Deerhead Pizza

Ate lunch on a Friday. Server was really good and kept our drinks full. I had the Greek salad that was fantastic as always. I also had the pork soulvakia. The flavor was great but the meat was a little dry and tough. The chicken version is better to me. I still recommend this place!!Visited again and did take out on the Hawaiian pizza. It is fantastic!Visited again for lunch and had the Greek salad with grilled chicken. Very good!Had the French dip today for lunch. It was great!

Met a friend for lunch today here. He was a regular and highly recommended this place. I was not disappointed. The staff was super and the food was good. I tried the house stromboli with some fries. It was good. The fries were standard issue. I would be supportive of a spicier version too. They have a double thin crust pizza on the menu which I will be trying soon. Prices were reasonable, especially for the portions. No complaints I look forward to a return soon. Apparently there is live music there on occasion as well so I will provide an update when I can.

Deerhead is a great place for an adult night or family night. The semi outdoor patio seating is great on a fall night. The Greek salad with pizza bread is our favorite. And the double decker is so filling. Everyone at Deerhead is kind and fun. We always have great service.

They serve the best garlic cheesy bread! Their tenderloins are fantastic! We really enjoy eating here!

Wanted to support somewhere local, and wanted some pizza for the weekend. I am a food delivery driver and have picked up pizza for customers from here and really wanted to try it out after smelling it in the car taking it to customers.We got the three ingredients pizza with pepperoni, pineapple, and spinach. It was absolutely delicious. The sauce and things are a little sweet, and the pizza is very thin and crispy.They do the checkerboard pizza cut style for easy sharing, and the bread sticks were very good. Golden brown and the cheese dip was great as well. I would definitely recommend deerhead pizza as one of, if not the best local pizza shops in town at the moment.Looking forward to trying more menu options in the future!

The food is great 👍 we ordered a double decker meaty blues, a veggie stromboli, Greek salad, and a thin crust deluxe. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommend.

Good pizza; on par if not slightly better than Turoni’s. I was intrigued due to the “Live Jazz” mural on the side of the building, but apparently that’s a misnomer as they weren’t playing any jazz music and the live performances are from a bygone era; they did have a nice playlist though! At any rate, the vibe was interesting…Turoni’s is definitely more warm and charming…Turoni’s is more like a restaurant that has a bar and Deerhead is more like a bar that has a restaurant, if that makes sense. Apparently Deerhead used to be quite the place, with an expansive menu as well as live performances multiple days throughout the week.Also, they do that silly “cash discount” thing, which I am not a fan of, but whatever lol.At any rate, I would eat their pizza again for sure!

My husband picked up a double decker pizza! I had no idea they had them! I was barely able to get through a whole piece! Its stuffed with toppings! I would highly recommend to get some pizza sauce on the side. He got us parmesan and feta. It was amazing! This is a locally owned treasure! I have lived in Evansville my whole life and have had a few things on their menu. Everything I have tried is delicious! I highly recommend it.

I was in town for my daughter’s cheer events and had time to eat prior to her performance at Ford Center. I searched area for Pizza places and came across this old school pizza joint. Very friendly staff, local / home town atmosphere!! Had to try double decker pizza and was not disappointed! It’s very filling, so took plenty home for leftovers 😁 saved this spot in my maps for the next time I get down to the area.

Food was pretty good (stopped in for Stromboli week), soany chips on the plate... , service was okay but I asked for easy ice in my water and I dont guess they know what that means....it was too cold to drink (I have sensitive teeth) and the guy wasnt super friendly (not rude, but not fun like at Lakeview or super pleasant like at Twisted Tomato).

Good food and atmosphere. Shared a full strom and full salad with wife and both were full. And got a beer all for 23$ before tip.

Decided to come here for a bite to eat and a couple drinks although skeptical about ordering food in a bar I was very much satisfied by what I ordered. The drinks were good and cold and music being played made it a very enjoyable experience. I will be returning very soon to try something different.

What a feast!I’ve lived in Evansville for about three years, and this is by far the best pizza I’ve found yet! We will definitely be going back.

Seriously good pizza at a reasonable price. Got some delivery and it was hot upon arrival and tasted fresh. Multiple options to make your own pizza and delicious seasoning on the breadsticks.

I havent tried the pizza yet, but my Texas BBQ stromboli was pretty awesome. I loved it. It is on the sweet side of BBQ. Also, it was a dollar off, and came with chips, and a pickle. It is by far the best deal in town. The price honestly was way cheap and you can see from the pic, the strom is huge.I also got the original strom, but the Texas one I think is the way to go.I ordered the classic meats double decker pizza. On top of having live music (covid allowing), this Evansville original has one of the best pizzas around.The double decker absolutely slams your hunger through a table, with two layers of cheese, sauce, toppings, and a crispy thin crust in between. Truly a unique pizza experience.The thin crust also delivers on an amazing bite, although after having the double decker, it leaves me wanting.Excellent selection of beer on tap, great bread sticks, and an incredible atmosphere.Cannot recommend this enough to anyone unfortunate enough to be in or around Evansville.

The double decker pizza is very good, but it takes a while to cook. If you are hungry you might want to get an appetizer while you wait.A large double decker pizza is a lot to eat. I went with my wife and after eating a small amount she said she was full. We ended up taking almost a half a pizza home.They have an awesome booth with a stained glass window. Its just a cool place.Now for the bad. We ordered sweet Asian chili wings and they brought garlic parmesan wings. We didnt complain - we were hungry. The wings were still good, so thats a plus.Live music from 3-6 pm on Sunday.The picture is a large double decker pizza with pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms.

Had the pork steak with the red beans and rice. It is absolutely my favorite. And the lunch pizza is a wonderful deal.

Heard of for many years yet never tried. Finally decided to try them out. We got the double decker meat pizza. Lots of toppings. It was very good and very filling. I believe we had Annie for waitress she was fantastic. I will come back and try again. Hope the next time is as good as this visit was.

I called in to order the pizza week special. It was like pulling teeth to get the lady to understand what I was wanting. After she finally got my order, I got home and the ham was burnt. Did not taste good at all. Very disappointed

Food was great! Waiter was very nice. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area of downtown Evansville Indiana.

Ordered a grilled tenderloin sandwich, and it was very good. Our waitress was attentive and very pleasant. The biggest turn off was the other waitress. She was disruptive and unhelpful. I even witnessed her walk away from one of her tables and not offer promptly to a spilled drink. She rolled her eyes and then went to take another tables order before getting a roll of paper towels. It was neat to look at and read some of the decor.

This hidden gem is in a blue collar area and a block from rougher stuff, but gosh, it is a cool vibe and well kept. The food is very good. I had stromboli, which was one of the best... ok... the best Ive had ever. high quality ingredients, slightly browned hoagy and some BBQ overtones in the sauce. the beer was cold. Some live music as times too. Love this diamond in the rough.

I wont bother going again. I went to the bar side because I was meeting someone for a drink, I was not sure we would stay for dinner. When I ordered my beer and told the bartender I didnt need a tab, he seemed disappointed. Once my friend arrived it took the bartender a while to get his order and when they didnt have Pepsi, my friend just ordered water. The bartender was obviously upset. We stayed quite a while and decided to get a meal. When I told the bartender we would have separate checks and I just got a sandwich he gave us more attitude. It was early, not at the top meal time, we were not taking up the last table. We were treated rude by the bartender all evening. Ill go somewhere else in the future.

Stopped in for some lunch today. Always a hard decision on what I should get. The sandwiches are always great and the pizza is pretty good as well. Today I decided on the lunch special pizza. You get an 8inch pizza with your choice of toppings. I went with pepperoni, bacon and black olives. I also ordered a cup of chili as I really enjoy their chili. The chili was served first and was nice and hot. Loaded with big pieces of meat. The chili is decently thick and comes with jalapenos in it. Its a tad spicy but nothing too bad. Didnt get a pic as I was hungry and forgot. Lol. Pizza was served a few minutes later and was nice and hot. The crust had a nice crispy texture and the toppings were plentiful. Sauce is very good and the pizza overall was delicious. Highly recommend stopping in. Just be prepared for a small wait for the food. The food is always cooked to order and does take a bit of time. But it is always served hot and fresh.

This was the worst service Ive had. I asked for a water with lemon extra lemon I was given the water with one lemon I asked to have more lemons. The server brought me the lemon by holding the rime and put the 2 lemons in my hand. My appetizer was the pretzel bites they were extremely dark brown, hard, and dry. The server wasnt happy that I returned them and asked not so well done pretzel bites. We sometimes had to ask another server to get us something. It took my acquaintance 30 minutes to get there drink. They hardly check-in on us. The food was okay but not the service.

Met up for lunch, 1st time here... Staff was friendly. It wasnt very clean or cool considering it was 95° out. A waitress eventually asked if it was warm & then she turned the AC down after.Also they didnt have Crown Apple, I took a Jack Apple/Sprite instead and it was just too watery like flat sprite. But the pizza we shared was damn good!! I really liked it! I will prolly return to try the fried tenderloin sandwich :-)

Ordered a double decker Mediterranean pizza for the first time. Very good. Though we like crispy crust better.

Tried to make a order when I have been told multiple times that you can buy a large plus toppings and get the second free, I usually get two medium deluxe pizzas for the buy one get one half off, but the encounter I just had was terrible professionalism. Basically called me a liar and hung up on me, so I will never give them my business ever again, and I hope no one else does either.

We have been to the Deerhead many times over the years and always enjoy the staff and food. Pizza and salads are fantastic. The salads are fresh and very big, even the small one we split. Had some sandwiches that I loved like the pork tenderloin and a couple I didnt. I didnt like the Ruben, maybe just my personal taste. Atmosphere is great and there are several choices for seating; i.e.: patio room, a small one table room, medium size room, bar, and main dinning rooms. Parking both on property and across the street. One of our many go-to places for enjoying friends and family. Recommend trying it.

I really enjoy this place. In the spirit of full disclosure I will say that the only thing Ive ever eaten here would be the double decker pizza. That is enough however. If you havent tried this you definitely should. The cheese pull is fantastic. Great crust. Fresh ingredients. Im sure their other food is good as well. My only complaint would be that aside from salad there are really no gluten free items on the menu. Could we add some bone in wings that arent breaded? Just my humble suggestion.

Visited with family in town. We had a party of 8 and were seated. After 10 mins we still didnt have menus and no one had taken our drink order. When we inquired about the above, we were told it would be an hour or two before they could take our order...After we were already seated. We frequent the deerhead, so not sure whats going on here.

Such a great place. Our waitress, Annie, was great. Helpful and attentive. The atmosphere is great- homey and charming. Pizza was hot and delicious. Live music was FANTASTIC. Troy Miller was just amazing and I hope I get to hear him play again. This wasn’t originally where we planned on stopping, but I’m so glad we did. I will recommend to anyone who visits Evansville.

Service was great, went on a bit of a windy day, but we sit out in the little sidewalk area and had some of the best pizza in town. We had the DoubleDecker meats pizza, and omg it was huge and very delicious

Deerhead Pizza is a beautiful neighborhood restaurant/tavern. They have an unexpectedly broad menu-- lots of good lunch choices outside pizza-- and theyre attentive and friendly with service. I understand that live music used to be part of things much more often, and I very much hope that comes back.

Fantastic food. We started with appetizers of cheese sticks, jalapeno poppers, cheese bread, and pretzels. Cheese sticks were crisp and cheese had good stretch. Marinara dipping sauce was a perfect warm with nice chunks of tomatoes. Pretzels came with a delicious white cheese. Then pizza was served. We had a double stacked pepperoni and a double stacked meat lovers. Sweet sauce, cheese had fantastic stretching. Cheese pizza and the cheeseburger pizza were thin crust. They were crispy but not burned. The cheeseburger pizza stole the show and was a favorite by all. The restaurant and staff were able to accommodate our large group of 14. Kept drinks filled without issue. Very friendly wait staff. Had a member of our group that was vegan. They did have a selection to please that food sensitivity.

I went here with my girlfriend the other evening and it was an awesome date night. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. I would highly recommend the Greek salad. The dressing really sets it apart. I think it has a hint of mint in it. Anyways, my girlfriend and I got the double decker pizza which was awesome as well. I could only finish one slice though so make sure you don’t order too big of a pizza! The only bad part of my experience was the “lax” service. I wouldn’t say it was bad, just laid back as it was not too busy. This resulted in waiting on Water and my order for a bit longer than desired. I totally understand how it is though as my work experience predominantly consists of restaurants. All in all it was a great experience and date night!

The double decker supreme pizza was really good. Chuck, the owner, was very friendly and our waitress was did an awesome job. The atmosphere was very friendly and relaxing.

Well lit, good atmosphere, friendly staff, good food. It is a safe environment to have a meal with friends and family. You should check it out at least once. I live nearby, and on the nights of live music they do a lot of business! And I have never seen or heard of police being called for any reason. That impresses me.

Excellent food. The pork tenderloin sandwich was very tender and flavorful. My son had a pizza and said it was very good. My husband had a grilled pork steak with red beans & rice. Great flavor and very tender. The staff was very friendly. It was a nice casual atmosphere. We will definitely go back next time we are in Evansville, IN.

Took the Grandsons for their first time. Of course they loved it. Great service and the pizza was killer. Pretzel bites with the three cheese sauce was enjoyed by all. The Greek salad and dressing was delicious. Next time Ill have a beer when our boyzzz arent with us. An Evansville staple for years. Well be back. Service was great !

I had the pleasure of stopping in and enjoying Deerhead! I live in Louisville and was traveling through made a stop and was nothing short of amazed! Great atmosphere, great service and yes best of all their double decker pizza!!! We also tried their nachos they were delicious as well!!! I will definitely be making a special trip back from Louisville to enjoy this food and fun!

Our server was great! I cannot remember her name. It was last Sunday [9/13/20] and she had a long dark pony tail. Probably in her 30s! My boyfriend and I sat in on of the back rooms and it made for an amazing date! Great service, great food, amazing time overall!

The garlic toast had huge pieces of garlic under the cheese; that got stuck in my teeth and tasted terrible. I am a garlic fanatic, so for me to complain about garlic it has to be pretty bad. We got a DearHead dip. The meat was flavorless boiled Grey meat. When I asked why there was no seasoning or salt the waitress said proudly We cook our own meat, we dont put salt on any of our food. We have elderly people who eat here. I know that elderly people like flavor. I would not go back here. The waitress was weird and hovered over the table and the food was NOT any better.

Wonderful place! Pizzas are very good. I love their strombolis and onion rings. Very good!! Onion rings are dipped and fried. Not store bagged bought. They also have good slaw. Husband has the roast beef and steak fries usually. But here lately has had the meat pizza. Great taste and aroma! Sometimes we get there and just a few people are seated but dont be fooled. When a few start walking in, they dont stop. It definitely is a favorite spot for many! I want to have a good salad some day. Ive seen others order and out comes a large great looking salad (I just love my Strom so much). They have their music nights and special events. Its a bustling place; Im sure people will enjoy dining.

I would highly recommend going somewhere else, especially if you are looking for somewhere to take your family. I went here with my girlfriend and a group of her friends. As soon as we walked in they were called “hookers” and other profane words by a redneck customer dining with his family. He then said that they needed to learn how to “take a joke”. The management did nothing about this and acted as if it didn’t happen. I should have known better based off of the social media posts made by the business. This is the exact crowd that they want to attract. Not only that, it took over an hour and a half for our food to come out. You can find better food at 10 other pizza places on the west side that serve the same thin crust pizza, but there you won’t be harassed. If you are looking to be harassed by drunk rednecks and eat average pizza, then this is the place for you. If not, I would recommend Franklin Street Pizza Factory or Spankeys Pizza. There you will find great food and great service.

Ive only eaten here once, with my friends and I can definitely say that I will be a returning customer! I had the Philly cheese steak sandwich and it is in the top 5 best Ive ever had. I cant wait to try the rest of the food!

Typical Evansville establishment, its mediocre and people around here think its fantastic. We got a Greek salad, which was completely flavorless, the dressing just tasted like vegetable oil. Also had a Philly cheese steak, which was just ok. Bacon cheeseburger pizza was good. Prices are good, service was fine.

We like coming in to Deerhead but they were way under on staff. What should have been a quick lunch turned into an hour and a half. I am making a note to stay clear of Deerhead on Monday. The food was good but my pizza really was not hot.

Amazingly greasy trash food pizza. I was extremely hungry and went here based on Google and convenience. I ordered a big meat lovers type of pizza to go and I regretted my decision almost immediately after opening the pizza box. It was not a pretty sight but I was hungry and tried to enjoy it anyway. A couple of weird small square sliced pieces of pizza into the thing I was completely over the experience. Its on par with like a Cicis buffet type of budget trash pizza made with extremely cheap ingredients. Avoid like the plague unless you actually are looking forward to that brutal toilet hangover time tomorrow.

The food was great. Could use a better beer selection bit overall food and drinks were great. Service was lacking at best. Ready to leave and didnt see our waitress for about 45 minutes. Was going to order another drink but wasnt ready to be there another 2 hours to get it.

0 stars! I looked up there website said they were open! So I ordered online, paid, everything went through, told me pizza would be ready in 30 minutes. Left to go get the pizza just to find out they were CLOSED!Went online to try and see if there was a way to get a refund, NOPE. Tried to call to see if anyone would answer, NOPE. Went and checked my account to see if it withdrew, SURE DID. I checked when they were “open” next, it said Thursday. So I waited and now here I am on Thursday trying to get a refund and NO ONE will answer the phone. I have tried to call many times through out the day and same thing over and over again, rings till it hangs up. Horrible service.

Best & First double pizza I ever had. Loved it with ingredients wrapped in the edges of the crust. Very filling but delicious, could only eat one slice.

The double decker pizza was really good. We got the supreme. The jalapeno poppers were good as well. Not much seating, but there is a bar. They do have patio seating though. Great beer on draft as well. Defintely good food.

I am really glad that my wife and I decided to stop in the Dearhead tonight. It was exactly what we needed, good food, great service and most importantly, it was nice and quiet. Very relaxing. We had the garlic cheese bread and a double cheeseburger pizza. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious.

Ive heard about this place often but never tried it. Troy Miller plays there every Sunday from 3-6:00 so I thought thatd be as good of time as any to try. Ive heard raves about this double decker pizza, I went with the pepperoni. Ill have to say it had no flavor at all: from the crust, sauce and cheese. Maybe if I got more toppings there would be more flavor, but I shouldnt have to do that. It was hot and the double decker is hard to come by, cooked perfectly just no flavor. I think Ill try a sandwich next time. The service was excellent! My beer was never empty and the waitress stopped by the table often.

Home of the double decker pizza which in effect are two thin crust pizzas with cheese and sauce cooked on top of one another. The large Greek salad or house salad you could make four side servings out of easily. Their homemade Greek dressing is pretty good too. Also, they have a winter batch of chili made with stew meat, no beans, and of course very spicy.

Best bar menu in town. Pizzas are superior (try the double decker). Dont overlook the porksteak w beans&rice.Charming decor plays up the buildings 1870s roots. Top notch staff.

In searching for a place to grab a bite, the words pizza and jazz caught my attention. A definite must!! Good food, good service, great atmosphere.

Their strombolis are great and its a great place to listen to some live jazz, but I just came here to talk about the double decker pizza. First thought... Oh my goodness. I order one of these pizzas a few times a year for my employees and we love it. Load it up with all of the meats and one piece will fill you up. Of course, it tastes so good I always go back for a second piece and get so full that I have to take a nap. Thats okay because I have an office and my dreams are filled with pizza fairies. Seriously, go there and get a double decker pizza. You wont be disappointed.

Deerhead Tavern is a fun place to dine. You can eat in the bar, family room, banquet room or dine in the enclosed porch area. I love their fresh Greek Salad it is a very generous serving enough for three or four people. Their menu has a variety of offerings. I just love the atmosphere and the quality of the fool.

Deerhead Cafe is always a great place for entertainment and has good food as well as great service ! There was a tribute band playing Tom Petty songs while we were there for pizza. Its nice to see people get out and have a good time. Never been disappointed going to Deerhead Cafe.

Waited almost 2 hours for our food, which was cold when it got to the table. $63 for mediocre food, which was only for 2 people. Very disappointed as I was so excited to try this place. Wouldn’t go back.

Came to Evansville to see hairball concert. Left concert early because wife wanted to go to deerhead. We walked in at 10pm Saturday and the bartender determined that my wife was too drunk to be served food. I have never seen a restaurant bar refuse to serve a person food because they were intoxicated. She did not even have time to misbehave because we were turned away at the door. I called back to find out how someone can be too intoxicated to eat pizza and the manager cussed me out over the phone. Unbelievable! Wont be recommending this place to anyone that wants to have fun in Evansville.

Food was awesome. But the waitress named Angela decided to help herself to an extra $4.00 off of my debit card when I left her a $5.00 tip. She has probably ripped off MANY of your customers, they just dont know it. AND, your manager on duty- June 2, 2016 @ 11:30 am, told me to leave when I showed him my electronic bank statement proving Angela stole money from a paying customer. Who knows, maybe he was in on it. Any ways, I wont be back and after News channel 25 gets this story out--- others may feel the same way...

Best pizza in the tri state, hands down! The double decker is the best Ive ever had. Great sandwiches also. One of the best kept secrets around. A true hidden gem.

I’ll take Deerhead over Turoni’s any day of the week. Pizza sauce has such great flavor and they never skimp on the cheese.

My family and I had lunch there recently and, as usual, it didnt disappoint. The food was great, the service superb and the staff and atmosphere are why they have so many repeat customers.

I love Deerheads food. Their double decker pizza is well known in Evansville. My favorites there are the pork or chicken souvlakian and the vegetable beef soup. They have live music there a lot and a decent beer selection. Highly recommend it for a night out for drinks, dinner, or food to go is my go to.

Great place to relax and have some good food. Not over priced. Nice bar and the patio seating is very pleasant as well. 👍

Pizza was good! Went back to try sandwich was not as happy. And this time lots of flies where inside the out door dining. They left the flaps up.

Rude waitress and 3 out of 4 of the pizzas we got were burnt and lacked flavor. Unfortunate.

Excellent food, our waitress was a bit offish, but she may have had a bad day. Entertainment was great! Will definitely continue to eat at Deerhead.

Loved the Greek salad & Big Bucks pizza was great however the salt,pepper, parmesan cheese & red pepper flake shakers were greasy & sticky plus we had a bug in our parmesan cheese shaker.

Flat bread was dull, tasteless. They were nice and took off bill. Greek salad had overwhelming amount of feta and lettuce was horrible.

An old standard. My family and I have been going here for years. Great pizza, great sandwiches, awesome local live music, and friendly folks. Just a cool place to hang out and eat.

Deerhead is always a great go to. The food is good every single time, without a doubt. Sometimes service can be a bit slow when they are extremely busy but they remain friendly through the chaos. Always love Deerhead.

The cares of this world fade to a dull murmur, then fall silent. Marinated pork, sautéed onion, and feta cheese sing a love song to mankinds mastery of flavor, and atheists pause to reconsider, unable to explain the sensation of angels on their tongues.

A very unique local pizza experience. The double decker is like nothing Ive ever had. Two pieces is plenty for most guys!

Don’t make it over here as often as I would like, but its really good pizza.

Service wasnt great, didnt feel welcomed. Had 1 pitcher of Bud Lite for like $9 smh

The last two times I have visited here the bartender didnt even acknowledge us. Not even to welcome us there even though we were sitting in the bar. We were also charged extra for cheese on our cheese burger and .30 for onion and it wasnt even a whole slice of onion. I wont go back
