
The bouncer was rude and condescending, wouldn’t let me in because I’m European and only have a European ID and not an American one, insane
Watch the bartenders with your cards. They will give themselves atip without you knowing. My tab was 35 dollars I gave her a cash tip and she still stole 12 from my card. She has a short hair cut. She lucky because if I would have knew that I would have snatched her from behind that bar. Be careful. This place be literally over capacity and and anyone can take your card with you knowing. Be safe
Finally made it to Wednesday at the Woods a couple weeks back for pride. It was a hot mess to say the least. Y’all need ac in the indoor space, please! Spicy marg was good and I loved the large outdoor and indoor space. Would appreciate variety of music and better security because it is so huge. I do agree with someone’s review that it should be better organized. Also just a bit more light especially in the bathroom! **This is unique to Wednesday at the woods.
Love this place . Food is great , my only issue is the bartender named Ferg. He’s extremely rude . I asked him to make me a sweet drink with tequila he got annoyed and walked off . Came back with a Sample of a pre-made drink. And said “ you’re just going to drink my free shit” I don’t know why they would hire this man to work as a bartender when he can’t make any drinks and gets annoyed when you ask to do his job .
Went on a Wednesday night. The music was dope. Old-school vibe. Lots of people. Outside space with tables. And the food was so good. I will keep going just for the fish tacos
Roomy venue bar with a solid open indoor and outdoor concept and cool spicy drinks/decent Mexican food best served as a night out with a large crowd rather than just a couple of friends. $14 a drink; $17 a dish. 3.75/5 stars as a night bar.
Went to a great LGBTQ night on a Wednesday was Beyonce themed. I had a blast. I had a burger with fries and it was SO FRESH and DELICIOUS. I’m only giving four stars because it was a little bit crowded.
Really nice bar. I went on a Saturday at 430pm prior to attending a concert nearby. The bar is all wood and dark inside. Great music playing (not too loud at that time) and really friendly staff. Wide variety of alcohol including high end choices. They have a drink menu on the wall of specialty drinks. I had the Spicy Dead Lady. Which was spicy and delicious with Mezcal. All specialty drinks seem to pre made and served from a tap. The drink was delicious but I prefer my drinks made at the time that I order them. Drinks range from $14 to $16. Shots $8 to $10. I did not order a non pre-made drink. I like the vibe so much, I would return but this time I would ask for regular drink.
The bartenders are very fun (christian and Tracy are a great duo)! They have a full bar and food in the back courtyard area. There are themed nights of the week with a DJ set. Bathrooms are dark and can get messy throughout the night (but who doesnt?); I highly suggest taking your phone to the bathroom for lighting. Easy walk to/from domino park
Thank God it is Friday! Let’s go grab a bite! You won’t regret it! The crowd is there! Let’s have fun & Tex Mex! This is my favorite place for enchiladas , guacamole, yuca fries, tacos and more! The quality of the products is always the best! Not too forget the steak so flavorful, marinated to perfection!
Wednesdays is great its lesbian night and they play a lot of different kinds of music plus the drinks arent over priced. Its all good with this bar tbh its a good nightcap/place to dance and chill.
Nice place, young crowd. Cocktails are okay, nothing special in flavor or presentation, that’s why 4 stars out of 5. I’ve been here with some friends (birthday celebration) and we had a lot of fun. Music is okay too, maybe too commercial. But overall the vibe and the atmosphere are nice and I recommend this place. Maybe for a pre-game or a late night drink/music craving with friends.
No shade, clearly a place for the 35 and under crowd. Drinks were alright. The Blue Point on tap was horrible as you can clearly taste that the tap needs to be cleaned out. The surroundings are nice and the open space in the back is cool.
The Woods are terrible neighbors. I live in the building next door. They consistently blast music until 4am+ multiple week nights each week - mainly in the back yard. They allow their customers to hang outside screaming/yelling and pour into the street causing traffic to backup with cars honking until 4am. Unlike all other Williamsburg nightspots who manage/police the noise/disruption outside after reasonable hours, The Woods shows ZERO respect to the neighborhood and its residents. Note to management/ownership - Please be reasonable and respect your neighbors like every other Williamsburg nightspot. This isnt a Bushwick industrial area with no residents - we live here, sleep normal hours, work normal hours. I promise we are not trying to shut you down, we are simply begging you to lower the volume (backyard) and manage/police the customer screaming/traffic control/honking on sidewalk/street. Myself and multiple neighbors/managers from multiple buildings (390 Wythe, 325 Kent, THs at 59 S 4th) have asked nicely to speak with management and our requests are ignored. We are in contact with NY DEP, 90th Precinct office, and Antonio Reynoso to address the issue.
Best bar I’ve been to. Was visiting a friend a couple years back and reminiscing on some great nights so came back to give this place the 5 star it deserves. Most laid back and real bar I think I’ve ever been to. Great service, great music, and a really fun crowd. Haven’t been in a few years but guessing based the experience, it’s hard to lose such an amazing vibe. First bar on my list on my next trip to New York.
Most underrated bar food around. Its not healthy, but if youre in a bar looking to eat food, youre not in a healthy mood anyway. Great dance room and music, beers on tap are a delight.
Rude bouncer and rude unhelpful staff. They told us we need to leave without a reason. We left our food and drinks all behind, over $100 worth, after a $50 cover. Its Williamsburg, not west virginia . You stuck up knobs.
Went on a Saturday with friends and there was no cover. It was really crowded and so hot inside but there was an outside section which was good. Bartenders were nice and drinks reasonably priced. DJ was hittin. Bathrooms were dark and nasty tho.
Loved this place❤🥂.Spacious than most Brooklyn neighborhood bars. Great music. Decore. Vibes and Energy. Cant wait to go back again for the food, which I missed getting there later in evening. Drinks were on Point.
A very nice spot. A very large spot with good food at a reasonable price. Every night is a themed night and they have a very good crowd even on the weekdays. I will be going back to experience more of their food. I had a cheese Burger that came with fries for $12 the Burger was thick and juicy and the fries were fresh cut... They also have wings, chicken sandwich, burritos and tacos
I’m born and bred from Brooklyn. I vibe with The Woods. The scene is comfortable, friendly, and accommodating. I LOVE the fact that it’s NOT easily accessible. It takes intent and effort to be in that space. So for me it’s a win😜
Went here around 2pm in Saturday and sat in the back patio. Had some of the best wings and nachos in my life. The wings were so crispy and well seasoned. The food was reasonably priced. The frozen drinks were good but pricey($14). The do played a good mix of top 40. Would go back again and bring more friends.
Great DJ!! I’m only here on Wednesday nights. Ladies night. Way WAY better than Henrietta Hudson. Music is SUPERB. The mix of R&B, hip-hop, reggae is amazing. Dance your troubles away.
Thursday night at 7:30pm, place is l i t e r a l l y empty and the bouncer wont let me come in because I have a scooter with me. Not even apologetic about it, just straight up laughs in my face. Just wanted to grab a quick drink with a friend. Instead of being accommodating this guy was disrespectful and rude to a regular.
Drinks are decent and there’s a smoking area. But $10cover? For a bar? Never again! Go to Freehold, on the next block over. Free entry, drinks just as good, better music and no cover!
Will definitely come back! Such a DIVERSE crowd on Wednesdays. I love it! The DJs and their music is FIRE! Not a lot of variety for non hard liquor drinks. The space is kind of small and it can get really crowded so if that bothers you, dont come here. Theres a backyard restaurant which is really cool too. There were a lot of attractive people! Felt like I was in the L word show, lol. Had fun and would recommend it to my LGBTQIA+ community and allies. Wednesday nights are fire!
Cool spot with a nice back patio and a dance floor. Looks like good times could be had day and night! We were here only briefly and early in the night this time, but made a note to come back!
Went here on a Friday night around midnight, the dance floor was busy but not so packed that it was uncomfortable, it was just about nice enough to be outside in the back area, and the food area was moving quickly. I loved this bar and will be going back. It seems like it would be a great time especially in the Spring/Fall when they can capitalize on their outdoor space. I love that they serve food at their own fast food place, great selection - though I went out late enough to not try it. Also the DJs played fun music, things you wanted to dance to, not just the newest songs but some older ones as well! I would definitely suggest a visit.
The bar is okay. I just come here for lesbian night. The drinks are mid, the bartenders have a slightly off-putting vibe. The kitchen in the back is to die for though.
Wednesday vibes are good. dj’s arent great honestly but the crowd is fun
Ive been coming to Wednesday at the Woods for almost a decade. The bouncers do not count how many people are being let in and there is severe over crowding. It has become dangerous and there is a blatant disregard for the safety of the patrons. Its not fun when you cant even move through a crowd.
Good food in back albeit relatively slow service for an empty bar. The Frozen tropical drink was tasty but would have expected a bigger portion for the pricing. Will stop back by if in the neighborhood. The bar seemed like it probably gets lively in a good way in the evenings.
Ive been going to The Woods for a few years now and I have always enjoyed myself at this establishment. The food is pretty good and they serve my favorite beer on tap. Now for the first time last night I actually had a pretty unpleasant experience. I walked up to the entrance with my brother and my cousin who was visiting from overseas, and we were told we couldnt get in unless accompanied by females. I was so confused and asked the bouncer since when was this a rule? He said the owner started this whole new thing and encouraged us to return with females. Ive never felt so discriminated against like I did last night. I would understand if my brother or my cousin were being rude or disrespectful but thats definitely not the case. We simply walked up and got turned away. We were dressed pretty nice, for those who might read this and wonder if we were dressed appropriately or might even think that we probably said or did anything wrong, but we didnt. I must honestly say this was something I never expected nor felt before, especially from THE WOODS. 😕😳
Really cute spot, definitely more casual than upscale, but definitely a great find! After 10 theres a $7 cover charge on Saturdays, (dont know about other days) but the drinks are SO CHEAP that that cover really doesnt hurt you. Indoor bar, dance floor, big outdoor space with a second bar, and what they call a parked taco truck, with options that include a lot more than just tacos, but common tacos 🤗❤ definitely will be going back, just no heels or fancy outfits this time.
Ive never had a good time at this bar. Yes, the outdoor area and huge dance floor is appealing. But the staff has always been so bad. Very rude and slow, taking their time with each order and blatantly ignoring customers. During happy hour once they overcharged me by $20 since it was busy and thought the happy hour sign was taken down, when it wasnt. Very unprofessional!
This place is a hit or miss depending the on the night. Some nights they have a cover and other times its free. Ive been here during times when the DJ was great, the dance floor was alive and the was an overall fun time. Then Ive also gone on nights when the DJ is terrible and no one is dancing. The drinks are pretty well priced with a shot and beer combo for $9-$10.
My friend was assaulted here by two large men and a woman last night. She’s short, about 100 pounds and I’m absolutely disgusted with how the bar has done nothing. Not last night did they help my friend nor try to break up the group of people jumping her, nor have they been helpful in trying to sort the situation out afterwards. Shes traumatized and the lack of support or acknowledgement from the bar is disgusting. I’m honestly so disappointed. Would give it 0 stars if possible. Not worth going, especially when your safety is not prioritized as a woman. Given the rise of anti Asian attacks towards women, I’m really appalled at the lack of support by the bar, the staff, and the management.
Its changed. I havent gone in a year and I went tonight and the vibe was weird. Some people were dancing with us the entire night and having fun, but then you get other half that gave you the stank face and lots of others just didnt want to dance. A friend of mine I met there asked if it was Date Night or something? Great DJ and workers but half the guests were uppity.
Spontaneously came out here Saturday night with my cousin and her bf and the bartender Erica was very attentive and amazing. The drinks were mixed just right. The music was good too, a mix of everything. It was a great night
The drinks are ok but DONT BUY THE FOOD the waitress is rude, the chicken nacho, taste like tuna fish in a can. If you ask to replace your order with a simple item like fries you must pay 1/2 price. TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT, I JUST LEFT THE FOOD AND THE RUDE WAITRESS.
Visiting from out of state with friends. My group was a party of 3. Upon arrival 2 of us were able to get in. We are all 25+ years old. We were told our 3rd with a NY license was using a fake ID. Upon trying talk to the bouncer about the situation I was told he wasn’t “arguing” and would remove me. This is 💯 not right and I hope the owners realize our frustration. We were very cooperative with your team however the main door gentleman was very rude and disrespectful. I normally don’t write reviews, but I feel this worker is detrimental towards future business. Again, I hope you take this review seriously, and understand the situation as it was super embarrassing.
Came for queer night and loved it. No line or cover and I absolutely love a bar that serves food and has a patio area to take breaks from all the noise in between dancing.
Was a great spot with great bartenders. Now you have noobies making disgusting drinks, not even close to tasty. Drinks are either filled with juice/soda or iced/water. It is like I paid 14 bucks for a cup of Tropicana top with a sliced lime. Bring cash as well because they will add an extra WOODS TAX to your total for not having cash. Something told me to look at my bill. Boom. Only, and ONLY the food is worth your time now.
Good bar with a dance floor and a good crowd. Theres three portions to this place - the front bar and dance floor, an open space with picnic tables in between, and a back bar with the food stand. We came here on night in March, and even then the outdoor portion was filled with smokers and people. Im sure on a summer night it gets really popular. The back had a good food stand, which is ingenious. We got a burger and nachos and chowed down halfway through dancing. If you buy 5 shots you get 1 free!
Stay clear of this bar: one of the bartenders put friends into a very dangerous situation with a false racially-charged accusation. Accusation was later confirmed to be false by bar manager via camera footage but still no remorse or apology was given. There are many other incredible places to go to in the city if you care about your safety. This is NOT acceptable in 2022.
Great bar spot in Williamsburg. The food was surprisingly good. Tacos, nachos, and the wings! Bartenders were great and up to speed when the crowd started picking up. Music was cool. Great quick spot if you need something to do for the night!
Trashy bathrooms, way too crowded. If you like crowds that you can barely walk thru, a unisex bathroom that is worst than a portal potty and music that is random and does not flow into the next song this is your place. Entrance fee is not bad but the rest of the place is. Honestly looks like a nice place for the summer since it has an outdoor area but this winter the visit was less than worth the while.
So I dont know how but every time i go there I meet a really beautiful boy. This is way this place is one of my favorite. The service is amazing, really friendly and helpful even if you are alone you are going to get a lot of fun. Try different types of cocktails because they are really good at all of them. Dont worry about the price because they are cheap so you can get a lot of drinks but still watch out. Next week I am coming again so see you soon.
Came here for a friends birthday and liked it a lot. Very spacious, the bartender was friendly, the music didnt disappoint and the crowd seemed fun. There is a back area with an additional bar and a small counter turning out food-we got the nachos and they were delicious! One complaint: There is an open air area connecting the outside bar and the inside food/bar/coat check area. On summer nights it would be fine, but on a winter night after you check in your coat, youll have to cross this place coat-less to get to the larger bar/music area. On the night I was there, it was freezing and the place smelt of smoke (which I dont enjoy), hence the complaint. Other than that-everything else in this place warrants four stars!
Very fun place! Different types of music, the crowd is always awesome, has a back area with another bar. Super fun! Low entrance fee at the door and nice security. Bartenders are quick and fun.
I love the Woods across the board — Wednesday Lesbian Night is a riot, the music is good, and the drinks and backyard food are amazing. I’m thrilled to be a part of this community. I want to share, however, that I was disappointed with the bouncers and the Woods more generally for turning me away with my IDNYC card. I was not able to back it up with a photo of my license or passport, though IDNYC is valid, gender-affirming, government-issued identification. The bouncers were aggressive and rude when I showed the ID, refusing to look at it and prompting me to go home early: I definitely didn’t expect the Woods, for the allies I thought them to be, to discriminate against a card in which NB people can mark “X” in the gender spot. TLDR, be warned: no IDNYC, or photos, accepted here. I hope they change this policy soon.
Really cool, eclectic vibe. They play a good range of music genres. Theres something for everyone! The patio/restaurant out back is a more chill vibe if youre looking for a break from the dancefloor too.
Caveat Emptor. I love the look of this place, and some of the staff was terrific. Andre especially. Food was good. Beer list could have been more extensive, but it sufficed . Please watch your wallets. I was charged more for the second round of drinks, the same drinks as the first. I dont know if this was an honest mistake, or the way they do business, but when I wanted my bill adjusted I was told because they use square, I could not have my bill adjusted for a few days. I just dont want people taken advantage of.
Good vibe, DJ was rockin it out but very crowded even on a Wednesday. Drinks are normal priced for Williamsburg, the taste was decent to them, the music is too loud to interact with the bartender. Overall I would visit again as long as I was prepared for lots of excitement and crowds.
Sapphic Wednesday nights are interesting- playlists and layout of the backyard need some work. Huge and open by NYC bar standards and the taco truck kitchen s a nice addition, but it feels like a rebranded straight bar... Could have just been the vibe this past week but not sure if its my scene. Ill stick to Gingers!
It was hopping on a very quite, cold, Saturday night. Was it the greatest bar/club in the world? No. But it seems to be a reliable go to with a late night kitchen.
I celebrated my birthday there 7/22/ 22. I had a great time. Good people Good atmosphere . I forgot to try the fish tacos. I will be back
I have been to The Woods a handful of times. Every time without fail, I have fallen in love with a stunning human because the vibes are just that immaculate. Some may say, “this is my neck of the woods.” And it is surely true, as it is truly a place that feels like home. I hope you have a chance to experience this diamond in the rough. With love, Z$$$
The drinks sucks LOL ordered a cranberry and vodka, how can you mess that up, had 3 different people taste it & admitted it was bad, $13 too crazy, paid $9 for the same drink x10 better
Visited The Woods last weekend with wife and some friends. Had a great time, music, vibes and food where great. The one downfall and a big downfall!! They decided to add a tip to my card without my authorization (robbed me, stole from me, thief). So some advice, pay with cash in this establishment. Absolutely not a good look at all, not cool, straight up wrong on so many levels. I could only imagine how many customers they have done this to.
Me and my girlfriend have only ever been on the Wednesday girls nights and we love it!
Always a great time at the Woods! Great atmosphere outside to chill (with a super tasty taco truck as a major plus) Or take your night indoors for a fun dance party with great music, especially later into the night. Cant beat the Tecate+Tequila specials, and they serve awesome pickle backs!
A great bar with such eclectic crowds. Depending on the day of the week, this place will have such a wide gamut of customers. Live bands and fresh DJs rotate allowing for crowds of all walks of live to attend. Drinks are inexpensive and theres enough room here to have a small party.
Large space. Indoor/outdoor venue is a good look. Crowd was pretty lame for lack of a better term. Would definitely be interested in possibly renting the venue to do my Velour Party.
This place used to be easy for a single guy to get into. On the weekday by myself I was rejected entry. I was dressed well and was sober. There was barely anyone inside. They hired the wrong door guy. This guy did me a large favor and saved me a lot of money I would have spent there..
Love this bar! Always have a good time at the woods. DJs are top notch + amazing staff and really good drinks and food in the back.
Great music and DJ, great beer and cocktail prices and the food that they have at the back of the bar outside and some of the best food you will have in Brooklyn! Try the steak tacos and the chicken sandwich trust me you will not regret it.
Absolutely one of my favorite party venues! If you see a party being held there you have to go! The food here is amazing too the chicken tenders are perfectly crispy and juicy!
Randomly walked into this bar with my boyfriend and we had such a blast! Music was great, drinks were affordable and the taco truck in the back was just a cherry on top! Wed go again!
The woods never fails. If you have nothing to do on a Friday or Saturday night, this is the go too place. You always will have a good time here. No fights good music great drinks. The people who go here are really drama free.
I strongly advise against The Woods. Their bouncers are disgusting. Ive never felt so humiliated for being a woman and an immigrant. The two huge bouncers FORCIBLY PUSHED me out of the bar for wanting to talk to the manager. I got there and showed my NYC ID (which is a legal document that I needed to get in a waiting list, show proof of residence, passport and visa to get) and they said they didnt take it. I explained that and that I never had trouble ANYWHERE else in the city, drinking or getting in. Nonetheless they were super rude while they said I needed a state ID. I said that Im an international student and I dont/cant have one. They proceed to say I could only get in with my passport. So I explained that as any resident alien I dont walk around with my passport as its so valuable and I need it to stay in the country. I asked if my brazillian ID and a copy of my passport on my phone could do. They rudely said no, only my passport. Is it really that a club in the most international city in the world does not take any international people?? (Because none in them in their right mind would carry their passport on a night out!) I politely asked to speak with the manager and they REFUSED to call him. It was absurd! Without raising my voice I said I wouldnt leave until the manager was called as I had the right to talk to him. One of them proceeded to PUSH ME FORCIBLY until I was outside. It was the worst experience I had in a bar/club in the city.
Loved the chill vibe here….reasonable drink prices…a rare find in NYC. Nice space with food area in the back which is open all night I think…another rare find. Fish tacos and djs were on point!!!
Great space with great DJs. Good for large groups.
Great bar. I visited on New Years Eve (always a horrible night to be at a bar) and had a great time. The staff was very attentive not only serving guests, but also maintaining the establishment (replacing empty paper towel dispensers, etc.) The back bar is a nice alternative to the front one, and the food is wonderful, especially after a couple of (reasonably priced!) drinks.
They let too many people in 😭
Seemed cool. Got served quickly by a friendly girl who seemed to enjoy her job. With friends, late on a Saturday, was able to chat without shouting. Liked it.
I only go on wednesdays because it’s lesbian night. good music, pricey but really good drinks, and the food is amazing. i’ve gone on a weekend before and it wasn’t as lit as wednesday.
Was meeting a friend at this bar, by myself in the cold and was denied entry because the doorman didn’t believe my ID, even though it was clearly me and I’m well above the age. Asked for a manager and he did nothing about the issue. Will never come back after how ridiculous the situation was. Never in my life have I experienced something like that, clearly the staff need to be trained better to spot out fake IDs cause I’m sure they’ve let in plenty of underaged kids.
So my buddy slipped up and apparently we went on heh hum woman appreciation night *wink wink* so hey couldnt complain about the man to woman ratio =D. The place is spacious with in door and out door mingle room. Did not feel cramped and music was playing well enough throughout. They also serve food where I had the fried pickles and burgers (9 bucks for the burger w/ no sides). Cocktails are good, I had the old english that came in a very colorful cup but hell long as it tastes good. The reason this place gets 3 stars is because its cash only...? Like wth? Not sure how common that is around here but when the food can be paid with a card and the drinks cant, thats just silly. Probably would go again if my friend wanted...probably.*update so apparently they do accept cards inside. Who knew :-D so with that said good cocktails and bar food with good space to mingle inside or out. Not bad at all
Its just an amazing spot!
Just came back from The Woods where I decided to have a beer tonight. I came across a pretty sad situation. This girl came with her dog and the poor animal could barely stand. He was acting like a drunk person, peeing and puking everywhere. That situation freaked me out, so I went to speak with the young lady. Apparently the puppy dog was stoned. “What do you mean?” I said. “Were you smoking with your dog?”, she said: “Oh no, he ate the weed.” “What?! And what are you doing here? Like, seriously?! They are playing loud music, people are drinking and dancing, and you brought your sick dog to a party night after eating your weed???”.I’m pro-animal as is my best friend (she has a dog, too) and decided to call the cops to know what to do in that situation. So she called and they said to ask the bouncer to talk to her, ask her to leave, and go home preferably. So we spoke to the bouncer and he did nothing. We are glad that we spoke to the bartenders because they reacted the same way as us and went to speak to the girl, but she didn’t want to leave. The manager was not at the place, but I can’t believe the bouncer did nothing to help. The place shouldn’t even allow animals there so late.. it was a party at night for goodness sake. I’m extremely disappointed and not going back to The Woods anymore. If we can’t change people’s minds, we should at least be responsible for them if we can.
Nice space. Nice bartenders. The drinks are cheap but I bought like 6 drinks and wasn’t drunk.
These guys charged me $19.59 for a single pint of Brooklyn Lager. I figured it was an honest mistake that could be easily rectified so I sent a polite email to their contact address. No response. I called 3 times, no one picked up. Ill be disputing the charge on my credit card unless I get a response to this post.
The place is not bad but the people working in it..oh Gosh! Security didnt wanted to let me in after a smoke outside after themselves have allowed me to go out(it wasnt crowded yet so you can see/recognized me). I was there since earlier and had a tab that was keeping going. They didnt care, I couldnt even go back inside to pay until a long discussion. Bartender busy flirting with girls (until the night started and more people came behind the counter/girls were nic and professionals). Long story short, 2 starts.dont think of coming back.
Spacious bar with a dance floor. The drinks are not too expensive. Tacos and empanadas served here are a great food option.
Thought the establishment was a great place to party. The bouncers were kind to me but they werent kind to my cousin, the blonde bartender was really cute and had a huge butt. 😍😍😍 It was a cool night.
Some of the worst music I’ve ever heard in my entire life. The establishment’s DJ claim that they do not take any request, but the music sucks!! The DJs are dancing more to the music than anyone patron visiting the establishment!! Terrible place. And even worse attitudes!
Fish Tacos 🌮 -Excellent.!
Mike the white short bartender over charge me for the second time there. I got 5 drinks and he put on the tab what ever he wants (96$) and he thinks people are drunk and don’t know what they are paying. I have friends that have the same problem there before. He charged 32$ for a gin and tonic and said that someone order more drinks on his name and the card minimum was 20$. They try to get more money from you! Take care!!!
The woods is a great bar and used to have maple bacon sticks in the back. That was my all time favorite and when ever I would have friends from all around the country we would go there to imbibe in food and drink and then explore the rest of Williamsburg. Will definitely go back to check it out again.
This place has the rudest and most entitled bartenders I’ve ever seen at a bar. I used to go a lot before COVID-19 and I just went for the first time again and I would never go back! In a city where there’s thousands of bars to choose from, they should not be treating people like that.
Oh the burritos and that grilled cheese. Omg that grilled cheese. Slightly annoying that they take card for the food but they won’t at the adjacent bar for drinks. You have to go inside if you want to use your card for drinks. They really should streamline all that but whatever. They can do whatever they want since those two menu items are heaven.
Terrible. The most aggressive and unappealing bar in New York. The security is horrible and unfriendly. They kick you out if you disagree with them.
I went on a saturday, the bar was full of people and music was nice. Dessi the Bartender is Funny and Fabulous! 😎
Fun spot for dancing! I definitely like the Friday crowd here over the Saturday crowd - less busy, more room to dance.
I remember the wonderful bartender taking good care of me. Only downside is that the music was just all over the place, I was kind of drunk though, so I dont remember if it was too loud, or too bad, idk. So 5 stars it is.
Service is mixed, I waited 30 minutes for a drink being ignored by the bartender last time I was there.. Im pretty patient but that isnt okay. I had to move to the other end of the bar to be finally served by a different bartender. Also the music was mediocre at best.
Nice backyard, decently priced beer. BUT I had the worst chicken tacos from the stand out back - it was chicken with no seasoning (no even salt and pepper!), shredded cabbage (also no seasoning), and then 1 slice of jalepeno.
I’m in love with this place!! Music was so good and the bartender Paul took a good care of me and my party! Definitely will be back!
THIEF BARTENDERS STAY AWAY!!! Left my credit card here for a couple days and some bar back must have taken it for a joy ride just now, 500 DOLLARS of fraud charges at foot locker just came in as PHYSICAL CARD SWIPES. So we all know you have it scumbag. Never stepping near this place again.
Very chill spot. The AC was out when we went but I think that just added to the vibes, everyone danced and had fun. Also theres an outside setting area in case you get too hot.
This place more for the vibe and certainly not about the drinks which are often tasteless and watered down. The main pro is this place tends to have good live music and its right on the water in Williamsburg making it close to other places if your bar hopping.Pro tip: there is a neat taco truck in the back with decent drunk food.
Superb place for food, drinks and dance - DJ Cozi always on point with the vibesAlways having a wao! time here
Nice place to dance and hear music. But in the back there is a mini Mexican restaurant that you can order tacos, burritos, empanadas, etc thats authentic and really good. The pescado (fish) tacos and carnitas (pork) tacos were really awesome.
It’s a good idea to post on your website when you’re hosting a private party.
Kind of basic, gives you the feeling of having a real brooklyn experience but not really. Packed and sweaty, waiting on line sucks, sometimes there is covered. That being said. It is a great place to go when you are 23 and just moved to the city. It is full of other bright eye and bushy tailed 23 years olds who are excited to have recently moved to the city. It is also a great place to get an STD which has its plus and minus. All and all not for me because im old and bitter now. They have a great happy hour and good tacos
Fun bar for hanging out late night for drinks, quick bite and dancing. Love the courtyard in between two sections. Probably most fun on late weekend nights (warning: gets crowded!).
Eh... Okay bar. One of those places where they dont try hard to create much ambience. Its all about packing in as many people as possible. Distressed decor, hipster food shack in the back (fine, but not worth a trip), loud modern hip hop, packed with hipsters...
Good bar and good music. Its open late in the week and drinks arent too expensive. Love the atmosphere and its just really relaxed attitude and fun bar
This bar is phenomenal. The bartenders and staff are friendly and professional. Makes me feel welcome and want to come back. Always enjoy my experience here.
Good place to have a drink and dance. The music is alright, but sometimes gets kind of busy on the weekends. Very popular for the after work crowd during the week
Great place to just kick back and enjoy a drink. Came here on an early Sunday evening. Enjoyed the game and a few drinks. Bartender was great. Very friendly. Would definately come here again.
Nice place, but when I visited it was nearly dead so couldnt really experience much joy. Maybe good for larger groups of people to chill.
Ive been going to The Woods for a few months now whenever I ended up in Williamsburg. Drinks are average and not water down thats when I drink my gin and ginger ale. They occasionally have a good deal like a Tecate and a shot for $6 or so. The place picks up usually after 11-12. There is always a DJ playing anything from Disclosure to MJ. Depending on the night they will charge you a cover. The second time i was there my MK jacket with my car keys in it were stolen. Got my keys back, jacket was gone for good. BTW their phone number doesnt work if you lose anything. Just show up.The best is that there is an indoor and outdoor bar area. There is a lot of seating if with a large group of friends and another outside bar. in the winter its equipped with heat lamps. Have evening munchies and youre not Kosher; get a bacon stick. Heaven on a stick. For REAL. Basically its just porkbelly drizzled in maple syrup. Im not talking about Aunt Jemima syrup. All and all I always have a good time there..and pretty sure you will too!
Not a bad place if youre looking to dance. The outside area/bar is nice to cool off or to be outside in the summer. The bathroom line is brutal on a Saturday night
Awesome bar under the bridge in Brooklyn. They have a great drink selection at decent prices, killer DJs turning up the dancefloor and my favorite is the greenhouse-like structure out back that houses a unique and meaty food truck style eatery. Grab a drink, hang out there and youll have a fun night.
Three Jewish male friends of mine tried to get into The Woods on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, and they were denied entry on the basis of them being visibly Jewish. They were never in the bar before, and the guard at the door refused to let them in claiming that it is a gay and lesbian night, while heterosexual couples were coming and going freely. In an effort to uncover his true intent, they told the guard that they were gay. He then changed his story, mumbling about them being seen a day earlier doing something. In fact, none of them were ever in the bar. When pressed further, he stopped answering as to why hes denying them entry, only responding that he is following orders. Please do not support racist and bigoted establishments, no matter against whom theyre discriminating.
Cool vibes , the DJ on the weekends is alright but he tends to play old songs (sometimes). Overall the place is fun and liquor is fire.
I love the woods. It usually gets pretty packed on the weekend but its still a fun vibe. Lots of dancing and fun atmosphere. Great drink specials as well!
Live, young, diverse crowd. The music bumps and the people are genuinely there to enjoy themselves. The drinks are priced on part with other places in the area.
Dark and Woody, ha, The Woods has an outdoor area right by the Williamsburg bridge. You can eat delicious, reasonably priced food (United States and Mexican combo). Drinks are delicious and also reasonably priced. Their music spans across decades and genres AND their Wednesday night LGBT party is where its at. There is some gentrifying privilege in the mix (I mean it is in Williamsburg) and lots of original brooklynites (such as myself), which is quite nice!
Great if you want to dance with str8 people but don’t want the frat vibe to be at level 10
Ordered takeout at 2am here and the food was great. The portion of the chicken fingers was big enough to be shared by 2 people and last 2 meals.
The woods was cool. It had decently cheap drink specials. Beer and a shot for around $7. The crowd can get a bit college-y and broish, but over all I liked it.
Came with friends for a drink. Huge location enjoyed the ambience and the staff were great!
Awesome BK bar -- fun and funky decor. Awesome back outdoor area. Fun and friendly bar tenders! Cant wait to go again.
Wouldn’t allow my registered service dog inside the establishment. The police were called but with all the new restrictions were not able to come investigate as it was a civil offense and not criminal.
Very packed place very busy good drinks no need for a cover at the door
Came here to meet my friends, its alright, although I wish the DJ had some variety with music, it was just mostly rap/hip-hop.
This is a beautiful bar. It’s huuuuuge. There’s a dj booth and enough room for dancing 🕺🏽 there’s also a cute out door area and it’s covered in the winter. In there there is a second bar and a place to get food. Wednesdays are gaylesbian night and I’ve gone with friends.
If youre a lesbian, this place is awesome on a Wednesday. Drinks and food all in one place all night! Music kinda sucks tho.
Been to this place once and thought it was a good place to hangout for drinks and eats! The backyard is definitely the place youll want to hang out at...lots of wooden tables, trees, and a half open roof for a good breeze while you drink and eat. I really enjoyed eating the BLT sandwiches that they had, just because they have giant slabs/thick cut bacons in them. The bacon is the best part of the whole sandwich...glazed and perfectly made to perfection, and you can actually taste the difference between a regular thin cut bacon and a giant slab of bacon, but any cut of bacon is always good! After a few drinks and some satifying pork in your belly, you can take a walk on the Williamsburg Bridge, which is conveniently located behind the block, to digest and enjoy the scenary of Williamsburg. Ill definitely be making my way back to the Woods, not because it has a cool name, but because within the woods there are delicious eats, like their BLT sandwiches!=)
Very cool place. The vodka blueberry lemonade was tasty. I only had French fries with cheese they were decent
I only just discovered this treasure of a bar right by domino park. Great drinks with good music, im going back to try their food
Very chilled environment, drinks was on point 👌.. Furg the bartender was very professional and a cool guy. I will be returning soon.
A great neighborhood spot for dancing and drinks. It’s pretty large with an additional outdoor space in the back
Drinks are yummy, djs are great. Wednesdays are my fav night to go
First time I went there I had to figure out who the DJ was because the music was so crazy on point it was an amazing great experience the chelf in the back gave me a free dessert I had a wonderful time and that bacon is amazing!
Denied my wife who had a service animal, not a pet. We carry documentation but will be sure to let the authorities know.
Friday night was a vibe. Lots of space for dancing and the music was great
Great food they have a dj dance floor nice music ...young CROWD. Wednesday gay night..🥂
Great bar, fun vibes and dance floor. The fish tacos were huge and delicious. Positive vibes. Good time.
Nice neighborhood bar and performance venue with a cool backyard area . Great drinks and tasty eats
Nice spot well decorated the most beautiful ladies and polite you can find in the whole brooklyn borough , the bartenders are extremely Hot ... polite securities hands down.
Nice bar, great bartenders. But the DJ was wack, kept playing 10 seconds of Papa Roach between hip-hop with weak blends.
Usually have a good time when i go as i live close by i enjoy being able to surround myself with loud music and dancing but also take a quick break and enjoy outside environment. havent had an issue in the past
Brilliant atmosphere and decor plus friendly and accommodating bartenders. Sadly the cocktails were horrifically unbalanced and at Brooklyn prices ($13) thats a pretty big letdown. Stick with beer and shots and youll love it.
Best spot in Brooklyn!! shout out ferg and Sam fr!! best bartenders in nyc !!!
I really enjoyed myself. They serve good food in the back. Good music. Nice people. I will be returning.
Place is pretty cool, nice open patio with food truck in the back good dance floor and music. Def a good place to check out if youre in the area
The best place to just go out and have a good time. The DJ is great . Bartenders are so nice and the vibe is just relaxing, enjoyable, and carefree.
They need a new dj. Its Saturday night and not a single person is actually dancing. Its 130am.
Cool vibe, I like the dancing space! Theres a taco truck incase you get hungry. The music was also pretty great!
This is the perfect place for HP, but it is also great to have fun with friends, dance and enjoy the brooklyn vibe, you must arrive early or wait for a long time bc the place is not so big. it gets messy latter on.
Clean friendly large spot with indoor and out side area .Good amount of bathroom and Food was great. will stop by again.
Great laid back atmosphere with great dj and some serious dancing if you are into it like i am. Had a blast.👍
Open dive bar not too croded, can be hard to get a drink, nice back yard. Actually Ive never been on the weekend but weeks are chill.
