Really incredible space tucked away in a backyard in gowanus. went to the women-only session on Sunday, vibe was welcoming and warm. Indoor space is very crowded (steam room can only fit 3 and it’s a little cramped) so I didn’t spend too much time in there, but rotating between the dry spas, jacuzzi, and cold plunge was lovely. There are also hammocks and chezs where you can just relax in the sun. overall a lovely experience, but definitely a liiiiiittle cramped.

What a lovely little oasis in Brooklyn. The people were super friendly and accommodating. The space is soothing and smells terrific. I made time for the sauna and hydro pool before my AMAZING massage. The massage with Ben was among the best Ive ever had. So thorough with the right mix of pain and pleasure. Hes great about checking in during, he addressed the areas that needed work and gave me so much more. I will definitely be back.

WOW!!! What can I say that hasnt already been said by all these amazing reviews! I spoke with Liz (who was so warm and lovely on the first call) to book the couples Staycation package for my 1 year marriage anniversary with my wife. In true Man fashion, I only called 2 weeks in advance, which for a place like this I was sure would be too short notice. But Liz and her team made it work and squeezed us into the schedule on our anniversary day.I was so excited leading up to the day of the experience, as it was a surprise to my wife as well. When we arrived Liz and her team (shout out to Alyssa, Jae, Sarah!) were so warm and welcoming, and explained how the experience works. Its important to note that my wife and I only get massages on vacations, which is barely once a year, and never really do anything in the realm of relaxing experiences, so we were newbies to how this all worked. We were given comfy slippers and a tour of the facilities, which include rain showers, steam room, sauna, hot tub, cold plunge, hammock, lounge area, and a variety of hot/cold drinks (tea and infused water) and snacks (strawberries, nuts, etc).We spent the bulk of the first 2 hours enjoying the steam room and hot tub. We could only last in the sauna about 3-4 minutes! And then lounging in the sun on the nice wooden loungers. Instead of fully relaxing, we may have talked shop and work the whole time...oops. Liz said if thats what we find relaxing then its ok (thanks for understanding, Liz!). We applied the clay mask to each other (very romantic) and wife pointed out how my non-use of sunscreen has been affecting my face.We had the whole place to ourselves and it felt like a private oasis. I was wondering if youd feel strange being essentially in the backyard of a townhouse, but it felt so private and peaceful that it didnt bother me at all. When it came time for the hour-long hot stone massage, we took a quick rinse and laid under the pergola, ready for Liz and Saras magic hands. They are STRONG! We both felt like jello after, having all our stress melted away (I think Sara called it steamrolled which is hilarious). It lightly rained during the massage, and since the pergola was covered, we didnt get wet and the sounds were an amazing experience. All in all, a truly wonderful experience and I am so happy I found cityWell Brooklyn. Thank you from me and Tiff for being part of our special day. We will definitely be back before the next anniversary!

Had been wanting to visit a long time and then was given a gift card so made a reservation. After spending a lot of time looking at the list of services, I settled on the full body luxury massage, a 90 min, full body massage with hot stones. There wasn’t lot of availability in the immediate future that worked with my schedule (needed a weekend) so I had to settle on a date quite far in advance with Sara. By the time that rolled around, a friend had a massage with her and said it was wonderful. I was not let down by the time my date arrived. Sara was wonderful, approachable, communicative, and kind. She took her time to explain certain things and if I had questions, she had answers. It was the most lovely 90mins and I left feeling much better than I had entered and that feeling has stayed with me. She has heat seeking device fingers for all the knots and stuff in my neck and back and truly worked them out with patience and ease. It all felt wonderful. While I was only there for the massage, which took place in the cabin, I did get walked through the space. It’s a very cool concept but I think I’ll just be sticking to massages here and in truth, if I want a bathhouse, I’ll just go to a bathhouse, as I have before. Will come again!

My partner booked me a prenatal massage with Liz, the owner last week. Im approaching my 3rd trimester and have a really high risk pregnancy with quite a few issues. Considering on Liz’s profile she says she’s a trained doula, my husband thought it would be an equally great time to pick her brain about some birthing questions I had/post-natal care related to my pregnancy concerns (potentially even inquiring about her doula services). Now, while Liz was incredibly kind, caring, and offered a wonderful massage, it was clear that she is not a doula. She offered to send me recs for doulas and even insisted she try and contact a doula or midwife friend before my massage to ask about some of my pregnancy complications (all of which a trained doula would have been familiar with). Anyway, this isn’t a bad review by any means, but more about knowing what you’re paying for/expectations. Massage was great, but definitely didn’t leave with any doula knowledge. Just wish her bio was more accurate. Otherwise, beautiful facility and do recommend checking it out.

I want to keep this place a secret because I know once word gets out there will be a waitlist. Good for the business, bad for me.This place is an amazing self care oasis in the back of a Brooklyn brownstone. They have a beautiful rain shower, steam room, sauna, hot tub, lounge area, tea, water, snacks, coloring books, towels and bliss. You wont want to leave even after spending two hours here. This little gem is a great staycation hygge living and will be even better in the cold of winter. I would give this a million stars if I could. Will be back to try a massage next.

CityWell is a mini urban oasis of calm, designed for a short stint of self care. I took advantage of a Backyard Bliss 2 hour session and magically had the whole place to myself. The staff are so, so lovely and kind. My 45 minute massage was peaceful and restorative. I loved the steam room and the hot tub and the hammock and the snacks. I would absolutely go back but do 3 hours! They are open rain or shine or snow. Thank you for a lovely day!

All I can say is, BEN! The best massage I have received in a long time. What qualifies the best massage for me you may be asking?- intuitive and knowledgeable touch- gently checking in with me (perfect amount of communication) to ensure comfort and preferred pressure.- aromatherapy option- attuned to my body’s reactions.-offered hot stones- balance of therapeutic and Swedish massage techniques.- taking the time to ask questions before getting started.- and just overall amazing intuitive technique!Ben did all of this and more. Definitely a very calming and comforting presence that gives you permission to relax on the treatment table. So, if you didn’t gather already, I highly recommend Ben’s services!Oh… one more thing! The spa manager (I think she’s a manager anyway because she thoroughly helped me find my e-gift certificate that I had lost and made things very smooth for me when putting together my appointment. Plus she brought me really refreshing lemon lime water, perfect for after the massage.

My daughter and i shared a hydrotherapy session, and left in a state of bliss. The backyard at cityWell inspired us and provided the perfect background for our escape to the land of rejuvenation. It’s unexpected to stumble upon a hot tub, sauna, outdoor shower, hammock, and fresh fruit in such a nondescript location. I recommend the clay mask, which was soothing, even for sensitive skin. My daughter gives it 10 out of 10 stars, as do I. We did not get a massage, but imagine it would be extra blissful. If you are looking for a relaxing experience that will calm the nervous system, this may be just the place for you.

The smells of Palo Santo and mint instantly brought me to a happy place. The attentiveness of both the owner Liz and the hostess was amazing. Before my experience began I was already pleased. To my surprise my massage was with Liz, how lucky was I! Fluffy slippers, comfy robe, lemon water...the ambiance was so perfect. Hot stones, hot towels, customized aromatherapy and magical hands; a perfect combination to melt away years of stress. This is an amazing place that you almost cant believe exists -- a warm and wonderful spa snuggled right into Gowanus speakeasy-like. The best part is Liz, the owner (and massage therapist, and all around dreammaker). And then made her guest of honor feel feted and relaxed. This is a special spot. Go.

Cannot say enough good things about cityWell. My partner and I went for a special Valentines Day spa treatment and the second we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and attention. Marilyn and owner Liz were amazing--you can tell they both really care about their clients. The grounds are beautiful and clean. Seeing as how we were the only couple allowed on premises during our treatment, I felt very safe Covid-wise, and it provided a really exclusive and specialized feeling for us. Truly a slice of heaven. If you are looking to support a small local business while also having an amazing time, look no further than cityWell.

I came here with a friend to celebrate her birthday. We’d booked two massages together but they ran short a massage therapist. So they kindly gifted us access to hydrotherapy— steam room, sauna and hot tub so that while Liz worked on one of us outside under a pergola, the other got to relax. Liz, the owner, used hot stones and aromatic oils and took her time with each of us. Having not had a massage since COVID, this was a real treat. We had the place to ourselves so it made for a perfect afternoon. Much thanks to Liz for making her birthday and our day together special.

The backyard is truly something else, a mini oasis (especially in winter). I found my introduction to acupuncture here through Natalie who is incredible. It has changed my health and life. CityWell Brooklyn is an amazing urban oasis for self care and wellness. As soon as you enter the door your energy transforms to a calming and restorative space. Ive had massages, body treatments, attended hydrotherapy sessions and special events here - highly recommend for your self care or gifts for others. Also their line of body care items is exactly what I want to take home with me in between visits! The Restore aromatherapy spray is a favorite of mine and something I’ve shared with friends and family as gifts. The mixture of scents makes the perfect grounding spray, which is something I use most nights on my pillow case and face to relax into sleep and calm or in between stressful moments in my day. The body wash is also a delightful aromatic experience to add to your daily shower. I honestly cannot get enough of their products and services and am so glad we have this oasis in Brooklyn.

My friends and I reserved a private steam, soak and sauna and couldnt believe how reasonably priced it was for the rain showers, steam room, lovely outdoor hot tub and beautiful cedar sauna - I could have stayed a lot longer but may have fallen asleep if I did. Everything was clean and beautifully arranged with amazing attention to detail; it smelled incredible, there were Aesop face and body products, fresh tea and clementines, and nice robes. Citywell is awesome! The moment we walked through the door, the aromatherapy smelled amazing. We were lucky enough to get the whole place to ourselves. My boyfriend got the full body lux massage and I opted for the revive body scrub. Before the scrub, you get a choice to transition through each hydrotherapy station (steam room, sauna, hot tub). The steam room was my favorite and it was like being in hot yoga, but with aromatherapy and not having to smell someone else’s sweat. The scrub was the best thing I’ve ever done. Beth was great and she got into all the nooks and crannies. My bf enjoyed the massage with Liz. She was careful since he had pulled his back from weight lifting that morning. We’ll be coming back for more. I highly recommend to go here if you want some self love.
