Worst experience ever. Over priced drinks. $20 to get past the line, even with it being so packed it’s a fire code violation! Ran out of limes and shot glasses for 3 patron shots for $46? So a giant cup with no salt, and an orange when asked for lime?No toilet paper in the woman’s bathrooms. Floors littered with napkins, per my husband the man’s bathrooms are littered with cocaine. You want a drink at the bar? Not happening. You have to squeeze past people just to sign and tip on a stationary tablet? They just let people stay at the bar counter instead of making room for people to order then have the audacity to charge $19 for two beers? I will be reporting them to code enforcement with photo and video evidence, and to my bank for services NOT rendered. I also had an employee stack dirty cups into my current drink. As someone who frequents deep ellum for the last 12yrs, this was the WORST experience. Come here if you dare, but be warned you have to physically push people to order or to even use the restrooms (which will have no toilet paper or cocaine). This bar is one of the reasons deep ellum is no longer the place to be. Also be prepared to deal with second hand marijuana on the “smoking” balcony. TLDR: over priced, disgusting, not staffed well, clientele has much to be desired.
This place has the best potential. It could be so much more if it was cleaner. We sat on the balcony and it was terrible. It was slow to get anything. We waited 30 minutes for our drinks. Our table was sticky and so was the floor. My food was cold and had paper stuck to my bacon, it looked and tasted amazing but I wasnt really upset until I found the hair in my food! They compensated me the meal that I didnt finish.
Came to celebrate my birthday. Had dinner reservations/table and was there before it became a nightclub. Stayed and was enjoying ourselves until my table was bought out from under me for bottle service. Our tab was more but Cafe Salsera has client preferences on who they want in their club. Totally ruined my celebration. So I will never return for that reason only. Not once did a manager ever come speak with me. Waitresses wanted us to move so they could get tipped for automatic gratuity on bottle service. Shame on you....
This place is terrible for dancing at night. The security takes bribes waited over an hour in line and people were able to get to the front and pay the securities pictured above $20 just to get in. I was waiting in front of the door for 20 minutes and they let in 35 people in front of me. Why make a line?? Just charge cover at that point. Don’t waste your time in this line go somewhere else. The place across the street cheap stakes has the same music and is way better.
So far I havent tried any food, but the staff is always friendly. What really draws me here is typically they have Salsa lessons for like $5 per person (fyi. This whole Deep Ellum area has parking fees for most of the parking @$10 per. Car). But so far the Salsera has been good. And has a nice old feel to it. Ill update when I have some food and let you know there how it goes.Edit 3/21/19 Come pretty often, still a great place food is decent priced and has pretty good flavor, portions are good also.
This place was horrible! I reserved a table for my birthday, in the stage and had a party of 13 people. We ended up being kicked out all because we were not going to buy a $400 dollar bottle, that I could have bought at a store for 40 dollars! My friends that sat at another table downstairs were also kicked out because of the same thing! My friends left because the felt discriminated!!! Really !!! We spent close to 400 dollars on food and drinks which would have been a stupid bottle! The servers looked horrible, and gave a terrible service! Overall I am not coming back to this unwelcoming, disgusting, low class, horrible place!!! Good luck if anyone decides to choose this place!😤
Long line to get in. I took this photo in front of the club because it was so funny seeing Dallas police on horses! 😁About the club: very long line, Saturday night seems to be more reggaeton and electronic, little cumbia & merengue. Smells like smoke and beer. Stuffed, hard to dance or move around. Overwhelming.Nice artwork on the walls. Awesome floor. I will come back another day hopefully there will be less people and more salsa music so I can test out that gorgeous hardwood floor.
Great place to go and have fun; regueton and Latin music! Definitely great cocktails! Try the 7 tequilas something like that! It’s blue! You gonna have fun! And you know what I lost my cellphone with a check bill and they gave them to me back!
At first the server was beyond rude to which we were going to switch out. I guess she came into work in a bad mood. I ordered food at 10:30 so I’m not sure if that’s why she wasn’t having it. After a while she just changed her attitude. She was then very nice and was constantly checking on us, which I really liked. So future reference patrons, ALWAYS tip your server at LEAST 20%!!! It will make your experience more enjoyable. I really think that’s what it was. She profiled her table and thought we were going to be cheap. We did get bottle service as well. The music was on point and the vibe was amazing. We really enjoyed ourselves.
Great place to come hang out Friday or Saturday. This place used to be the best place to come dance. But now it feels like the crowed just wants to stand around and vibe....
PACKED LIKE A CAN OF SARDINES! Visited from out of town and some friends wanted to go out on the night. Ended up in line for this place. It took a good hour to reach the front of the line. Once you get in it is so packed that there is no room to enjoy it. Can’t dance, can’t walk, can hardly wiggle. I was a bit disappointed, but the music was great!
Went there yesterday asked for 2 tequila and pineapple juice, the bartender poured me 2 expensive tequilas that I didnt ask for, when I told her I wanted well tequila she angrily threw the drinks in the sink. she gave me straight pineapple juice. No liquor. When I told wait staff about it they only compensated half a shot. I paid $27 for pineapple juice
This is the go to spot. Gets very crowded but they always have great music. That being said.. we only go if we are getting a bottle service because it is impossible to get drinks at the bar sometimes. If we don’t get bottle service we start our night of bar hoping here.
Do not get bottle service here!!!! Went on Sunday 1/1 with 6 other people. As most know, the bouncers will let you skip the line for $20 each. Well on Sunday, the only way you could skip the line was by buying a bottle. We got the bottle and waited 1 hour for it!!! They close at 2am and we got it at 12:40am! We asked at least twice while waiting and they kept saying it was on its way. Needless to say it killed our mood and we were there to celebrate a birthday. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.
The after hours has completely gone down hill since they introduced sections before they had that it was the place to be but now sadly it is not what it once was..
I have visited Salsera on multiple occasions. We usually do dinner n then bottle service. Tonight we had reservation for Bottle Service only and we had the worst service ever. To start with they took forever to let us in. Which with bottle service you are supposed to be able to go to the front of the line. Our server even came out to have them let us in and the security was just rude. Then they switched my table from the dance floor to the balcony without me asking for that. I specifically requested a table on the dance floor. We had the girls bring out the wrong bottle one of the times which is fine, people make mistakes but the owner kept passing by and bumping into the guys in our party and then made a big scene and wanted to get us kicked out because the guys turned around to look at who was bumping them. Nothing was said to him but he still made a scene which was so uncalled for. All the guys in our party are Veterans and dont appreciate people bumping into them on purpose but still were calm and didnt tell him anything. Dont get me wrong the bottle service girls are always great but we will never be returning, the owner needs to learn how to treat customers. We always visit and is usually many of us buying multiple bottles on each visit. We will be taking our business elsewhere
Amazing place! We were there a little early so there were not many people at that time. Great deals for happy hour! Loved their chicken wings and adult coffee. Their coconut drink is super sweet (just like I love it!). The staff is extremely attentive and very courteous. Will definitely come back to try their Thursday salsa nights.
I went on a Sunday night. The music was ok and a mix of reggaeton, cumbia, hip hop, but the DJ was doing absolutely way too much. He needs to let the music play. He was playing popular songs and cutting them wayyy too early. Ruined the hype of the songs
Cafe Salsera has had a good atmosphere for the times I have gone. They were polite, clean, and spacious. Unfortunately, i have never been fortunate enough to be there when they have food service. During their club hours they have played great music, and provided fair drink prices. I will definitely go back when I want to enjoy Latin music.
Absolutely wonderful atmosphere, super friendly bartender. Good drinks (Adios was a bit watered down). 100% the worst Queso Fundido I’ve had in my life. Not stretchy like mozzarella, felt like tortilla and re-heated cheese whiz.
It’s a good place to have fun. Only way to get in without paying is if you get there before 11pm. Drinks are basic, overpriced. They slap a 20% service fee on every tab for no reason. A Deep Ellum staple but definitely could be better. Update: Owner reply says they do not have a cover charge but everyone pays the bouncers $20+ per person to get in and cut the line.
Love the music here! The short little waitress was rude and kept harassing us about sitting at a table and just drinking, she tried to force us to order food. We will definitely be back, the music is great all night.
Would NOT recommend for large parties!I celebrated my birthday there this past weekend and sadly it was not worth it. We reserved a table on the stage and I was given one price. 4 days before my party I was told that the price I was given was only for 10 guests and every person after that was an additional $32. The service was slow. I was the first reservation there but the last to get my bottle and at one point we ended up waiting over 30 mins for mixers. The “appetizers” I was told about that were included in my total was a paper plate of tortilla chips and salsa. The door guys were rude to several of my guest when they arrived, the entire restaurant has no cell signal and made it impossible for my guest to communicate with me. Diana the manager was very polite however, made the entire process of my reservation frustrating. They want a guest list and alcohol preferences weeks in advance and when I asked if I could decide when I got there, I was told no because their alcohol was limited. In the end, I would’ve had a better time at the local bar right up the street from my house.
I would leave zero stars if I could. Taking the time to make a reservation ahead of time online is worth less. Time of arrival they will rip you off into buying bottles and section/table. Plus they charge a $95 fee after 10pm that I was never aware of ahead of time. In the past 3 months of making reservations never was there a requirement of buying a bottle or never was it stated online. Definitely poor management. And not worth the time/money. Save it for elsewhere with better food, music, environment, cleanliness, and management. Trust me.
I never been here through daylight, my friends and I usually come to dance. It’s a good experience, their drinks are also good. Wish the dance floor was bigger to have more space to dance. Very good music and their wings are good as well.
They take bribe to allow customers inside. Security are too worst teasing girls. We almost waited for 2 hours in the line to get inside but security takes bribes to allow girls inside.Dance floor is not so great. Tooo worst experience. Not at all wroth it. Worst thing to visit in Dallas. 🤧
If you’re looking for a fun spot come check them out. Good music & good drinks. I didn’t try the food but the menu appeared to look good. Only complaint was the chunky Mexican bartender tried to get over on me by charger me for extra drinks when I ordered two. He knew what he was doing. Wasn’t a fan of that.
Had a good time they had some good drink specials going on Sunday night. Maybe because deep Ellum was really slow. Not sure. Just upset because the waitress charged my group of 4 a 20% service fee. Said on the menu parties of 6 or more but she totally hustled us. I didn’t see the service charge of 8 bucks, until I had tipped $12. I wouldn’t have minded getting conned out of tipping $20 bucks, if the waitress was more fun, she was a attentive waitress just not a lot of personality. My friends also got charged on their tabs as well. I will give it another try just not go through a waitress.
We were so disappointed. When we came here a month ago the food was delicious. Tonight the menu totally changed and maybe the chef too! The options were slim and the taste quality has changed significantly. When we last visited the portions, quality and flavor was amazing. Its become more bland and even the drinks arent as good. HOWEVER I am adding an extra star because our waitress was very accomodating and service was good... otherwise it deserves only 1 sad star. Sorry, not sorry.
Have not tasted the food here. My Review is based solely on Friday & Sat night life perspective. If arriving after 11pm prepare to wait 30-40 min in line to get in. The music is pretty good, however it does get pretty over crowded not a lot of dancing space. Drinks are way too overly priced. I literally got charged almost 30 dollars for ONE adios cocktail. I have heard of some places charging a little bit more when they have live bands playing at the venue but that is definitely not the case here. Needless to say its not my first choice when going to Deep Ellum and unless I am with a fun group of friends I wouldnt make a pit stop here.
Good food and staff. The place is usually somewhat empty when we walk by, but it seems to pick up a good bit with more of a club atmosphere some nights.Unfortunately, it took us over an hour to get it food. Everytime we would order, 15 minutes later we would be told there was no more chicken, pork, etc. Then there suddenly was and we got a dish we ordered way earlier...Bloody Marys were awesome, but not sure if Ill be back.
I was only there for maybe 2 hours so I cant really rate it too well. But it was nice, we had the top balcony reserved for my best friends birthday so we werent down with the crowd. When we were leaving the line was crazy long to get in.
We went for a girls night out and had a blast. The drinks were on point and the bartenders were super nice. It started getting packed around 9:30. Great music and atmosphere!!!
We were a bit weary when we walked in and were the only ones dining in. The bar was full though. It was a Saturday night so we almost decided not to risk it. So glad we did! Food was freaking delicious. Our server was nice and checked up on us throughout our time there. It was dark which in my opinion helps give the place a chill atmosphere. No complaints here!
The experience was horrible I was insulted by your pricing. So everyone knows you’ll be charged 20% no matter what after 10:00pm. I wouldn’t have minded the charge had the service been excellent. I would not recommend this location. In response to who was the one that attended us it was a short bartender. Four ultra beers and Four hot shots of patron shouldn’t have cost me 84. I wasn’t told about the charge as a matter of fact. I had to ask a waitress about your fee. This actually shows that not everyone knows why you charge the 20%, because she explained it as a charge to make up for those guest that do not tip. So apparently not everyone on your staff is aware of your true policies. You can always make it right and return my funds because that would be the right thing todo! As I stated before I will not recommend or visit your establishment again.
0 stars if I could! Worst experience ever! First and last time coming here. Security by the restrooms was rude and aggressive. He was cussing at my boyfriend and his friends to move out the way once my bf said to not cuss at him respectfully the security grabbed him by his shirt and pushed him towards the crowd screaming and cussing in his face! I didn’t get the securities name but he was chubby, pale, had a beard and had glasses around 5’5 tall. There was no reason for the security to be aggressive.
Good chill place, the upstairs balcony is better if you dont like crowds. The drinks were super watered down, too expensive and somehow the same drink became more expensive over the course of the same night👎. Only giving the stars for the vibe. Make better bar decisions.
It’s really a good place to have a good time. But management/security is always thirsty for money. If it’s busy forget about getting in without paining money. They will make you stand in line for hours while sending in people who pay a lot to get in. To owners: get some life. I understand you need to make money, but let people who stand in line for hours to get in as well not only the people who pay money to your security. Filthy peopleEdit: appreciate the owners response, last night on Saturday:2/19 me and my buddies waited for 1.45 hours in line for no avail while we see lot of people getting in by side, when asked to security it was mentioned 50 per piece to get in and he can’t help and we r almost at entrance while this is happening. Feel bad for others in line beyond us and out of frustration we left after such a long wait
Place is really fun. Went for a birthday and for the time we were there it was awesome. Only downside is drinks are a little steep but at same time they dont get greedy with the pour.
I don’t know about the last couple of reviews but I had a really good time enjoyed the music and the bottles! There was a fight but security quickly broke it up.
Located in deep ellum. Great food and a popular Latin night club. Had a lot of fun when I went. Upstairs bar is nice and you get a good little view when you sit in the upstairs patio. Great spot for spanish dancing with good price drinks. Overall staff was amazing.
We only went to the nightclub version at night but the drinks were great and the music did the job. There could have been more salsa and bachata but the other main types were covered. Go check it out for yourself, cover was free for us around 11pm so you may get in for free, too!
We had reservations for a friend’s birthday, we had dinner and then stayed for dancing and drinks. I got the sour cream enchiladas and my husband got the salsa verde. I did try my husbands and it tasted great and I wish I had ordered that instead. The sour cream sauce was bland, the chicken tasted unseasoned and the refried beans needed salt. We were there for happy hour which did have decent prices for what we wanted and our server was awesome! Lexi did a great job of taking care of us for dinner. Our group kept getting fluctuating prices for table service $200/$250 for one bottle or $450/$500 for two bottles. If I could rate for service alone I would give 5 stars but I must give only two for the bland food and the inconsistency for the bottle prices.
Very disappointed with the way we were treated by the owner, Wilson. Last night my group and I purchased bottle service. I made my reservation through Instagram DM, the person handling the reservation sent me the menu and did NOT mention there was a minimum (which most places have one an mention it up front). Upon our arrival, the bouncer could not find our reservation, but this issue was resolved quickly by the manager lady- Diana, I think. She escorted us to our table and asked us which bottle we were going to choose. At 11pm we placed our order for a bottle of Titos, paid, signed the check, and began our birthday celebration. The issue began when our kind waitress, Karen, came up to me at 1:30am informing me that I HAD to buy a second bottle because this was required... I communicated with her that I was not made aware this was a requirement while making the reservation or when we arrived and by 1:30am my guest are too intoxicated to consume an entire bottle in just 30 minutes, especially because they were also consuming from the bar!! She asked me to speak to the manager because she was only doing her job, I told the manager the same thing and her response was you have to buy the bottle, but dont have to drink it!? Now why would I spend $200+ more when you are giving this kind of service!? At that point I became frustrated and asked to speak to the owner.Wilson-the owner- was made aware of the miscommunication. His response if you are not going to buy another bottle you need to leave!! I am here to make business not a charity who says that to a repeating paying customer!? The saddest part of this was when I told him my guest where still consuming from the bar he asked his bouncers to escort my guest out the back door.I understand that misunderstandings happen, and I am not upset about that. But the owners judgment is very poor. Mr. Wilson, if you are reading this, know that you are in business because WE your customers keep you in business. DO BETTER!!!
Server was nice but made a couple mistakes. Got enchiladas but they were cold when I received them and the rice was super salty. Another guest in our party got cold tomato soup as well. Portions are small for the price. Dining experience wasn’t pleasant and it wasn’t even packed on a Saturday.
One of the best latino night clubs in Deep Ellum! Good music and good atmosphere to rock your night.
Its a really nice restaurant, but the service is really bad. There was two tables there for lunch; my wife and I and another couple. We still waited about 40 minutes for our food which was just pork tacos and a salad. Oh, and the salsa was so watery we thought it was v8 with cilantro. Anyways, the quality of the food we ordered was great, just took way too long for a damn salad and tacos. Most likely wont be returning to this place unless they find away to speed things up.
This food was horrible and bland. Its not really Tex-Mex or Mexican , it is a weird hybrid of the ideas. The tea gained them points although I was given an empty honey bottle. It was a Saturday night around 8 and they were setting up for the night life and DJ so maybe that impacted the food service. Musics nice. Teas nice. Mimosas are nice on Sunday. They can keep the food.
Went after dinner, great llace to party and have drinks. Can get packed but pretty fun.
I will start by saying the music and drinks are GREAT. But I do not recommend the FOOD what so ever we had to send 4 plates back due to hard buns on burger, watery potato soup. Watery pasta, and not fully cooked salmon. Needles to say we were not happy.
Terrible. Do not recommend at all. Drink was not impressive. Missing menu items. Terrible food service. Sat and sat and finally got so frustrated that I just walked out. Not even an apology. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Honestly, I felt like because they did not recognize us we were completely dismissed. What a disappointment. Left and went to Fuzzy taco. I will never return. Do not waste your time.
My husband and I were in Deep Ellum for a concert. We figured anywhere we stopped to eat would be great. I love the vibe in Deep Ellum and it has never disappointed before....until now. The food is not good at Cafe Salsera. Do not waste your money. It honestly soured our whole evening. Typically, I don’t like to leave bad reviews but this place needs to be avoided.
Not sure where to start, honestly I never write reviews bad or good but this was too bad not to.I walked in and there were only 7 people Inside, whom had already been served. I stood waiting for one of the waitresses to greet me, they never did ,so I said hello and asked if I should seat myself. Then I sat for another 30 minutes and finally I walked up to the waitresses and ask for a menu. I waited another 20 min for my order to be taken. The food came out and it was prefrozen taquitos. The lettuce and guacamole were both brown and the beans and rice were cold, flavorless and stale so I asked for extra salsa. The salsa tasted like water with small tomato pieces in it .The music was fine but the DJ didnt set up til 10:30 PM . To make matters worse my waitress came over to ask if I wanted a drink I said no thanks and she responded well do you just want your check then I was so done. I came to cafe salsera to eat, and dance a little salsa .so sorry I did. This place had decent reviews, which is why I came but they obviously didnt come on a Sunday.
I went in the evening on a Friday. They wont let you get in without using their lame text app. Then when they text you back you get in line to go in. It was ridiculously unorganized and people that checked in way after us were getting in line and getting in without even using their system. Music is good but its really not worth a wait in my opinion.
Cafe Salsera is a gem! I had the tinga empanadas and cayote soup and let me tell you I am one picky person! The empanadas were flakey, warm and the tinga was juicey and had a great flavor! I also had the cayote soup and folks its creamy, has chunks of peppers but not spicy at all! My favorite part was the CocoLoco drink it tastes like a creamy Mexican coconut paleta...seriously will creep up on you haha by my second drink I was feeling happy! The music was awesome to dance too with a lot of Spanish variety like reggaetón, bachata, salsa etc and it was nice to find a place that provides that! Also its best to make reservations online which is super easy and they were very responsive to my questions and accommodated my table for a time change. I highly recommend this place!!
Food, drinks, atmosphere, and service was all outstanding. I suggest this club to anyone looking for a little salsa, or just a good time. They also had open Mick comedy on Sunday night
Great food, drinks, atmosphere and music! Even better bonus is their staff who took amazing care of our group the whole night! Love this place!
Came here on new years eve with my husband decided to grab a bite. we ordered two house margaritas and enchiladas. The margaritas were terrible, sent them back and had beer in a can instead. The enchiladas were cold when they came to our table, our waitress said they were out of beans so they gave us extra rice didnt even let us know ahead of time, the rice was hard and salty. The enchiladas werent what I expected the tomatillos sauce was cold and sour. Everything is way over priced and still got charged full price after we complined about the drinks and our food. Payed too much for rice and mini enchiladas, this place should just remain a night club all thats good there is the music.
Restaurant was dead, i know why. Hair was in my friends pancakes and the table next to us had hair in their food too. The server had her long hair down and you would think after two hair complaints she would put it up. 3 people was in our party and the server put auto gratuity on our checks. I tip 20% so it wasnt a big deal but I would like the opportunity to give the server the tip she deserved. The food was decent but pricey for what was served. $12 for a omelet seems ridiculous, it literally came with a omelet... no potatoes or toast.Needless to say I will not return to this restaurant and taking time out of my day to write a review to prevent others from wasting their Sunday shows how bad of a expieriance I actually had.
Friday night on 1/28/22 I had a bad experience with the Hispanic bartender working on the back end closer to the bathrooms. I asked him if I can get a cup of water but he said I had to purchase a drink first, I told him all I wanted was a cup of water.. he then said he would give me water if I purchased a bottle. This is the second time I have this happen to me with the same bartender. Ultimately, I wanted the water to give to a girl in the bathroom who was throwing up.
Terrible service. Mediocre over priced drinks which took longer than the food to get to our table, when the first drink finally came 30 mins after ordering we were told that the other drink just ran out and took another 10 mins to get a replacement. Food was 50/50 w the mofongo dry w pockets of unblended seasoning, the vegetarian albondigas were a good take on the classic but the kitchen was incredibly slow for being not crowded at all. The manager was entirely apathetic tell us that he has been to places where the service is this bad too and it is slow because they were crowded earlier. This is a great interior after the renovations, I cant wait to see what the next restaurant does with it.
Just to be fair, I never went inside. I went last night (Saturday night) and it was raining non stop. They advised us that we had to go in the front to put our names on a waiting list (again, its raining and of course I have on heels). Then they would text us, not 1X but 2X before we can go STAND IN LINE to get in. They texted 30 mins later. I was gone. I think this place will lose business because of this. Its a bit ridiculous to me and inconsiderate.
Fun place! It does get crowded, JJ is the best security ever. I dont think Salsera would be the same without him. My girls and I always have a blast coming here.
I saw a couple of fights here the other day and it was better than Canelos last bout. Drinks and good music. Girls be turning tf up at night fr fr.
This is the worst place on this earth. Do not ever go to this place, and I’m serious, this motherfuc!!!!!!! Told us that we have to leave the table because someone was paying more money for our table, even though we already paid about $300.00 in shots and beer. Do not go to this place
I went for the night club part. Overall it was good but the only down side they played the same songs over and over.
Drinks were horrible, even basic drinks. Service from people on the floor was completely unacceptable, they were extremely rude!Im not usually a person write reviews but this establishment was, as a whole, a place that needs to be avoided.
It’s so expensive!! $8 a beer and last time I was charged $12 for every beer, I complained about it and it was a “mistake”, is the only Latin music bar on elm st, Dallas, music is great and the staff is good, I can’t complain about that
Havent tried the food but I like coming here to dance since its the only Latin dance club in elm st. They play a variety like cumbia, merengue, bachata. I just wish they played more salsa
Service was a little on the slow side but the amazing food made up for it! The jerk wings were delicious along with the Spanish meatballs in Diablo sauce. The Yucca was cooked perfectly and the dipping sauces were homemade and very good!
Amazing place. Even though it was very packed, place was so much fun. From the balcony to the bar or dance floor. Alot of good music, good drinks and cool friendly staff.
So long as you know what to order, youll have a good experience. This place does some things bad, and other things adequately, but I wouldnt say anything was particularly remarkable in any way.The chips and salsa/queso/guacamole are expensive garbage. You wont enjoy them whatsoever. Avoid. The churros are... Weird. In a bad, confusing way that makes you contemplate your life choices. The banana smoothie is ok.The fries are ok if you prefer them flexible and not crisp. The grilled cheese is good and comes with cheese, bacon, and tomatoes. The tacos are average but wont disappoint. Id go with tacos if you arent sure what you want.
Disgusting food. They have no refried beans and had gross mac n cheese. They microwave their enchiladas. Gross. Price does not match the lack of quality. Overpriced. Eat at Pepes and mitos on elm for good quality Latin food.
I had one of the most disappointing nights in a while here... I was invited to attend your salsa night only to discover that all they play is cumbia... For 90 minutes... Either get a new dj or get Pandora... All I wanted to do was dance some salsa and bachata
Came here on a date which started out great but ended with great disappointment. I live in Fort Worth and read about this place online. The drinks were great, and the music was ok because the dj kept mixing from one extreme of genre to another but we like to dance so we just adapted to whatever he put on. Over all, the eclectic, artful ambiance was great. The moment it went south was when I went to close out my tab and found out the bar tender Emerson, had lost my debit card. Another guy searched for my card for a while and could not find it. In this day in age where theft of credit and identity information occurs on a regular basis, you could just imagine how I felt. Finally, the gentleman looking for my card explained that he couldnt find it and would have to follow up with my, so he took my info. My date with my GF ended with me on the phone with Wells Fargo most of the way and asking my GF to pay for food. To make it worse, I had to borrow money from her to buy my daughters school supplies and uniforms on Sunday. On Sunday since I didnt receive a call or email, I decided to call Café Salsera my self. I spoke with the manager who located my card, but by this time, the damage had been done. I had already called to cancel my card and had another one issued. This might of seemed like a small blunder to those responsible, but it had a number of significant effects. If I were to go there again, I will most probably pay with cash.
The worst dining experience we have had in deep ellum. There was one other table when we arrived so it would be assumed service should be fairly quick but it was not. All the food came out missing sauces/ingredients or had extra unwanted ingredients not listed on the menu. Took about 25 minutes for a burger, quesadilla, burrito and salad to come out. The burrito was flavorless and really uninspired. The most irritating thing was that some kind of custodial employee was vaccuuming and running a floor buffer around out table while we were eating which is highly inappropriate. Left feeling very disappointed and unsatisfied.
Overrated and cheap. Drinks are served in plastic cups😬UPDATE: went back a second time last weekend and let me mention that the pandemic was not even a concern to the bouncers. They let way too many people in.. so crowded, there was no way to walk through the crowd. They also let anyone in who would pay the bouncers $20 a person.
Food is good. Atmosphere is good when its a restaurant. Only complaint is the prices of alcohol were inconsistent in the upstairs bar while it was a nightclub.
Como se dice ITS LIT en espanol lol. Had an awesome night great vibes, good music, nice people. Food was pretty good too. The drinks is where its at, our waitress did her job and found us all over the club to bring our drinks and food. My boy actually left his debit card and they held onto it for him for a couple days
HORRIBLE! 😡 The bartender, Emerson, gave me someone elses debit card, I told him it was not my card & 2 days later I checked my account and I was charged 2 different amounts. I called the manager & she was supposed to get back with me & never did. I kept calling & leaving messages. She finally called me after 5 days & said there was nothing she could do and I had to report it FRAUD with my bank. Of course its the holidays so the banks are not open when I get off work. Very disappointed because they are playing with my 💰 money.
The drinks and coffee are solid but the food is lacking terribly from composition to execution. Flavorless, super tough, cold and dry is how I can sum up the three entrées we took a swing at with the count adding up to the proverbial strike out! But wait, I thought it was a 3 strike count. The Pork skewers = dry, tough, flavorless, and roomtemp. Steak tacos = same. The Mole Chicken = dry and tough. (The plantains were amazing though)Perhaps this establishment is overreaching in that its focus and niche may be limited to that of a standard live venue nightclub with the restaurant side being no more than a means of creating some bad publicity.Service seemed fine and the happy hour is solid.
Really enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and energy. Great new addition to Dallas and Deep Ellum. Portion sizes are generous, and a good mix of Latin flavors. The Spanish Meatballs and Sol Cubano Plate are our new favorites.
The dance floor was cramped to the point that dancing was little more than moshing and the music crossed the line from loud and pumping into painful whitenoise. Could be fun in other circumstances but not like that.
THIS IS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED.It took them 30 minutes to bring us nachos. It took them 1 1/2 to bring us food. The orders were wrong. The place was half empty. We asked for compensation and they blamed it on us.Manager did nothing to help.Never coming back again.
Steak was a bit over cooked but still delicious. Veggies were cooked to perfection.AC leaked, dont sit in the middle.Management wad amazing, server is still learning; be patient.
Firt the server showed up chewing gum and asking if we know what we were going to order (I had no idea she was the server), I have not try the food yet (were still waiting for it) but the service is HORRIBLE, she doesnt know nothing about the food she is selling and have no interest in having good attitude, she made as feel like we are asking for something that doesnt exist, we ask what type of cheese the empanadas has and just answer I DONT KNOW, we ask what type of meat the torta has she said IS MEET like there is one type of meat. We also scanned the menu and it doesnt show everything so we told her and she was like,. well you can scan another table like that was going to fix it instead of telling us what she has. THE PLACE IS DIRTY, DONT WAIST YOUR MONEY AND TIME HERE.
Without a doubt had the time of my life! The DJ was amazing and played a wide variety of music. Next time I come visit Dallas, I will be sure to visit here!!!
I love the DJ and the crowd. Very mixed crowd and the DJ plays good variety of music. Good place to practice salsa and Latin dances if you are not professional
Food was ok and service was sub par. The venue was not able to honor the advertised unlimited mimosas as they ran out of champagne after we had 1 mimosa each.
No salsa. Very crowded, no room to dance. But if you like reggaeton and Mexican music you will like it.
Place was fun only downside was I had to pay $40 to the bouncer cause I was 20 and not 21… even though we had a section
The owner of the establishment is a total wimp , he pushed one of my friends and had HIM kicked out and had security on our whole table in seconds. Total wimp who hides behind his security
Good cocktails! The kitchen closed pretty early. Had to keep getting my waitresses attention to get refills on water and another drink.
Got my temperature checked before going in, stayed until the 2am closing time. Its a good place to go dance with friends.
The service was terrible and the management needs a serious overhaul. The manager (Diana) was extremely rude, disrespectful to customers, and behaved with the maturity level of a toddler to top it all off. Horrible experience.
Made us pay before we even got our food seconds later when we got our food we got kicked out for no reason security was being rude and pushed me down the stairs , he grabbed me by the wrist and slapped the drink out of me , me and the girls are not going there again I don’t recommend if you want to have a good time
Worst experience ever. 9 people for dinner. Two hours before first food came out to the first 3 people at the table. Another 35 minutes before the last person received there food. And the food was average. I hope this place goes out of business!
If youre into latin music. This is the spot in Deep Ellum. They also got half off tequila on Thursdays right now. So take advantage of it if you can!!
Went on a date with my husband here, and we had so much fun. The food was good and so was the atmosphere.
Saturday May 4, 2019 I met a Hispanic named A.J in a pink button up, super nice and super super cute. when I saved my number in your phone I saved it under Amor de tu vida If you see this I gave you the wrong number on accident. hopefully we meet again! 😘p.s this is a great spot definitely going back!
This is the place to be on Saturday nights. Music and drinks are flowing. Get there early because it gets really packed. Always have a good time when I go.
Drinks are horrible and staff is the most hostile people I’ve ever seen in the service industry. I’d strongly suggest looking at your management (Diana) and who you have behind the bar.
Friday nights and Saturday nights are pretty lit! Hip hop and reggaeton are the main music. Good times.
The food is not the best. The waiting time for the food was long and the restaurant was not full. For the night club the drinks are expensive, for example a Long Island is $15. Micheladas are excellent!
I got shot by the server after my meal because she got the order wrong. Waited 2 hours for service
Great place ! Good music and environment ! Been there twice and both times where great ! Bartenders made GREAT drinks aswell ! I will defently be back!
I like the different vibe and variety of music they play here !!
First time there, had a great experience good atmosphere, food delicious and spirits and shots good. Enjoyed the DJ
Enchilada sauce tasted like someone scraped the burnt part off the bottom of the pan. The meat is dried shredded disappointment. I wouldnt return and I wouldnt reccomend.
I went for the salsa lessons and drinks. Both were good. For singles looking to meet people taking salsa lessons your gunna be disappointed haha.
Great place to dance and enjoy the night with friends. The drinks were too expensive compared to other places around.
Very nice music, that is why I put 2 stars there is nothing else you can talk about, low food quality, very expensive, our waiter did charged my credit card without to letting my know how much was it and as always i do i gave her 20% tip and I noticed next day she already add 20% tips, almost 40% tip for just 4 person, am sorry never ever going backI don’t go to dishonest places
Horrible. Bouncer is corrupt. The wait in line is wayyy too long. You wont get in unless you give the bouncer 20 dollars per person.
Great music, but a bit crowded and there is a long wait to get in. Best thing to do is buy a bottle and get VIP.
Best best to dance at night was super awesome. Loved getting the table, was worth it.
Love the music they play. Owner is nice and there always security when its night clubs.
This place was terrible. our initial drink order took about half an hour. at the time our drinks came, we placed our food order, then that took about an hour. on our second drinks, some of us just gave up because they took about 30 min to come to the table.
Was a bit disappointed with the food. My chichrrones were not crispy and the empanada was not so great. Drinks were good though
DOES NOT PLAY SALSA MUSIC!!Name is misleading, they should call it Cafe Cumbiera cause ALL THEY PLAY IS CUMBIA with an occasion reggaeton.
Had lots of fun great place to have drinks dance and meet good people.
Fun bar with great Latin music. However, it gets really crowded around 11:30/midnight.
One of my favorite places in deep ellum for Latin music. Kitchen is open till they close and the staff is one of the best!
I was ready to buy bottles, I spend 3k at another location and they denied a guest of mine. I will not ever come to this establishment. The security have a dock measuring contest that cost the business.
Usually gets crazy packed, but I think theyve been obligated to fix that. One of the only Latin music places in the deep ellum area.
Good place to hangout on the weekends.Great food, would recommend the torta and cheesecake. Staff is very nice
Place was great, food was good really enjoyed the vibe and music played there
Music and vibe are there for sure but man the prices on drinks are ridiculous!
Went during the night when they turn this place into a club. So much fun!!
Extremely slow/bad service. Stale ballpark nachos at best. Early dinner, party of eight, nobody else in the restaurant, and still bad service.
Fabulous place to relax or grab a to go order. The sandwiches are tasty. Nice setting in Deep Ellum
Outstanding service with excellent drink options even for those of us who dont drink and great fresh food including my dish Poblano Pasta.
Good music and good drinks. I like this place to dance but is to small.
Love the place the atmosphere is great. and the energy fro the staff is very tempting. love the service. overall love the place
If you like Salsa/latin music, good food and an electric enviroment...this is the place you need.......in the heart of deep ellum, there is no way to make a mistake choosing this place
Awesome music to dance. It does get quite crowded though and theres not a lot of space to dance.
I didnt know half the songs they were playing but it didnt matter it was a blast!.....well from what I can remember 😁
Its a nice party place if you dont mind $9 beers.
My brunch experience was not positive, very poor service and they ran out of unlimited mimosas after 1 each.
Great salsa dance class on Thursdays.. Good drinks, good service, good experience
What more can you ask for? Great dancing and good drinks! On a Thursday!
Odd restaurant. Almost eery feeling. Completely dead yet the staff can’t be bothered. I would not recommend.
Great staff, Amazing food, and the perfect place to go dancing.
Choose this spot for a date night. Very disappointed especially for my first visit. Cancelled my food order after waiting for 1 hour.
Loveeee this place , Friday nights are fun for some dancing, especially with dj etxtx 💃🏼🙃
Liked it. I go basically for the music. Fun times always. located in the DE area.
Went there for a night out and it was such a weird vibe.
Good music but they leave tables in the middle of the dance floor and refuse to move them, which makes it unpleasant to dance
Decent food, and really nice place to have a drink and dance.
If you wanna drink and dance, this is one of those places....can get crowded, like trying to dance in a 2x2 square crowded
Nice Latin music just too packed sometimes. JJ the bouncer its really cool.
Great music and environment!Small dance floor though
Great time, didnt eat but looks great, Ill try it soon.
Service was exceptional! The atmosphere for dinner was great for catching up.
Its a dance club in the evening with a good dj!! Concentrating on Latin and hip hop music.
Great place to go dancing and drink. Enough said (:
Horrible service. Drinks were watered down by time they arrived to table. Slow service. We were the only table present and worst service ever
Great bar to dance alittle latín music and have a good time
If you ever want to party, this is the place.
Nice little place not much bar space..my mojito could have been better lol..
I really like this place, food is good and the music is great.
The owner kicked us out after pushing us to get out of his way!! very bad service!!
Danced away the night. Awesome time here
Service was good. A bit pricey. Coco loco is delicious!
Great food, great location and the drinks on Sundays are free with entree.
Excellent coffee, smoothie, and dessert. Literally the best chai latte Ive ever had.
They dont deal with drunk people spilling drinks everywhere. Wont be going again.
The stars are just for the drinks, they are basically shots. Even coke one day I was driving was ridiculous!
Latino crowd latino music 😁.No cover, drinks pricy though
Really bad food and expensive. Drinks were not good either.
Slow service and large cock roach crawling around us, pretty dead on Friday.Better Mexican places in dallas
Good place to have. A drink good music to dance
Best place do dance but that D.J Carlos HELL YEAH!!!!
It just to be a lot better the now. I used to go once in a while but it’s getting worser.
Nice place, great music and food!
Whose idea was it to put tables in the middle of the dance floor. It ruins the place.
Extremely crowded and by the time my group all got drinks it was shut down and there were policemen, firemen, and detectives there
They always play the classics. Cumbians sonaderas and more haha
They play Latin music on Fridays and Saturdays. Unfortunately, too much cumbia.
This is one of those places you go to as a last resort. Ugly atmosphere.
I LOVE THIS PLACE.ITS A FUN ENVIRONMENT.I KNOW I GET DRUNK.BUT I WANT TO GO BACK.🤗🍺🍸🍹
The club was incredible, great atmosphere and great music!
Love the food & the drink menuSpecial the Mango margarita
Awesome, DJ VINO def mixed it up good...
Nice place, very fun and drink are good.
Great music Spanish music, the place is always poppin.

Hey dude is a really bad service but you need take you own experience jeje...
Nice vibe great drinks. Try Margaritas
It has good latin music but that is about it!
