This is my favorite club in ferndale. They always have different events going throughout the week and sometimes even live music shows. Prices are also good for metro Detroit nightlife. Awesome patio and outdoor space too!
Orchid is a nice place to go! It was clean and the vibe was good and theres a mixture of different ethnicities which was cool too. I also like the young lady that was emceeing on the mic. She herself was a vibe. The only issue that we had was with the DJ. I think her name was Pressure and the songs she played were fine, she just didnt have a good flow! She went from a fast song to a slow song and back and forth you just didnt know where she was going but overall, we had a good time!!!
Under this new management, the prices of drinks went up a few bucks each. Back patio seats were removed when I went and the back bar wasn’t open either. Not sure what their plans are, but increasing costs and taking away some features aren’t the most inviting. Hoping to see some house music nights tho 💿👀
I went for the first time finally after the new ownership and while the vibes were good, the drinks were all at least 50% more expensive. What hit the tipping point for me though is when the DJ called out a $5 you call its special and so my friend and I went up to the bar, the bartender said what drink special? She went to the back to check and ask and came back to say no there wasnt anything like that.
Security was trash. The booths are too close so everyone spills into other sections. Someone went through our stuff and stole my wallet while I was standing there. No manager, no real help, just some oh wells and let me shine the flashlight in the same place that was checked. Everyone was so close,someone from the next booth spilled my drink. Really stressful. Whats the point of the booth if om still forced to be over crowded by strangers. Paid 40 to just be irritated
Went to the 90s-2000s throwbacks night for my Bachelorette night out and honestly we had the BEST time! The crowd here was so diverse and really fun. The guys creep a lot here but it’s a club so, lol can’t always avoid that. Other than that I loved it and I also love the patio they have in the back when you need a breather. PLUS we got in free with RSVP through the Eventbrite app! It was just perfect.
Fun environment. Loved the patio. I didn’t like that the tips were included on the bill and Bartenders/servers don’t say anything. Bathroom is dirty and wasn’t stocked.

Trash!!! I cancelled my ticket in the timeframe to receive my refund and the Orchid Theatre isnt honoring their policy. Dont trust them with your money. I wouldve gave them 0 stars but I couldnt!

I’ve been coming here for over 10 years and I can tell you it will be awhile before I come back . This has always been my go to spot on a Friday and Saturday night . I recently found out there’s new owners . The whole place has been gutted removing the dance stages and all the tables and chairs so there’s no place to dance or sit so you’re forced to rent a booth or be squeezed in at the bar . The drinks are now over priced and they’re charging for water , which is crazy for how small their drinks are and seriously $3 for a cup of water !? . They now have concerts / events with multiple djs who play nothing but techno and music no one really knows . I along with many other patrons are disappointed with how much this place has changed . Please bring back the old orchid with good music and good drinks .
Drinks tasted funny.....I ordered a tequila and Pineapple that tasted like tequila and gin....suspect....overall had fun as we were just in town for the weekend

I been here a couple of times. The place is very nice and clean so far so good.Its a great place to go for a party with friends and the drinks were good also the DJ played good old & new music .I have no problem coming back to this place. I read some of the reviews that they were racist there? I didnt experience or see that to someone at all. Ive seen Black,White, Asian & more. I mean Im a foreigner and they welcome everyone there unless you do stupid stuff .They asked my ID thats totally normal for me.They even guide me in and opened the door for me to get in my car.Staff there all nice and friendly.Very deserving for a 5 star.I definitely recommend this place !!! ❤
Edit: staff was friendly apon my return this weekend (2/12/23) and mentioned staffs choice to remove me last time was uncalled for.They kicked me off top stage. Iasked why and they just ignored me. After I got down they kicked me out of the club and only after kicking me out did they say policy is no men on top stage. It was 1:40am whats the issue one dude on stage while everyone is on their way out anyways. Wild coming from the Ferndale area. I used to love this club.
From the outside to inside of this club is very nice. Bouncers are friendly and ready to take care of you whenever someone is bothering you . Drinks 🍹 are amazing , Find Erica if you can .She’s a great bartender and makes good cocktail and shot. Great music as well 🎶. 💯 Highly recommended 😍We had so much fun .
A group of us were here for my friends birthday. Per previous reviews there was no issues with the security guards. The actual place looks really nice inside and the outside patio looks very spacious and nice. The drinks were most definitely watered down but maybe it was done purposely due to drink specials and to force you to buy more. My friend requested music from the DJ and the response was racist and the song was never played. I enjoyed it due to my friends birthday however this is not a place I’d return to or recommend ever.

Its a fun and chill place to be! They have a spacious indoor seating, as well as an outside area with a bar. Parking was easy because it was right across the street from the orchid located in the back. The bar tender was very helpful and friendly and suggested a great drink that was sooo good (so they know what theyre doing here ;) ). Theres also happy hour where you can get drinks for $4 each soooo, being here was a deal lol.
They literally gave my CC to a stranger they kicked out. I have no idea how you screw up that badly when dealing with a person you’re having to physically remove from a bar. Absolutely abhorrent management here.After showing apprehension to give my card over to start my tab (which is such an outdated practice to physically give a card), the bartender literally stated, “Your card is in good hands”.Everyone’s entitled to act stupid every once and awhile, but this staff really abuses the privilege.
I went here last weekend with my friends. First off, the drinks are well priced and the bartenders are awesome. They also play some great music. However, we had an incident where my friends and I were dancing on the raised platform. The security guards yelled at my friend to then leave then platform. When we inquired as to why, the security guard said that it was for women only. No men allowed up there. My friend is non-binary, so that didnt apply at all. They still made them get off. It is questionable that they would only want women up there. Seems like they only want women, so they can be objectified and put on display. We were dancing to Taylor Swift for gods sakes. Not queer friendly and especially shady towards women. Will not be coming back!

I love Orchid! It’s a fun vibe. All the staff are so nice and professional. The music slaps. The crowd is very diverse and I’ve seen every demographic get down on the dance floor. Their booths are great for a special occasion or just to have a more intimate experience. I definitely recommend Orchid for a night out.
Me and my friends have been coming here for a few months. Bartenders are super friendly and music is great. Overall positive vibes in the place. I had left my ID and credit card there the last time and the owner made sure I could come get it immediately.

This is the best nightclub in metro Detroit hands down. Ive been a regular since 2016. good drinks, great crowd, no drama, no fights ever, centrally located, not to crowded. I love this place, I would give it 10 stars if I could. oh and great mix of music. Message on Facebook for a table reservation. I cant say enough good things. just go and experience it yourself.
Had a great experience at Orchid! Cheap drinks, beautiful women, and awesome music. The bartenders were sweet enough to help me find my ID when I lost it. I’ll be back next Saturday!
The club is nice, however, there needs to be more r&b music played.Had a Birthday party there, rented a booth and was never shouted out along with others who bday there was.Cousin requested a song 3 times to the DJ and neither never got played.. all were appropriate club songs.
Loved going here before new management when they still had the girls stage in really sad to see they took it out but over all it’s still a great place to go and have fun with friends

BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE!! For the past seven years, this club has gone through some changes from bad , good and now the worst. The drinks are definitely watered down forcing you to buy way more than you can afford. The songs are too generic and repetitive with no soul, rap or even any kind of good drops. The crowd in the club definitely didn’t feel like it was diverse enough, the age gap is very broken and to make matters WORSE you have a very particular security guard who is VERY ARROGANT, AGGRESSIVE AND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL HE WOULD BE ONE SIDED AND NOT VIEWING THE WHOLE PICTURE IN SITUATIONS AT THE CLUB. This PARTICULAR bouncer chubby and short has had many complaints from many customers about wrongful accusations. So I warn anyone who goes there will have to be extra cautious with the security guards. IT WOULD DEFINITELY RUIN YOUR VIBE EVEN IF YOU ATTEMPT TO HELP A STUMBLING PERSON FROM GETTING HURT, BE CAREFUL OF GETTING AMPLIFIED IN THE SITUATION WITH THE SECURITY GUARDS ONE SIDED PERSPECTIVES.
Waited in line for 30 mins on NYE and when we finally got inside we were repaid w/ Maroon 5 playing. Lol. The music didn’t any better. I felt like I was listening to a wedding DJ that had given up on updating music in 2010.No N/A options. Had a Shirley Temple. You’d think with all the n/a beers and liquor substitutes there would be a n/a menu esp on NYE as folks would want a designated driver.The staff all were very nice. The place looked really nice and the crowd was friendly as hell. Just wish the music was better than a radio station on their Friday night mix. We came to dance and Maroon 5, Alan Thicke, Justin Timberlake, and Nelly Furtado…. ain’t gunna move me.
I havent been to Orchid in about 4 years. They changed the floor which is awesome. I love the outside patio. Music was good and the crowd was coming in. I met some friends there and had a good time.
The security guards are rude and kept me and my friends out for “dress code” violations, even though we changed into clothes to meet the requirements multiple days in a row. They’re also extremely mean in general, even when I was let in before. The music is out of date anyways. The security guard also pointed at us as we were walking to a different club on another day for no reason, which I found unprofessional.
My favorite bar EVER. I complain if I go anywhere else and never have fun. The long islands are on point every time and they’re only $5 a piece! It is never a rowdy or uncomfortable place to be. I absolutely love the outdoor patio with fireplaces. I go almost every weekend and everyone I bring loves it just as much. This place has my heart!
I absolutely loved my experience at this establishment last night! To start the security was absolutely amazing, they were all very nice guys and quick to solve problems! (Shout out to Travis, good luck with your upcoming nuptials!!!) Next the coach check ladies, super nice and sweet, remembered my coat and my face which was awesome! Super friendly girls plus coat check is only $1! Now for the bartenders, they all were dancing and having a great time taking orders, cleaning and still engaging with guests. Great experience ladies and gentlemen I will most deffinitly be back soon!!!!

Racist place with clear discriminatory actions towards black men. Was disrespected and talked down to by bouncers and door staff and then it was acknowledged that I was intentionally being treated differently by a bouncer and female friend was told she was “probably right” that things would have been different if I were white. This place sucks.

Had a great time this past Friday night. My friend spilled her drink on my dress lol!! DJ played Blackpink for us. We will be back next Friday. We walked to the outside patio and it has heaters and fire pits.

Kendhal definitely keeps the energy up and flowing for everyone who enters! Security can be seen frequently scanning to assure every guest is comfortable and having a great time!
Im there every weekend... Friday nights are my favorite! The crowd is always so diverse that anyone should feel comfortable to let loose and party. Plus, the staff is super focused on making sure that women, especially, feel comfortable to have fun. If a guy is making any lady feel uncomfortable and being inappropriate, the security will make sure that it is taken care of immediately. Definitely a great place for girls night out or a bachelorette party! PLUS, no other place Ive been can compare with the drink specials!

How is it we was there Friday and got in no problem, but yesterday it was a issue with my friend shirt? Were there EVERY Saturday and never had a problem. Tried to talk to the manager he act like he was too good to stop texting. So we ended up going to Luna in Royal oak. 89.7 was there, had a awesome time.
Nice club, I think it is LGBTQ friendly. Good atmosphere. I didnt order a drink or food. I might try next time.
In my heart, Orchid is 6 stars. This is my favorite bar in the area to go out dancing. Strong and cheap drinks with plenty of room and great music. The patio is great in the summers! I have to give it 4 stars because the average person may find it a little grungy but I think that is part of its charm. With a little bit of investment in the interior this could be the go to spot in Metro Detroit.
Decent sized club that plays edm music mostly. The club has $2 drink specials which change hourly. Overall this place isnt the best but not the worst either. Crowd can vary depending on the night. Waitresses are nice but I felt the bar tenders were rude and didnt serve promptly. There is a smoking area/ outdoor area in the back that has fire pits. Sound system as well as light system is nice but I found there was a weird smell pretty much all over.
Went here for the first time & I will not go back. Our (black) friend was told he was not allowed in because he had a plaid shirt on. We looked inside & saw a handful of people wearing plaid flannels & our friend was in a Ralph Lauren dress shirt. The bouncer kept stating he doesnt make the rules but we kept arguing until he let him in. After we got in, we asked the head of security why they have a rule about plaid & he said they didnt. I will not support a place like this.
Definitely not a black friendly establishment. Ive been to this place multiple times with straight hair and had no problem getting in due to my dress code (specifically ripped jeans). Apparently, however, there is a dress code policy that does not allow ripped jeans. I was never made aware of this until my hair was in its natural state (an afro). Will never come back here.
Homophobes work here and discriminate. The whole district knows it. Save yourself from going here. The place is usually dead and people tend to just stand on the dance floor.
Good variety of music that is easy to dance to. The creep factor is relatively low compared to many other local night clubs. Drinks are reasonably priced and you never have to wait long to get them. Theres a large outdoor patio to smoke or simply cool off away from the crowd. Its located in a good spot where you can walk to nearby restaurants or bars if thats where the night should take you.
I seen multiple comments about the place being racist, but my experience here was great. I went by myself, (black female) and everyone was very polite to me. The bouncer was black, and he was a sweet man. The bartender that floats around the club gave me no attitude, and she was helpful. No problems from the DJ, his music is very diverse. Surprised they played Cardi B. It was a good night, ALTHOUGH there were too many single men that were a bit too touchy touchy. Maybe someone needs to stroll around the club to monitor.
My friend and I went when they had a Halloween costume contest. He was dressed as “female Shaggy” from the Scooby-Doo 2 movie. The bouncer made a fuss about his costume, refusing to let him on the stage while others were allowed. He then commented on a different friend of ours being attractive, but she was hanging out with a man who had “titties”. Very unprofessional and ignorant. Go to Soho instead- they’re much more accepting!
Staff is always good but I just wish they get a better DJ. He plays the same music every time I’m there and it gets boring. They need to add more Hip-Hop and not just techno
Went there for my friends birthday party, was kicked out for literally no reason. Wasnt overly drunk or loud but was singled out away from my group and they didnt even let me get my coat.
Good music; but nothing else to brag about. Rude staff & management, overcrowded. The only saving grace is its prime location in the Ferndale area, but the area lost its hipster tag years ago. Place only worried about profit; so if you want to get into car accidents via getting hit by amateur drinkers, by all means go around here by closing times. By the way, nice job on having people other than everyday patrons post BS positive reviews to help business.
Okay so I agree with Christopher Stacherskis review. I went here very open-minded for my birthday, looking to celebrate and dance. The staff was nice and quick and I enjoyed their you call it drink special. There was a pimp looking man at least 50 years old walking around randomly pelvic thrusting women. The dance stage consisted of women staring at themselves in the mirror while they danced and their butt cracks hung out of their too tight pants, which was really interesting to watch. The DJ didnt have any original mixes either, more of a generic top 100 kind of thing.

I shouldnt rate because Im not the type to jump at the opportunity to go to a club, but in my opinion; the bartenders were 5/10, floors were sticky as hell, and the place is just straight up ghetto if you ask me. Kinda reminded me of a dumpy strip club.
I visited this club with my boyfriend, my sister and her friends for her birthday. We were there on February 29. My boyfriend had some panic attacks so we went outside several time. The final time we were told to step aside but were not given a reason. It was cold, I had a sleeveless top and my boyfriend, a light hoodie.When we went to go back in, he told us he couldnt let us back in. He stated he saw me pushing people to get outside. I told him my sister lost her phone and I needed to let her know where I was and what happened. He told me I was going to have to find other means.He also would not let my boyfriend in despite him needing to look for his phone also and not being the one to push people. Reading other comments, Im not surprised others were treated different because of their skin color.
Love it! The dance floor is always a blast. They have cheap (not watered down) drinks they are only $2 until 11 oclock every weekend Ive been there a couple times for dance shows and its always been great time
Perfect place to reserve a private booth for a party. Plenty of room to get down on the dance floor. Im always impressed by the wild orchid dancers that perform here on Saturdays. Its nice to go out in ferndale and not have to wait to be served. $2 drinks until 11... Grey Goose, Makers Mark, Crown... All $2 oh, and I cant forget SALSA NIGHTS on Thursdays!

LASTNIGHT FIRST TIME THERE FOR HALLOWEEN: Drunk girls kept dropping random glass drinks on floor breaking them and it not getting completely picked up from dance floor, girls screaming constantly because it was there bday, it was over crowded in there, people almost knocking you down every few moments music was mostly raver style not diverse and it was extremely cliqued up and everyone was segregated as far as color goes we spent all that on costumes and drinks for that? We clearly have a problem out here in Michigan yall 🙄
I have been to orchid so many times, Ive always had a blast drinks were always good! Loved the two dollar your calls its! We just went on Wednesday for the night before thanksgiving I have me +25 people coming. And they bouncer refused to let them all in for free because they didnt all show up at the same time. I had to argue with him multiple times to get my friends in with out paying the $10 cover! We ended up leaving and going to Rosies. Also the club promoter Paul that set up the STUPID Latin nights is an idiot and could hold a conversation because he was drunk. I had my friend Lisa who works there set the reservation for me and the promoter still wouldnt budge. I will not go back again.
Orchid is just poppin!!! They have delicious new drinks and CRAFT beers and they cost $2 until 11pm!!! You cant find that anywhere else 😆 And on top of that the bartenders and waitresses are fun and nice and dress in awesome themes. The music will definitely get your body groovin and channel 95.5 is there on Fridays! So grab your peeps and enjoy a fun filled evening. I know my friends and I do!
I used to go once in awhile, I will never go back. The bar staff is great but unfortunately the security guards and the managers suck pretty hard and that ruins everything. For some odd reason there are some security guards there who enjoy instigating fights with the customers. One specifically who has red hair enjoys talking crap to a friend of mine for no reason. The security guard was about to hit my friend who didnt swear at him, didnt raise his voice to him, didnt even walk up to him actually. I get in between them and I say, Just leave us alone man we didnt do anything wrong. So he calls for back up instantly before anything else when were being peaceful and Im then put in a choke hold to the point I couldnt breathe and kicked out when a simple, You need to go now could have been in order. Then when I calmly tried to talk to the manager about it he didnt give two shits. He more over promoted his security guards to assault us, which by the way is illegal for them to put their hands on you.
Always a GREAT time!! The lighting, DJ, bartenders, and waitstaff are all top notch!! Definitely a frequent stop when out in metro Detroit

First time here and this place is great if you like paying a $5 cover to watch a bunch of trashy people getting into fights. And being harassed by bums after while waiting for a ride. Will not be back. 1/10 would not recommend.

The Tequila Blue comment below really threw me off because that is by far the worst club Ive ever been to. Wow.Orchid, however, has a great sound system, a ton of tvs, great vibes, cheap drinks and great people. Ive never had a hard time meeting nice new people and Ive never had a bad time.
Great place and cheap drinks. My only complaint was that I was told no brown shoes and couldnt enter but seen many of people with brown shoes on.
Wasnt really worth the trip to be told we can go jn because of ripped jeans, but we let in previously with no problem wearing the same style. Its okay to have rules, but dont lie to my face because youre going for a certain aesthetic. The only difference was we were rocking a natural style, and not straight hair as we had before. I wouldnt have thought too much of it, but it looks like this place isnt know for its inclusiveness proven evident in previous reviews. Such a waste on a good location. Save your time and your money. It isnt worth the trip.
Friend DJs for Orchid and had one of our friends who is black sitting next to him in the DJ booth. Was told by the manager Rikki that she couldnt sit in the booth even though the night before he had a few white girls sitting with him and didnt say anything. i also requested a song to a different DJ, and was told they wouldnt play it because theyre trying to keep the hood out
I could fall asleep. All they play on Fridays is nothing but electronic techno freestyle music. Now I understand why it wasnt packed by 12AM. GO TO TEQUILA BLUE instead. Atleast there they play all genres and are willing to try what you request. Joey is hot tho lol
I used to go here every saturday night with 2 good friends. On average we spent about 200$ in drinks every time and the bar staff knew us and loved us.... However, recently some disturbing things have happened... One time I was DDing for my other two friends as I had to work in the morning. I witnessed an extremely inhebriated girl I had spoken to earlier being sexually assaulted by a man that was not her boyfriend who I had also met earlier that night. I went up and asked if she was ok and she couldnt even formulate a sentence in response. I was then put in a headlock from behind by the assaulter and after getting away yelled at him. A bouncer came and stepped between us and told him to walk away. Even though this altercation resulted in a cut below my eye, HE WAS NOT KICKED OUT!! My two friends witnessed the whole thing and yelled at the bouncer and the aggressor and other people were shocked to see he wasnt kicked out either. After addressing the Bouncer that a woman had been sexually assaulted and I was asking if she was ok, he said whatever and walked away!!!A seperate experience, I happened to be DDing again for my same friends and another friend that came along. An off duty bouncer was in civilian cloths and being aggressive and yelled at me and tried to start a fight with me because he saw me watching him make a fool of himself. After watching him being buddy buddy with another bouncer, I just walked away. Later I addressed the Bouncer on duty and asked if he was an off duty bouncer and he replied yes. I said ok, good to know if I need to call the police later because it is obvious that you would have your friends back even if he was at fault. He replied with you got that right and walked away. Later that night I was outside and experienced a bloody nose as I have terrible allergies. I quickly had it stopped and nobody was affected by it. They asked me to step outside because they didnt want any blood on their property. I did while my friends were inside. Once it had fully stopped and I tried to re enter, the bouncer made me aware that I was Done for the night. After explaining it was a medical condition and requesting to meet his manager, he refused both and said sorry oh well. Being the fact that I know the ferndale police very well, I will be speaking to them to file a police report and have Orchid Investigated.In conclusion, if you want to be sexually assaulted, physically assaulted, have bouncers not watching out for anyone but themselves, and want to be kicked out because of a pre existing medical conidition, this is the club for you. Otherwise, I would advise to stay away. Me and my friends determined after the most recent experience that we will no longer be going to Orchid for saftey concerns. Good luck.
I will never go to this place again. Apparently when you get stamped after getting in that means nothing. No matter how cold, or how long the line is they make you get back in line. Instead of telling you that up front, they wait until you go outside, and then dont let you come back in, despite the fact that you reserved and have a stamp. Completely ruined my night.
Drink pricing was decent here and the music kind of varies from Pop-EDM to hip-hop!

When calling them, they dont even answer their phone. I thought this place was 18+ place to go clubbing but we how were suppose to know if they dont even answer their phone. Going to Elektr club since there is better than here.
I had plans to come here on my 21st birthday. When we were standing in line to go in, they were so rude to my best friend that I turned right back around and walked out. I will never even attempt to go here again.
The security guards were very unpleasant and was very rude to my friends and I. The security guards wouldn’t let my friends and I in because of our pants. Wouldn’t want to go into this club anyway. Do not go here.

This club easily puts every other club in the area including Royal Oak to shame. Sound system, sub-woofer, and light show are amazing and the music played is a great mix of top 40s and electronic/house music. This is my favorite club next to Luna and Commune in Royal Oak. You just cant beat the atmosphere, prices, and staff.

Bartenders discriminate against women. They’re so rude and don’t listen to anyone about drink orders but men. They’re dressed very inappropriately and very mean. Won’t be returning .
