Cool LGBT bar. Lots of differebt types of events throughout the week from steak night to karaoke. Sunday Show Tunes is hilarious. The drag show on Saturday is absolutely entertaining.

I went on Sunday night with a couple friends for karaoke night. Everyone was super friendly and we had a blast. As one of the regulars put it, Sunday night karaoke is like family night as the crowd is smaller than usual and mostly regulars looking to just have fun. The karaoke was a good mix of super talented people and average Joes. Definitely not intimidating! We are already planning our return trip!

Do Not Visit This Establishment!!!Party of 8!!! Enjoying a nice evening and we were invited to partake in someone else celebrating their birthday. Were at our booth engaging in delightful conversation. This Caucasian guy walked up to our table and took our food from us and stated we were not apart of the party. The bartender was rude after our party grew to more than two people. If youre running a tab, please be aware youre tipped at the closing of the tab. If your attitude os bad, dont expect to be tipped. Customer service is everything! Ive never experienced racism at the capacity Ive experienced tonight. You tried to make it seem like we didnt belong in your establishment, but not! We are worthy to go wherever I money can take us! Rude and disrespectful because of our color? I think not! We will never step foot in your establishment. Our money is just as good as your white counterparts! If youre African American, please dont support this establishment!!! I see you stated your bartender gave you a heads up about us not tipping her. First off, I was the last one to close my tab, which was after the incident with the guy coming to our booth. When I run a tab, I normally tip when I close my tab. However, when the bartender is rude to you the entire time youre there, why, oh, why would she expect a tip, regardless to how many rounds she served? She did not display any customer service skills towards us. If your bartender was rude to you the entire time, would you tip her? We all had separate tabs and paid at different times. Of course, you are going to believe your employee. I understand you have different African-American events there, which brings in a lot of cash revenue for you, that has nothing to do with how we were treated as just an individual group of African-American people trying to enjoy a night out. Disgraceful! 😣😣😣

I usually do not write reviews at all! I visited the club on July 13,2019. I am taking time out of my day to let you guys know to be careful while visiting this club, my card information was stolen and I was charged 3 different fees by the bartender and Woody have yet to resolve this issue. The bartender stated, “ I will take my own tip!” ****Watch your card while visiting here and make sure your card is not over ran by the bartender**** They ripped me off and my bank is left to clean up the mess!!! DO NOT VISIT THIS CLUB, I REPEAT DO NOT VISIT THIS CLUB UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF!

First time here. I went on a Tuesday night when they have Drag Bingo. And were serving steak that night which you could buy. They do it every Tuesday- steak night. For about $17 which is pretty good.Not many people. I expected a bit more. Youd order outside where theyre doing the grilling and pay. You get a number for your order. Go inside and place the number on the table and wait. For us, it was a looong wait🙁 the steaks were pretty good !The bartender was very nice and sweet. Really enjoyed our brief conversation. Good margaritas here!Bingo didnt start until 11ish. Only 1 drag. She was funny and entertaining.Will be returning but on a different day. I liked the venue and ambience/vibe of the place.**TIP** Reserve a booth a head of time online!*Also each day of the week is something different. Tue=drag Bingo , Wed=karaoke night. Check online !

Fun gay bar walking distance from my house. Super friendly award winning bartenders make some really nice cocktails, and they have frozen margaritas!! I cant wait for steak night on Tuesdays. First gay bar with steak night. The bar faces Damico street. Go around the south side of the building and you will see it. Lots of other fun events happen at Guava. One of my favorite is the bunnies basket bash.

Guava has changed locations over the years and believe this is the best yet. I love the nice open atmosphere and their recent addition of steak night on Tuesdays.If you havent done Tuesdays you can also find bingo and trivia which are fun. By the way, the trivia is easier than the Geeks who drink quizzes.

Strong drinks, great classy atmosphere, small place (4 or 5 booths and lots of standing room), one of my favorite low key video bars. Great place to start the evening, great place to catch up, great karaoke night, excellent staff (love Jacob). Go now.

I enjoyed the music and relaxing environment. Now I doubt I will be going back when I checked my bank account today. I spend $23 dollars and now I have a charge of $30. Meaning that the bartender tip himself without my authorization. I asked him to close my tab and he did without providing a receipt to sign. I wasnt concerned since I didnt pay with a credit card. I that day got a charge of 11.50. The $30 went on as a credit card charge and showed up on my account today. How can I go back to a place who completely rip me off.

Tuesday nights are steadily becoming my favorite here. STEAK AND DRAG BINGO.Michele and her equally awesome crew are friendly, hospitable, efficient and most importantly, make a PERFECT medium ribeye, and at $17, youd be hard-pressed to find a better piece of meat. Yes, the steak lured you here but stay for the delightfully filthy-minded yet dainty Lady Shamu and her entertaining Bingo-hosting. the first time i went, our group of five won just about every round (so I am a little biased) BUT it was one of the best nights Ive had here as a new Texan. A MUST.

This is bar has a nice relaxed vibe, with good music. Also check out whats going on because they always seem to have some different event daily.I am a fan of karaoke on Wednesdays and steak night on Tuesdays. Be sure to show up early for steak night cause its becoming popular.

Im only giving 1 star because its nothing less... I must say this is not a place 4 more than 2 dark skinned people (black)... female bartender starter off nice but 2 my understanding because someone was not tipping enough she stated the drink mixer would have been better if tips would have been better next some random white came 2 our table 2 take plates off the table that people were still eating off of...his statement was because yall are not part of the party! but 2 him not knowing the bday guy had invited us 2 eat whatever we wanted from his party... I am so speechless about this situation!! Oh just a reminder we are all over 40 enjoying the night out 4 a party gathering (Not bothering anyone... conversation amongst each other) Lord please clear people hearts of racism, hatred & ignorance!!Ok Mr. Manager, (and Im sure this is the bartender responding)You mean to telling me because someone choose a job that works for tips and someone is not tipping them and they are paying for their cocktails should be rude, stating I dont work for free & your drinks will be better if you tip better thats ok with you?!? If you are ok with that...Wow!If you choose a job that you work 4 tips thats a chance you will take that some will tip and some will not tip but that does not excuse you 2 be rude & frustrated...2 my understand the bartender had a tipping issue with one person(which had a tab) in our group but I guess her frustration was taking out on...ummmm our group because if she was so frustrated it seems her actions would have been toward everyone in the bar!Im not sure what event was going on but the bday guy came to our area informing us we were welcome to his bday cake & food which is not important but need to let you know why plates were at our table.I normally dont use the racism card but it was obvious. Im sure everyone in there was not tipping on every cocktail purchase, possibly had a tab & would tip at their finally purchase, eating from the same table... but some random guy (Im sure a regular patron or good friend of the bartender) decide he would take plates off our table stating we are not part of the party!If youre okof that...your management skills (ummm I will not say)No worries on my end!My funds and feet will never step in your establishment ever again!!& I know the Black Lives Matter is just for show!!

My friends and i didnt have a good experience at this bar. We previously went to this bar on a Thursday night and it had nice drink specials. However this was not the case one Thursday, March 23, 2017. But then it was a different bartender that night. My friend went to the bar and it appeared that the bartender was overlooking her. Finally, i could see that she was asking him something, then i heard a sharp and very dry NO. Well i could see my friend was agitated by his response but placed an order anyway. She brought back 2 jack and cokes and a margarita to the table. She tasted the margarita and stated that it was weak and didnt taste like it had much alcohol in it. So she went back to the bar and ordered a shot of tequila. After the bartender poured the shot she asked how much it was and the batender said $9.50. My friend said that is too much for a shot and attempted to qalk away from the bar. The bartender began beating on the bar, stating that since he had poured it, she had to pay for it. My friend reluctantly paid for the drink. I went to the bartender and asked what type of tequila costs $9.50. The bartender held up a bottle of El Jimador. I told the bartender that the tequila wasnt even a premium Top Shelf tequila and shouldnt have coat that much. He then told me that the Top Shelf was more so i definitely couldnt afford that. I walked away from the bar upset and told my friend that he overcharged her for some well tequila. After looking up the tequila, i saw that it costs $21.99 for the entire bottle. I told my friend it was some bullshit. The bartender then told if i didnt like it then i could leave. He then said that we all could leave. I told him that we would glady leave after we finished our drinks. He stated that we needed to leave now and that he was calling the police. We finished our drinks and then left.

This place was awesome. We went specifically for the Show. Celebrating my sis in law Birthday. Atmosphere was nice. We are all straight but we truly enjoyed ourselves. Will definitely be back

Guava is a Fantastic lounge. Avoid Thursdays like the plague!. Lesbian night with Amanda is incredibly taxing. If you are are lesbian, this is the night for you....Amanda will ignore all other patrons to bring you into her bar. If you are a regular patron, or someone interested in checking out what Houston has to offer....I would suggest that you Avoid Thurs.@ Guava...At All Costs!

Great local bar with excellent service. Music videos are on point and the staff is friendly and always at your service. I have frequented this bar for over 15 years and just cant keep coming back. Well done Guava Lamp.

That one bad bartender 😧So I am a frequent customer at guava lamp and I only go on Tuesday for drag bingo and 15 dollar steaks. So earlier in the day I made a reservation for the VIP table and I honestly thought the vip table was the booth that sits higher then the other booths and when I got the I was wrong . So there were two bartenders working. A cute guy with glasses and a girl named (CHRISTINA)😒😒😒😒😒 . So I asked the cute guy with glasses if booth2 was taken and if not may I switch and sit there instead he said no there is no reservation sign there so you and your friend can sit there so I tell my friend to sit at booth2 and I went to the restroom . so when I came back I notice that he was upset and my reservation sign was gone . I asked him whats going on and he told me while I was gone that girl CHRISTINA😬😬😬😬 came and told him were not supposed to sit here that our section was by the stage . Side note nobody ever sits there unless the place is packed but she basically took the sign and placed it back so I grab it and put it back and she again came back snatched the sign off the table and said no your not supposed to sit here and she went into one of the booths were her and the cute guy with the glasses were eating a steak ..... I came to there booth and asked the guy with the glasses if it was ok for me to sit in booth2 he said yeah nobody is there so ms.CHRISTINA then got up and as I turn to her to explain the situation to her she ignored me and walked away from me to behind the bar to tell Garrett the bartender on duty what she thinks is going on . Well Garrett is the bartender im use to seeing there anyways so as she goes back to her booth to eat her steak I tell Garrett whats going on mind you CHRISTINA was off the clock already so why she was coming and being rude to my friend amd me I dont know?????? But Garrett lets me know hes going to check the system and see if its reserved and turns out it was but it was reserved for 9:30 yall by this time it was already 9:29 so he lets me know that if the people dont show up in the next 15 minutes that its ours and we can sit there so I tell him thank you I appreciate it but why was CHRISTINA being so rude and not only rude but she didnt even tell us anything had she told me that I wouldve been like ok my fault but she didnt. not only that but nobody even showed up to sit there anyways !!!!! So in the middle of me talking to Garrett CHRISTINA comes over to tell me that we can have her booth because shes only using it to eat and there leaving so I told her in a nice manner no its ok Ill wait for booth2 and she turns around and says OH WELL I TRIED. Yall I was beyond pissed that she was just so hostile from the start for no reason . I ended up having to take her booth but dam what was her reason to be so hostile like who pissed im your corn flakes dude. But besides that bad egg I love guava lamp its my favorite place to go and everyone there is awesome except CHRISTINA lol

Waited about 10 minutes to get the bartenders attmention for a shot of tequila and he paid no attention to me after serving my drink....he walked past me more then a dozen times. The bar wasnt busy....it was my first time there. New to town... I wont be coming back.....you can get better service anywhere else in Houston...

Wanna have a great time, with some great hosts, and a fun crowd. Come to Guava. Theyre always having a party and throwing back the shots. Comfortable atmosphere, where you can just be you.

We went on a Saturday afternoon. When we entered it looked like they were setting up for a private party. My husband and I sat at the bar. We were never spoken to or acknowledged in any way. Extremely rude staff. We left and we will NEVER return.

Always a fun place to be. Great for karaoke on Wednesdays and Sundays however Wednesdays are very full. A place where everyone can feel comfortable and be who they really are

My first time going out to a Gay bar, but didnt feel overwhelmed with the atmosphere or what was happening in the vicinity.

Great service at the bar, though a bit far from other Houston gay bars. Gets reasonably busy during event nights.

This place is racist and doesn’t cater to the African American crowd. The bartender clearly doesn’t understand, that working at a bar you pay attention to your customers and not your cell phone. I will not be back and encourage anyone not to visit this place.

Bartender took my card and when I went to get it back when I was leaving I found out he gave my card to a stranger and didnt even make sure it was the right card and was rude about it making me feel like it was my fault and did little as possible to help me get it back they just gave me a sorry and expected me to leave cause they just went back to work without helping me until I threatened to call the cops then they helped, never going back.

This is HOME. Love the bartenders and love the people. Everyone is great here. I cant imagine Houston without Guava

Was looking for somewhere new to go tonight but according to these reviews I dont think Ill be trying here. The owner or manager should definitely try reaching out to resolve some of these complaints
