This place isn’t for the faint of heart and they like it that way. I love coming here for the music and dark, gothic vibes. It’s about $15-$20 to get in depending on the night. There’s a smoking patio. Don’t want to give all the secrets away, but it’s worth coming down to see. Just know there’s a dress code and it’s strictly enforced.
One of the few clubs I’ve been to in Los Angeles. I’ve always had lots of fun coming here. Sometimes we’ve come we see people we know. You can smoke in the side room which is inside. The main room is where the bar is. Bartenders are quick to get your drinks. Dress code is strictly enforced which is all black. IDs are strictly enforced. Love this beautiful gothic club. DJ was playing good music 🦇🖤
My husband and I have been looking for a cool goth club, and we definitely found it! Bar Sinister has a super cool atmosphere, good music, and in a nice location. We had an awesome time! Our only complaints were the cost of our drinks (that didn’t taste good), and only being able to find one small bathroom each. We liked being able to go to two different rooms for different music, the dancers were nice to watch, and the upstairs (sensual/BDSM play) area was cool to check out.
I cant even begin to articulate how disappointed I am. I used to come here all the time and was excited to bring a friend who was visiting from the UK. Unfortunately, the bouncer working the door on 7/13/24 was incredibly rude and denied us entry when my friend realized she had an unopened beer in her purse from a grocery store earlier in the day. Obviously we understand we cant bring outside beverages in, but Ive never before heard of someone being SO misunderstanding of an honest mistake. We apologized profusely, threw the can away, and tried to explain the situation... She didnt even try to hide it! But the power-hungry bouncer decided we wouldnt be allowed in. Cmon, dude. If I *really* wanted to sneak a drink in, I would. Its really not that hard. But this was an accident and has now ruined this place for us. Luckily, there was another cool bar around the corner with 80s tunes and better/cheaper drinks, so we spent our time and money there.
Was a little apprehensive because of the previous reviews but we didn’t experience any rude staff. Make sure you review the dress code which they enforce seriously, someone ahead of us was denied access for wearing white shoes. The price of drinks wasn’t bad, they do allow smoking in the live music area which was a huge negative for me because it’s hardly an outdoor area with little ventilation. Otherwise it was a cool vibe and had a great time!
This is a cool goth bar. Its strange to think of it being anything but a goth bar. The decor is super cool and the inside has great vibes. A small dance floor inside and a bar. A nice courtyard outside. Decent seating. I went on a Wednesday when there was no cover. Im not super goth but Ive been in the scene before and if youre at all I recommend coming to a goth club. Its a fun place to dance where you can be yourself and no one cares what you look like. Just be sure to follow dress code on their website. Dont come if youre just going to people watch and judge.
I LOVE this place!!! I’m new to the goth scene and what I found it’s mainly about the music rather than the fashion. The vibes are immaculate 🖤 I was here yesterday for anime night and usually when you dress up for themed nights, you get $5 off the $20 entrance fee! But just a warning their dress code is very strict but a small inconvenience to the experience inside. When you first walk through, there’s an alleyway full of cool vendors they tend to switch up every week. They have an outdoor area with a stage for performances and dancing. There is also a dance floor inside the venue and the music they play is so enchanting and seductive. And on the second floor is where they perform professional BDSM. The people who run it are very respectful and great at what they do. You have a choice of either shibari or impact. They will also check in on you and you can stop whenever you’d like. Consent is their upmost priority! To sign up, you ask one of the staff to get in the queue and at the end you can leave a tip!I always make a ton of friends here and meet really cool people! Of course there will always be those few who are rude and/or creepy (DON’T be that person and mess up the vibe 😡), but usually there are some that have your back 😁🖤🖤🖤
They call themselves a goth club but thats embarrassing... They enforce an all black everything rule on anyone who isnt a girl in a revealing outfit. If you are a girl you can walk in wearing white. If youre not you lose all freedoms of express. Tattoos and piercings and black clothing from head to toe with red accents? Oh sorry the red is not black you cant come in. Wearing white and black converse? Youre welcome to come in. Black and orange vans? Rejected. Then they have the audacity to ask you to buy buy something around the corners. All while claiming to be the biggest and best goth club in LA. Thats not goth. Read up on what goth is and where it came from. Thats just black with no identity or expression. Even Victorian Gothic attire had colors. The vibes are just as fake as the name. Truly one of the most disappointing experiences Ive had at an alternative club. Whatever greatness this place once had is gone now.
What a memorable night jamming out especially when RATM-Killing in the Name came on dedicated to everyone going through it and meeting new friends who welcomed me to jam out along with them. I was ready to get down if they were bothered by any drunk/ creep ofc it happened. The group handled their own, Good culture. There will be people in this world who are bad faith actors who try to secure attention and energy from others but we didnt let one incompetent person take a good night away from us! Happiness enrichment!
I absolutely love this bar. It is a Goth Fetish bar in the heart of Hollywood. The bartenders are always friendly and attentive. The drinks are not super expensive and strong.
I came here to celebrate a friends birthday only to be welcomed with disrespect for not abiding by the dress code and camera rules. They only yell at women. yet they let the men be creepy and don’t say anything to them. Don’t come here if you want to be berated with rules. And don’t come here if you’re a woman they have no respect for you. Security will mess with you even when you’re sitting or trying to use the restroom. They police everything you do. Had the worst time of my life and will never come here again.
Another fantastic night at bar sinister, only one weirdo this time, most clubs have more than one weirdo. I always have a lot of fun at bar sinister when I go out with my friends, and there is much to enjoy. I saw a performer with a flaming sword. the music is always great and it looks like they got more speakers so its even louder now, but I always wear earplugs, so for me its like bathing in a sound ocean and hoping to disintegrate from the vibrations. much better than a Santa Monica club which is usually full of sociopaths and devils
I went here for the first time alone and felt safe ! The people here are more polite compared to other nightclubs I’ve been to!
I have been going here for a long time and it is always so FUN! It is my favorite Goth Club! They have hand crafted items for sale at the entrance and they have 3 areas to hang out in.They have the outdoor area which is covered by a big tent canopy, so you can smoke and watch the live bands or shows. Then they have a dance area with gogo dancers and multiple DJs that rotate throughout the night. Then they have an upstairs area to either watch or volunteer for BDSM play! There are 3 bars with fast service, they always put water out for you to drink and allow patrons to stay indoors long after 2am!My only complaint as is with ALL of the bars in Hollywood, not enough toilets to go around lol. I wish they had just one more restroom area.
Full of douches.Except a couple door dude upfront.Jk, wouldnt know, we didnt pass dress code.
If Goth and Industrial Music is your thing this is the spot you want to be. Saturday nights here are awesome. Live shows, decorative colorful people, and merch. The drinks here are really good about average price for Hollywood. The staff was really cool and the bouncers dont mess around. You will keep the walkways clear. LOL.
This is my new favorite bar in Los Angeles. It has the perfect gothic vibe and has a plethora of cool events to go to. Think Gothic but with the high energy of a more typical club scene. What does ends up being is the gothic city dance experience that cyberpunk novels have promised us for years.
This goth/dark club is an instution for over 20 years. Great music, concerts and shows every saturday. The 80s day are the Blue Mondays. ^_^They have an inside dancefloir with gogo dancers and an open air atrium with a stage where you can smoke.Sometimes local aetists sell jewelry, accessories and clothing.
Saw the band Alibis, they were freakin awesome! There were a few issues with the mic going out on the lead singer, but sometimes that happens.Alibis was awesome! The singer has the best voice Ive heard live since I saw Alanis Morissette back in her prime! Ill be going back to Bar Sinister every time they book Alibis. Alibis is totally worth the 90 minute drive to downtown!!!!
This nightclub is seriously hot. The lineup outside looks long, but we were inside within about 10 minutes and there are a lot of attractive people and outfits to look at while you wait. It was $10 at the door and the security were really laid back, unless of course you get in their face like the guy at the end of the night, in which case they still exercised self-restraint. There are lots of people selling beautiful goth and vampire accessories in the walkway entrance, We met lots of really friendly people who said they go there every week, so you can really find a community there. There is a nice stage and sound system with a skilled sound tech, and we saw fun bands, members of which with whom I got to talk after the show amongst the crowd. There is a dance floor, but be careful going there with stilettos like I did because its not smooth ground. There are dancers and two live entertainment areas. Every area I mentioned has a bar so drinks are very accessible, but watch out, its LA, so they are really pricey. $6 for a soda water, $12 for an alcoholic beverage. The place closes at 2:30 and is only open on Saturdays.
It was really cool! They even played buck tick, which was a surprise since it was a japanese band.
Everyone at the bar was fun and resposible. I loved the music/ dj. We were lucky to see the charming Voltaire live. The performance stage is in a private courtyard which means when people are smoking it gets blown away quickly and the air quality was pretty good. We got the table service which was convenient for our party of 5 people.
I was wearing full goth makeup, my style is gothic and the head secuirty guy (tall black guy with braids in a pony tail) wouldn’t let me in with my dark grey skirt. Then commented on my filler?!? The other security guards looked unsure what to do, as he pushed this to far. He said he was the only one in charge and important there, and should of thought twice on my look. Get a new head of secuirty!!!!! Ladies think twice about coming here with him working there.
Really cool venue, music, and regular crowd. I only put three stars because of the jackass upstairs who AGGRESSIVELY put his hands on me and yelled in my face without even telling me he worked there - apparently you can’t take photos upstairs to protect the performers, which I totally understand! But I didn’t see your poorly placed signs and I was clearly only filming the crowd below as I was leaning over the balcony. You should have signs on the stairs saying no photos before people get up there, and you DEFINITELY shouldn’t grab a women like that and expect her to not fight you. Seriously! All you had to was point to the sign and I would’ve deleted it right away. Screw you.
Good crowd and atmosphere, but workers are extremely disrespectful and apparently very unhappy with their jobs. I watched the bouncers get physical and bartenders egging on fights with people who were just trying to pay their tab. Unnecessary power trips. My friends (regulars) warned me ahead of time theyre like that, but I cant get passed the rude behavior. I know what its like to deal with the drunk public and have a job you hate, but theres no reason to instigate the way they did. I guess they can rest on their laurels, having cornered the Hollywood goth market.
Love coming here. The atmosphere is great. My biggest complaint is that they close the bathrooms before they close down. They dont even tell you... We had to find out as we were getting ready to leave. Nothings more irritating then looking for a bathroom when there was one that could have been used.
People recommended me this place but I did not end entering just because how rude was the worker by the door, there is a bald/chubby/short gentleman with beard that was not professional and rude this Saturday night, so I ended not going. Not cool experience at all, the Sinister is definitely losing money and damaging its reputation with this gentleman
Bar sinister is amazing! Like minded people dancing to a great mix of dark wave, post punk, industrial, and metal.
First time here and I would really like to return soon. The venue seems straight out of a movie. There is two large rooms and a nice long lit outdoor patio upon entry. Bars on each floor. Get ready to dance all night and meet interesting people. Recommend to come here for Mondays (80s) and Saturdays(goth night)
The lamest place ever I mean who ask every one to be in black like some conformist
Came here for the first time and I had mixed feelings...on one hand its not your typical night club, but on the other hand it was very vanilla. In the upper portion of the club they have a bdsm demonstration, but it was very crowded and couldnt get a good view of anything. Bathrooms were crowded with only 2 toilets in each men and womens. Good place to go if it is your first time experiencing a goth club.
Love it here every time i’ve been but recently i tried going to blue mondays and the security guards were just awful..refused me entry even though i have a valid ID and conveniently didn’t have a scanner after telling me my ID looked “sketchy” :/ definitely ruined my opinion of bar sinister and i probably won’t be returning if those security guards are on duty.
Amazing fun place. The go to spot for Halloween or any time you have the urge to get in touch with your darker side. Dress code is enforced. Prepare to break out the Gothic chic stuff!
Miss Bar Sinister like crazy,, I haven’t been back since 2010,, this club is the BOMB 💣,, my first time there was back in 2003 and it was love ❤️ @first site. I usually like to go with a friend or so, but if no one wanted to go, I’d go by myself, that’s how much I love the place. I would go every Saturday, but now I have 3 little angels I must care for. My little angels are growing now, it’s almost time to return ,,,
This place charged me twice on drinks one the original price then they charged me again the next day with what I added with tip. So if you come here make sure to check your bank statements.
Love this place. Very welcoming and twice as fun, especially upstairs. I cant wait for their next event
This place is pretty chill, but super hot and stuffy. I wish there were more seating upstairs. Also, the DJs are usually really good or really bad. I havent really noticed in-between.
The guards are poorly trained. Will take tincture thc shots before ke during breaks. Specially the guard with braids. If you trip or anything that triggers thematic say you are drunk hou will be booted for the night. Other than the guard its a really fun bar. Who hired the dumb guards.
My favorite bar to go to. The best crowd, really amazing djs. Really cool staff and dancers. The atmosphere over all is what sets this place apart.
Always a good time. Staff is amazing. I always feel safe and there are fewer disrespectful men than normal bars.
Always a great time to be had here! Bartenders are quick and heavy hands when making drinks! Security is top notch , all of the staff is great!
The staff is racist and so are the securities , they want you to wear all black but not be black... Not coming back here again
Amazing energy, awesome people, lost track of time. The dungeon is fun to play in. Went for the Harry Potter themed femdom party
This is the place to go to when in Hollywood on a Saturday night. I always have a good time. Going for over 15 years periodically just to get the hell away from lifes typical grind.
Love this bar. With live bands, a dungeon and great dance area with dancers. Its always a fun night.
I love this place! My fav bar ever! Highly reccomend if youre looking for something different and darker.
Love this place . Love the music they play, the bands that play. Nobody judges. Good vibes good drinks , good times !
My wife was drugged by the bartender. Guy wearing a baseball cap.
“Hours may be incorrect” 🤣😈🤘🔥🤍
This place is load and obnoxious.. there is no chill and its always pact. I love it and the people need to enjoy their suroundsing. Thanks for all the fun.
Industrial gothic style club with great drinks, an intimacy lounge, and suicide-girl go-go dancers! Favorite place to play!
Saturday night is a great dance party! Really gets going at 11:30-12:00am
This club is very fun and to meet friends. The music is awesome. I highly recommend
Cannot say enough good things about this place. This is the best time out you can have in your Saturday night
Going next weekend. Usually a great place
Great place to party on a saturday night.
Great place to go for drinks. Drinks are strong. THE WAY I LOVE THEM...
Fun Goth club featuring dancing and LIVE bands
What can I say about this place? Other than its original, its fantastic, Im definitely going back.
Entrance lady was extremely rude, venue was nice and music was good but that lady should be fired.
Drinks bad, music awful, staff very rude.
This place is wild and fun!! Lots of cool event nights!
Nice club but the security guard is super rude. Also it doesn’t open at 9, opens at 10.
Never forget this night
A fun adventure for everyone that loves the nightlife and live performances
Best goth club in Los Angeles.
Good drinks and a friendly bar tender who knows his stuff.
😈
Definitely one of my favorite clubs to attend
Awesome place! The most beautiful girls!
The bald black security guy is a joke.
Truly an incredible experience. Amazing place

Not like it use to be..... use to come here 15-20 yrs ago and a few times here and there and place keeps going down hill. All black dress code??? Although people wear baseball caps and regular non goth/ industrial/ Victorian, etc attire.... pfff. Not to mention $20 for public parking nearby sheesh.
