The Ruin

I recently came here as a musician to perform. I will not be visiting here again, mainly due to the sound guy. Hes incredibly short-tempered. Had a gun on him and made it very obvious. Was also screaming at people. Even wore a shirt that said Tri-State Killing Spree. Whether thats a band or not, wearing that while presenting other red flags is enough to make anybody uncomfortable. Not a bar Id recommend playing at.

Known for live music. It can hold 80 people max but its comfortable with 30. It has liquor and beer available. They have games for people to play. It is an all ages venue so be aware if you see a baby with headphones on. It does have a gravel parking lot but I would recommend just parking on the street. The actual bar is hard to get to because they have chairs right in front of it. They do have some unique things like lunchables as food. They used to have a vodka Capri Sun drink. Its definitely Fort Wayne weird.

The Ruin is a hip bar that is definitely worth checking out. The atmosphere is chill and inviting, with exposed brick and cozy seating that makes you feel right at home. The live music adds an extra layer of ambiance that makes for a great night out.But what really sets The Ruin apart is the drinks. The bartenders are skilled mixologists who craft inventive cocktails with top-shelf ingredients. Whether youre in the mood for a classic drink or something more adventurous, they have you covered.Overall, if youre looking for a place with a cool vibe, great drinks, and live music, The Ruin should definitely be on your list. Its the perfect spot to unwind with friends and soak up some good vibes.

(8/3) i was verbally attacked by the owner of the bar (Cassie) who was absolutely drunk out of her mind. she was extremely mean and disrespectful to me and one of the bands playing a show last night. absolutely embarrassing behavior.

I would put zero but that’s not an option. i heard the owner had herpes and i saw her spit in a drink. i am absolutely disgusted. never coming back.

Really does need to be 0 star option. Staff is so unfriendly. Its old and just not worth coming here. So many better places to go.

Great place to visit. Had a good time with friends the bar tender was amazing.

I used to love coming to this place until one of the staff members decided to drunkenly cause a scene and put her hands on multiple people (including me and one of the performers). what was originally supposed to be a fun night at a show here ended up being one that stressed me out so much. im very disappointed and upset and dont plan on coming back.

Unfortunately this establishment is well known for their racist treatment of customers and talent, and the harassment of customers and talent, especially by the owner.

Amazing people and atmosphere, great place for fun times.

The venue is ok, really not too impressive. The crowd is questionable with what venue is playing. So far the 3 times I have gone the choice of so called performances have been drunk friends wanting to be on stage to show off their karaoke skills. Nothing but useless style trying rap/hip hop that is very unimpressive. This could be a good place if they had a better person searching for better performances. Plus paying $5.00+ dollars to hear noise is not worth it.

Heads up that the bathrooms not accessible to wheelchairs!We used to enjoy going to The Ruin. It books some cool bands and has good drinks at fair prices. But then my husband had a stroke and now uses a wheelchair. We went to the Ruin on Saturday thinking they had wheelchair accessible bathrooms, because the Google map section on accessibility said they did, but that was not the case. The bathroom doors are only 28 wide, which is not quite wide enough to enter in a wheelchair. Ive submitted an edit to that accessibility section, but just in case that doesnt go through, I thought Id better try and warn other wheelchair users.

If you want to be verbally harassed and called names by an intoxicated owner, this is the perfect place for you

Very cool space and a great place to watch local acts perform. Nice beer selection. The only downgrade is that the bartender was totally disinterested in other customers while spending their time talking with personal friends and getting drunk on the job.

Very very small place . It is very musty smelling but it is a old building. Nothing on tap. Something is not right when the bar has coloring books and finger puppets . No food here unless you are ok with a bag of chips. Will not be back.

Cool bar, love the feeling and look inside. Cant really see the stage well when sitting in the bar are but the sound system was great. Had some pretty cool bands Sat night. It is very musty smelling inside. Which isnt uncommon in older buildings. If you have allergies you will probably be affected pretty quickly though. Worth the drop in. Staff was super friendly!

First time, it was a great experience.The stage show was talented (blue wave) and the drinks offered were unique.

Attended an Arlo McKinley concert at The Ruin. Nice small venue. Sound was decent but that’s more on the band’s sound engineer. Narrow shotgun style bar. Cassie was very accommodating to our needs for ADA seating during a GA show. Cold beer and looks to be adding food items. Would go back again down the road. We had a good time..

Super small, super loud, live band.. walked in and definitely had to walk out. Ears rang for 10 mins. Not my cup of tea vibe

Tonight I revisited the Ruin for another night of amazing music. A reclaimed neighborhood bar. A nice, new little venue in Fort Wayne. The service was great. The music was great. We will be back. So much good music happens here. Im not one to go to a bar but where music happens I will go.

Love the bar, I’m super new to the area sadly I’m moving back home to the east coast. But as a visitor who has been here on several different occasions, Cassie and everyone working there made me feel like I belonged. Cassie has always been extremely sweet and I’ve seen her interact with guests kindly even when extremely busy. They have karaoke on Wednesday nights and they even let you bring in an instrument and play in an open mic setting! Definitely a recommended spot from me! Check it out!

Best band lineup in town, drink specials are reasonable, and the bartenders are really kind. Karaoke is so much fun here too, no pressure

We had such a great experience there! At first the drinks were fantastic! But then another bartender started making them and they were subpar. The first couple drinks we had were fantastic and were mixed as though they should have been. We had a great time listening to the music though some fantastic musicians including Los galaxy, and Jack Welty!

Always a great place to go and see my favorite bar owner Cassie. A great place in the heart of downtown. Great prices , great drinks, with great service!

New bar in an old spot and it was a awsome! We were there in the middle of the day for a poker run so it was probably not a normal experience. We met the owner and she is super cool. Staff is super friendly and beer selection is good. We will be going back soon.

Place is a joke I guess. Almost purposefully bad service...really strange. Also advertises as a craft beer bar...yet has no IPAs. Nor really any other craft beer. Server couldnt take 5 seconds to let me know details of draft list, which would have been helpful considering no bottle or draft list. Fort wayne....smh demand better

Beautiful, beautiful building. But Cassie is a jerk as anyone will tell you 🤷 and a lot of people dont like it when youre rude. If you look at other reviews on yelp Im sure someone will mention her. She runs a cute bar at least. Hopefully the ambiance makes up for it.

Only came for Ian. If he wasnt there, I wouldnt be. Great old nostalgic bar with a lot of history. You cant beat that! Definitely turned around and definitely looking great. Great beer selection and a lot of room. Check it out. Drawback terrible parking.

Atmosphere is FUN! Variety of nice COLD beers. Seating for entertainment, not so good. But wouldnt stop me from going back.

They dont have a tap... environment is a bit awkward for shows. The layout is long and narrow and the bathroom is basically behind the stage. Staff is friendly and they have cheap bottled craft beer.

Probably the best vibe in Fort Wayne. Had live music when I was there which is awesome. They also have board games and whatnot.

I no longer drink. I wasnt there to bar hop. I sought an ATM for a cash withdrawal. a guy and girl were pretty rude about it. I dont know if its the same lady Hazy McIntyre mentioned here. But they didnt know that I didnt drink and hit bars any longer. So it wasnt wise to run a possible customer off the first time you see him by making comments about someone getting money out of an ATM machine if theyre not going to spend it in the bar.

I dont know why more venues wont accommodate all ages shows, but Im glad the Ruin does. I love seeing the kids get down.

The bartender was very respectful and responsive , but the most important aspect of this review is about the particular ambiance, bar none , this bar is the apotheosis (my opinion) of the bars in the 808 neighborhood..And theres plenty of them

The bar is nice but the stage is kinda weirdly far away. Maybe it would be better if the right side didnt have that room cutting into the room.
