Dive Bar

A friend of mine told me that I absolutely had to check out Dive Bar so on my way between one thing and the next, I detoured over here. After finding some questionable street parking - there was a carpet of broken glass from a breakin nearby - I stepped inside.This place is... unusual. Ive never been to a joint with a two-level bar which was interesting. At 5pm on a weekday, the vibe was peaceful and light. A few UC girls popped in for shots and got carded. A bunch of locals were hanging out. I simply enjoyed my PBR and the show.

Rude bartender. I go in dressed up also Im gay I asked about a job and had a resume in hand. He ignored me for a whole half hour and when I finally got his attention he looked at me and said you dont look like you belong at this place and I should go somewhere else! 😮 Very unwelcoming, judgmental and not diverse at all.If you dont look like you just woke up and crawled into there then I would avoid it lol

13 health violations!!!! Warning!Worst bar experience of my life , but made for an interesting story to later tell friends. Regarding the health violations, if you check out Yelp it list them all right there.I came in before a UC game to meet some friends and dealt with a male, bald bartender. Reading through some reviews and even very old ones, I am not alone in my experience here and not alone with this bartender I had a bad experience with. I heard he always is a bit cheeky and sarcastic, but never have I been treated so bad. I saw a tab from the customer before me with a $0 tip on their receipt, that should have been my first warning sign. Even my friend was saying his customer service made her feel uncomfortable and we wanted to quickly finish our drinks and leave. He was in an OSU jersey that day and they just lost to Michigan, so maybe that was it?It wasnt crowded when we got there and not even a full bar, typically in that situation you dont have to flag the bartender down. But he barely acknowledged me until I did so. When we were ordering our drinks my friend was saying she wanted a specific flavor high noon and he said they did not have that, although we were looking at it with our very own eyes. Then when I tried to order a Corona Light he said they dont have that and if I want to order a beer I either want the pounds or not. Just wild!! It doesnt end there though. I tried to order 5 shots of white tea and that is definitely not what I got. It straight up smelled like straight tequila, which white tea is vodka, and didnt look like white tea at all. When I asked him about it (which I was afraid to) he made some snide comment and took one of the shots. On top of that I had ordered 5 and he gave me 3...Just a very confusing customer service experience and would never go back. Im not sure the point of acting that way or treating customer in such a way when all we truly had done is come in and say down and spoke amongst each other and wanted to have a couple of drinks before heading into the bar.If youre looking to go to a bar before the game, go to Martinos. That is where we went after and I have been to before. This was my first and last time ever going to Dive Bar. I was anxious for my bill because I was unsure of what he was going to charge me. When I got it it was only $10 so I left a $2 tip (which I really considered not even doing) and called it a day. Also, here is a picture of my 5 white tea shots.

Absolutely appalling experience at this bar. after accidentally locking my keys in the trunk of my car, i was waiting for roadside assistance in the parking lot behind the bar. someone named Elijah SPIT ON ME from the balcony steps. Shockingly, when I approached the bouncer, I was dismissed and denied entry to simply wash my hands, despite having been inside the bar earlier that night. After the bouncer fell over his metal gate and chair i decided this kind of unprofessionalism isn’t worth my time or energy. The lack of concern for basic decency and customer safety is utterly unacceptable. Utterly disgusted and deeply disappointed.

I was told I couldn’t come into the bar because I didn’t have a college I.D. Was told by 3 young white males working the door. My friends and I were turned away. I have never had this happen before. They claim you could only come in the bar if you were in college. They only do that on Fridays and Saturdays. I have never heard or experienced this in Clifton. But the following weekend that was not the case.

This place was much cooler when it hadnt been built and the Sub Galley stood in its place. No offense to current Clifton but the town was much cooler when you could catch a live band and do some shots while doing your laundry on Saturday night. Then head up the block to get annihilated on $2 pitchers with the local panhandlers. I, like Mac, Dennis, Charlie, Dee and Frank, like my bar with some edge...R.I.P. Setiments, Rock City, The Magic Mushroom, Sudsy Malones, the Avalon, I cant remember the name of the Pet Shop on the corner, the Wild Duck, and the rest I forgot...

Absolutely great! Limited menu! Great Food! Great drinks! Good Prices!

Really pretty interior, given the location, and having 3 different floors is a nice novelty. However, the music is always too loud; this isn’t a rave. And charges are often mixed up. They let far too many people in for it to be safe. The bouncers checking ID’s don’t keep any sort of tally as to how many people have entered.

Great bar on campus. Weekends full of college aged patrons as well as pre/post bogarts concert attendees. Staff is wonderful, friendly and quick paced. Every bar has a different vibe (there are 3 bars) to which all have decently priced drinks. Definitely a bar to check out when in town or to frequent when you live in the area!

Reasonable prices, good atmosphere. Will definitely return!

I was shocked with how the DIVE BAR employee handle this.. lied and then kicked him out for asking other people to use their phone to get a ride home. I lost so much respect for these people. Thankfully he DIDNT get behind the wheel and kill himself .

Loved the atmosphere, i don’t frequent bars and the bartender made it a very comfortable environment. Of all the bars on the street I’d say we made a great choice!

My friends and I love this bar!! We came the last 2 Friday nights and this place is packed!! The bar staff was super friendly and helpful when trying to figure out what fruity shots we wanted when we couldn’t decide! Try and get Ashley or abby if you can!!

I was there this weekend with some friends: A man claimed he was there working and asked for me to get a bar-back. He claimed his a name was Joey. I went to the bar and asked the bartender to help the other worker named Joey and she said there was no worker named Joey. He then came up to my friend standing alone while I went to get the bartender and he asked her an inappropriate question then came to the bar to find me crying. I told the bartender and the female bartender and a male bar back found him and did not take him seriously and brushed it off. This is not a safe place to go with friends and the worker do not take it seriously. I do not recommend going here.

I love how much they love UC. They always have a great atmosphere and will do the down the drive at closing time! Overall it’s a great bar! Ashley and Abby with Elliot’s help create a great bar environment! Strongly recommend checking it out!

Great place and nice atmosphere.Despite being setup to be a successful and relaxing bar, there is a fat bald creepy bartender that gets really racist and tries to hit on the girls that walk in. Ive experienced him do this more than once and he makes the other female barbacks that work here uncomfortable also. Ive never had a problem until I came with some of my black friends and he completely ignored them and wouldnt serve until we made an issue of it and even then he had a huge attitude about it. Too bad he works there or else Id frequent the place and bring my friends.

Only been here once, but had a really good time. Pool table and dart board upstairs. Jukebox is one of those TouchTunes machines, so easy to play what you want to hear. They appear to have a big party facility on lower level with a DJ. Good selection of beers and food.

Not my first time here but horrible staff. Although busy. The blonde girl with shoulder/arm tattoo behind the bar Wednesday purposely skipped over my friend and I multiple times. She actually kept her head down as she passed by us to serve everyone else. When she finally stopped avoiding us. She checked our IDs for a long time as if they were fake. She placed a cup of ice in front of me and my friend. Asked for my drink again (tequila and oj) then walked down and proceeded to pour straight juice in my cup. Walked back and charged me $4. As a bartender myself I’ve never been so disrespected. I’ve been over the age of 21 for awhile now to know if my drink has alcohol. I shouldn’t of even tipped her. Waisted $5 and walked out. Worse bartender ever.

Stood at the bar 20 mins and couldnt get the bartender to serve our group drinks so we left and had an amazing time at the dime. The worse service on short vine.

Visited the Dive Bar twice. The bartenders were friendly and service was good, despite the large crowd. The bar itself is small, but they have a nice outdoor patio as well. They dont have any craft beer on draft, but they have an extensive selection of cans.

I’ve been there several times and have enjoyed I️t until today. There were several patrons that stayed up stairs and bullied paying customers. Without reason they personally attacked physical attributes without reason. 10/10 would not recommend. Don’t play pool unless you want to be verbally attacked. Tried to talk to the bartender about the situation, and she lacked to do anything to ameliorate the situation. Will never go back.

Great daytime personalities in this place, whether its the fantastic bartenders or the bar regulars. Your always going to have an entertaining time at The Dive

Extremely wonderful. Amazing atmosphere. To top it off... McKayla is a very personable bartender. & She made me and my crew feel more than welcome, for first time visitors.

Sad to say I witnessed an assault on a young female employee here one week ago. It was poorly handled and the young woman was hurt. I don’t enjoy going out for an evening and witnessing this. Establishment needs to have more and better control of rowdy customers. If I could have given zero stars I would have

This place was so clean, classy & beautiful inside & out, the front & back patio & deck are breath taking. Drinks were good but huge chubby bartender had an attitude as soon as we walked in the door, we were judged unfairly, like he didnt like us bc we were disturbing him & his star trek fan club. As he was entertaining them right in front of us & the other 2 customers that braved listening to his stories. Oh also we were with 2 men of color, whom both are very successful beer critics for a local popular elite magazine. So that sucked! But it all turned around as a young cook came out back to ask for a light during his break whom is also a man of color, made the rest of our visit fun and positive. THE only reason we will return is bc the cook gave us the lowdown when he went on his break, so we forgave bartender and will be back. Please go atleast see the place its gorgeous and has great food. 😀😊😌😇

Came in Monday 10/11 around 9:45pm had a corona xtra and bad service that’s it so I’m wondering why I have a 20 dollar charge on my card for a five dollar beer at best ? Is it because I kept a the tab opened and she gave herself a tremendous tip or is that the pre authorization ? Management ?

The Dive Bar is a popular hot spot for young adults. Located across the street from Bogarts Live Music Venue, the Dive is alive and is open late. Very spacious inside with 2 levels and two balconies. While there is no diving pool, regular divers enjoy playing pool.

I will say WORST service ever. If you are not a cute boy FORGOT IT!I work as a bartender close by and after the bartender so pasted me by, for the young boys who I also know for drinks.She then proceed to serve me 3, lemon drops shots of all sour mix and ask me if I “wanted a water” then with her smirk remark checked me out and I unfortunately had to leave a $0. Tip because of her.I also work at hangover easy and this is VERY unexpectable for the staff.

Went there last night and will never go back. We ended up there at like midnight, none of us were intoxicated, one of us had just gotten off work or we wouldnt have been out that late. The bartender took my ID, proceeded to bend it back and forth at least 15 times and the lamination cracked so she peeled part of it off and refused to serve me because it was now damaged. Ive been in the industry for 5 years and Im aware of the lawsuits that can occur against a bartender/establishment but theres a proper way to check an ID that dont cause damage. It seems other reviewers have had issues with them being unable to accept valid IDs. If its that big of an issue get an ID scanner. Besides the fact that the staff is incompetant, the bar was overall fairly dingy, they didnt even have draft beer. But hey, what can you expect when the bartenders refuse service for no reason, they cant make money that way.

Unfortunately, my friends and I were welcomed with an extremely unprofessional manager and staff. I can’t say I’ve ever experienced such poor service anywhere else and am still in shock with how I was spoken to. I would not recommend this bar to any friend or colleague looking to enjoy a Saturday night.

I stopped in to kill some time on a random Monday afternoon. The patrons were friendly. Drink specials and happy hour were great.

Walked in randomly, very friendly bartender. Great music choice here. Playing nice smooth jazz. Exactly what I needed today. A beer, smooth jazz and a relaxing time.

I really like the service and staff here. Its a hole in the wall place but they do it with a style and elligance I have never seen before. The food here is AMAZING! I dont know how they do it so well.The only issue I have is that the customers on the back deck keep throwing thier beer bottles onto the parking lot in the back. That is just rude and unforgivable.

Great little hole in the wall. Grab a stool have a seat and start yacking every one there fits right in. Drinks flow as freely as the conversation. Perfect spot to relax and unwind or just hide from the rest of the world..p

Just walking on short Vine, stopped inside for a drink. Very nice bar, multi level. Pool table upstairs. Staff and guest displayed positive vibes. Nice place.

Looked like an okay bar until we started talking to the short, bald bartender. He asked for our IDs and I gave him mine. He looked at it, laughed, and tossed it but didnt say anything. When we went to order drinks he wouldnt serve me and when I asked him why he said he couldnt believe that I was from Florida (I go to school there) and was extremely rude to me for no reason. I had other forms of ID on me and he still refused to serve me. When my boyfriend asked him why he was being like that he says its my job to be a d-ck. Ill never be back. The bartender across the street is much friendlier!

Good drink prices in a small building. We went there after seeing a concert at Bogarts across the street. Its a bit tight if there are very many people in there though.

They have half off appetizer specials for happy hour which is nice, but overall Im not impressed. It isnt really a dive bar. Its a hipster bar with faux dove bar kitsche.

A great local hang out bar. They have a full bar with lots of beers. All the beers are available canned only, they dont have taps. There is food..... sometimes.

This bar is awful. I ordered a Bahama Mama and the bar tender had no idea how to make it. Instead of figuring it out she told me I either look up the recipe or get out because she doesnt have time for this NEVER coming back here again.

Spacious and good deals (like $2 PBRs). Good for college kids but dont expect a party until 11 or so.

They didnt run my credit card properly to add tip and held up double the funds. It was fixed eventually but no apology or empathy.

There are no beers on tap, but this place has great atmosphere and an awesome back deck.

This bar gets better and better as they expand and add drink specials. I suggest stopping g at Dive Bar before Bearcats basketball games for drinks with friends!

The new manager is a complete ahole. (The one with the mustache) I’ve been coming here for YEARS, and now my friends and I refuse to go because of him.
