Kay Beauty Spa Lounge & Nail Bar

This was my second time here and I actually like this place. My issue today is I was charged an extra $20, totaling $92 for a basic gel French manicure because I had different polish colors. I asked the person doing my nails for the price prior to adding the colors and I was not made aware. It’s only fair customers are informed of additional prices prior to their services… especially if they asked.

I had an appointment for a pedicure at 10:30, I got there 5-10 min early and noticed that the store was closed. I realized that they open 10:30 so I figured they would open around that time. Nope, I waited until 10:50 and it was still dead closed. So basically stood outside and waited for 30 min for nothing. I called them too and nothing. Wouldn’t recommend going here and especially not around opening hours. This photo was taken 10:50 which is when I decided to leave. Absolutely ridiculous.

I love this place! My nails are always perfect. I always make an appointment via the website, highly recommend doing that so you dont have to wait. Check this place out, you wont regret it!

I was there for a colonic. It was my first time getting one and the young lady made me feel very comfortable and the setting was private and comfortable. That was fine but the front attendants attempt to upsell me was annoying but expected. Overall its a pleasant environment and a cool experience 😎.

I would not recommend. They were understaffed and very rude.Made an appointment through classpass and when we showed up they said, “we already sent our nail tech home”. They rescheduled us for the next day at 5pm. When we got there for the rescheduled appointment, they were understaffed and said “your appointment was at 4. We can’t help you.”I can understand being understaffed, but being rude and refusing service after paying is another thing.

So I had high expectations and I’m kind of disappointed. I told my nail tech I prefer my nails long but she could cut them a little. She cut my right big toe short and left the left one long. When I pointed it out, she said she would fix it at the end. At the end, she filed the right toe even shorter and the left was still longer. I came home and had to file it again and it and my toes are already sore from all the filing in the salon. Additionally, I also noticed not all my prior red polish was removed prior to this nail polish application. The picture attached was before I attempted to fix it & I can’t even fix it properly because the other one is so short. The nail tech was nice, but I’m upset from the communication and execution. The saving grace to this is my wax was good. I expressed I’ve been burned before and kay was very aware of the wax temp and made sure I was comfortable. Maybe it’s just the tech I had for my nails.Update: came home and showered and I still have hairs on my inner lips. She mentioned some the hairs were short and were stubborn to come up. These hairs are not those, they are full grown. The only reason I’m not doing 1 star is because both women that serviced me were both nice, but the services are not worth $130 (including tip).

So...I was wearing press on nails during covid. It wasnt working anymore, and i was blessed to find kays.. first off. Its walking distance from my house... kay is black girl magic. She does hair. Nails. Skin care. Colonists. Everything. She has a wonderful staff. Elvia who does my nails is amazing. Its no drama in the shop. Its comfy and i never leave disappointed...

I love this place.Although the clarity of the different acrylics wasnt made clear to me before the work was done, Elvira did a GORGEOUS JOB. When I tell you I felt PAMPERED... she was gentle, professional and definately amazing in her craft. Im not a pink person, but these came out SO BEAUTIFUL that Im obsessed. Just the care and focus she had while working on my nails made me feel like Ill be taken care of. Ive been looking for a nail salon since Ive moved here (nearly 2 years now) and this place is my official one. Thanks Elvira & Thea !! Im coming back for my fill!

I was not satisfied with my gel manicure last time, they did not fix my cuticles and the polish was blotchy in places. I was told I could come back and have it fixed for free whenever I was able to go back. I scheduled an appointment just now and was told I could come in, just to get w call 5 minutes later saying that they had spoken to the owner and they said they would need to charge me full price to fix the nails. As much as I want to support this business, I will certainly not be returning.Pictures were taken minutes right after the manicure was done.

I love my nails! This is the first time in a long time that I’m walking out of a salon happy and satisfied with my nails and I’ve tried several places. This may be my new nail spot! Elvia is a master at shaping and even though I was her last customer of the night, I never felt like she was rushing my nails. She took her time making sure each nail was straight and shaped correctly. Plus they are decently priced.

I have enjoyed my time at this spa. My sister and I were on vacation. I booked the couples ultimate package for my twin and I. We decided to splurge so the price was $450. The couples package included 3 services: mani & pedi; Swedish massage; and hydration facial. Each service was about an hour. The couples package included complimentary food and drinks. And boy was the food amazing!For me, I thought the Swedish message was the best. Sonia did an absolutely amazing job! She is so kind and skilled. For my sister, she thought the hydration facial was the best! Sonia also did the facial for us! The mani pedi was also very good. Our nail technicians were amazing.The downfall of this place is some of the communication and customer service. For instance, when we first arrived the staff was confuse about the package we booked. They did not seem to know that the package covers 2 people. However, they got the owner on the phone and the package and all it entails was clarified! Secondly, the receptionist did not seem to know what she was doing on the computer. Thirdly, when we booked the package, we paid $225 and then paid the rest at the end of our time there. So, at the end of our time there, my sister went up to the receptionist to pay. At first it appeared as though everything went smoothly plus apparently the service was on sale but them the owner came out and said she was doing something on the computer and that the “discounted price” was a mistake so my sister and I had to pay the $50 that we weren’t charged. Up top of the $50 was the $22 processing fee so we paid $72 after their mistake of charging us the wrong price.Overall, this place is amazing because their workers do a good job executing the services. But this place could work on its overall operations and customer service. One way they could have provided better customer service was to not charge us the $72 when the error was their fault especially given the fact that my sister and I tipped generously. And they could work on their operations by making sure all workers understand the packages being offered plus for a package like the couples package, it would have been nice if both person could have been provided each service at the same time.

It took almost 3 hours to finish my nails (I had a very simple, one colour set), I was charged way more than what I booked for online and I wasn’t informed of the price changes until it was time to check out, and my set was poorly done. The nail techs didn’t seem very experienced either which would explain why I got this shape when I asked for coffin…Update: After hearing about my experience, Kay immediately reached out to me to schedule an appointment to fix my nails herself. She did an impeccable job.

I’m new to NY and was on the hunt for an amazing nail tech, Kay & Elvia are AMAZING! This was my first time here and I got a gel mani with polygel & gel pedi. Kay did my mani and it’s flawless! She was super helpful when assessing my nails prior to starting figuring out what kind of gel I had before (because I had no idea) and how to give me the best manicure possible. I wear my natural nails so wanted something to keep them strong and long. I had 2 broken nails and she fixed them right up no problem. Elvia did my pedi and was just as amazing. Some of the best work I’ve had done on my nails!! Thank you both so much! I’ll be back every 2 weeks!

We got a last minute appointment and they were just Great ! The receptionist was such a great help and the nail artist did such an amazing job! they were the sweetest people ever! One week has past and my daughters nails still look amazing!!!!!

Every time I go my nails are perfect and they keep really well. Everyone is super nice and the place itself is clean, cute, highly recommend

Got a Brazilian here and could not believe how painless and quick it was. When Kay told me it was finished I was surprised! She also got every single hair out as well. Could not recommend this place enough for waxing.

The place is cute and has the feel of a private beauty salon. I went for the colon hydro therapy and ionic foot bath. My only suggestion to then would be to provide vitamins liquid or pill afterward to rejuvenate the body after the experience. Or to tell patrons to take boosters after. Other wise place is very clean, owner is lovely and I will be going back. Added photos to show the ionic foot bath process ... I only gave a 4 because of the lack of education for care after the colon therapy.

If I could give zero stars I would so rude and unprofessional. The prices are ridiculous and they are Only 2 ladies and only one of them know how to do acrylics….. they’re super slow. Don’t come here.

I booked an appointment for my mother and I to get our nails done and for my mother to get a massage. When we came into the salon the front desk told us the person who does the massages wasnt in, so we said thats okay and went on to have our nails done. Never were we offered to reschedule the massage nor did we confirm rescheduling because my grandmothers funeral was the next day.Fast forward to the next day, Im at my grandmothers funeral when I get a call. I pick up and its the spa telling me I missed my massage appointment. I told them that was yesterday and the massage tech wasnt in. I was told that I rescheduled, which both my mother and I remember never happening. I tell them Im at my grandmothers funeral and if Im really going to be charged the cancelation fee. The front desk goes to talk to someone and confirms Ill be fully charged for the appointment that I didnt even book. Why would I reschedule the same time as my grandmothers wake out in Queens? So Im out $95.This place basically scammed me. Avoid.

What a great experience. I was welcomed I was also given the instructions nicely in expectations and process of colonic, Kay was extremely knowledgeable and kind. Definitely would recommend and do the three cycles for best results!

I cannot say enough good things about Kay and the services here! I recently went in to get my nails done for my birthday and saying I’m absolutely OBSESSED with the results is an understatement! I love my nails so much, Kay is so talented and a true artist and professional. I love her work and could not be happier with the results!! If you want to smile every time you look at your nails and get mad compliments from strangers - then this is the only place to go!

Great Energy and people friendly place. It’s clean and comfy as well , I liked that the owner played mellow music as entertainment.My mani and pedi were on point 💕 I also used the colon hydrotherapy I’ll recommend that as well . Overall my experience was awesome and I’ll visit again.

My appointment was at 10:45. I showed up at 10:51. The nail tech didn’t start on my nails until after 11. Paused on my nails to help with a pedicure. No communication. Kept stopping to talk to the receptionist . I requested medium length square nails with a red French. She took so long that I dropped the French. And kept it plain. Additionally midway through I mentioned the shape looked more coffin. She assured me it would get fixed. It ultimately was still a coffin. I’m annoyed I paid $82 for a nail set I didn’t want. I won’t be returning. This was overpriced and basic.To add insult to injury. The owner texted me saying they didn’t charge me properly. She claimed they charged me less . (Which they did not. I was charge correct I have the receipt) and made a point to mention that my 6 minute tardiness is what caused the nail tech to take so long. Although she didn’t even begin right when I arrived.

Best gel nails I have gotten in the area! Great selection of colors and high-quality gel polish. I have been getting my nails done here since July 2023 mostly with Gladys and she slays every single time! My nails usually last 3-4 weeks without chipping or breaking too, which is unheard of with my thin, fragile nails.I’ve also had Kay and Elvia before and they’re amazing as well. You can’t go wrong here!

One of the most beautiful manicures Ive ever gotten! Both the owner, Kay, and my nail technician Elvia were super friendly and sweet, and Elvia did a perfect job. Its hard to believe this is regular polish, its as smooth and shiny as some SNS and gel manis Ive gotten. They had a ton of colors; it was hard to decide. And I liked the cute little flower petals in the pedicure footbath. :-)

I am a man who appreciates keeping my hands and feet clean and manicured. Great service and care and pricing are good. Local Asian shops are cheaper, but the quality of service is minimal, and they tend to have a cold attitude. I prefer to go to establishments that are pleasant and respectful. I would much rather pay more for service and feeling welcomed. I noticed the women who come here are regulars and enjoy chatting away and always feel comfortable, which I think is a good sign.

Maybe the nail techs are good. But do not, I repeat, do not book a massage with this place. They’re so disorganized. I booked a massage and the masseuse had to reschedule at the last minute. I wasted my gas going there, but understood. I rescheduled for weeks later per my schedule. Then I received a call for yet another rescheduling the day before my appt. I was told the masseuse only provides her schedule a week in advance. SO THEN WHY ARE YALL BOOKING APPOINTMENTS WEEKS IN ADVANCE?? Anyway, I was given the option for the same day or a different time the following. I said I could come the same day. Shortly afterwards, I realized that I had to stay home for a package to be delivered. I called back to take the other option and was told that they wouldn’t be able to cause I canceled at the last minute. Nor would they refund my ClassPass points. The woman on the phone played dumb, “I just schedule appointments 😳. Yet, she can’t realize how idiotic it is to schedule appointments weeks in advance when you don’t have the schedule of the masseuse.Also, the glimpse I saw of the massage room in the establishment looked dingy. So honestly I’m glad I didn’t end up getting rubbed down in there.

I had the pleasure of being serviced by Kaymarie when I went in for my Cryoskin treatment. She made sure to answer any and every one of my questions, as well as explain the process thoroughly. I was aware of what to expect during my treatment(s). She was very gentle and made sure that I was comfortable during the treatment. I highly recommend coming here for your services. Kaymarie is very professional and courteous, and she is also very insightful. The place is very charming and inviting, and I hope that they continue to prosper so that they may continue with their great service.

Y’all I’m so happy I found this salon and it’s within walking distance from my home. Kay did my acrylics to PERFECTION. She really cares about making a great set. At one point there was a bubble that had formed under my polish that I didn’t even notice, and she pointed it out to me and took the time to fix it. I’m so impressed by how many specialties this nail salon can offer you. I’m definitely gonna come back regularly for nails and at some point I’d like to try a facial. Thanks Kay!

Such a wonderful salon. I got the Signature Pedi and was really impressed by how gentle Elvira was. I got the 4 Layer Peel facial with Sonia right after my pedicure and loved it. Both services and ladies were amazing.

This salon is now my go-to spot for my self care days. Not only is this place black-owned, but the owner and her staff are dedicated to providing top tier customer service. Everyone is super friendly, warm, and welcoming and definitely make all the customers feel comfortable. Most generic nail salons take 30-40 mins doing an acrylic full set; but Kay and her team ALWAYS take their time, usually spending 2-3 hrs doing my nails. Plus my nails always look nice even after weeks of having them. The prices are fair and worth it for the quality of service that’s being offered. Try it today, I promise you won’t go back to your old salon.

This is my go-to nail salon. Ive been going here for years and have had gel manicures easilylast a month without chipping! Everyone is always impressed with how great my nails look. KBS has a great selection of paint colors, and offers many other beauty services. Theres always an upbeat vibe and enjoyable conversation.

This spa is everything I look for in personal care. The owner, Kay heads a wonderful team of professionals, who are so attentive and easy to engage. I go regularly for the hydrocolonic therapy and so far have found each session satisfying. That is because Kay takes care of every detail, from start to finish. Shes very knowledge and that surely puts me at ease. I am soon going for additional services, such as the detox treatments, and Im confident I wont be disappointed.

Kay Spa is a very clean friendly place of business. Their hands on. The ppl there makes you feel very comfortable. Kay prices are very good. I recommend anyone to go receive Kay services. This lady is superwoman. I shouldve asked if she was the owner because she was definitely holding her own. From hairdresser to sleep therapy. I actually went for colonic. Pleasant experience. She was really informative about the digestive system and colonics. Very cozy homey establishment. I highly recommend.

It was a very great experience!I got a pedicure/manicure and waxed several parts of my body. Kay really made me feel at peace and comfortable during the wax session and she is very knowledgeable! All the workers were polite and establishment was enjoyable! 💅

I went here with my friend last minute on a week night. We were so tired from work and wanted to treat ourselves with pedicures. I am happy we came here! They accommodated us quickly over the phone. They accept Apple Pay which was a relief for myself! They did a great job — my male friend was really satisfied! They were actively removing his calluses and being very thorough with his treatments. I received a very nice massage and light pink natural polish. The service was quick, the staff were friendly, and the music was also very good too (they played classic 90s hip hop). I would love to come again for a manicure! Aesthetically pleasing shop that deserves all the best clients!

Ive been going to Kay Beauty Spa for over a year now. The staff is very nice and friendly.Kay does my nails very nicely. Shes one of the best nail artists that Ive had and I always try to get my nail appointments with her. However, Ive had the rest of the staff work on my nails too and Im always happy with the result.I always get very clean manicures and pedicures there and often get compliments on my nails.The facility is always clean regardless of the time of the day.The staff and the customers always wear masks, which gives me a peace of mind.I highly recommend this place.

Got my Colon -hydrotherapy with a release massage in May and it was amazing . The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable . I got a full 45 min session in a clean and sanitized room. I felt wonderful after my session the massages was great . I Would definitely recommend you visit them for Colon-hydrotherapy and all the other wonderful services they offer.I will be back for another session soon.

I was searching for a place to have a colon hydrotherapy procedure and I am so glad that the internet led me to this place. First I must say that the professionalism there is superb. It was my first time having this done and Kay made it an excellent experience for me. She not only answered all my questions but also understood that I was nervous and took time to thoroughly explain and put me at ease. If anyone like me is having this type of service done for the first time I would recommend to go to Kay because she will make sure that you come out with knowledge and a great experience.Thank you Kay.

This place is amazing. I can in for a colon cleanse and it was a wonderful experience the owner is super sweet and talks you through the entire process before you start. She just knows her stuff. 10/10 would recommend. I will definitely be back for another one.

Kay was very helpful in describing the colonic process. It was a good experience overall, I just wasnt aware the colonic would be in an open system. I had previously gotten a closed system colonic and it felt more sanitary. It was a good experience but I probably wouldnt go again

Ok so I just left here, did a colon cleanse and let me tell you. It didn’t feel good but Kay was very nice and detailed. Not sure if I’ll do it again but if I do definitely would go back to her. I survived!

When I searched for a Black Owned Nail Salon in my Bedford Stuyvesant community Kay Beauty Spa came up. That was back in 2020 and Ive been going ever since for repeated pedicures and facials. I love Kay Beauty Spa so much I recommend to friends and family.

The experience at this Spa was top notch. I loved everything about it, the staff, service and space was so clean. After my first visit I made appointments for monthly services. Thank you kindly Kay for making this spa so awesome.

I had a dip set done here. Started chipping after one day. JUST BEFORE I was leaving for vacation 😩. Owner wouldn’t give me a refund but said I could come back for a retry. No problem. I took two days more for the retry to start chipping 🤷🏾‍♀️. The techs were both super nice and gentle, but maybe the products aren’t all good. Also homegirl at the desk was on the phone talking too audibly for too long for my preference. The techs also were talking amongst themselves the entiiiiiiire time. Wasn’t exactly giving “relax.”

Really disappointed in my experience here. My nails took roughly 2.5 hours to complete, are lumpy, uneven and honestly, for $90 - I really expected better quality of service. I felt bad because the lady doing my nails didn’t speak much English, so I really couldn’t communicate much (not her fault or mine) and it was very difficult to try to explain I wanted my nails shaped or straightened more so I just gave up and accepted my fate. She was very kind though and I wish I could have known more Spanish to help her out :/This is my first experience here and probably will be my last. The good reviews for this place really sold me when I was looking for a salon, but for the price and quality, I really can’t justify ever coming here again.

When I moved from Philly to Brooklyn, I tried many different hair and nail salons. But once I got to Kay’s, I knew I found my home. The salon itself is very clean and stylish. And Kay does an amazing job with my hair. She is a true entrepreneur and beautician who can help improve your overall help which will result in healthy hair, skin and nails. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a beauty day here, you can thank me later!

The experience of colon hydrotherapy was horrible for the following reasons:1. Therapy room 🚪 door should be labeled. While I was in the process of performing the therapy another customer in search of the bathroom opened the door by mistake. It was an embarrassing experience for me.2. The staff members assisting with the therapy are Spanish speaking and could not provide instructions regarding this procedure in English. The water built up inside my colon and I was not informed that I needed to push it out. This became very painful to the point where I was forced to push out the water. This was my first and last time doing colon therapy.3. Proper instructions should be provided before and after colon therapy is done.* Staff members were polite and hardworking.

I am a new customer at Kay Beauty Spa Lounge & Nail Salon and Im already hooked. I enjoyed the very clean and peaceful environment that allowed me to have a very relaxing colonic experience. I was also very impressed with the care and attention given by Nicole the therapist. The foot detox was also a very memorable experience and I was quite satisfied with the results. Kay is also very personable and welcoming. I will be returning for further treatments.

The service for the price was such a rip off. I was told one thing and then charged another $5 forMy gel to be removed fromA DRY Gel pedicure. $41 for sow thing that was barely worth a $20 service… and the host was very condescending to me about it.. the lady who did the pedicure was nice and it came out okay, but not great. For all the nail options in the city, this is not worth patronizing

The nail salon did my foot and hand justice. I been going to the foot doctor and put prescription lotion on it and Kay nail salon did the rest. My feet look brand new and soft. I will be going back soon to upkeep it.

Had an appointment with Kay she ran late didn’t even have the courtesy to inform me before hand. I was there for about 20 minutes after my appointment still didn’t show. Hopefully she doesn’t do that to all first time clients but it was definitely a waste of time

Ive came here twice amazing service clean and friendly environment. I came late with my elderly mother and she stayed to accommodate us. I highly recommend this place plus my mother loves the quality. BTW shes picky as hell too.

Second time here and leaving very happy with my Pedi again! The team are amazing at what they do and I 100% recommend them!! Can’t wait till the next time!

Came for an appointment in the evening and while my pedicure turned out okay, my gel mani is bubbly and uneven with the edges of my nails bare. I tried to get my nail tech to fix it but she was rushing out the door because it was close to closing time by the time she finished my mani. She also made my cuticle bleed and the filing in general was quite rough. I’ve paid less for much better service, I may try another time with a different tech but I’m hesitant to return. I will update my review if I come back.

Kay’s is not only affordable but every time I go the staff is super welcoming. I love their GelX Nails - they last so long and are so worth it.

Stay far away!!!! I have never seen such dirty establishment. Incredibly rude and unorganized staff especially Kay-Marie. I also told my friend of mine about it and she said she wished she had known because she had a horrid experience with them denying the existence of covid. Considering their are many salons in the area do yourself a favor and avoid the headache.

Extremely unprofessional, was in contact with the owner a month prior to booking to avoid confusion however the night prior to my appointment I received a phone call saying she didnt realize she was busy for her husbands birthday and was having another do my hair. However my appointment would need to be pushed back an hour which wasnt good for me so an agreement was made for another time and the STYLIST WAS STILL LATE. Owner tried to blame everything inside of taking responsibility for HER error, she had me book under her KNOWING she wasnt going to be around NOR thats she performed those services. She placed me with another who didnt start the time I booked for. Very bad initial interaction with this Salon but my stylist end up doing a great good on my end and was extremely sweet. I will definitely book with Makeda again but the owner DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO RUN A BUSINESS. Makeda please go elsewhere, Kay lack of accountability will ruin that place

Friendly and professional staff that do a great job, but short one star because they need a real nail dryer. I sat drying myself for close to 40 min and my nails are were still messed up because they only had a barely working fan to dry my nails.

Wonderful nail salon 💅🏽. I normally hate getting my nails done because I get so bored ! I had so much fun here and met some really cool people . Also my nails came out great ! Elvie was able to extend my natural nail with acrylic so I didn’t have to get tips , giving me the most dainty manicure. Kay, the owner is a blast to be around and I love how she shapes my eyebrows . This is my new go-to . Instead of dreading getting my nails done , I’m actually looking forward to coming back !

I got services done today and I can say it was wonderful Kay was very informative and at first I was alittle nervous but she help me a lot and the receptionist was so sweet. I highly recommend this place.

My experience was exceptional from the start to end. They were very knowledgeable and any questions you ask was never too silly and they always have an answer.

Absolutely love this place Ive been going here for a few yrs for my haircuts and never ever had a problem, the staff is very professional and friendly especially the owner, and it has a very relaxing environment. I refuse to go anywhere else, as long as this salon is open I will continue to be a customer. As far as people complaining about the prices to each there own personally I rather pay her prices and have a professional with experience do it right, then go somewhere and have them chop my hair or give me a style they want to give me. Moral of the story you get what you pay for and I am always satisfied with what I leave with.
