I went to meet some coworkers. They r half my age, so its not a place for me. But it was a fun Saturday night. Everyone was having a great night. So many people behind the bar n very helpful. They came by often to check on us.An they even carded me. I laughed cause Im 62. 🤣 they were so cute at the door.
What I love about the Ritz is it reminds me a lot of my favorite college bar. Cheap drinks loud mid thousands hip-hop music a makeshift dance floor later on the night and just wall-to-wall packed if you or someone who is going out with your squad in your 20s to early 30s it is the place to go to. They also have food out front, they have billiards. I like to play pool and bumper ball and darts. They got a little bit of everything there in addition to some good old-fashioned beach bar vibes.
I pulled into the parking lot after dropping something under my car seat. It was before hours on a Sunday. Saw a man standing out front, figured by the blue shirt he was an employee. He went inside and I stepped out my car to look under the drivers seat. He stepped back out and said this wasnt a public parking lot! I said ok, I dropped something under my seat and was looking for that, not parking. I understand that they probably do get people who park there for the beach etc., but maybe next time access the situation first. I havent ever been to this bar before, but this exchange didnt really make me want to come back.
Been there twice now (new in town). Its an old school bar (only snacks, no kitchen) with great prices. Staff has been very good, friendly and on top of things. Where else can you get a decent draft 16oz beer for $3 these days?
They didn’t accept my sister by green card, they stated it is not a federal document. She was over 21. But they blame her with bad words , the security talked to her with cursed words just because she has a green card.
The staff is amazing and friendly and makes you feel at home. The DJs on Friday and Saturday nights are awesome too!
Was an awesome place. They had free popcorn and I got introduced to their unique spicy boiled peanuts they had complimentary. I went from not liking them to being super impressed. Very cozy atmosphere and i had a super nice waitress.
This place is the go to place to be in Jax Beach. Everyone is welcome and there are TVs, pool tables along with other games for additional fun. This place can get beyond packed sometimes because it’s so well know. There are also DJs on popular nights which adds to the fun atmosphere and the drinks are reasonably priced.
Great local bar and vibe. Live music was awesome on Wednesday, in January, 2024. Great selection of draft beer and Jacksonville distillery hard liquor. Fun place with happy hour to 8pm.
They don’t really care about the customer. Well in the past they didn’t. Lady tells you she’s on break when you are trying to get service and she walks away. Workers wouldn’t say if they’re refusing service. They would just stare.
Best place to go after your marriage and play pool with your boys, while your wife supports you along the way. Best Honeymoon
Have had problems of the bouncers here getting handsy with my now ex girlfriend. Wouldnt recommend this trashy place to anybody. Bouncers treat guys like garbage for no reason and molest women half the time the bouncers dont even check ids for women. Lord only knows how many underage drinkers they allow in.
Great local bar to meet with large groups. Silent disco was fun.
This was my first time at the ritz. I understand that it was a busy night but when waiting to order a drink at the bar we were ignored. My friends and I were being patient but we started to notice that the bartender with the blue button down and cap and another bartender with white gauges and old fashioned mustache were servicing orders to those who would get to the bat after us. My friends and I really wanted to stay for the music but because of the service we realized we’re not gonna be able to order a drink so we left. I hope you guys work on a better method to servicing those who come to the bar.
Still the best bar staff in the beach! Matt Wander brings that service!
Great place to go for a quick drink ot stay awhile and people watch. Bartenders are friendly and helpful. A few sketchy customers were around. But of no concern to me. Just always watch your back and be comtrol of yourself at all times. Especially Women. Be aware of whom you accept drinks from. My afvice buy your own drinks. For your own safety. This bar is worth a try.
Was there for late night hours and the DJ did great. Music was poppin and everypne was dancing.
Not my thing, but great if you like loud music to dance to. The college aged crowd seemed to enjoy it immensely. Parking is tricky and be sure to observe the no parking policies in the area! They patrol and tow regularly.
It was okay for a Saturday. Loud Music, Sloppy people and okay drinks. Felt very college party vibes but thats fine for a Halloween weekend I guess. I think my husband lost his card their but it was so busy that I dont think the bartenders had time to properly look.
They discriminate against US Citizens Born in Puerto Rico with Puerto Rico IDs. They ask for passports when PR is US territory when you don’t need passports to travel to the US Mainland. Some bouncers have used racist slurs to get you off the line after the denied access because pure ignorance.
I love this place. No matter what day you go youll get a welcomed smile and a great drink. Everyone is awesome, Savannah makes an amazing drink and makes sure your taken care of the entire time, even at peak busy hours on Friday and Saturday. If she cant one of the other awesome bartenders do the same. Djs keep the party going all night also.
This place is the perfect spot to dance the whole night...the music was great and the drinks were very affordable, we went two nights in a row during on three day stay in Jacksonville!
Really weird about IDs. For a dive bar. I’m good. Just go to surfers LOL.
Manwich Monday. Sloppy Joes, boiled peanuts and popcorn plus great bartenders.
Went here for the first time Saturday night for my friends birthday and we had a great time! Bobby definitely took care of us, he is amazing! Kristie is super cool and great at her job! Mark, the bartender, kept the drinks coming! Thanks guys for making my first time there and my friends birthday super special. I will be back!
My friends and I had a girls weekend and spend every night at the Ritz. From the door staff, to bartenders especially the door staff including Josh, Doug, and Sheldon! They were all very genuine and kind people! We felt right at home while we were there.
It used to be a lot of fun.. two years ago. Last time I came here, the bouncer did not believe that my friend was really 25 and he messed up his own math when calculating age and was rude about things. He told us he would get the cop to check her ID and we said to go ahead and do it but he told us to leave in a rude manner. Not coming back.
So I have the receipt and the bartender changed my receipt tip because my credit card statement is not matching my tip. I left four dollars in cash and put a dollar on the paper receipt for a total of 5. My credit card bill reflects that I left a 4 dollar tip on the receipt which I did not as I had only left 1 dollar. Its a blonde younger woman that was working the night of 11/21/2021. Hope this person loses their job, scumbag person. Dont forge receipts.
Great service and prices! Whether I do a basic drink, or a crafted martini, the price is always where I want it to be. Some bartenders make the craft cocktails better than others, but this is still one of my favorite places to go when I make it out to the beach.
On Friday May 28th around 12:30am, I was denied into this establishment for no valid reason beside descrimination against race/color. The bouncer that worked their that night was prejudice & very unprofessional. This was unethical and illegal. I seen reviews of people who have encounter this behavior & this establishment has been doing this for awhile! This has to stop & someone has to stand up & say something. I reported this business to Florida commision on human relations & the attorney general office. Once I get a response from both I will send it to jax news as well. This is 2022 we are not staying silent anymore!
A great place to get some drinks with friends
Friendly staff, quick service. Great drink specials. Monday night Mexican beer $2.00. Walking distance to beach and other bars and restaraunts. Expect this place and every other place around to be super busy during summer and every weekend.Oh, and they allow smoking inside, a plus for some and a minus for others. Great air handling system that you hardly notice the smoking....🚬
This place gets 4 stars bcs of the live entertainment. There was a solo act, forgot his name, who was phenomenal to say the least. He took 3 of my music request and did a fantastic job. Its not my kind of place bcs I dont bars, but was needing a place to hang out with a friend after hours. Theres outdoor seating and the staff were pretty cool. Id go back here for just a little place to sit, hear music and chat.
Overall good bar. I think some improvements would be to play better music. The music is good but not for a bar scene. For example they blast music that you cant dance to. Why would anyone get hyped to dance if the music is bad. There are two types of bars:1. Music is low and you talk2. Music is loud and you danceThey took the worst of both and put it together by blasting music you would usually talk to.Also I once saw a bouncer kick someone out for looking at him the wrong way.
Living at the beach for most of my life we have been going to The Ritz for many years now and for many of these years we have had a lot of different folks take care of us there but one bartender in particular that has always been great. Casey Harkleroad has always been a true professional in every way. She always greets us as we enter the building and from the time we arrive until we leave she makes sure that we are having a great time. She is always upbeat and when it comes to customer service she is at the top of the list. I would recommend that the next time you are in there you make sure you sit in her section or at least ask for her. She will make sure to leave an impression and keep you coming back to see her.
Omgosh! They renovated, and upped the game out at the beaches. This place is definitely my new favorite spot out there. It was good before, but the upgrades are exactly what it needed to be the go to place. Whatever made them do the renovations, good for them. Plus, the staff was excellent!!!!! Keep it up!
Walked in and ordered two club sodas with lime for my buddy and I who weren’t drinking. Bartender had a huge attitude when he gave us the drinks, clearly upset we ordered non-alcoholic (free) beverages assuming we weren’t going to tip. I pulled out a wad of cash and offered to pay him, which he refused. Asked him what his problem was and he told us to get out. I asked for the manager and he said he was the manager (56 Asian/Polynesian Male around 30 with tats on his arms). When I refused and continued to ask what his reasoning was, he had the cops called. Being completely sober, and flabbergasted, we left to avoid any further conflict or unnecessary law enforcement engagement. As we left, the door guy who witnessed the event, apologized for his behavior and admitted they’ve had issues with him in the past. Upon attempting to give the business another shot last night, we arrived at the door and asked the same door guy if that manager was working because if so, we’d rather not enter and go to another bar, but if he was off we’d like to go inside to have a good time. 2 minutes later the same manager comes around the corner with a police officer and has me registered as a trespasser. Again, completely sober and both nights we were both wearing dress shoes and blazer). Not that I would ever attempt to enter this establishment again after this embarrassment, but if I as much as step foot on the property I will be arrested for trespass. I have tried contacting the GM to no success. After working in hospitality, customer service and sales all my life, I am blown away at this experience and will tell any and everyone I can to take their money elsewhere. 10 years of going to bars, Ive never been registered for trespass even once. Absolute insanity. If a manager or owner would like to verify this information, you can check the cameras on 3/28/2019 around 1:20am and watch the body language and facial expressions. As for future impressions, I highly recommend firing this individual. Feel free to reach out for any questions.
Great Staff and Fun AtmosphereGreat PeopleFootball Games are Fun to Watch there . Go Jags 🏈🏈🏈💪💪💪❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘
Typical Bar that has one too many bouncers l, ran by a manager with just as large of an ego problem.Had drinks with friends for close to 2 hours earlier in the evening and when it turns into club time ; 3 guys come to my friend and escort him off the premises. Typical egotistical nonsense you expect from bouncers . The manager gets involved and he has the same attitude. Doesnt want listen to a single word and actually handle the situation. Zero people skills-- doesnt like his authority being challenged. Why was my friend escorted out you ask? Because he was wearing an all white T-Shirt. No lie, a t-shirt color. gang affiliation --- hes a firefighter -- come on!Does this business fail to realize the amount of business that is not local and wouldnt comply to such nonsense. We were there 2 hours just fine, minding our business, and some nincompoops literally ruined our good time-- over a single t/shirt color! We closed 6 bar tabs because of a t-shirt. Im sure if business is booming and that kind of business model is sustainable -- then by all means continue on. You just easily lost 6 customers for life-- and Im sure were not the first ones.Plenty of other options in the area--
Very close to the beach. No views except for people watching 😆 laid back spot.
One of the classic bars at the beach. Great beverages and prices. One of the dwindling establishments one can still smoke in, yet their smoke eater system is a big plus! I love to ce into the Ritz on a Friday after work. I am greeted warmly and taken care of immediately. All of the bartenders seem professional and helpful but I always hope that Casey is there to take care of me. What an amazing personality combined with phenomenal customer service.
Nice atmosphere and good drinks. Played some pool. Wish the music had been better. I dont know too many folks wanting to hear Purple zpeople Eater and Grease Lightning on a Saturday night
The really big bouncer that looks Mexican he is huge!! He asked us for our ID we showed it!!!Then he started asking us all the info on the ID!! We answered everything correctly! He then said no I can’t let you in with this ID!! As we was turning to walk away he said for $20 each I can! I said no! We then watched from the parking lot as he did this to multiple people all night long!!! Save your time!!!
Great bar (no food) and generous pours on their drinks. Be sure to ask for any daily specials. Currently Grey Goose $5 all day every day, which is incredible
They didnt let my friend in because she had a cute little cannabis leaf on her shirt. Mind you she wasnt some dumpy, white trash looking gal either, in fact shes quite beautiful. Its 2017 get over yourselves, youre a BAR serving a mind altering substance anyway for goodness sakes!😂 I have never once written a review on anything before, but I was too blown away by such incompetence to not write one.
Watched a bartender slip something into a college girls drink that was there alone. I notified staff and even called the manager the next day when they opened, no one would even have to hear what i have to say. I would notify police but who will they believe and what can they do. I didnt know the girl and i was with my friends who were leaving after one drink. Not a place you want to be. Let me add i was on my first drink.
Last time i was here it was the first stop for my friend and I. So obviously we hadnt been drinking at all yet. I was inside for about 5-10 minutes. My friend ordered us a round of drinks. One of my friends came back with the drinks she ordered and then the bouncer came up to me and said i had to leave. I asked why what could i have possibly done in just a few minutes. The bouncer said they didnt have to tell me...ok? I would at least like to know what i did, which was nothing. I asked if i could drink my drink i just paid 10 bucks for they said no. I asked if i could have a refund they said no. I just left. Unbelievable. Ill never go again. Im quite and not very loud or outgoing ive never done anything close to being kicked out of a bar. Ridiculous.
I’m from out of town. Me and my boyfriend just wanted to enjoy the beach with our dog. Straight from the walk up the bouncer Nate was very rude. I just needed to use the bathroom. He basically screamed at me that if you weren’t 21 you couldn’t enter. I am 21, however I went to grab my ID from the car and he was still rude. It was very hot, my boyfriend just wanted the dog to sit by the shade. He was putting his feet on her and yelling at my boyfriend she couldn’t come in. He was just trying to stand in the outside area. As I came out he was yelling and cussing at my boyfriend. Like literally cussing at him claiming to be the manager. It was very disgusting. My boyfriend called and spoke with the actual manager who happened to be a female. She didn’t seem too concerned about the complaint. Overall the place gives a very racist vibe. I definitely didn’t feel welcomed.
The male manager/bar owner is rude. Whoever the lady manager/bartender was is great and sweet, but the men working there are terrible. If you are a person of color try a different bar.
Fun and busy bar on a Saturday night! Drinks were good but I think I was charged for one or two more than I actually drank. When I asked bartender he said I dont know, I never served you
I give very fair reviews please if you dont believe me you can read my others. This place was so rude to us and wouldnt let any of my friends in. Not because we were too drunk, wore anything outlandish but because we are in the military. And I quote we dont support or serve the military here - big over weight and rude bouncer.I get you have the right to refuse service. Its just very disappointing to hear that this great nation has places like this. Been in over 10 years and this is a first.
My sister and a few of her friends came in from SF for her birthday so we brought them here for some pool. It was a Wednesday night but there was an awesome DJ, great bar staff and really fairly priced drinks. We all had such a good time. They literally want to come back to JAX just for this place lol
Terrible bar, I went for a buddies birthday and will not be returning. It was overly crowded and the line to get in was ridiculous. Since they are so crowded the bar tenders take their time and are intentionally slow; they know they will make money either way, so they dont hustle. This was the worst service and experience Ive ever had at a bar. The crowd that was hanging out here also left a lot to be desired. Highly recommend avoiding this place!
As soon as we walked in a bartender looked at us and rudely said what do you want? My jaw dropped and I thought maybe he was kidding. He then with the same bad tone repeated himself. We literally hadnt even sat down yet and did nothing to deserve bad treatment. When he returned with our drinks I asked him if he was having a bad night and he ignored me and walked away. When I told the other bartenders and front door guy about the grumpy service they admitted that he always has a bad attitude. I thought he was just having a bad day but maybe he just hates his job or his life. He probably shouldnt work with customers directly. (Edit: He appeared to be asian and I believe they said his name was Arckey)
Great place for twenty something’s. The bar is located within three blocks of several other beach bars. The clientele is you g especially on weekend nights. A forty year old would definitely be out of place. They check IDs to ensure legal drinking only. On the weekends there is no parking so Uber there and back.
They would not let me in with shorts that were acceptable for 3/4 of the beach bars. There were two women in front of me who were dressed less than reputable and they were allowed to go in. They had distressed denim shorts on which showed half of their buttocks. I had distressed denim shorts and the ladies barely had anything on. I would’ve spent on average 3 times as much as they would have since I was in attendance with a group. SURFER had no issues with my dress code and even complimented me on it. There’s not even a formal sign in front of the business like SURFER has and that in my opinion is poor management. You’ll never get another penny from me. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. It’s most likely because I’m short and gay.As a business manager myself I take this very seriously. There is a serious ethical dilemma with bars that pander to women in order to obtain men. This influences cultures which I have no desire to be in. I’m also a psychology graduate. I’m not being mean for the sake of dismantling a business; I’m all about business.
First time ever experiencing racism since Ive been to Jacksonville. A group of black people were denied entrance by bouncers. I had my clipped out of states ID the bouncer mentioned I should grab another ID due to my ID being clipped upon my return the bouncer said he cannot allow us inside due to the ID being clipped and told a lie that I tried to go into another club like how would you know that if you are standing in front checking others ID while I ran to my car for my military ID. Long story short we were black and the clipped ID was the easiest lie they could have came up with to deny entry. You can have this one Mr White racist bouncer.
Great bar atmosphere, eat before you come because they dont serve food. Pool tables and sticks are sub-standard. Half the sticks are crooked or missing tips, table kept eating the cue ball so they would have to open it and get the ball out (I know, dont scratch)
Not the place for tourist. I waited in the queue for 30 minutes and then the guy at the entrance wanted me to show passport as a valid Id proof while I did have a valid drivers license and ID proof. Who carries a passport to a bar for a Saturday night. I have travelled across the world but have never been asked a passport to enter a club. I also offered to show a picture of my passport but he was like I gotta physically see and touch the passport. What kind of rule is this ?? Plus at the same time he allowed 2 below 21 years people without id because the were local and familiar. You guys have to upgrade your policy, this is not 1995.
Theyve turned me away 3 times in the last month for having a fake ID, because its out of state. Im getting tired of having to fight them and getting kicked out, but I love the atmosphere, most of the employees, and the specials. Its a great bar in a perfect location, but I just wish some of the staff was a little more understanding.
Used to be a great bar for pool and sports on tv. Now, blasting, hip hop club music. Gotta yell just to talk to friends next to you. Uncomfortable vibe seems to invite criminal element that has been causing problems in the area. Too many friendlier places to go. Wont be back due to future gang violence.
Decent bar thats very popular. Not the place for a quiet drink, often very busy with a long wait to get a drink because theres 40 people ahead in the queue. Youll be turned away if you dont meet their dress code.
I love the place. Great, fun atmosphere. Friendly and quick bar staff. Makes for an all around great time. 3 Pool 🎱 tables and 1 dart board. Djs, live music, good times!
BEST BAR IN AMERICA. Dont talk about fights, sneak an under age girl in, or leave and expect to cut the line getting back in. Stick to those guidlines and you will LOVE this place. I travel and have friends that travel for a living as well, we all agree that the Ritz should win an award for always having the best looking girls. Every time I go there I meet a new hot girl. This has become my bar and I appreciate the safe atmosphere, no fights, beautiful women and cool locals. No Townie bar can compare.
They turned me down when I was completely sober and would not explain why. I was the DD for shimsham and tavern and they Kicked me out after I was already in. It was so embarrassing that it almost made me cry. I promise you, none of my girls will ever come here again. Chris the bouncer is cool for brick, but idkwtf happened with tonight; I promise you the Jax girls won’t be about it. They didn’t explain anything. The lack of explanation and professionalism is uncalled for.
Went on a Saturday night, bouncers was really nice and helpful although you need to replace your bartenders, they werent smiling the whole time and ignored us. place was busy overall had a good time.
I came to Jacksonville for NYE and tried to go to The Ritz. I got a new ID 3 days ago and they would not accept the Newly issued ID provided by the state of Georgia. I offered multiple forms to prove my age and identity but I was told this was a “private establishment”. I guess this means they reserve the right to pick and choose who is above the age of 22. With all the bad I experience I will say the bouncer was respectful in our conversation. However, I will not be back.
I would give this place zero stars if possible, it is a freaking joke. I came outside to smoke, when I came back inside the bouncer or doorman told me i could not come back in. He then proceeded to insult me, and had me talk to a manager. I had a full drink and my wife inside and the man would not let me in. The manager gave me zero to no assurance and said he had to talk to his door man. He never came back Im out 39 dollars, from their robbery. They kick out customers who are not even an issue. I have been in the industry for over 10 years! This place is a joke, please dont go there, please dont spend your money, and dont support this bs business.
Jt was a spectacular host! If every establishment had just one person like JT on their crew they would enhance the experience ten fold. He was extremely friendly, welcoming to questions, and helped to make our party feel like we were the most important people in the world. It was a pleasure to meet such an amazing young man, and I will absolutely return soon.
Hey dude bartenders that have worked here forever, feel free to crack a smile & not ignore someone standing right in front of you with cash in hand. Ridiculous the way these guys act, lightin up, try to enjoy your job or do something else. Such a downer for a fun bar, great place to meet but the pompous drink makers can make it truly miserable. Oh you would think $2- $3 tip per drink would help, nope! Thats fine I can tip sqat for the attitude but isnt that how you make a living, by getting tips & being polite?!
Just like others have said, i wish i could put 0 stars. The staff are extremely rude. And the policies? Women can wear jean shorts but men cant? My friend had left his debit card at a different bar so he couldnt pay for his drink yet. They told him well hold onto your ID until you get back with your card. He was unsuccessful, so when we returned the security guard argued with us and said we werent allowed in because they were closing. We explained what was going on so they went to get his ID, they come out and called him a liar and said his ID wasnt at the bar. Then they had the police show up with the bartender and say pay him $7.00 or im taking you to jail. He never even had a sip of the drink. I ended up paying and we each ended up screwed over by the bar. Im reporting them to the Better Business Bureau for this incident.
Superb Establishment! There was a younger gentleman wearing a high quality NASA jacket working the door who went above and beyond to make sure our party had a fantastic time.Top notch service and professionalism.
Pretty wild how when I cashed out it wasnt a big deal, but when my friend cashed out it was an ordeal. Apparently its company policy to show ID when cashing out. My friend has a different last name due to being married and had to show the bartender BOTH of her social security cards before she could tab out. The service we were recieving from all the other bartenders and barbacks was awesome until the older blonde lady showed. Look, I know it could be company policy and shes just doing her job. But if that was the case, why wasnt she so stringent with me?
Cinco de mayo was great
The Northeast Florida skies were about to unleash a torrent upon my head. I had parked about a block from this joint and was trying to get into it before being struck dead by lightning for all the hell I caused my parents in my teenage years. It was three oclock in the pm.I made it to the front door just before the skies opened, but the door would not, it was locked. But before I could turn to plan my next move, I heard the lock turn behind me. Bam, a smiling pretty face poked out the crack of the door and the words could not have sounded sweeter come on in, we dont normally open till four but there is no way I can leave a soul outside in this mess.Kim could not have been more kind, she poured me cold 420 and asked me who my favorite artist was, which I thought was odd. Well I kinda like that Salvador Dali I said. She said she had never heard of them and asked if I liked Chris Stapleton, which of course I do, who doesnt, and she had him playing in no time flat. The place was reminiscent of some old Florida bars I had wandered into over the years, eclectic, odd artwork on the walls, some dead animal heads, a pool table er two, and the bar stools were high backed and comfy. I chatted with Kim as she set up the bar for the happy hour crowd she said would be rolling in soon and we watched the afternoon storm which lasted longer then most. But I was not in the least troubled by its duration for there were more than a few new draft beers on tap that I had never tasted. Kim kept giving me samples, I kept buying. Her tinged blue hair was a topic I enjoyed.Sure enough at a lil after four the storm moved east and the crowd came forth. Kim was joined by Casey, another friendly chic bartender and they seemed to know every customer by name, and beverage. Many regulars had their drink waiting on them as they opened the door, the bartenders could see patrons heading their way through the large windows that gave ample viewing of the beach goers and activity surrounding the joint. The owner, whoever he or she may be should be proud of the staff and I am happy to have stumbled across this Jax Beach gem. I will be back.
Some of the most stuck up and disrespectful bartenders work at this place. Got kicked out for not tipping the short simoan bartender. Ive tipped the guy before and he doesnt even say thank you. He looks like hes being forced to work there and he calls himself a manager. This place could be so much better. The pier is 10x better.
This bar did not allow a person with a valid Puerto Rican Drivers license in because they do not recognize it as an acceptable form of ID. They asked for a passport from a US territory, from a US citizen. In order to fly from Puerto Rico to Florida, the only ID required is a drivers license. The level of ignorance, discrimination and bigotry we experienced at this place was unreal. Dont support them.
I have been a fan of this place for many years. Especially love the Happy Hour crew, in particular Casey and Brandy. Always greeted warmly when we come in and many times my favorite beverage is on its way already!
Weak drinks and rude bouncers. I get you have to keep the crowd maintained but having a ‘bouncer’ tell me I can’t ask my friends on the patio if they want to meet at the food truck because she has “a lot of people and can’t control the crowd” maybe indicates she shouldn’t be a bouncer in the first place. That coupled with the weakeneded watered down drinks and softened playlist means the quality of the Ritz has gone downhill in the past few months.
Everything about this bar is nasty. Avoid this location at all cost. The drinks are lacking in taste, the service is poor, the management is poor, and the security is basic at best. Go to town center if youre looking for a middle class/high class time. Look towards Atlantic or st.johns beach if you want to drunk along the beach. Again avoid ritz.
Got the worst service tonight from one of your bartenders. Got kicked out because of one bartender named Arkey or Archie. Asian guy, about 56. He came up to me and my fiancee with an attitude. We couldnt think of the name of what we got so he said tell him when we ready but he already had an attitude then. He came and we told him what we wanted. He messed up the drink and we told him. He tried to blame it on me. He then made her drink but it was pure pineapple juice with no alcohol. He then proceeded to say if we didnt like it we could leave. He said he would give us our money back but he didnt and he threatened to get the police on us. If he doesnt want to work there he needs to quit or get fires. Rude as hell. Can something be done about that. Check out their Facebook page. Multiple complaints about their service. Bad place to go spend your money.
Probably one of the more classy (for lack of better terms, no offense Ritz) late-night bars at Jax Beach. Definitely expect your younger college crowd with UNF and FSCJ right around the corner. Though, as a 34 yr old working professional Ive never felt out of place.
When I first moved to Jax 4 years ago I thought the Ritz was alright. Now Im not impressed at all. Gets really packed and the crowd that goes here isnt really my flavor. Its like the sorority/frat type of crowd and the women here are prudes. Cant even get a friendly conversation going with any of them because theyre all on guard to any guy that tries to talk to them. Drinks and prices are ok I guess. Not sure if they have food or not?
Awesome bar, great prices and service
THIS PLACE DISCRIMINATES AGAINST THE DISABLED!!! I couldnt believe how I was treated by this establishment. I was basically refused service because Im disabled.I was not allowed to enter the building because of their so called dress code. even though I used to go into this place wearing a chef uniform after working all night covered in food. for some reason gym shorts were not allowed now. these are the clothes I wear because of my disability, Im and above the elbow amputee which makes it hard for me to wear regular shorts so I wear gym shorts. no exceptions could be made I was refused service and told to go away. I was harassed by the manager and treated horribly I will never be going back into this establishment. if you care about people that are disabled I would suggest that you not support this business ever.
A Staple in Jax Beach. Always one of the first and last my group goes to when we go out. One of the busiest bars at the beach so get there before 11 so you dont have to wait in line. Most of the bartenders try to give some sort of personal service even when its packed, and the drinks are legit.
VERY RUDE BAR isnt suppose to close till 2 a.m. they closed 30 minutes before closing. Then I had asked to use the bathroom before I leave the one employee he said hell no we said we are closing. I had spoke with the manger David he said sure go ahead. So as I walk to the bathroom he had a female employee follow me in the bathroom. She had stood right in front of my stall. Where the HELL IS THE PRIVACY.......................
This was a cool place. Ariel is the best bartender...they just need food. You have to go to their sister establishment The Brix across the street to eat.
Tyrell was great. Florida and LSU was playing the night we stopped in so it was loud but its a bar. If you want quiet stay home. Will def be back!!!
Get an orange Gatorade, peace tf out. This place can be cool for about 37?minutes then you realize why am I still here? So crowded and always only college kids. Its cool while you yourself are a college kid. After graduating just... Dont
Great place for football Sunday. No food. But bring snacks or order foods. Can be a wait sometimes but the staff is great.
I don’t like writing bad reviews, but this was a humiliating and really bad experience. A friend and I were recently on vacation in Jacksonville Beach Florida. We both did not have an issue going into several different bars with our OREGON licenses. After we decided to grab a bit to eat at Ritz Bar on our last day before heading back we were pulled aside by two Caucasian bouncers who threatened to call the police because apparently our licenses “were fake!” Okay, usually they just threaten you and let you go. At this point he looks serious so we ask for our id’s back because we can obviously just go eat somewhere els. This is when things got a bit serious. Two police cars arrived and two Caucasian men stepped outside of their police cars. The police men proceeded with “it is a felony to have fake id’s and we could be arrested.” They also said that “they could interrogate use and find out who sold us the id’s .” This clearly didn’t have anything to do with our id’s but our last names! They asked Gina what the last three pervious addresses she lived in were. They also said they need to stall in order to check our id’s how professional. It was about 45 minutes before they let use go. Apparently it was necessary to ask a lot of questions and interrogate use after they had already cleared our ideas. If you are ever in Jacksonville beach Florida DO NOT GO TO RITZ BAR they are clearly racist. After looking at their facebook reviews and google reviews they are clearly racist!
Best bartenders in the beach. Treat them with respect they deserve and theyll give you the service you deserve.tryou the chocolate cake shot. Only place in the are to get it. Clear shot, literally like you just took a bite of cake.
My girlfriend has MS and havnt drank anything. Took her out for a good time bar hopping and they said we were to drunk for no reason. Only because how they saw me handling her to the door. They were very rude and disrespectful towards us and refused us.I explained to the person at the door and he was not giving a care in the world. Dont think he even knew what MS is. Three employees were out and not one even said anything. I will never go to this place ever again. Went to a cop and said because it privately own they had the say so. Its messed up and I hope alot of people read this cuz at the RITZ they are selfish people to their business. Ive been going there for years. Please if you wanna have a good time and relax after a stressed day this is not the place to go. BoBBY the manager at ritz is stright not human.
Bobby the manager is very rude asked for several different proof of Id at the door for me and 3 friends (we are Hispanic) and to all the other white women that came in he didnt ask. Was very uncomfortable around him. Do not come here!
Do not go here if you are Canadian, they will not accept your ID (drivers licence). We are over 40 and my husband has some grey hair ffs. It was a Tuesday night and it was basically empty and still a hard time. The manager (short ugly Asian guy) is rude as hell. Dont bother.
Bouncer was very unprofessional, he threatened me and told me to get out of property because he thought my ID was not real, even so its clearly a real Florida license, he would not even let me use their bathroom. I highly suggest to stay away from this place.
Ive been a happy hour commando here for years, Kristen, Jamie, Gina, Mel have all been great. but the problems in the evenings have been legendary so im always out the door by 7:30. everybody who lives at the beaches knows what kind of problems come with hanging out along 1st St. then if you want to complain about it, its your own fault.
The door guy Chris real cool and chill and then abby and mariah were cool 2 they keep the cleanest bathrooms on the beach the dj on satdays is great fun 2 dance and drink cool bar tenders 2 best place in jax beach area!
No matter what...that Casey ALWAYS has a smile!!! She can turn a frown upside down in a matter of minutes. The Ritz has got their weight in gold with a bartender like her...positive attitude, perfect drinks and unparalleled service. At the Ritz, everyone may not know your name...but Casey does and will make you feel special in good times and bad.
Lemon drops are very good here and the atmosphere is amazing. But sometimes the bouncers make it feel more like visiting an inmate st prison instead of dancing with your friends carefree.
FB: I seriously encourage everyone to steer clear of this bar. I came in last night to celebrate my graduation from UNF with friends and my boyfriend. They refused to let my boyfriend in because he was wearing jean shorts. My other friend, who was already in the bar, texted me and said What? Everyone has on jean shorts. While my boyfriend went home to change, I went in just to see what everyone was wearing and what do I see? A lot of white men wearing jean shorts. The staff claimed they arent racist because black people work there. I dont care what anyone says, if you allow one race to do something in your establishment and not another race then you are racist. I am repulsed by this bar, as well as their staff, and I will never spend another dime in this bar.
I’ll start with the good…. Ok, no I won’t. In my opinion, “the good” doesn’t really matter if customer service doesnt matter to the staff. My first (and last) experience at the Ritz consisted of 3 draft beers, 25-30 minutes of time attempting to play music on the Touchtunes jukebox and about 10 minutes of time trying to get a credit for the $20 worth of music credits that I purchased that could not be used.If you aren’t familiar with Touchtunes, it’s a jukebox that includes a very convenient app that you can add to your smartphone that allows you to buy credits and play music direct from your phone. The catch is that if you purchase credits to play music, you can only use those credits at the establishment where you purchased the credits. Well this particular jukebox was apparently not connected to the internet and so I followed the tedious instructions to connect to the jukebox manually. Once my phone was finally connected to the Ritz’s jukebox, I purchased $20 worth of credits. Unfortunately when I attempted to play some music, I received an error that stated that I was too far away from the jukebox. When I asked the server if there was a trick to getting the jukebox to work, she stated the obvious which was to just walk up to it, put your money in and select the song that you want to play. I then explained that I had already purchased $20 worth of credits using the jukebox’s app on my phone but that I was receiving an error message. She then stated that she didn’t know anything about being able to select the music using a phone but that she was sure that I could contact Touchtunes directly to discuss whatever issue I was having with them.Feeling pretty unappreciated, I asked for her to close out my tab and also asked if I could speak with the manager. Without the slightest acknowledgement of my request, the bartender turned and walked away. Within a minute, the manager appeared and after explaining the issues I had attempting to use their jukebox, I was told that their jukebox was not connected to the network and therefore it was not possible for me to connect my phone to their jukebox. When I showed her that my phone was in fact connected to their jukebox and that I had in fact purchased $20 in credits, she stated that this was the first time that this issue had come up and offered nothing more on the subject. To add insult to injury, during my short discussion with the manager the bartender “tossed” my credit card and receipt at me from far enough away that the manager stepped back just a bit as it landed. I asked the manager if she was ok with her employees angrily tossing credit cards at customers, she simply stated, “I’ll discuss that with her” and walked away.Apparently the Ritz is owned by the same folks that own the Brix Taphouse and based on the reviews I’ve read, managment and service issues seem to be a common theme.
I beyomd love this bar the bartender made my drinks amazing we got to play darts its right beside a pool in a closed room the bar in connecting to a hotel but anyone is welcomed to the bar. The have 2 dart bored an 2 arcade games and a karaoke itunes machine
Nice place loved it here had a good time I drove 4 hours for this it is worth it
The bouncer with the red hat got beat up too many times in high school because the power of letting people into a crap bar has gone to his head!! I understand checking ids to make sure everyone is of the legal drinking age, but making my 33 year old wife smile and him so it looks like her picture is ridiculous. Then the only other girl in our group had to sign her name on a freeken clipboard just to get it. I would throw my money into the ocean before spending it at this horrible establishment!! THE WORST BAR IN JAX BEACHES!!
Staff and crowd make this a great place to relax and enjoy the day
The ritz is long time bar only in Jax beach. Its always clean and cool. Decent prices.Nice people.
Nice clean place good food and good drinks mix drings tap beer can beer . Nice ppl work here never gad a problem getting orders on time . All arou d a good out side bar to visit on a hot day for a drink . Cone out and visit the lemon bar
The Ritz is your token Jax Beach bar.. If you want to socialize and dont mind ridiculous crowds. By all means give it a try. But if youre looking for a dive bar or something less douchy. The Ritz is not for you.
Ritz is a Jax Beach staple. They run great special events such as bringing a wrestling ring right onto their front yard! Along with a food truck and great music. The other bars dont offer anything similar to this.
Best run bar I have been in! Love these guys and cant wait to go back and visit soon! Miss my favorite bartender Casey!
This is definitely the best bar in Jax Beach! The bartenders are some of the coolest and attentive around. Plus, while other bars are barren, the Ritz is always in full swing!
Terrible experience!!!!!! The bartenders are incredibly rude. Specially the short little asian guy. He is on a power trip because he thinks he is cool working in the trashiest bar I have ever been in
I come here 7 times a week. Im an ex Ragtime drinker who found a true home great friends and super hospitality. Archie makes you feel like you belong here.
The service here is very rude my friends and I was refused service because we didnt tip the guy for making 4 shots when I ordered 5 shots so my order wasnt even complete so how can I tip????? We was thrown out and told not to come back!!!!!! Do NOT GO HERE!! IT IS MORE AND BETTER BARS AT THE BEACH.
Great place to go to place games and drink as well as dance. Can get very crowded on the weekend and theres usually a line atvyhe door. Overall good service.
Always the best spot in Jax Beach to watch football. Theyre free food buffet is so great on Sunday. Will miss it after football season.
They wouldn’t let me in because they thought my ID was fake when it definitely was not. Whoever the bouncer is, is completely rude and unprofessional. Will not be returning here.
Took my gf on a date here and it was nice to sit at the bar and get personal service even tho it’s more of a club at times. Had a great time.
Ariel the manager was very friendly and Helpful as was the staff at shift change ..I recommend for a casual time ..very understanding of my ADA request. Thanks Ariel.
So this place is listed as a low key bar but every-time I have gone here its had a very club like atmosphere with a DJ and a crowded dance floor. However I do love this place it has strong drinks and a friendly staff... Just dont anger the bouncers they do not play around, I have seen many people thrown out for most insignificant reasons.
Ive been here a few times and its a nice place, drinks are pretty good, decent prices, okay music. Nice to just chill.
Management and staff are a joke. Its a hangout for children. You do realize theres pic of brass knuckles on ur bar? What kind of manager and owner would ok that. Oh wait never mind.
Some of the rudest people i’ve encountered in Jax. The door lady, the bouncer, the manager, all of those people have some serious and unfortunate personal issues to work out. These people are not deserving of your money.
Most evenings the Ritz is packed with 20-somethings. But on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, its a nice spot for a cold beer for grown-ups. Check it out.
Bartenders are VERY RUDE. Not good service at all. The music is good & atmosphere is good excluding all of the staff. Highly recommend going somewhere else if you don’t want to get your vibe ruined by arrogant staff members.
Jaxs Nightscene is really not that impressive. Therefore is the Ritz one of the better places to be. What does not mean too much. It is a dirty bar with fußball, pool tables and a long line before you enter. People from abroad should bring their passport because the doormen do usually not accept foreign driver licenses. If you want to dance, go around the corner to the Brix.
Great bar great vibes! Shout out to Sheldon we love you
My boyfriend and I were physically grabbed and removed from the bar for using the wrong entrance. After leaving, an employee yelled insults at us from across the street. Never returning.
Love this place. They fill your glass with liquor. The waitresses are beautiful and very friendly. Got to come check it out.
1st time going and it was kool, kind of rushed a bit (they were closing) but I do plan on going back...
Its the Ritz. Great place early enough to play pool. Gets crowded at night, especially on weekends.
Best place in town to bring a friend during the week or meet one on the weekend...Pool Tables... Darts... Dancing... Everything you need to get started!
Great place to visit. Im from Ohio so it was definitely a treat!!
Always a great time . DJ is fire. The guys on the front gate are cool, the chick on the exit gate is super helpful .
I was served by one bar tender and closed out with another. I left, came back, and was denied service for not tipping the bar tender that closed my tab. Im calling it being Black on a Friday by a filipino bar tender lmao
Dont want to say its the best fish fry in town, because its such a great secret for the locals!! Love it and for a great cause.
Terrible place... Id give it negative stars if that were possible. Made me never want to even come back to Jax Beach, let alone the bar itself. Great job guys. Terrible, terrible place...
Cool place, good prices, attentive staff
Good place to kill some time, can get really crowded during the weekend. Reasonanly priced drinks and indoor smoking is allowed, asthmatics beware.
Terrible spot with a crusty old hotdog man outside who calls the cops on anyone he wants, usually for no good reason. Never going back to this dump again.
Great bar for meeting folks. The drinks are great, the bartenders personable, and the ambiance nice.
Great happy hour drinks. The staff is great too!
Great staff cool ambience what if youre not local the Florida some locals kind of get a little mouthy but still a great place to go to hang out and great prices on alcohol
Better dress properly and conduct yourself accordingly, good specials every night. Staff may be selective at times so wear a smile.
Staff was very responsive and friendly, live music was very good, patrons were lively and very energetic... this was on a Monday night!!! Nice!
Fun place but suited to a much younger crowd than me...lol
How do I get a T shirt?
Loved it. The monthly fish fry is outstanding. The food is excellent and the beers are cheap. Well done!
Drinks only. Old style bar. Great prices.
Cheap drinks is basically the only good thing about this place. Music sucks. Vibe is weird but im broke so whatever lol
They were very helpful for Beaches Hospitality Networking meeting.
This is a Jacksonville original bar lots of fun not much seating they have bands and all kinds of fun activities
I paid for 2 shots and the bartender Gary took it upon himself to charge my card extra for a tip I didn’t put on the receipt
Local beach pub to relax, hang with friends and watch sports!
$6 for a small hot dog is not a special. bidenflation.
Great bar. Always a fun time. Local and college crowds. Get the alcohol Gatorade drinks.
Great service and friendly staff. The locals are a lot of fun.
What a JOKE of a bar! I will let all my friends know that this is NOT the place you want to spend your money at. And you get 0 stars from me.
The staff is really attentive, and its fun here.
Drink prices are good. Nice atmosphere. Only con was the $8 card minimum.
A jax beach staple. A good place for a drink, but this place becomes 21 year old central after 11pm. AKA Amateur hour
I had a great time. Superbowl was awesome. Not for one minute did I feel disrespected or hated. What s feeling.
Spacious, conveniently located, plenty of parking, and very good pleasant vibe 9n a Friday night at Jax Beach⛱
Great dive close to the beach with great drink prices
Nice atmosphere for HH, still smoking allowed, but not Smoky at all. Good service and boiled peanuts
Great drinks, friendly bartenders, huge bar, pool table, skee ball, and darts.
Great bartenders who were friendly and very nice. Great happy hour.
Great bar. great staff. fun place. All you need to know
Good liquor drinks on a Sunday afternoon. Ill have to back and spend some more time!!!
Played pool and enjoyed some drinks
Awesome DJ, cute bartenders, and strong drinks! Made our girls weekend awesome!
I really enjoyed it here being from Colorado the people are a different vibe i enjoyed 😉 the staff here too.
They didnt let my friend in because he had ID from Europe.
The service is excellent. Sports bar with lots of TVs. Good drink specials on Tuesday.
Steven at the gate was awesome. Great guy. Great atmosphere. Definitely coming back again.
Best neighborhood bar atmosphere.Reasonable prices and great happy hour.
Great happy hour. Dont bring your cigarettes there is plenty of smoke here.
Kick locals out to make money on townies. Hands down the worst beach respect bar I’ve ever been at. Locals make your money not townies!!!!
Fun time, bartender attentive but ladies room was not up to standards. Bleach please!
Huge bar. Well staffed. Big dance floor. Good music
Very packed on Friday nights but a great place to go dance and have a few drinks
Great bar and dance nightlife on weekends. Met great people here. Love their beer. Nazdarove!!!
Its a great place to visit go out and meet people I can I recommend anybody to come and have a great time with a very great staff
Great looking girls and decent music but sometimes the staff gets bugged out.
